Few names in entertainment command recognition quite like Tomorrowland, and at the ongoing Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Vegas, the music festival juggernaut is making fresh waves rippling far beyond the DJ booth.
The beloved, Belgium-based festival brand is making a big statement with AREAL, its trailblazing 3D audio technology. Introduced to a global audience at the "Caliverse" booth, AREAL exemplifies a cutting-edge convergence of art, technology and entertainment.
Since its initial testing at Tomorrowland's groundbreaking Atmosphere stage in 2019, AREAL has evolved into a fully patented, standalone innovation of its own. The technology is said to offer a richer sound experience with reduced noise pollution, lower decibel levels and enhanced auditory health. Moreover, its potential applications extend far beyond live music to cinema, gaming, automotive and consumer technology, making it a potential solution for a wide range of immersive audio needs.
At its core is the AREAL Upmix algorithm, a formulaic breakthrough capable of converting stereo sound into immersive, 3D audio in real-time with a latency of less than six milliseconds. Its capacity for near-instantaneous processing ensures unparalleled precision ideal the live performance arena. By enhancing spatial sound without introducing artificial reverb or harmonics, Upmix has already garnered praise for its success in several high-profile event settings such as Hardwell's "Rebels Never Die" world tour, Moncler’s luxury fashion showcases and Tomorrowland’s own Symphony of Unity.
The technology doesn't just cater to large venues. AREAL has additionally introduced headphones designed for individual listeners, combining true multi-driver speaker setups with its proprietary algorithms. The headphones are said to deliver an unparalleled spatial audio experience, offering exceptional detail tailored for music producers, gamers and audiophiles alike.
CES attendees can immerse themselves in AREAL's potential firsthand at the Caliverse booth, where Tomorrowland has also unveiled its Tomorrowland Planet platform, a metaverse where visitors can embark on quests, unlock live DJ sets and more.

The fourth single from ANOTR‘s much-awaited shroom-fueled album On A Trip, “Care For You,” arrives today, January 10th via their label, No Art.
On “Care For You,” the Dutch pair skillfully combines rich electric guitar riffs, their own vocals, free but consistent percussion beats, and sweeping violin strings into wonderfully beautiful alt-soul textures. The single notes their audacious embracing of live instrumentation, vocal experimentation, and genre development.
Written and recorded at trippy creative retreats in Ibiza, Los Angeles, and the Netherlands, ANOTR’s much-awaited On A Trip LP—coming January 31st—captures the artistic development of the pair.
Driven by micro-dosing psilocybin mushrooms, these retreats opened fresh creative paths that resulted in bold new sonic directions reminiscent of the krautrock-style single “SET IT ON FIRE.” By means of On A Trip, ANOTR investigate ideas of self-discovery and connection, therefore extending the experimental sound they started on their 2022 release, The Reset. Though they say it is the craziest thing we have ever done musically, we had a great time doing it. Supported by their No Art label and several sold-out shows globally, this audacious creative leap establishes their position as innovators in electronic music.
On January 10th, “Care For You” drops; On A Trip arrives three weeks later on the 31st. See all dates below. The pair also start a massive world tour in February, including several sold-out events globally and a headline gig at the O2 Academy Brixton on February 8th.

Afro house innovator AMÉMÉ brings his distinctive sound to AZZUR’s standout hit “Me Gusta”, joining Birds of Mind and Nick Morgan in a three-track remix package. The release sees AMÉMÉ transforming the original into a powerful club weapon, infusing his signature blend of African rhythms and contemporary house elements while preserving the track’s captivating vocal hooks, delivering a unique dancefloor interpretation of the original collaboration between label founders Meloko, Baron, Selim Sivade, and Konvex.

AMÉMÉ’s remarkable momentum continues following his recent high-profile collaboration with fellow Benin-born legend Angelique Kidjo. 2024 saw him deliver standout releases on Black Book Records, Realm Records, and Defected Records’ afro-house imprint One People.
AMÉMÉ’s influence extends beyond the studio through his signature One Tribe event series, which has expanded globally last year. After relaunching at London’s Fabric, the series has secured a quarterly residency at Amsterdam’s Shelter, returned home to Brooklyn’s House of Yes, and touched down in Ibiza and Egypt. This momentum has earned him a coveted return booking to Coachella for 2025, further cementing his position as a leading force in electronic music’s new wave.

The “Me Gusta” remix package showcases AZZUR’s commitment to emotional, melodic dancefloor music while highlighting AMÉMÉ’s ability to bridge cultural and generational gaps through electronic music.

Summertime Sadness (Cedric Gervais Remix) – Lana Del Rey
The original track was released in 2012 on Lana Del Rey’s ‘Born To Die’ album and saw very good chart success as it would reach number one in Poland, Ukraine and Armenia. However, it was the following year where the track would take on a whole new life as a massive house hit when Cedric Gervais put his spin on it. The remix was a huge success for both Gervais and Del Rey as it became Lana Del Rey’s highest ever charting track in the US reaching number 6 and earned her much more worldwide recognition. Meanwhile Gervais would earn a Grammy Award for Best Remixed Recording in 2014 for his take on the song.
Sky Full of Stars (Hardwell Remix) – Coldplay
‘Sky Full Of Stars’ already had some EDM genes in it with Avicii producing the track, though it was Hardwell that turned this beautiful ballad into one of the best festival anthems of all time. He effortlessly blended his big room house style with this very heartfelt and emotional piece of music to create an unforgettable masterpiece that can amp up hundreds of thousands of people while hitting them right in the feels.
Pompeii (Audien Remix) – Bastille
Back at the start of 2014 Audien was still relatively unknown, but by the end of the year his name was inescapable. After releasing his remix of ‘Pompeii’ on Soundcloud in January, it absolutely took off and became the most played song at both Electric Daisy Carnival and Coachella that year. The song oozes mainstage festival energy with a wonderfully uplifting feel to it that earned Audien the respect and attention he deserved, and it has now gone on receive over 40 million streams on Spotify.
Can’t Feel My Face (Martin Garrix Remix) – The Weeknd
It’s rare to see Martin Garrix release remixes nowadays but in first half of the 2010s he was pumping them out with the standout being his crowd bouncing remix of The Weeknd’s ‘Can’t Feel My Face.’ This song was always a highlight of his sets that helped to propel Garrix to stardom as the following year he would go to number 1 on the DJ Mag Top 100 DJ’s list. Since its release the track has received over 65 million streams on Spotify.
American Boy (Brooks Remix) – Estelle, Kanye West
Brooks has made a long list of amazing remixes including his take on ‘Scared To Be Lonely’ and recently remixing Martin Garrix’s new song ‘Told You So.’ But, undoubtably one of his best came back in 2019 when he threw his talents at the absolute classic ‘American Boy’ by Estelle and Kanye West. Brooks’ unique future house style took the original track to a whole new level with an energy to get crowds jumping and keep the bass thumping.

Last year Creamfields introduced the astonishing ‘Zenless’ stage which provided some incredible visuals and pyrotechnics while playing host to the likes of Martin Garrix, Tiesto and Armin Van Buuren. Now for 2025 they’re kicking it up another notch with the introduction of the ‘Halo’ stage which looks to be an impressive concept that will continue to bring this legendary festival into the future.
‘Halo’ will be taking the place of the ‘Runway’ stage which while a very cool design, looks like it won’t hold a candle to the new 360° immersive experience of ‘Halo.’ The concept images show that this will be an outdoor stage with a circular structure surrounding the whole thing with state of the art lighting that will be able to create some breathtaking visuals. With the DJ right in the middle with yet more lighting above them it looks to be a stunning experience where once inside the structure there’ll be a light show whichever way you turn.
The announcement of this new stage has come alongside the unveiling of ‘Downtown’ which is another new concept for 2025 and is an area that’s going to have activities such as football and mini golf, entertainment, makeup and styling areas, and even hot tubs. Creamfields is always updating which is why it remains one of the biggest festivals in the world and 2025 is looking like another huge step forward for them.

Electronic music legend Steve Angello has generated fierce conjecture over his future in the business following a mysterious Instagram post revealing his intentions to “embrace more isolation” in 2025. The declaration made by the Swedish House Mafia member and SIZE Records manager comes at a time when the electronic music scene is under more scrutiny for how it handles artist welfare and sustainable traveling policies.
In his meditative speech, Angello considered his 25-year career and characterized it as running “full throttle—never stopping, never resting.” Deeply ingrained in the electronic music scene, many fans and fellow musicians have supported his choice to give mental health and creative rebirth top priority.
The announcement seems to indicate strategic repositioning rather than retirement. Angello’s concentration on using solitude as a tool for artistic expression points to a change in emphasis rather than a leaving from the business. Indicating possible future releases, he said, “more silence, more stillness, and in turn, more creative expression.”
Industry watchers have pointed out similarities with other well-known artists who have lately followed the same actions. “They deserve the break, just like GRiZ is doing and Maiden kinda did this last year,” one Reddit member observed. Often, these pauses have produced creative regeneration rather than career termination.
Given the industry’s continuous discussion on artist well-being, Angello’s announcement timing is especially moving. Modern touring‘s rigorous nature has come under further criticism as performers like Steve Aoki allegedly use to “power naps” to keep their exhausting schedules. One fan’s comment, “Touring all year long is never sustainable,” captures a rising awareness of the psychological and physical toll of continual performance.
Angello‘s choice also raises matters regarding the direction in which the Swedish House Mafia is headed.
Although some may be worried about this statement, it’s interesting to note how carefully and strategically Angello’s approach to retreating seems. He is looking for what he describes as “clarity” alone, not a total detachment.

In a world where AI and humans are increasingly entangled, it's fitting that Anyma and Ellie Goulding have dropped a song about losing control.
Out now via Afterlife/Interscope, "Hypnotized" arrives after its stratospheric premiere during Anyma's historic Vegas Sphere residency. If you've ever wondered what it feels like to lose yourself in electronic music, look no further than this dream collaboration, which will leave you questioning whether you were ever in control at all.
Anyma's production in "Hypnotized" is tighter than a submarine door, with a throbbing bassline that doesn't so much invite you to dance as it does possess your body like a friendly demon. Meanwhile, Goulding's lyrics about "perfect chemistry" and "spiraling down" feel especially poignant when you consider they were debuted in the stupefying Sphere, where her digitally warped face probably made more than a few ravers question their reality.
Goulding performed the collaboration live as a stunning visual engulfed the crowd, her face contorting while a swarm of ghostly hands clawed and twisted her features.

This is far from your typical "featuring" cash grab where a pop star phones in some vocals over a lazy beat. The marriage of Anyma's brooding techno architecture and Goulding's ethereal delivery creates something properly hypnotic, like being slowly pulled into a dancefloor of quicksand.
To that end, you should listen at your own risk. That "circles in my eyes" lyric is as much clever wordplay as it is a warning. The track doesn't just describe hypnosis, but administers it, leaving listeners happily trapped in its haunting soundscapes.

Insomniac Records closes out 2024 with a compilation that shows exactly why they’ve become such a force in electronic music. Their 25-track ‘Best of’ collection captures what the label does best: releasing music that works both on massive festival stages and in intimate clubs.
BLOND:ISH’s “Never Walk Alone” stands out as a perfect example. The track pairs Steve Appleton’s vocals with a groove that’s helped it rack up 17 million Spotify streams and land coverage from BBC Radio 1 to KISS FM. HUGEL and Diplo’s “Forever” brings similar crossover appeal, topping Beatport’s Afro House chart while finding its way into Billboard and Mixmag.
The label’s grown beyond its original scope too. Their new publishing division and studio complex at Insomniac HQ point to bigger ambitions. Between the main imprint and sub-labels like Factory93 and HARD Records, they’ve put out over 700 tracks this year from artists spanning the electronic spectrum – from Boys Noize’s raw techno to Miss Monique’s progressive house.
Their festival presence has expanded naturally, with label stages at EDC Vegas, Beyond Wonderland, and even their cruise festival EDSea. The Discovery Project keeps feeding new talent into the pipeline, with artists like Illenium and Seven Lions helping judge the next generation.
Insomniac Records has built something solid here – a label that can push both streaming hits and underground heaters without losing its grip on either.
That’s harder than it looks.

Sound Nightclub, a cornerstone of Los Angeles' electronic music scene, has announced a flexible refund policy for all January events in response to the ongoing wildfire crisis affecting the metropolitan area.
There are currently five active wildfires raging in the LA metropolitan area, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, including the catastrophic Palisades Fire. Fueled by high-speed winds, that blaze alone has scorched nearly 20,000 acres and is now "one of the most destructive natural disasters in the history of Los Angeles," according to Los Angeles Fire Chief Kristin Crowley.
Five people have reportedly died as the uncontained blaze continues to spread, but officials say the death toll is likely higher. Evacuation orders are impacting roughly 200,000 residents at the time of this writing.

Sound Nightclub, located in the heart of Hollywood, will remain operational but is offering ticket-holders the option to receive full refunds without requiring justification. The venue's proprietors have implemented a straightforward refund process, requiring only basic ticketing information via email to process returns.
Sound's move represents a significant gesture from one of LA's most prominent nightlife venues, particularly given the typically strict refund policies common in the music industry. It could set a precedent for how clubs respond to environmental crises in increasingly vulnerable urban areas.
"We stand in solidarity with you and remain committed to supporting one another. Please prioritize your safety and well-being," Sound said in a statement. "Sound will remain open as scheduled, however, to support our community, we are offering no-questions-asked refunds for all events scheduled through the rest of January, aiming to ease any additional stress or pressure."
Sound has nearly a dozen shows planned through January. DJs scheduled to perform include Chris Avantgarde, Layla Benitez, DJ Seinfeld, Sosa and EDM.com Class of 2022 artist Qrion, among others. Patrons seeking refunds can contact this email address with their ticket information.
You can stay up-to-date on evacuation zones, shelters and other wildfire-related resources via CAL FIRE.
