  1. *Featured Cover Photo Credit: Subtronics Genre-bending electronic music artist Subtronics is gearing up for an exciting new chapter by announcing his latest EP, Fibonacci Part 1: Oblivion. The EP has arrived on April 4, 2025, through Cyclops Recordings. He shared this news at Miami’s Ultra Music Festival after an electrifying performance on March 28th, giving fans a sneak peek of several tracks, including the powerful ‘Final Breath’ featuring A Little Sound. Subtronics is releasing the EP in two parts, with eight tracks in Part 1 designed to connect with fans during live shows, while Part 2 will offer a different listening experience. Continuing his exploration of mathematical themes from his previous albums, FRACTALS from 2022 and TESSARACT from last year, Subtronics uses the Fibonacci sequence as a metaphor throughout his work, with ‘Oblivion’ marking the beginning of a broader narrative. Subtronics describes the production process behind the Fibonacci Part 1: Oblivion EP Subtronics explains, “Part 1 of the EP conveys that all of reality, in its complexity and grandeur, originates from nature and the fundamental laws of the universe. It emphasizes the Fibonacci sequence and golden ratio as intrinsic patterns that govern nature, not through divine intervention, but through physics. Building on themes of alternate dimensions and fractals, the Fibonacci spiral is presented as the foundational DNA of reality.” Fans can catch Subtronics during his Las Vegas residency with Wynn Nightlife and at his fifth annual Cyclops Rocks event at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. As 2025 unfolds, he will headline major festivals around the world and expand his popular Cyclops event series. It’s a journey that promises to bring us all together through the power of music. 2. Fans of both Joris Voorn and YOTTO have been eagerly awaiting this moment. The much awaited collaboration ‘Seventeen’ has finally arrived. Featuring the beautiful vocals of Harry McVeigh, the frontman of the renowned UK rock band White Lies. This track promises to be a standout. Now available on Armada Music! We’d love to hear your thoughts. ‘Seventeen’ Yet another beautiful, melodic track from Joris Voorn’s upcoming album, ‘Seventeen’ is a collaboration with Finnish label Odd One Out boss YOTTO. Since their unforgettable back-to-back performance at Tomorrowland 2024, Joris and YOTTO have been inspired to craft a piece that embodies their extraordinary chemistry. Joris masterfully immerses listeners in melodic techno and evocative soundscapes, as brought out in tracks like ‘Ringo’ or ‘Dark Science.’ In ‘Seventeen,’ his signature touch is evident through rich, layered atmospherics. It has lush pads and intricate textures that create a cinematic and nostalgic ambiance. His skillful progression is compelling; the way the track gradually accumulates emotional depth mirrors his adept handling of tension and release in his solo work. The melancholic melodies resonate deeply, embodying classic Voorn, especially as their chords tug at the heartstrings. YOTTO complements this with his distinctive deep, groove heavy style. It has imbued with an understated intensity evident in tracks like ‘The Owls,’ ‘Nova,’ or ‘Walls’. In this collaboration, the low end and rhythmic groove exhibit YOTTO’s masterful finesse. This has warm, rolling basslines that propel the track forward without overwhelming it. His expert use of space and dynamics ensures an immersive yet danceable experience. The clean, emotive drop—characteristic of YOTTO’s work—serves as a powerful anchor, driving the track’s energy. What truly sets this collaboration apart is the way Joris and YOTTO unite their strengths; it transcends a simple mash-up. It feels like a compelling narrative that both artists are sharing. Joris infuses the track with an introspective and emotive essence, while YOTTO grounds it in a club ready, groove friendly foundation. Harry McVeigh’s vocals from White Lies act as a bridge between these two worlds. It imparts a timeless, dance ballad quality to the composition. Ultimately, this fusion represents a stunning blend of melodic techno and progressive house, infused with an indie heart—a remarkable union of visionary talents. Joris Voorn’s Upcoming Album Today, Joris is finalizing his forthcoming fifth artist album, set to make waves with its release on Spectrum/Armada this April. Fans are eagerly awaiting the confirmation of the release date. Following the successful launch of four successful singles ‘You & I,’ portraying the impressive vocals of Nathan Nicholson. The mesmerizing instrumental ‘Horizon’ ; the outstanding collaboration with Pig & Dan featuring LIVI, ‘Been There Before’ . Last his recent partnership with Jan Blomqvist, titled ‘Flora.’ With this album, Joris is poised to further solidify his reputation as a true pioneer of melodic techno and house, enticing audiences with his innovative sound and artistry. Hope you enjoy ‘Seventeen’ as much as I do. Stay tuned to EDMTunes for all your new music updates. The post Joris Voorn And YOTTO Release New Banger ‘Seventeen’ appeared first on EDMTunes.
  3. Apple is keeping TikTok on the App Store as the forced-sale saga continues to unfold. Photo Credit: Solen Feyissa Despite the absence of a confirmed deal for TikTok’s U.S. operations, Apple is reportedly keeping the app on its App Store – at least for the time being. This latest development in the TikTok divestment saga follows strong indications of a sale agreement. Last week, just days ahead of the (already-extended) cutoff for ByteDance to find a buyer for TikTok U.S., VP Vance communicated that a purchase announcement could arrive before the weekend. However, the situation changed on the heels of the White House’s major tariffs rollout. Soon thereafter, ByteDance (a piece of which belongs to the Chinese government) put the proposed deal on ice; the much-used video platform is undoubtedly factoring into trade and tariff talks. The twist prompted another extension for the stateside TikTok ban, we reported. Said extension will run well into June – meaning no matter how the episode ultimately plays out, U.S.-based TikTokers won’t lose access overnight. But what about TikTok’s presence on the App Store and the Play Store? As we learned earlier in the forced-sale fiasco, besides being unavailable to download, TikTok when booted from app marketplaces cannot deliver all-important updates to existing users. When it comes to the App Store, it looks like TikTok will remain in place during the 75-day extension, Bloomberg reported. Though Apple has yet to comment publicly on the matter, the decision to leave TikTok in place reportedly arrived after AG Pam Bondi provided related legal “assurances.” Those same assurances presumably reached Google as well; the company also has yet to weigh in on the matter with public remarks, but TikTok is still live on the Play Store. Of course, in light of (among other things) the above-highlighted trade negotiations between the U.S. and China, it remains to be seen when and whether the TikTok deal will formally wrap. Nevertheless, we previously took an in-depth look at the possible ownership particulars, post-transaction timetable, and more. In the bigger picture, TikTok’s U.S. fate is irrelevant to many in the music industry – though evidence and logic suggest that some would strongly prefer to see the app remain alive. Separately, competitors including the revamped Triller, Instagram Reels, Snapchat, and YouTube Shorts are actively looking to capitalize on the TikTok uncertainty. And notably, these varied efforts aren’t confined to the short-form side. (Before the ban topic took center stage, TikTok itself had for a while been embracing longer videos, with YouTube essentially doing the opposite via Shorts.) To name one current example, YouTube’s upcoming Coachella coverage will livestream performances via Shorts. That refers to “DJ sets” streamed “in your YouTube Shorts feed both weekends,” the platform said of the “vertical livestream.” View the full article
  4. Fyre Festival 2.0 has dropped a press release to convince us that it is actually happening. The extensive Instagram post states they have been working directly with the government of Playa del Carmen (PDC) and their officials since March 5th. If you have been following this story the last few months, you would know the Mexican government had no idea about this festival prior to March. So that March 5th date is quite big for Billy and the success of this festival. The revived festival is set to take place from May 30 to June 2 on Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo, Mexico. The press release also provides various dates for major milestones, including on March 28th, when the PDC government shared official support of the festival on their Instagram. The post also shares various emails and documents showing Artist confirmations/invitations, permit authorizations, deposits, and the press conference. It is a level of transparency we have never seen from a festival. Billy McFarland is certainly pulling out all the tricks to prove Fyre Festival 2’s legitimacy. Citing new management of the company, McFarland insists that this time will be different. While no artists have been confirmed, he claims he expects to book A-list performers in the coming months. He plans to have artists across “electronic, hip-hop, pop, and rock.” This year’s festival will be capped at 2,000 attendees. Tickets can be found here with some insane packages ranging from $1,400 to $1.1 million. The post Fyre Festival 2 Shares Permit Documents to Prove Festival is Happening appeared first on EDMTunes.
  5. Something wicked is coming to Red Rocks—again. SVDDEN DEATH has announced his long-awaited return to the legendary Colorado venue with "The Valley of Darkness III," a two-night spectacle set for November 13-14, 2025. Red Rocks has long been a bucket-list venue, but in the hands of SVDDEN DEATH, it becomes a portal to the underworld. Known for turning dubstep and bass music into a full-blown cinematic horror show, the DJ will be headline the first night as his alter ego, VOYD, before closing out performing as SVDDEN DEATH. The doubleheader marks the third installment of the series, and judging by the lineup, it may be the most chaotic yet. Joining the fray are dubstep heavyweight Zomboy and electropunk star Alice Glass, whose genre-defying sounds are sure to add a surreal edge to the already menacing atmosphere. Each night promises heavy doses of visual madness, theatrical production and unrelenting sound design that fans of the darker side of bass music live for. True to form, Red Rocks is shaping up as a must-visit in 2025 for fans of EDM. Dubstep icon Skrillex last week revealed a five-hour DJ set on May 13th and French electronic music superstar Madeon announced a landmark show on October 3rd. Meanwhile, Martin Garrix, who is widely considered the world's top DJ, is poised for his long-awaited debut at the legendary venue from October 23-24. SVDDEN DEATH is launching a pre-sale for "The Valley of Darkness III" on Wednesday, April 9th at 10am MST with the code VALLEY. The general on-sale will then take place at the same time on Friday, April 11th. View the original article to see embedded media. 11. Denmark-born, LA-based producer MORTEN returns to Insomniac Records with his sophomore single, “Portrait.” This melodic house and techno gem is a masterclass in building stress and letting it go. It’s meant to light up dance floors and capture people’s hearts. At the start of the track, there is an eerie, hypnotic pull. Suspenseful spoken-word sounds ripple through the mix, drawing people into its dark depths. After a while, loud, zippy basslines come in like a storm breaking, putting energy through every beat like shockwaves. As the song goes on, rattling synth oscillations go up and down, making a soundscape that is hypnotic and almost trance-inducing. You can’t get away from the deep, pulsing groove—it takes you on a trip through sound that is both euphoric and primal. “Portrait” is more than just a song; it’s a peak in feeling, a rush of adrenaline, and a hypnotic escape all at the same time. MORTEN shows once more why he’s a big deal in electronic music by making a track that is both scary and exciting. Put your eyes closed, turn the sound up, and let it take over. After his previous label debut “Hollow” with ARTBAT, which has 13.3M streams and radio backing from BPM, NRJ, KISS FM (AUS), WZFL, and 538 Dance, this track comes next. MORTEN will be on tour soon at EDC Las Vegas, EDC Korea, A Day in the Park, Escapade Festival, Electric Mountain, and as support for ARTBAT at their Upperground performance at Brooklyn Mirage. Because he came up with the idea for “future rave,” MORTEN has turned the dance music scene on its head by combining underground elements with mainstage stopping power. “Kill The Vibe” (with David Guetta), “The Future is Now / The Truth” (with David Guetta), “Control,” and “Good God” are some of MORTEN’s most popular new songs. MORTEN “Portrait” will be out on Insomniac Records on March 28. The post MORTEN returns to Insomniac Records with “Portrait” appeared first on The Groove Cartel.

  15. Ultra Miami 2025 was a wild ride—epic beats, insane visuals, and a thunderstorm that couldn’t kill the vibe. From March 28-30, thousands of fans turned Bayfront Park into one massive dance floor, and when the rain poured down, the crowd danced harder. Nothing stops Ultra. Nothing. Sets that Shook the CityThe lineup this year was completely packed with incredible artists and unforgettable sets, but I did have a few personal favorites: Axwell, Chase & Status, Hardwell, Martin Garrix, and Armin van Buuren b2b Oliver Heldens b2b Maddix. Axwell laid down some of the most infectious grooves, Chase & Status set the stage on fire-literally- and Hardwell was an absolute powerhouse. Martin Garrix proved once again why he deserved to close down the festival, delivering massive drops and ending the set with his own live vocals. The real showstopper though? The was the B3B madness of Armin van Buuren b2b Oliver Heldens b2b Maddix—a set full of surprises that had everyone dancing non-stop. Rain Couldn’t Stop the RaveWhile the festival saw mostly nice Miami weather, Sunday brought an unexpected challenge—a heavy rainstorm that threatened to disrupt the final night of the festival. However, Ultra’s production team quickly adjusted, making sure that the show went on with minimal interruptions. While some sets faced temporary delays, the energy never wavered as fans embraced the rain, turning the downpour into yet another unforgettable Ultra moment. Back to Bayfront in 2026All in all- Ultra Music Festival 2025 was pure chaos in the best way possible. From iconic sets to moments that I certainly won’t forget, this year’s festival was one for the books. See you next year at Bayfront Park—same great energy, and hopefully a different weather forecast.

  21. As the electronic music industry returns to pre-pandemic crowds, an enduring question has never been more urgent: how do we party without putting people in danger? Last week, the Association For Electronic Music (AFEM) convened a virtual roundtable titled "From Dance Floors to Festivals: Rethinking Crowd Safety," offering an in-depth look into the challenges and solutions being discussed by the industry at large. Moderated by powerhouse publicist Nikki McNeill, who is also an AFEM Executive Board Member, the panel featured Claire Wright, founder of BUDDY, which claims to be "the world's first social utility app; Carl Loben, Editor-in-Chief of DJ Mag; Jason Euler of the Arizona-based electronic music event organizer Relentless Beats; and crowd safety pioneer Paul Wertheimer, founder of Crowd Management Strategies. The discussion touched on the escalating complexity of event safety, the emotional toll of fear-based messaging and the persistent threats facing women on the dancefloor. Though differing in backgrounds, the panelists shared a common belief: safety cannot be a secondary consideration in music—it must be embedded in the DNA of every event, from underground warehouse raves to stadium-scale festivals. As Wertheimer, a veteran in the field since the 1979 Cincinnati Who concert tragedy, has long argued, safety must be integrated into every aspect of event planning, from venue design and crowd flow to real-time response and public education. Euler, whose organization produces large-scale events across the United States, emphasized those logistical rigors required behind the scenes. Emergency action planning is crucial, he explained, noting that Relentless Beats takes steps to ensure its chain of command is abreast on active shooter trainings, CPR preparation and Narcan certification. "Having more people that are multifaceted to be able to help in different types of emergencies—and having that preparation—is really everything," Euler said. The raves continue, but so does the risk. His comments reflect a new reality for promoters operating in a post-pandemic world, where staff are expected to be not only hosts, but also first responders. The significance of such preparation is underscored by recent tragedies at concerts around the world, including crowd crushes and drug-related deaths, incidents that have led to growing scrutiny from local governments and the public. Phoenix Raceway Peter Speyer Elsewhere in the roundtable, Wright called for a recalibration of how safety information is delivered to attendees. There's an abundance of material out there, she said, but it's positioned in a way that stresses them out and instills a sense of trepidation. "There's so much fear-based information, like on social media and press... It's stopping people from going out," she explained. "That's not what we want. We're not here to scare people, we're here to inform them." McNeill pointed to a disturbing truth: for many women in electronic music spaces, safety is not a theoretical issue, but a lived experience due to rampant sexual assault. "It's more the girls who tend to feel unsafe," she said, "but obviously that's a wider issue." While she acknowledged the culture of mutual care that often defines the electronic music community, she cautioned that individual vigilance has its limits. "I think we do tend to look out for our friends when we're out and about clubbing or at festivals, but that can only go so far," McNeill said. "So it's harder to tackle a wider society problem, but I always think the electronic music sector is a leader in taking on new technologies and an early adopter of things." You can watch AFEM's full roundtable here.
  22. Hot on the heels of the standout first single ‘Dheere’ which made waves across the underground, Anvaya now serves up their super debut EP ‘Sands Between Us’ in full on Indo Warehouse. It arrives on April 4th and offers a deep dive into the full richness of their sound. Anvaya is the fast-rising pair of dynamic husband-and-wife team Sonia and Kaushal Majmudar. Formed in 2023, the duo has quickly garnered international acclaim and carved out a space for themselves as innovators in South Asian-inspired electronic music. With Kaushal’s deep-rooted instrumental expertise and Sonia’s spellbinding and genre-bending vocals, the duo delivers a signature sound that bridges tradition and modernity, making them a standout force in the Indo Warehouse collective. Since their inception, Anvaya has released eight tracks on the Indo Warehouse label, each one showcasing their evolving sound and growing artistry. So far they have taken their live performances to renowned venues and festivals like Brooklyn Mirage, Sunburn Festival, ADE and SXM Festival, alongside features on BBC Radio 1’s Essential Mix and Diplo’s Revolution on Sirius XM. In April, they perform at Coachella with Indo Warehouse and then head out on an extensive North American tour where they will showcase tracks from Sands Between Us. Vocalist and songwriter Sonia says of the EP, “Releasing Sands Between Us is surreal! Countless hours went into shaping this release, pushing us creatively and emotionally. There’s vulnerability in sharing your deepest fears and challenges through art, but it’s made possible by the trust and partnership Kaushal and I have in the studio. We leaned on each other and created something we’re genuinely proud of.” Producer and multi-instrumentalist Kaushal adds, “Every song has its own unique story, born from constant experimentation and collaboration. Our hope is for listeners to immerse themselves fully, discovering new layers with every listen. We envisioned this EP as a sonic journey, offering connection and introspection, whether you’re dancing or reflecting quietly.” Sands Between Us is an immersive journey through shifting landscapes, both internal and external, exploring themes of personal transformation, resilience, and embracing change. The EP invites listeners to traverse the delicate spaces between who we are and who we strive to become, acknowledging discomfort as necessary terrain on the path to self-realisation. Musically, it blends melodic house, pop sensibilities, and rhythmic tribal grooves. Each track features unique instrumentation and innovative production: ‘Laal Chunariya’ kicks off with festive shehnai melodies that evoke joyous, celebratory feelings while lead single ‘Dheere’ is full of hypnotic soundscapes created by mridangam, khol, and reversed santoor textures. ‘Yaadein’ offers a moment of deeply reflective, melodic exploration and ‘Ud Jaana’ features a descending santoor motif offering rich countermelody. ‘Take My Hand’ is inspired by Indian classical Jugalbandi and showcases a captivating duet between vocalist Sonia and acclaimed Carnatic violinist Shiva Ramamurthi who expertly performs in the emotive ‘Raga Charukesi’. 25. Öwnboss and Fafaq work together on the hot new track “Bacilando” on Future House Music. The way that the smooth Latin singing and the darker, underground beat fit together in this song is a lesson in contrast and unity. Deep melodies and sultry, sun-soaked words that make you feel like you’re in a tropical evening pull you in from the first few bars. Don’t get too comfortable, though, because “Bacilando” quickly turns into a full-on sound storm, releasing driving rhythms, dirty basslines, and a tight mix of progressive house and melodic techno elements. The catchy vocals and the dancing beats are what defines this song for me, together with a Latin vibe that has a lot to do with my roots. The strong EDM production gifts the listener with balance, in a track that will be perfect for clubs and festivals worldwide. – Öwnboss This makes for a thrilling ride that can be used in a smokey club at 2 a.m. or to light up a huge fair stage as the sun goes down. The emotional topline adds a depth of beauty and humanity, and the constant production energy keeps things moving on the floor. “Bacilando” is more than just a song; it’s a mood, a journey, and a message. This song is sure to become a summer anthem for both underground and mainstage fans, thanks to its lightning-fast music and crowd-pleasing energy. Blending melodic vibes and fresh EDM feel, fuego vocals, melodic atmosphere with deep basslines and driving rhythms that captivates the listener ear from the very beginning. The song crafts a sound that resonates on both streaming platforms and a dance floor. Happy to release this one with Öwnboss and the FHM team. – Fafaq The post Öwnboss debuts on FHM with “Bacilando” appeared first on The Groove Cartel.
