Griz & Zeds Dead Announce NYE Show With Clozee & Jantsen [DETAILS]

You might want to plan on heading to the south for New Year’s, because Griz and Zeds Dead are reviving their B2B from Goldrush earlier this year for a massive event called ‘Zero Gravity.’
The lineup, of course, includes Griz and Zeds Dead, playing individual sets as well as another b2b set. Support will come from CloZee and Jantsen, another two of the more forward-thinking bass artists in the scene right now, making this one unforgettable night.

Two Friends Exceed Expectations With 20th Volume Of Big Bootie Mix

For more than six years, Two Friends have been gracing the world with their Big Bootie Mixes, putting together an assortment of songs that seem impossible to mix and the amount of which seems staggering to even the most seasoned DJs. (Of course, putting it together on Ableton Live helps.)
Now, the duo are here again with the 20th installment of the mix, putting together a group of over 100 songs in an hour, from electronic to pop to hip hop, and everything flows seamlessly. Just listen to how they mix in “My Shiny Teeth and Me” at 6:39… yes, that one. Or mixing “Inside Of You” from ‘Forgetting Sarah Marshall’ into “Industry Baby” by Lil Nas X and Jack Harlow. Just, perfection.

Ultra Drops Phase 1 Lineup for 2022 with Illenium, Martin Garrix, Alison Wonderland, DJ Snake, & More

It will have been three years, two events, since the last Ultra Music Festival in Miami.
Ultra was one of, if not the first festival to be hit with a cancellation due to COVID-19. And, being so early in the year, it had no chance of coming back in March 2021 when the vaccine was only just beginning to roll out and safety around coronavirus was still dubious at best. Now, as we look to 2022, the Miami music festival is plotting its grand return and bringing back all the top-tier acts from which it has built a reputation.
The phase 1 lineup was announced this morning, with names like Pendulum, Illenium, Martin Garrix, Alison Wonderland, DJ Snake, Madeon, SVDDEN DEATH presents VOYD, Zeds Dead, and more.
Honestly, it’s a lot more bass music for an Ultra phase 1 reveal than we’re used to, but the variety is there with Carl Cox, Boris Brejcha, Nina Kraviz, Nicky Romero, Kygo, Oliver Tree, Sofi Tukker, and Tale Of Us also getting announced.
As for tickets for 2022, the situation is a bit unclear. Back in April of this year, the festival was sued for withholding ticket refunds. The lawsuit filed in the Eleventh Judicial Circuit in Miami-Dade County stated:
Ultra engaged in unconscionable, unfair, and/or deceptive trade practices by advertising, offering, and promoting the festival, taking individuals’ money to attend said advertised festival, cancelling the festival, and then failing to provide ticket purchasers with the option of receiving a refund, effectively shifting all risk and costs of Ultra’s decision to cancel the Event to the consumers.
Whether these tickets are still in the buyers possession, or if those buyers will even want to attend 2022 and open those tickets up to the secondary market, or if the festival will release more tickets — these are all questions that at this time remain unanswered.

Seven Lions Debuts New Collaboration With REZZ On EDC Main Stage

You’ve probably been hearing it all through the pandemic, that producers weren’t releasing their best works until touring and live events resumed. Despite many albums and impressive projects being dropped during the pandemic, overall, that probably remains true. There’s still so many sets to go through from EDC that we’ll likely be finding IDs for weeks, but one has already surfaced — Seven Lions & Rezz.
As Seven Lions took to the main stage on Friday, he dropped this amazing track (below). The clear influences from Rezz mixed with Seven Lions’ own melodic-infused bass music makes for a wonderful track that will surely see the light of day soon.

EDC 2021 is officially over, and that’s a sad day for hundreds of thousands of ravers who descended upon the Las Vegas Motor Speedway over the past three days. Sonny Fodera Delivers Highly-Anticipated ‘Wide Awake’ Album via Solotoko [LISTEN]

Australian producer and DJ Sonny Fodera delivers 14 fresh and sonically diverse tracks with Wide Awake via his Solotoko imprint. The album is his first full-length offering since his 2019 album Rise. 
The album includes singles “Angel,” “You,” and “Last Thought,” and “Turn Back Time,” the successful collaboration with Diplo that has been grazing dance floors since its 2020 release. Sonny Fodera also incorporates a range of recognized vocalists including Laura Welsh, Raphaella, Ella Eyre and more.
The album kicks off with the melodious “You” featuring Sam Tompkins. From there, Sonny Fodera manages to keep each track fresh, offering everything from the tech house favorite “Turn Back Time,” to piano-driven anthems like “Wired” and “So High,” to break beats in “Next 2 U.”
The common thread throughout the album is the infectious four-on-the-floor beats that earned Sonny Fodera his name and landed him a sold-out UK tour and rising notoriety in the United States. With Wide Awake, he has positioned himself as a talented collaborator who is popularizing the house genre.

Lil Nas X Makes Surprise Appearance at EDC During Diplo’s Set on cosmicMEADOW

EDC Night 2 is wrapped, and there will be plenty to talk about once the weekend is through. But last night during Diplo’s set at cosmicMEADOW, the festival welcomed one of its biggest guests so far — Lil Nas X.
It’s not at all uncommon for DJs to bring out other DJ special guests at festivals. What makes events like EDC or Ultra so special are the guests that end up coming from elsewhere, whether it’s Drake, The Kid Laroi, or in this case Lil Nas X.
The young dynamo came out to perform his hit “Industry Baby” during Diplo’s set and it’s clear the crowd was absolutely eating it up.

The Chainsmokers Tease First New Song Since 2019 At EDC

It’s been over two years since we’ve last heard new music from The Chainsmokers, their 2019 album World War Joy. The group has been on a social media hiatus since February 2020, ironically just a month before the official global pandemic was declared. They still popped up every now and then during the pandemic, but on the public-facing front, they’ve been quiet.
Yesterday, they performed on the main stage at EDC, however, and shared some new music with the crowd.
“EDC! This is a brand new Chainsmokers record right here, let’s go!” they shouted over the mic.
The new song is noticeably more house than their previous releases, signaling a possible return to “EDM” over the pop they were putting out on their past two albums. Still, they’ve been known to genre-switch quite a bit so any other releases are still to be evaluated.

New Artist Spotlight: Mother Ghost Release Debut Album in the Face of Tragedy [Geodesic Records] [Video]

It’s fun in 2021 to see the spirit and sounds of post punk wending their way into modern electronica and, in addition to their name having a sort of “Spooky Mother Goose” vibe, Mother Ghost is definitely channeling the likes of Ian Curtis and Bauhaus into their debut album, Somnámbulo. With industrial-style synths, experimental composition styles and political, evocative vocals, the album, released last month, deigns to take post punk into the 21st century. But it almost didn’t happen.
While sifting through some already heavy material such as the viscerally-titled, Trump-inspired song “Hiding in a Dumpster Waiting for ICE Agents to Leave” and the emotionally-charged “Le Petite Mort,” tragedy struck the project when James Vehslage, the producer who was working on Somnámbulo with Oscar and Thomas Flores, unexpectedly died.
The duo thought the Vehslage mixes were all but lost and resigned themselves to not release the album, but family members of James managed to get the music back to the brothers and urged them to finish it. They reached out to Geodesic Records and their producer aCr to help finish and master the album and now, after personal tragedy and COVID, Somnámbulo is out and it seems it was well worth the wait.
Don’t get us wrong: Somnámbulo is not an easy listen. It wasn’t designed to be. Even without all the Trump/COVID/personal turmoil the Flores boys have been through in the past five years or so, this album is meant to challenge listeners both sonically and emotionally. The politically almost too heavy tracks like the afore-mentioned “Hiding In a Dumpster…,” “Avarice, “Raices” and “Criminal” would, based on the music, be just as intense without the loud, often screamed vocals. Complex polyrhythms in the drums, relentless, Tom Morello-style guitars and punishing, industrial-style synths make these tracks absolute jaw-clenchers, but that’s the point. The chaos in the tracks mirrors the chaos of the Latino experience during those years. It’s meant to he conflicted, and the duo more than pull it off.
The more melodic tracks on Somnámbulo, like the title track, “Ungrateful” and “White God” also require a lot of attention from the listener, but in a different way. The tones and harmonies, all of a haunting and minor-keyed timbre, sort of pang at the heart in a way that’s not unpleasant but would never be categorized as “feel-good.” This is typical of post punk but really not since the 80s and early 90s has the genre seen this sort of blunt force heart punch as an emotive tactic. It’s heavy, strange and beautiful and it’s long overdue in modern electronica.
The story of Somnámbulo would have been a sad one if Mother Ghost had decided not to finally release it, but now it’s a tribute. Already a complex and poignant watchword of the times in which it was being made, it’s now a way to carry on James Vehslage’s work and legacy. This emotive think piece of an album helps ensure that while Bela Lugosi may be dead, post punk certainly isn’t.

Those already in Vegas will be able to witness hundreds of artists perform, but those at home can still watch the largest festival live stream in its history, for the first-time ever streaming all eight festival stages across multiple platforms including YouTube, Twitch, TikTok, Lomotif and Roblox.
More than 75 cameras will transport viewers at home directly into the heart of EDC Las Vegas to join in on the festival’s 25th anniversary celebration. Beyond the unforgettable live sets from the world’s top dance music artists, curated channels will feature special moments and cultural clips from EDC over the last 25 years. , has been a staple in his set for the past few years. With the wrench that covid threw into the music world, the release had to be delayed substantially as the two producers originally made it back in 2018. DJ Snake Releases Latest Mega-Collab With Ozuna, Megan Thee Stallion, & LISA of BLACKPINK, “SG”

DJ Snake has become a paragon of mega-collabs, beginning with “Taki Taki” in 2018, teaming up with Cardi B, Ozuna, and Selena Gomez. Next up was “Loco Contigo” in 2019, reviving his single with J. Balvin and Tyga and adding on Ozuna, again, and Nicky Jam, Natti Natasha, Darell, and Sech.
Now in 2021, he’s back with Ozuna, again again, as well as Megan The Stallion and LISA of BLACKPINK for “SG.”
The song is another Hispanic-influenced melody which fits well with Ozuna, as Megan and LISA both inject their own unique vocal stylings on top of the laid back and groovy rhythm. It already has 400,000 streams on Spotify before it’s even been out for a full 24 hours, so this one could be headed for another billion plays as “Taki Taki” did.

Illenium Recharges ‘Fallen Embers’ Album With Deluxe Version & Five New Songs [LISTEN]

Just a few months since the release of Illenium’s fourth studio album, Fallen Embers, he’s back with the Deluxe version, featuring five new songs including a remix with Virtual Riot for “Blame Myself” and a new collaboration with Said The Sky, “I See You.”
Among the new tracks is “Wouldn’t Change A Thing” featuring Thirty Seconds To Mars – which marked the first new music from Thirty Seconds To Mars in three years. The song has already garnered over 1 million streams and counting since its release last Friday. Also included is “Superhero” with William Black and Alna, Illenium’s first-released drum & bass track.

D Malik Makes Epic Debut With “Prince”

D Malik is one of dance music’s newest faces, and with his debut release, he’s proving he’s here to stay. Teaming up with vocalist Michael Lanza, D Malik makes his massive debut with “Prince.” Out now on all platforms, “Prince” sits at the intersection of stadium rock and festival dance sound.
The Dubai-raised, Los Angeles-based producer brings a unique perspective to his music, drawing inspiration from a multitude of genres from rock to electronic to rap. Inspired by the likes of The Weeknd, Daft Punk, and more creative megaheads, D Malik is the amalgamation of the best of modern day music.
Speaking on his debut single in a press release, D Malik explains: “‘Prince’ is the nucleus – the start of this journey, in every way imaginable. It’s a piece I’ve been working on for almost two years, first created at my studio in Los Angeles and then taken around the world, from London to my hometown of Dubai. Swedish House Mafia Announce First US Tour In 10 Years, Release New Single With The Weeknd

Swedish House Mafia have teamed with iconic superstar The Weeknd for a new single and video “Moth to a Flame.” The new song, initially teased during the trio’s landmark performance at the MTV VMAs pre-show, marks the band’s first new music since announcing their reunion this past July with a pair of new singles “It Gets Better” and “Lifetime (feat. Ty Dolla $ign & 070 Shake).”
“We found out he was a big fan of us,” Steve Angello told Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1. “And then obviously, Sal, who manages both of us put us together. And then it was just super organic. We just hung out and had a really late night in LA and hit the studio. And then we spent a couple days together just having fun and listening to music and talking about ideas and visuals and or whatever it was. When you vibe with somebody and you appreciate their art, I think you just connect. It’s like a friendship. It’s that kind of connection.”
Sebastian Ingrosso continued, “[…] he has a very unique voice that really sounds good on its own. We really had to keep the music back. We have to really make space for his voice. I think that was the key that we early on understood. Yeah. If this is going to work, we need to really keep it stripped and focus on Abel’s voice. And then we can do our thing.”
The trio of songs continue to build anticipation toward the band’s forthcoming full length Paradise Again, slated for release early next year with a Special Tour Edition CD pre-order available now that unlocks exclusive pre-sale tour tickets.
In conjunction with the new single, Swedish House Mafia have announced an international tour for 2022 produced by Live Nation, their first proper run that includes US dates since 2012. Long revered by fans for their bombastic live performances, the band’s previous outing, “One Last Tour,” sold over 1,000,000 tickets. The 2022 jaunt will follow the trio’s just announced performance at Coachella 2022 and includes arenas across the United States and Europe – full dates below.

San Pacho Debuts EP Under Matroda’s Label Terminal Underground ‘Mandala’ EP

San Pacho is making some serious steps in a positive, growing direction. Signed to Matroda’s label Terminal Underground, San Pacho debuts his first EP of 2021 Mandala EP, which follows up High EP that was released in 2020.
Composed of 3 tracks, Mandala EP bestows a ton of house love all in one fulfilling experience. After teasing “The Pressure,” which continues to jump up in stream count and support, “Set Me Free,” and “What Ya,” lets out the full spectrum of what this EP is all about.

The title of each track properly hints at what will unfold within, “The Pressure,” building up a peculiar array of momentum that climaxes as the EP segues into “Set Me Free.” “What Ya,” take a bit of the theatrics from both previous singles to give a mix of something tantalizing, ending the EP on a high note.
Mandala EP gives a more complete impression of who San Pacho is and what his contribution to house more embodies. The DJ/producer is far from his first release and keeps busy. He’s released six singles this year, excluding the teaser track off of this EP, with one of those high-octane productions being a collaboration with Matroda titled “La Pasion.”

Electric Daisy Carnival Becomes First Music Festival in the Roblox Metaverse

It’s been a persistent, long road for the intersection between music and video games. A little over two decades ago we had the soundtrack from Tony Hawk Pro Skater, soon games like Forza and Need For Speed incorporated soundtracks, then FIFA and NBA 2k, even producers like Noisia were creating scores for games like Devil May Cry. In the past couple of years, we’ve seen that relationship blossom with in-game performances in Fortnite and entirely unique bands created in League of Legends. Festivals in Minecraft, partnerships with Rocket League… the list goes on.
The newest addition to the cross-section of dance music, specifically, and gaming comes via Insomniac and Roblox with the introduction of World Party, the first music festival to be held on Roblox.
As more than 500,000 attendees gather Under the Electric Sky at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway this weekend, fans can join the festival in the metaverse October 23 – October 25, with a virtual pre-show event airing October 22. The World Party space is open now.
“To partner and create with a metaverse leader like Roblox is an exciting opportunity for Insomniac. Bringing people from all over the world together through art and experience is a goal we’re always working hard to achieve, and together with Roblox we are able to expand this into the digital world.” says Pasquale Rotella, Founder and CEO of Insomniac. “This experience takes the creativity and inspiration behind EDC and all other festivals and events to new heights. Bringing our vision to life digitally and opening up the wonder and magic of EDC to anyone of any age, no matter where they are. As we say at EDC, ‘All Are Welcome Here’.”
In partnership with Wonder Works Studio, creators of the top experience Overlook Bay, EDC on Roblox will feature five ‘party all-night tents’ inspired by this year’s festival theme with over 50 artists — including Kaskade, Zedd, Alison Wonderland, Louis the Child, Slander b2b2 said the sky, Rezz, Loud Luxury, DJ Snake, Alan Walker, Phantoms, Wax Motif, Oliver Heldens, and Benny Benassi — streaming their performances across virtual stages. Over 25 unique accessories can be acquired using custom virtual Kandi to equip and express individual style, and just joining the World Party enters attendees to win real and virtual merchandise. The space will feature mini-games that allow fans to race through the vast world, collect cuddly animals, dance battle against friends, and build their home in Camp EDC — the festival campsite.

Full festival details and information on how to sign up for a free Roblox account to enter EDC in World Party can be found here. Roblox users can attend any of the over 50 performances throughout the weekend.
Performances will begin on Roblox starting at 4:00 pm PT on October 22 in a limited pre-show, with the majority of EDC sets to begin broadcasting the following day. The artists themselves will also jump into the metaverse through server hopping and meet and greets inside the World Party experience throughout the festival.

Kavinsky Reveals First Single In Eight Years, From Forthcoming Album

Over a decade ago, Kavinsky became a prominent name in dance music with the release of “Nightcall.” Hardly anyone could have predicted the longevity or popularity of the track, or that it would receive remixes from Breakbot and Robotaki, and a placement in the movie ‘Drive.’ It was first released on its own album Nightcall, along with “Pacific Coast Highway” and a host of remixes, and then again in 2013 on his debut album, OutRun.
Since then, Kavinsky hasn’t released a thing.
Now, the French DJ is finally gearing up to release his next album, Reborn, and the first single is imminent. “Renegade” will officially release in less than a month, on November 19.
Seeing as this is the first new song from Kavinsky in nearly a decade, it’s hard to tell what sort of sound he’ll employ. But no matter what, there is tangible excitement for the release. Stay tuned for any previews or snippets from the track and check back in a month to hear the full new song.

RÜFÜS DU SOL deliver fourth studio album, ‘Surrender’

The next chapter in the storied history of RÜFÜS DU SOL is here as the trio release their fourth studio album, Surrender.
Surrender isn’t a whole lot of innovation for the group, bringing back familiar motifs and melodies to each of their songs. It is, however, an incredible display of growth as each track has a noticeable sheen that was not as prevalent on previous works. Part of that could be due to RÜFÜS experimenting with collaboration for the first time, welcoming Curtis Harding to the fold on the album’s title track as well as an LA based children’s choir on both the title track and “Make It Happen.”
It is this depth of field that results in something that feels more human and heartfelt than ever before.
The album arrives in the run up to a whirlwind touring and festival season for the band, which has already seen them perform parts of the new project on world renowned stages such as Red Rocks Amphitheatre, Austin City Limits, and Governors Ball. With festival stints at III Points Miami and Outside Lands San Francisco still to come, Surrender gives RÜFÜS DU SOL fans a unique opportunity to accompany them into their world.
“Surrender is a message of personal maturity and of a deep connection to their community, as RÜFÜS DU SOL find themselves comfortably expressing their personal pains and heartaches for all to bear witness,” reads a description of the album.

Sullivan King & Wife Madeleine Announce They’re Expecting Their First Child

Sullivan King, real name Keaton Prescott, and Madeleine Prescott married in February of 2017. The two have become quite the power couple, and could regularly been seen together on tour and at festivals like Lost Lands. Now, the two have announced they are expecting their first child next April.
“I really don’t even know how to explain the magnitude of happiness and joy we feel right now…,” Sullivan King writes. “My wife madeleine and I are so incredibly excited to welcome our first baby into this world next April!!”

Alix Perez & EPROM Release New Shades EP, “The Dance Of Death”

The alluring duo of Alix Perez and EPROM as Shades receives its 5th EP release, The Dance Of Death, today.
Four tracks paint the picture through the project, featuring a heavy concoction of innovative bass sounds. The EP opens with “The Corruption,” the project’s only single. Here listeners are introduced to the heavy atmosphere and haunting modulation of The Dance of Death. “The Creation” follows the same eerie soundscape narrative, allowing staticky, glitched out synths to ring in and out of reverberation. The backend of the track billows in volume, lending to a soundtrack like creation from the producers.
“Eternal Rain Descending” launches itself with a foreboding intro, which presents a chopped vocal loop through the madness of sound. This carries listeners to the first drop, and likewise an explosion of atomized sounds and samples. The EP wraps up with “The Last Judgement,” which enraptured listeners in a looped build before delivering a grunge, industrial drop to make for an ‘Instant Rewind” for listeners.

Your EDM Premiere: Viper Snaps up Two New Dancefloor Classics from AL/SO and Synth System

Monstercat, Audioporn, Korsakov Music and Mainframe Recordings darling High Maintenance has been quiet lately, with his last original work out in May of 2020, the dancefloor collab EP, also with AL/SO (love that pun), Hypersonic. Now we know why: the cheeky chap from Brighton has only gone and rebranded as Synth System, quietly releasing his first remix of Sub Focus’s “Last Jungle” on RAM in August.
While the newly minted Synth System has been retooling on the DL, however, Korsakov Music’s A&R guru AL/SO has been as loud as ever, having released his first solo EP, the mad and fast metal-inspired Toaster Bath in August as well and touring all over the slowly re-opening EU during the summer and even landing in the UK in September (as if that poor island hasn’t suffered enough already).
The UK is where the two dancefloor heavy hitters finished up their new collab tracks, “City Lights” featuring vocalist Eidna and “Extra” and signed them to Viper. It’s easy to see why Matrix & Futurebound’s imprint wanted the melodic festie anthem that is “City Lights”: with the punch of Synth System’s synthy synths, a fireworks display of a snare and a composition structure that somehow straddles classical and pop, there will be no escaping this track on the dancefloor this fall and winter. Why would you want to? The haunting, strained melody is the perfect emotive punchback to where the music world has been in the past year and the explosive drops promise all the places we’ve still yet to go.
The wild card on this dual single and our chosen premiere today is the b side “Extra.” Once again heavy on the synths, this track, while still concise and made for dancing, has a lot of complex sound design that the tech heads will love. Right away in the intro, the opening synths have a fun and none-too-easy-to-craft 80s throwback vaporwave sound to them. You can practically feel the 80s tween movie opening credits rolling. The drop is introduced by a sassy, singular female vox sample – perhaps even a Kardashian (perish the thought) – saying “why are you being so extra” before the track drops into its more ravey and cinematic territory, with the downbeats hitting just right and the synth capable of pulling even the grumpiest wallflower off of said wall to the dancefloor.

Viper Recordings · Synth System & AL/SO – Extra [YourEDM Premiere] This is both AL/SO and Synth System’s first release on Viper, on first listen, nay, on first phrase, it’s clear they don’t belong anywhere else. The clean lines of “Extra” and the heart-rending vibes of “City Lights” will keep the vibes going through the colder seasons as they’ll be overplayed at ever rave well into spring.
