2025 has been a tumultuous year so far for Tale Of Us with many rumours swirling around of them breaking up. Despite this it looks like they will be continuing to work together with the announcement of two Afterlife Festivals coming later this year.
Each festival will take place over two days with the first coming May 9th and 10th in Mexico City at the Hipódromo de las Américas followed by one June 13th and 14th in Barcelona at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. Lineups are yet to be unveiled, however it has been stated that for both festivals one days lineup will be curated by Anyma while the other day will be put together by MRAK offering a unique flavour to each day. The festivals promise to deliver a display of Afterlife’s array of great music to treat their community to something special and show the incredible talent of their artists.
The future of Tale Of Us is uncertain as even though both Anyma and MRAK part of this project, it appears they will be working separately and have remained silent on their social medias. In the advertising for the festival it mentions that the events will be “a balance between the past and future of the brand” which could be a hint to Tale Of Us being the past and the artists selected for the lineup being the future of the Afterlife brand. One way or another the announcement of the Afterlife Festivals is an exciting one and should offer an excellent showcase of the talent within Afterlife.
For tickets pre-sale starts February 26th, and general sale begins February 27th.

Becky Hill
There are few voices in EDM that have been heard across as wide of a range of absolute classics as Becky Hill’s. Collaborating with the likes of Oliver Heldens, David Guetta, and Chase & Status, she has lent her voice to some of electronic music’s biggest hits such as the UK Number 1 smash hit ‘Gecko (Overdrive)’ with Oliver Heldens, Wilkinsons’ unforgettable ‘Afterglow’, MEDUZA’s ever amazing ‘Lose Control’, and countless more. Her incredible voice has transcended genres and has helped break EDM into the mainstream across the years.
John Martin
John Martin has been a powerhouse in electronic music with his vocals for over 10 years and is still delivering some of the most impactful lyrics in the greatest tracks to this day. Most notably he provided vocals for Swedish House Mafia’s iconic ‘Don’t You Worry Child’, but he has also put his stamp on many other huge songs including Sebastian Ingrosso’s legendary ‘Reload’ and several collaborations with Martin Garrix. John Martin’s vocals can be found across an array of genres within electronic music from the future rave of MORTEN’s ‘Impossible’, to the epic EDM, rap crossover ‘Children of the Sun’ with Tinie Tempah.
Bebe Rexha
With her vocals being on Martin Garrix’s most streamed song of all time, ‘In the Name of Love’, along with her vocals being on David Guetta’s most streamed song of all time, ‘I’m Good (Blue)’, Bebe Rexha is one of the biggest vocalists in electronic music. Over the years she has been a regular contributor to some of David Guetta’s biggest hits with songs like ‘Say My Name’, ‘One in a Million’, and the 2014 chart dominator ‘Hey Mama.’ She has also worked with other huge names like Alok, Jax Jones and of course gave an incredible performance on Cash Cash’s ‘Take Me Home.’
Sandro Cavazza
Being a regular collaborator with Avicii and Kygo, Sandro Cavazza has provided vocals for many brilliant tracks including ‘Without You’ which is undoubtably one of Avicii’s best songs helped in large part by Cavazza’s astonishing voice. He can be found featured on a number of very emotional electronic songs with his gentle yet powerful voice helping to deliver Avicii’s ‘Forever Yours’, ‘Gonna Love Ya’, Kygo’s ‘Happy Now’, ‘Hold On Me’, and many more. Having worked with names like Don Diablo, Felix Jaehn, Kygo, and Avicii it’s fair to say that Sandro Cavazza has etched his name as a legendary vocalist in electronic music.
Bonn
As a regular collaborator with Martin Garrix, Bonn has built an impressive catalogue of EDM tracks that he has been part of including one of Garrix’s biggest songs ‘High On Life.’ He has helped bring to life some of Garrix’s best tracks with his stunning voice such as ‘No Sleep’, ‘Hurricane’ and ‘Home.’ He can also be found making an appearance in Avicii’s posthumous album ‘Tim’ on the song ‘Freak’ where he delivers an emotional performance that honoured Avicii’s vision for the song immaculately. Most recently he has added his flare to MORTEN and ARTBAT’s ‘Hollow.’

Tale Of Us’s visionary label, Afterlife, is expanding beyond its famous party series to launch two groundbreaking festival experiences. The Hipódromo de las Américas in Mexico City and the famous Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Barcelona will be the settings for these events, which promise to start a new era in electronic music culture.
The event, which will take place in two cities, Mexico City and Barcelona, from May 9th to 10th and 13th to 14th, is more than just another electronic music festival. Afterlife’s artistic vision has changed in a big way, and their groundbreaking relationship with Interscope Records has made it even bigger. This growth comes at a crucial time, as Tale Of Us members Carmine Conte (MRAK) and Matteo Milleri (Anyma) embark on their own artistic paths while still working together as a creative force.
Each day of the event has been carefully planned to reflect the unique sound signatures of MRAK and Anyma, promising a journey into their respective artistic depths that has never been done before. This way of choosing artists makes sure that festival-goers don’t just enjoy a show, but also a carefully planned trip through the past, present, and future of Afterlife’s music.
These festivals are happening right after Afterlife’s historic partnership with Interscope Records, which gives the label the chance to reach global crowds it has never had before.
Fans will be able to be a part of this important moment in the history of electronic music for the first time during the pre-sale starting on February 26, 2025, and the general sale on February 27, 2025.

Back-to-back sets have always been part of electronic music, but 2025 is seeing more of them than ever. Festivals are booking them across all genres, artists are embracing the challenge of collaboration, and fans are responding with excitement. These performances bring an unpredictable energy that solo sets often do not, making them some of the most talked-about moments at major events.

Festivals are booking them across all genres, artists are embracing the challenge of collaboration, and fans are responding with excitement. These performances bring an unpredictable energy that solo sets often do not, making them some of the most talked-about moments at major events.
Ultra Miami, Tomorrowland, and Thailand’s biggest festivals are all showcasing these pairings in a way that suggests they are becoming more than just a festival extra. Whether it is established artists who have shared the stage before or completely new combinations, this year is proving that back-to-back sets are shaping the direction of live EDM.
Ultra Miami 2025: A Festival with High-Profile B2Bs
Ultra Miami has always been a festival that sets the pace for the year, and its 2025 lineup reflects the growing presence of back-to-back performances. While the festival remains stacked with solo headliners, a few standout collaborations have added another layer to the experience.
Anyma B2B Solomun brings together two artists who have each made a major impact on modern melodic and deep sounds. Anyma’s approach to Afterlife-style productions combined with Solomun’s reputation for shaping extended sets makes this one of the most anticipated collaborations of the weekend. Deadmau5 B2B Pendulum is a fusion of two distinct styles. Deadmau5 has spent years refining his layered, progressive sound, while Pendulum’s roots in drum and bass bring a completely different approach. Seeing how they navigate each other’s strengths in a festival setting will be something fans will be paying close attention to. Dom Dolla B2B John Summit as Everything Always is another highlight. As two of the most in-demand house artists, they have already built strong chemistry behind the decks. This performance will likely be a continuation of the energy they have brought to previous festivals under their joint project. Thailand’s Festivals Are Embracing B2Bs
Thailand’s festival scene has been growing rapidly, and 2025 marks the first time major events in the country are putting back-to-back performances at the forefront. Siam Songkran and S2O are featuring some of their biggest lineups yet, with collaborations that have never been seen in Thailand before.
Yellow Claw B2B Flosstradamus is a long-awaited moment for fans of trap and bass music. Both acts have defined the genre in different ways, and this performance will be the first time they share the stage in Thailand at Siam Songkran. Dimitri Vegas B2B Steve Aoki is another first. Both artists have played in Thailand before, but this will be their debut back-to-back performance in the country at Siam Songkran. Given their shared history of festival anthems and crowd-driven energy, this will be one of the most energetic sets of the weekend. Brooks B2B Mesto B2B Justin Mylo at S2O Festival is one of the rare triple collaborations happening this year. These three have helped shape the future house and big room sound, and putting them together in a B3B format is something that fans have been eager to see. Tomorrowland 2025’s Exclusive B2Bs
Tomorrowland has always been known for giving artists the space to create exclusive festival moments, and its 2025 edition is filled with rare back-to-back sets.
HI-LO B2B Eli Brown brings together two artists who thrive in the darker, bass-driven side of club music. Third Party B2B Matisse & Sadko is a dream set for progressive house fans, combining the strengths of two acts that have created some of the biggest festival anthems. Dimitri Vegas B2B Fantasm and DubVision B2B Third Party add to a lineup that is filled with pairings that have not been seen before on the festival’s stages. A Recent Example of Where This Is Heading
Techno has also been embracing back-to-back performances. A recent standout was Amelie Lens and Charlotte de Witte, two of the most prominent names in the genre. Their set combined the high-energy approach that both are known for with moments that felt entirely new, showing how these collaborations allow artists to experiment beyond their usual solo performances.
Why is 2025 Seeing More B2Bs and B3Bs?
Several factors have contributed to the rise of these performances.
Fans are looking for something that feels different. Festival lineups can start to feel repetitive when the same artists return each year, but a fresh pairing makes a performance feel unique. A solo set from a well-known DJ is always a major draw, but seeing two artists work together in real time creates an experience that cannot be replicated.
Artists are more open to stepping outside their usual formats. While some of these collaborations have been planned far in advance, others have come together naturally as artists push themselves into new creative spaces. Whether it is playing with someone from a different genre or testing a different kind of set structure, DJs are increasingly embracing these challenges.
Social media and festival live streams have also played a role. Unique back-to-back performances tend to generate viral moments that travel far beyond the festival grounds. When a set like Amelie Lens and Charlotte de Witte’s has been quite the talk of the scene especially with countless videos being shared online. Such a set reinforces how much fans are looking for something new and unfamiliar.
Is This a Trend or the Future of Live EDM?
It is difficult to say whether back-to-back performances will continue to grow after 2025, but the fact that so many festivals are focusing on them suggests that they are not just a passing phase. Some collaborations might turn into long-term projects, while others might remain one-time experiences that are never repeated. Either way, they are giving fans something fresh and making festival lineups feel more dynamic.
What is clear is that electronic music is always evolving. Right now, back-to-back sets are shaping how live performances are structured, offering artists and audiences something that goes beyond a traditional DJ set. Whether this is just a moment in time or the beginning of a shift in how festivals are booked, one thing is certain. This year, more than ever, some of the biggest moments in EDM will come from two or even three DJs stepping up together and delivering something that will never be played the same way again.Miami, Tomorrowland, and Thailand’s biggest festivals are all showcasing these pairings in a way that suggests they are becoming more than just a festival extra. Here we sit down with Lorenzo aka Lehar, the founder of the innovative electronic label, Multinotes, to explore his journey, the ethos of the label, and his upcoming creative endeavours.
From the magic of performing in unique locations like Tulum to his plans for 2025, Lehar shares his thoughts on curating unforgettable experiences, signing authentic artists, and what it takes to push boundaries in both music production and live performances. We also dive into the thriving underground scene in Venice and glimpse the exciting future of Multinotes.
Hi Lorenzo! How are you? Pleasure to speak with you!
Hi guys, thanks for having me! I’m doing great, just coming off an intense but fulfilling start to the year, and I’m really excited about what’s coming next.
Let’s jump straight in. How was the Multinotes showcase in Tulum and what made it so special?
The Multinotes showcase in Tulum was incredible, as always. There’s something unique about playing in such a stunning natural environment, surrounded by people who are completely immersed in the music.
What ingredients do you believe make a stand-out label showcase?
A successful label showcase needs more than just a great lineup; it’s about curating an experience. For me, the key ingredients are musical coherence, a venue that enhances the atmosphere, and a crowd that’s open to discovery. It’s not just about booking big names but creating a journey that reflects the essence of the label. The energy between the artists and the audience is also crucial—when that connection happens, the showcase becomes unforgettable.
With Multinotes, what ethos or vibe are you trying to convey, and how would you describe the Multinotes sound?
Multinotes was born with the idea of being a creative space for artists who aren’t afraid to experiment. We don’t follow trends; we focus on music that has a timeless quality and tells a story. The sound of the label is diverse, but there’s always a strong emotional depth, whether it’s melodic, deep, or driving. It’s about bringing together different influences and perspectives while maintaining a strong artistic identity.
What do you look for in an artist when signing them to the label? What makes the cut?
I look for artists who have something authentic to say with their music—people who take risks and aren’t just replicating what’s already out there. It’s not about a specific genre or sound, but rather about a unique perspective and a sense of identity in their productions. When I listen to demos, I want to feel something: an emotion, a narrative, a signature sound. That’s what makes the difference.
Tell us about the scene in Venice. Has it changed much in the past years, and if so, for better or worse and why?
Venice has always had a very particular relationship with music and art. It’s a city of deep cultural heritage, but it has also faced challenges when it comes to nightlife and club culture. In recent years, there’s been a growing underground movement, with more people interested in quality electronic music. However, there are still limitations due to local regulations, which can make it difficult for the scene to fully thrive. That said, those who are passionate about music in Venice are truly dedicated, and that’s something very special.
What are you looking to achieve this year?
This year, my goal is to push my creative boundaries even further. I have several new productions lined up, including more releases on Multinotes and collaborations with labels that I deeply respect. I also want to continue refining my sound and experimenting in the studio. On the performance side, I’m focusing on playing in unique settings that allow me to connect with the audience on a deeper level.
Any shows coming up you are particularly excited about? If you can share them.
Yes! This year, I’m really excited to return to Brazil, a country I absolutely love and where I’ve always felt a deep connection with the crowd. The energy there is incredible, and every show feels like a special experience. Another big highlight for me is my first-ever Australian tour in May, where we’ll be bringing the Multinotes Showcase to Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane. It’s a milestone for me, and I can’t wait to share this journey with the Australian audience!
Any exciting label guests lined up this year that we should be excited for too?
As always, I’m confident we won’t disappoint—stay tuned! Working with established artists is always an honor, but I have to say that discovering and nurturing new talent is something I find incredibly rewarding. I love coming across artists who bring fresh perspectives and innovative ideas to the table. It’s not just about releasing great music, but also about creating opportunities for emerging talents to shine. The industry thrives on constant evolution, and having a solid platform that can support and elevate these new creative artists is something I take great pride in.
What record would you say was the catalyst for your electronic musical journey?
That’s a tough one! There have been so many records that shaped my path. Rather than a single track, it was a series of moments—certain melodies, rhythms, and atmospheres—that made me fall in love with electronic music.

And now, time for some old Tiësto! The Dutch EDM legend is back full throttle with an incredible gift for his fans. Tiësto just uploaded his full 4-hour set at Club Space Miami. January 24th of this year, the DJ took listeners on a beautiful journey through a sunrise at the terrace in Miami, Florida. Similar to recent sets, he has tapped into more Progressive and Melodic sounds, similar to his sounds from the earlier 2000s.
4-Hour Club Space Tracklist
DJs work hard, but ravers work harder. Just as the set was released, people flooded the comment section, in which we were able to scout the Tracklist for this wonderful morning set. He definitely focused on many popular Melodic Techno artists such as ANNA, Massano, and Argy, including plenty of IDs and his very own unreleased remixes. Moreover, he played popular underground artists such as Max Styler, Odd Mob, Mochakk, Beltran, Adam Sellouk, and more.
The set also includes plenty of Trance classic remixes, such as ‘Delirium’, ‘Rapture’, ‘Children’, and ‘Universal Nation‘. The set seems to be an extention of his set at the Sphere in Las Vegas at the beginning of January, where he was praised for his return to his sonic roots. This is definitely the start of an amazing year for Tiësto. Yes, he may be extremely popular and mainstream at the moment. However, making time to provide an outstanding experience while revisiting styles that made him famous is how he can captivate mass audiences over and over again.
Next
The artist ended January with his newest release Prismatic EP Pack One, and he announced two separate Vegas residencies for the summer. Tiësto is gracing us this summer at Omnia Nightclub, Tao Beach and LIV Nightclub. Moreover, he has a couple appeareances at Kygo’s newest dayclub Palm Beach Tree Club, opening this summer at the MGM Grand.
Don’t miss out on the ‘Adagio for Strings’ producer, as he will be playing at EDC Mexico this wekeend, and Ultra Music Festival in Miami next month.

In Los Angeles’s electronic music scene, Oliver Marshak has become a powerful figure who bridges the gap between true underground music and mainstream appeal.
The ‘FACE / NASTY‘ EP on CamelPhat‘s When Stars Align label shows off this dynamic range with two unique tracks that demonstrate how versatile he is as a producer. Marshak is still making waves in the world of electronic music, so we sat down with him to talk about his background, how he came up with ideas, and the stories behind his most recent works.
Marshak was born and raised in Los Angeles, and his knowledge of the city’s varied nightlife has had a big impact on the way he makes music. From basement raves to parties in the Hollywood Hills, his experience with different types of music has created a sound that is hard to put into a single category while always focusing on moving dance floors.

How did growing up in Los Angeles shape your sound and career?
LA has always been a huge part of my journey. The city’s nightlife is a mix of everything—underground raves, high-end clubs, epic parties in Hollywood Hills, and everything in between. That variety shaped the way I approach music. I’ve always loved blending different influences and creating something that feels both energetic and unpredictable. It’s all about making people dance. Throwing my own events also gave me a deep understanding of what makes people move, and that’s something I carry into my sets and productions.
Congrats on your debut on CamelPhat’s When Stars Align! What’s the story behind the FACE / NASTY EP?
Thanks! This EP is all about energy, but in two very different ways. FACE has this fun, punchy groove while still carrying a dark, seductive vibe—it’s a track that works in both intimate clubs and big festival settings. NASTY, on the other hand, is heavier, more aggressive, and built for those peak-time moments when you need something to hit hard. They both bring intensity but in their own unique way.
How do FACE and NASTY differ in production and audience?
FACE is a track that keeps you dancing from the start. It’s got this cool, punchy energy. It’s fun, sexy ,and a little dark at the same time, making it super versatile—it works just as well in a packed club as it does on a massive stage.
NASTY is just a beast. It’s bold, aggressive, and has this relentless drive that takes over a big room. It’s meant for those wild, high-energy moments when the crowd is fully in it, hands in the air dancing to the music.
What was it like working with Gozlan on FACE?
It was such an effortless collaboration. He sent me an amazing idea and I immediately saw the roadmap for the rest of the track. From the start, we wanted something that was massive, but still had that fun, sexy, punchy energy. It came together naturally and seeing Solomun, CamelPhat and many others play it at massive shows was exciting.
How did the collaboration with Kimonos on NASTY happen?
Omri and Gabriel are my good friends. They came over to my studio and we just started cooking. When we started working on NASTY, we wanted something with attitude, something that wasn’t just another club track. The idea came together pretty quick and it turned into a monster.
Do you plan your sound in advance, or let it evolve in the studio?
I try not to overthink things—if something feels right in the moment, I go with it. If I have an idea ahead of time, I make sure to record myself humming it in my voice memos so I don’t forget it.
How do you balance indie dance and house influences?
I just focus on groove and energy. I don’t want to be stuck in one genre, and I think that’s what keeps my sound fresh. Whether it’s something more groovy/punchy like FACE or more aggressive like NASTY, I always make sure the track makes you move.
What sets your sound apart?
I think it’s the mix of exciting grooves, vocals, and raw energy. I want my tracks to create moments—whether it’s a deep, rolling vibe or a big, explosive drop, everything I make is about taking the listener somewhere.
Who are your dream collaborators?
Honestly, anyone who brings a fresh vibe and isn’t afraid to push boundaries. I love working with people who have a unique sound or a different way of approaching music—whether it’s vocals, melodies, or just a crazy groove. If it clicks and feels right, that’s all that matters.
How does live performance shape your music?
Playing live is where everything comes together. It’s the best way to test out new music and see how people respond. Every crowd is different, so I’m constantly adjusting and feeding off that energy. Some of my best ideas come from moments in a set where I realize, “Okay, this is what’s missing,” and then I take that back into the studio.
What’s next for you?
A lot of new music, more collaborations (including 2 massive tracks with Vintage Culture), and some really exciting shows. This year is just getting started and I can’t wait to share everything that’s coming!
Oliver Marshak is part of a new breed of producers who don’t want to be limited by genre. His work with Gozlan on “FACE” and Kimonos on “NASTY” shows not only how technically skilled he is, but also how he can change and adapt while keeping his signature sound of high energy.
Marshak’s career keeps going up as he plans more projects with other artists, like a track with Vintage Culture that everyone is looking forward to. He is an artist to watch in the world of electronic music because of the way he makes music—balancing raw energy with complex sound design. Marshak is always working to make unforgettable moments on the dance floor, whether he’s making festival songs or underground club weapons.
The “FACE / NASTY” EP shows how versatile and creative he is, and big names in the business like Solomun and CamelPhat praised it. As the scene in Los Angeles changes, Marshak’s impact grows, making him a key player in shaping the future of electronic music. More songs and shows are on the way, so it’s clear that this is just the start of an exciting period in his artistic life.

Sometimes the best way forward is through the rearview mirror.
Marc Antonix’s “Visions” proves this point, crafting an electro-house love letter that feels both nostalgic and absolutely current. Landing January 31st, it’s a track that understands what made the genre great while refusing to simply replay old hits.
The Los Angeles producer, who’s been steadily building momentum, knows his history. “Visions” rides on lush chord progressions and crystalline female vocals that could’ve soundtracked peak-era blog house, but the production speaks to 2025’s sensibilities. It’s the kind of track that’s earned him support from everyone from Don Diablo to The Chainsmokers, and slots supporting Alan Walker and Haliene.
After lighting up Academy LA and Avalon Hollywood, and dropping introspective cuts like “Let You Go” and “Glory Nights,” Antonix seems poised for breakthrough. With “Visions,” he’s not just channeling electronic music’s past – he’s helping shape its future. Between those retro-tinged synth patterns and thoroughly modern sound design, this is what evolution sounds like.

In a groundbreaking move that has sent ripples of excitement through the electronic music world, two titans, Monstercat and Hospital Records, have joined forces to champion the next generation of drum & bass artists.
This groundbreaking partnership kicks off with a week-long rollout of singles, culminating in a full compilation release on 31 January. The excitement begins with ‘What Are We Proving’ by the electrifying duo hayve and producer-songwriter DRIIA. This single sets the stage for an epic collaboration. Followed up by DNMO and SOLAH teamed up for ‘Find Peace’, a track that showcases the diversity and innovation within the drum & bass scene. Anaïs and hayve deliver ‘IDGAF’, a clash of high-energy big room drum & bass and Anaïs’s deep, roller sound, straight from her Bristol roots. Bensley, BOP, and Degs join forces for ‘Starchild’, a sonic journey that pushes the boundaries of drum & bass. The full compilation finally drops on Friday the 31st of Jan, spearheaded by ’99 Octane’ from London’s acclaimed MC P Money, Whiney, and hayve. This grime-infused drum & bass banger is designed for pure adrenaline.
Monstercat and Hospital Records have built unparalleled reputations for their contributions to electronic music. Monstercat, founded in 2011, has become one of the most influential independent record labels globally, championing artists like Marshmello, Kaskade, and Virtual Riot.  Known for its genre-diverse releases and presence at festivals like Tomorrowland and Rampage Open Air, Monstercat has also formed groundbreaking partnerships with gaming brands like Fortnite and Rocket League.
Hospital Records, established in 1996 in South London by London Elektricity and Chris Goss, is an iconic name in drum & bass, representing artists such as Metrik, Danny Byrd, Fred V, High Contrast & many more.  With its award-winning events brand, Hospitality, and a history of innovative projects, Hospital Records has become synonymous with pushing the boundaries of drum & bass on a global scale and bringing the melodic liquid sound into the mainstream.
This historic partnership between Monstercat, renowned for its diverse catalogue of EDM, and Hospital Records, a cornerstone of the drum & bass scene, marks a pivotal moment in the respective genre’s evolution. The two labels have long shared a close bond, from casual team outings to supporting each other’s events at the Amsterdam Dance Event. Recognizing the global resurgence of drum & bass and fueled by fan enthusiasm, they embarked on a mission to shine a spotlight on the genre’s rising stars.
Central to this project is a four-day writing camp held at TYX Studios in Tileyard London, back in February 2024. Twenty-three talented artists from both labels converged to create an impressive 24 demos, the best of which will be featured on the compilation. With artists from both labels collaborating under the guidance of both A&R teams, the result is a truly international sound that pushes the boundaries of drum & bass. This compilation not only celebrates the vibrant diversity and innovation within the scene but also underscores the strong connection between these two powerhouse labels.
The Monstercat and Hospital Records drum & bass compilation is not just a collection of tracks; it’s a statement of intent. It’s a testament to the power of collaboration and a celebration of the genre’s bright future. With its diverse range of artists and sounds, this compilation is sure to have something for every drum & bass fan, but will definitely hit hard with those of use whose musical palette was curated on YouTube in the 2010’s.
To celebrate this transatlantic compilation, we have an interview with Anaïs and hayve. Anaïs is a Bristol-based drum & bass DJ and producer known for her incorporation of 4 to the floor sound and high-energy performances, representing the Hospital Records team. While hayve, AKA Omar and Aaro, a production duo based in Finland who’s hard hitting productions has garnered them praise from the likes of Metrik, Kanine, Fred V and more, represented Monstercat.  UKF sat down with the collaborators to get to know them a bit better and to get an insight of what went down in the writing camp.
So where are you guys from?
hayve (Aaro): I’m from Finland.
hayve (Omer): And I’m from Tel Aviv, Israel but I’m staying in Finland now.
What’s the drum & bass scene like in Finland?
hayve (Aaro): Drum & bass Is definitely growing in Finland! There were a few events back in the day which would only have like 40 or 50 people at them. But now we’ve seen bigger acts in the festival scene like Kanine, Metrik, MUZZ, Delta Heavy, and Freaks and Geeks playing here recently.
That’s great to hear! What’s the most popular genre in Finland at the moment?
hayve (Aaro): I think techno is still the most popular EDM genre, especially in the live event scene. We like our hard techno in Finland.
Anaïs, where are you from?
Anaïs: I’m from Bristol, so lots of sick drum & bass here.
You were both recently part of the Monstercat and Hospital Records writing camp in London. How did this collaboration between these two labels come about?
hayve (Aaro): I just think that Monstercat respects a lot of labels that have been supporting a certain genre from the early days, not trend-chasing. Hospital’s been around for ages, and they’ve had some of the most legendary drum & bass artists. And Going Quantum, the guy we work with the most at Monstercat, is our main A&R and a good friend of ours, and he’s an artist as well. He’s been a big fan of drum & bass forever, and he’s a massive fan of a lot of Hospital artists. I think it was a good idea, two powerful labels in America and the UK.
Anaïs: True. I think Monstercat is the opposite of greedy. They want people to succeed. They don’t really care about the money aspect or the competition.
hayve (Aaro): I feel like Monstercat is like a tight family too. A lot of the artists who are there are releasing consistently, the same with Hospital. I feel like a good way for them to bring new artists for their fanbase to see is to do a label collab and get both of the artists exposed to another kind of fanbase.
You love to hear it. Both of you have been doing bits in the drum & bass world. Have you guys ever met or worked together before?
hayve (Aaro): We’ve actually never worked together before or even met before this. The first time we met in person was at the writing camp. It was interesting, the session was very spontaneous. We didn’t have any rough demos or anything. We didn’t even know each other’s styles either. We spent the first part of the session listening to each other’s tracks to get used to our individual sounds. Then we just threw in some drum samples,  bass sounds, and figured out some riffs in Ableton. It took us a while to wrap up the tune, but I think it was, like, two or three sessions in a voice call, and we were done with the tune.
hayve (Omer): Yeah, the first session we met with Anaïs . We got the original drop idea, the first drop idea, and a bit of a build-up idea. But then we did a Discord session later on, and that’s where we kind of made the whole rest of the tune in one go.
Out of all the acts from both teams, how did you decide who to collaborate with? Were you familiar with each other’s work or was it a “pick a name out of a bucket” situation?
Anaïs: The A&R teams did a really good job just putting together names that they thought would fit with each other.
It seems like a good combo! So, tell us about the name ‘IDGAF’. Why did you guys land on that provocative name for the track?
hayve (Aaro): We’re usually not very good at coming up with names for our tracks.
Anaïs: We didn’t really care. We just did what we thought would be fun.
hayve (Aaro): It was a ‘we don’t really care what happens with the song’ kind of vibe. I feel like that was also why it came together so quickly, and it was such a fun experience because it was very easy to make this tune. Usually, drum & bass is super technical and nitpicky, and you end up spending hours and hours just on an eight-bar loop, perfecting that. We just kind of made the whole track in a few hours, and then ended up, afterwards, trying to perfect every element. So, the name fits perfectly, the vibe of the session and how the song came together.
Can you tell us a bit about the production side of things? ‘IDGAF’ sits right on that line between that Bristol sound and Belgium Jump Up. What did you use for the synths?
hayve (Aaro): We’ve been using a lot of Minimal Audio’s Current and Kilohearts Phase Plant recently. For ‘IDGAF’ we did most of the stuff in Current. We’ve been heavy users of Serum for years and years, and now maybe a couple of years of Phase Plant, but Minimal Audio dropped this synth, Current, maybe one and a half years ago. We were just playing around with that. This synth has a feature where you can randomize all these effects, the presets and everything, and you can get very interesting and quick results without thinking about anything.
Anaïs: I think I used mostly Serum for my sounds for this one.
UKF: Tell us a little bit about those rich pads used in the intro?
hayve: I think there might be a bit of Current. There is probably some preset that we made earlier, or it might be even out of one of the synths. I have a Sub 37 at home, and I have some other synths as well.
Anaïs: I recorded one of my friends who plays violin, and we used some of that for the intro. There are definitely some parts out of synths, but there are some actual real recorded strings as well.
Interesting. And what about the drums? They’re super crunchy. They’ve got that big room sound. It’s fantastic.
hayve (Aaro): We had a session with Waeys before, and he had some really sick drums, and he actually recommended this one drum kit but I can’t remember the name right now. I just heard the drums, and I was like, ‘I really need these drums.’ I think I did some extra layering with some synthesizing, adding some noise and textures to the drums. But yeah, I think they’re mostly just out of this one drum kit that Waeys recommended.
Don’t fix what’s not broken. Can you tell us a bit about the relationship between Hospital and Monstercat? Why do these two labels get on so well?
hayve (Aaro): Yeah, they’re both very community-driven, and they also have a lot of crossover in terms of their listenership.
What’s been your experience working with Hospital and Monstercat?
Anaïs: I think it’s been great. Hospital, they’re all like my family, so working with them is easy. And then as soon as I was in the studio with these two, it was like everything clicked. I’m not necessarily the techiest producer, but I like melodic stuff, and I think my sound is quite UK, so the two of us working together, we created something pretty amazing. And I would have never made that if I was in the studio by myself. That’s why it’s so good to collaborate.
Since all three of you seem to have grown up with both Hospital and Monstercat tracks on your playlists, let’s do some crate digging. First off, what’s your favourite Hospital tune of all time?
Anaïs: I’m a big fan of Urbandawn. I literally love everything he’s released is great. His “Come Together feat. Tyson Kelly” is one of my all-time favourites.
hayve (Aaro): That’s a difficult one. I’ve been listening to Hospital for a long time. I would probably say Netsky’s ‘Puppy’.
hayve (Omer): Lots of recent Camo & Krooked stuff I really like. I can’t really name one, because everything is so different. Probably Camo & Krooked & Mefjus “Kallisto”.
Great choices all around. Now, what about your favourite Monstercat release?
Anaïs: This might be a bit of a cop out, but I discovered hayve’s music way before I met them in the studio, and I was like, ‘Yo, this is sick!’. Probably hayve & TYPHON “Clique”.
hayve (Omer): I would say ‘Crab Rave’ by Noisestorm.
What’s your favourite track on the whole compilation, besides your own?
Anaïs: I really like the Bensley, BOP, and Degs track ‘Starchild’.
hayve (Aaro): I also like the Waeys, Bensley, and Hoax track ‘Twerp’.
hayve (Omer): And if I could choose one track where we are also included, it’s the track with P Money and Whiney, ’99 Octane’.
What was it like working with P Money?
hayve (Aaro): It was cool. It was quick as well. He just had ideas instantly. He recorded it really fast, and without retakes. He was just nailing it, time after time after time. It was crazy.
That’s amazing! Will there be future camps or collaborations between you?
Anaïs: Yes, we actually have another in the works. It’s in the very early stages, but it’s got a vibe, and that’s all that matters. I have the stems. It’s a bit of a sassy one.
That’s great! So tell us, Anaïs, what’s in store for you this year?
Anaïs: I’ve got an EP with Skantia which came out on Valentine’s, and I’ve got a track coming out with P Money.
That’s great! And what about you guys, hayve?
hayve (Aaro): We have these three tracks coming out on the Hospital and Monstercat compilation. We have a remix coming out, can’t say too much about the details yet. And hopefully a couple of bigger collabs as well. We’re leaving for the US tomorrow for some writing sessionsThis transatlantic collaboration between Monstercat and Hospital Records is more than just a compilation; it’s a testament to the power of community and the boundless potential of drum & bass. By bringing together artists from both sides of the pond, they’ve created a melting pot of ideas and sounds that push the genre in exciting new directions.
hayve and Anaïs are just two of the many talented artists featured on this compilation. Their track ‘IDGAF’ is a perfect example of the magic that can happen when artists from different backgrounds come together and create something truly special. With its infectious energy and undeniable groove, ‘IDGAF’ is sure to be a dancefloor favourite for years to come.
But this compilation is more than just a collection of bangers. It’s a celebration of the global drum & bass community and the spirit of collaboration that drives it. In a world that often feels divided, Monstercat and Hospital Records are showing us the power of music to bring people together. Whether you’re a seasoned junglist or a newcomer to the world of drum & bass, this compilation is sure to have something for you.

LIDO Festival, is the newest addition to London’s summer calendar, announcing the final addition to its series of concerts. Massive Attack has announced to headline LIDO Festival in Victoria Park; their first London festival show in 9 years. On Friday 6th June, the iconic Bristol band will not only perform their acclaimed live show (designed in collaboration between Robert Del Naja, United Visual Artists and documentarist Adam Curtis) but continue their work with ACT 1.5 to rapidly decarbonise live music events. With their ongoing partnership with clean energy provider Ecotricity, their performance at LIDO will be 100% powered by battery – significantly reducing both carbon emissions and local air pollution.
Last year, ACT 1.5 and Massive Attack hosted their first large-scale climate action accelerator in Bristol that sought to completely reimagine how music events can be staged. The all-day outdoor event, described by the New York Times as the “gold standard for green gigs” delivered an unprecedented network of decarbonisation methods across all scopes, and was the first practical phase of work designed with scientists from the renowned Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research. 3 Months later, they applied their science-based approach to an indoor event in Liverpool’s M&S Bank Arena joined by IDLES and Nile Rodgers & Chic. Continuing their partnership with clean energy provider Ecotricity, ‘ACT 1.5 presents…’ aimed to test, operate & adopt a range of measures to dramatically reduce the level of carbon emissions & air pollution that would usually be produced at live music events.
Speaking about the event Robert Del Naja (3D) writes: “To present London’s first ever 100% battery-powered festival day with a dynamic range of artists is an optimum outcome for us. History shows it’s often the combination of art and science that overcomes the greatest challenges we face, so it’s good to see LIDO take learnings from our ACT1.5 event last year and apply those technologies to where they see emissions coming from. Clean productions beginning this journey to normalisation is good news for everyone, but especially for music fans that come to festivals and the local communities that live around them.”
Support will come from a stellar line-up including the French duo Air, famed for their elevated and otherworldly pop, including classics such as ‘Sexy Boy’, ‘Playground Love’, ‘Cherry Blossom Girl’ and ‘Kelly Watched the Stars’. Also on the bill will be Yasiin Bey and The Alchemist are FORENSICS. Hip hop legends Yasiin Bey (formerly known as Mos Def) and The Alchemist recently presented a live-streamed performance of FORENSICS on Bandcamp and a full album is set to follow. They said: “FORENSICS is more than the name of an album, it’s descriptive of a new approach to delivering art, bringing together the experience of musical content with fashion, visual art, technology and community. The approach foments an intimate bond with the artists’ core audience, delivering an experience that resonates on multiple levels.”
Jim King, CEO of European Festivals, AEG Presents, said: “Big changes require both courage and determination, and I cannot speak highly enough of Massive Attack and their team for embracing the challenge of launching this important initiative. AEG was fortunate to collaborate with Massive Attack on the ACT 1.5 event in Bristol last summer, which set the standard and inspired our team to continue the work they have started at LIDO. Massive Attack have demonstrated that there is a better way to operate for the future of both our planet and our industry. LIDO represents the next step towards a broader adoption of industry-leading sustainability principles across AEG European Festivals, all while continuing to bring the world’s biggest artists and the best production to deliver incredible experiences for fans at our festivals.”
Massive Attack will join previously announced headliners Jamie xx (Saturday 7 June), OUTBREAK Fest (Friday 13 June), Charli xcx’s own party girl festival (Saturday 14 June) and London Grammar (Sunday 15 June) for the inaugural festival. LIDO is putting artists first and handing them control, for a festival entirely programmed by the headliners. They will bring their favourite artists, collaborators, newly tipped artists and their own style to each day. From the acts to the artwork and stage design – every aspect is personal to them. Named after Victoria Park’s Lido Field, the 10-day event will offer hand-picked music line-ups with a strong focus on sustainability, as well as community events during the week.
More headliners, full line ups and programmes are to be announced. Follow LIDO on Instagram and join their newsletter here for updates and tickets.

After over five (5) years of contentious and controversial litigation, Lorin Ashton aka Bassnectar has settled the civil lawsuit against him. The lawsuit alleged claims of sexual abuse, grooming, and even sex trafficking at one point.
In 2020, Lorin Ashton faced multiple allegations of sexual misconduct, including claims of engaging in inappropriate relationships with underage girls. These accusations led to a lawsuit filed in 2021, alleging child sexual abuse, sex trafficking, and the creation and possession of child pornography. Ashton denied all allegations, describing them as “outrageous” and “without merit.” These words alone turned away many fans. In response to the controversy, he announced an indefinite hiatus from his music career. Many other artist like Blunts & Blondes, Space Jesus, Datsik, SNAILS, and Graves have seen accusations in the past years. Several of them have been vindicated since those accusations were made. In the past year or so, he has starting (with varying degrees of success) to restart his musical career. His shows have been marred with controversy as the case has gone on, so his events have had to keep venues secret in order to avoid cancellations and such.
It’s important to note that this was not a criminal case, but a civil lawsuit. The case had been moving towards trial and evidence was being ruled on as the trial approached. Now it appears that the parties have come to a confidential settlement agreement and the case against Bassnectar has been dismissed. That means that, essentially, this matter is closed. There will not be a vindication nor will there be a finding of wrongdoing on the part of Bassnecar. Even the Bassnectar subreddit community is torn about what to make of this outcome.
Since the Order describes a confidentiality agreement, we suspect we will never hear details about the settlement from the accusers. It’s truly a mixed bag, where people will still be divided as to what this settlement means about the truth of the accusations. You can view the Dismissal Order below. Does this affect your view of Bassnectar at this point?

Steve Angello and Modern Tales release their new single ‘Darkness In Me‘ via Astralwerks / SIZE. The song explores themes of resisting temptation and impulsive desires. Alongside the track, they released an exciting video. In the video, the protagonist, Gleb Sazonov, takes an emotional and transformative journey towards personal acceptance. The pulsing beat paired with powerful artistic scenes, strobing lights, and AI visuals make for a unique immersive viewing experience.
‘Darkness In Me’
This is Angello’s first release of the year. Last fall, he released ‘Hooligans”’which was followed by a thrilling return to the Brooklyn Mirage stage. Angello also dropped ‘ME’ and collaborated with fellow Swedish House Mafia band member, Sebastian Ingrosso, for their release ‘Skip.’ Last summer, Swedish House Mafia played a historic 6-week Ushuaïa Ibiza Residency in addition to an array of international music festivals including Garorock Festival, Panama Open Air Festival, Lucca Summer Festival, Untold Festival, Findings Festival, and the mainstage at Tomorrowland, which marked their return to the festival after 12 years.
The track has a retro vibe to it, with heavy synths and tempo. The vocals are vibrant and captivating. The song is within the same realm as Camelphat and Ali Love’s ‘Compute’. ‘Darnkess in Me’ is a great representation of modern music with past influences, that feel timeless yet innovative.
About Steve Angello
Long before earning GRAMMY® Award nominations, performing to millions of fans on multiple continents, crashing charts worldwide, and tallying streams in the billions, Steve Angello realized his purpose as a kid in Sweden. He collaborated with childhood friend Sebastian Ingrosso before launching his own label SIZE during 2003. He also teamed up with Axwell in Supermode, landing a hit with “Tell Me Why.” In 2008, he co-founded Swedish House Mafia with Axwell and Ingrosso. They earned consecutive GRAMMY nods for Best Dance Recording with the Platinum “Save the World” in 2012 and quintuple-Platinum “Don’t You Worry Child” in 2013.
Angello also asserted himself as a solo force of nature. He occupied a spot on DJ Mag’s coveted Top 100 DJs list for 14 consecutive years and received two DJ Awards. Following his full-length debut Wild Youth, he ascended to another creative peak on his 2018 sophomore offering, Human, collaborating with Bishop T.D. Jakes on “Rejoice,” Pusha T on “Freedom,” Barns Courtney on “Dopamine,” and more. 2021 marked the momentous return of Swedish House Mafia with their long-awaited debut LP, Paradise Again – which topped the Billboard Top Dance/Electronic Albums Chart and UK Official Dance Albums Chart – and subsequent world tour.
About Modern Tales
In a land shaped by the rugged beauty of Sweden, there were two brothers, Jonas Rathsman and Franz Novotny, whose paths were destined to intertwine. Each set forth on his own journey, carving out his place in the world, until the call of a shared vision brought them together once more. Thus, Modern Tales was born—a union steeped in the spirit of the North, where echoes of melancholy and shades of mystery wove their way into every note they created. Their music, like the tales of old, stirs the soul, moving heart and body alike. It is a sound both vast and intimate, weaving cinematic threads with the raw textures of human emotion, all carried on the winds of their homeland’s timeless lore.
In the year 2020, when the world stood still and shadows loomed, the brothers found light in a blank canvas, painting it with the colors of a new endeavor. Their songs, forged in solitude, carried far, reaching the ears of Rüfüs Du Sol, who welcomed them on a journey that led to distant stages and a covenant with Rose Avenue. It was upon these stages that their gift for storytelling came alive, their music binding strangers together in shared feeling. But this is only the beginning. Modern Tales stands at the threshold of a long and winding road, their Nordic sound a torch to guide them and those who follow. What lies ahead is a saga yet unwritten, one that will inspire and endure through time.
In order to find the light, one must fight the darkness within, enjoy ‘Darkness in Me’
