Rich DietZ, Danth and Alex Martin Drop Seductive House Banger, "Daddy"
Rich DietZ have always had a flair for making tech house feel downright scandalous, but they've outdone themselves this time. The red-hot duo is back with "Daddy," teaming up with Danth and Alex Martin to drop a tech house anthem dripping with desire. A steamy dive into club decadence, it's the kind of track that whispers in your ear and pulls you onto the dancefloor. Anchored by a signature DietZ bassline so thick you could spread it on toast, "Daddy" weaves elements of techno and future rave into a sultry, late-night anthem. Those touches give it a modern edge, but the heartbeat of this banger is its provocative vocal hook. Equal parts menace and allure, it's a come-hither challenge that dares us to surrender to the dancefloor's dark, sweaty promise. The seductive lyric, "Daddy, are you gonna come my way?" rides the groove with an irresistible swagger, teasing and taunting as the beat grows darker and more insistent. The release follows Rich DietZ's breakthrough remix of A$AP Ferg's "Work," produced alongside Proppa and Smith & Sorren. That track has become a sleeper hit, receiving consistent DJ support from Tiësto, Alesso and Swedish House Mafia, among others. "Daddy" is out now via IMPVLSE Records. Fred again.. Reflects on Life's Highs and Lows With "two more days"
Fred again.. is back with two more days, an expansion of his recent album ten days that features a pair of new singles. While "light dark light" (with Angie McMahon) is a reflective, slow-burning song that delves into life's ebbs and flows, "little mystery" (with John Martyn) is a lively, danceable tune filled with uplifting energy. Fred again.. previously sampled McMahon, who he's called one of his "fav singers ever," in 2021's "Angie (i’ve been lost)." His admiration shines through in "light dark light," wherein he reimagines McMahon’s track "Making It Through" from her 2023 album Light, Dark, Light Again. Her raspy, emotive vocals soar over moving synths as she delivers poetic lyrics about life’s shifting cycles. Fred revealed that he created this song just hours before debuting it at Glastonbury during what he described as a "darker" period of his life, adding that "life gets lights again." On the flip side, "little mystery" draws from Martyn's soulful 1987 classic, "Sweet Little Mystery." The track pairs his ageless voice with bubbly, uplifting synths that build into a groovy bassline. As the song progresses, the rhythm intensifies to create a melody that invites us to dance and lose ourselves in the beat. two more days is out now. ‘Meteor’ is Hannes Bieger’s Interstellar Odyssey
With Meteor, the most recent track from his much-awaited album Galaxies, Hannes Bieger is still exploring cosmology. Meteor shows Bieger’s unmatched ability to transfer heavenly grandeur into sound by deftly combining existential ideas, deep human connection, and the amazing enormity of the universe. The listener is sent into the darkest recesses of space, where shadows stretch endlessly and stars shine like ancient sentinels from the minute the five-note melody starts. This strong and captivating melody grounds the music, a lighthouse across its complex layers of sound. The melody opens and closes as the piece develops, giving the music both tension and release like the pulse of a far-off supernova. Like the gravitational pull of a celestial entity driving everything in its orbit, the low-end frequencies forward the listener. Synthesizers create rich sound environments that shimmer and undulate to reflect the beauty and mystery of the universe. A reoccurring motif in Bieger’s work, the mechanical and the human are bridged in the precision-engineered beats by an organic warmth. But the track’s breakdowns really transport. These quiet times seem to be cosmic pauses, calling contemplation among the expanse. The second breakdown accentuates Meteor’s captivating character as a siren call to the endless. The tune catches the dual character of its namesake—the Meteor as both an item of wonder and an unimaginably powerful force—through these slower sections. Fundamentally, Meteor is evidence of Bieger’s craft. Every sound, every layer, every minute movement is painstakingly created to inspire the wonder of seeing the universe in motion. This is an odyssey, a multisensory experience that ties us to the stars and reminds us of the love—the energy—that ties all things together; it is not only a song. Close your eyes, let the song guide you beyond eternity, and let Meteor. It leaves behind a trail of wonder, an invitation to dream, and a reminder that we are never really alone even in the grandness of space as it soars across the galaxy. The Ten Days album has been a rollercoaster of emotions and musical exploration for both Fred again.. and his devoted fans. Avicii – I’M TIM: A New Netflix Documentary
On December 31st, Netflix is releasing a highly anticipated documentary about the life and legacy of our long lost hero, Avicii(Tim Bergling). The documentary offers an intimate and powerful look into his life and how he became one of electronic dance music’s most iconic figures. Avicii’s untimely passing in 2018 shook the music world. The documentary reveals the personal journey behind his rise to fame and the pressures he faced along the way. It offers a reflection on the complexities of stardom and rise-to-fame in the modern music industry. “Before there was Avicii, there was just Tim. For the first time through his own words, witness the journey of a shy but prodigious musical talent who would soon become one of the defining artists of his generation.” film synopsis, Netflix Everybody high and low knows who Avicii is. Now, and during his career his music circulated top radio stations, video productions, social media trends, and more. He has double digit tracks that have a billion plays or more like ‘Wake Me Up‘, ‘Levels‘, and ‘Hey Brother‘. He favored the genres of progressive house and electro-house music but didn’t shy away from being a pioneer. His sound brought EDM into the mainstream, combining folk, rock, and electronic elements. His debut album,”True“, released in 2013, achieved commercial success and solidified his place as one of the world’s best DJs. The Netflix Documentary: Avicii – I’m Tim This documentary, directed by Henrik Burman explores the challenges Avicii had navigating fame and its mental and physical challenges. The film delves deep through exclusive footage, behind-the-scenes moments, and interviews with friends, family, and collaborators. His challenges and his desire for a more peaceful existence led to his decision to quit performing live shows. Sadly, the pressures of fame persisted and never truly left him. This raw and emotional exploration will offer fans a deeper understanding of his inner world. Also, will showcase the man who created some of the most beloved anthems in electronic music. Tim: A book revealing these details before the film Years before the documentary was announced, a book titled Tim was released, offering a more detailed and personal look at the DJ’s life. If you know very little about the back story of Avicii, you might want to pick this one up before the show. The book covers his struggles with mental health, his personal battles, and his relationships. I personally couldn’t wait until this book was released and read it days after it was published. One thing I read other than the beauty behind the Avicii project was the dark lessons that come with prescribed medication. Hopefully, between the published book and Netflix’s documentary, Tim’s story will bring an awareness to the music scene that everybody should know. “One day you’ll leave this world behind, so live a life you will remember” – ‘The Nights‘ by Avicii Tim: Tribute album Since Avicii’s passing, one album I listen to frequently is his tribute album titled “Tim“. His family and collaborators worked to honor his memory through this master piece. Released in 2019, the album features previously unreleased tracks that Avicii had been working on before his death. The album’s release was met with an outpouring of support from the electronic music community. The Tim album includes the hit single ‘Heaven‘, which was completed by Avicii’s team with input from his family. This track, along with others on the album, reflects the essence of Avicii’s sound. A mix of memorable lyrics, alternative genres, and uplifting melodies. Artists like Aloe Blacc, Rita Ora, ARIZONA, and Imagine Dragons also made an appearance with standout tracks such as ‘SOS‘, ‘Hold The Line‘, and ‘Fades Away‘. This collection serves as a powerful reminder of the impact Avicii had on the music industry and the community he built. The proceeds from the releases were donated to the Tim Bergling Foundation. Which was established to support mental health awareness and suicide prevention. Through the album, Avicii’s legacy continues to inspire both music lovers, advocates for mental health, and ensures that his story and his message live on. MRAK’s Asian Debut: A New Chapter Unfolds at NEON Countdown Bangkok
The countdown has begun, and this December, Bangkok will become the epicenter of electronic music as NEON Countdown 2024 takes over Wonder World Extreme Park. Among the stellar lineup of global superstars lies something truly special—a performance that will mark a new chapter in Asia’s music scene: MRAK’s debut with the show We Don’t Follow. For those in the know, MRAK isn’t just another name on the roster. It’s the solo endeavor of Carmine Conte, half of the iconic Tale of Us, whose Afterlife label and performances have reshaped melodic techno. But MRAK isn’t a spin-off or an afterthought—it’s an entirely different dimension of sound. His music reaches deep, layering textures and rhythms into an experience that feels personal and raw. This isn’t about drops and hype; it’s about storytelling through sound. With a catalog that includes One and his recent EP, The Pledge, MRAK’s live sets blur the line between concert and narrative. Each note feels intentional, pulling you further into an introspective journey. Tracks like “Vacio” and “The World Is Yours” showcase his ability to evoke emotion through complex arrangements, offering something much more than just music—it’s a moment of connection. NEON Countdown has already solidified its place as a must-attend event in Southeast Asia, and with good reason. Where else will you find Martin Garrix, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Lost Frequencies, Indira Paganotto and Oliver Heldens as Hi-Lo all on the same lineup for New Years Eve? But even with such heavyweights sharing the stage, MRAK stands out. His debut in Asia feels like a milestone—not just for him, but for the entire electronic music scene in the region. If you’ve been craving a set that’s less about formula and more about artistry, MRAK’s performance of We Don’t Follow is the one to catch. Imagine ending 2024 surrounded by soundscapes that make you reflect on the year gone by, while setting the tone for the year ahead. This is your chance to witness an artist truly in his element, stepping into new territory and taking you with him. Tickets are already moving fast, and it’s easy to see why. NEON Countdown isn’t just another festival—it’s an experience. Grab your passes, gather your crew, and get ready to start the new year the way it should be: immersed in music that moves you. Don’t just hear about it later—be there for MRAK’s first step onto an Asian stage. This is a moment you’ll want to say you were part of.

Alok Talks 808 Festival, Evolving Sets, Creative Challenges & More
Bangkok’s vibrant energy came alive as international DJ sensation Alok returned to the city for another unforgettable night at 808 Festival. A year had passed since his last appearance, and the excitement in the air was palpable. In an exclusive interview with Preetika, Alok shared insights about his evolving sets, his enduring position on DJ Mag, and the creative challenges of crafting world-class performances. From the dazzling laser displays of his Bangkok set to the monumental pyramid shows in Brazil, Alok reflects on his journey as an artist staying true to his vision while navigating the ever-changing music industry. Welcome back to Bangkok. It’s been a year. How do you feel? Well, I feel very pleased to be back here. It wasn’t planned, but I was doing this Asia tour and then it actually happened at the last minute. You’re back at 808, what can you tell us that’s different about this year versus last year? Like the crowd, the set and your feelings? Well, you know the set that I did this year was very different from last year. I just noticed that the lineup is very different from last year, there’s way less EDM, and it’s going more toward the underground direction. I felt I also had to adapt myself so I did a more edgy set which is what I perform on major festivals. We had the extra production and I bought some extra lasers, we had about 40 extra lasers. We really like lasers. So, the next question I have is about your DJ Mag position. You’ve held the same position for four years and it’s a really big deal because it’s a reflection of the love people have for you. Could you tell us about that? Well, I feel that like DJ Mag, it’s kind of like it’s important for some regions for others not really. And it’s kind of like at the end of the day, to be a Brazilian artist and cross borders is something very challenging. It’s very hard to be here and DJ Mag is an important platform to give visibility to your work. So I feel that DJ Mag has this potential for my art so it’s kind of important for some regions. So you mentioned that you’ve now crossed the frontier and with your shows in Brazil like the pyramid structure, that’s taking it to the next level.. Yeah we’re planning to do shows around the world but it’s kind of difficult to do because I need a lot of people to fill up the pyramid as the pyramid is 30 meters high. The first we did was for 250,000 people so we need major crowds. It must be exhilarating when you’re up there and you see the crowds… It’s an amazing feeling because it’s a place where we can really conduct the show one-hundred percent with our own creativity. It’s not like here where I have to share the stage with other artists so I have to adapt myself to this scenario, but there, we create the whole scenario and the whole atmosphere and narrative. It’s something that we can really create amazing stuff with. So, we’ve seen that you have a huge following such as with your support for DJ Mag and more, what are some things you can share for the fans? There’s a lot of things coming up but I’m just living with the moment. We just launched a song today and I’m super excited about it because it’s doing well on the platforms and it’s a bit surprising because we weren’t expecting such a big feedback. Nowadays to play the game of the music industry is crazy. At the end of the day what fans can expect and I’m going to be very true about this is that I’m going to stay true to my style and genuine with what I believe. And I’m not going to play the music industry game, but I’m just going to do what I believe. Looking toward the new year, 2025, are there any special moments you’d like to reflect on and any moments you’d like to carry on with you into the next year or hope to expand on? There are so many amazing moments. I’m honestly so grateful for every day. I always ask to open the right doors and close the wrong ones. Even for the stuff that didn’t turn out how I planned, I’m also grateful for that. I’m just so pleased. Thank you for sitting with me. Your set today really invoked a lot of nostalgia. Thank you. I appreciate it.

JD Farrell and Alexion team up for ‘Illusive Thoughts’
With their most recent partnership, “Illusive Thoughts,” Alexion and JD Farrell have produced something rather remarkable. Published on VANDIT Alternative, Paul van Dyk’s forward-looking imprint, the song is a mesmerizing mix of musical depth and progressive drive that spans mainstage appeal with underground authenticity. Masterclass in tension and release, “Illusive Thoughts” introduces mesmerizing, smoke-like voices thread over the track providing an ethereal touch. On the other end, shadowy saw waves and rolling midbass create an ambient basis. Driven by strong rhythm parts that demand movement, the production turns into euphoric highs balanced by atmospheric breaks that provide times of reflection. Under club strobes or during a festival sunset set, this kind of dynamic range appeals equally at 2 AM. Both from the Southeast, Alexion, and JD Farrell have brought their own tastes into perfect harmony. Inspired by his rising profile with cosigns from heavyweights like Martin Garrix and Alok, Alexion’s cinematic touch balances Farrell’s “90s-inspired progressive energy,” developed via releases on Nora en Pure’s Purified Records. Taken together, they have created a dark, seductive, and unquestionably appealing sound. It makes sense to release on VANDIT Alternative. Paul van Dyk’s label has long been a center for songs that defy expectations yet nevertheless fit a wide listenership. With “Illusive Thoughts,” Alexion and Farrell have presented a single equally at home on Beatport’s progressive charts—where it’s already gone to #3—as well as their mainstage rankings, where it claimed #9 inside just five days. This is a statement piece, not only a club banger. DJs all around would be wise to include this one into their kits. Though maybe only wishful thinking, its anthemic, throbbing intensity screams for a 15-minute extended version. From East Coast venues to West Coast celebrations, “Illusive Thoughts” seems to spark dance floors everywhere. Fans of melodic techno and progressive house should definitely include this on their playlist. And now is the chance for those still to see Alexion or JD Farrell live to start that. These two skills are assured to bring the heat to dancefloors close by even with the chill of winter. Whether you enjoy music or DJ, “Illusive Thoughts” is a song you really should not miss. Hardwell and Vorwerk Drop Blistering Hardstyle Track, "Cambodia"
Hardwell's latest single is a thunderous departure, and it's taking no prisoners. Teaming up with the multifaceted hitmaker Vorwerk, "Cambodia" is a hardstyle behemoth, a genre-spanning collision where memorable melody and raw power collide. The track highlights their shared mastery of anthemic dance production after over a decade of friendship. "Once, there was a time when our studios were across the hall from each other," Vorwerk said in a nostalgic Instagram post. "In time, we all went our separate ways. I'm happy our paths crossed again and that we were able to make this awesome tune together." View the original article to see embedded media. Unleashing a stomping cadence coupled with blaring synths, "Cambodia" soars like a phoenix in full flight. The melody is a pure earworm, wrapping around your consciousness with an addictive grip. Zeds Dead Drop Pixel-Perfect Single From Upcoming Album: Listen to "Heartbeat"
It’s not every day a song feels like an artifact from both the past and the future, but Zeds Dead’s "Heartbeat" delivers just that. While the dubstep icons have long been synonymous with bass-heavy dynamics, "Heartbeat" offers a departure, an electro-forward gem that leans into nostalgia without feeling derivative. It's a stylistic pivot and just a taste of what’s to come in Return to the Spectrum of Intergalactic Happiness, their first full-length album in eight years, which thus far is shaping up to be a treasure trove of nostalgic samples and cultural references. Featuring a standout vocal performance by Minke, "Heartbeat" tugs at emotions with earnest delivery and depth. The track's melody rides on a bed of rapid-fire arpeggiated synths, their shimmering tones reminiscent of early 2000s electronic aesthetics. There’s a delicate interplay between warmth and intensity as Zeds Dead's production evokes memories of pixelated screens, retro Winamp players and Windows XP soundscapes. The song feels pleasantly gamified with a touch of wistful energy that distinguishes it from an ordinary club anthem. Return to the Spectrum of Intergalactic Happiness is slated for release in March 2025, with a U.S. tour and new audiovisual show to follow. Reflecting on 808 Festival 2024: Bangkok’s Premier Musical Extravaganza
After a three-day weekend celebrating 808 Festival, it’s time to reflect on what made this festival so great and why it continues to stand as Bangkok’s premier music festival. The lineup was nothing short of amazing, with Anyma debuting his Genesys show in Asia right here in Bangkok. But that wasn’t the only debut—The Outlaw delivered an unforgettable experience, and the Drumcode takeover featuring Adam Beyer and co. added another layer of excellence to the weekend. Let’s dive into what went down over those three incredible days. Day 1: A Nostalgic Warm-UpDay 1 was the perfect warm-up for the jam-packed weekend ahead, easing us into the 808 experience while setting a high bar for what was to come. San Holo’s return to Thailand after a five-year hiatus was nothing short of magical. His ability to seamlessly weave melodic tunes with hard-hitting bangers felt like he was guiding us toward the light, setting an uplifting tone for the night. The crowd’s energy was electric, each drop resonating like a shared heartbeat among fans old and new. Miss Monique followed with a melodic journey that was nothing less than hypnotic. Her set brought a serene calmness to the air, a soothing contrast to the adrenaline-packed sets around her. It was the kind of musical therapy that made you close your eyes, sway, and momentarily forget everything except the rhythm. For me, the highlight of the night was Alok’s set. He didn’t just bring music—he brought memories. His track selection hit me right in the feels, sparking nostalgia for the Y2K days and those early raving years when I was just 20. It’s surreal to think how long it’s been, yet every beat felt like a time machine, reconnecting me with that raw, unfiltered love for dance music. Alok’s blend of old-school vibes and modern energy was a perfect bridge between past and present, a reminder of why I’ve remained a devoted fan of 808 all these years. Closing out the night, Sara Landry made her powerful debut at 808, and it was nothing short of a marathon. Her relentless, hard-hitting techno pushed us to the edge—gasping for breath but still hungry for more. Every track was a force of nature, leaving no room for hesitation or slowing down. It wasn’t just a set; it was an all-out assault on the senses, a masterclass in high-energy pacing that ensured we ended Day 1 with a bang. The day felt like a celebration of first-time acts, nostalgic returns, and musical journeys that reminded us why 808 continues to set the standard for festival excellence. It was only the beginning, and yet it already felt unforgettable. Day 2: Sustainability and Dual-Stage ExcitementAfter recovering from the whirlwind that was Day 1, I decided to explore the venue more thoroughly on Day 2—and stumbled upon something unexpected: 808’s sustainability initiatives in collaboration with Indorama Ventures. Here’s the thing—just like waiting for that text from a trashy ex who never changes is wasted energy, so is tossing away plastic without a second thought. This initiative encouraged us to recycle our plastic bottles, giving waste a meaningful second life. It was a poignant reminder that one person’s trash can indeed become another’s treasure. For us ravers, the treasure is clear: festivals that let us revel in the music we love while also caring for the planet we live on. A standout moment of the day was seeing groups of festival-goers enthusiastically engaging with the recycling drive, turning it into a mini celebration. It was inspiring to witness the rave community come together for a cause that went beyond the music. That sense of collective effort gave the festival an extra layer of meaning, proving that sustainability and good vibes can go hand in hand. The night’s music was another adventure entirely, with two stages attracting our attention. On the mainstage, 4B got the crowd hyped with his energetic performance, seamlessly blending trap and house beats into a set that kept the energy at a peak. Then came Alison Wonderland’s return after five years, delivering a performance that was both emotional and electric, a true testament to her artistry. James Hype brought his unique energy, Chase & Status’ DJ set introduced DnB vibes to the mainstage, and The Outlaw’s debut took the crowd by storm with a dystopian theme. Over at the We Rave You stage, Sadia, Merow, AVAO, JUSTUS, and Klangkuenstler kept things lively with their distinct styles, proving the stage was just as much of a draw as the mainstage. Each artist brought their own flavor to the night, making it impossible to stick to one area for too long without feeling FOMO. For me, The Outlaw’s set stole the show. The production felt like we were dropped into a dystopian world—gritty decorations, pounding beats, and an atmosphere that made everyone feel like part of a unified rebellion. It was immersive, thrilling, and exactly the kind of creative leap that sets 808 apart. The mix of theatrical elements and hard-hitting soundscapes made it an unforgettable experience. Day 2 wasn’t just about incredible music—it was about connection, creativity, and showing how festivals can inspire us to take care of each other and the planet. With sustainability initiatives and dual-stage excitement, 808 proved once again why it’s not just a festival but a movement. Day 3: The Genesys of EuphoriaThe final day was the one we’d all been waiting for: Anyma’s Genesys debut in Thailand. For months, it was all anyone could talk about, myself included. When the moment finally arrived, the excitement in the air was undeniable. Anyma’s massive screen and futuristic visuals combined with his signature soundscapes created an experience that felt otherworldly. It’s easy to see why this show has captured the world’s attention—seeing it firsthand was unforgettable. Every element of Anyma’s set was meticulously crafted, from the massive visuals to the seamless transitions that made the entire performance feel like a single, cohesive narrative. It wasn’t just a set; it was a story—a journey that left the crowd in awe and cemented Anyma as one of the most innovative artists in the scene today. The rest of Day 3 featured another incredible lineup. Laura Van Dam brought her uplifting energy, kicking off the evening with a vibrant set that had everyone moving. Mau P had the crowd chanting along to his iconic anthem, “Drugs From Amsterdam,” creating a unifying moment that could only happen at 808. Then came Zedd’s return after two years, delivering an emotional set filled with fan favorites. Hearing him drop “Clarity” for the sixth time in my life still felt just as powerful as the first. The crowd’s unified singing during “Clarity” was a moment of pure magic, a collective reminder of the healing and connective power of music. On the Drumcode stage, legends like Marie Vaunt, Massano, Bart Skils, and Adam Beyer reminded everyone why techno holds a special place in our hearts. Bart Skils’ closing set was the perfect way to end the festival—a masterclass in why he’s a global icon of techno. Between the Genesys debut, Zedd’s emotional return, and Drumcode’s powerhouse performances, Day 3 delivered everything we love about 808 Festival and more. It wasn’t just a finale—it was the ultimate celebration of music, visuals, and the connection we all share as a rave community. A Festival to Remember808 Festival 2024 wasn’t just another festival. It was a weekend filled with unforgettable moments, powerful performances, and a reminder of why we keep coming back year after year. From the groundbreaking debuts to the sustainability efforts, 808 continues to raise the bar for music festivals in Asia. The sense of community and shared passion for music made this year’s edition even more special. If my stories have convinced you of its magic, be sure to follow 808’s Facebook and Instagram pages for updates on next year’s edition. Trust me—you won’t want to miss it.

WhoMadeWho’s ‘Kiss & Forget’ LP receives remix pack
After a year full of industry recognition and critical praise, WhoMadeWho presents a whole remix package for their eighth studio album Kiss & Forget. Offering fresh ideas on the band’s most recent creative opus, the collection brings together seasoned electronic music players with new talent. The whole Kiss & Forget remix pack Leading the package is the version of “Saturday” by emerging Belgian genius MAXI MERAKI. Renowned for his performances at Tomorrowland and current US tour, Meraki brings his trademark vivid tones to the remix, turning the ambient soundscapes of the original into a melodic masterpiece. “I poured my soul and inventiveness into this Saturday remix,” says Meraki. “It’s me shared through WhoMadeWho’s beat, not just a remix.” The remix pack presents a number of unique fresh takes. Selim Sivade, BARON, Meloko, and Konvex working together as a supergroup turns “Sweet Cuddles” into a deep, groove-driven trip. With his unique mix of melodic house and Middle Eastern inspirations, London-based Rockin Moroccin imbues their work with Egyptian singer/songwriter nour, A3LA. With Fresh off their Ultra Records triumph, Copenhagen’s own Tripolism presents a striking interpretation of “You Belong To No-One,” while Spanish house music master Dennis Cruz offers his rhythmic viewpoint on “Sweet Cuddles“. While Berlin-based producer & Panorama Bar resident Massimiliano Pagliara brings his analog-driven sound to “You Belong To No- One,” Portuguese producer Xinobi teams up with French-Malian-Senegalese artist AWEN for a distinctive take on “Bedside,” merging Xinobi‘s indie-electronic sensibilities with AWEN‘s unique Afro-house influences and powerful vocals to create a cross-cultural electronic cut. WhoMadeWho past year These fresh remixes add to an already outstanding selection of interpretations put on show all year. Dancefloors all around have been dominated by RÜFÜS DU SOL’s globally praised remix of “Miracle” with Adriatique, Mind Against & Dyzen’s approach on “Children,” and CamelPhat’s rendition of “Love Will Save Me” including RY X. While French deep house producer Alex Wann’s rendition of “Heartless,” WhoMadeWho’s collaboration with Kölsch has become one of the most downloaded remixes from the album run. Adam Ten’s remix of “Kiss Me Hard” became a staple in WhoMadeWho’s renowned hybrid DJ sets at major events including Tomorrowland and Burning Man. The 12-track compilation is now available on all digital streaming platforms. The seven new exclusive remixes will also be split between two EPs meant especially for electronic music outlets, EP I available today and EP II following on December 20th. CADMIUM, Tara Louise and Electric Range Team Up for Symphonic Bass Anthem, "The Call"
CADMIUM has teamed up with Tara Louise and Electric Range to create a holy trinity of bass in his stunning new single, "The Call" featuring Zack Merci. The DJ and producer, who recently welcomed his first child, stuns with cinematic production as Louise bursts onto the scene with powerful lyrics like, "I was afraid now I'm frightening / Turn my pain into lightning." She exhibits her range throughout the track through a breathtaking vocal performance with soaring falsettos. Among the heavy-hitting lyrics comes an equally impassioned performance by Electric Range, whose Julliard-trained instrumentalists saturate each drop with dramatic orchestral flourishes. Though it's hard to pin one down, perhaps the most notable moment in "The Call" comes from Electric Range's violinist, who delivers a precise, unfaltering solo at breakneck speeds. And chiseling it all into a track that evokes a sense of invincibility and triumph is CADMIUM, whose masterful bass production has landed him on Black Tiger Sex Machine's label, Kannibalen. Bass Breeds Hypnotism in Lumasi's New EP, "Sun & Moon"
Lumasi is wrapping up breakout year with Sun & Moon, a new EP full of deep, psychedelic bass. Across the five-track project, Lumasi delivers delightfully literal interpretations of each song's title, letting listeners experience his take on their meanings. Sun & Moon includes the previously released tracks "Mourning Dub" and "Deleted" (with SHMUX). The former has proved immensely popular, its title an ode to the Mourning Dove, whose somber coos are present throughout the track. Newly released tracks include "Dreamlike," in which disorienting wubs make us feel like we're ventured through a nonsensical dreamland. This then segues into "Deleted," where robotic voices sound like a virus spreading through a computer system. "Crowd Control" and "Smooth" featuring Ozztin appear last, their stretching downtempo beats like molasses creeping from build to drop and back again. Yawning vowel bass and gentle wind chimes accompany the latter, leaving us thoroughly entranced at the EP's end. Listen to the EP below and find it on streaming platforms here. Listen to Buku's Vibrant Bass EP, "The Unraveled Essence"
Buku peeled back the layers of what made him the artist he is today and shared the sounds straight from his core. Whether he's releasing bass anthems fit for the main stage, or techno suited for a sweaty nightclub as Calvin Stanley, Buku's essence is immediately noticeable. His newest EP, The Unraveled Essence, out now on Of The Trees' Memory Palace, is an introspective journey into the core message and motivations that influence his sound. Buku says the EP isn't just a look at what inspired him in the past, but also a preview of the future. He also revealed in a press release that his late friend, CharlestheFirst, inspired one of the tracks just days after the three-year mark of his tragic death. "The Unraveled Essence EP is derived from my personal and musical past, present and future," Buku explains. "Derived from my vast spectrum of influences, It's a representation of my true artistic intuition. From dancefloor worthy tracks, to the experimental, to the melodic, to an introspective post-rock-electronic track dedicated to our friend Charles—I feel like I've reached out and grasped musical pillars from my future & past simultaneously.. The opening track "TWM" surprises with an introduction that feels meant for a big city nightclub. That is until he blasts the imaginary venue into space with vibrant, intergalactic synths and intense wobbles. Leaning even more into the bass realm, "Like This" layers a grungy, damp bassline beneath crystalline keys, making for a unique tale of two worlds. On "Time," Buku recruits Jessy Covets for a refreshing melodic anthem that feels like a dip in a cool spring after the chaos of the first two tracks. With angelic vocals and uplifting production, the duo created a sound that washes over the listener with every note. Calling upon his more experimental side, "You Know The Drill" morphs with a mutating bassline that grows and expands like a badass sci-fi monster. "Judge Not" is a masterfully produced offering that features intense, crisp production highlighted by layers that feel like water droplets dripping onto a tightly woven drum head. Buku then closes out with an anthem, "The First," which takes its time to build up before bringing the EP home with a flourish. Listen to The Unraveled Essence below and find the new EP on streaming platforms here.
