Asher Shashaty has developed a unique style, sound, and genre range that is hard not to fall in love with. Mixing together eclectic influences, personal life experiences, and experimental foundations into each and every song, he brings a new music experience to the table that simply can not be ignored.
Now, he’s teamed up with the talented singer/songwriter Dani King for their uplifting single, “Feeling”. It’s a beautiful combination of pop and future bass, coming together seamlessly for a captivating and melodic anthem. Asher reveals, “Before starting this song I took a deep breath, and thought of what I really wanted for it. I always wanted Dani to do the vocals for the song, so it was made with that intention. She brought the song to life in a way I couldn’t have imagined, and I am honored to be able to work with her.”
Dani added, “I actually wrote this topline with my Australian friend, Max Hurrell. When we sat down in the studio together we wanted to write a song that reminded you of your teenage love. The good, the overdramatic, and the overarching story from start to finish. Asher connected with this topline and brought it to life in a way I love, but never expected. His style fits perfectly with my original intended vibe and I couldn’t love this song more.”
We also had the chance to ask them a few questions about their process, who’s inspiring them, and more. Enjoy!
Have you both worked together in the past?
Asher: We have not worked together in the past, but we are going to work more in the future! Expect another one from us soon!

Dani: This was our first collaboration together and it will not be our last! We both enjoyed the process so much and actually have another song in the works already.
Asher, you mentioned the production process was different for you on this. Can you please expand on this?
Asher: I thought about what I wanted for the song and put all my intention into it. I used to produce very fast and breeze through projects without putting too much thought into each decision I made. This song helped me realize that I want to write with much more purpose.
Who are some artists inspiring each of you right now?

Asher: Some of my inspirations include Flume, Just A Gent, and NGHTMRE.
Dani: Now let’s be honest, I am a songwriter at heart. The songwriters I’ve been losing it over lately are Dezi, Chandler Leighton, Gracie Van Brunt, Luma, Soundr, Meggie York, Known As Nat, Monika Santucci, and so many others. I love seeing my friends succeed and all of them are stupidly talented. I’ve also been finding so much inspiration in mentoring – I teach vocal production and songwriting, and my vocal production students are all amazing songwriters. Sara Benyo, Keliza, Sonja Marie, just to name a few!
What else can you share that’s upcoming for both of you this year?
Asher: My debut album Astral Spring comes out Feb 17th! Some songs on it include “Urban Forest”with Miyoki (Which received Spotify Editorial support), “What I Need” with Misdom, and “Feeling” with Dani King!

Dani: I have the song with Riot Ten and Mashbit coming out sometime this year, along with an amazing collaboration with Sippy on Allison Wonderland’s new label, FMU Records. I also have another song coming out on 2/15 with Outlandr on NCS. We plan on a TON of big releases this year, and more festival performances to go along with those releases! I’m really excited to see what the rest of the year has in store and we have only just started.

Teeming with sultry vocals and heavy-hitting low end, Dallin Dance’s brand new single “Last Night” makes for a stunning showcase of his unmatched skills as a producer. An intoxicating party anthem, “Last Night” immediately gets into action with smooth chords and distorted basslines, as a catchy vocal sample paves the way to the drop, which explodes with the help of groovy house drums and infectious energy.
“Last Night” is bound to go off at Dallin Dance’s massive shows, which have been taking the US by storm over the past years. Dallin Dance grew up in Idaho’s small town Coeur d’Alene, and started his musical journey early with piano lessons at age 6 and guitar at age 9. Now at age 19, he has taken his event production expertise from throwing numerous sold-out parties alongside fellow DJ/event organizer Jared Woodlief and is extensively touring across the country without a booking agent, while having performed alongside iconic acts such as Autograf and SNBRN. He just landed a label deal with TH3RD BRAIN Records, and “Last Night” is the first track off his forthcoming EP.

Last year, Flume found an old laptop from his 2012 era with songs he thought he’d lost — he spent some time and recovered what he could and ended up releasing a couple tracks. He later teased fans on Twitter, “There’s more.”
This morning, he officially released Things Don’t Always Go The Way You Plan, a 10-track mixtape of songs remastered and released from the vault dating 2012-2020, including collaborations with Injury Reserve, Isabella Manfredi, and Panda Bear.
In true Flume fashion, the track titles reflect the rawness of the production and almost tongue-in-cheek, “Yeah, I’m releasing songs that are years old, you’re still gonna listen to them aren’t you? Yeahhhh, you are”-ness.

In addition. Flume has announced a 10 Years Of Flume headline show in Los Angeles at the Kia Forum, supported by Chet Faker and KUČKA. Sign up for pre-sale here.

Combining powerful emotions, hard-hitting basslines, and intoxicating big room energy, experienced house producer Zaandr and 15-year-old talent Dylan Delato’s brand new collaboration “Techtonic” is finally here. “Techtonic” doesn’t mark the first time these two bright artists join forces, as they have been bringing together a number of Midwest artists for some time now. 2022 showed up in a big way on the album front, with plenty of album debuts and returns from legendary names. But each year offers a new look at exciting music from names recognizable or fresh, and 2023 in particular appears poised to represent one of the best years in the electronic music album cycle in quite a while.

Not least of all, at the beginning of this year, Skrillex announced he would be dropping two projects this year: QFF and DGTC. The precise meanings of these acronyms haven’t yet been revealed, but rumors have already been flitting around. To date, we’ve gotten five singles from the two projects in total, and you can tell which is which through the distinct track artwork for each. (Though, to which acronym you assign the differences is another matter.)
Then, of course, we have the anticipated debut album from Kx5, the long-awaited official collaborative grouping of Kaskade and deadmau5, who first enamored themselves to fans with their electric collaboration, “I Remember,” in 2008. When the pairing was officially announced almost a whole year ago with the release of their debut single, “Escape,” hype was already set to maximum.
ILLENIUM will return in 2023 with his fifth studio album, the self-titled ILLENIUM. While hype for any ILLENIUM album is already pretty significant, further fuel was added to the fire recently when Urban Outfitters leaked the tracklist early, revealing collaborations with Avril Lavigne & Travis Barker, Wooli & Grabbitz, Motionless In White, and more.
There are also more albums that we expect could be coming this year, including the long-awaited third albums from both Zedd and Nero, potentially a solo deadmau5 album, and maybe a posthumous album from SOPHIE being finished by her brother.

Gianluca Tavani, notably known by his stage name, TAVA, is a talented DJ and producer and one of Italy’s biggest and brightest exports. TAVA’s career bloomed after years of hard work, dedication, and relentless effort to refine his craft. His breakthrough was after the release of “Twilight”, a monster collaboration with Italian stars, Nari & Milani. “Twilight” was a massive project that paved the way for subsequent hit releases, including “I Am Alright”, both of which were recorded and produced by the magnificent label, Doorn Records.
Since then, TAVA released numerous classic hits that include, “Pump It Up”, featuring Nari and Stefano Pain, and Luciana. “Pump It Up” became the number one track on Beatport Electro House top 100, playing on the best national and international radios and reaching over 2 million plays on Spotify. Additionally, TAVA dropped “Para Paradise”, an authentic single, which was featured in some of Spotify’s most prominent editorial playlists, gaining over 3 million streams on Sony Music Germany.

His song, “Bandits”, was remixed by the famous Swedish DJ, Marcus Schossow.
Many dreams of a successful music career, but only a few can get to live it. According to TAVA, this is no surprise considering that some are just drawn by fame and a potentially lavish lifestyle. TAVA encourages young and aspiring artists to understand it’s a journey. Success takes time and effort, and you have to be patient, hardworking, and, above all, humble. “Work hard, and express all your passion through music, satisfaction comes sooner or later. It is no coincidence that I got my first tattoo at the age of 15, which reads ‘Live your dreams as if they were real’,” TAVA says.
TAVA’s goal is to expand his musical brand to the international stage, creating new fan bases globally. He also shares numerous goals and dreams for the coming years with the vision to establish his record. He wants to leverage this brand to nurture and mentor young talents to create thriving careers. MYTHM made his debut on Deadbeats last year on We Are Deadbeats Vol 5 with the lead single on the compilation, the dark and raucous “Murda.” Now, he’s back with his very own EP on the imprint that brings that dark and dingy dubstep style back to the forefront with Brutalist.
Having only launched the project in 2019, MYTHM has a significant amount of hype behind him, especially with the new release on Deadbeats.
“I’m excited to return to Deadbeats with my new 3 track EP entitled ‘Brutalist’. For my first release of 2023, I wanted to come out with a heavy-hitting EP for listeners and DJs to play out and enjoy. Compared to years past, it’s becoming increasingly difficult for the layman to keep up with all the coals that Skrillex has in the fire for 2023. Unless you’re deep in /r/skrillex and/or a member of his Discord, you’re probably just tuning in every Thursday or Friday for his newest track of the week.
The reality is that he truly has so much music lined up that unless you’re 100% in, it’s easier to experience it all as it comes. That being said, among the many collaborations he has teased so far, including Missy Elliott & Mr. Oizo and ISOxo, he recently teased another with Anthony Green and Prentiss.
Anthony Green is currently the lead singer for Circa Survive, Saosin, The Sound of Animals Fighting, and L.S. Dunes, while also maintaining a solo career. On the other end, Prentiss is a 16-year-old artist who’s been gaining loads of hype, boasting nearly a quarter million monthly listeners on Spotify.
As for what to expect this week, fans suspect that “Baby Again” with Four Tet and Fred again.. is up next.

Beyoncé made history at last night’s GRAMMY Awards, taking home four awards including Best Dance/Electronic Recording and Best Dance/Electronic Album, bringing her total wins to 32 with 88 nominations. That makes her the currently most-awarded artist in GRAMMY history.
Last night’s awards drew criticism (and applause, but mostly criticism) from the electronic dance music community for Beyoncé’s inclusion in the Dance/Electronic category, despite having never actively taken part in the culture over the years. Others nominated in the categories included Bonobo, Diplo, ODESZA, RÜFÜS DU SOL, and others, who have all been actively contributing to dance music culture for years or in some cases decades.
Only two years ago, Kaytranada became the first-ever black artist to win in the Dance/Electronic category, and Beyoncé’s win last night makes her the second. During Black History Month, the win is made even more meaningful for that community.
Plenty of artists weighed in on the results on Twitter, with responses ranging from the typical “the GRAMMYs are a joke” to pride, joy, and solidarity.

Like any millennial, I enjoy a good meme. “Can I get a hooyah???” may have gotten its start on Vine but the phrase has found its way into various mediums over the years, enjoying a few years of silence before it was resurrected on TikTok in 2021. Now, we see speed house queen CHYL use the meme to great effect in her new song, “Hooyah!” with Fahjah. (Is Fahjah itself also a reference to Goldmember? TBD.)
Either way, the track absolutely rips.
We named CHYL one of our Artists To Watch for 2023 and something like this absolutely reinforces our choice to keep a closer eye on the growing talent.
“’Hooyah!’ is an energetic speed house song featuring a fun vocal sample,” CHYL said of the release. “Fahjah and I came across this idea while sending TikToks to one another, and eventually developed this idea into a full track. I’ve been playing this track out at shows and it’s incredible to see the crowd energy during the drop. It’s house music, but on steroids!”

Rezz’s HypnoVizion label is already off to a promising start since it was founded late last year. Her own ‘Nightmare on Rezz Street 2’ is essentially a gimme, as that would have been released on her own label regardless. That being said, resurrecting Isqa, teaming up with Quackson and Wreckno herself, and now releasing the first single from an upcoming EDDIE EP truly showcases the direction the label is going in.
To EDDIE’s own credit, the young producer is talented as hell, we even acknowledged that when we included him in our Artists To Watch for 2020 at the end of 2019. There’s no time limit to when we watch these artists, but his success is no surprise regardless.
The first single from his upcoming EP on HypnoVizion is “Incubator,” a classic midtempo tune with heavily distorted bass and those telltale heavy kicks. EDDIE spices things up with some subtle instrumentation and backing vocals, but this is really just a taste.
“Incubator is the tastemaker to showcase my upcoming EP + who EDDIE really is in 2023 onwards. This one is all about dark driving rhythms that can make you feel like you’re in a dystopian reality,” EDDIE says regarding the release.

Back in 2019, long before the pandemic was even a glimmer in the public’s collective eyes, Excision and Wooli teamed up for a collaborative EP called Evolution. Among the four tracks was “Lockdown,” the opening track of the EP. Now, a little over three years later, the two have joined forces again for the implicit sequel, “Titans.”
“Titans” isn’t the first time they’ve worked together since “Lockdown,” but it’s a clear sequel that even shares some of the same samples (see 2:30). Overall, however, the two went way more bass house than dubstep with this release, and the result is a wildly bouncy and fun time that’s definitely been getting crowds hype as they’ve tested it out at live shows recently.

DJ Horizon is one of the most popular R&B/Hip-Hop DJs in the challenging entertainment industry. You may be
wondering why he is making headlines. Is he really a genius on the decks, or did he get lucky? In reality, both are
true. His rising star was fueled by a growing list of festival performances and headlining sets at mainstream clubs in the US. DJ Horizon started his career at the tender age of 14, telling how passionate he is about what he does.
However, getting into the entertainment industry at such a young age did have drawbacks. DJ Horizon says that the
biggest challenge was bullying from the older generation of DJs. Another huge challenge was being trolled on
social media for standing out and taking his brand, DJ Horizon, seriously. He recalls getting hate comments for
taking press-shot photos and doing live videos in his bedroom.
Nevertheless, that did not slow or stop DJ Horizon because he knew that he was destined for something great and
that his skill and talent would one day be recognized and rewarded. This determination started paying off pretty
soon. DJ Horizon became the first Hip-Hop DJ to get signed to Lucky Ent in Australia.
DJ Horizon went on to be signed to Mushroom Group and became the face of Australia’s iconic RNB Fridays Live.
Everything he wanted and dreamed of was now turning into reality. He reminisces about one of the biggest moments in his career, performing in front of 70,000 people in his home city of Melbourne, Australia (Marvel Stadium).
DJ Horizon went from being a bedroom DJ to sipping whiskey with big names in RnB like Trey Songz and Usher.
Soon after, he got signed to Skam Artist in America. He also supported other acts like Drake, Usher, Lil Uzi Vert,
Playboy Carti, A$AP Rocky, Jason Derulo, and many more. With such accomplishments under his belt, it is easy to
assume that he received recognition. DJ Horizon was recently named the most viral DJ on TikTok with over 40
million views. “Your future is based on every decision you make. Don’t hesitate to do it,” he says.
In the last couple of years, DJ Horizon has travelled quite a lot. He has been playing in clubs and events worldwide and he says it is a great feeling to play music for people and see them dance. DJ Horizon wants to improve his skill
and make more money. But that is not the only thing that he is looking at. He wants to positively impact his
community, beginning from his hometown, and inspire younger DJs to chase their dreams.
As far as where DJ Horizon sees his brand and himself in a few years, he reveals that he will be moving to Dubai in
2023 to further his career. This is a smart move, seeing as the city is known for being expensive, luxurious, and
above all, an entertainment hub. However, that does not mean DJ Horizon won’t be back. He says that Australia
will always be home for him.

Since then, KROMI has released numerous successful projects, with her collaboration with Ander Huang, “F Boy,” on Spinnin Records being a standout favorite. If you were wondering whether the deluge of new Skrillex music would stop or slow down after January, here’s your answer. For the fifth week of the year, Skrillex has dropped his fifth single, this time teaming up with Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti for “Xena.”
The track has clear Middle Eastern, almost Indian influence, especially in the drums and rhythm, not to mention Nai’s impressive vocal range and style. Beginning with an extremely minimal trap beat, it later moves into a hard dance section that should absolutely kick any crowd into overdrive when it hits.

Almost two months ago, we revealed our annual Artists to Watch list for 2023, including W IN K among 39 other exceptional names. This past week, W IN K dropped a 30-minute mix full of unreleased music for the upcoming year, and, not to toot our own horn, it’s great to hear that we were right in picking this talented artist as one to watch.
While we can’t point to specific track titles in the mix (they’re all IDs), we can confidently say that there isn’t a single one that you’ll skip. All of the edits and clips, including Nero’s “Promises” or Flume’s “Never Be Like You” also show off W IN K’s skill as not just a producer, but also DJ.
Though it’s not from W IN K himself, also pay special attention to the Knoir remix of Elley Duhé’s “Immortal” at 21:18. If you didn’t know, Elley had the original vocal that Fred again.. used for “Jungle,” so if it sounds familiar, that’s why.
