  1. Bonnaroo returns to the Bonnaroo Farm in Manchester, TN from June 12-15 with a brand new Infinity Stage. The platform will feature a collection of dance and electronic acts from Big Gigantic, Mary Droppinz, Washed Out, Parisi, Blacklizt, and even Rebecca Black. Not to mention, the stage will also have a b2b set from Of the Trees and Tape B plus an artist takeover from John Summit’s Experts Only label. Additionally, check out the full lineup for the Infinity Stage below. It sounds like it’s going to be an exceptionally transformative experience for Bonnaroo newbies and veterans alike. Expect it to bring a Las Vegas Sphere comparable experience to the Midwest. Now, the Infinity Stage is composed of three domes and is an open-air concept. It’s going to be known as “the world’s largest 360-degree spatial audio experience”, as Billboard puts it. Polygon Live is its producer, specializing in great immersive audio experiences from international festivals already. Once in Thailand and the other in Saudi Arabia. What’s more, festival director, Brad Parker, states the audio experience is challenging but its audio experience parallels what the Sphere brings to Las Vegas in video. At the Sphere, the brand drives how the visual experience goes. With the Infinity Stage, the audio drives the entire experience with its “surround sound on steroids”. Pretty neat! “We want to keep it an intimate and truly engaging spatial experience for everybody, so we’re going the route of multiple circles moving forward” – David Lopez de Arenosa, Polygon Live We’re certainly excited to see the Polygon technology come to life here since previous use of the technology emphasized sounds in ways never heard before. From DJs, to Mongolian throat singing groups and meditation sound baths. Furthermore, stay tuned for the Infinity stage’s festival placement as Bonnaroo’s programming gets its turn. Lastly, attendees can look forward to other immersive entertainment and wellness experiences from the stage. The magical world of music, fun, and friendship await you across the 700-acre farm. Purchase 4-day and single day passes here. For the full Bonnaroo lineup, view it below and get excited! 2. Bonnaroo may be turning 23 this year, but the debut of its groundbreaking Infinity Stage proves that the iconic festival is only getting bigger, better and more innovative with time. The developers of the ambitious stage aim to redefine what it means to experience live music by virtue of an immersive 360° setup. Spatial sound dispersion and an array of synchronized lights will bring the stage to life along with three towering domes and an open-air design. It's only fitting that a powerhouse lineup of performers is ushering in the stage and its cutting-edge audiovisual technology. The inaugural Infinity Stage lineup features Levity, Big Gigantic, Zingara and ZHU's techno alias, Blacklizt. Other highlights include a takeover by John Summit's Experts Only label and a rare b2b set from Of The Trees and Tape B, who were named to EDM.com's Class of 2024 and Class of 2025, respectively. The Infinity Stage, which is expected to be one of the world's largest 360° stages, will be located in Bonnaroo's vibrant Centeroo hub alongside its six other stage structures. Elsewhere on the Farm, performances by Justice, Tipper, LSZEE, Dom Dolla and many more will keep Bonnaroovians dancing throughout the weekend. Check out the full Infinity Stage lineup below. 4. Reinier Zonneveld and Dea Magna aren’t here to waste time. Their new track “Tokyo” is built for one thing: full-throttle, no-breaks, peak-time techno. Out now on Filth on Acid, the track throws down hard kicks, screeching synths, and a hypnotic vocal loop that does exactly what you want it to—pulls you deeper into the rave. Zonneveld, a master of precision-engineered club weapons, locks in the kind of rolling, relentless groove that’s made him a festival staple. Dea Magna adds her signature high-speed energy, layering in a commanding vocal hook: “If you wanna lose control, come with me to Tokyo.” It’s an open invitation to chaos, and the track makes good on the promise. The arrangement is as straightforward as it is effective. Big drums, trancy lead lines, and enough tension-and-release to keep the energy spiking. No fluff, no unnecessary breakdowns—just a direct shot to the bloodstream of the dancefloor. Both artists have been making serious moves—Zonneveld running marathon sets and dominating the underground, while Dea Magna racks up millions of streams and festival sets across the US and Europe. “Tokyo” is a natural fit for both, and it’s already getting love on SLAM! radio and dancefloors worldwide. 5. Audrey Nuna has unveiled a remix bundle for her single “Mine,” featuring two distinct, dancefloor-ready versions. Released via Arista Records, the remixes see Audrey collaborating with DASH to reimagine her 2024 track, which itself is a modern take on Brandy and Monica’s 1998 R&B classic, “The Boy Is Mine.” In the DASH remix, the song ventures into darker, trance-heavy territory. Audrey’s vocals are transformed into an otherworldly experience, layered over deep basslines and shadowy textures. Audrey expressed her excitement about this new interpretation, stating, “Hearing ‘Mine’ within such a different sonic palette with DASH’s surreal, dark remix has been energizing. The remix brings such newness to the song, and it’s been a fascinating experience for me to hear the process of it coming to life.” This release follows Audrey Nuna’s sophomore album, “TRENCH,” an ambitious project that blends elements of pop, R&B, and experimental trap. As for DASH, the enigmatic producer remains shrouded in mystery, with rumors ranging from being an algorithm to a collective of behind-the-scenes producers. Regardless of the identity, the “Mine” remix showcases a unique manipulation of sound that challenges conventional boundaries. 6. Stockholm-based producer and 8181 Enzo is releasing “Force,” a track that reflects his refined approach to electronic music. Featuring vocals from Michael Ekow, the song was first recorded in Amsterdam a year ago and has since gone through several revisions, with a final version completed just last week. Built around a dynamic arrangement, “Force” balances crisp production with Ekow’s vocals, creating a track that feels both polished and energetic. The song leans into a mix of atmospheric builds and punchy drops, a style Enzo has honed over the years. Though he’s previously worked on tracks like Swedish House Mafia’s “Time” and Otto Knows’ “Lover,” “Force” marks a project that feels more personal to him. The name change from Dice of Nights to Enzo 8181 signals that shift, but the focus remains on the music. With more releases on the way, “Force” is a clear statement of where his sound is headed. 8. Instagram has rolled out a new feature allowing users to share 30-second music previews directly in private chats, making it easier than ever to send EDM tracks to friends. Users can access the feature through a new music sticker in the chat window. After tapping the Messages icon, opening a conversation and selecting the sticker button, you can now choose "Music" and browse Instagram’s audio library for tracks. Once a song is selected, a preview featuring a spinning vinyl animation populates in the chat. After sending, the recipient can play or pause the audio clip. Meta Meta With social media continuing to play a key role in music discovery, this update offers a new way for electronic dance music fans to share tracks instantly without leaving the app or their DMs therein. It's now live globally on iOS and Android. The feature expands upon Instagram’s growing list of music-sharing tools and arrives in the wake of the social media giant's October partnership with Spotify, which allowed users to save songs directly to their Spotify library. Instagram also introduced multi-track audio for Reels back in July. You can read more about the feature in Meta's official blog post.
  9. SoundCloud has rolled out a new feature, "Fan Recognition," designed to help artists identify and highlight their most dedicated supporters. The feature allows musicians to publicly recognize their top fans directly on their SoundCloud track pages, celebrating the diehards who have supported them from day one and keep coming back for more. With "Fan Recognition," artists can showcase two key groups of supporters: First Fans and Top Fans. First Fans are those who listened to and liked a track early on—before anyone else—and they will be displayed in order of plays accumulated during the first week of the song's release. Top Fans are the listeners who continue to engage with the music time and again, consistently playing it the most. SoundCloud On the flip side, for fans, the new feature ensures that their support is recognized and memorialized on the track pages of their top artists. It has the feel of a badge of honor for those who have helped fuel the careers of their favorite emerging talent. By prominently spotlighting fans, SoundCloud is emphasizing the role of superfans in an artist's growth. The streaming service highlighted data from Luminate's 2024 Year-End Music Report, which claims that 90% of superfans engage with artists through live performances while 81% amplify their favorite artists "by spreading the word." You can find more about the "Fan Recognition" feature in SoundCloud's official blog post.

  12. The elevator doors slide open to reveal an office bathed in synthetic pastels, where time itself seems to glitch. Welcome to Revelation Technologies, the fictional corporate twilight zone where The Knocks and Dragonette have set the stage for their latest single, "The Hero." The Knocks' history with Dragonette runs deep—their 2019 single "Slow Song" became a slow-burning anthem, and now, "The Hero" emerges as its introspective successor. An immediate follow-up to last month's "Revelation," the track is a transmission from a parallel dimension where neon-lit synths and aching nostalgia swirl into a dancefloor daydream. The Knocks and Dragonette have mastered the art of turning heartache into something cinematic, and the new single is their latest masterstroke. "This song is about the banality of how a relationship can turn cold," Dragonette explains. "When it’s not a dramatic explosion of betrayal or strong emotions that crash together. It’s about finding yourself in the midst of something else, unseen and unknowable making the question 'is this working' hard to answer." 13. Spanish architect Miguel Arraiz revealed his “Temple of the Deep” design. It will be the official temple for Burning Man 2025, making its return to Black Rock City for this year’s art festival. Moreover, the structure draws inspiration from Nevada desert’s rock formations. It showcases similarities with a giant black rock, taking its shape from erosion over time. Arraiz used the Japanese art of kintsugi to inspire the design. Kintsugi involves mending broken objects with gold, showcasing the beauty in flaws. The temple features a darkened and fractured outside that appears to be molded together by lightbeams that shine through the cracks. Lastly, it has an ethereal glow on the design. The architect’s vision encompasses a cave-like interior that historically represents a place for gathering and meditation for humanity. Underneath the rough and natural facade, the design showcases Baroque geometries when it comes to movement. In effect, it includes sightlines, and spatial dynamics. Carefully, the crafted environment embodies a sanctuary for some of Burning Man’s pilars, such as reflection, art, and healing The Temple of the Deep The temple resembles a cave, since this was always an ancient setting where people have gathered to communicate and document life’s mysteries. Furthermore, the structure possesses an autobiographical quality to the author. The structure symbolizes a fragmented, broken heart, with its visible scars remaining intact. The cracks engulfed in light serve as symbols of overcoming adversity. Lastly, it tells a visual story of loss and renewal. The design repeats the festival’s tradition of radical acceptance, as it provides a space for emotional release and change. The Temple of the Deep has seven entrances, each symbolizing a stage of grief. This will lead visitors along pathways that all connect at a central area. The layout facilitates personal reflection, while also mimicking the arrangement of Black Rock City itself. This fosters a sense of community between attendees, inspiring them to connect with one another about shared experiences and loss. Purpose Similar to past Burning Man Temples, the Temple of the Deep will act as a communal haven, gifting attendees with a sacred space to reflect on their emotions, highlighting their journeys. The temple acknowledges the importance of finding meaning in shared experiences without pressure. According to Arraiz, this serene environment boosts emotional healing, offering festival-goers a space to pause and delve deeper into their consciousness. The Spanish architect extended an invitation to participants to help out the Temple’s narrative by writing letters filled with messages of grief, love, or gratitude. These personal messages will be tastefully incorporated into the very fabric of the Temple. Even during the Temple’s ceremonial burning, these letters will remain a secret, as they are ceremonially burnt. Nevertheless, the ceremony represents transformation, while honoring the release and transformation of private stories and sentiments into spiritual catharsis. 14. Douvelle19 has become quite the wizard at whipping up a lovesick dance-floor banger or two. That’s the current theme for the Welsh producer. That’s his flavour, his vibe. And although no two tracks of his are ever the same, they almost always include lyrics of yearning, steamy bass-lines and melting melodies that will make you want to fall in love over and over and over again. From flipping grime accepellas to futuristic fan favourites like ‘Skin to Skin’ and ‘Swimming’, Douvelle19 radiates authenticity, dabbling in whatever sound, vibe or genre that takes his fancy. Music has been a huge part of both his life and his career, and with his latest release ‘Find a Way’ flooding dancefloors across the globe, it was time to dig deeper to find out more about his incredible story. Let’s talk about your new single ‘Find a Way’ – it’s a lovely concoction of vibes! Talk to me about its inception. It was created during one of the sessions I had after lockdown. I had just started collaborating properly with people. Before this, I was mainly using the same model as the grime freestyles that I made. I would find acapellas and then work with them. It seemed like a strong muscle that I had – and it made for really interesting creations – but my songwriting muscle wasn’t getting flexed. So, I was like, let me get in a room and do it in person. There is something special about doing it that way. ‘Find a Way’ came about in one of those initial sessions. I was in the studio with the vocalist on the track called Leilah and my friend Harry who’s also an amazing writer. I had the hook idea and showed the guys and then we had like a writing trifecta, I was producing, making arrangements, Harry and Leilah were writing. It was the first time when I thought ‘This is an incredible writing experience, I’m so happy to be in this room!’. I’ve had a lot of writing experiences but I’m quite solitary really, I collaborate a lot more now but back then, getting into a room with another artist was quite nerve wracking. I was in a band for 6 years and the writing always looked the same, the room always looked the same, so breaking that formula and getting into a session post-lockdown felt quite new to me. This one was different. It was such an inspiring session. How does it affect your creativity when a session doesn’t have such an inspiring feel to it? I haven’t had many of those sessions, because usually the due diligence is done beforehand going into that room, but I have had sessions where maybe you’re not on the same level creatively. Maybe you want to talk about different things on a song or you have different visions for what you want the track to be. When that happens, I just can’t do it. I can’t do what I need to do in that environment. I think some people, to my knowledge, go into a session and it’s very transactional. Like, ok, you’re the singer, you sing this, here is the reference track. Then they write some stuff. The producer doesn’t know what they want so they trust the vocalist entirely to give the track what it needs, and that’s it. That’s so far away from what I do. I sit down with people and talk with them for hours. I want to see if I even like them. I don’t want to work on a song with someone who isn’t very nice or doesn’t have the same sort of morals as me, someone who has warped views. It’s part of my creative process. I want to feel really behind what we’re doing and really care about the track and the people I’m working with. If we have to have another session because we spent too long talking, then great. I’d rather we didn’t do anything than to leave the room feeling like I still don’t know the person I’m working with. There’s a process in which I like to make it an experience. And then I guess the hope is that that chemistry will then translate into the music, right? That’s the secret behind the curtains. We’re either going to benefit as people, learning about each other, or our music is going to benefit from it because we’re both doing something we really like. It doesn’t just audibly sound better, it doesn’t just mean that you write a more cohesive song, it really helps with communicating with each other. You’re able to then give direction, be more honest with them, talk to them like a friend, ask them to try different things. Extrapolate and communicate in a safe environment because you’ve built a rapport together, that makes for way better music. I want ten takes. I want breathy, emotional, belting it out. If I can weave in and out of those emotions, that’s what gives the track texture and emotion, as opposed to using the only take you’ve got because you couldn’t ask them to redo it. The rapport just wasn’t there. Being able to talk like that and be honest is one of the main reasons I like building rapport beforehand. It’s a crazy intimate environment, and that needs to be respected. For myself, and for whoever else is in the room. It’s a special sovereign thing – to me anyway – I want to have those special experiences as opposed to cookie cutter sessions. You talk about the track being a ‘marker of your journey between club music and love songs’. It’s definitely a mix of the two. Why do you think dance music is the perfect vehicle for a love song? Anyone who has been knee-deep in the dance knows it’s a pretty alluring, vulnerable and exciting environment. I think that love song crossover with those environments makes sense to me. It works on both sides, if you’re relaxing, you’re in the car, the dance music can put you in that space and the lyrics can accentuate those feelings, and then it works the other way around too. If you’re in a club, the lyrics can connect you to something outside of the club in your normal life. It’s a space building. Putting things together. It can be cheesy but I really like songs that are about other people. I like the kind of pushing and pulling of wanting something you can’t have or having something but it’s not enough. Those simple songwriting tropes, I like playing with those. I’m not talking about the ‘You’re everything to me’ sort of approach but more ‘If you want it take it now, cause it’s not going to be on the table again’, feelings we all have with all sorts of different relationships. Whether it’s momentary or commentary, it can be weaved into all sorts of environments. My songs are all quite moody. They’re soulful, the harmonies are quite interesting. I try hard to make the music match the lyrics. Dance music is very emotive and elicits a physical vulnerability and excitement and I think love songs talk about that, in a different way. Harmonising those two things together makes perfect sense to me. Let’s take it back a little bit… You started your music career in a band called Astroid Boys. What spurred on the transition from being in the band, to becoming an electronic producer and DJ? Before the band, I was a drum & bass DJ. I started buying records when I was like 12/13 after getting into a youth-centre close to me doing photography. I met some guys who listened to underground dance music, drum & bass was the most prevalent. Annie Mac and Fabio and Grooverider on Radio 1, D&BTV was a big thing, it was popping and it was probably the most exciting time for me, discovering the innovation of drum & bass and the dubplate culture. It was the best. I had a radio show with my mate josh. We were buying vinyl every week and playing them on the radio. I would hear about DJs having dubplates cut for them, and I was like, how can I, as a 13 year old, get my hands on these? How can I get DJ Hazard to send me a white label? How do I do that? Obviously that’s impossible as a child. I was 13 years old. No wax was coming my way. So instead, I messaged people on Myspace and said ‘How do you make music?’. There was a drum & bass producer from Birmingham that I got in touch with and he sent me screenshots of Reason 3, annotated on Paint, showing me what he did and how to make music. He taught me loads. I started teaching myself how to make music so I could have my own dubplates. I then started the band at 15 after a vocalist came into the drum & bass radio show. He was spitting bars, which were sick. I showed him some of my tunes, he loved them so we made a track, then a video, and became a band called Astroid Boys. 6 years went on, that’s all I was doing. Touring, one of our vocalists went to prison so I was on mic duties for a year and a half. Stage diving, producing. When that ceased to exist, the natural progression was to go back to what I was doing in the first place and carry on producing records that I liked. That’s when I started doing the grime edits. Your core message is ‘“there’s always a route in – no matter where you come from” – talk to me about this statement. Why is this important for you to share with others? Newport, where I come from, is very working class. Everyone is very proud of their working class identity. Everyone does the best that they can, regardless of their situation. By situation I mean, there’s a lot of crime and poverty. There’s a lot of struggle. I wasn’t brought into music through nepotism, my parents weren’t in music, my dad just liked music, so I had some kind of ear for music. But there was no showing of the industry, no showing of the different roles, you’re not taught that because there’s a survival element to school and the wider community. You should get a job that pays you well, 30k a year. Get a partner, get a mortgage, pay that off for 25 years. Have a holiday every year, then, once it’s paid off, go on holiday twice a year… and that’s amazing and it works, but that’s what I thought you had to do growing up in a working class city, you’re not shown another way. Basically, you don’t have to fall within the confines of your society or wealth bracket or microcosm. You can get into anywhere if you really care about it, if you’re intrigued or interested. I’ve seen so many people who are incredibly creative and they have no resources. They don’t know how it all works, and they all deserve as much, if not more, a shot at being successful. They deserve opportunities more than someone getting them just because their parents know someone. You can find your way in through reaching out, being curious. You can do it. Mine was messaging someone on Myspace. What do you think is the key to standing out in this modern age of music creation? I think passion is the main thing. If you want to give something back rather than just always being a consumerist – whether that’s creatively, sonically or vocally – then you have to be passionate enough about it to not feel too knocked down when something doesn’t do what you thought it would. You have to be driven by the want to do it and not by the metrics that define success. Why did you create the project in the first place? What are you trying to say? What do you care about? Being passionate about the organic ethos of you and what you care about. Maintaining that is of the utmost importance, in my opinion. And then staying curious. Stay open. Be open-minded and well informed. Be honest about when you don’t feel informed or know the answers, have the honesty to say you don’t know that artist or you don’t know that thing. It’s a very difficult thing to get there, to get that level of comfortability as a person. You have to work on that first and foremost, being honest and becoming that sort of person so that when you do put something out there, you’re not doing it for a gain of ego, you’re doing it from a heartfelt place. Usually that connects with people a bit more too, ‘cause people see themselves in you. They like how vulnerable you’re being, and sometimes that speaks more than the art itself.

  16. Tomorrowland 2025 is shaping up to be a landmark event for electronic music fans, particularly those who have followed the legendary journey of Axwell, Sebastian Ingrosso, and Steve Angello. The trio will present two vastly different performances that reflect their artistic evolution. These include an intimate back-to-back-to-back set at the Crystal Garden Stage and a full-fledged Swedish House Mafia spectacle on the Mainstage. Each performance promises a unique experience, giving fans a rare opportunity to explore the depth and diversity of their sound. Crystal Garden: A Nod to Their RootsOn the first weekend of Tomorrowland 2025, the Crystal Garden stage will host Axwell, Ingrosso, and Angello for a back-to-back-to-back performance. This rare set represents a return to their roots, offering a glimpse into the music that influenced them before they became global icons. Unlike the large-scale energy of a Swedish House Mafia show, this performance is expected to focus on house music’s more underground and experimental elements. The Crystal Garden stage has a reputation for providing a cozy, immersive environment, making it the perfect setting for this introspective journey. Fans should expect a curated selection of vintage house tracks, deep cuts, and possibly even unreleased edits from their personal archives. This performance will allow the trio to break free from the confines of commercial expectations and deliver something more personal and raw. For attendees, this set is an invitation to connect with the trio on a deeper level, hearing the music that defined their early years while experiencing their creative synergy in its purest form. The close proximity of the audience to the performers will only amplify the sense of intimacy, creating a moment that feels rare and unrepeatable. The Mainstage: Swedish House Mafia at Their PeakTomorrowland 2025 will feature a Swedish House Mafia performance on the Mainstage, showcasing the trio’s unmistakable sound that has become synonymous with the golden age of progressive house. Unlike the Crystal Garden Set, which dives into the roots of house music, this Mainstage performance will focus on the energy and anthems that have defined their global success. Drawing inspiration from their 2024 Tomorrowland Mainstage appearance, fans can expect a carefully curated setlist that blends their iconic tracks with more recent productions. Their classics, such as “Greyhound,” “Save the World,” and “Miami 2 Ibiza,” are likely to make an appearance, evoking memories of their peak festival years. Tracks like “Don’t You Worry Child” and “Moth to a Flame” may also be performed, continuing their tradition of merging timeless hits with fresh releases. Swedish House Mafia performances often feature live reworks and exclusive mashups, adding unique elements to their sets. Their ability to seamlessly transition between euphoric, melody-driven moments and high-energy drops ensures their sets resonate with both long-time fans and new listeners. While their shows are centered on the music itself, fans can expect a production that aligns with the raw essence of the tracks, free from overly theatrical visuals. This Mainstage performance will celebrate the trio’s enduring impact on electronic music. It will serve as a reminder of how Swedish House Mafia became icons of the genre, from their rise in the early 2010s to their resurgence as global headliners. Attendees will experience the anthems that have defined festival culture, delivered with the energy and cohesion that only Axwell, Sebastian Ingrosso, and Steve Angello can provide. A Closer Look at Their Individual ImpactWhile Swedish House Mafia is a powerhouse collective, the individual pursuits of Axwell, Sebastian Ingrosso, and Steve Angello have greatly enriched their artistry. Axwell’s decision to sell Axtone Records to Pophouse Entertainment in late 2024 marked a significant shift, allowing him to focus more on creative endeavors and collaborations. Ingrosso, known for his willingness to explore new styles, has been involved in various experimental projects, broadening his musical palette. Angello, as the head of SIZE Records, continues to push boundaries and mentor up-and-coming talent. These individual efforts add layers of depth to their collective performances. Fans can expect subtle influences from their solo projects to permeate both the Crystal Garden and Mainstage sets, offering a nuanced listening experience. Comparing the Two Performances: Contrasting WorldsThe dual performances at Tomorrowland 2025 highlight the versatility of Axwell, Ingrosso, and Angello. The back-to-back-to-back set at Crystal Garden is a deep dive into their artistic foundation, providing a more personal and intimate connection. It is a tribute to house music purists who value the genre’s roots and the creative freedom it allows. In contrast, the Swedish House Mafia Mainstage performance represents their global appeal and ability to command massive crowds. It is a celebration of their hits, their production prowess, and the role they have played in shaping the modern festival experience. Together, these sets showcase both the underground and mainstream facets of their artistry, making Tomorrowland 2025 a must-attend event for fans old and new. Why Tomorrowland 2025 Is a Landmark EventTomorrowland has always been more than just a music festival, it is a cultural phenomenon that bridges the past, present, and future of electronic music. The inclusion of these two performances by Axwell, Sebastian Ingrosso, and Steve Angello underscores this ethos, offering fans a chance to experience the breadth of their influence in a single weekend. The Crystal Garden Set will resonate with those seeking connection, nostalgia, and discovery, while the Mainstage show will satisfy the desire for energy, spectacle, and anthemic moments. For fans of electronic music, this dual offering provides a comprehensive look at the trio’s impact and evolution. Tomorrowland 2025 is not just a festival lineup, it is a living testament to the enduring power of house music and the artists who continue to redefine its possibilities. For those lucky enough to attend, these performances will serve as both a celebration and an inspiration, leaving a lasting impression that will extend far beyond the festival grounds.

  19. Amsterdam, February 28th, 2025 — Following up last month’s hit ‘Road Runner’, Loco Dice returns with his latest single ‘Ice Cold Dealer’, featuring rap-legend Haftbefehl. Out today via Virgin Records, this collaboration marks a significant intersection of Loco Dice’s pioneering techno and hip-hop roots, alongside Haftbefehl’s iconic status in the German rap scene. The track brings together two of the most influential figures from their respective worlds, each with a rich legacy that is deeply rooted in Germany’s modern music culture. With a solid hit-streak and an unrivalled lineup of collaborations, ‘Ice Cold Dealer’ is still just the tip of the iceberg on Dice’s massive year ahead. ‘Ice Cold Dealer’ sees Loco Dice return to his early roots, showcasing his hallmark ability to seamlessly blend influences of tech-house and hip-hop. As a young DJ in the early 1990s, Dice honed his skills mixing hip-hop tracks, developing a rhythmic intuition that would later shape his techno productions. This time around, Dice’s signature fusion of genres comes in collaboration with one of Germany’s most beloved and legendary rappers, Haftbefehl, widely known for his multi-platinum hits ‘069’ and ‘RADW’. On this powerhouse collaboration, ‘Ice Cold Dealer’ opens with a minimal production joined by Haftbefehl’s unmistakably gritty vocals. Just as listeners are met with the opening lyrics, the track pulls them into a low, droning 808 bassline that melts beneath layered claps and uptempo frequencies. By synergistically tapping into both the resurgence of raunchy 00’s party music and heavy UK garage influences, Dice and Haftbefehl have set up ‘Ice Cold Dealer’ to be yet another universally-loved club weapon. Speaking about the collaboration, Loco Dice shared: “There aren’t many German rappers who talk about things I can truly relate to. Haftbefehl is one of them. He speaks about the very reality I grew up with on the streets of Germany. The way he raps is the same way we speak in the hood — raw, real, and unfiltered. His music captures the essence of life in urban Germany, particularly in immigrant communities. It’s about crime, survival, family, and the daily struggles of growing up in a tough environment. We came from nothing and faced the same struggles, but we made it. We built something out of all the challenges we had to overcome. It’s the same hustle, the same drive to rise above the odds and create our own path.” ‘Ice Cold Dealer’ provides a fresh taste of Loco Dice’s upcoming project, Purple Jam, which will be the German DJ/producer’s fourth studio album. This track marks a significant moment in the artist’s evolving sound, with more exciting collaborations on the horizon. As anticipation builds for the album’s full release, fans can look forward to even more club-worthy tracks from Loco Dice in the months to come. ‘Ice Cold Dealer’ is out now on all streaming platforms via Virgin Records. 22. There aren’t many artists who’ve soundtracked the birth of dance music and are still leading its development more than three decades later. There are even less who have gifted both the club and pop scenes with unforgettable musical moments that get talked about in hushed tones years after their creation. Dave Seaman is one of a select few. Whether it’s one of his spine-tingling Global Underground or Renaissance CDs that’s still burning a hole in your stereo years after its purchase, or the perfect pop of Kylie’s ‘Confide In Me’ that he co-wrote, produced and remixed, there’s very few with their heart in electronic music who haven’t been touched by his oeuvre in one form or another. Getting to know Dave Seaman Introduce yourself in a few sentences. Ok just for the sake of variation, I asked Chat GPT to answer this one for me and to be fair, I think it’s done a far more entertaining job than my usual staid standard response… “Hey there, I’m DJ Dave Seaman, bringing you the finest in electronic dance music from the heart of the dancefloor. With years of spinning some of the biggest tracks and crafting unforgettable nights, I’m here to keep the beats pumping and the energy high. Whether it’s a deep house groove or a soaring trance anthem, I’m all about creating an immersive experience that makes you move. Let’s get this party started!” Is there a story behind your artist name? No not really, it’s just my name. Do you think I’d choose Dave Seaman as an alias?! Do you have any other aliases past of present? Brothers In Rhythm, Ewan Hoo’s Army, Brothers Luv Dubs, Creative Thieves, Group Therapy, Nunchi Coup. Tell us about your first performance opportunity and how it fueled your passion.. I was 13 years old. It was for a 12 year old’s birthday party at St. Mary’s Church Hall in Garforth, Leeds in 1981 using one dansette turntable and a tape deck to go from one track to the next. I seem to remember Men At Work’s ‘Down Under’ was the biggest track of the night. I was forever hooked from that moment onwards. How would you encourage emerging artists wanting to break through? Be patient but persistent, focussed and humble, and surround yourself with the best team of like-minded, talented people you’re able to recruit. Most of all, enjoy the ride. The destination is sometimes not as memorable as the adventures along the way. Share your favourite clubbing memory. Jeez. Too many to remember. I’ve been fortunate enough to experience some amazing parties. One that does instantly spring to mind though is Renaissance’s 2nd birthday at The Que Club in Birmingham. I vividly remember being up in the rafters at the very back of the club, high above everything that was going on and having a moment of clarity that this scene that we’d all been living and breathing for the previous few years was really only just beginning. It wasn’t just another passing fad. This cultural revolution was here to stay. And true enough, here we still all are. Provide an outlandish rider (be creative). Bubble Wrap Room: A whole room lined with bubble wrap that must be popped only by the DJ during their performance for optimal energy release. Miniature Theme Park: A small-scale, fully functional theme park with a roller coaster, carousel, and funhouse mirror maze, set up backstage for the DJ’s relaxation and inspiration before the show. Floating DJ Booth: A DJ booth that levitates three feet off the ground, supported by a system of invisible wires or magnetic fields, giving the illusion of floating while performing. Custom Mascots: A set of personalized mascots that resemble mythical creatures of the DJ’s own design, complete with elaborate costumes and choreographed dance routines to perform during the set breaks. Mystical Ice Sculptures: A series of intricate ice sculptures, including a DJ booth and various mythical creatures, which must be melted and refrozen in a specific ritualistic pattern before each performance. Teleportation Pods: Two “teleportation pods” that resemble futuristic transport devices, used for quick entry and exit from the venue, complete with faux sci-fi sound effects and light shows. Personal Art Gallery: An art gallery showcasing surreal and abstract works of art created specifically for the DJ, with interactive installations that respond to the music being played. Customized Light Show: A light show that synchronizes not just with the music but also with the DJ’s heartbeat, monitored in real-time through a discreet wearable device. Personal Weather System: A small-scale weather system that can create a light mist or gentle snowfall on stage, adjusted to match the DJ’s mood and the vibe of the performance. Reversed Gravity Zone: A special “reversed gravity” zone where the DJ can experience a sensation of weightlessness during their set, using special equipment to simulate zero-gravity conditions. Describe yourself using a famous quote.. Oh, this is definitely another one for Chat GPT.. “We are the music makers, and we are the dreamers of dreams’ by Arthur O’Shaughnessy — always pushing the boundaries, crafting the beats that make people move, and dreaming big in the world of electronic music.” Or how about this one? “Music is the shorthand of emotion’ by Leo Tolstoy — through my beats and mixes, I translate the depths of feeling into rhythm and sound, connecting with listeners on a profound level.” HaHa! Couldn’t have put it better myself. Which song do you wish you’d written? (Include a YouTube link) ‘Gorecki’ by Lamb: Music is… The great communicator, the universal language, the healing force. Tell us about your plans for 2025. I’ve just released an extended, more DJ friendly version of our debut single ‘Voice Recognition’ under the Ewan Hoo’s Army alias, which is a new artist project with John ‘Quivver’ Graham that is more songwriter-led and a little less dance floor focused. Plus, there’s a remix by Trilucid that is getting huge club and DJ support too. Listen here: https://bit.ly/vr-mixes Last month, I also released a new solo single on Franky Wah’s Shen Label called ‘Venus Flytrap’ featuring Car Golden which has been a staple in my sets over the last 6 months. There are more singles scheduled on my own Selador label, Sudbeat, Mobilee, Music To Die For and more leading up to the summer. And I’m going to be very busy touring for pretty much most of the year. We’ve got lots of events planned with Selador in Glasgow, Amsterdam, Birmingham and our Ibiza residency at Akasha, plus I have shows in North and South America including incredible venues like Stereo in Montreal, Bar Americas in Guadalajara and Flash in Washington DC, and amazing festivals like Noisily, Bestival and Balance Croatia. Plus, I have further Club Symphony Orchestral shows with my Brothers in Rhythm partner Steve Anderson in Australia and Ireland for Lush!. More than enough to keep me busy! 24. Progressive House Is Back—And This Time, It’s PersonalIf you’ve been following festival lineups and artist movements lately, you might have noticed something strange—something we haven’t seen in almost a decade. Progressive house is creeping back into the spotlight, and 2025 is shaping up to be the genre’s biggest comeback year since its golden era (2012-2015). The signs are everywhere: Tomorrowland 2025’s stacked B2Bs – Third Party b2b Matisse & Sadko, DubVision b2b Third Party A shift in festival programming – More mainstage bookings for progressive-heavy artists The Chainsmokers throwing it back at EDC Thailand 2025 – dropping remixes and tracks reminiscent of early progressive house Streaming numbers surging – More people rediscovering the sound that once defined EDM’s peak But why now? What’s making progressive house cool again in 2025? And could we be heading into a new golden era of euphoric melodies and anthemic drops? Let’s break it down. Flashback: When Progressive House Ruled the WorldRewind to 2012-2015, and progressive house was the undisputed king of festival mainstages. Every festival, every aftermovie, every peak-time slot was filled with massive, emotional, hands-in-the-air anthems. Swedish House Mafia – Don’t You Worry Child Alesso – If I Lose Myself (Remix) Axwell /\ Ingrosso – Sun is Shining Alesso – Years Third Party – Live ForeverIt wasn’t just about the drop, progressive house was about the journey. The soaring synths, the euphoric melodies, the emotional breakdowns. It was music that made you feel invincible. And then? The scene shifted. By 2016-2017, future bass, tech house, and bass-heavy sounds took over. Progressive house, once the heart and soul of EDM, got pushed to the background. Many of its biggest artists either pivoted or disappeared from the spotlight. But now, the tides are turning. Why Progressive House Is Thriving Again in 2025Beyond festivals and artist endorsements, the real reason progressive house is experiencing a major comeback lies in a combination of shifting audience preferences, streaming-driven discovery, and a renewed focus on melody and emotion in dance music. A Demand for Emotion and MusicalityOne of the biggest factors behind progressive house’s resurgence is a shift away from the repetitive, groove-heavy sounds that dominated festival circuits in recent years. The rise of tech house and deep house provided club-focused energy, but for many festival-goers, something was missing—the euphoric, melody-driven highs that progressive house delivers. Audiences aren’t just looking for tracks that work in a club; they want music that feels like a journey. Progressive house fills that gap by blending massive emotional breakdowns with driving energy, creating the kind of cathartic moments that define festival mainstages. In an era where dance music has become increasingly fragmented, progressive house offers something universal: emotion, melody, and power. Streaming and Algorithmic DiscoveryAnother huge factor fueling this revival is how streaming platforms are reshaping music discovery. While festival trends once dictated what genres flourished, algorithm-driven discovery on platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube are exposing millions of listeners to progressive house tracks—new and old alike. Older anthems from progressive house’s peak era (2012-2015) are getting rediscovered by younger fans who weren’t part of the original movement. Playlists like “Progressive House 2025” are seeing a surge in engagement, introducing both legacy and emerging artists to a new audience. Algorithm-based recommendations are pushing progressive house tracks into rotation, leading to increased streams and renewed interest in the genre.A New Wave of Producers Pushing the Sound ForwardWhile veteran names like Axwell, Alesso, and Third Party remain central to the genre’s return, a new generation of producers is redefining what progressive house sounds like in 2025. Artists like Sentinel, Roan Shenoyy, ARTY’s alias ALPHA 9, and Matt Fax are blending progressive house with modern production techniques, making it more cinematic and immersive than ever. Instead of simply recreating the 2014 sound, this new wave of artists is expanding the genre, incorporating elements of trance, melodic techno, and cinematic synth work to push progressive house forward. The result? A more evolved and dynamic sound that resonates with both old and new listeners. A Response to Over-Saturation in Other GenresDance music thrives on cycles. Over the past few years, tech house and deep house dominated, with nearly every major DJ playing some variation of groove-driven, bass-heavy tracks. While those genres still have a place, the lack of melody and emotional depth left a gap that progressive house is now filling. Even within mainstream EDM, artists who previously leaned toward bass-heavy festival sounds are experimenting with more melodic elements. You can hear this in new productions across multiple genres, where producers are bringing back breakdowns, layering in vocal-driven melodies, and allowing for longer, more euphoric builds, all core elements of progressive house. The Role of Nostalgia in Music TrendsThere’s no denying that nostalgia is a powerful force in music. But what’s happening with progressive house isn’t just a throwback, it’s a reinvention. The 2012-2015 era is widely seen as EDM’s golden age, and many listeners who grew up during that time are now in their mid-to-late 20s or early 30s. For them, progressive house represents more than just a genre—it’s tied to the most iconic moments of their early festival experiences. At the same time, younger audiences are discovering this era for the first time, drawn to the emotional intensity and larger-than-life energy that defined it. This blending of old and new fans is giving progressive house a second life—one that feels like a natural evolution rather than a forced revival. What Happens Next? With momentum building, the next phase of progressive house’s comeback depends on how artists and industry leaders continue to shape its trajectory. Here’s what to watch: How long will this trend last? The biggest challenge is ensuring progressive house doesn’t fall into the same pattern that led to its decline, overproduction and a lack of evolution. Artists pushing the genre forward will be key. Will more artists jump on board? Some producers who left progressive house for other styles could return, especially as demand increases. If more mainstream EDM artists embrace the sound again, it could lead to an even bigger wave. How will streaming platforms influence growth? If algorithmic discovery continues driving high engagement, labels will invest more into progressive house artists, keeping the genre in the spotlight. What’s clear is that progressive house never truly disappeared….it just needed the right moment to return. And with everything happening in 2025, it looks like that moment has arrived.
  25. Carl Cox's return to Detroit's Movement Festival has been delayed by one year, he announced this week. The British techno legend was slated to return for the first time in eight years with a special "Hybrid Live" performance. To the dismay of fans, he revealed that scheduling conflicts preclude him from delivering his hotly anticipated performance, which has now been postponed to 2026. "I'm sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, but I promise to make it worth the wait," Cox said in a statement. "When I return, I'll bring my full live show experience, and it's going to be epic! Thank you for your understanding and continued support. See you all in 2026 for an unforgettable show!" While the postponement of Cox's return to Hart Plaza is disappointing, Movement's organizers have recruited a hometown legend to headline in his place. Detroit techno pioneer Jeff Mills will instead close out Movement's main stage on the first night of the festival. In addition to Mills, Movement 2025 will feature performances by Charlotte de Witte, Chase & Status, Boys Noize, Nina Kraviz, John Summit, Sara Landry, Jaime xx, Claude VonStroke and many more.
