  1. When the influential Caspa and beloved duo EAZYBAKED come together, it's "No Laughing Matter." Their new collaboration, out now via Insomniac Records' Bassrush imprint, is a grinding dubstep banger that showcases the best of its collaborators. 3. Oliver Heldens is back with "I Want Your Love," a euphoric techno anthem produced alongside DIØN and Funk Tribu. The unlikely trio have cooked up something that feels both primal and polished. It’s a masterful fusion of techno's shadowy allure and house’s hands-in-the-air vibes, a dichotomy that Heldens has mastered over the years by balancing his own music and that of his techno alias, HI-LO. Out now via his own Heldeep label, "I Want Your Love" is propelled by an undercurrent of dark, rumbling basslines that keep you anchored even as the soaring vocals lift you higher. The Dutch dance music superstar says the track represents his view of what's next in dance music. “The last few years, I’ve been inspired and excited about what the next generation in dance music is up to, and DIØN and Funk Tribu have been two of my favorites from this new wave of uptempo rave music," Heldens said in a statement. "We thought bringing our three worlds together in one track would be interesting." Listen to "I Want Your Love" below and find the new single on streaming platforms here. Having performed the remix at his Hollywood Palladium headline show and during festival sets at Escape Halloween and Boo Seattle, the track has rapidly gained popularity while paying homage to its original form yet evolving musically. On the track, Odd Mob shares: “It was an honour to remix this track. I was a bit unsure with how it would turn out flipping a DnB track into a house tune but the slowed vocals ended up providing a really cool feel to the track’ John Summit has had an incredible year, headlining shows at places like Madison Square Garden (which sold out just two hours after tickets went on sale!), Coachella (where he closed out the Sahara Tent and had an unforgettable performance with Dom Dolla), and EDC. He’s had solo sets as well as a closing performance with Green Velvet. 6. Rumors have been swirling about an exciting upgrade to the iPhone 18 Pro’s camera system, particularly its wide-angle lens, which is expected to feature a variable aperture. Esteemed analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has indicated that this enhancement will mark a significant evolution in mobile photography. Previously, speculations around the camera improvements for the upcoming iPhone models included features like enhanced bokeh effects and a remarkable increase in front camera resolution to 24MP. However, Kuo’s insights provide concrete details about the variable aperture functionality expected in the iPhone 18 Pro. This innovation is likely to greatly enhance the photography experience for users. What does a variable aperture mean for iPhone users? Essentially, it allows the camera to adjust the amount of light entering the lens based on current lighting conditions. This adaptability means that before capturing an image, the iPhone camera can optimize its settings, ensuring that the photographs taken are well-exposed and vibrant, even in challenging light scenarios. This capability sets the stage for a more natural and compelling photography experience, enhancing the potential for stunning snapshots without relying entirely on computational photography algorithms. In addition to the camera updates, there are also intriguing rumors surrounding the iPhone 18 Pro’s performance capabilities. The device is anticipated to be powered by a groundbreaking 2nm processor, known as the A20. Kuo noted in September 2024 that the availability of these processors might be limited due to production costs and complexities, possibly making them exclusive to the iPhone 18 Pro Max model. Exciting News About the iPhone 18 Furthermore, a notable change in chip design is expected, wherein Apple may move from a monolithic chip structure—where all components are integrated into a single chip—to a more modular approach. This evolution might optimize manufacturing efficiency, though it may not directly affect user experience. Users might not see a dramatic difference, but it could allow for greater flexibility in component configurations as demand varies. Additionally, there’s buzz surrounding the potential introduction of under-screen Face ID technology in the iPhone 18 Pro. If realized, this feature would eliminate the need for the notch that has been a defining element of iPhones since the iPhone X debuted in 2017. Such advancements promise to redefine the user interface, offering a more seamless display experience without interruptions. All in all, the iPhone 18 Pro appears to be on the cusp of remarkable innovations that could not only transform smartphone photography but also enhance overall user experience through improved performance and design. As these rumors evolve, many are eagerly anticipating what Apple will bring to the table in its next flagship phone. 9. Since April of 2020, as the world of EDM has partied on, Lorin Aston aka Bassnectar is still neck deep in sexual assault allegations. Recently, he posted an update regarding a motion to dispute the claims made by his accuser, on Reddit. This will be a new direction in his legal battle if it takes hold. In his words, this is the description of said motion: “Since my last post got a lot of interest, I figured I would drop an update for everyone. I asked my brother to keep any eye out for anything new (see screenshots). In short, they rebut the girls and say all relationships were consensual and that the plaintiffs’ accusations don’t meet the legal requirements so the case should be thrown out on all claims. It basically states that the evidence doesn’t back up the allegations. Main points are covered in the summary and the conclusions but essentially says; 1) the gifts were not given in exchange for sex 2) plaintiffs were not forced into a relationship and could leave at any time 3) plaintiffs have not shown they were harmed 4) he wasn’t aware of any underage involvement 5) spending time together was consensual and they weren’t forced or threatened 6) the recorded phone messages were misinterpreted, they only released the edited recording for a reason and it just showed caution and confusion over misinterpretations.” – Bassnectar via Reddit Screenshots of the motion were posted as well. You can see them here. A quick overview of Bassnectar’s Allegations In 2020, Lorin Ashton faced multiple allegations of sexual misconduct, including claims of engaging in inappropriate relationships with underage girls. These accusations led to a lawsuit filed in 2021, alleging child sexual abuse, sex trafficking, and the creation and possession of child pornography. Ashton has denied all allegations, describing them as “outrageous” and “without merit.” These words alone turned away many fans. In response to the controversy, he announced an indefinite hiatus from his music career. Many other artist like Blunts & Blondes, Space Jesus, Datsik, SNAILS, and Graves have seen accusations in the past years. Sexual assault allegations are a serious matter for all parties and it is important that justice is served when someone is guilty. It sometimes requires a lengthy legal process. 15. Luck is when preparation meets opportunity. For HAYLA, the window to strike revealed itself at a peculiar moment. The building blocks of HAYLA's breakout came at a time of great difficulty for most. The UK was ebbing in and out of lockdowns during the COVID-19 pandemic. During one government-sanctioned ease-up in June 2020, HAYLA reunited with writing partners Will Clarke, Eddie Jenkins and EDM.com Class of 2024 star Camden Cox. The situation wasn’t fortuitous but it emboldened HAYLA to pen something everyone could resonate with: a song about escapism. "It was quite an emotional time for everybody," HAYLA tells EDM.com while discussing the release of her debut studio album, DUSK. “The message we conveyed, I hope loads of people felt they could connect with. We also felt very strongly about how we were all held up. We didn’t have anywhere else we could go.” View the original article to see embedded media. HAYLA etched her name in history by lending her powerful vocals and songwriting skills to Kx5’s debut single, “Escape.” It’s not often someone is on the ground floor of something new. Something big. HAYLA and her co-writers presented the song to deadmau5 and Kaskade as the two pioneering producers prepared for a mysterious joint venture. “Kx5—the actual project—was not in the world yet. It was a brand-new collaboration between Kaskade and deadmau5,” HAYLA says. “It was absolutely amazing to be part of that project. Considering the time we were going through, it’s incredible how many people it’s resonated with. We all needed to escape a bit during lockdown.” “The version you hear now, the music they added turned it into a masterpiece,” she adds. “I absolutely love what they did with the vocals. To send the vocal over and receive a track back like that was absolutely incredible.” “Escape” put HAYLA on a collision course with a song of even broader impact. John Summit had recently put his artistic touch on an official “Escape” remix. The through-line from Kx5 to Summit spurred HAYLA and her co-writers to approach him with a song called “Where You Are." “When ‘Escape’ happened, John did the remix,” HAYLA explains. “The same team pretty much got together again and wrote the top line for ‘Where You Are.’ We said, ‘It’s quite interesting. John is doing really well with the remix and people seemed to really like what we did there, so maybe he would like it.’ We sent it across.” “Where You Are” exploded as arguably the biggest song of 2023, even eclipsing the broad reach of “Escape” the year prior. “It’s genuinely been one of the quickest turnarounds of a track I’ve ever had,” HAYLA says. HAYLA's climb was a joint effort, an axiom that rings true for anyone who's succeeded. No matter how prominent someone seems, there's always a foundation of support behind them. HAYLA and her co-writers, Kx5 and Summit, each contributed crucial pieces to their acclaimed songs. But now that HAYLA is here, she's firmly planting her feet and paying it forward. “I’ve found so much comfort over the years with writing as a form of therapy, as a diary and a license to experiment and go for it," HAYLA says. "I feel like writing this, I hope it inspires people to feel like if I can do it, why not maybe the person listening to it as well?" Her career is in full bloom after releasing DUSK and new collaborations with MEDUZA and Kygo. But if all ended after the one-two punch of “Escape” and “Where You Are,” HAYLA could hang her hat on leaving a permanent imprint on music fans. One of music’s great gifts is how it tethers to experiences. Music and memories weave together so profoundly they meld at the seams. Try as you might, sometimes it's impossible to separate song from thought. “Escape” and “Where You Are” were electronic anthems for 2022 and 2023, songs with enduring popularity. Their overwhelming impacts mean that HAYLA’s voice is immortalized for as long as millions of memories endure. “From being a music lover myself, I have tracks that are integral to my life and pinnacle times in my life. To hear that people my vocals from other tracks and it’s become part of their moments that they’ll remember forever and cherish, it’s really nice to hear,” HAYLA says. “Honestly, I don’t know if I’ve really sat back and thought of that, but it’s been amazing. It means a lot.” Fortunately, there is no need to ponder what-ifs or cling only to old memories. There are countless new ones to make. HAYLA and her intoxicating vocals take center stage for her debut headlining show at Los Angeles’ Roxy Theatre on Dec. 4th. In the meantime, watch the full video interview below and find her new album on streaming platforms here. 19. Out today is GRAMMY-award winning dance music icon Tiësto‘s new single, ‘Tantalizing,’ via his Musical Freedom label. Tiësto teams up with multi-platinum artist Soaky Siren on the new track, which sees the producer continuing to be inspired by and experimenting with different sounds. True to everything he does, Tiësto has put his own unique feel on the record, which begins with shimmering melodies and a rhythmic bassline, all tied together with Siren’s sultry vocals for a sonic experience that simply begs to be danced to. ‘Tantalizing’ is exactly its namesake – a tempting, alluring track that transports the listener to steamy Caribbean dancefloors where you are free to lose yourself in the music. “It was incredible collaborating with Soaky Siren on this record, and I couldn’t be happier that we are releasing it to the world! The sounds of this song really fit with my current personal listening and DJ performance tracklist!“ -Tiësto “Conceptually, we leaned into the beauty of the build – desire lives in the tension before the release. There was such a vibe in the room when this was made, and I’m excited to see it touch the world in the same way. Afro House, Caribbean, and Dance music all share this pulse where rhythm and energy are cornerstones. I’m grateful for having such brilliant collaborators who love to take risks. It’s truly an honor to celebrate this confluence of culture and sound with Tiësto; he’s an absolute legend.” -Soaky Siren Tiësto‘s ‘Tantalizing’ follows last month’s ‘Dudada‘ and September’s ‘VHS RAVE.’ The producer is still reeling off hot releases from this Summer, including his collaboration with AFROJACK, ‘Light It Up,’ and with Hedex, ‘Click Click Click. Tiësto kicked off 2024 with the announcement of his exclusive residencies that see him headlining a variety of spectacular properties and venues across Las Vegas, marking the first time hospitality industry titans on the strip have come together to present a shared artist residency. Tickets are available here. He also has upcoming tour dates booked at EDC Orlando (Florida), Red Rocks Amphiteathre (Colorado), Better Together (Arizona), and more. You can see his full touring schedule here. Stay tuned for more new music and live dates from Tiësto. The post Tiësto Releases ‘Tantalizing’ Ft. 21. The Cashmere Cat is out of the bag—and onto Lil Uzi Vert's new album. Lil Uzi Vert has returned with the follow-up to 2020's Eternal Atake LP, and while electronic music fans may not be interested in the rest of the rapper's work, they may have to give the new album a listen since it was produced predominantly by the multi-genre legend Cashmere Cat. The deeply influential DJ and electronic artist produced 11 of the album's 16 tracks: "We Good," "Meteor Man," "Paars in the Mars," "The Rush," "She Stank," "Chill Bae," "Goddard Song," "PerkySex," "Conceited" and "Space High." His dreamlike, floating keys and bright production fit seamlessly with Lil Uzi Vert's spaced-out vocals. In addition to Cat, Lil Uzi Vert's latest album features the vocal talents of the Nickelodeon-spawned boy band Big Time Rush as well as production from Brandon Finessin, BryceUnknwn, Lil 88, and WondaGurl, among others. 22. Now that deadmau5's influential single "Jaded" is old enough to graduate high school, a gift in the form of a four-track remix EP is in order. Back in 2007, deadmau5, then a budding superstar in the electronic music scene, released "Jaded," a track that would become a fan-favorite in his endless library of hits. Despite the song's popularity, diehard fans relied on old downloads and rips since it was unavailable on most streaming services. Now, deadmau5 is celebrating 17 years of "Jaded" with an official re-release and remix package. With nearly two decades of experience under his belt since the release of the original, "Re_Jaded" is a 12-minute tribute to the evolution of deadmau5's timeless sound, showcasing the brilliant songwriting and masterful production skills that inspired a generation. Beautifully pairing with the soul-stirring melodies of the minimal classic, deadmau5 also produced a dreamlike ambient rework of "Jaded." The final song on the EP is a remix from mau5trap favorite Volaris. Humbly acknowledging that he had big shoes to fill, the iusing producer said that "Jaded" inspired a lot of his listening habits and he made many versions of his remix to make sure the final product did justice. "'Jaded' was one of the first tunes that got me fully into progressive house," Volaris said in a press release. "It is such an infectious tune, when I got asked to remix it, I was nervous as what can you do to an already huge and iconic record. I’ve made so many versions of this remix as I really wanted to do it justice. Ultimately this isn’t here to compete with the original as nothing ever will but I hope you like my take on this iconic tune." deadmau5's Jaded EP is out now on his own label, mau5trap. 23. In a new interview, Klas Bergling, the father of the late EDM icon Avicii, revisited his son's legacy and unraveled the complex journey of an artist who left a void far deeper than fame could fill. Bergling sat down with Geronimo, SiriusXM's VP of Electronic/Dance Music Programming, on Avicii Radio for the intimate interview. The tribute station in May launched as a partnership with the Tim Bergling Foundation, the philanthropic organization founded by Avicii's family following his tragic death by suicide back in 2018. For Bergling, it seems keeping Avicii's spirit alive is a labor of love, bridging the ache of loss with the power of legacy. "That's the difficulty also with him being so, you know, famous, you could say, and still so popular because he will always be there as long as I live, and my wife lives at least," he said. Klas Bergling and his son, Tim, the late DJ and electronic dance music icon Avicii.c/o Klas Bergling Bergling also discussed Pophouse Entertainment, the Swedish investment firm who in 2022 purchased a majority stake in Avicii's music catalog. Honoring his son through stories that amplify his light and lasting impact, the company's long-term brand strategy includes an Avicii musical. Responding to Geronimo's question about whether or not the Pophouse deal will "ensure that [Avicii's] memory is around forever," Bergling affirmed. "Absolutely. That's what we hope and that was the reason for doing it, and of course, very, very strong reason is also that his music and, you know, the catalogs are a guarantee for the Tim Bergling Foundation," he explained. "We have said that we will guarantee the foundation to be running for 50 years, and 50 years is a chosen number because that's the age that Tim could have reached with the normal living standard we have today." "So it's a big task to do it, and the foundation is growing. We have a very, very nice, good team in Stockholm, and so for me, I feel today quite relaxed to rely on the team to take it further, you know, when I don't have the capacity to be there, so it's important for me to know that also, of course, and my wife." In other Avicii news, a rare auction of his personal belongings recently raised over $700,000 in support of his family's efforts to advocate for suicide prevention. 267 of his items hit the auction block and all proceeds benefitted the Tim Bergling Foundation in its efforts to provide support for young people experiencing mental health issues. Meanwhile, Avicii - I’m Tim, an intimate documentary about the life of Avicii, is coming to Netflix. The film, which is narrated by the artist himself, will launch globally on the streaming service on December 31st, 2024. Netflix is also premiering Avicii - My Last Show, which chronicles his final performance.
