Learn how the veteran Dance duo gave the Internet-breaking cat a solid four-on-the-floor rendition.
Dutch DJ duo W&W have been around for decades. They’ve had their fair share of notable releases as NWYR, and also broke the Internet almost eleven years ago with their Big room hit, ‘Bigfoot’. This time, the pair are looking to make headlines again with the release of ‘OIIA OIIA (Spinning Cat)‘, an energetic track with its centre on the renowned meme of the spinning cat, the “OIIA Cat“.
This famous feline, affectionately known as Ethel, has captured hearts worldwide with its quirky green-screen antics. Chances are, if your algorithm has learnt the brainrot ways and applied them to your socials, you’ve encountered memes and flips on the OIIA Cat phenomenon. And therefore, this track may make you laugh — and then make you stay.
During their New Year’s Eve show, W&W debuted a track dedicated to Ethel, with the appropriate spinning cat visuals on giant screens. Long story short — it went viral. The video amassed over 85 million views in just 48 hours, with many praising the fun, lighthearted nature of the piece, and joining the meme train.
But this song is not only fun gags and such, and the boys have managed to enjoy the release of ‘OIIA OIIA (Spinning Cat)’ with a heartfelt cause. Proceeds from the song will benefit Ethel and her care, with a portion also donated to the Cat Welfare Association in Ohio, the shelter that rescued her. If this isn’t a good description of the EDM community, I don’t know what is.

Green Room is thrilled to announce the release of ‘Let It Burn’, a stunning collaboration between Like Mike, Human Rias, and Afnan Prince, coming January 10th to Green Room.
‘Let It Burn’ delivers an intoxicating blend of deep, melodic house music—both hypnotic and meticulously crafted. The track builds gradually, evolving like a slow-burning fire, as layers of warm, pulsating basslines intertwine with shimmering percussive elements. Its immersive rhythm pulls listeners into a trance-like state, while the soaring, emotive vocal from Afnan Prince lifts the energy to euphoric heights.
There’s a subtle minimalism in its approach: every sound, from mesmeric synths to rolling basslines, feels deliberate and refined, creating a delicate balance of movement and restraint. The production is both organic and atmospheric, feeling expansive yet intimate with ebbs and flows, simmering with tension before reaching its emotional peak.
Like Mike, known for pushing boundaries beyond the mainstage, teams up with the rising talent of Human Rias, whose ear for hypnotic grooves and textured sound design shines here. Afnan Prince’s vocal performance adds a timeless quality, elevating ‘Let It Burn’ into something transcendent and deeply resonant.
This is electronic music at its most sophisticated—effortlessly fluid, richly layered, and built for both the dancefloor and introspective moments. Set to release on January 10th via Green Room, ‘Let It Burn’ invites listeners to lose themselves in its all-encompassing sound.

Jaki Nelson has been carving her unique path in the world of Dance music, seamlessly blending emotionally charged melodies with high-energy beats that span across genres. From chart-topping Billboard hits to hundreds of millions of streams on Spotify, the Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter, and producer has consistently pushed creative boundaries. Her tracks have resonated far and wide, earning spots on prestigious playlists and airplay on stations curated by the likes of David Guetta and Tiësto.
With performances on legendary stages like SF Pride and Avalon Hollywood under her belt, and with an ever-growing list of collaborations featuring industry heavyweights, Jaki is stepping into 2025 with a fresh perspective and exciting plans. We sat down with Jaki to explore her journey, her creative process, and what’s next in her musical evolution.
Hi Jaki Nelson, how are you today?
I’m great, just another day in paradise! Currently finishing up a track that I’m really excited about.
Can you tell us about your journey into music? When did you first realize this was your path?
Music is in my blood – my dad was a big rock n’ roller in the 70’s, my sister was in a country band, and my mom opened a music school when I was a pre-teen. Around that same time, I was suddenly drawn completely into the Dance music world – I even convinced my mom to let me go to a festival starring Armin Van Buuren when I was 14! Soon after, I met a boy who opened my eyes to the world of music production. I immediately fell head over heels with producing, songwriting, and recording. After a life-changing trip to Coachella that same year, I knew this was my path.
Who were your early musical influences, and how would you say these have changed as you’ve evolved as an artist?
How early we talking? I’m classically trained on piano so we could go back as far as Debussy, but I also loved studying Andrea Bocelli (the infamous Italian singer) as a kid. The real shift for me though was Kaskade’s “Fire and Ice” album. It wasn’t just an album to me, it was a revelation. The way he blended sound design with simple, compelling lyrics…I had always loved listening to music, but that was the first time I had ever heard music that made me deeply want to make music.
How would you describe your sound to someone who hasn’t heard your music before?
My music spans every corner of the Dance music spectrum – from Hypertechno to Dance Pop to Bass House to Trance. At its core, my sound combines emotionally charged melodies with high-energy beats. Recently, I feel like my mental health has been a large focus of my music making efforts, so a lot of what I’ve been releasing and the songs that are going to be coming out soon talk about personal growth, perseverance, and celebration. One track I’m proud of, Just Be You, details my experience of feeling like an alien in my own life and pays homage to the people that bring me back to earth. I’m in a place now though where I feel like I can do anything, and I want my fans to feel the same.
Can you walk us through your songwriting and production process?
My career has led me towards a LOT of collaborations, so most of the time, I’m not in the producer chair, but when I am, it’s my favorite part. After all, production is my first love. I have to be careful because my ADHD brain will get so hyperfocused on it that if I’m not careful, I won’t get up for 14 hours at a time for days on end. Not a great idea! But either way, I always start with the hook of a track. Once I’ve got that, I move outward, either forward towards the second half, or backwards. It gives me a roadmap of where I’m going. Once the track is reasonably sorted, I’ll start writing – same concept. I like to start with the title, and then work around that. One of my favorite things to do is to find titles that can have a double meaning – it’s a fun game that helps me keep my creative mind sharp. Though sometimes it’s better to just plainly say what you mean. Depends on the vibe.
Growing up in Los Angeles, how would you say the city’s music scene influenced your artistry?
I mentioned a boy earlier – we dated for a few years. Anyway, his best friend’s dad was a producer at Interscope Records and taught him a lot that ended up getting passed down through my ex and on to me. Those are the kinds of people that are hanging around big music cities like LA, and I can’t begin to imagine how different my life would be had I never had that. I’m so grateful.
What’s been one of your most memorable performances so far, and why?
There’s a wonderful lesson I learned a few years ago: The more honest we are about who we are and what we want, the more the world seems to open doors to where we want to go. I had just come out publicly and immediately got invited to play San Francisco Pride. Quite honestly, I couldn’t sleep for weeks, I was so excited. The timing worked out that I got to stay with my gay uncles for that trip – they had a place nearby. We spent the morning all getting to know each other on a much deeper level than ever before. That afternoon, there were over half a million people in the audience! But knowing that my uncles were there just really made me feel at home in a performance setting that I had never previously done anything close to. It was one of the most exhilarating and rewarding moments of my life.
What inspires you to keep evolving as an artist when trends in Electronic Music are constantly shifting?
The trends are exciting! I love new music. I listen to hundreds of songs every month trying to find the absolute best new music, both because I want to spin it in my sets, and also because I want to know exactly why it’s the best. I want to pick it apart and understand every single choice that the producer made.
Your music has been supported by industry giants like R3HAB, Martin Garrix, and Jonas Blue. How does it feel to have such VIP names backing your tracks, and how has this recognition impacted your career trajectory and creative approach?
It’s such an honor! I’ve looked up to those artists for most of my life, and to be included amongst those names and their music choices is beyond wild. Their recognition has driven me to keep pushing my creative boundaries and it’s opened doors to working with a lot of other amazing producers. It’s allowed me to focus on what I love – making music all day every day, and that’s something I’ve wanted since the day I discovered Fruity Loops!
How do you keep your confidence strong while navigating the ups and downs of the music industry?
It helps to be a Certified Platinum artist with hundreds of millions of streams! But honestly for me, it’s less about confidence as much as the ceaseless pursuit of perfection paired with curiosity. And that’s been there since long before any of the accolades started coming in.
Finally, what are you hoping to achieve next in your creative journey?
I mentioned earlier that I’ve been putting some sets together – I’m really excited to be revisiting my roots and getting back to the original version of the dreams I set out to accomplish when I was just starting. Long before any of this success, I was not only singing, songwriting, and producing, but I was DJing live shows – while also singing and playing synth leads all simultaneously. Eventually the demands of the studio became too much to juggle and I had to put something down. Starting in 2025, I’m gonna be DJing a new live show and I’m really looking forward to being able to connect more with my fans by incorporating not just great music, but also live singing some of my songs. I’m stoked to be bringing more of the human touch into the Dance music live performance space.
As our conversation with Jaki Nelson comes to a close, one thing is clear: her passion for music and relentless curiosity drive her to constantly evolve as an artist. From crafting hits with a global reach to standing before massive audiences at important events, Jaki’s journey so far showcases the power of authenticity and perseverance.

With her upcoming live DJ shows that will blend her dynamic performances with live vocals, 2025 looks set to be a year of reinvention and deeper connections with her fans, and as she continues to bridge the gap between human emotion and electronic soundscapes, there’s no doubt that Jaki Nelson is just getting started.

With five headline dates planned at the time of this writing, Subtronics promises to transform the sun-kissed venue into a wub-filled wonderland, showcasing why dubstep can indeed hold its own in the neon glow of Vegas. His first performance is scheduled for May 16th.

Amid growing concerns surrounding smartphone use on dancefloors, TSHA has announced a phone-free tour in an effort to encourage crowds to connect and dance.
Phones have become our digital memory keepers, but the constant urge to document experiences pulls us out of the present moment. The scourge of smartphones is perhaps no more apparent than at concerts, where a sea of screens often overshadows the intimate shared energy of the event itself.
A recent study from Heineken indicated 55% of music fans prioritize capturing footage of a performance over being present in the moment, even though 13% said they rarely watch back the videos they record anyway.
Ganja White Night, Damian Lazarus, James Hype, MEDUZA and many more have hosted phone-free raves. Now, TSHA joins them in her stance against excessive phone usage at shows.
The DJ and producer, who was named one of EDM.com's best music producers of 2021, said she hopes to return the dancefloor to its most authentic state: a place where the world fades away and people are united through rhythm and grooves. It's unclear at this time how she plans on implementing the policy at the shows.
"Phones have taken over the dance floor in recent years. So I’m bring a no phones dance floor with non-stop dancing," TSHA wrote on Instagram. "Dance music and clubs are a place for you to escape your phones and the outside world and just focus on connecting with each other through music and movement."
TSHA's announcement of her "Jackfruit" tour arrives four months after the release of her sophomore album, Sad Girl.

Knock2 – nolimit [Album]
One of the year’s most anticipated albums has already arrived. Knock2’s triumphant debut album, nolimit, features a towering 17 songs, including three previously released singles: “come aliv3” with RL Grime and Abi Flynn, “feel U luv me,” and “hold my hand” with Sophia Gripari. The album is a masterclass in the San Diego native’s ability to blend the genres of bass house and trap. It follows his recognition as Dancing Astronaut’s Artist of the Year in 2024, alongside ISOxo.
John Summit featuring Cloves – Focus
Quickly shaping up to be John Summit’s next melodic vocal hit, “Focus” was first premiered during Miami’s Art Basel week at Summit’s intimate Experts Only showcase. Featuring the vocals of Cloves, “Focus” pairs one of dance music’s top producers with an up-and-coming singer who has a promising future ahead.
Massano, TH;EN, Carlo Whale – Touch Me
A rework of Rui Da Silva’s 2002 original, “Touch Me” has been given a modern and energetic twist by the talented trio of Massano, TH;EN, and Carlo Whale. The Tomorrowland Music-backed track has been one of the most requested IDs in melodic techno over the past year.
ARTBAT, Vintage Culture – She The Last One
First tested over a year ago, “She The Last One” is a bold offering from two dance music heavyweights. Released on the Upperground label, the track showcases Vintage Culture’s distinctive basslines paired with ARTBAT’s masterful progressive synths.
anamē, Moyka – Colder
Newly minted Dancing Astronaut Artist to Watch in 2025, anamē continues the charge toward their upcoming hopes & fears album with its third single, “Colder.” The crisp melodic house production is paired with angelic vocals from Moyka on this Anjunabeats-backed release. “Colder” follows “It Can Be Better Now” and “Hero” as singles from the Swedish duo’s upcoming album.

Imagine being behind a DJ booth on a yacht as it cruises Croatia's breathtaking coastline as the sun sets over the Adriatic, your music rippling through a crowd along with the waves. That dream could become a reality, thanks to Yacht Week's new Soundwave Competition.
The global contest, now accepting applicants, is offering a weeklong DJ gig on a yacht in Croatia. Entrants must start by posting a five-minute video of your "Yacht Week Mix" to Instagram or TikTok. Entries should focus on creativity, energy, song selection and stage presence.
"Bring your A-game, get creative with your backdrop (trains, bakeries, coffee shops, you name it) and let your personality shine through," Yacht Week suggests.
The Yacht Week team will then carefully review all DJ entries and contact the selected candidates. These DJs will need to be ready for regional finals in the US, London or Amsterdam. DJ reels will be shared on Yacht Week’s social media, where fans can vote by commenting on their favorites, and the artists with the most comments will advance to the next round.
In the final showdown, three DJs from each region will have 15 minutes to deliver their best performance, and the winner will be decided by the loudest crowd cheer. The champion will earn the coveted opportunity to play a one-hour set before the headliner at Yacht Week.
The deadline for the Soundwave Competition is January 28th. You can find more information here.

Knock2, has been DJing and making music since he was 11 years old. More than a decade later, who could have predicted that the San Diego native would grow to become electronic music's biggest breakout?
Now, the EDM.com Class of 2023 star has revealed his first full-length album, nolimit. With 17 genre-bending tracks, it's unambiguously clear that the prolific producer took the album's name literally and produced without creative limitations.
"nolimit is my debut album. It has so many different meanings to me," Knock2 said in a press release. "It’s a model I've created for myself to be the artist I want to be. An unconditional expression of my production, musical journey and care for dance music. My homage to the artists and music I grew up on, and a bridge to connect electronic music with the scenes I'm inspired by."
Knock2.Evers Pund
The album starts in signature Knock2 fashion, with two roaring, anthemic house tracks, "rookie" and "crank the bass, play the muzik." They are pure dancefloor euphoria, blending infectious vocals, bouncy four-on-the-floor rhythms and polished sound design to deliver an unrelenting surge of adrenaline.
But nolimit is far from one-dimensional. The exhilarating album showcases Knock2’s uncanny ability to blur and bulldoze genre boundaries with artful experimentation. The track “shake!the!city!” takes a playful turn, pairing Naliya’s bold, bratty vocals with a catchy, club-ready beat.
Meanwhile, “my melody” blends hyperpop and 2000s jungle in a dreamlike, atmospheric soundscape. Then there’s “select@,” which flings us headlong into a drum & bass roller, adding yet another layer of versatility to the album.
nolimit is out now via 88rising. Listen to the new album below and find it on streaming platforms here.

The National LGBTQ Task Force’s Winter Party Festival 2025 makes a splashy return to Miami Beach for its 32nd anniversary from February 26 – March 4, 2025. Winter Party is an annual dance and music festival featuring a week-long series of events benefiting local and national LGBTQ+ organizations. This year’s “Dance is Revolution” themed celebration features an eclectic mix of music, community programming, and entertainment that embodies the mantra, “Live free. Play hard. Give back.”
“For those who’ve joined us before, you know this week-long symphony of music and movement is part of what unites us to celebrate, connect, and honor the joy that fuels our strength,” Kierra Johnson, President of the National LGBTQ Task Force, said in a statement. “We would be remiss not to highlight why the Winter Party Festival remains a thriving cornerstone of queer culture as one of the last remaining community owned circuit parties. Part of the answer lies in the very ground we gather upon. Florida — a state where hateful, anti-LGBTQ rhetoric is rampant and harmful policies are piloted — has become a testing ground for authoritarian strategies designed to suppress our existence. Historically, the policies that take root here are then exported to harm other communities.”
The Winter Party Festival attracts over 10,000 attendees from around the globe each year. This year, the festival will feature more than 12 exciting events spread across 10 world-class venues in iconic Miami and Miami Beach — renowned for their vibrant energy and celebration. Guests will be treated to electrifying performances by international DJs including Chus, Karsten Sollors, Tom Stephen and more. Winter Party Festival passes are now available HERE.
“With over 30 years of history raising critical funds for our community, this year’s festival is our most exciting to date,” Jason Hellinger, Winter Party Festival Co-Chair, said in a statement. “We’re bringing a world class DJ roster that includes the international talent you’ve come to expect, as well as fresh faces to shake up our lineup and continue evolving the sound of the festival. We want all of our guests to feel the love our volunteers put into the festival while dancing alongside your chosen family. Prepare for a dance revolution.”
Founded in 1994, Winter Party provides a safe haven for the LGBTQ and allied communities to celebrate queer joy and live freely. The National LGBTQ Task Force donates a significant portion of the proceeds raised at Winter Party and its sister event, the National LGBTQ Task Force Gala, to like-minded community advocacy groups in South Florida through the LGBTQ+ Equity Fund, a philanthropic collaboration between the Task Force, Our Fund Foundation, and The Miami Foundation. Since 2005, the Task Force has given back more than $3.8 million and supported over 100 community organizations in South Florida; the Task Force also directly funds social justice causes locally and nationally.
Guests are encouraged to reserve tickets to this year’s events, all designed to capture the energetic spirit that is Winter Party.
NOTEWORTHY TO THIS YEAR’S WINTER PARTY FESTIVAL:
– Health partners Avita Pharmacy and Prevention 305 present the popular (and free!) community-building and networking event LOCALIZE on Thursday, Feb. 27.
– For Ignite on Thursday, Feb. 27, Winter Party will partner with Midnight Service — event producers whose ethos is rooted in the “religious experience” of dancing to good music. The night will feature DJ Dangerous Rose.
– The National LGBTQ Task Force will honor community treasure Lisa Mercado at the VIP Cocktail Reception on Friday, Feb. 28 at the Standard Miami Beach. Mercado’s contributions have included being the only female co-chair of Winter Party Festival, working tirelessly for over a decade as a Task Force staff member, and serving as a board member and staff member of Pridelines.
– The first of Winter Party’s signature daytime events Under One Sun will be held at the Sagamore pool on Saturday, March 1 with DJs Dawson and Deanne. This will be the first time this beloved event has been held at a pool since 2018.
– Winter Party’s premier celebration on the sun-kissed sands of Miami Beach, Beach Party, returns with DJs Micky Friedmann and Erik Vilar on Sunday, March 2. For the second year, the entrance to this year’s Beach Party will be at 10th Street, two blocks south of its traditional home.
The 32nd annual Winter Party Festival is made possible with support from the Miami Beach Visitor & Convention Authority, Miami-Dade County Tourism Development Council, and many additional sponsors and partners listed here. Media sponsors include Edge Media, equalpride, Hotspots! Magazine, Boi Magazine, Funqtion, Get Out! Magazine and more. Individual event tickets and event passes are available HERE

We're only a few weeks into the new year, but progressive trance producer Andrew Bayer already has a major milestone to look forward to in 2025: becoming a father.
The Anjunabeats mainstay this week announced that after experiencing a turbulent 2024, he and his partner Al are expecting a baby boy. The news arrives, he said, after "one of the darkest years I’ve experienced in my lifetime."
Bayer expressed optimism in a candid Instagram post, writing, "I’m very much looking forward to a fresh start this year, and have never felt more energized about the future. Al and I have something super exciting to share: we are welcoming our baby boy into the family at the end of May!"
The announcement also leans in on the producer's possibility of producing new music in the future, hoping this new era will ignite a creative spark. Bayer's last artistic endeavor, his Be Kind Rewind EP, yielded a spot on EDM.com's list of the best songs of 2024 alongside longtime friend Oliver Smith.
"We have been working hard getting the home and the nursery ready for him, and I have used this period as an incredible beacon of hope to inspire a bunch of music and ideas I have been working on," Bayer continued. "The Way forward has never been more hopeful and clear."
