The enigmatic electronic-pop maestro Claptone has been all of the buzz lately. His iconic Masquerade event took place during Miami Music Week and featured a massive lineup with Claptone, LP Giobbi, James Hype, Ferrick Dawn, and the legend Fatboy Slim who all left the instagram story feeds saturated with their dazzling sets.
He just completed his highly anticipated B2B with Brazilian tech house star Vintage Culture that rocked Ultra Music Festival’s main stage. Through all of this excitement, he recently tapped Chicago/Detroit duo Gettoblaster along with German duo Andhim to each deliver what are exceptional remixes to his collaboration with Mayer Hawthorne, “Feel This Way“, off of his ‘Closer‘ album.
Andhim kicks things off with an insatiably groovy club-pop remix, bubbling with bright melodies and a rumbling bass line. They seamlessly infuse their own sound while still keeping the greatness of the original in tact.
Gettoblaster follows with an explosive remix that showcases their Chicago and Detroit underground roots, flipping the original what is a superb, jackin’ remix. Claptone also adds his own dub mix to cap off the EP that is yet another fantastic interpretation of the original.

Apart from remixing his own “Blame Myself” with Virtual Riot on the Fallen Embers deluxe album, it’s been quite a while since we’ve had an original heavy banger from ILLENIUM. The last few all saw him teaming up with Excision for “In My Mind,” “Feel Something,” “Gold (Stupid Love).”
Last night as he closed out the Ultra main stage for the first time, he dropped a brand new, unreleased banger that reminds us for all the pop and love songs he puts out, he can still go incredibly hard. The song is with Spiritbox and is allegedly called “Shivering.”
Check it out below before you hunker down for the last day of the live stream later today!

The first day of Ultra kicked off yesterday and kept fans busy the whole day with a variety of stages and flavors of music to choose from. For those of us at home, approximately eight hours of live stream footage kept us glued to our device of choice while Ookay, Sullivan King, Timmy Trumpet, SVDDEN DEATH presents VOYD, Martin Garrix, Pendulum, and more shook our speakers.
Day two begins today with Mykris on the live stream, followed by a lot of really, really short sets between 10 to 30 minutes. The longest set we get all day doesn’t start until 8:35PM EDT when Afrojack comes on the main stage, followed by ILLENIUM headlining for the first time at 10:45PM EDT.
Slushii gets 15 minutes; Tchami gets 30 minutes; Tiësto, at least, gets 45. Sadly, even Madeon will only get 15 minutes of screen time and DJ Snake will only get 30 himself.

Five months ago, Kygo released a new song, “Undeniable” with X Ambassadors. It was okay. But I had some thoughts — read here.
Now, in March 2022, Kygo just headlined the Ultra Music Festival main stage for the first time and I think I can confidently say it’s not what anyone expected. It was dark, it was vibey, it was fun and fresh. It was not the Kygo we’ve known who would play piano (though he did bring it out eventually) and keep the vibes relatively low key.
Of course, there’s something to be said about this not being a typical tour set, especially when you’re headlining the main stage at a festival that typically expects a certain sound. Regardless, most artists wouldn’t simply compromise their sound to this extent for one show unless explicitly billed (think “DNB Set” from house/dubstep artists).
We still have yet to see if this sound translates to his next releases, or even other live sets. But for one night, Kygo completely took our breath away and we’re still listening to it the next morning.

This week marked the debut release of “Chopper,” the debut single from the hottest whales in the metaverse- DJ duo Krill Bill. When DJ Dale the Whale and Willy Freeze met in Alaska at a young age, they knew their friendship would take them far and wide, but no one imagined the two would be taking over the metaverse party scene at such an unprecedented pace.
Krill Bill’s debut single “Chopper” is the result of long days and nights at the beach sipping wine and making beats — in their underwater studio, of course.
Part of a larger community of like-minded individuals, the Catalina Whales, Krill Bill is in the running to form a whale supergroup with the goal of making global party records and touring the world.

A triad of talent has aligned to create an epic cover of an iconic song, Hyper, Jack Trammel, and Sam Matlock (of Wargasm) have all joined forces to render something that does justice to the original while bringing a balance to all 3 of their styles under one production. Out via Position Music, this tune is an absolute banger all things considered and fits to many moods

On the one hand, the structure of the release fits with bass music culture, yet the vocal work fixates on a vibe that is much more hardcore rock / punk-rock. Yet, all of these genres are heavy, so it makes sense that they would have the natural synergy to gel, which is exactly what is happening on this release.
Hyper is certainly the guy who is bringing in the rock/punk-vibe onto this release. He’s been a huge fan of grunge and various rock/heavy rock genres growing up, being from Seattle himself (home of Nirvana.) He has collaborations with artists like The Crystal Method and Iggy Pop, huge, globally known names in all of music and especially in their respective scenes. Hyper injects this know-how in a sophisticated and brilliant way with this cover.
Jack Trammell is big in the video game and film trailer world and probably had a big role in designing the mood and direction of this release. It certainly has a cinematic feel to it, it being easy to imagine the type of song in something like a box office trailer.
Sam Matlock handles the structure on the guitar and vocal front and does so with grace and enthusiasm. The dude has an interesting background and career to say the least, he’s a member of the successful band Wargasm and also son of the bassist Glen Matlock – who was in The Sex Pistols – so a ton of cultural context with this guy and a great inclusion on a collaboration such as this.
An optimal meeting of the minds has occurred with “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” – Hyper, Jack Trammel & Sam Matlock are a force to be reckoned with.

Dropping just in time for Miami Music Week 2022 and the start of festival season comes the release of a highly-anticipated new EP, the ‘Swerve Miami Sampler ‘22’. Aitor Hertz kicks things off with a thundering dance track title “Come With Me” boasting hypnotic vocal samples and an infectious groove. “Let Me Be” follows as Bonkr takes things a little deeper, with a blissful tune that seems like the perfect pair to a Miami pool party.
Djobo and Hedclem come together for their euphoric single “Thinking About You“, so reminiscent of the glory prog house days and still sounds fresh to the ears. It feels like an anthem through and through. Jake & Alvar wrap up the EP with “Don’t Tell Me – That You’re Leaving“, a progressive track that will elevate listeners from the start with its stunning melodies, propelling vocals, and goosebumps-inducing drops.

Thomas Xavier is a master of the house and tech house groove, already proving his talent on sensational tracks like “Funky Skunk” and “Peekaboo”. His music has been widely received, pulling over 100k streams via DSP’s in under 6 weeks.
Now, he’s back with yet another electrifying tech house EP titled ‘Good Dome‘ signed to his Pharoah Phoenix imprint. “Flex Yo Freak,” wastes no time bringing infectious house vibes, moving nicely with a rumbling bass line and a groovy mood. “Good Dome” builds upon the energy of the previous track, with ferocious house bass leads and synth stabs that renders the single perfect for a peak moment in a set. Xavier is amazing at blending a variety vocal samples with different synth sounds that not only keeps you on your toes, excited about what to expect next, but also will keep your body glued to the dance floor.
Thomas Xavier adds, “Good Dome & Flex Yo Freak are two songs that express my journey into the depths of life.  To foster a beginner’s mind, and expose your limiting beliefs… while getting weird… Priceless.”

The long-awaited and highly requested collaboration from Martin Garrix and Zedd has been on the horizon for quite some time, and today it’s finally here — “Follow.”
With a beautiful piano intro that is reminiscent of Zedd’s older chord progressions, the song erupts into a heavily textured, synth-laden refrain before heading straight into the four-on-the-floor drop. Between the chord progression, melody, synth work, and drums, each artist’s identity is perfectly on display with this fantastic collaboration while also making room for singer-songwriter Emily Warren’s sultry vocals halfway through.
Maintaining a close friendship over the last couple of years, the collaboration has been long overdue with Garrix and Zedd talking about doing a song together for nine years. Understandably, the hype around the track started to build massively over the past couple of weeks after serious teasing from both sides. Fans who attended Garrix’s show at Lollapalooza Chile last week were in for a treat, while he premiered the track while FaceTiming Zedd.
As a cherry on top, Garrix will play the track in his Ultra Miami Mainstage set tonight, as the track will surely be a staple track in his sets for the shows to come, while Zedd will treat his audience at Beyond Wonderland with a live spin to celebrate the release.

In 2005, TATE SEDAR was on Garageband at every Apple store in and around his hometown of San Francisco. There, he found his passion for music production. What he didn’t know then though was it would take years to find skill in it, all while trying to grow up. In adolescence he continued to juggle life with music, school and jobs. Beyond production classes & self-taught basics, he spent high school nights in the early 2010s developing his skills with little advanced resources available at the time. The inability to sound professional brewed perfectionism into college, leaving tracks like “Find a Way” (from 2012) unfinished. After the deaths of Tim Bergling and Pierce Fulton, SEDAR saw parallels in his mental health. This led him to reestablish a drive to refine his skillset, tackle shortcomings and lower expectations of himself since 2020.
Today, we are thrilled to premiere his now finished single, “Find A Way“, along with a music video for you to watch. It’s nothing short of amazing, as SEDAR welcomes you into his beautiful, whimsical world the minute you press play. “Find A Way” carries big electro-pop energy, highlighting SEDAR’s strength not only with chords, but with sounds as well. Whether you hear this in your playlist or on the main stages at festivals this summer, you can count on feeling the incessant urge to dance your way thought the entire song.
The analogous structure of SEDAR’s life is shown in the video co-created with Chris Adams (shot for Insomniac & Goldenvoice events) and Eugene Luu (Armada, Pyro & Eclypse). It follows the discourse of mental health issues in the production career, observed by his producer peers first-hand and in the passing of Bergling & Fulton. SEDAR states: “I think it’s time to be open about it.”

House music’s producer of the moment, John Summit, has launched his own record and event label — Off the Grid Records.
This move comes during a massively successful era for the Chicago-based DJ and producer behind a plethora of top house hits including “Deep End,” “Make Me Feel,” “Human” and most recently, “La Danza.” It’s a natural progression, as he shifts into a tastemaker and curator role in the industry.
Summit shares of the new venture:
so stoked to finally announce my own record label/event brand. as my sound has grown to be all things house & techno, i knew it was time to make my own imprint with nothing off limits.
The label’s sold out launch party is slated for March 26 in Miami, rounding out Miami Music Week. What’s next for the label? We can only assume an event series that takes Summit’s dedicated fanbase “off the grid.”

He has a impeccable talent creating fresh and invigorating songs in the studio that only seem to leave us in awe of all he’s capable of. The minute you press play on “here with you,” you are whisked away into the whimsical, beautiful world Super Duper has created and you won’t want to leave. He refines everything to love about his singular sound, from dusty drum breaks to stretched vocal samples, warping subtle elements into electronic-inflected joy.
Super Duper explains, “The concept of the song is about being content and trying to focus on the silver lining of life. The production came together after writing a piano ballad and then speeding up all the parts. It gave a very slow melancholy song lots of energy but kept the emotion intact. Balancing between emotional and energetic is always a sweet spot for me.”

It’s nice to see the Korsakov Music’s label manager AL/SO branching out with his own tunes recently. With his collab tracks on Viper with Synth System hitting almost as hard as “Party Every Day” and now his sliced up neuro dual singles “House Party” and “Epic” on Boomslang, the mad Dutchman is proving he’s more than a one-trick dancefloor pony.
Azores-based producer Impex is a relative newcomer but has already put his stamp on Europe with his throwback neuro vibes and epic synths. Hence the track name, apparently. Impex had tracks on fellow islanders Tenerife-based label Histeria as well as Promo Audio Recordings and Sine Function Music before featuring on last year’s Korsakov Future Stars compilation with his dizzyingly intricate track “Methadone.” He also put on some of Protugal’s only D&B club nights Raving Panda and Qo with True Bass and FilthyNoize, respectively, before doing a bit of touring in 2021 and, like many artists during the COVID lockdowns, turning to production full-time. This is where we find “House Party” and “Epic.”
One might think that “House Party” would be right down the line of dancefloor, what with its name and being half Al/SO’s track, but with the chugger of a sub synth and deceptively simple beat, it more than straddles the gap between party stomp and neurofunk. Add an eerie and similarly crunchy main synth and some major wind-up breaks, and “House Party” has that tough-to-achieve balance that will keep the dance moving whilst allowing to the neuroheads to keep their screwfaces on tight.
The fun bits of “Epic,” our YEDM premiere today, are really in the beat, despite so much going on above the bass. The echoey, starburst drumline conjures late-era techstep/early neuro vibes along the lines of “26 Bass” by Scorpio vibes (yes, that is one of the most obscure D&B references you’ll ever hear, thank you). The synth and midlines are neuro-tinged theatrics that bring a lovely sense of impending doom to the track while again a winding buildup drops into more “epic” chaos, letting the dance know there’s nothing to fear but eardrum failure at that perfectly loud, static-tinged first notes.

Boomslang Recordings · ALSO & Impex – Epic AL/SO and Impex seem to have lit upon a pretty winning formula with their collab, and Boomslang were smart to snap up “House Party” and “Epic” to reap the benefits. With their wide-reaching appeal and now wide-reaching release partners, there’s no way both of these tracks won’t play on festie stages worldwide this spring and summer.

Today, ODESZA announced their fourth album: The Last Goodbye which will be released July 22 via Foreign Family Collective/Ninja Tune. The album will be available on vinyl, available for pre-order here.
In tandem, the latest single off the project “Love Letter” featuring The Knocks, is out today – a dynamic, emotive vocal refrain that serves as a personal proclamation, speeding amongst curtains of orchestral synths. The track joins previous singles “The Last Goodbye” featuring Bettye LaVette and “Better Now” featuring MARO to showcase an initial taste of the breadth of the record, which Mills & Knight masterfully thread together – to create this expansive, yet seamless cohesion found on the forthcoming full-length LP.
“Over the past few years we’ve been able to reflect on who we are, what it means to do what we do, and in the end, who we are doing this for,” said ODESZA about the forthcoming album. “We became focused and inspired by the impact our families and friends have imprinted on us, and how we want to continue to echo that out as we move through this life. We found comfort in the fact that those who we love stay with us, that they become intrinsically part of us, in a way.”
About the new single, the duo added, “The Knocks sent us an incredible demo that we were immediately drawn to. Once we started writing for the new record we rediscovered the song and felt like it embodied much of the sound we were looking for. Over the next couple of months we worked to develop the track to its current form. Inspired by the late 90’s and early 2000’s electronic scene, we went about trying to craft something that felt both timeless and modern.”

OBLVYN’s musical journey began at the age of 5 with training in classical piano, later on becoming a guitarist in a pop punk band, and finishing post-secondary with a degree in jazz and pop music. After years of experimenting in different styles of music, OBLVYN has settled on future bass as her primary genre but often steps out of those bounds to create a sound that is unique to her individuality as an artist.
Her talent is undeniable and we are hooked on her latest single “With You“, a collaboration with vocalist RIELL, signed to the prestigious NoCopyrightSounds imprint. This cinematic single is laced with euphoric and anthemic melodies that swell underneath RIELL’s beautiful vocal into a sensational drop. With its official website slated for official launch March 24/25, Independent is coming in hot to solve a problem that has been discussed time and time again within the web3 community: fans having the ability to directly invest in their favorite artists’ careers. Built on the Solana blockchain, Independent is powered by massive NFT project Monk Mafia, which made international headlines after receiving backing from some of Asia’s most renowned celebrities.
The platform will allow artists to give up a percentage of their royalties for fans and listeners to invest in, who in turn will receive special offers and perks. This direct fan-artist relationship aims to allow artists to receive support from their audience while bypassing traditional music industry gatekeepers such as labels and other intermediaries. In return, fans will be able to recoup their investment while becoming official co-owners of the song, owning NFTs that are very likely to appreciate in value while giving artists the means to invest in their career and watch it grow.

ODESZA released their last album, A Moment Apart, five years ago. After a world-spanning tour capping off the album cycle, the duo had been in hibernation as they completed their next work. They’ve recently released two singles, “The Last Goodbye” and “Better Now,” and they’ve confirmed that the album is now complete.

The news comes as ODESZA announce their return to live shows for the first time in three years, with two shows in their beloved hometown of Seattle. Their largest performance in Seattle to date will include special guests Sylvan Esso and fellow Foreign Family Collective artist, ford. The show is set to be a full reminder of how ODESZA has pioneered the live stage for electronic music.
Of the forthcoming show, Harrison Mills & Clayton Knight said: “For our first show back in 3 years we couldn’t think of a better place than in our hometown. The energy in Seattle is truly something else and to top that off, we’re surrounded by so many of our friends & family. We really can’t express how excited and grateful we are to be playing live music again, especially at home. We’re working hard to put together an incredible show and can’t wait to see everyone there.”

It’s been nearly a month since MC Skibadee, a founding member of the jungle and drum & bass genres and still one of the most recognized MCs on the planet, passed away suddenly. The news was broken by his daughter on Facebook on February 27 and the D&B community has been in a bit of a shock state ever since.
Perhaps just as much as his own family, Skiba’s friends and colleagues in the world of D&B have been hit especially hard with the news of his passing. His comrades in jump up supergroup SASASAS, for example, are now mourning the loss of their second MC in just four years, after MC Stormin passed of sickle cell anemia, also in February in 2018. Through his grief, fellow group member and friend of almost 30 years DJ Phantasy managed to share some thoughts with Your EDM:

Other colleagues and friends are just as devastated, from every genre and period of drum & bass. We caught up with Viper label boss Futurebound, and he had this to say:
MC Coppa mirrored these sentiments from an MC’s perspective:
Another contemporary, DJ Rap, simply said this through a lot of tears on the day he passed, reflecting the sentiments of fans and friends alike:
Check out an excellent Rap set featuring Skibadee here.
Inperspective Records, Eloisa and Black Junglist Alliance boss Chris Inperspective thought about the legacy MC Skibadee will be leaving, which is one of the best sentiments for fans and music lovers:
While family and friends are still grieving, fans and the extended music and arts community are making sure Skiba’s light is still burning bright with artwork and events all over the UK. A mural painting vigil brought fans together in both Birmingham and Bristol over the weekend while SASASAS dedicated their massive Rampage set to their fallen brother.

The tributes keep coming with Harriet Jaxxon dedicating her RinseFM show tonight to some of Skiba’s best sets at 10 PM GMT (5 PM EST, 2 PM PST in the US). Link here to listen and it will likely be on YouTube later in the week for those who can’t catch it live.

Of course it wouldn’t be real tribute if there wasn’t a big, blowout party in Skib’s honor in his hometown of London. On Saturday, April 23, Fabric will throw a day party for the legendary MC for those in London.

For any other official news about Skibadee and events around his memory, his daughter Asia is running his Facebook page now. The family haven’t released details of his cause of death and have asked for privacy in the matter. For those wanting to donate to his family for funeral and legal expenses, a GoFundMe has been set up. Click here for more details.
Skiba will be missed but his work lives on.
