Few producers can make melancholy feel like an invitation to dance, but Jerro sublimely captures that alchemy in his latest single, "In Your Eyes."
Teaming up with rising singer-songwriter FARLEY, the Belgian beatsmith has delivered a house track that feels both intimate and expansive. Like a warm breath on a frozen windowpane, his production swells with an aching warmth only he's been able to evoke.
The strength of "In Your Eyes" lies in its ability to capture that peculiar mix of vulnerability and determination that comes with finding someone who reignites your sense of purpose. Lines like "Only you ignite these dying embers" cut through Jerro's atmospheric synths with striking clarity, speaking to moments of personal revival through connection.
From a production standpoint, the track builds like a sunrise, starting with subtle, frost-tinged textures that gradually warm and expand into something more luminous. A palpitating bassline then provides a steady heartbeat beneath FARLEY's intoxicating vocals, driving the energy forward.
The track marks Jerro's debut on Insomniac Music Group's Interstellar Recordings imprint.
"I have had the pleasure of playing Insomniac festivals, and I have always been so impressed with the level of creativity. So I'm excited to have the chance to release a track under their umbrella and be a part of this amazing culture they've created in dance music," Jerro said in a press release. "And this track feels like a perfect fit; it is an emotional and nostalgic track that epitomizes dance music culture."

Afrojack is back as NLW, releasing a new project that pulses with the same electrifying intensity that first thrust him into the global spotlight.
This time, however, he's exploring new creative frontiers. The new EP, Unity, features six tracks that range from electro to drum & bass and even melodic techno.
Standouts include the Primate-assisted "Air Max," a frenetic drum & bass banger that rarely lets you come up for air; and "Subway," which channels Afrojack's signature Dirty Dutch sound but reimagined through the lens of dark, propulsive techno. Elsewhere in the EP, NLW goes the bass house route in "Desires," a down-and-dirty track coated with infectious grooves that demand movement.
But perhaps the most captivating moment on Unity comes with "To The Light," a melodic techno stunner where gleaming synths contrast beautifully with driving bass. Meanwhile, haunting vocals float like a distant memory, pleading for release and redemption: "Show me what it's worth / Help me ease my mind / Take me to the light."

Matroda has always been a master of tension and release, but takes that dynamic to new heights in his latest single, "Good Girls."
Out now via his own record label, Terminal Underground, the track samples Slim Thug's verse from Beyoncé's 2005 hit "Check on It." The long-awaited track finds Matroda making music with remarkable finesse, producing filthy bass and percussion so crisp it could snap glass.
Meanwhile, the sampled vocal snippet acts as a provocative anchor, bridging hip-hop's swagger with house music's relentless momentum. The nostalgic vocal grounds the track in playful confidence while allowing Matroda's crisp production to shine, transforming a sultry R&B moment into a thunderous club anthem.

For Iorie, the dancefloor isn't just a place to lose yourself, but a place to find your way back.
With his new song, the Berlin-based producer is out to prove that dancefloors can facilitate emotional release. Singing about the idea of returning—to yourself, to others, to the communal embrace of music—Iorie reimagines them as sanctuaries.
In "Falling Home," his innovative approach to music production strikes a delicate balance between authentic emotion and the undeniable physicality of electronic beats. As he puts it, he's aiming for "true emotion" over booty-shaking clichés, although your body will still be moving.
Out now via Iorie's own Serafin Audio imprint, "Falling Home" is a hypnotic track that feels like the lovechild of a heart-to-heart at 4am and a packed dancefloor's catharsis. It's the soundtrack to losing yourself in the crowd only to rediscover pieces of your soul in the process.
We caught up with Iorie to discuss his creative direction, concept of home and touring plans in 2025. Check out "Falling Home" below and read on to discover more.
EDM.com: "Falling Home" conveys a sense of catharsis and release on dancefloors. In what ways do you see this idea of "coming home" helping people reconnect with themselves after hardship?
Iorie: When choosing the title for this song I felt that "home" captured the feeling of being safe and good with yourself. After hardship usually that is what we seek to create. We want to feel good and safe again. Sometimes you need to build such a home to feel that way or when you feel that way again you realize that somewhere or someone suddenly feels like "home."
EDM.com: The concept of "home" can be multifaceted—sometimes it’s a physical place, a feeling or a community. Take us through your interpretation.
Iorie: Most of the time home is a physical place. This can be the place where your bed is or it can be a place that you frequently go to like your favorite club. But I also know a lot of nomadic people that kind of carry their feeling of "home" with them.
I think the mutuality between both is that you feel safe and content where you are. For me this feeling can be created by other people as well, so home can be wherever these people are.
EDM.com: The depth and tenderness of your vocals in "Falling Home" feel like they're rooted in personal experience. Can you share how your own life experiences, struggles or moments of introspection influence the creation of your music?
Iorie: There is a lot of raw emotion in this track. During the COVID years I struggled a lot with my music. I didn’t really know where I wanted to go and I felt kind of removed from my own music. With this song I feel like I was finally able to properly reconnect with my old musical self while still moving forward.
At the same time a very special relationship to a very wonderful human grew. This person is always able to catch me with ease whenever I seem to struggle. So it is a bit of a love song as well.
EDM.com: In a world where electronic music is all-too-often consumed in a passive, background way, how do you approach creating music that demands active engagement and reflection from your audience? Do you think that dance music can still offer this depth in today's digital age?
Iorie: I totally believe that it is still possible to reach those who want to be reached. Club music can be background music at home or background music for consumption in clubs, but it can also be deeply emotional and enable catharsis.
On the one hand, I try to create these emotions to fill my lyrics and vocals with true emotion as well and not just "groove, move, shake your booty." On the other hand I try to write tracks that create the strong bodily reaction that electronic music can create without using too much of the same sounds that were used over and over again and already became dull and feel not authentic that way.
EDM.com: How do you balance the simplicity of downtempo beats with those complex emotions you want to evoke in your listeners? Is there an element of restraint in your production that you consciously employ?
Iorie: In general the idea is to create space so the emotion can bloom. Downtempo can provide this due to its slower tempo, every element has a lot of space to speak and I believe there is more room for complex emotion to arise than with a lot faster tracks.
In the "Falling Home" track there is even more restrain, all the elements like kick drum, hi hats and melodies are limited to just a few frequencies so they become the mere essence of these sounds and leave a lot of space for the vocal and the very powerful and emotional synth line the second half.
EDM.com: The Berlin scene is known for its forward-thinking approach to techno and minimalism, but it’s also a place with a lot of history and nostalgia. How do you balance honoring the roots of Berlin's electronic music scene while also innovating and pushing boundaries in your own work?
Iorie: I think the most important thing Berlin gave electronic music is the endless parties with no curfew. This way a kind of electronic music was able to arise that was not pushing for the most attention in the least amount of time, but to create an atmosphere that can bloom over a long time to grow to something truly special.
This way is also different and music always has room to live. I try to produce my music in this exact mindset. I try to create music that can carry on a night with rather being exciting than tiring.
EDM.com: How do you approach translating the intimacy of your production into a live setting, where the energy of the crowd plays such a pivotal role?
Iorie: This intimacy easily translates in my live set because I do live vocals. In my voice is a true emotion that is also in my songs and most people feel that because they also see it on stage. Not all of my songs have vocals in them which gives me the freedom to improvise vocals and lyrics on the spot that sometimes fit the situation better than anything prewritten could ever do, creating sometimes truly special moments.
EDM.com: After touring all over the world these last few years, can you point to a favorite performance?
Iorie: Fusion Festival in Germany and Envision Festival in Costa Rica were pretty amazing. Playing in front of thousands of people is a very special feeling. But also more intimate shows like the one at Bosburcht Festival last winter were really amazing. When a special connection between me and an audience forms and everyone is on board, it is just magical.
EDM.com: What's in the Iorie 2025 pipeline for fans to look forward to? Any big releases or shows?

Iorie: There is a lot to come for 2025! I am super motivated to create a lot of original music, but I also have a lot of unreleased tracks that will be released this year. Some collaborations with California producer Sydka as well as with Berlin-based Madmotormiquel and Kotoe and many more.
The booking phase for 2025 only really started, but people will be able to catch me at a few festivals around Germany and Europe and I hope to be able to finally come to the US this year!

Marlon Hoffstadt, has joined the ranks of electronic artists urging fans to limit excessive smartphone usage at shows.
Hoffstadt, fans of whom affectionally call "DJ Daddy Trance," hopped on the mic during a recent performance in Melbourne to request that fans enjoy the last 20 minutes of his set phone-free.
"I'm not forcing anyone, but if you can take your phone away, you're gonna have mad fun," he told the crowd. "Jump around, sing along."
The German producer joins a slew of dance music artists who have encouraged a more present experience by minimizing phone usage at raves, including TSHA, James Hype and MEDUZA, Damian Lazarus and more.
A recent study indicated that 55% of music fans focus more on recording performances than enjoying them in the moment, despite 13% admitting they rarely go back to watch the videos they captured.
It's clear that the compulsion to document everything can disrupt the ability to fully live in the moment—but only time will tell if scaling back phone use at concerts can revive the raw, authentic energy that makes raving so unique.
In other Hoffstadt news, the DJ took to Instagram this week to announce a brief hiatus.
"For everyone asking me for new releases and upcoming shows… all i can say is, that there is loads of music and some really nice shows coming up this year but for now i am taking some time off to rest and recover," he wrote. "Thanks for the incredible journey in the past 12 months."

The bass may still drop, but where it lands is increasingly uncertain as TikTok hangs in the balance, leaving electronic music creators to navigate a social media landscape in flux.
ByteDance's TikTok app became accessible to US users again on Sunday afternoon after a brief outage, which occurred as a federal law came into effect banning the platform unless the Chinese-owned company divests from it.
President Donald Trump then signed an executive order on Monday that precludes his Attorney General from enforcing the law for 75 days, affording his administration "an opportunity to determine the appropriate course forward in an orderly way that protects national security while avoiding an abrupt shutdown" of TikTok.
However, the future of the platform that turned tracks like Kenya Grace's "Strangers" into overnight sensations remains precarious. TikTok's algorithmic boost helped catapult countless electronic artists into the mainstream, but that same dependence on short-form content has left many vulnerable to the app's uncertain future—and adapting to a life without it.
From the grim "dancefloors" of pandemic metaverse raves to the mind-boggling Vegas Sphere, electronic music artists have always adapted to new spaces, but the potential ban has accelerated a diaspora of talent across platforms.
Mike Lisanti, founder of the LA-based artist management agency MLennial, believes Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts are the most effective fallback options if TikTok's ban is enacted—although he believes it's not going anywhere.
"If a permanent ban were to happen, the amount of American jobs it would wipe within the US TikTok offices alone would be staggering to say the least," said Lisanti, who stewards the careers of Crankdat, BARELY ALIVE, Kompany and other influential electronic music producers. "Could its great algorithm go away if it gets bought? Maybe, but I do think focusing on Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts will be the main way to supplement TikTok’s place in the market, as I don’t think any of these random Chinese TikTok replacement apps will be the answer."
"If TikTok actually does get banned, I believe it’s the ultimate lesson for all creators to not put their eggs in one basket," he continues. "I think that people need to prep for the worst—as always—and make sure that anything they are promoting on TikTok is repurposed for Instagram Reels (or as a first slide on a carousel), as well as YouTube Shorts, even if you have to deploy a plan to retroactively roll items out with style."
Crankdat.Rukes
The viral potential of that algorithm offered a tempting shortcut to recognition in an increasingly crowded field. But as TikTok's future hangs in the balance, many are finding that the painstaking path of community-building is more sustainable in the long run.
"The most important thing for an artist to focus on is to do everything in their power to build an organic and authentic connection with their fans," Lisanti adds. "The first second people notice a lack of authenticity, the trust is gone and it’s over. The fans are smart and guess what: they’re always right."
Will Runzel, founder of the electronic music management powerhouse Prodigy Artists, points to SMS marketing as a vital strategy for fostering that genuine communication with fans.
"Artists should focus on building direct-to-consumer platforms that suit their needs. There are plenty of modernized options available for this," says Runzel, who manages NGHTMRE and SLANDER, among other superstars. "In addition, SMS capture and communication remain crucial. It's a reliable way to stay connected with fans, and it's a strategy that’s unlikely to lose relevance anytime soon."
SLANDER and NGHTMRE.DONSLENS
If TikTok does ultimately find solid ground in the US, it may face a reckoning as the music industry's most egregious diffuser of content culture, which often corrodes the creativity and mental health of artists. Considering the prevalent criticism of the platform for promoting a "content factory" mentality, Runzel believes a shift in mindset is crucial to avoiding burnout.
"Don’t approach it as 'constant content creation.' Instead, think about crafting visual art pieces to represent each track," he explains. "Shift the mindset from 'What content am I posting today?' to 'What visuals best express this music?'"
"And most importantly, prioritize your well-being," Runzel adds. "Sleep well, stay hydrated and make time for yourself. Balance is everything."
But if history tells us anything, it's that the electronic dance music community thrives on both resilience and reinvention. Look no further than ¥ØU$UK€ ¥UK1MAT$U, the Japanese DJ whose pulse-pounding Boiler Room set is currently going viral nearly a decade after he abandoned his construction job due to a malignant brain tumor.
As we dive into 2025, Lisanti's message for producers is clear: adaptability is key.
"Unfortunately I mainly see the backlash coming from artists and industry folks that are unwilling to adapt," he says. "The fans dictate who they want to support and see. Whether TikTok goes or not, artists are still on the hook for music-based short-form content on Instagram at the very least—whether it's live or at home."
"We live in a world where it's not about needing to be the strongest or the 'coolest' to survive, but the most adaptable businesses are the ones that tend to last longest."

GRAMMY-winning electronic music group RüfüS Du Sol has announced a one-night-only DJ set at the legendary Hollywood Palladium on March 6th. Produced by Live Nation, this special event will generate essential money for the CCF Wildfire Recovery Fund to help Los Angeles County towns hit by recent disasters. The evening promises to be more than simply a performance; it will be a potent statement of community resilience and hope since 100% of ticket sales go to the cause.
What happened and why this event
Recent memory has seen California experience one of its most horrific wildfire seasons. Wildfires in Los Angeles County as of January 17 had claimed 24 lives, uprooted over 180,000 people, and wrecked thousands of businesses and residences. For Angelenos, the effect has been rather intimate, touching families, communities, and friendships.
The sincere response of RüfüS Du Sol is typical of the will of the larger society. “Our hearts are with all of our fellow Angelenos who have been touched by these catastrophic wildfires,” the band said in a statement. “While directly supporting efforts at rebuilding, we hope this event offers a feeling of connection and hope.”
Renowned for writing expressive, dancefloor-ready songs, the band has enthralled audiences all across with their five studio albums—including their most recent, Inhale / Exhale. Their DJ sets have evolved into a revered extension of their sound, fusing the expressive depth listeners have come to appreciate with flawless mixing.
Tickets for the concert went on sale January 23 at 10 a.m. PT via Ticketmaster and rapidly sold out, a monument to the band’s ongoing appeal and the public’s enthusiasm to help a cause this important. The event is using Ticketmaster’s Face Value Exchange to guarantee fairness by allowing attendees to resell tickets at their original purchase price, therefore maintaining the event accessible and stopping abuse.
CCF Wildfire Recovery Fund
Event earnings will go straight to the California Community Foundation (CCF) Wildfire Recovery Fund. Managing $2.3 billion in assets and supervising almost 2,000 charitable foundations and funds, CCF has been leading the front in systematic transformation in Los Angeles County since 1915.
Based on channeling approximately $30 million since 2003 to areas affected by wildfires, the Wildfire Recovery Fund is a pillar of CCF’s catastrophe response. From quick relief to long-term recovery, the fund supports infrastructure repair, mental health services, and housing, giving underprivileged areas top priority via alliances with nearby businesses and governmental institutions. Following LA’s most recent wildfires, CCF has already given funds totaling $15 million to more than 100 organizations in areas such as Pasadena, and the Palisades.
Together, via music and group action, we can help Los Angeles regain its vigor and energy.

We had the pleasure of speaking with Scottish DJ and rising Techno star Mha Iri. We got to chat about her inspiration, Drumcode, the trajectory of the DJing world through social media, and more. The producer also is celebrating the release of her newest EP Neon Storm on Drumcode, from her series of four EPs that represent the four elements. Without further ado, let’s chat with Mha Iri!
EDMTunes Talks With Mha Iri
EDMTunes: You’ve just released your latest Drumcode EP ‘Neon Storm’. Can you share the inspiration behind the tracks in your new release and how do they fit into the Drumcode style? This marks yet another outstanding release on Drumcode for you, how is your relationship with the label?
Mha Iri: I wanted to create something that was fresh and futuristic but still felt like me, so I experimented with my sound design and focused on melodies that were haunting yet emotive. Drumcode has always been known for cutting edge sounds so this felt like a great fit.
EDMTunes: What’s a typical day in the studio like for you? Any rituals or routines you follow?

Mha Iri: I listen to binaural beats for creativity every morning before I start to work on ideas, and a large cup of coffee is an absolute must!
EDMtunes: Your techno is extremely diverse, from slower tempos to harder beats. What inspiration are you bringing with you to 2025?

Mha Iri: My main goal for 2025 is to continue experimenting and writing what feels right for me rather than putting myself in a box. If I feel like writing a 160 bpm nerve track I’ll go for it, and similarly if I want to write a 140 trance-infused, uplifting track, then I will. I feel like when I don’t limit myself I am the most inspired.
Inspiration
EDMTunes: What was your favorite track of 2024?

Mha Iri: T-78, Roberto Molinaro – Bombacid. What an absolute tune.
EDMTunes: How does your background influence your sound? Any other Scottish artists you’d recommend to our audience?
Mha Iri: I grew up listening to a diverse range of electronic music so that definitely has influenced me in a positive way and is a big part of the reason why I got into DJing and producing. I would recommend Gary Beck and Will Atkinson.
EDMTunes: How do you see the techno scene evolving, and where do you see yourself within it?
Mha Iri: Honestly, I really don’t know. A lot has changed even in the past few years with the rise of social media. When I started DJing having a videographer or creating content was unheard of. So the landscape for me has really evolved in a way I didn’t foresee. I’ll just continue writing music, gigging and be around for the ride to see where it all goes.
EDMTunes: You’ve performed in different cities and countries—what are some of your favorites?

Mha Iri: Italy, Spain and Portugal all have incredible energy every time. I think it’s the Latin passion and I’m all for it. However, every country’s audience is different and interesting in its own way.
EDMTunes: What’s your dream b2b?
Aria and Mha Iri
Mha Iri: I’m a total control freak so it would have to be my best mate in Australia Aria who knows me completely and accepts me for the freak that I am. We’ve went back-to-back a number of times and it’s just a vibe. She’s the yin to my yang.
Up Next
2025 is looking up for the artist. Iri will tour between Europe and North America to showcase her explosive yet captivating beats. She will visit multiple cities including London, Lisbon, San Francisco, Washington DC, Toronto, and Perpignan.

On January 28 at 6:00 pm EST, Bass fans around the world are invited to relive episode 21 of Bassnectar’s DJ sets cycle. This event, titled “Into The Sun Miami,” is a free livestream that aims to thank the Bassnectar community for their support through these past rough times for the artist. The event will be streaming live on various channels including TOS, VEEPS, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitch, and more.
Bassnectar: An Ongoing Case
Bassnectar’s journey in the music industry has been a rollercoaster of highs and lows. Lorin Ashton’s passion for music and dedication to pushing boundaries in the electronic dance music (EDM) genre have earned him a dedicated following. By a mile, his most famous song is a remix he did for Ellie Goulding’s ‘Lights’ back in the day, a song that’s earned a spot in the top must-haves of the “Golden EDM Era”.
However, Bassnectar’s career took a turn when allegations of sexual abuse surfaced. These accusations rocked the music world and led to a reevaluation of his legacy, with many staying away from him and his music. Not long ago, he filed a motion for the charges to be dropped, given that, in his words, “The plaintiffs’ accusations don’t meet the legal requirements so the case should be thrown out on all claims“. Despite the controversy, many fans have continued to support him, and the livestream is, in part, to thank them.

The End of Genesys residence in Las Vegas’ Sphere has stretched the limits of live electronic music. Following a pioneering eight-show run—the first electronic music residency in the history of the venue—the multimedia project headed by Matteo Milleri will return for four climactic events on February 27, 28, and March 1, 2, 2025. Promising a sensory voyage combining modern technologies, philosophical concepts, and charity impact, these last shows commemorate the sunset of a production reviewers laud as “an unforgettable milestone in live music” (Variety). The legacy of the residence is already firmly established as a feat of invention since tickets for sell quickly.
Presented by Live Nation, the last dates not only provide fans a last opportunity to see The End of Genesys but also increase its social impact. The SoCal Fire Fund and California Fire Foundation will profit from $5 from every ticket sold, helping with disaster relief and first responders. Milleri said in a news release, “This residency has always been about pushing limits, both creatively and communally.” The charitable angle emphasizes Anyma’s philosophy of combining art with meaning, which speaks to a state often devastated by climate-driven events.
Pre-sales start January 29; tickets go on sale January 30 at 9 a.m. PT. Leveraging demand for immersive experiences, Vibee’s VIP packages—which include premium seats and nights at The Venetian Resort—go live on January 24 for luxury seekers.
The End of Genesys centers on Sphere’s amazing infrastructure: a 160,000-square-foot LED wraparound screen (the highest resolution in the world) combined with HOLOPLOT’s 3D audio system enveloping viewers in “volumetric sound.” Using ethereal animations by Woodblock studio—known for work with Rammstein and Bon Iver—Anyma’s team—including visual co-director Alessio De Vecchi and stage designer Alexander Wessely—leveraged these capabilities to create a narrative addressing humanity’s dance with artificial intelligence.
Critics point out the connection between vision and venue. “It’s the only place that could fully realize the scale of Genesys,” Milleri said to Variety, “so Sphere was the logical endpoint.”

He will return February 27-28 and March 1-2 for what will be the final run of shows, according to a press release shared with EDM.com.
Organizers will donate $5 per ticket sold to the SoCal Fire Fund and California Fire Foundation to assist with relief efforts amid the catastrophic LA wildfire crisis. For 15 hours during this past weekend, millions of Americans who had an account on TikTok had many moments of anxiety as the app temporarily closed. When the app reopened on January 19th, the day before the inauguration of President Trump, the TikTok account users in this country breathed a collective sigh of relief. As for the future of TikTok in the United States, President Trump just signed an executive order that allows TikTok to stay for 75 more days to address national security concerns.
The 75-day stay that President Trump signed the executive order for gives the popular social media app another breathe of existence in the United States after the initial ban that the President Biden signed off on before he left office. In regard to anyone who want to reinstall TikTok on their phones, Digital Music News reported that Apple and Google are still blocking the app from their respective app stores. The blocking of the app on the Apple and Google app stores prevents TikTok users who initially uninstalled/deleted the app or prospective users who want to download the app for the first, to install the app back on their phones. One related subject to TikTok staying for 75 more days, President Trump also mentioned the idea of a joint venture that may own TikTok.
