Canadian artist Famba might just be one of the most versatile producers out there. He’s successfully done the commercial house sound, accomplishing tens of millions of streams across DSPs as well as two RIAA Certified gold records in Canada and a number one at Dance Radio in the US with “Storm ft. Kyra Mastro.” He’s been teasing deeper, more tech house productions via social media that have had us on the edge of our seat, excited to hear these songs in full.
Cloverdale, who believe it or not was Famba’s former neighbor in Halifax, has also been on a roll, amassing multiple Top 10s on Beatport’s overall chart and has graced the decks at esteemed festivals such as Electric Daisy Carnival and Ile Soniq.
Now, the two have come together to create a sizzling tech house single, “Rush On Me“, signed to Sonny Fodera’s prestigious SOLOTOKO imprint. A soulful vocal sits on top as a insatiable four on the floor groove drives underneath. As Cloverdale puts it, “In the end we got a killer collab between two long time homies that we’re both super proud of.“

We had a few minutes to speak with Famba about where he’s at this year and this single. Check it out below!
“Rush On Me” is a big departure from the style of songs you’re known for. What’s the backstory of it?
What does this mean in terms of the style of music you’ll be releasing going forward?
You’re booked to play Chasing Summer in July, how will this new musical direction influence your live sets?
I heard you just returned from a month of being in Europe? What was that experience like?
Who are some of your wish-list collaborators?

Web3, The Metaverse, Crypto, NFT’s…  we all hear these worlds nearly on a daily basis. The world is evolving at rapid pace and artists are joining. Whether it was Justin Boretta teaming up with Aaron Penne for their Generative Art and music project, or Steve Aoki spearheading the NFT movement in the dance music community, it is clear to see that technology and the music industry are now linked more than ever.
There’s another artist who’s enjoyed immense success over the past 30 years. Whether that be the frontman of a Hungarian pop group, one half of legendary trance duo, or producing beautiful progressive and trance  music under his solo project, Shane 54 managed to continue to pioneer new ways for people to experience his music.
What do we mean by that? Well, he’s using AI technology to create music videos and the result is jaw dropping.

When he started, it took months of experimenting – and failing. Nothing was working the way he envisioned it.
Then he realized, with a separate app for animation, he could avoid the cliches that were so easy to fall for when creating AI videos.
Although he does not think himself to  be a filmmaker in a traditional sense, he is undoubtedly creating a new visual experience to pair with music that has an absolutely unique look, and a story to tell.

Don’t let the intro of the title track for Virtual Reality, Tengu’s first solo multi-track since 2020’s Comin’ In Tough LP fool you. The light, lilting, slightly vintage synths drop into the Brighton producer’s trademark madness soon enough, and then it’s running basslines, crunchy synths and jumpy rollers from start to finish on his new Virtual Reality EP, out this week on Korsakov Music.
Tengu has always had an ability to combine light, ravey elements with dirty, heavy bass and neuro flourishes in a way that doesn’t sound hokey or try-hard, and Virtual Reality is no exception. The hookup with dancefloor imprint Korsakov Music is timely as well, as after Tengu released a track on the Dutch label’s Future Stars compilation last year that was wildly popular, it seemed only a matter of time before an EP was due. With summer festie season about to begin in earnest, these tracks are likely to see even more play, and rightfully so.
The ravey, Tron-like synths follow Virtual Reality through all its tracks, so it’s obvious there’s a theme here. On second track “Rayquaza” one might even call the synths so ravey that they’re progressive, that is until the second drop, where a chunky af synth takes over and pushes the track into epic dancefloor/neuro vibes. Seeing as it’s named after a similarly epic Pokémon, the progression of this track seems fitting. The EP’s closer “Cell”, by contrast, is all chunky synths and has a more ominous vibe than its predecessors. Perhaps signifying an epic VR battle, the script is flipped here a bit, with the synths sounding very modern but the drums and snares having a fun, starburst throwback vibe.
The title track to Virtual Reality is our YEDM premiere today and despite its very vintage, keys-from-Kyrie-by-Mr. Mister vibe, that balance between light and dark, sublime and heavy is present, with loads of interesting sine wave manipulation and ambient sound design that really introduces the theme of the EP nicely. The highs and bass flow together nicely here, and if we’re talking balance, it probably is the most balanced track. That means it’ll probably be the most played this summer, as it will mix well with loads of different styles and genres.

Korsakov Music · Virtual Reality While all Tengu’s releases over the past few years (usually on Southampton UK label YosH) have this lovely balanced quality that works well with different mixes, it seems he’s dialing that style in even more lately, and it will likely serve him well. With Korsakov Music and its Future Stars series as a pretty decent predictor, fans can expect to see a lot more of Tengu in the coming months and years.
Virtual Reality drops this Friday, June 3 on Korsakov Music. Click here to pre-order or pre-save.

As an accomplished producer, DJ, and all-around performer, Callie Reiff has made history as the youngest DJ toperform at Webster Hall — since then, she’s taken the stage at festivals such as Creamfields, EDC Las Vegas, Tomorrowland, and Ultra and she’s opened for world-renowned acts including Ed Sheeran, Skrillex, and more. Now at 22 years old, Callie Reiff has aligned herself at the intersection of indie pop and electronic. There’s a reason she’s gained global support from tastemakers such as BBC Radio 1’s Annie Nightingale, Rinse FM’s Marcus Nasty, and Diplo — each release exudes Callie’s bubbling, fearless energy and unrivaled character. In addition to her own tracks, Callie has knocked out dance floor-ready remixes for artists such as Alison Wonderland, SOFI TUKKER, TRACE, and more. Now, Callie is making her return to Dim Mak with her electrifying single, “Arm’s Length“. Laced with gritty synth wave production, Lia delivers a gripping vocal performance that together, helps this song soar to new heights. “Arm’s Length” showcases a more sophisticated, sonically dark side of Callie and the result is spectacular.

Fedde Le Grand is back with another groovy new track, “Nothing’s Gonna Hurt You.” Following from his previous release “Heaven” with Robert Falcon, “Nothing’s Gonna Hurt You” sees the veteran producer/DJ go deeper into the tech-house realm. Featuring a catchy bassline, old school bass synths, and a hypnotic vocal refrain, “Nothing’s Gonna Hurt You” is sure to light up the floors at after-hours around the world.
This track is more of a stripped back affair for Fedde Le Grand. The production is fairly minimal. A four-on-the-floor beat propels most of the song, the vocals lend a nice touch and the drop lends it a nice, old school feel with its droning bass synths. “Nothing’s Gonna Hurt You” is an undeniable house hit, and a track that is sure to make its way into sets all summer long.

Fresh off the heels of his sunrise set at EDC Las Vegas, Jason Ross has just dropped his latest single, “Hate This Kind of Love” featuring HOLT. Out now on Seven Lions’ Ophelia imprint, “Hate This Kind of Love” is the perfect blend of melodic bass, progressive house, and of course, vocals that will make you feel some kind of way.
Featuring soaring progressive melodies, “Hate This Kind of Love” is a gut-wrencher of a song about a mildly toxic relationship that you just can’t seem to break free from. Just because someone hurt you, doesn’t mean you’re ready to say goodbye to them; seems to be the general sentiment of the song. When HOLT repeats “I hope you hate being lonely too” you can feel the pang in the lyrics.
On top of the song release, Jason has just announced his biggest headline show to date at the Hollywood Palladium on August 26. Get your tickets here.

Nicky Romero is back with a new EP, Perception, that sees the Dutch producer/DJ go back to his roots by taking on a more house-driven sound. The EP features two new tracks, “Hear Me Now” and “Work My Body”, as well as two previously released singles, “Pressure” and “Lose My Mind” which both featured prominently in Nicky’s Ultra Miami set this year.
Both new tracks vibe perfectly with the previously released ones. “Hear Me Now” could easily be a track under Nicky’s Monocule alias with soulful vocals over low-end synths and a nasty tech-house drop. “Work My Body” sees Nick sort of blending his more tech-house sound with almost a Future Rave vibe.
It’s been great to see veteran producers explore new (or in this case, older) sounds and incorporate them into their sets and libraries. Nicky Romero is no exception. Here’s what he had to say about Perception
“Over the past years, I’ve been producing different kinds of genres within dance music. At the beginning of 2022, I went back to my roots and started to try out producing more groovy and house-y tracks. When I could play Ultra Music Festival again this year as the first major festival after two years, I wanted to drop ‘Pressure,’ ‘Lose My Mind,’ and ‘Work My Body’ to see the main stage crowd’s reaction. The reception of these three tracks was truly amazing, so I couldn’t wait to go back to the studio to work on more music, and this is when I produced ‘Hear Me Now,’ which perfectly concludes the ‘Perception’ EP”
Check out the latest from Nicky Romero, Perception, out now on Protocol.

German alt-rockers Milky Chance have been unstoppable over the past year, capping off 2021 with over 1 billion streams, and earlier this year released “Synchronize”, a pulsating club track that has hit over 20 million streams. The two have also been hard at work building out eco-conscious initiatives through their Milky Change sustainability initiatives, which seeks to promote eco-conscious touring and has planted over 100,000 trees to date.
Now, they’ve tapped techno aficionado Christian Löffler to provide his unique perspective on their smash, “Unknown Song“. The result is fantastic, as Löffler beautifully infuses the remix with peaceful, deep house rhythms that perfectly compliment sweet folksy melodies from Milky Chance lead vocalist Clemens Rehbein and guest vocalist Paulina Eisenberg. Between gently swaying electronics and thoughtful preservation of the guitar riffs, Löffler yet again mesmerizes our ears with this remix.

Rezz just recently played yet another packed-out EDC set in Las Vegas, and she’s back with her newest single — this time, she’s tackling a cover of Eurythmics’ ’80s classic “Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)” with fknsyd. The two previously collaborated on “Let Me In” off her most recent album, Spiral.
On the new track, Rezz says, “I originally started creating this instrumental for Nightmare on Rezz Street but then I started to hear the sweet dreams vocal over top of it. I played around with the vocal and loved the result, but I didn’t want it to be just a cover. So I reached out to fknsyd to help me record the vocal and it came together so organically. I’m really happy with how this turned out and it’s been so cool playing it live and seeing the crowd’s reaction night after night!”

With a massive lineup of collaborators already this year, which includes names such as Runnit, Bass Ventura, Jack the Human and Wreckno, as well as the talent to match her impressive accolades, HerShe is one of the most exciting names to keep on your radar this year. Taking inspiration from multiple electronic music genres, while priding herself on using her platform as a way to spread positive social messages, especially to other aspiring female and LGBTQ+ musicians, HerShe’s talents span from singing and songwriting to beatboxing and DJing, something which is evident in her freshly-released EP.  Titled Breath Control and spanning over 4 tracks, HerShe’s brand new EP includes the previously released single “The MASK,” on top of three brand new tunes that are bound to resonate with her growing audience. Already marking their third release this year, exciting collaborators Ocean Dive, Junona Boys and MØRFI have just teamed up once again to share what might arguably be their most exciting cover to date with “Boys.” Taking on the 2017 original “Boys,” which was released by pop icon Charli XCX, Ocean Dive, Junona Boys and MØRFI’s rendition turns the minimal pop gem into a full-on slap house anthem that’s bound to start lighting up dancefloors across the world in no time. Ocean Dive, Junona Boys and MØRFI are close collaborators, thus having curated an unmatched synergy that is more than apparent on “Boys.” Out via ENFORCE RCRDS, the single immediately kicks off with the help of thumping kicks and our beloved slap house basslines. As the exciting vocals lead listeners towards the drop, the tune sports a short verse break that switches to trap drums and hi-hats, making up for a unique change of pace, before the climax explodes into dance madness. Ocean Dive has had a meteoric rise since he started releasing music back in 2021, managing to sign his debut single “Where It Hurts” to Sony Music Entertainment Sweden, and continuing by releasing music through labels such as One Seven Music and Warner Music Russia. He has been extensively working with ENFORCE RECORDS in 2022, having already released 9 singles since January, and amassed millions of collective streams. Junona Boys is a Ukrainian artist and producer who has built a massive following on social media, as well as amassed millions of streams across platforms through his diverse repertoire of songs and viral covers, most notably his redo of “Relax, Take It Easy” by MIKA. MØRFI on the other hand is one of the most exciting rising names within the slap house genre right now, having extensively worked with the likes of EQRIC and Coopex. His debut release “Hate Me” alongside Besomorph and EQRIC covered Ellie Goulding’s homonymous single featuring Juice WRLD, and has amassed more than 7 million Spotify streams to date, while being featured on editorial playlists such as Main Stage and Dance Brandneu.

Straight from the winding roads of South Italy, we have a new talented which is really stuck on our radar in the name of Falling Decibyls. We are proud to share his latest release, ‘Miss Your Touch’. Featuring emotive vocals, anthemic dark synths and a huge club ready drop. This track is expertly crafted from start from finish grabbing the lister with the unique samples and driving signature Decibyls sound. We had the opportunity to catch up with this rising star.

How did you get into focusing on an electronic music career as Falling Decibyls?
I became more focused on an Electronic Music career because of my fascination with the sound design. I had been listening to a lot of New Age/Electronic music at the time and I was amazed at how the producers were mixing traditional songs with modern sounds. This led to me wanting to explore the ways I could be involved in music production in this genre. I was always playing in orchestras and bands but I knew that I wanted to produce my own music and the electronic genre was the most interesting one to me.
What type of electronic genres do you enjoy the most?
I enjoy listening to Dance, Electro House, Future House, Progressive House, Trap and some forms of Trance.
Do you have a favorite show that you’ve played?
My most favorite show was playing at Genesis in Toronto.
What advice would you give to producers who are trying to achieve success in the music industry?
My advice to music producers would be to surround yourself with a good team. Having the right engineers and vocalists will help immensely. It is also important to know how to promote your music. Networking is so important and this will guide you in meeting the people who will be a part of your team and push your project forward. I couldn’t have done what I have accomplished without a great bunch of individuals in my life. And always pursue your passion. Don’t worry too much about the numbers or streams. It will all come as long as you are focused on your creativity and goals.
Was the COVID lockdowns a benefit or a hindrance to your artistry/career?
COVID did pose some technical problems for my career. Sometimes my vocalists couldn’t get into the studio due to them being closed. Sometimes I couldn’t get engineers to mix and master for the same reasons. Also, a lot of people were somewhat depressed during this time making it difficult to be creative and driven. I did however put out a lot of music during this time and COVID taught me a lot about how to be patient and persistent. A lot of masterpieces can come out of adverse and difficult times so always stay the course.
What is in store for Falling Decibyls for the rest of 2022?
Falling Decibyls is working on many more tracks and will be releasing new music consistently in 2022. I will also be introducing a new character and theme for my artwork designs. I am constantly trying to stay current and bring music and visuals that will stimulate the heart and mind. Watch out for some deep and driven music as well as inspiring and stimulating marketing.

Summer is just about here, and one excited we’re really excited about is the debut of ÜLÉ, coming to Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas City, MO June 24-25.
Brothers Austin Laing and Jake Laing are hometown heroes in the event creation space and music scene. They started throwing massive house parties in 2014, and since then, their Project Laing company has made enormous strides. Having a deep desire to push the limitations of what locals in Kansas City can handle, ÜLÉ Music & Arts Festival is their pride and joy, infusing this 2-day event with as much local flavor as they can, from the food vendors and suppliers, to the staff. Their intrinsic desire to contribute to the city that’s given them so much makes the work put in for ÜLÉ a labor of love.
The inauguration of ÜLÉ will feature massive headliners Slander on Friday, June 24th and RL Grime on Saturday June 25th. The supporting acts are nothing short of diverse and on-trend. Performing Friday is a a coveted DJ set from Jai Wolf, along with superb singer/songwriter/producer/DJ Elohim, and others. Joining Saturday are sure to be incredible sets from the likes of Ekali, Sebastian Paul, and Jooby Truth, to name a few.
Hosted at a location many Kansas City natives will be familiar with, Children’s Mercy Park – recently labeled the #4 highest rated venue in the USA – has been a spot for several renowned festivals including Farm Aid, Flatlands Country Music Festival, and Buzz Beach Ball. Capable of executing cutting-edge audio and world class visual production, there couldn’t be a better spot in Kansas City for these headlining and supporting names to come do what they were born to do.
Check out the video below for a taste of what to expect this year. If you don’t have travel plans, you just might want to put this on your itinerary!
