Few artists can trend on Twitter for simply announcing a single show, but that’s what Skrillex did last week before his grand return to New York City at Avant Gardner, his first set in the state in four years.
It’s been a long four years for Skrillex fans, bombarded with promises (or, rather, rumors) of an album, year after year after year. Not to mention plenty of releases that spanned various genres, many of them outside what was considered the artist’s “typical” style.
Nonetheless, it’s widely known that his live sets still go absolutely off, and that seems to be the consensus about last week’s show at Avant Gardner. BMR vlogs on YouTube was there and captured the full, incredible set, now available for you to rewatch if you were there, or watch for the first time if you weren’t able to make it.
Check it out below and head to 1001tracklists here to see the full tracklist.

From playing sold out shows at some of the country’s most popular nightclubs with artists like Drake, Rae Sremmurd and Wiz Khalifa to playing star studded celebrity birthday parties for the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio & Toby Mcguire to shutting down festival stages, Apollo XO has quickly became a premier Open-Format Dj. His talent is undeniable and he currently plays upwards of 200+ sets a year and holds residencies at Studio Paris (Chicago), Underground Nightclub (Chicago), FWD (Cleveland) and Blind Dragon (Chicago/LA).

Together, these two artists make an incredible team, and their talent shines on their tech house banger “I’ll Be There“. Sydney-turned-Melbourne producer Wave Racer today releases his long awaited debut album, To Stop From Falling Off The Earth, out now via Eora/Sydney-based tastemaker label Astral People Recordings.
Collecting singles ‘Dreaming,’ ‘Left Behind,’ (featured in Wave Racer’s set for Porter Robinson’s Secret Sky Digital Festival in April) and ‘Look Up to Yourself’ (performed live for triple j’s Like A Version in August), To Stop From Falling Off The Earth’s eleven tracks blend together the rush of his trademark glistening, ecstatic 64-bit production with Wave Racer’s love of quirk-driven pop and, in a first, his own voice, to tell a story of overcoming anxiety, depression, and isolation. Retaining his trademark bubbliness with tongue-in-cheek production – even as the album tackles bigger demons – To Stop From Falling Off The Earth uncovers an emotional depth to Wave Racer’s music that has patiently, quietly matured alongside Tom Purcell, the man behind the moniker.
“All of these songs are made from a feeling of being at a loose end – like flailing around in the wind directionless, with no anchoring in reality,” says Purcell of the album’s resonant emotionality, a sonic balm for anxious times that reverberates for both the listener and its creator. “To Stop From Falling Off The Earth is an attempt to say, “this album is going to remind you about the things that you can do to ground yourself.” And these are the things that have happened to me and have worked for me – this is a story about preventing myself from losing touch with reality.”
Inspired by The 1975’s artful balance of irony, sincerity and observational story-telling, Tom reveals more of himself than ever before on To Stop From Falling Off The Earth – all with a signature self-awareness that never takes itself too seriously. The result is vulnerable, self-deprecating pop layered deeply with electronic embarkations; equal parts playful and introspective, light and dark, and an assured re-introduction to the juggernaut talent that is Wave Racer.

After dominating electronic and hip-hop spheres with “MOSH,” NGHTMRE brings Zomboy back to life for their incendiary dubstep showstopper, “Shell Shock.” Featuring a vocal addition from the widely-renowned Georgia Ku, the two bass music titans deliver a larger-than-life collaboration for the milestone 100th release on Gud Vibrations.
Fusing Georgia Ku’s tranquil crooning with bone-chilling basslines, “Shell Shock” is a record of biblical proportions bound to blow you out of the water. NGHTMRE and Zomboy prove they’re a match made in heaven as they attack this heavy dubstep ballad with rapid-fire synth work and pummelling basses. A hard-to-miss release from this iconic bass brigade on Gud Vibrations, “Shell Shock” combines the best of both worlds by effortlessly dissolving dainty cadence into riotous bass mayhem. Saturated with his hallmark of apocalyptic horns and Zomboy’s crisp distorted drums, NGHTMRE’s newest single is sure to envelop listeners in pure pandemonium.
“I don’t do many collabs. But when I do it’s always something special. When NGHTMRE approached me with this amazing topline from the super talented Georgia Ku, it was a no-brainer to jump on the track! What a great way to celebrate Gud Vibrations 100th release.” – Zomboy

Florian Picasso & Martin Garrix’s GRX have joined forces again, and today they bring ‘Far Away’ into the world. The fresh, uplifting track marks the first output from Martin Garrix’s GRX alias since the release of ‘Restart Your Heart’ last year, which also featured Picasso.
‘Far Away’ marks the beginning of a new story for Picasso who announced the coming of his brand new Héritage EP this week. The release date of the full project is still a secret at this point, but the spectacular trailer video and first music video give a hint of what’s to come. The story-based music video of ‘Far Away’, directed and written by Loïc Schütz, cinematically portrays Picasso wandering through the desert without any sign of life, far away from his world. The end of the video sees Picasso getting thrown into a new universe, which undoubtedly won’t be the end of this storyline.
“Héritage EP pays tribute to the legacy of my late grand great father Pablo Picasso by an exciting piece of music and images,” says Picasso.
One thing is for sure: we will be hearing and seeing a lot more from Florian Picasso the coming months as the full story will slowly start to unfold.

Ever since LIL DUSTY G began to break boundaries in 2017 with his songs “Waste Your Time,” “Ghost Rider,” and “Burn,” everyone has been anticipating more music. The time is finally here. LIL DUSTY G has released the lead single “Preached” off of his debut album on Marshmello’s record label Polar Culture, with the label head as a featured artist.
Marshmello started his own hip-hop producer collective and label imprint Polar Culture label in 2020 and has since signed 6 producers with Dusty being the only artist so far.
This Marshmello x Dusty guitar-infused single is accompanied with a music video directed by Drew Perez, visualizes an alternate dystopian reality that exhorts the contrast of LIL DUSTY G’s personal and sanctimonious dispositions. Together, Marshmello and LIL DUSTY G empirically blend the modern day dark rock and hip-hop genres alongside the Texas-based rapper’s vocals that express poignant themes of somber melodies and bone-chilling honest lyricism.
“Preached” is dedicated to making a lasting impression on fans as the keynote of the single denotes turning deep hate into something positive thus encouraging others to find their own passion or rather live in their own ignorance.

Continuing to build hype for their forthcoming album, Adventure Club team up with BEAUZ and Tilian from post-hardcore darlings Dance Gavin Dance for the new single, “Drive.”
“Drive” is a three-minute track that features melodic vocals delivered by Tilian Pearson from the Sacramento-based band Dance Gavin Dance. The track combines Tilian’s distinct vocals with an ethereal and energetic electronic track that uplifts listeners while showcasing Adventure Club’s signature synth drops and melodic bass.
“We’re so happy to have embarked and completed this musical journey. Beauz has been breaking incredible genre-defying ground, and Tilian has been one of our favorite artists for as long as we can remember. I think everyone will be able to hear each artists distinct contributions to what is probably our favorite track on the upcoming album.” – Adventure Club
Adventure Club fans have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of an album from the Canadian duo for five years. Though the group faced a series of delays and setbacks, they are excited to finally be releasing their sophomore album, Love // Chaos. The LP highlights the fire and energy Adventure Club fans have grown to love since the duo first emerged as leaders in the dance music industry.

More and more we’re seeing comparatively mainstream artists joining forces with those in the EDM world. Already today we’ve seen deadmau5 and Foster The People, and we also have MEDUZA and Hozier teaming up for the new single, “Tell It To My Heart.”
The track breaks down walls between genres and borders all at once. With pulsating house music production and a dancefloor-ready groove, it builds to a striking and soulful climax from Hozier. His instantly recognizable voice takes hold under a different light and new genre altogether for the troubadour.

Another day, another Deadmau5 collaboration that we are obsessed with!
The latest by Deadmau5 is a single shared with indie pop band, Foster The People, and it will seriously make you feel things. Between the haunting vocals and rippling, progressive soundscape, “Hyperlandia” establishes itself as a unique release, perfect for a late night drive or bedtime lullaby.
Foster The People frontman, Mark Foster, adds his unmistakable vocals and a touch of sorrow to the production.
Give me your best night.
We’re only here for a day, so tell me your name
And just melt into my arms while we disappear in the darkness.
When combined with the twinkling synth melodies and progressive bassline, the effect is bittersweet.
Deadmau5 is no stranger to collaboration, having worked frequently with artists like Lights and Wolfgang Gartner. The single is not Foster The People’s first appearance on an electronic record, either. The band also worked with Louis the Child on the March 2020 hit, “Every Color,” and Mark Foster made a solo appearance on Madeon’s 2015 album with “Nonsense.”
The single is available as a radio edit and in the original vocal version, which adds two minutes of bonus dreamy beats. There is quite literally not a second of this either version that is unenjoyable. Our prediction: It’s only a matter of time until we’re hearing this on the radio!
Listen to the dreamy collab below!

Jason Wann isn’t exactly a new artist, especially around his hometown of Portland where he’s been creating interesting, synth-based  music under a number of monikers and is active as a DJ in the local scene. Clearly well-versed in the ways of the synths, Wann’s work is heady, emotive and laced with classic 80s dancefloor style. His latest project, Sines, was invented specifically to marry his synth-heavy house and techno style with female vocals and blur the lines between EDM and pop. With his new album A Series of Moments, released earlier this month, he’s done just that.
Presumably named after the sine wave synth work that is prolific throughout all his releases, Wann’s new Sines project started in January last year with a self-titled debut LP and followed up quickly with another album, Dancing in Place, in May of the same year. With lashings of Kaskade, ODESZA and fellow Portlanders Washed Out, Sines and Dancing… had tight, clean sound design and more than a little throwback cachet in both the synths and the vox. Conjuring images of Madonna dancing in Desperately Seeking Susan and basically the whole soundtrack of The Breakfast Club, Wann as Sines declared his intention to bring the new new wave in dance music.
Mission accomplished, if Wann’s work on Sines so far is anything to go by. Of course both writing dance songs like pop songs and throwback 80s synth vibes aren’t exactly a new concept, but both the level of commitment and the attention to detail are unique to Sines. He dug even deeper for A Series of Moments, pulling from real OG influences like Kraftwerk, Donna Summer and Blondie to really dial in the emotion. with the diverse vocalists on this album, what resulted was an even stronger nod to the emotive, minor key-driven and post punk-tinged sounds of new wave but with updated techniques and more attention to what EDM sounds like now. An excellent blend of new and vintage, pop and electronica with no compromise on sound quality or feeling.
Wann began teasing A Series of Moments in June with its lead track, “Something in the Way.” Vox on this one are by Kitty Richardson, who more than understood the assignment, adds even more 80s indie design. Richardson’s operatic, Kate Bush-like vocals make the track so much richer and deeper. Apparently on top of his synth talents, Wann also knows how to pick his female vocalists.
Conversely, a vocalist like Emily Coomber has a deeper and more definitively new wave sound to Richardson’s, sounding a bit like Susan Ann Sulley from The Human League. Wann matched her to “Under the Waves,” which may remind other old school indie pop lovers of The Cure’s “Plainsong.” The partnering with multiple vocalists allows Wann to be even more diverse in his composition. From Bellabeth’s bell-clear timbre driving the more modern “Run Underground” to Christina Siravo’s full range funk pairing on “Mr. Ciao” and back to Richardson’s heart-rending performance in album closer “Iva,” the collabs in A Series of Moments bring out the best in both the vocalists and the producer.
Artists like Wann who want to keep the sounds of early dance music alive are important, especially as the EDM pop juggernaut goes through its more lackluster phases. With more than 50 years of history, there are scores of influences to pull from now to make something new. Despite his obvious technical prowess, it’s clear that Wann as Sines is more about conjuring those early dancefloor feelings than anything, and by teaming up with the varied and talented vocalists, he’s shown through A Series of Moments just how strong that feeling can be.
A Series of Moments is out now and can be streamed on Spotify or Bandcamp, where it can also be purchased. Check out Wann’s YouTube channel for more music videos from this album and others. Wann’s also released an interesting “Theatrical Cut” of ASOM on Vimeo.

“Do It, To It” from ACRAZE, released on Thrive/Virgin a couple months ago, could be heard all around EDC this past weekend, from Zedd opening his set at cosmicMEADOW with a Squid Games mashup to ACRAZE himself coming out for Andrew Rayel’s set at kineticFIELD to premiere a new remix. The track could also be heard from bassPOD thanks to Subtronics, who played out his own flip of the chart-topping record.
The original swerving house tune turned into a massive headbanger that had the crowd going wild. Subtronics’ own video leaves out the suspenseful build but one of the fans in the crowd replied with the full drop and it’s absolutely insane.

Wooli, arguably the most well known purveyor of sad bass music (if that’s what you choose to call it), played EDC this past weekend. If you were at his set, you probably saw Grabbitz come out as a special guest to sing live over their new collaboration with Illenium.
Captured by @goonass_bhris at the festival, the song is equal parts emotional and bass-filled accompanied by Grabbitz’s “butter on toast” voice, and it sounds amazing! Charlotte de Witte has retained the No.1 spot in DJ Mag’s Alternative Top 100 DJs 2021. The historic win means the Belgian DJ and producer has now won back-to-back No.1 spots.
This is the fourth year that DJ Mag has presented the Alternative Top 100 DJs list in association with Beatport. The results are calculated by combining votes from the global Top 100 DJs poll with a genre filter based on insights and data from Beatport.
Charlotte de Witte is one of the world’s most recognizable techno DJs, and in ordinary times plays hundreds of gigs a year. Rather than reveling in time off during the pandemic, though, she kept on working to expand and evolve her KNTXT empire.
In a sign of increased gender balance in the less commercial genres that are reflected by this poll, 50% of the top 20 artists in the Alternative Top 100 DJs — including de Witte at No. 1, Peggy Gou at No. 5, Amelie Lens at No. 6 and Nina Kraviz at No. 8 — are women.
Although the top 10 contains the same DJs as the 2020 list, Jamie Jones and Boris Brejcha are marginally up and Amelie Lens, Nina Kraviz and Adam Beyer marginally down. Deep house aficionado Nora En Pure is a non-mover at No.10.
The top 13 DJs in the Alternative Top 100 DJs list all amassed enough votes to appear in the main Top 100 DJs poll too. The likes of Black Coffee, Maya Jane Coles, Honey Dijon and Nicole Moudaber are all up several places in the top 25, and the Highest New Entry — in at No. 26 — is Dutch-born techno prodigy Reinier Zonneveld. He has released on Carl Cox’s Intec and Richie Hawtin’s Minus when not putting out music on his own Filth On Acid imprint.
Just behind Reinier at No. 27 is Andy C, a veteran of the main poll but included in the Alternative 100 this time thanks to the widening of the criteria to include drum & bass DJ/producers. Dubfire, Nastia, The Blessed Madonna and Enrico Sanguiliano are also up a significant number of places in the top 40, while Northern Irish duo Bicep are the Highest Climber, up 46 places to No. 33.
There are 18 new entries in the Alternative Top 100 DJs chart overall — including Russia-raised, Italy-based DJ Anfisa Letyago, Sub Focus, Paul Woolford, Jayda G, Sama’ Abdulhadi, John Summit, SHERELLE, Robert Hood and Octo Octa — and two re-entries in the form of DJ Koze and Alan Fitzpatrick.

It will have been three years, two events, since the last Ultra Music Festival in Miami.
Ultra was one of, if not the first festival to be hit with a cancellation due to COVID-19. And, being so early in the year, it had no chance of coming back in March 2021 when the vaccine was only just beginning to roll out and safety around coronavirus was still dubious at best. Now, as we look to 2022, the Miami music festival is plotting its grand return and bringing back all the top-tier acts from which it has built a reputation.
The phase 1 lineup was announced this morning, with names like Pendulum, Illenium, Martin Garrix, Alison Wonderland, DJ Snake, Madeon, SVDDEN DEATH presents VOYD, Zeds Dead, and more.
Honestly, it’s a lot more bass music for an Ultra phase 1 reveal than we’re used to, but the variety is there with Carl Cox, Boris Brejcha, Nina Kraviz, Nicky Romero, Kygo, Oliver Tree, Sofi Tukker, and Tale Of Us also getting announced.
As for tickets for 2022, the situation is a bit unclear. Back in April of this year, the festival was sued for withholding ticket refunds. The lawsuit filed in the Eleventh Judicial Circuit in Miami-Dade County stated:
Ultra engaged in unconscionable, unfair, and/or deceptive trade practices by advertising, offering, and promoting the festival, taking individuals’ money to attend said advertised festival, cancelling the festival, and then failing to provide ticket purchasers with the option of receiving a refund, effectively shifting all risk and costs of Ultra’s decision to cancel the Event to the consumers.
Whether these tickets are still in the buyers possession, or if those buyers will even want to attend 2022 and open those tickets up to the secondary market, or if the festival will release more tickets — these are all questions that at this time remain unanswered.
Take a look at the phase 1 lineup below.

You’ve probably been hearing it all through the pandemic, that producers weren’t releasing their best works until touring and live events resumed. Despite many albums and impressive projects being dropped during the pandemic, overall, that probably remains true. There’s still so many sets to go through from EDC that we’ll likely be finding IDs for weeks, but one has already surfaced — Seven Lions & Rezz.
As Seven Lions took to the main stage on Friday, he dropped this amazing track (below). The clear influences from Rezz mixed with Seven Lions’ own melodic-infused bass music makes for a wonderful track that will surely see the light of day soon.
Until then, check it out below and head here to watch full sets from the festival!

Australian producer and DJ Sonny Fodera delivers 14 fresh and sonically diverse tracks with Wide Awake via his Solotoko imprint. The album is his first full-length offering since his 2019 album Rise.
The album includes singles “Angel,” “You,” and “Last Thought,” and “Turn Back Time,” the successful collaboration with Diplo that has been grazing dance floors since its 2020 release. Sonny Fodera also incorporates a range of recognized vocalists including Laura Welsh, Raphaella, Ella Eyre and more.
The album kicks off with the melodious “You” featuring Sam Tompkins. From there, Sonny Fodera manages to keep each track fresh, offering everything from the tech house favorite “Turn Back Time,” to piano-driven anthems like “Wired” and “So High,” to break beats in “Next 2 U.”
The common thread throughout the album is the infectious four-on-the-floor beats that earned Sonny Fodera his name and landed him a sold-out UK tour and rising notoriety in the United States. With Wide Awake, he has positioned himself as a talented collaborator who is popularizing the house genre.
