SadBois, Caslow And Micah Martin Team Up For Epic Rocktronic Anthem, “In Love”

Hailing from Long Island, SadBois embrace the raw, emotional side of rocktronic music. They began 2022 by performing as special guests on ARMNHMR’s Waiting For Love Tour. Since their debut performance, they have tacked on a number of local shows in NYC, including direct support for Puppet, as well as opening for Said The Sky in Syracuse for his Sentiment tour. William Black played their cover of “Check Yes Juliet” on his tour, Illenium played their remix with VNDETTA of 408’s “Backfired” on his radio show, Phoenix Radio, and Mazare included multiple releases in his long-standing Paracosm radio series with Insomniac. 
Caslow is a North American pop-punk inspired melodic bass duo consisting of Brody Low and Natale Castelli. Caslow’s sound is a fusion of euphoric melodic bass drops and catchy pop-punk guitars, mixed with inspiring lyrics and nostalgic themes that pull on the heartstrings. Caslow has performed alongside MitiS, JVNA, Yetep and recently had their first festival performance at Groove Cruise Miami 2023 where they had the opportunity to close out main stage. Caslow has received support from industry heavyweights such as Gryffin, Alison Wonderland, ARMNHMR, Tritonal, Nurko, Excision, Adventure Club, and Illenium. 
Now these two artists have joined forces, along with Micah Martin, for their epic rocktronic anthem, “In Love”. It’s the perfect blend of pop punk and electronic music, packed with euphoric synth melodies and breathtaking guitar parts. Martin’s voice is the cherry on top, giving this every feeling of a summertime anthem to sing along to. Natale from Caslow shares “I personally couldn’t see any other vocalist fitting the track as well asMicah and his unique voice.”

UK DJ/producer Boxer and Los Angeles-based songwriter/producer RYTERBAND are two artists who continue to impress us with their versatility in the studio and on stage. Over the years, Boxer has performed at some of the world’s most renowned venues including Ministry of Sound (London), Eden (Ibiza) & Warehouse Project (Manchester). Having performed at Anjunadeep Explorations in Albania and the Colorize Colorscapes ADE showcase in 2022, 2023 is already shaping up to be a bigger year for Boxer.
RYTERBAND cut his teeth in the TV/film industry as a composer and music editor. He has contributed to over 50 TV shows and movies, including Euphoria, Brooklyn 99, The Man Who Fell To Earth, and The Umbrella Academy. He has also scored advertisements for Cadillac, Budweiser, Ikea, and Payless Shoes. As a singer and frontman, he has performed throughout LA, including appearances at The Roxy, House of Blues, and dozens of other venues.
Now, the two have joined forces again for their mesmeric melodic house single “Looking For Shelter” via Lane 8’s ‘This Never Happened’ imprint. It’s beautiful from start to finish, driven by a thumping bass line, soft synth plucks, and a dreamy vocal.

Four Ted, Fred again.. & Skrillex added as last minute surprise Coachella headliners

It’s been officially announced that Four Tet, Fred again.., & Skrillex will be headlining Coachella’s main stage on Sunday as they’ll fill in for Frank Ocean’s previous slot. The announcement comes after the trio sold out their last minute rave at the Madison Square Garden this year after a series of surprise events in NY and London.
Skrillex has recently teased the idea of new music dropping, following his two albums released earlier this year, whilst Fred again.., and Four Tet have been spotted working on new music together in New York.

Rita Ora flips 1999 Fatboy Slim hit “Praising You” in energetic new single

The recent trend of reviving 90s dance classics for the modern day with new pop singers is getting truly tired by now, but we still get some great results every once in a while, especially when it’s done with reverence and respect for the original material. Rita Ora has a strong history of her own in dance music, working with Sigala, Avicii, Clean Bandit, Tiësto, Sigma, DJ Fresh, and more. (It’s actually crazy she hasn’t worked with Calvin Harris yet.) That’s to say, she knows what she’s doing and what the scene is about.
When she originally wrote the first draft of “Praising You” with Romanian producer Serben, it was their dream to flip “Praise You” by Fatboy Slim but they had no idea if it would become a reality.
“Honestly, I had to chase [Fatboy Slim] down 3:00 AM at Glastonbury,” Rita told Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1. “I was there at his set. I was ready, waiting. Also a massive fan. But 3:00 AM to talk business is not the right thing to do. It’s a rave of classic. This is a cultural, incredible moment, especially in the nineties. Fatboy Slim’s Praise You was a moment.”
She continued, “And then he turned around and he said, ‘You know what? I’ve heard a lot of people trying to do something like Praise You or take it or flip it. And I’ve held back for so many years and I’m going to give it to you.’ And I was like, ‘Why?’ And he said, ‘Because your perspective is different.'”

Daft Punk reveals second single off RAM 10th anniv. edition album, “GLBTM (Studio Outtakes)”

Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories 10th Anniversary Edition is officially out in just three weeks, and today the French duo has shared the second “single” from the deluxe edition, “GLBTM (Studio Outtakes).”
GLBTM (Studio Outtakes) is an early and raw version of what will end up as Give Life Back To Music before any production was added to the track. It gives listeners a look at the evolution of the track, and showcases the importance of all elements of the track and how they work together to create the final result.
This work in progress gives an intimate look at the experimentations that are part of this process and at what has been given up and left on the cutting room floor. These outtakes can be viewed as a research record – listeners can hear multiple inspirations and multiple directions of what the song could have evolved into before Daft Punk chose the part to focus on to finalize what we’ve been knowing as Give Life Back To Music for 10 years.
With Random Access Memories 10th Anniversary Edition (which includes 35 minutes of unreleased music across 9 tracks), Daft Punk pulls the curtain back to reveal some intimate moments of the creative process from the making of the pivotal and celebrated 2013 album.

This expanded edition will be available on May 12th in various formats: 3 LPs, 2 CDs, streaming, and download.

Today marks 5 years since the world lost Avicii

Five years ago today, I was at a festival in Florida with little to no cell service when suddenly the screens started showing “RIP Avicii.” It was an odd joke, I thought at the time, but very quickly a murmur started to permeate the crowd. I found my way to the media area with access to WiFi and discovered the terrible truth, that the world had lost Tim Bergling, aka Avicii.
Avicii was such an incredibly powerful force in dance music. His loss has continued to be felt every year since and today on the fifth anniversary of his death, we still celebrate his life and legacy.
Tomorrowland One World Radio, just as an example, is dedicating an entire day of programming to Avicii today. Enjoy it here.

Skrillex teasing TWO MORE albums coming out this year

After already releasing Quest For Fire and Don’t Get Too Close in February, Skrillex isn’t done yet.
This morning, April 19, he put two more albums on our radar: SKRLX and CONTRA.
Last week, at a surprise party with Jyoty in Brasil, we heard of a possible third album. That’s now been confirmed as well as a fourth.
Speculation within different Skrillex communities has exploded in regards to the albums’ content or release dates. Many believe one will be released during his Red Rocks show, much like DGTC was during the MSG performance. Fans also theorize one album will be more Latin-influenced material and the other will be more throwback material.
Ultimately, we won’t find out anything until we hear from the man himself.

Porter Robinson brings Madeon on main stage at Coachella to perform “Shelter”

Six years ago, Porter Robinson and Madeon concluded their incredible “Shelter” tour run with back-to-back weekends on the main stage of Coachella. This year, Porter returns solo to (potentially) conclude his Nurture tour run, but he couldn’t help showering a little nostalgia on the crowd who was probably there over half a decade ago.
During his set in the late afternoon on Sunday, Porter Robinson brought out Madeon on the Coachella main stage to play “Shelter” to recreate one of the duo’s biggest performances of their career.
With all of the EDM acts at the festival this year holding major stage spots, like Calvin Harris, Chris Lake, Eric Prydz, and more, this was likely one of the biggest moments of the weekend.

Nihil Young Discusses New Mesmeric Remix To Talal’s Single “Lorean” Via Where The Heart Is Imprint

Nihil Young’s consistent output of highly expressive electronic music — notorious for a deeply melodic, gripping and arbitrary journey, tells us more about him than words ever could. Whether releasing finely-tuned techno built firmly for the clubs, or cutting-edge progressive fit for main stages across the globe, his dynamic and masterful soundscapes overflow with emotion and are delivered in what feels like an ‘effortless’ manner. His gift for evoking emotion through mesmerizing synthesizers, precise percussion, and powerful, driving grooves is ultimately what labels of the highest order such as Yotto’s Odd One Out, Nora En Pure’s Purified, Toolroom, Kittball and Zerothree began to notice.
Now, he’s back with a mesmeric remix, a true prog track, to Talal’s single “Lorean” via David Hohme’s amazing Where The Heart Is imprint. As expected, Nihil Young showcases just how talented he is in the studio with a flurry of entrancing synth melodies and eerie bass stabs, all while keeping the beauty of the original at the center.
We had a chance to catch up with Nihil Young to discuss his new remix. Check it out below!
What elements of Talal’s original track did you want to keep, and what did you want to change?
I kept one of the mean leads but turned it into a groover rather than a melody. The original is very peculiar, and it’s an 80s-inspired downbeat with chill and cute melodies which I could hardly fit into my current sound, so I had to come up with something different, trying to retain the sweet feel of it but turning it into something tougher.
What is the most important aspect of a successful remix?
There are a lot of factors involved: the success of the originals in the first place, the label releasing it, the placements (whether DSPs support it / like it or not), and much more. Sonically speaking, if vocals or peculiar melodies/sounds are involved, it will behoove the remixer to come up with something original and different rather than just rearranging the original or changing its speed and just a handful of sounds. To each their own, I always try to do something else entirely and retain a few sounds from the original.
How has your sound evolved over the years, and where do you see your sound going next?
I started with melodic Techno and House and moved on to Techno and Tech House, returning to more melodic sounds.
Looking back at my catalog, I always struggled to stick to a specific sound. I had a lot of distractions and mishaps over the years that kept me from finding my sound, mastering it, and sticking to it. I’m pretty close now, finally happy and satisfied with my sound design skills, having found my instruments, etc.
I intend to keep delivering melody-based, tough beats with more attention to sound design and particular techniques, go back to using my voice, various forms of sampling, and always keep an open ear and mind regarding whatever new technology may arise. Some countless instruments and plug-ins are constantly re-shaping the game and are worth looking into.
What was your first reaction when you were approached to do a remix for Talal’s “Lorean” on Where The Heart Is Records?
I tried to juggle my ridiculous releasing schedule, doing my best to deliver a remix to my friend Talal and to a lovely label I have never had the pleasure of working with.
What do you hope listeners take away from your remix of Lorean?
Any perception of any depth, emotion, positive thought, enjoyable groove or even a single sound they might like.

Deadmau5, Steve Aoki, & Zedd to cameo in new The Muppets Mayhem series on Disney+

Disney+ is set to premiere a new Muppets series called The Electric Mayhem, following the efforts of Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem as they create their first album in 45 years. The band consists of Dr. Teeth on vocals and keyboards, Animal on drums, Floyd Pepper on vocals and bass, Janice on vocals and lead guitar and Zoot on saxophone. In season five of the show, Lips joined the band on trumpet.
Various cameos from rock and music legends are featured in the series including Tommy Lee from Motley Crue, Lil Nas X, Paula Abdul, Kesha, Morgan Freeman, Danny Trejo and more. At one point in the series while the group is trying to find their “sound,” record exec Nora (Lilly Singh) has them meet with various producers, including Zedd, Deadmau5, and Steve Aoki.
The show begins streaming May 10 exclusively on Disney+.
