The news we’d been waiting for decades. What a wonderful day it is.
Some things make you beg for them to occur. And such is the case with today’s freshest, hottest Trance news. Oliver Smith is a guy you could say has had an incredibly important role in the Dance scene, having contributed records far and wide for the greater part of the last quarter of a century. And he’s just announced his first-ever long play, Footprints, is coming out soon. Very soon, in fact.
A defining sound for the entirety of Trance in the 21st Century, Olli can be seen in his standalone Oliver Smith records like ‘Pacific‘ from 2009 (one of my favourite songs ever), in the entirety of the Smith & Pledger project alongside Mark Pledger, which would include their ‘Believe (2004 Mix)‘ (also one of my favourite songs ever), and even the first non-A&B signing to Anjunabeats, Aspekt’s ‘Mobetta‘ (would you guess, it’s also one of my favourite tracks in the world).
The first signed to Anjuna other than Above & Beyond, and the only artist to contribute to each and every Anjunabeats Volume compilation, it was only fitting for Smith to release something this close to his heart and this relevant to his career at his London home, of the large-A-logo’d imprint. Olli’s Footprints is coming out on May 2nd, 2025.
The Story Behind Footprints
“I’ve been releasing music for years, but my own album always took a backseat“, Olli mentions. “When I finally started the project I had so many ideas and was unsure where to begin. I decided to embrace the process and let the destination reveal itself“. This, he says, inspired ‘Footprints’, the title for the album, as even the tracks that didn’t make it left an imprint and were a necessary part of the journey.
The first single lifted from the album, ‘Breathe’, alongside Midnite Amity, is out now for you to have a listen. Click the ‘Play’ button on the Spotify player below to stream it. Also, pre-save Footprints by clicking this link right here. And stay tuned for more news.

It’s been over eight years since this trailblazing duo released an album, but today bass heads worldwide felt the Earth tremble when Zeds Dead dropped Return To The Spectrum Of Intergalactic Happiness. This 14-track opus is their gift of self-expression to the world. As you listen, the music takes you to alternate dimensions, jumping across all parallel universes from track to track.
From Toronto, Canada, Zeds Dead (Dylan “DC” Mamid and Zachary “Hooks” Rapp-Rovan) has performed at shows since 2010 with music that many, at the time, did not understand what it was. Although they knew they loved it. Zeds Dead never aimed for attendees to just bob their heads when they performed: they wanted them to be so consumed, that the music shook their bones, they lost control, and the entire crowd danced like no one is watching. And that’s exactly what they have accomplished for 15 years.
Return To The Spectrum Of Intergalactic Happiness
The first three releases, ‘One Of These Mornings,’ ‘Sweet Memories,’ and ‘Heartbeat‘ have already given us a taste of how the sounds are always in a perpetual state of flux, but are seamlessly dynamic and intentional. You may have already noticed that classic, retro televisions with static or flickering screens have been used for the visuals for these songs. This idea comes from the duo’s idea of randomly tuning into different broadcasts from the past century. Incorporating their love of sampling into the album, this odyssey gives you a diverse collection from their hip-hop roots to all the experimental sounds that they are known and loved for.
In 2017, a dream provided the phrase: Return to the Spectrum of Intergalactic Happiness. They were entertained by it so much that they made it a permanent tweet. Six years passed, and the phrase was long forgotten. That was until an unexpected fan resurfaced the phrase. This provoked a moment of realization that it perfectly captures the album’s theme.
Now, it is your time to allow the sounds to materialize, disintegrate, and collide in your life as you embrace the spontaneous creation of pure joy. Listen to Zeds Dead’s Return To The Spectrum Of Intergalactic Happiness below.

Embarking in a sonic journey of a lifetime. Progressive producer trio Meduza recruit Melodic Techno artists Innellea and GENESI for the cosmic track ‘Edge Of The World’ featuring singer and songwriter Nuala’s dance music project: Nu-La. Avaiable on Insomniac Records, the track fuses the styles of this amazing group of producers to provide a one of a kind listening experience.
‘Edge Of The World’
The track is a force to reckon with, with soothing reverbed vocals and haunting echoes that star in the track. The melodic elements are beautiful, as the sound engineering of the track allows multiple instruments to blend together in harmony. The string arrangements are inspiring and catchy, making your body groove to the rhythm. The build-ups are ethereal and the echoes bounce across your hearing channel, uplifting your spirit into a magnificent drop. The track is an astronomical journey, led by Nu-La’s romantic vocals. In effect, this is an amazing song, guaranteed to close out a set or a festival the best way possible.
This follows the recent collaborative Freak EP between Meduza and GENESI on Solomun’s Diynamic Music record label. However, this is just a fragment of their joint work. GENESI has released tracks on Meduza’s Aeterna Records in the last few years. Moreover, they have shared the stage together multiple times, including Our House, Meduza’s and James Hype’s production.
Innellea’s influence in this track is clear, after an incredible year for him on tour, this is the start of an upgraded sound for him. The German artist released his magnun opus The Belonging album, segmenting him as one of the artists to look out for in the Melodic Techno scene. Moreover, the Nu-La project has borne fruits for the vocalist. Not only did she release this wonder of a track, but has already offered her voice to industry giants like Kaskade, Gryffin, and Benny Bennasi.
Meduza
The trio is standing tall at the edge of their own world. Matt, Luca, and Simone announced their new project Meduza^3 last month. A hybrid live concept with a grand piano and live synths added to DJing landing in Ibiza this summer. However, it is expected for them to tour the world. Moreover, the Italian ‘Piece Of Your Heart’ authors are landing in Vegas for a new residency at Zouk Nightclub in Resorts World, starting later this month.

Heldeep label boss Oliver Heldens returns to his tastemaking imprint with his first release of the year, ‘Let You Go‘. A bold evolution of Heldens’ sound, the track blends Eurodance nostalgia with a fierce, high energy old-school trance edge.
While the production of ‘Let You Go’ hits with full force, Heldens wrote and recorded the vocals himself, bringing a deeper layer, carrying the weight of letting go while pushing toward something more significant. A contrast fuels the intensity- a melancholic raw emotion met with an unstoppable drive, ‘Let You Go,’ sees Heldens step into new territory, delivering a potent mix of feeling and fire.
‘Let You Go’ is a song about saying goodbye, letting a loved one go, and moving on. It originated in April last year after Heldens played a show in Tokyo; the love/energy from the Japanese fans was quite overwhelming, in a positive way. Here is what the man himself had to say on the upbringing of this new record:
Catch Oliver Heldens on the road as he traverses the globe with hard-hitting shows at destination events such as Don’t Let Daddy Know (Romania and Chile), Parookaville, îLESONIQ, and more. For now, you can listen to ‘Let You Go’ below and on all available streaming platforms.

The annual pilgrimage of electronic dance music fans to Miami’s Bayfront Park is once again facing scrutiny, as concerned downtown residents voiced their frustrations at a recent town hall meeting. Organized by the Downtown Neighbors Alliance, the gathering brought together Ultra Music Festival organizers, City of Miami Police, and residents, highlighting the ongoing tension between the event’s economic impact and the quality of life for those living in its immediate vicinity.
The core issue? Noise. For many residents, the three-day festival, scheduled for March 28-30, transforms their homes into a sonic battleground. In the town hall, The residents’ concerns paint a picture of a city growing and evolving, with its residents feeling increasingly at odds with the massive event. The shift from a largely commercial district to a thriving residential area has amplified the impact of the festival’s noise levels.
Manuel Perez, a long-time downtown resident, echoed this sentiment, arguing that the evolving landscape of downtown Miami necessitates a change of venue for Ultra. “Downtown Miami has changed. There are a lot of families, there are a lot of people living and enjoying the life of the downtown in Miami,” Perez stated. “The Ultra Music Festival is way too much; it’s too disruptive.”
Raymond Martinez, head of security for Ultra, addressed the residents’ concerns, emphasizing the festival’s commitment to adhering to city guidelines.
“Our agreement with the city and with the Bayfront Park Trust is, in addition to that monitoring, we have sound monitoring at each stage,” Martinez explained. “It’s 16 feet from the stage, whatever the decibel number is according to the park guidelines, we monitor that, as well as the sound that hits the building.”
The history of Ultra in Miami is a long one. Starting in Miami Beach in 1999 and moving to Bayfront Park, the festival has become a staple of the city’s event calendar, barring a single year off during the COVID-19 pandemic. The event’s consistent sell-out status underscores its popularity, but the ongoing discord with residents highlights the delicate balancing act between entertainment and community well-being.

The Brooklyn Mirage is planning for something huge. They dropped a new teaser trailer of their redesign and it looks stunning. From the trailer, it appears an almost 360-degree screen will be built. A new roof with lighting also looks to be in the works. Huge almost Roman-looking columns will support the structure from the sides.
The Mirage has certainly set out to address all the concerns of attendees in years past. An expanded dance floor and table service lining the walls will be special. Just 3 years ago, the New York venue renovated by installing their famous screen seen around the world. If you remember the old mirage, there were pillars scattered around the dance floor, which they also removed.
The Brooklyn Mirage was voted best large club in North America and peaked at #8 overall in the world in 2023. They have already announced some impressive programming for the 2025 season including The Chainsmokers, Alesso, Peggy Gou, The Martinez Brothers, Excision, Rezz, Tape B, and many more. Cityfox Regenerate has been chosen to debut the new and improved Mirage.

We’ve got a very powerful and intriguing release for you today.
Year after year, we’ve seen a steady rise of female producers enter — and crush it in — the Dance music industry, which is lovely to see. We’ve got a case-in-point today regarding that very topic, for two masterful artists, WHIPPED CREAM and Andrea Botez, have joined forces to release ‘Erased‘, their debut collaborative single.
Just ahead of International Women’s Day (the 8th), this track acts both as proof of their incredible talent, and as a tribute to the date itself. And it also comes at a great point for both artists’ careers. On one hand, WHIPPED CREAM recently launched her Careline EP in January, after being listed in 1001 Tracklists’ Top 101 Producers of 2024, and ahead of playing Beyond Wonderland and Tomorrowland Belgium. On the other hand, Andrea Botez has juggled both the music and chess careers of hers in elegant fashion, recently remixing top-tier artists Boris Brejcha and Kaskade.
‘Erased’
@zeustate A collaboration of sorts, this track blends light and dark in such a way that it makes for an absolutely joyful experience. WHIPPED CREAM refers to ‘Erased’ as “Dark Techno collides with Melodic House, blending deep, emotive vocals with an unrelenting groove and unstoppable energy“. She’s also very eager to have this track out now, stating “I cannot wait for the world to experience it, especially in celebration of International Women’s Day“.
Meanwhile, Andrea tells a bit of an insight into the track’s creation: “I fell in love with WHIPPED CREAM’s sound when I first heard her haunting yet beautiful vocals and knew immediately we had to combine our two unique styles. I sent Caroline my first ‘Tech House’ demo, and her writing for ‘Erased’ transformed the track into a Techno anthem. We both pulled from past experiences, and her vocals even inspired me to add some of my own as an Easter egg“.
‘Erased’ kicks off with a haunting atmosphere and WHIPPED CREAM’s vocals. As floaty as everything is, the beat soon picks up the pace and transforms the track into a powerful Techno sampler. The track has intentions to become completely dark, but the contrast with the vocals and melodic elements truly elevates it a step beyond that, to create an unexpected perfect pairing.

Top electronic artists MEDUZA and underground legends INNELLEA & GENESI have put out a new song called “Edge Of The World,” which you can get now from Insomniac Records.
When German techno artist INNELLEA, Italian virtuoso DJ/producer and longtime collaborator GENESI, and one of dance music’s most exciting new voices, Nu-La, work together on “Edge Of The World,” it sounds like a cyclone of happiness with echoes of another world.
You have to push yourself, go into the dark, and chase something bigger than yourself in “Edge of the World.” The track gets the restless feeling of wanting more: more intensity, more connection, more escape. It’s made up of driving electronic energy and a sound that looks to the future. “Take me to the edge of the world with you” is more than just a line of music—it’s a moment of giving up and trusting what will happen next. This album is meant to hit you hard and stay with you because of its lively music and honest feelings.
INNELLEA, a name that stands for musical reinvention, is on the song. You can hear Innellea’s experimental way of producing music all over “Edge Of The World,” which is made up of driving spheres, impulsive energy, and rhythmic depth.
Genezi, who has worked with the band for a long time, is also on the new song. Even though GENESI is new to the music scene, his song “Everything You Have Done” has already gotten a lot of attention. It has over 58 million streams on Spotify, hit #1 on Beatport, and been supported by top DJs all over the world.
The group’s new song comes out right before they play the main stage at EDC Las Vegas later today. It’s the latest big step in an amazing year for Italy’s biggest streaming act. In particular, their idea for the Our House club, which they worked on with James Hype, sold out London’s DRUMSHEDS in 2024. They also put out “Fire,” which is the official song for the UEFA Euro 2024. They played it at the Live Final Pre-Match in front of 75,000 people, as well as millions of people around the world. Recently, they released the big dance record “Another World,” which features HAYLA, who is nominated for a Grammy.
Like their music, MEDUZA is always thinking about the future and creating the future of modern dance. As 2025 goes on, MEDUZA get ready to reach even higher levels with bigger shows and new, exciting music.

David Guetta and Sia
David Guetta and Sia have a new collab ‘Beautiful People’ which has been stirring excitement long before its release thanks to their reputation for making some massive tracks. Their collaborations have garnered billions of streams on Spotify with of course the standout being ‘Titanium’ which by itself has 1.8 billion. Their success didn’t stop there though as they also worked together on the iconic ‘She Wolf’, the titanic ‘Flames’, and the uplifting ‘Bang My Head.’ The anticipation surrounding their collaborations is always palpable as it’s well established that they work perfectly together and will hopefully continue to in the future.
Martin Garrix and Matisse & Sadko
Martin Garrix collaborates with a variety of artists, however it’s when he links up with Matisse & Sadko that fans around the world get most excited as they know there’s going to be a huge hit coming their way. The combination of these artists is progressive house heaven every time as their styles blend beautifully to make iconic songs like ‘Break Through The Silence’, ‘Forever’, and ‘Won’t Let You Go.’ Their collaborations go beyond what is credited as they often assist each other with various productions so sometimes though their name may not be on the release a little bit of their style will be.
Armand Van Helden and A-Trak (Duck Sauce)
Armand Van Helden and A-Trak have each carved their own successful paths in EDM and when they unite to form Duck Sauce it always makes for something special. They made waves with their first and only album ‘Quack’ which was packed from start to finish with their now well established groovy and fun feel. Each song brings a smile to your face and of course this album featured their most iconic song ‘Barbra Streisand’ which is a timeless classic. After ‘Quack’ there was a 6-year hiatus of Duck Sauce releasing music, but thankfully they made a return in 2020 to bring back some fun to the world during the hard times of lockdown.
Tchami and Malaa
There are few artists that collaborate more than the unstoppable pairing of Tchami and Malaa who regularly link up both behind the decks and in the studio. Not only have they collaborated on a series of amazing singles, but they have also produced an entire album together with ‘Veni, Vidi, Vici.’ They’re chemistry is incredibly strong which has made for all of their collaborations to be absolute bangers including songs like ‘N9’, ‘A Prayer’, ‘Discipline’ and countless others. Malaa keeps their identity secret, and many fans still believe that Tchami might actually be Malaa though this is something he regularly denies saying: “We play back-to-back together”, “this is not a hologram playing.” While Malaa’s identity remains a mystery, the power of their collabs with Tchami do not.
HI LO and Reiner Zonneveld
Oliver Heldens’ journey into techno has been a fruitful one where Reiner Zonneveld, who sort of acted as his techno guru, has become a regular collaborator. When these two pair up on a track you know that it’s going to be absolutely killer and their releases so far have earnt them that reputation with barnstormers like ‘Flying Octopus’, ‘Existencia’ and ‘Saw of Olympus.’ Reinier Zonneveld is probably one of the best people out there to help teach you techno and now his work with HI LO is making for some of best techno tracks around. Everything from them has been great so far and you can be sure that there is plenty more still to come from this pairing.

Teru Okada, the acclaimed producer renowned for his innovative fusion of house, techno, and disco-inspired sounds, has released his latest single, Sakura Hallelujah, on January 28, 2024, via his independent label, Transparent Architecture Records.

Get To Know: Teru Okada
Introduce yourself:

I’m an independent artist in the Japanese countryside, juggling multiple musical identities and blending house, disco, hip-hop, and techno—like a one-person festival. With a background in music theory, computer science, and DJing, I craft dance music. When I’m not making beats, I’m immersed in art, literature, or running outside.

Were you connected with music from a young age, or anyone in particular inspired you?

My love for music started in the backseat of my parents’ car, where The Beatles, The Carpenters, and classical music were on constant rotation—whether I liked it or not. Safe to say, resisting a love for music wasn’t really an option.

What first kickstarted your musical career?

My musical journey began with a high school rap show—an ambitious debut fueled by passion and overconfidence. That spark led me to dancing, DJing, and eventually picking up guitar and keys to understand music theory.

Tell us a more about your sound and how it has evolved.

In the early 2000s, I was drawn to reggae and hip-hop, spending hours digging through record shops and rental CDs. Staying in the U.S. and Canada expanded my electronic music palette.

Any words you want to share to encourage other artists and producers?

I’m not one for dispensing sage advice, but I used to major in Law, Computer Science, and English, and working for various organisations. Oddly enough, all those experiences connect to what I do now and keep me humble. I suppose any background can blend into a unique style—kind of like a musical smoothie.

Networking, consistency, character, approach… what and how do you initiate your Industry relationships?

It’s about building relationships through shared passions and collaborations. I reach out to people or organisations whose work resonates with me, and I make it a point to engage in conversations that matter.

Is there anyone specific you’d like to thank that has helped you evolve and why?

There are too many people to thank, including friends, colleagues, collaborators, and community members, but my deepest gratitude goes to my family. Their unwavering support over the years has been invaluable, and I am forever grateful.
Name 3 albums or labels that have inspired you the most.
Defected, Beats in Space, Running Back

What’s your favourite piece of studio equipment or software?

Ableton Live

Name your favourite club or festival in the world, and how does it makes you feel?

We Out Here, Junction 2, and many other festivals and clubs are among my favorites. Music festivals and clubs are an integral part of my life, and makes me create music with the goal of playing it there myself.

Name an outlandish rider request?

Volvic water, coffee, and a sandwich—simple comforts that keep me going. Sake? No thanks. I’d rather drink dish soap.

Favourite clubbing memory, who or what did it involve?
MANUEL GOTTSCHING’s master piece tune “E2-E4” Solo Live Performance
at Metamorphose August 26,2006
I was working at food catering service at that moment so watched it for free.

What quote represents you best?

“Whenever you feel like criticizing anyone, just remember that all the people in this world haven’t had the advantages that you’ve had.” – The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald

If you could play any venue, where would it be and why?

Fabric. It’s one of the most authentic clubs, and I’ve been a huge fan of its mix series, especially Fabric 41 by Luciano.

One song you really couldn’t live without?

Sunshine (Kink Remix) / Unit 2

Name drop your favourite tunes, artists or DJs (past or present)
“Mouth to Mouth” – Audion “The Man with the Red Face” – Laurent Garnier “The Sky Was Pink (Holden Remix)” – Nathan Fake “The Basement Is Burning” – Marquis Hawkes “The Shit Baby” – Omar S “Balagan” – Betoko “New Dawn” – Wata Igarashi “The Tropics” – Quantic
What was your first music opportunity and how did it fuel your fire?

My first regular gig as a DJ was back in 2005 in Tokyo. I played funk and disco, hoping to get the crowd moving—but at first, I was basically just the background music guy. Eventually, though, I started connecting with artists, industry pros, and even legendary guests, and before I knew it, my life had completely changed. That experience sparked my passion for music… At first, it was just a tiny spark, but now it’s a full-on fire.
This keeps the humor subtle while making the story engaging. Let me know if you want a different twist!

Tell us more about your plans for the future.

Through music production, I think and learn about many things. I will continue to reflect and create as I have always done. Additionally, I look forward to performing at clubs and festivals and meeting many people, particularly women.

Any worldly advice you’d like to share?
it’s simple—All you need is love… and a decent Wi-Fi connection.

Indo Warehouse continues to define the sound of South Asian-inspired electronic music with “Dheere,” the hypnotic new single from rising duo Anvaya, out March 7th as the first taste of their highly anticipated debut EP, Sands Between Us.
Marking a major moment in Anvaya’s fast-evolving journey, “Dheere” arrives just ahead of a landmark, sold-out Indo Warehouse showcase at The Roundhouse, London on Friday 7th March, where the duo will perform alongside label founders Kahani and Kunal Merchant. With over 1,700 attendees set to experience Indo Warehouse’s signature blend of deep, culturally-rooted house music, the event doubles as the perfect stage for Anvaya to introduce their latest work in a full-circle celebration of sound, movement, and identity.

A married couple and practicing doctors by day, Kaushal and Sonia’s story is as compelling as their music. Anvaya’s creative process unfolds after hours, with the duo dedicating their nights to producing tracks that weave together their shared heritage and musical upbringing. The result is a sound that feels both deeply personal and universally resonant.
On “Dheere,” Anvaya channels this balance with precision, delivering a slow-burning, percussive groove that draws listeners in with swirling basslines, sultry vocal refrains, and an undeniable sense of mystique. Crafted for late-night dancefloors yet rooted in tradition, the track showcases the duo’s refined ear for fusing organic instrumentation with contemporary electronic production. It’s the kind of record that lingers well beyond the final beat, designed to move both body and spirit.

“Dheere” sets the stage for “Sands Between Us”, landing April 4th as the very first artist-led EP on the Indo Warehouse label. Where Indo Warehouse has established themselves through groundbreaking showcases and carefully curated compilations, Sands Between Us represents a bold new chapter, placing Anvaya at the forefront of the movement and offering a deeper dive into the duo’s evolving, genre-defying sound.
Following standout contributions to Garba SZN II and a string of key performances across the Indo Warehouse calendar, Anvaya continue to solidify their place as one of the most exciting acts to watch within global electronic music. With Sands Between Us, they’re not only amplifying the next wave of South Asian-inspired club music, they’re telling their own story, on their own terms.

A busted mid-century TV set hums alive, its channels bleeding into a universe only Zeds Dead can tune.
Their long-awaited sophomore album, Return to the Spectrum of Intergalactic Happiness, bridges yesterday's voices to tomorrow’s beats. Eight years in the making, it's out now via the influential electronic music duo's own record label, Deadbeats.
The album's conceptual framework—a television flickering through time—perfectly suits Zeds Dead's sampling prowess and lets their obsession with crate-digging evolve into a widescreen narrative. What makes it exceptional isn't merely its technical brilliance, but how it transforms disparate cultural fragments into something of a sonic Tarantino film with dusty samples, sharp cuts and endless style.
Sampling becomes sorcery in the hands of these restless dubstep pioneers. "Bad Guy" stands tall among the tracklist, interpolating Al Pacino's iconic lines from Scarface into a menacing electroclash track with vintage breakbeats. Other highlights include "A Million Dreams," where legendary jazz pianist Duke Ellington's gravelly musings from a 1960s interview float through liquid drum & bass; and "Angel," which channels the raw French electro of Justice.
For the diehards, Zeds Dead revisit their roots in "Hold My Hand," delivering a gut-punch of nostalgia through haunting vocals dripping over bass so thick it could coat lungs. "One of These Mornings" follows suit, threading Patti LaBelle's soul-stirring voice through a stunning dubstep track that thrums with both reverence and grit. These tracks anchor Return to the Spectrum of Intergalactic Happiness, tethering its wilder experiments to the duo’s foundational sound.
The origin of the album's curious title is a cosmic coincidence, a half-remembered dream Zeds Dead tweeted back in 2017 and recently rediscovered by a fan. According to a press release, "Return" signifies the revival of their early sound while the "Spectrum of Intergalactic Happiness" refers to the radio waves and light of the electromagnetic spectrum, a metaphor for the unseen threads binding the duo's influences to their production.
"In making Return to the Spectrum of Intergalactic Happiness, we really connected with the spirit of what Zeds Dead is. Throwing whatever crossed our minds at the wall and seeing what stuck," Zeds Dead said in a statement. "One of our biggest inspirations for this album was the idea of not letting anything matter in our creative process except for our own taste. It is very much art for art’s sake, and the product is something we can both fully stand behind."
The release of Return to the Spectrum of Intergalactic Happiness coincides with the launch of an eponymous North American tour, which will feature "a one-of-a-kind visual component," per the press release.
