Over the past year, Spotify’s stock has almost doubled in value. This shouldn’t be that surprising since people love their music. Stock prices being driven up not only makes the investors happy, but more importantly, the CEO and co-founder, Daniel Ek, has to be very pleased with himself.
Spotify has done a good job at increasing the number of subscribers, which has helped with the high stock price. But the huge move was Ek’s team had cut back on company costs, which drastically improved profitability for the company. SPOT said in 2024 they experienced their first full year of operating income profitability at $1.52 billion.
Spotify’s premium subscribers grew by 11 million at the end of 2024, ending the year with 263 million of them. They announced that they finished their fourth quarter earnings with a record high of $516.2 million
On Wednesday, March 5th, Ek sold another 50,000 company shares for $29.2 million. Bringing his total earnings to $695.3 million. This is his 15th time selling shares since his first sale in July 2023. That was his largest sale by far, 675,000 shares worth $100 million.
Regardless of these large sales, Ek still remains the largest owner with 14.3% ownership. We also see that his business partner and co-founder Martin Lorentzon has also been following suit with selling shares, earning $556.8 million. Lorentzon still possesses 9.8% ownership.
At the beginning of 2024, Spotify was trading at $187.91 per share. Achieving 154.7% growth in 2024 and carrying that momentum into 2025 with another 40.9% growth so far. In mid-February of 2025, Spotify was trading at a record high of $648.32.

Mark Knight and Mark Dedross new Fool’s Paradise song “Fighting Love” is the first important house anthem of 2025. It’s a masterful reimagining of Thelma Jones’ “How Long” that doesn’t just sample the past but gives it fresh new life.
When these two musicians work together, it’s like a perfect storm of musical intuition. Knight, who designed Toolroom Records to be the biggest record label in the world, brings his usual accuracy and club-ready style. Dedross, who used to be half of the band Markosa, adds his skill for writing moving melodic stories that stay with you long after the speakers stop playing.
“Fighting Love” shakes with a rare honesty. The music builds up like a journey, starting with soft, hypnotic percussion that becomes the base for Jones’s famous vocals. These aren’t just samples; they’ve been carefully put back together again, letting the emotional core of the original flow through modern production methods. As a result, the song sounds both familiar and completely present.
The time of this release is what makes it so important. As Miami Music Week 2025 gets closer, Toolroom’s annual mix will be released along with their huge 11-hour pool party on March 30th at The Surfcomber Hotel. “Fighting Love” is the perfect emotional contrast to the upbeat club songs that usually rule the season. In spite of the heavy beats and festival euphoria, this song reminds us that house music’s lasting power comes from its ability to express deep human feelings.
Fool’s Paradise continues to make a name for itself in the crowded world of house music by putting out albums that focus on musical depth and emotional impact. In “Fighting Love,” they’ve made a song that speaks to both the body and the soul and works just as well in a small club as it does in a private listening session.
As we learn more about music in 2025, this partnership between Knight and Dedross makes a strong case for how house music can continue to change while still honoring its deep emotional history. “Fighting Love” isn’t just another release; it’s proof of how dance music can change people when it’s made with real artistic purpose.
