Bass music fans are rallying to support New Orleans in the wake of the tragic New Year's Day truck attack, organizing a special electronic concert to raise crucial funds for victims and their families.
On Friday, January 10th, bass music star Boogie T will headline "Nola In Need," a special benefit show at ARORA NOLA. The concert aims to bring together the local community and electronic music lovers from across the country in a show of support and solidarity.
With Boogie T leading the charge, the event is set to feature some of the city's best electronic music talent, all united by the common goal of helping those affected by the tragedy. All door proceeds will be donated to the New Orleans New Year's Day Tragedy Fund, a resource launched to provide assistance to the families of the victims and those seriously injured or impacted by the attack.
14 people were killed in the terror attack on the morning of January 1st, when a man drove a pickup truck into a crowd during New Year's celebrations on Bourbon Street, CNN reported. The perpetrator, a 42-year-old Army veteran who had an ISIS flag in the vehicle at the time, was killed in a firefight with officers, the FBI confirmed in a press release.
Tickets to "Nola In Need" are on sale now. You can also donate to the Greater New Orleans Foundation's fund here.

We’re a week into 2025, and it still feels like Christmas morning! Lane 8 has delivered a delightful surprise with three new tracks from his Childish(ish) EP. Fans of the This Never Happened label are in for a treat, as the gift of exceptional music keeps coming. After an amazing ProperNYE B2B set with Sultan + Shepard, this is the perfect way to kick off the new year. Don’t miss out—stream Childish(ish) now on all your favorite platforms and experience the magic for yourself!
Childish(ish) EP
Childish(ish) kicks off with ‘Walk The Plank’. A captivating dark techno track that you might recognize as ID 9 from the latest Winter 2024 Mixtape. Fans first experienced it live at Proper NYE earlier this month. Daniel even teased this track at the conclusion of his nine-day video. Its vibe aligns closely with tracks like ‘The Little Mushroom That Got Away’ or ‘Rave’ making it an exciting addition to Lane 8’s evolving sound. What is Lane 8’s new direction? This EP represents a meaningful shift for Lane 8 Childish(ish) evokes themes of innocence and freedom, reflected in its bright melodic structures and upbeat tones. The tracks take on a lighter, more carefree essence, embracing experimental sounds that invite listeners to lose themselves in the music. ‘Left Hand’ also known as ID 5 from the Winter 2024 Mixtape, is another remarkable standout that underscores this new direction.
The production on these tracks is brilliantly minimalist, honing in on catchy rhythms and playful synths that make the melodies truly stand out. This approach eliminates unnecessary heaviness, perfectly embodying the Childish and Childish(ish) concept. Notably ‘First Light,’ the hidden gem from the Childish vinyl, has been officially released by Daniel for everyone to enjoy. It’s a gift for those who missed the vinyl edition. This track showcases innovative sound design, skillfully blending electronic textures with organic elements to create a captivating auditory experience. ‘First Light’ powerfully evokes emotions, capturing the essence of new beginnings and the promise of a fresh start, making it an exceptional highlight of the EP. I’ve completely worn out my repeat button listening to these tracks all morning—they are simply irresistible!
Childish Tour
The anticipation surrounding a new album often leads to an exciting tour announcement. Daniel revealed his Childish tour late last year. It’s kicking off at the end of February and stopping at 16 vibrant cities across North America. Don’t miss out—the March 1 show at Roseland Theater in Portland is already sold out! It’s officially 2025, which means it’s just weeks away from Groove Cruise 2025. Not only is it one of the first music festivals of the new year each year, but it has become an annual retreat for thousands that flock to Florida to escape to a magical fantasyland called Groove Cruise. Whether you’re a first-timer virgin or you’ve been on Groove Cruise before, we compiled a list of things to know before you go, so you can be ready on January 23, 2025.
People don’t f*** around with the themes
You may be one of those people who doesn’t really enjoy costumes and doesn’t really get into themed parties. I get it and I’m one of those people too. Just know that on Groove Cruise people take the daily themes VERY seriously, and this can be the one place where you let go and join in on the fun. Think about it, Groove Cruise is a fictional place that only exists for a few days a year. This is a place where you can completely let go of any inhibitions and live your best life. The only time your fellow cruisers will look like normal people is on the final day when you’re getting off disembarking the ship. You don’t have to do them all, but go on Amazon and buy a few $20-$35 costumes. You’ll be shocked at how far people go with it. In 2024 there was a decades theme, and one group of people all went as some decade from the 1800s and it was hysterical. Start planning it out now, and don’t worry about space in your luggage because you aren’t paying by the bag anyway. If you’re unsure about the represent theme….
First-Timer = Virgin
So Groove Cruise is full of lingo and inside jokes. At first, it all seems cheesy af, but by the end, you’ll be in on the joke and won’t care. If this is your first Groove Cruise, you’re a VIRGIN! On Day 1, you’re expected to board the ship wearing a color based on the number of Groove Cruises you’ve been on, your hometown, your home country, or whatever you want. Virgins wear white, but you don’t have to feel embarrassed. On the contrary, when people see virgins on Groove Cruise they go out of their way to chat you up, fist bump, high five, offer you a shot, and they will 100% tell you how many Groove Cruises they’ve been on and how much they love it. Wear your white proudly and make a dozen or two new friends throughout the first afternoon! Even after the first day, anybody you meet will ask you how many groove cruises you’ve been on – so the good vibes continue for the whole trip. Also, you’re officially now part of the GCFAM.
Artist Experiences
Besides all the DJ sets there are all these cool artist activations that make Groove Cruise unique. Whether it’s a dinner, Mario Kart, or a zipline, doing these activities with a DJ you admire is pretty cool. Even if you don’t want to spend the money on a specialized artist experience, the best thing about Groove Cruise is that the DJs are on the cruise with you. It’s their vacation too! You can have a real conversation and hang out with some of them, see them in the gym. You’ll run into them multiple times at various places. They’re regular people too, you know.
GOOOOOOD Morning Groove Cruisers!!
Groove Cruise is full of ravers representing the full spectrum of activity levels and ages, but it skews towards more experienced ravers. That being said, the party is going on 24/7 if you want it to be. Some people may stay up till sunrise each day and others might hit the hay early. Groove Cruise doesn’t want you to sleep through all of the fun or be unaware of the activities for the day, so each morning you are greeted with a “GOOOOOD MORNING GROOVE CRUISERS” over the ship’s PA system (which pipes into your cabins btw).
Groove Cruise’s fearless leader, Jason, will make sure you’re awake and then give you a walkthrough of the day’s activities. Sometimes they’ll play music, even a track specifically produced to be annoying that tells you to “wake the f*** up” for a solid 5 minutes before the announcements begin. It is quite literally the clarion call of GC, and it will annoy you and amuse you in equal parts.
It’s a Marathon, Not a Sprint
As mentioned above, Groove Cruise is a 24/5 party, so you could party all the way through and make it a 4.5-day bender. Don’t do this. Luckily, most Groove Cruises are experienced partiers who know their limits, so you won’t see hooliganism or bad vibes. The parties are omnipresent, much like the food, drinks, and bathrooms. You can dip in and out at your leisure, and GC is designed for people to bop around to all the stages pretty frequently. It’s not your standard festival where everybody is crowding the main stage, although there will be a few sets like that for sure.
The set times will be dropping any day now, but don’t stress and plan as obsessively as you would at a normal festival. You’ll be able to check out every single set for a moment if you want to because you’re fully available and they’re all just a few minutes away from eachother. This year there will be twice as many stages as last year (!!) and there will be four main stages (aqua theater, solarium, theater, pool) instead of two (pool and theater in 2024).
Don’t be shy, go grab a plate of pizza and bring it to the party with you. Plan for breaks, chill time, and sleep in your schedule. Wake up and hit that breakfast buffet, get into your day theme and a swimsuit, and hit the upper decks. For 2025, the typical pool deck stage will be moved to the very back of the ship at the amphitheater. After the day rager, I always planned a nice 1-2 hour nap around sundown before dinner. Then after dinner go stage hop for a while. If you’re gonna make it a late night or all night then take a breather somewhere in there.
Check Out Whet Oasis
One of the underrated aspects of Groove Cruise that is returning to form in 2025 is the Whet Oasis. This is the chill-down zone complete with comfy pillows, massage guns, and more. When GC took place on Celebrity ships, the Whet Oasis was placed in the Solarium pool area. This was a 24/7 pool area covered with a skylight so you could see the sky without feeling the elements. Better yet, the area had a heated freshwater hydrotherapy pool and hot tubs. To make some magic here, Groove Cruise set up a DJ table at the pool where a DJ would play chill and spiritual house. The DJ table was also filled with candles to create a super relaxed vibe.
In 2024, the Norwegian Encore did not have a solarium, and Whet Oasis was moved to an observation lounge with no pool. For 2025, Whet Oasis returns to the solarium on Allure of the Seas, hosted by Drishti Beats. There will be sound healing, meditation, yoga, live music vinyasa, a transformational dance party experience, a world house DJ dance party, glow in the dark spiritual house party, and more. Do yourself a favor and plan an hour or two of chill time at Whet Oasis in between sets each day and you will thank yourself. Once you’ve festivaled with this creature comfort, you’ll struggle to ever go without it.
Elevators are more fun than useful, take the stairs in a hurry
Allure of the Seas is a BIG ship, the 2nd largest ship class in the world. However, the GCFAM will now be bigger than ever in 2025. Do yourself a favor and explore the ship early on before the party takes hold so that you have a general understanding of how to navigate. With so much going on at all areas of the ship at all times, you should expect the elevators to be a madhouse most of the time. On most cruise ships you a few decks in the lower part of the ship with entertainment and food options, and then you have a few top decks with more venues. All the decks in between are cabins. This is a roundabout way of telling you that you will wait for elevators, they will be full, and they will stop at almost every deck on the way up (or down). Unless you’re traveling more than 5 decks, you’re probably better off taking the stairs.
However, you’ll undoubtedly make a few friends in the elevators as everybody will chat you up, ask about your experience, ask you what set you’re headed to and hand out PLUR goodies. You will probably also take an elevator at least once where somebody is wearing a DJ controller and a speaker while mixing live as they walk from place to place on the ship. Yeah, it’s that kind of place.
PLUR Still Exists Here
Remember PLUR? Peace, love, unity, and respect was the EDM mantra when the golden era of EDM began in 2010. For a variety of reasons not worth getting into here, that pretty much went away. On Groove Cruise, PLUR is alive and well, and not just because many of the GCFAM were raving in (or before) the golden era of EDM. People will come onboard with special stickers or glowsticks or friendship bracelets or whatever and hand them out to people. People will chat you up and befriend you wherever you are. On three Groove Cruises so far, I’ve yet to have a negative interaction with anybody. Everybody is in the best mood they’ll be in all year and you’ll feel it.
See a Sunrise
On the Allure of the Seas, it’s sometimes easy to forget that you’re at sea. It’s a massive ship with some interior spaces that look like you’re on land. That being said, don’t pass up the opportunity to catch those gorgeous sea views. Make sure you’re out on deck during golden hour for some breathtaking views. Better yet, you’re on a cruise with DJ shows going all night, so stay up and catch a sunrise that is equally as gorgeous as the golden hour. You can be sure no other cruise will give you that opportunity unless you’re waking up early for a morning jog. Catch a sunrise set, go grab a plate of breakfast buffet, and come back to finish the set or get some sleep before the afternoon sessions begin.
Get Prepared
If you plan on drinking, get the drink package and get it now. It’s much nicer to grab a drink every single time you pass by a bar than worrying about how much you’re spending per drink. You’ll get your money’s worth, trust me. You can repurchase these through Whet Travel until tomorrow, then you have to purchase them on day 1 of the cruise. If one person in the cabin wants, everybody must purchase (annoying we know).
If you want internet at all you need to purchase the relatively pricey package from the ship. The ship does have an app with some level of free messaging, but it is only through the RCCL app and it’s pretty wonky (not the best). Turn off roaming on your cell phone and maybe even disconnect your regular cell service unless it’s an emergency. Cell phone calls and texts will cost a fortune so just let it go for a few days. If you need to keep in touch with your people onboard try walkie-talkies if you don’t want to shell out for the internet packages. Lastly, Groove Cruise now has an app you can download for iPhone and Android so you can get the ship layout, schedule, and more all in the app. Pack your theme costumes, your sunscreen, your swimsuits, and your most positive vibes. Get ready for a life-changing experience!

John Summit's annual takeover of The Caverns, the beloved subterranean concert venue in Tennessee, will not take place in 2025, he announced Wednesday.
The event debuted in 2023 by virtue of a remarkable sold-out "cave rave" before expanding to a two-day affair in April of the following year. It's organized by the production team behind Summit's Experts Only imprint, which was recently named 2024's best record label in EDM.com's list of the year's top industry leaders.
Summit's decision to postpone the "Caverns Weekender" aligns with his reveal as a headliner of the 2025 Bonnaroo festival, which is scheduled for June 12-15 in Manchester, roughly 80 miles north of the venue in Grundy County.
"no caverns this year, was a tough decision but being a bonnaroo headliner is an amazing opportunity i can’t pass up and i need to give my full attention to delivering the best show possible there," Summit said in a post on X.
The house music superstar did, however, add that that his Experts Only team is working on "finding a new location for EO destination this year."
Summit's Everything Always bandmate, Dom Dolla, was also revealed as a Bonnaroo headliner this week. Other headliners include Justice, Glass Animals, Olivia Rodrigo, Hozier, Avril Lavigne and Tyler, The Creator. You can view the full lineup here.

Have you ever seen a photograph so striking, you could almost hear the world within it? What would it sound like? Krotos has now launched AI that generates custom audio based on an uploaded image, claiming it's the "world's first" tech of its kind.
The company's Ambience Generator v2 allows users to upload a photo, including images like film stills, video screenshots or concept art. Then it uses AI to formulate a text prompt based on the image before generating custom audio to accompany it.
Krotos claims its artificial intelligence is "non-generative" and does not train itself on user-uploaded files.
"Our approach to AI is grounded in both innovation and ethical responsibility," a Krotos spokesperson told MusicTech. “When we say our AI engines are 'non-generative,' we mean they are not creating entirely new sounds from scratch. Instead, they are designed to assist sound designers by processing and enhancing existing high quality audio assets that have been recorded by professionals."
"Our commitment to ethics is reflected in how we train our AI," the statement continues. "We exclusively use professionally recorded assets that we own or have full rights to… The goal is to empower users, not replace them."

Ibiza tourists could face very huge fines if local authorities spot them consuming alcoholic drinks while on the street past certain hours. According to an article from DJ Mag, the fines that the Ibiza tourists may face fines that can go up to £2,580 (€3,081/$3,173) if they consume alcohol on the streets of the popular San Antonio tourist area (one of the most-innovative nightclubs there to check out is ‘NOSPACE’, the hotspot that the music venue label Eden Ibiza recently opened last summer).
These fines that the partygoers, clubbers, and ravers may face are a result of the recent laws that the Balearic Islands provincial government introduced back in May 2024. The laws state that there is a ban on on-street alcoholic drinking and selling of alcohol between 9:30 p.m. and 8 a.m. in top destinations such as the aforementioned San Antonio area and the Majorca hotspots of Playa de Palma and Magaluf.
Ibiza tourists, as well as those visiting other Balearic Island hotspots, may face fines that can hit their wallets hard
The Birmingham Mail reported that minor offenses to these regulations will provide the fines of €750–1,500 (£645–1,290/$772-1,544). Meanwhile, the more serious offenses of “anti-social behavior” (which can include such actions like fighting, vandalism, property destruction, etc.), the fines will be around €1,500–3,000 (£1,290–£2,580/$1,544-3,088). Getting back to the San Antonio area of Ibiza, these regulations do affect the party boats and yachts within one nautical mile of that area. However, the regulations do not affect bars, restaurants, or clubs.
As of May 2024, the Balearic Islands provincial government will enforce these regulations until 2027. The provincial government’s main goal of these regulations is to not only curb down the “anti-social behavior” but also ease down on the “excessive tourism” that have affected these islands for the past decade. For any Ibiza tourists who want to look for more calm hotspots can check out Es Cana and Santa Eulària. If they want to go Majorca, the scenic environments of Pollensa, Sóller and Alcúdia are also beautiful locations to take in the views, sunshine, and blissful harmony in as well. But of course, anyone visiting these locations should still be mindful of not just the regulations, but also the local people and the businesses there too, just like if they were to visit any hotspots around the world.

The subject line of Barclay Crenshaw's latest newsletter featured just two words, short yet electrifying: "VonStroke returns."
This bold declaration sent ripples of excitement through fans of the beloved house music producer, who spent the past year exploring his bass music alias. The official announcement that Claude VonStroke will tour in 2025 arrived last month, but the Dirtybird label boss has now dusted off a special treat from his archives to tide over his eager fanbase as they await his return.
The surprise? VonStroke's "first ever DJ mix," which aired back in 2007 via BBC Radio 1 and is now available to download for the first time. The mix arrived just two years after his groundbreaking debut record, "Deep Throat."

The first is an 18-min 2024 recap film entitled ‘2024.’ Playing almost like a mini documentary, ‘2024’ features a raft of highlights and behind-the-scenes footage, including a special cover of Billie Eilish’s ‘What Was I Made For?’ (8:49) — played on the harp by Fred and featuring vocals from Romy, as well as never before seen footage of Skrillex, Four Tet, and Fred.
Cover of Billie Eilish’s ‘What Was I Made For?’ You can watch the full 2024 recap video on YouTube here.
Fred again.. also shared the full live performance of secret life (the ambient LP he recorded in collaboration with Brian Eno) at the LA Memorial Coliseum, which he performed to an audience of just 100 people three days before his landmark, sold-out show in June. Bass Heads! Holidays maybe be over, but this year will bring out the “Bass Gremlin” within us. At the hands of Excision, we will head towards the fifth edition of Excision presents: The Thunderdome. The three day all-Bass event will take place in the Tacoma Dome in Washington State February 7-9. Every other year, the festival adds an extra day for more intensity and fun sets, including huge surprise b2bs. Naturally, the festival includes three different sets by the ringleader Excision.
The Lineup
This year’s lineup is nothing short of amazing, compared to other years, the lineup focuses more on up and coming artists that deserve a spotlight. Nevertheless, we still get some major names that have established their brand as long as Bass music has been a cultural phenomenon. On Friday, Space Laces will join Excision, alongside Alleycvt, SoDown, Space Wizard, Kliptic, and a surprise guest. Not bad for a first day, huh?
Then, we getting down and dirty with Peekaboo as the headliner, joining up and coming trio Levity. Moreover, we will get to enjoy a special b2b with Drinkurwater and Bendr. Heavyweights Riot and Perry Wayne complete Saturday’s lineup. Excision definitely saved the best for last, as Legendary Bass producer Flux Pavillion joins the lineup. Furthermore, Sunday gets spicier with Drum and Bass master Hedex, GorillaT, Australian chaotic good Sippy, Effin, and Prosecute. Sunday will host the special guest b2b with Excision, who do you think it’ll be? Last year we got a B3B with Sudden Death and Marshmello.
The Thunderdome
The Tacoma Dome is home to multiple concerts and events, including Monster Truck shows. Only 30 minutes away from Seattle, the structure is one of the biggest wooden structures in the world with a capacity of over 20,000 guests. Of course this makes it the perfect place to host the Thunderdome. However, the Dome is a safe haven for Bass fans. This year alone, Tacoma will also host Sudden Death and Black Tiger Sex Machine.
There are still tickets available! With just one more month before the big weekend, are you ready to headbang into oblivion?

In recent years David Guetta has been finding a lot of chart success in an era where most electronic music artists have faded away from the mainstream. Guetta has always been incredibly good at adapting to the times to make music that finds its way to the top and draws in more new fans. Despite this success, in a recent interview with Fun Radio he expressed that he wants to take his style in a different direction to make “great music” again.
The Frenchman has traversed multiple genres over the years, but now he’s looking to make the music that he wants to make as opposed to trying to follow any trends. He was fairly vague about the type of music he’s going to be making though he did mention ‘Titanium’ and ‘She Wolf’ as examples of tracks he’s made that he considers great so that could be a hint as to the direction he’s going. He also talked about working “with violin sections like I [Guetta] did at one time, recording orchestras” which would be an awesome element to see back in his productions.
Ultimately, it’s looking like a very promising year for music from him with the possibility of hearing the classic Guetta returning along with hearing some new sounds from him. Whether it be a return to future rave, going back to early 2010s Guetta, or something entirely new it’s an incredibly exciting prospect to have him firing on all cylinders and feeling inspired going into this year.

This Spring, as the first rays of sunshine stretch their way across the Amsterdam NDSM shipyard, DGTL Festival rises. On April 18, 19 and 20, 2025, DGTL once again marks the start of a new festival season—a collective awakening from hibernation. Under the theme ‘New Horizons’, DGTL invites innovation, discovery and connection.
Reflecting this message is the line-up of DGTL’s thirteenth edition. Spread over multiple stages, DGTL brings a mix of groundbreaking pioneers and established headliners who are redefining electronic music. Brutalismus 3000, with their raw energy, and Anetha, a driving force in modern techno, represent the cutting edge of the genre. On the brand new Current Stage, artists such as DJ Heartstring and Malugi take you on a journey through innovative sounds, from trance to eurodance.

Making his DGTL Festival debut with a set not to be missed is icon and techno legend Joris Voorn, entering the DGTL stage for the very first time with his signature melodic house. Together with The Blaze, a critically acclaimed French act, and Carlita, known for her unique genre crossover, the 2025 line-up promises an unparalleled mix of energy and experience.
Early Bird and Regular tickets for Saturday and Sunday are now sold out. With the full announcement of the line-up, DGTL expects that the last weekend tickets and day tickets will also go quickly, giving a clear starting signal for both domestic and foreign fans to get a ticket on time.
New Current stage
This year, DGTL Festival welcomes the brand new Current Stage, which will make its 2025 debut on the iconic NDSM slope. This stage focuses on eurodance and trance, and offers a dynamic program with progressive artists who explore – and push – the boundaries of electronic music. Expect an energetic mix of stirring sets and an undeniable euphoria throughout both days, as visitors enjoy panoramic views over the water and the enchanting sunset that puts the festival in a truly magical light. The Current Stage promises to be a striking and innovative addition to the festival.
Dynamic sets by Malugi, who combines ’90s influences with an uptempo vibe, and Pegassi, who interweaves techno, trance, house and hip-hop, will provide an unforgettable experience. On Sunday, DJ Heartstring will close with a finale that will bring the audience into ecstasy with their unique mix of trance, electro and techno. The performances on this stage are powerful, the energy is unmistakable, and the discoveries are surprising.
Impressive Sunday program
DGTL Festival closes on Sunday in line with the New Horizons theme: a celebration of connection, innovation and energy. As the last sounds of the various stages slowly fade away and the spring sun sets again, we look forward together to a new festival season filled with encounters, fresh perspectives and sincere commitment to each other.
Monolink closes the Modular stage with an impressive live performance. With its unique sound and emotional depth, Monolink will provide the perfect ending to three days full of music and experience. Sunday also features a series of impressive acts, including Honey Dijon, who will conquer the dance floor with her iconic house sound. Franky Rizardo joins the line-up and takes Sunday to new heights with his energetic set. The Italian techno duo 999999999 provides a raw, energetic experience that promises to make the NDSM Docklands vibrate.
Fatima Yamaha, the project of visionary producer Bas Bron, presents a live set in which house, techno and synthwave merge seamlessly. The legendary Moodymann, with his soulful blend of house, funk and deep Detroit techno, also joins the Sunday line-up for one of the most memorable sets of the day. In addition, Folamour, known for its unique mix of disco, house, funk and soul, provides wonderful, danceable tracks that make the festival buzz with energy.

Alesso is one of the best DJs and producers in the world and has produced some of the most iconic EDM tracks of all time. Over the years his sound has evolved, his style has changed, and he has masterfully adapted to the times and trends. With how his style has shifted over his career, we thought it was time to have a look back to the beginning to see how he has evolved as an artist and how he’s managed to continuously be successful for so long.
He initially gained some recognition in 2010 with his ‘Alesso EP’ which caught the attention of Sebastian Ingrosso who contacted him about working together. From there on Ingrosso acted as a mentor to him and helped him improve his productions and DJing skills. Alesso found success incredibly fast with his remix of Nadia Ali’s ‘Pressure’ in 2011 that the likes of Armin van Buuren, Tiesto, Calvin Harris and Swedish House Mafia started playing it in their sets. This would kick off several years of unstoppable success for him with the releases of some of his most successful tracks. Only a year on from the release of ‘Pressure’, Alesso would collaborate with the legendary Sebastian Ingrosso to make what has become an absolute classic, ‘Calling (Lose My Mind).’ This track would gain him even more praise along with establishing his style of euphoric progressive house.
However, he had more tricks up his sleeve which he would unveil with heavier tracks such as the addictive ‘Tear The Roof Up’ and ‘Clash’ that showed his insane talent for being able to hop between genres which he continues to do today. His rise to stardom came quickly as in 2012 he would join Madonna at a few of her shows on her ‘MDNA’ tour which really spread his name around the world. After ranking 70th on the DJ Mag Top 100 DJ’s list in 2011, he made a monumental 50 place jump up to 20th the following year. Over the next few years his reputation kept on growing and in 2015 he would bring together several years of work into the masterpiece that was his debut album ‘Forever’ reaching new heights as it would hit number 1 on the US Top Dance/Electronic Albums.
After this success he surprisingly changed his style quite drastically to making a lot of chilled out dance pop, but he did find a great deal of success in this change. Most notably his collaboration with Hailee Steinfeld ‘Let Me Go’ garnered great critical reception reaching number 2 on the Billboard Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart and has since crossed the 1 billion stream mark on Spotify. Also, in 2018 he would realise a lifelong dream as he got the honour of performing the closing set at Tomorrowland ending his set with ‘Calling (Lose My Mind)’ which made for an epic end to the festival. More big pop collabs followed with the likes of Katy Perry, Zara Larsson and Liam Payne though something else was starting to creep back into the picture.
Alesso began to make a massively welcome return to his euphoric progressive house sound with releases such as ‘One Last Time’ alongside DubVision and the club mix of ‘Leave A Little Love’ with Armin Van Buuren. Gradually the epic house bangers started to outnumber the pop songs and the DJ from Stockholm started to grow back into the EDM scene. The last few years have now seen some of Alesso’s finest work with his beautiful progressive house anthem ‘Only You’showing his ability to draw out a whirlwind of emotions with his music and his fantastic ‘Hypnotize EP’being a haven of club bangers. He’s back to being one of the top EDM artists with him now climbing 19 places up the DJ Mag Top 100 DJ’s list in the last 2 years and also performing more huge headline sets at the biggest festivals in the world including closing out Creamfields in 2024. Alesso is undoubtably an icon of electronic music.

We eagerly await together a new festival season full of encounters, fresh ideas, and real devotion to each other as the last sounds of the several stages gradually fade away and the spring sun sets again.
Monolink shuts the Modular stage with a remarkable live performance. Monolink will offer the ideal farewell to three days of music and experience with its distinctive sound and emotional depth. Sunday also boasts a number of amazing performances, including Honey Dijon, whose legendary house sound will sweep over the dance floor. Franky Rizardo joins the line-up and uses his vibrant set to soar Sunday. Raw, vibrant experience offered by the Italian techno pair 999999999 promises to make the NDSM Docklands alive.
The live set presented by visionary producer Bas Bron‘s project, Fatima Yamaha, shows how effortlessly house, techno, and synthwave mix. Along with the Sunday line-up for one of the most unforgettable sets of the day, the great Moodymann adds a soulful mix of house, funk, and deep Detroit techno. Furthermore, Folamour offers amazing, danceable music that energizes the festival with its distinctive combination of disco, house, funk, and soul.

But what’s the DGTL Festival?
DGTL has set itself out as a distinctive festival emphasizing music, art, sustainability, and social safety from the first event in 2013. DGTL has so guaranteed its place in the scene of celebrations all around. The DGTL staff is dedicated to including all sexes, backgrounds, sexual orientations, identities, and ages. With the DGTL Safe(r) Project, DGTL started its path into the ideas of safe environments and festival ethics in 2022. DGTL will keep on that path for the edition this year. DGTL became the first circular dance festival in the world and hit a significant mark in 2022. With events in Santiago, São Paulo, Goa, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Lima, the Amsterdam festival has now transcended national boundaries.

The odyssey through the realm of consciousness might be reaching its end! As Afterlife Tulum kicked off 2025, whispers abound that Afterlife Tulum 2025 might be the last Afterlife event or the last set from Tale of Us. Why is it that these rumors are circulating at a time when Afterlife and the melodic techno sound it pioneered have become a global phenomenon? Let’s examine the signs.
The Calendar

A quick browse of the Afterlife website offers our first red flag. There are no events on the calendar right now, with Afterlife Tulum being the last (although Anyma’s Sphere residency has not concluded). Beyond this, there is not a single Tale of Us booking for a 2025 festival yet. Major festivals which have typically booked Tale of Us are now featuring Anyma, such as Ultra or Kappa Futur Festival. One festival that holds our biggest clue is Tomorrowland. Tale of Us has become a major staple of the festival in recent years, playing every year since 2017. Their Afterlife takeover has grown to occupy the Freedom Stage for both Weekends for two consecutive years. Tomorrowland even entered into a partnership with Afterlife for merchandise and then allowed Anyma to use his own visuals on the mainstage (which almost never happens). If Tomorrowland drops its stage hosts without Afterlife, then the worst has come to pass. We would not be surprised to see Anyma swap in where Afterlife would have been.
The event calendar has been filled with Afterlife shows since 2016, the year Afterlife was founded. The same could be safely assumed for MRAK. Rumors suggest the cracks had started back in May last year when MRAK was accused of sexual abuse in Argentina. An individual by the name of Liliana Nuno took to Instagram to share her experience with Carmine Conte (MRAK). Nothing more ever happened publicly regarding these allegations, but whatever the truth may be could have had an effect on the duo. Many thought it was strange that Afterlife had no event in New York City in 2024, after the Brooklyn Mirage shows sold out three nights in a row in record time.
Chemistry Fading
The videos circulating from Afterlife Tulum do not offer solace either, showing a lack of chemistry between the pair. One could assume that the two are not speaking to each other after watching the videos. The same was observed during Afterlife’s show in Abu Dhabi last month. Social media is abuzz with these rumors as well. Many speculate that the success of the Anyma project is the source of the falling out, and that Carmine has not handled the situation well. The biggest red flag in this department is that Mrak did not perform at all during Anyma’s The End of Genesys residency. It’s unclear whether he was invited to or not, but it does not appear he even attended.
Going Dormant
A fan also pointed out that ‘it’s been 1,279 days since Tale of Us released an original track’. The Tale of Us Instagram page has not posted anything since the Tomorrowland recap post on July 23, 2024. Their last Facebook post is from July 9, 2024 at Kappa Futur Festival. A quick browse of Beatport reveals that the last Afterlife release was the MRAK EP released on October 4, 2024. Anyma’s most recently single ‘Angel In The Dark’ was released on a new Anyma label called The End of Genesys rather than Afterlife. His next single with Ellie Goulding is also set for release on the new label. Another very worrying sign.
The signs seem to point to the journey through consciousness coming to an end, at least in its current form. We suspect there will be a nearly definitive answer to these questions when Tomorrowland releases its lineup over the next month. At that point there will be no more hiding if things are truly done. Some second-hand rumors state that they will stick it out for 2025 or some portion of the year and play out a few more shows, but either way it appears that the days are numbered for this beloved duo.

Drumsheds is one of the biggest and best clubs in the UK having hosted some of the biggest names in electronic music and boasting an incredible 15,000 capacity. However, recently the clubs future has been in jeopardy as their license has been under review by Enfield Council following some serious incidents.
Towards the end of last year there were two cases of people dying due to drug use at the venue as well as someone being stabbed. An investigation into these incidents lead to the conclusion that Drumsheds had some big failings in their security procedures with people not being searched properly on entry along with a lack of care shown by the inhouse medical staff. This led to their license coming under review as the club was deemed unsafe.
Thankfully Drumsheds has been allowed to keep their license as long as they follow certain conditions to ensure the safety of all club goers and staff. Searches upon entry are now much more thorough which has led to some complaints but will undoubtably make it a safer environment. There is also an increased police presence to ensure that any problems can be dealt with and that the response times can be quick which could save lives.
Though some of the changes that have been implemented have made for longer queues into the venue leading to some people going as far as requesting refunds for their tickets, these changes are absolutely necessary to avoid anymore horrific incidents. Drumsheds is a cornerstone of the UK club scene and in an era where there has been such a catastrophic amount of clubs shutting down it would be devastating to add them to that list.
