The DOJ and the FTC have officially launched a public inquiry in connection with a March executive order targeting ‘unfair practices in the live entertainment market.’ Photo Credit: ActionVance
The Justice Department and the Federal Trade Commission have officially launched an inquiry into “unfair and anticompetitive practices” in the live entertainment space.
The DOJ and the FTC formally announced this public inquiry today, a month and change after President Trump signed an executive order targeting “unscrupulous middlemen who sit at the intersection between artists and fans.”
As we noted then, the order gave the mentioned department and agency (besides the Treasury Department) 180 days to provide a report describing “any recommendations for regulations or legislation necessary to protect consumers” in the ticketing world.
And it’s in connection with the report that the entities are now fielding comments concerning “harmful practices” in the live sector. The public, from consumers to companies, have until Monday, July 7th to weigh in if so inclined, according to the inquiry announcement.
In addition to insights pertaining to the previously highlighted “unfair and anticompetitive practices,” the DOJ and the FTC are welcoming comments about “the competitive effects of current state and federal regulations and laws in the live concert and entertainment industry.”
“We will continue to closely examine this market and look for opportunities where vigorous enforcement of the antitrust laws can lead to increased competition that makes tickets more affordable for fans while offering fairer compensation for artists,” Assistant Attorney General Abigail Slater added in part.
Time will, of course, reveal exactly what comes of the inquiry and different components of the executive order, which also instructed the FTC to ramp up enforcement of the Better Online Ticket Sales Act (BOTS Act).
Today’s announcement underscored that the commission is “taking the lead” here. Though new charges have yet to materialize under the scalping-focused law, the FTC last month fired off a warning shot of sorts with an explainer entitled “BOTS Act compliance: Time for a refresher?”
In the bigger picture, one needn’t be a Washington insider to sense the bipartisan regulatory mood regarding crowd-based entertainment.
To name one immediate example, today’s public-comments release also reiterated that the DOJ as well as 40 state and district attorneys general are litigating against Live Nation and its Ticketmaster subsidiary over “monopolization and other unlawful conduct.”
Meanwhile, the House closed out April by overwhelmingly approving the TICKET Act (which, in a nutshell, would mandate all-in pricing for tickets), and senators from both sides of the aisle kicked off a new round of Live Nation antitrust scrutiny.
This time, the involved lawmakers (who aren’t strangers to expressing concerns about the Ticketmaster parent’s operations) are zeroing in on a Fanatics pact.

Foreigner announces a collaboration with Tilles Center for the Performing Arts to develop the world premiere production of the Foreigner musical.
Legendary rock band Foreigner has announced a new collaboration with Tilles Center for the Performing Arts and Long Island University’s Post Theatre Company to develop and stage the world premiere production of “Feels Like The First Time: The Foreigner Musical.”
Broadway luminary Adam Pascal (Rent, Aida, Cabaret, Chicago, Something Rotten) and inaugural Artist-in-Residence at Long Island University (LIU) will direct the musical and lead a creative team that includes writer Stephen Garvey and orchestrator and arranger David Abbinanti.
“Feels Like The First Time” will also feature 14 of Foreigner’s biggest hits. The musical will receive a developmental workshop and staged reading in the fall, while the fully staged world premiere production will run from April 17-26, 2026, at LIU’s Little Theatre.
“We are thrilled to partner with the next generation of theatrical talent at LIU to bring this story to life in a bold new way,” said Foreigner manager Phil Carson. “‘Feels Like The First Time: The Foreigner Musical’ is a celebration of the music that has connected generations—and this collaboration gives it a vibrant new home on the stage.”
“This musical marks the launch of our New Works Initiative—an exciting new initiative from Tilles Center and Long Island University to develop original work,” adds Tom Dunn, Executive & Artistic Director, Tilles Center, and Dean, College of Arts & Design, Long Island University. “We’re proud to kick it off with the iconic music of Foreigner. And we’re thrilled to engage our LIU theatre students and Long Island community in doing so.”
Foreigner will appear at an exclusive benefit concert in support of the production, hosted by original lead singer Lou Gramm at LIU’s 2,200-seat Tilles Center on September 5, 2025.
The evening will feature a pre-show cocktail reception for 50 special guests, including photo opportunities with the band and premium seating for the performance. Access to this VIP experience will be offered to supporters who make donations at varying levels, which may include a limited edition signed official RIAA-certified gold record plaque and/or signed electric guitar, photo opportunity with the band, a set list, and/or other benefits.
All proceeds will directly benefit the musical, as well as the LIU and Tilles Center’s New Works Initiative. As a registered charitable institution, LIU’s fundraising efforts qualify for tax-deductible donations subject to government guidelines. Additional tickets will be available to the general public starting at $25.
“As a Long Island native, it’s an honor to direct this new Foreigner musical and to serve as LIU’s first Artist-in-Residence,” said director Adam Pascal. “I grew up on these hits and am excited to collaborate on bringing this production to life.”
Foreigner founder and songwriter Mick Jones said, “When I wrote ‘Feels Like The First Time,’ I had no idea how far that song would take Foreigner. It is a personal thrill for me to know that the amazing Adam Pascal has elected to use it as the title of our new musical. I am very confident that he and the whole team will create something very special, and I look forward to seeing the completed work in 2026, the 50th anniversary year of the founding of Foreigner.”
Ticket and VIP packages for Foreigner: The Hits Unplugged will go on sale to Tilles Center Members and Foreigner Fan Club Members on Monday, May 12; to Tilles Center Subscribers on Tuesday, May 13; and to the general public on Friday, May 16. About Verknipt
Established in 2012 in the Netherlands, Verknipt has spent over a decade cultivating its reputation in the dance music industry. Initially focusing on techno and house music, Verknipt later evolved into a trailblazer in the hard techno events space. By embracing a new sound and employing an exceptional social media strategy, Verknipt swiftly ascended to the forefront of one of the industry’s fastest-growing genres.
Since 2020, Verknipt has witnessed a consistent increase in visitor numbers, reaching an impressive peak of 155.000 in 2023, with expectations of nearly doubling in 2024. The organisation has hosted numerous events in its native Netherlands and beyond, including flagship events such as Verknipt Festival and Verknipt AFAS, as well as monumental events during Amsterdam Dance Event over the years.  In July 2024, Verknipt ArenA marked the world’s largest hard techno event to date with approximately 40.000 visitors.
In alignment with its exponential growth, Verknipt is expanding its footprint internationally, venturing into countries such as Spain, Colombia, Germany, Poland, and Hungary, amongst others. Verknipt’s global impact is another testament to the movement the organisation has managed to create. In under four years, Verknipt has managed to expand across borders and even continents, reaching tens of thousands of international fans.
But, Verknipt isn’t stopping there. With the launch of Verknipt Records, the organisation aims to expand the reach of hard techno even further, filling a crucial gap in the genre’s record label landscape by offering an extensive platform for emerging artists.

Boogie T is hosting a big-time block party in Texas for the Fourth of July.
The Bayou-born dubstep artist will touch down at the Far Out Lounge in Austin on July 4, where he’ll deliver two headline sets, one under his famously wonky flagship project and one with his longtime live jam group, Boogie T.rio.
In partnership with promoters Disco Presents and Special Delivery, the July 4th “Blocka Party,” will also feature special guest performances from glitch-hop favorite Opiuo and UK dubstep torchbearer Distinct Motive, along with additional support from Austeria, Mystic Methods, Austin rockers Nether Hour, and Boogie T.rio drummer Frank “Animal Drums” Castro.
True to the band’s Southern roots, the open-air event will bring the flavors of Louisiana to Austin with a Cajun seafood boil, along with local vendors, art, and games. Check out the official announcement below.
Earlier this year, Boogie T.rio wrapped up their fourth headline appearance at Red Rocks, and are slated to perform at Electric Forest, Florida Groves, Ganja White Night’s Wobble Coliseum, and more later this summer.

The pressure on the Brooklyn Mirage grows as the public awaits for new announcements. Sadly, the Avant-Gardner venue is forced to postpone its opening weekend again. Last week, the venue did not have the necessary building permits for opening weekend. As a result, Sara Landry and City Fox Presents couldn’t have their shows.
This time around, the shows for Loud Luxury and Cloone have been rescheduled. No refunds are offered unless attendees can’t make it to the new show dates and locations. Loud Luxury’s event was moved to August 2nd. In addition, Cloone’s doubleheader will take place at the Brooklyn Storehouse May 10th.
Permits
Last weekend, the venue did not meet the requirements for the Department of Buildings of New York. This was necessary to guarantee a temporary or permanent building permit. However, the Brooklyn Mirage did not offer any explanation for this weekend’s reschedules. We can only assume that the permits are yet to be signed. This situation affected the schedule for the upcoming shows.
Brooklyn Storehouse
On a positive note, the Brooklyn Storehouse will be hosting both of Cloone’s shows. These are meant for Saturday during the day and Saturday night. This comes as no surprise, since the Storehouse hosted a couple of the Sara Landry shows that were rescheduled last weekend. Although its capacity is smaller than the Mirage’s, the venue delivers top-notch entertainment. This could furtherly develop into a bigger partnership between the Brooklyn venues, they’ve proved they could host one another’s shows on a whim when the stakes are high and the time is limited. Although the shows for last weekend were refunded for the Mirage, Sara Landry was able to fill up the Storehouse with RSVPs.
We’re still eagerly anticipating the return of the Brooklyn Mirage. As of now, we’re grateful for the venue’s consistent communication in the last few weeks. All in all, they are making the necessary adjustments to accommodate ticketholders and fans.

Liam Payne, who died last year at age 31, left nearly $32 million in money, property, and possessions without a will.
One Direction singer Liam Payne died last year in Argentina without a will, leaving over £24 million ($31.8 million) in money, property, and possessions, according to official records.
Despite this, the 31-year-old’s former partner, Girls Aloud singer Cheryl—with whom he shared an eight-year-old son named Bear—has been named as an administrator to his estate, alongside attorney Richard Mark Bray. According to the BBC, Cheryl and Bray intend to “manage the money,” but currently have limited authority and “cannot distribute it.”
As a native of the United Kingdom, Payne’s estate would be issued to his lawful spouse or the nearest blood relative if unmarried. Payne was not married to Cheryl, but as his son’s mother and legal guardian, the management of his estate naturally fell to her. The couple welcomed their son into the world in 2017, during their relationship that lasted from 2016 to 2018.
“As I try to navigate this earth-shattering event, and work through my own grief at this indescribably painful time, I’d like to kindly remind everyone that we have lost a human being,” said Cheryl following Payne’s death in October. “Liam was not only a pop star and celebrity, he was a son, a brother, an uncle, a dear friend, and a father to our seven-year-old son. A son that now has to face the reality of never seeing his father again.”
Payne died last year after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires. An Argentinian court dropped charges in February of criminal negligence against three of the five people who were charged in connection with his death.
Along with Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik, and Niall Horan, Payne toured the globe for nearly a decade as One Direction. The group sold millions of records before their split in 2016. He also branched out into a solo career after the group disbanded.

RØDE parent The Freedman Group has announced the acquisition of Lectrosonics, a U.S. based pioneer in high-end wireless audio systems.
Founded in 1971, Lectrosonics’ UHF wireless systems are used in film, broadcast, and theater applications. The company’s Digital Hybrid Wireless technology earned an Academy Award for Scientific and Technical Achievement in 2017. This move marks a significant expansion of Freedman Group’s global footprint and manufacturing capabilities, especially in the United States.
The acquisition of Lectrosonics is a major milestone for the Australian Freedman Group. The company has grown from its origins as a family business in Sydney to become a global leader in audio technology. With Lectrosonics under its umbrella, The Freedman Group gains access to the company’s portfolio of wireless audio solutions while establishing a robust manufacturing hub in the United States. The move will enhance the group’s ability to serve the North & South American markets while responding more rapidly to the needs of their professional audio customers.
“They are without doubt the world’s leader in wireless communications for entertainment and broadcast markets,” says Peter Freedman AM, Founder & Chairman of The Freedman Group. “Being able to now offer our customers the finest sounding wireless technology in the world is, without exaggeration, something that is very special to me.”
Speaking with Forbes Australia, Freedman reveals that a major driver behind the acquisition was establishing a U.S. manufacturing hub. That hub will serve Lectrosonics, RØDE, and Mackie products for the North and South American markets. Final assembly of RØDE gear will shift to New Mexico within 90 days—overcoming tariff hurdles.
“It’s a double whammy,” Freedman said of the acquisition. “We end up with a company that’s been at the highest end in that area since the 1970s, but the best part is that it allows us now to have immediate U.S. manufacturing for everything we want.”
With the Lectrosonics acquisition finalized, Freedman says the group will pause further acquisitions to focus on integration. However, Freedman did hint that he would love to see the company listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) within the next few years, estimating the group’s value at around $2 billion.

Smokey Robinson says he is ‘appalled’ over the claims he sexually assaulted multiple housekeepers, who are now suing him.
Motown legend Smokey Robinson is staunchly denying the sexual assault allegations made against him by four former housekeepers. Robinson’s attorney, Christopher Frost, released a statement on behalf of his client, calling the claims an effort to extort money from the singer.
Robinson was accused of sexual misconduct in a lawsuit filed Tuesday by four anonymous former employees. Further, his wife, Frances Gladney, is also named in the lawsuit for her alleged role in perpetuating a toxic work environment.
“As this case progresses, the evidence (the crucial element that guides us) will show that this is simply an ugly method of trying to extract money from an 85-year-old American icon—$50 million dollars, to be exact,” said Frost. “Through this process we have seen the bizarre theatrics of [Tuesday’s] news conference, as the plaintiffs’ attorneys outlined vile false allegations against Mr. and Mrs. Robinson.”
“We will also be asking the Court to address that in their statements to the press about Mr. Robinson, the plaintiff’s attorneys have reached beyond the bounds of liberties that even lawyers are typically allowed in this context,” the attorney’s statement continues. “We will have more to say on this matter, as we fiercely defend our clients against these false allegations and work to protect their good names.”
According to the plaintiffs, during their employment between 2007 and April 2024, Robinson summoned them into a bedroom multiple times, where he forced unwanted sexual contact. They claim Gladney not only had “full knowledge” of the assaults and did nothing to stop them, but allegedly scheduled weekly nail salon appointments that would ensure Robinson was “home alone” with a housekeeper. Frances Gladney is also accused of being a bully who “screamed” at the women and called them names.
In a call with The Daily Mail, Robinson said he was “appalled” about the claims against him, but the 85-year-old then began “mumbling incoherently,” and “did not sound well.” Shortly after, he “became lucid” again, and quickly ended the call by saying, “I can’t speak about this right now.”
The four plaintiffs wish to remain anonymous and are listed only as Jane Doe in the filings. One of the accusers says she was assaulted seven times, while another said she was raped “without a condom” at least 23 times.
The lawsuit comes on the heels of Robinson’s latest album, What the World Needs Now, which was released last month.

Universal Music Group has motioned to dismiss Drake’s amended defamation lawsuit. The label calls the action ‘legal blather’ and insists the nature of rap battles would forever be changed should the lawsuit proceed.
UMG says Drake’s claims in the amended complaint are “astonishing” and that Drake’s lawsuit is an attack on the commercial and creative success of the artist who defeated him in a rap battle, “rather than the content of Lamar’s lyrics.” Drake argues that the company promoted, published, exploited, and monetized allegations that were false and dangerous.
“UMG did so not because it believes any of these false claims to be true, but instead because it would profit from damaging Drake’s reputation,” the complaint reads. UMG’s motion to dismiss directly addresses this claim, stating: “Drake was pleased to use UMG’s platform to promote tracks leveling similarly incendiary attacks at Lamar, including that Lamar engaged in domestic abuse and that one of Lamar’s managers is the true father of Lamar’s son.”
UMG says Drake only took issue with the content of the lyrics after he lost the famous rap battle. Speaking on the history of rap battles, UMG writes “Like all of the recordings in the feud, and like the many notorious diss tracks throughout rap’s history, ‘Not Like Us’ consists of a series of hyperbolic insults. But now, after losing the rap battle, Drake claims that ‘Not Like Us’ is defamatory. It is not. While the complaint focuses almost entirely on ‘Not Like Us,’ it disregards the other diss tracks that surrounded ‘Not Like Us’ as well as the diss track genre, and thus, critically ignores the context of the dispute.”
“Assessed in context, as it must be, ‘Not Like Us’ conveys non-actionable opinion and rhetorical hyperbole. Indeed, diss tracks are a popular and celebrated art form centered around outrageous insults, and they would be chilled if Drake’s suit were permitted to proceed.”
UMG argues that “nowhere in the 100+ page ‘legal blather’ written by Drake’s lawyers do they bother to acknowledge that Drake himself has written and performed massively successful songs containing equally provocative taunts against other artists.” UMG alleges that Drake’s legal team is looking for evidence of “wild conspiracies as to why one song that upset Drake had massive global appeal.”
“Despite his lawyer’s attempts to silence other artists and threaten the companies that work with them, we remain committed to propelling Drake’s career while maintaining our unwavering support of all our artists’ creative expression—Drake’s included.”

Warner Music Group has reported a revenue dip for Q1 2025, when recorded subscription streaming revenue grew modestly and its ad-supported counterpart fell 5% YoY. Photo Credit: WMG
Warner Music Group (WMG) has reported another quarterly revenue slip – this time for 2025’s opening three months, when the major label suffered a “market share loss in China.”
WMG posted its financials for 2025’s first quarter (the fiscal second quarter) this morning, pointing to about $1.48 billion in overall revenue. That represents a small decrease from the same period in 2024 and reflects dips in several categories.
To be sure, U.S. recorded revenue ($497 million, down 2% YoY in constant currency), stateside publishing revenue ($161 million, down 5% YoY), and international recorded revenue ($678 million, down slightly YoY) all fell during Q1 2025, Warner Music relayed.
International publishing revenue rode a double-digit YoY boost to hit $149 million, however, and physical sales grew almost 1% YoY to $112 million amid bumps in the U.S. and Japan.
Meanwhile, the Tempo Music owner acknowledged a minor decline in recorded digital revenue to $841 million for 2025’s opening quarter. Behind this development, recorded streaming subscription revenue ($622 million) is said to have improved by 1.1% YoY, though its ad-supported counterpart ($203 million) decreased by almost 5%.
More interesting than the slips themselves is the company’s explanation for the wider trend.
During the corresponding earnings call, execs cited a lighter Q1 2025 release schedule, difficult YoY comparisons, a soft ad market, presumably advantageous DSP renewals that are still kicking in, and the aforementioned “market share loss in China.”
For reference, China’s on-demand market leader, Tencent Music, is still reporting solid growth in the core streaming category. And Universal Music previously indicated that it’d achieved double-digit subscription revenue growth in China during 2025’s first quarter.
In any event, execs opted against diving into Warner Music’s exact commercial woes in China. But CEO Robert Kyncl said he anticipates the trend will “continue for the balance of the year.” Even so, the former YouTube exec also touched on the potential for better results under a head of Asia who’s set to come aboard in about two months.
Elsewhere in the Q1 2025 report, Warner Music confirmed $36 million in net income (down from $96 million) and shed light on the exit package of former CFO Bryan Castellani.
Remaining on in an advisory capacity until September’s end, Castellani is expected to receive his base compensation, a $1.65 million severance payment (via weekly installments), a once-off $40,000 payment, an “annual target bonus” (amount to be determined), and $1 million in restricted stock units, Warner Music communicated.
These and previous stock awards will vest so long as the exec complies with a collection of “non-competition and non-solicitation covenants,” according to the text.
At the time of writing – despite wider market trends that pushed Spotify stock to a record high of $663 per share – Warner Music stock (NASDAQ: WMG) was down 7.2% at $27.92 per share.

ILLENIUM and HAYLA have set the release date for their debut collaboration “In My Arms.”
The bass music superstar and powerhouse dance singer-songwriter announced on social media today that the joint single will arrive next Friday, May 16. The release marks an all-star link-up between two artists known for their respectively extraordinary melodic contributions to dance music, such as ILLENIUM’s genre anthems “Good Things Fall Apart” and “Crawl Outta Love,” and HAYLA’s songwriting and vocal performances on John Summit’s “Where You Are” and “Shiver.”
“Back to making electronic vibes babyyyyy,” ILLENIUM wrote on Instagram today. “We’re so happy with how this track turned out—raw emotion from start to finish. Hope u all lovvveee it.”
The release follows ILLENIUM’s 2014 remix of Oh Wonder’s “Shark,” pulled from the vault in November, marking the Colorado-based artist’s first original release of 2025. ILLENIUM also notably released the intro and finale audio from his “Self Titled” Tour in January.
“In My Arms” now appears to mark a new musical horizon for the producer and DJ, aka Nick Miller, who yesterday announced a new record deal with Republic and teased a forthcoming mystery project in conversation with Billboard. Though he didn’t outline whether it’s an album, ILLENIUM shared that other new music on the way includes a drum & bass track with Kid Cudi, and collaborations with Ryan Tedder, Amy Allen, and Lostboy.
After the charting success of her dance hits in 2023, HAYLA released her debut solo album, DUSK, in November 2024, showcasing her signature melodies across 10 sonically varied dance tracks, such as “Fall Again,” “Treading Water,” and “Embers.”

James Hype took an unconventional route to Harvard. He shared his journey from spinning records in clubs to inspiring the brightest minds at the world’s top institution. In an intimate and eye-opening masterclass, James discussed his creative process, his rise to fame, and the challenges of navigating the music industry. James had this to say:
James reflected on his breakout moment in 2017 when his music earned him global acclaim and a contract with Warner Music. While the milestones were life-changing, he emphasized the sacrifices behind the scenes: over 160 performances a year, sleepless nights, budget flights, and the relentless pressure to keep up. “Mental health matters,” he shared, shedding light on the often-unseen struggles of a career in the spotlight.
A highlight of the discussion was James’s advice on creativity. He emphasized the importance of finding an authentic sound and leveraging social media to connect with global audiences. “The more visible you are, the more criticism comes,” he noted. “But the key is to amplify your voice, not to respond to every comment.”
James expressed admiration for the students he met at Harvard, confessing, “I thought Harvard was only for rich and smart people, but what I saw were exceptional people. Their stories inspired me as much as mine inspired them.”
During the session, he took students back to his first encounter with music, discovering a mixer at a church fair at just nine years old. That moment sparked a lifelong passion that carried him through creative blocks, stylistic evolution, and his ongoing pursuit of authenticity.
It is a great discussion that I highly recommend watching below!

John Summit is set to headline Folsom Field, the storied stadium nestled in the heart of the University of Colorado campus, for the largest headline show of his career thus far, according to a press release shared with EDM.com.
Summit, whose hits "Where You Are" and "Go Back" have become global dancefloor anthems, is no stranger to commanding iconic venues, having recently sold out Madison Square Garden and Red Rocks Amphitheatre. The dance music superstar is now set to take over Folsom Field for the high-profile concert, organized by AEG Presents Rocky Mountains in collaboration with CU Boulder.
Famed for hosting acts like The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney and Phish, the 50,000-plus-capacity venue in Boulder will provide a dramatic Rocky Mountain backdrop for what has the feel of a watershed moment for Colorado's EDM scene. It's beloved for its dubstep and bass music community, but Summit will bring his anthemic house sound for a night of electrifying contrast that could signal a bold new chapter.
The show is scheduled for October 18th, 2025. It follows the success of Summit's recent two-day event in nearby Vail hosted by his Experts Only brand, which was recently named 2024's best record label in EDM.com's list of the year's top industry leaders.
Fans can now register for a pre-sale, which is scheduled to begin Tuesday, May 13th at 10am MT. The general on-sale will begin Thursday, May 15th at the same time.

Out today via HypnoVizion is the latest single from Canadian producer Rezz in collaboration with elusive duo Chuurch, entitled ‘Telepathy.’
Recently rinsed during Rezz’s sold-out debut PORTAL show in the Bay Area, ‘Telepathy’ is another fan-favorite and hit from the archives. First created nine years ago and only heard as a live ID, ‘Telepathy’ embodies the kinetic energy of the dancefloor. Tension swells with ominous vocal samples as the track unfolds with eerie synths and grimy basslines locked in a wayward call and response. Fueled by nearly a decade of honing their distinctive signature sounds, ‘Telepathy’ is a crystallization of Rezz and Chuurch’s evolved creative instincts and unwavering sonic experimentation.
‘Telepathy’ is the latest track to be released from Rezz’s highly coveted vault following last month’s ‘Contorted.’ Rezz is currently gearing up for her annual takeover at The Brooklyn Mirage later this month. The second edition of Rezz’s new audio-visual show PORTAL will take place at Washington’s Tacoma Dome in September with REZZ ROCKS VII returning to Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre in October.
Chuurch is the mysterious duo of Jeff Wilson and Justin MacLean. Since emerging in 2016, they’ve carved a lane in the underground bass scene with their signature ‘lean bass’ style and landed them on labels like Nest HQ and Deadbeats. Amidst their catalog of bold and eclectic originals are official remixes for Zeds Dead & Illenium, Apashe, and ATLiens. Their sound and selective live appearances have catapulted Chuurch forward, building a strong fan base who call themselves The UUnion. ‘Telepathy’ serves as Chuurch’s first appearance on HypnoVizion and marks the duo’s first release in two years.
Stream ‘Telepathy’ across all platforms now and grab tickets to PORTAL here.

Brooklyn Mirage's planned reopening has been indefinitely postponed due to pending inspection approvals, affecting a series of upcoming shows, Billboard reports.
Originally set to return with a pair of performances by Sara Landry May 2-3, the New York venue was unable to open after failing to secure the necessary permits from building inspectors following recent renovations.
According to a public statement from the venue's operators, Avant Gardner, the revamped Brooklyn Mirage is fully constructed and adheres to updated safety and technical specifications, but final compliance was not achieved in time for inspection deadlines.
"We want to be clear: the venue is show ready and the New Mirage has been built to exacting safety, structural, mechanical and technical specifications," Mirage officials wrote on Instagram. "However, we were not able to meet the final inspection deadline."
More schedule changes have followed as a result. The May 9th show featuring Loud Luxury has been postponed to August 2nd and tickets purchased through DICE will automatically transfer to the new date, with refunds available via their website.
Meanwhile, Cloonee’s May 10th day and night performances will be relocated to the Brooklyn Storehouse. Tickets originally purchased for Mirage will be valid at the new venue, with no additional action required by attendees.
The ongoing delays stem from a broader renovation project that included structural upgrades, a redesigned stage, additional dancefloors and enhancements to sound and lighting systems. The venue now includes over 3,000 LED panels, a 90-foot stage and one of the largest prefabricated timber structures of its kind, according to Avant Gardner CEO Josh Wyatt.
"I can tell you that when you walk into Brooklyn Mirage for the first time, you're going to see a set design that will blow you away," Wyatt told EDM.com in a recent interview. "Then when you come back two weeks or two months later, it's going to look totally different. The type of technology that we're designing to be able to allow us to do that is bespoke and has never been done before—I think it’s pretty mind-blowing."
However, Brooklyn Mirage remains closed until further notice. According to a statement from Avant Gardner, the team is "working closely with city officials" and will continue to provide updates.

This means that users of those controllers won’t need to create custom MIDI maps to get the most out of NKS software; it’s all pre-mapped and ready to go as soon as you hook up the controller.
“Arturia is committed to designing universal MIDI controllers, built to inspire creativity without limits,” says Martin Dutasta, Director of Product at Arturia. “We’re thrilled to partner with Native Instruments on NKS integration. This initiative brings greater connectivity and a more fluid workflow, benefiting creators who rely on both ecosystems.”
“This reinforces our commitment to an open and connected music industry,” continues Simon Cross, Chief Product Officer at Native Instruments. “We’re giving musicians the freedom to explore sound without workflow limitations.”
To celebrate this burgeoning relationship, new purchasers of the three Arturia controllers listed in the partnership will receive a free copy of Komplete 15 Select. Regularly, the suite of virtual instruments and production bundles is valued at $99/€99.
This partnership is part of the ongoing series of integrations stemming from the NKS Hardware Partner Program. NI first announced the program at NAMM 2025, and now Arturia joins Akai Professional, Korg, Novation, Nektar, and M-Audio in the ability to implement NI software.
Both NI and Arturia will have displays at Superbooth 2025, taking place May 8-10 at FEZ in Berlin. Head to Arturia at booth W200 or NI at booth H130 see how NKS is works in Arturia hardware.

Bass music duo EAZYBAKED took their name literally this week, blending nostalgia, art and community engagement through a series of Easy-Bake Ovens.
It started when fans discovered a series of GPS coordinates posted to the duo’s social media. Each pin led to a familiar Denver location that holds meaning in EAZYBAKED’s performance history, including Red Rocks Amphitheatre, Cervantes and The Black Box.
However, what fans found when they arrived at each location was anything but expected: customized Easy-Bake Ovens containing recipe cards with clues.
