We’re no stranger to what you would call “serious” artists suddenly releasing a song that showed off their real-life personality. Dillon Francis, Kill The Noise, Salvatore Ganacci… honestly, a lot of the old OWSLA contingent made a name for themselves with these sort of antics.
Lately, music has felt a bit more serious overall, but we’re glad that some of that ethos exists in the ether, especially with TYNAN’s new song, “Ducks On Acid.” It began as little more than thinking, “what if…”
“I was walking around a park near my house on a brisk fall morning when I happened across a quaint scene of an elderly man feeding bread crumbs to a paddling of ducks,” says TYNAN. “It was a quiet picturesque moment plucked straight from a hallmark card that felt innocently free from the struggles of day to day life. As if this moment could live untouched as a pure representation of peace. Of course, my dumbass brain thought ‘what if he was feeding the ducks acid?’ So I went home and made what that would sound like.”
Sure enough, the song is weird as hell. Modulated duck sounds that we can only assume would be similar to what they would sound like if they happened upon some mind-enhancing substances permeate the production, with bouncy drums and some glitchy synths. It’s as fun as it is weird and wacky and we’re absolutely here for it.
Check it out below.

R3HAB and Afrojack are back once again with another huge festival tune, “Shockwave.” Fans will instantly recognize this track as one that’s been heating up their live sets. Following up the more radio friendly “Worlds on Fire,” the two Dutch superstars hold nothing back on their latest collab. With it’s huge kick drums, bass-y synths and undeniable groove, “Shockwave” is a track designed to tear up the dance floor.
“Afrojack and I have worked together for over ten years, and this last year has been the best yet.” R3HAB says. “We released our anthem ‘Worlds On Fire,’ remixed each other’s records, and played B2B sets at the world’s biggest festivals. We’re excited to start 2023 with ‘Shockwave,’ which is unlike any record we’ve worked on yet. It’s been a staple in our sets as we’ve developed it, and it’s finally ready for its official debut. Each year keeps getting better, and we can’t wait to see what this one has in store.”
Afrojack adds, “It’s been great being back together with R3HAB. We’ve got many records ready to pop; you can find some already in our sets, and we’ve been testing ‘Shockwave’ for a while now and we’re pumped to put it out now!”

With the recent unveiling of Tomorrowland’s 2023 lineup, it’s only fitting that we get a collab from two of the festival’s favorite artists, Lucas & Steve and Yves V. The two Dutch acts have joined forces on “After Midnight.” Featuring vocals from Tik Tok sensation Xoro and a sample from Robert Miles’ classic trance track, “Children,” “After Midnight” pays homage to the old school, all while ushering in a fresh, pop-leaning sound.
The track comes right out of the gates with light pads and hi-hats mixed over the iconic piano notes of “Children.” All the while Xoro hits us with his smooth vocals detailing his frustrations with a love interest. “Why you only call me after midnight?” We’ve all been there and this is the perfect track to dance away any frustrations you might have.

Since its debut edition in 2008, HARD Summer has become a staple of the Southern California festival scene. After many years at LA State Historic Park, it moved to Whittier Narrows in 2014, then the Pomona Fairplex in 2015, then the Fontana Speedway, one year at Glen Helen, and has had its past couple years at NOS Events Center.
Now in 2023, for its 15th anniversary, the festival officially returns to Los Angeles county for the first time in 10 years, showcasing the evolution of the festival in an entirely new setting. As a part of the iconic LA Coliseum’s centennial anniversary celebration, the 2023 edition will provide attendees with a brand new take on the multi-genre HARD Summer experience at a brand new, never-before-used venue combination with various stages spread out across the campuses of the historic Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, Exposition Park, and BMO Stadium (pka Banc of California).

Elements Music & Arts Festival, the Northeast’s premier boutique festival experience, has announced the phase one lineup for its 2023 edition … and it’s a doozy. Skrillex continues his NA festival tour with an appearance at Elements this year, along with a DJ set from Porter Robinson following the Nurture live finale at Coachella this April, plus sets from John Summit, Ganja White Night, Subtronics, Chris Lake, and two more yet-to-be-revealed headliners.
Long Pond proved to be the perfect new home for the revered Elements community in 2022, welcoming revelers to its magical fields and immersive forest landscapes. Quickly becoming a celebrated prodigal home for the long-running event, the location is one of the Northeast’s most unique venues, a clear capitulation of the imaginative feeling Elements has become known for amidst its dedicated community.
Lovers of live electronic music will feel right at home with performances on deck from Elderbrook and East Coast funk-jam icons Pigeons Playing Ping Pong. Those seeking out heavier electronic strains of dance are in for a treat with appearances by LSDREAM, TOKiMONSTA, and Mersiv, Peekaboo, Level Up, Zingara, and Of The Trees.
The four primary stages of the festival are aptly named to each represent one of the key elements that define not only the event’s experience, but the very fabric of the natural world it celebrates. Fire is the home for thrill-seekers who thrive off moments of spontaneous fun, while Earth presents a psychedelic paradise of neon trees, galactic mushrooms, and airborne jellyfish. Air offers a temple of melodies tucked deep in the forest, while the sunshine playground known as Water is where acrobats, pirates, and clowns are ever abounding and swimsuits are heavily encouraged.
Tier One GA and VIP passes are currently on sale through the official Elements Festival website, with a price increase coming soon for Tier Two tickets. Both ticket types are moving quickly and are on track to sell out. Fans can also purchase passes with an initial deposit and pay the rest after, which is $47 for GA passes and $62 for VIP. Thursday early arrival passes can also be purchased, which allows attendees to beat the rush and celebrate the beginning of the festival with an exclusive pre-party with secret headliners. Elements also offers a variety of options related to accommodations, which range from car camping to on-site glamping, nearby hotels, and preset RVs and tents for those seeking an elevated experience.

We still remember when Virtual Self b2b G Jones was first announced for last year’s return of Second Sky. It was the epitome of, “Holy shit, really? This is really happening?!” It was the first Virtual Self set in a couple years, and a rare b2b for G Jones outside of Eprom.
The festival went down last October, including sets from RL Grime, Skrillex, and the man Porter Robinson himself. Back then, Skrillex hadn’t yet started his deluge of new music, so that was pretty cool — but he’d already been a surprise guest at the festival before. Virtual Self b2b G Jones was wholly unique and particularly attuned to the palate of the audience, bringing Virtual Self back from, essentially, hiatus and pairing the project with another of the most talented sound designers in the game.
Now, the full hour-long set is available to stream at leisure, on SoundCloud and Apple Music. Check out the full stream below and don’t be afraid to play it again, and again, and again, and again… we won’t judge.

Rich Fayden is one of those pioneers in the music industry. One could call him a musical hipster because he did many things well before they were cool. For his music on its own, his origins in NYC appear strongly throughout his discography as he makes that specific area’s sound with the utmost affection. All that grime and concrete jungle rising from Manhattan’s foundations can be heard within his output.
His latest drop, “Don’t Be Cruel,” shows his uncanny ability to take what he grew up with and recontextualize it into something new. Originally a new jack swing track, he reimagines it as a lumbering beast of a track. Chill yet with darker undertones, he crafts that classic into a thing that speaks very much toward the present. With a lot of the focus on dance and pop going more for muscle rather than speed, the song has this rumbling bass frequency that has a sheer cinematic quality to it.

With a keen eye for detail and passion in abundance, Fayden is no stranger to delivering high-level performances. The studio always presents an exciting prospect – this time being no different as the musician sought to perfectly capture that same energy within his cover of this one iconic song from years ago. A bass groove set things in motion, followed soon after with vivid synth melodies and creative vocal leads pitched down – culminating into a hit remake sure to stand out amongst its contemporaries!
Beyond his roots in music, he started in the music scene of NYC in person before quickly realizing some of the other elements that would become highly influential moving forward. His scouting of another talent, giving them a chance to be heard, began on Talent Match and the quintessential Myspace. He started doing that around 2003, well before anybody else even thought to do such a thing.
Thus, something is future-facing about Rich Fayden in his music and demeanor that has helped to increase his relevancy as the industry has followed his lead. As we welcome a new year, Rich Fayden is eager to keep producing memorable tracks. He keeps his production style simple and true to form by focusing on signature elements that make songs genuinely iconic.

After a two-year hiatus, Movement Detroit came back bigger and better than ever last year with a lineup that had attendee’s eager to flood the concrete oasis that is Hart Plaza.
Well, that same excitement is in the air with the release of a teaser lineup filled to the brim with top-tier talent, both old and new names alike. One major standout among the list is that of Underworld, whose debut headlining performance at the festival has long been anticipated. They are joined by Belgian Techno star Charlotte de Witte on the mainstage to round out two of the three main slots.
Along with these recognizable names comes a slew of first-time performances: Swedish-born producer DJ Seinfeld; UK’s breakout dance music producer TSHA; Brooklyn-based electronic music producer and vocalist Ela Minus; Italian Techno live artist Giorgia Angiuli; Philadelphia-born, Berlin-based producer LSDXOXO; as well as Berlin-based Techno producer and DJ SPFDJ.
And while these new names are thrilling to see, one can’t help but be impressed with the caliber of talent returning to Detroit in 2023. Enigmatic House legend and Detroit favorite Moodymann is back after ten years since his last festival appearance. Alongside him, fans will be able to catch acclaimed Canadian electronic music producer and writer Caribou; New York House music icons Louie Vega and Kenny Dope as Masters At Work; Detroit Techno pioneers Robert Hood (live) and Carl Craig; Chicago House luminary Green Velvet; Detroit’s ‘first lady of wax’ DJ Minx; renowned UK Techno producer Surgeon; and a House-heavy b2b set from Australian producer Dom Dolla and breakout Chicago House star John Summit.

In typical Movement fashion, they have kept up with bringing an utterly authentic experience to Detroit, emphasizing authenticity and a lineup that showcases differing styles, identities, artists, and more. In addition, they have continuously shown their fingers on the pulse of what current dance music fans are craving.

If you can name one Knock2 song, it’s probably his breakout his “dashstar*”. However, the talented artist is making sure he isn’t resting on his laurels with his newest EP, ROOM202.
On Twitter, he wrote, “I wanted the sonics of room202 ep to reflect why I fell in love with dance music in the first place. I grew up listening to the electro era n everything on the radio in the 2010s. I fucking loved how fun the music was. the melodies.. rhythms.. everything was soo infectious man.”
The EP contains four fresh songs in addition to the two previously-released singles, “Make U SWEAT!” and “gettin’ hott.” Every song is perfectly aligned with his unique sound, while still pushing to explore something new and nostalgic each time. Many of the elements, especially as you might hear them in “JUMP in,” are shared by a lot of that crew, including ISOxo and FrostTop. But they way each artist is able to embody the same spirit with different influences and takes is what makes each of them, not least of all Knock2, special.
“All the IDS played in the set were demos and it only came to be finished as the release date came. I loved the entire process of writing and finishing this EP,” Knock2 said. “I bought a new laptop and took it all the way to Vienna, Austria, to visit my girlfriend that I haven’t seen in months. Nothing beats working in an unfamiliar place but finding comfort with the people you love. I wanted to bring back that special energy I felt listening to old electro and pop electronic music, but also push the soundscape further in today’s sonics. That’s why I got DEV on one of the records because I knew her voice was gonna spark a core memory for my generation.”
He continued, “I wanted to showcase my range as a writer and producer creating genre-bending moments. As I’m typing this, the EP has not been finished yet. I feel the pressure, but I believe pressure creates moments. So here I am again, trying to prove one.”
Collaborations with DEV and Fussy on “Are U Feelin Me” and “Rock Ur World” definitely bring the whole EP to another level with a slight hint of pop, and especially nostalgia.

This past Friday, Urban Outfitters accidentally leaked the full tracklist for Illenium’s forthcoming self-titled album, due out April 28, including track titles and featured artists.
For anyone wondering, everything released since “Shivering” in May 2022 will be on the album, including “All That Really Matters” with Teddy Swims, “From The Ashes” with Skylar Grey, “Worst Day” with MAX, and of course his latest single, “Luv Me A Little” with Nina Nesbitt.
The big reveal, that we’re sure Illenium’s team had some grand reveal for prior to the leak, is a huge collaboration featuring Avril Lavigne and Travis Barker, “Eyes Wide Shut.” Additionally, collaborations with Grabbitz & Wooli, American Teeth, All Time Low, and Motionless In White are also on the album.

So, what did Illenium have to say about all of this?

After all, what else can you say at that point? After it hits Twitter, there’s no stopping the spread — the image of the leaked tracklist quickly made its way to Reddit and other forums, and American Teeth even went so far as to quote retweet the leak confirming he’s definitely on the album.
Props to Illenium for taking all of this in stride, as much as he could. We’re sure to get a couple more singles before the album drops in a little less than three months so stay tuned.

The Aston Shuffle, Australian producer and DJ, boasts over 150 million streams and hit singles like “Stay.” The two artists have finally collaborated after years of discussion and recorded “Differences” in a Brooklyn studio. Get ready for a massive start to 2023 with this collaboration.
Speaking on the release The Magician shares: “We have been talking about a collaboration for a long time. San Holo initially started the track with RL Grime, and then brought on Lizzy Land, who says of the songwriting process: “I heard the main melody for ‘DON’T LOOK DOWN’ almost instantly […] Like gentle bells ringing in my ears. I found it relatable to the way I often feel when I’m overwhelmed or looking for a boost. I hope it inspires people to believe in better days, a higher mindset, and the idea that they can get through anything.”
“…your doubts and negative thoughts are just like clouds passing by. We easily get caught up in the noise of everyday life, myself included. I hope this song can help you keep your head up, and give you the strength to keep going! This song means so much to me and was written from the heart!” San Holo adds.

Dance music icon Paul van Dyk presents his latest release “VENTURE X,” a collaboration with Beatport progressive house chart-topping Weekend Heroes and Forced to Mode frontman Christian Schottstaedt.
It’s the lyrics ‘come with me to where we’ve never been before’ that hint at van Dyk’s new venture in the live experience, VENTURE X. This new live show, will see the veteran DJ curate, and edit trance and progressive anthems in real time.
VENTURE X is an exciting new concept where the master DJ and curator sources from the finest trance, progressive house, and techno music and brings it all together during one incredible evening.
“VENTURE X allows me to explore the width of what electronic music means to me, not just what people expect me to play. It allows me the space to play what I think people should really know, feel, and be exposed to. People know me for trance but there is so much more. VENTURE X allows me to do this as a musical concept because I won’t play 130 BPM straight through but rather a wider musical experience. With most DJ sets I find you either have techno but missing the progressive sequence that takes you on a journey or you have a progressive sound that’s missing the punch. For me, that’s what it’s about, the drive, the push, the pull, and the memories that you create,” van Dyk says.
VENTURE X launches February 17, 2023, in Toronto, Canada at Toybox and will be presented additional cities including New York City, Montreal, Pontiac, Denver, Portland, San Francisco, and Austin. Tickets and more info can be found here.

NYC DJ/producer Mike Nasty is back with “Jazz Club NY” featuring Omari Clarke out now via Nasty Tracks. Off the back of his debut EP release “Deep Into the Sun,” and sold out parties coast to coast from NY to LA, “Jazz Club NY” sets the aesthetic for the expectations of Mike’s sophomore project. The title alone sets the vibe, and the single cover really takes it there, visually. From Omari Clarke’s MCing, and the build up of instruments guided by the keys, layered with a deep house groove, this is the club you want to be in.
Native to Memphis, Mike Nasty’s music is not just the music he likes, it’s who he is. It’s the reflection of his own journey.
“I wanted to tap into deeper sonics of house music with influences of Jazz, Soul, Acid house, and Hip Hop. The project represents my musical journey which all began in Memphis. The Blues and Gospel influence from the city has helped shape my music style into what it is today. This EP pays homage to the place I love the most. I’ll always represent the South with every accomplishment I achieve.”

Last year, Hardwell returned after a years-long hiatus to drop his sophomore studio album, REBELS NEVER DIE, while embarking on a world tour. As we fall headfirst into the new year, he’s back with Maddix to reimagine a dance floor classic, but not necessarily from the club floor…
“Take Me Away” by 4 Strings became a classic on Dance Dance Revolution, though it holds its own on streaming services, as well, with over 27m Spotify streams alone to its name. With a seal of approval from 4 Strings, who described the rework as “a dancefloor banger,” Hardwell and Maddix now reunite for their fifth collaboration, a beloved trance rework that does the unprecedented exhilaration of the original justice. “Take Me Away Again” retains the same elusive euphoria while ramping up a signature modern dance floor sound that relies on prolific drops and underground basslines to slot perfectly into their own live sets.
“Following a wild run of REBELS NEVER DIE return shows, it felt like a good time to officially release this special rework of a classic as 2023 gets underway,” said Hardwell. “We wanted to give the dramatic, atmospheric feel of the original a heavier, harder-edged energy. Bringing it up to date with the sound that fits each of our shows.”

Big Gigantic (Dom & Jeremy) have been a big gigantic name all over the music industry for over a decade, helping pioneer the live instrumentation + DJ sets while continuing to put out incredible music that spans just about every genre of electronic music. Their latest album, ‘Brighter Future II’ is a perfect testament to that, as Big G gave fans just about everything from Lo-Fi and hip-hop tracks to electrifying dance pop anthems. Packed with hits like “Keep on Rising” [feat. Aloe Blacc], “Open Your Mind” [with GRiZ], “and “Free” [feat. Elohim], it’s safe to say the album became an instant classic for the band.
Today, Big Gigantic announced they will be taking their highly anticipated show on the road this winter for a twenty-date trek across the U.S, and they’ll be bringing along an incredibly eclectic group of supporting acts: Tvboo, Eazybaked, Smoakland, A Hundred Drums, Ahee, Jaenga, Superave, Levity, Lizzie Jane and MZG. This veritable who’s who of up-and-coming electronic artists will be appearing in different combinations at different shows; full details along with dates, tickets and more can be found here.
They’ve also unveiled their own electrifying remix to their single “Keep On Rising” feat. Aloe Blacc that we are thrilled to offer as a first listen to you! It’s bass house at its finest, driven by a thundering beat, fiery synth work, and Aloe Blacc’s soulful, captivating vocals.

We also had the chance to chat with Big G about this upcoming tour, what’s inspiring them right now, and their Big Gigantic Difference Foundation, which supports non-profits for at-risk youth, music education, and more. Enjoy!
What’s are some aspects about this tour that you’re excited for fans to experience?
Dom: We’re just excited to get back out on tour to the new places we haven’t gotten to perform our new album and very excited to see our latest stage design this run, that’s inspired by our last Red Rocks stage design! How do you both stay inspired with all that you have going on? Are the upcoming releases/tours enough to keep your inspiration tank full, or do you look to podcasts, books, films, songs, etc help keep that fire stoked?
BG: Honestly it’s easy to stay inspired in the current music landscape. There are so many artist friends, upcoming artists and just artists out there in general that are doing so many incredible things and also just have insane work ethic, that it’s easy to wake up everyday and know that you have your work cut out for you. I’ve also been pretty locked into the new Rick Ruben book hahaha!
How do you keep pushing yourselves to go one step beyond what you’ve already accomplished?
BG: That can be tricky but when your mission as an artist is to.. be an artist, and learn and grown everyday then the goal is beyond just going one step further, it’s always more so, taking a new step everyday forward towards something that’s bigger down the road
Could you share a little bit more about ‘A Big Gigantic Difference Foundation’ and it’s impact?
Jeremy: We started ABGD Foundation a few years back in efforts to raise awareness and funds for all sorts of causes. Our incredible fans have helped us raise hundreds of thousands of dollars that have gone to everything from feeding communities around the country, building computer labs to teach kids music in areas that don’t have access to music classes and helping our good friends Conscious Alliance buy their warehouse to accommodate the food/goods they get to feed literally millions of people. Its pretty incredible what our community can do when we put our minds to do. We’re constantly looking for new ways to help people in any way possible & really look forward to future projects.
Dom, what are you working on next? What’s been inspiring you as of late (films, artists, songs, etc.)
Dom: I’m working on several different EP/albums to release for Big Gigantic in the next year or two, working on our live show and also just working on some other creative music and jazz things and different stuff like that. My plate has been super full but it’s been really fun letting each project lend a hand to other projects. Each idea feeds the next and so on.
Anything else ahead for 2023 that you’d like to share with the Your EDM audience?
BG: Just to be on the look out for more new music a little later this year, more touring and of course our 2 night Rowdytown event at Red Rocks the last weekend of September! This is the first year in several years that it hasn’t fallen on the same weekend as Lost Lands so we’re hoping to see some fresh bass music fans who haven’t been able to attend in the past this time around. Rowdytown is such a special event and we always go all out, so, we’re excited to step our game up again this year!!
