Hearing Kaskade and deadmau5, together, drop “Ghosts ‘N’ Stuff” at the LA Memorial Coliseum twelve years after the last Electric Daisy Carnival there was an incredibly nostalgic moment. But it was not the only thing that made the LA-debut of Kx5 special.
50,000 fans descended into downtown Los Angeles this past Saturday, December 10 for the first ever headlining show at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum with electronic music act Kx5. According to Pollstar, the show broke records landing it as the largest single-day concert event headlined by an electronic music artist ever in North America with Billboard confirming Kx5 at the Coliseum as the biggest ticketed global headliner dance event of 2022.
Illenium once held the title as he headlined Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. Not long after, Kaskade himself might have usurped the title as he headlined the newly minted SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, at which deadmau5 ironically played as direct support.
The show faced technical difficulties around an hour into the set as one of the generators for the stage caught fire and power went down plunging the stage into blackness. However, the show was back up and running in around 20 minutes and the venue allowed Kx5 to play past curfew to finish the show.
Over the course of the set, deadmau5 and Kaskade performed on pods that rotated and moved across the stage while fireworks and flames burst overhead. Dazzling crowds, 300 drones flew high above the Coliseum’s iconic torch and supporting arches creating unique formations including a configuration of the state of California and flashing words “Welcome LA,” and song titles “Alive” and “Escape.”
The triumphant live show from Kx5 has them joining a significant roster of musical acts to have headlined the Coliseum including the Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, U2, Metallica and Prince just to name a few. The show was a prestigious honor as part of the “Coliseum Forever” event series celebrating the 100th anniversary of the venue.

Today RÜFÜS DU SOL and Crania have announced Sundream Baja, the next chapter of the band’s iconic boutique festival concept. Debuted in Tulum earlier this year, the immersive experience will take over El Ganzo Sculpture Gardens in San José del Cabo from May 5-8. Attendees can expect four days of parties, wellness activities, art installations, intimate DJ sessions and live performances from some of the band’s closest kin and inspirations.
The lineup continues with Rose Avenue riser Luke Alessi, minimal tech heroine Yulia Niko, amapiano champion Desiree, and Swedish producer and DJ Jonas Rathsman who will also bring his Modern Tales project to the mix alongside brother Franz Novotny. Experimental techno duo Weval will round out the billing with their left of center sound, while Jimi Jules, whose groundbreaking ‘My City’s On Fire’ may well have been the ultimate tune of Sundream 2022, makes his much anticipated debut at the event.
As a continuation of the band’s dedication to shining a light on the lesser known and avant-garde movement leaders, Spanish-born underground champion Arodes joins the all-star cast alongside Mexico City staple Maria Nocheydia, Tulum-based DJ and producer Litos, and fellow Mexican underground champion Kalexis to round out the stacked lineup.
Sundream Baja has found its next home at the idyllic El Ganzo Sculpture Gardens. This unique venue is less than ten minutes from the center of San Jose Del Cabo, tucked away just behind the beaches of Los Cabos where the Pacific Ocean touches the desert gardens of Baja. This vast 12-acre park land is home to a stunning collection of monolithic sculptures by some of Mexico’s most famous living artists, while also housing thousands of cacti, succulents and palms from deserts around the world. The gardens are designed to honor cactus in all its forms, in the tradition of the indigenous people of Mexico.

Already prolific on the New York City Scene for her dance, choreography and films, Andrea Ward has been working on being a quadruple threat by recently displaying her talent for music. Already a multi-instrumentalist and singer, Ward has released a series of tracks in the run up to the release of her debut album, Ribbon of Water, due out in late January. Inspired by Nordic folk and experimental pop artists like Bjork and Glass Animals, her sound is rich and genre-neutral. But is it electronic?
The first tracks Ward released in 2021, “My Only Life” and “Keep Me Awake,” are pretty clearly mostly acoustic, save for some sound design on the layered vocals and the engineering. A cross between jazzy and esoteric in nature, Ward’s songwriting makes her work both modern and timeless at the same time. As we get into her more recent tracks, “Game,” “Algorithm” and “Awake at Night,” which just released late last month, more elements of what many would call electronica seem to appear. The overlapping vocals are there, and the highly technical engineering, but also the melody appears to have been born of the digital world. Or is it?
The answer is no, those pingy, glockenspiel-like melodies are acoustic too. The more hippie-ish among us may already recognize that the melodies are made by the tongue drum, or hand pan, played by the eternally versatile Ward herself. This beautiful and deceptive instrument, along with the sound design and expertly honed ambient work is what gives ward’s newest tracks their electronic vibe, but are they actually electronic?
While certainly not EDM, artists like Ward and her predecessors like Bjork are definitely able to come up with a vibe that has the underpinnings of ambient electronica. It’s a balance that’s being struck more and more as the Burner set of hippies goes more rave. The tongue drum is one of those crossover tools that, while acoustic, bridges the gap between analog tribal folk and ambient, celestial EDM. It’s all frequency, after all, to loosely quote Bjork, so who cares what the source is? If it resonates with audiences and is true to the artist’s heart, the source is irrelevant.
To that end, the videos that Ward has made to go with these tracks are equally stunning and use a number of media to get the message across. As a filmmaker and dancer, all this art is in Ward and the videos really bring her message together in an even more resonant way. “Awake at Night” is a simple performance video but beautifully shot, while “Game” is an ensemble piece with decadent choreography that not only bridges her worlds of film, music and dance but the worlds of individual people as the three dancers go through the same motions from entirely different perspectives. The video for “Algorithm” is likely the most stark, as Ward uses her dance, mirrors and water to force even more perspective, both visually and emotionally.
As lines continue to blur in art between analog and digital, AI and human-made, artists like Andrea Ward are ahead of the curve because they work with all different media and method without worrying about how they’ll be classified. EDM, electronic or not, work like this speaks to listeners and viewers and feelers on so many levels. It’s both digital and organic, and that’s exactly how it should be.
Check out Andrea Ward’s songs and the upcoming album Ribbon of Water on Spotify and don’t miss her other music videos and their “making of” complements on her YouTube page.

Almost four years ago, in March of 2019, The Prodigy frontman Keith Flint unexpectedly died. The band took an extended hiatus after the fact, only exacerbated by the global pandemic, but slowly but surely started to come back with some smaller shows. Now, as we approach the new year, EXIT Festival in Serbia has revealed their lineup for 2023 and the influential electro-punk band will make its first return to the festival stage.
As the band’s founder Liam Howlett explains: “EXIT is our favourite festival! We were there (in Serbia) when a lot of sh*t went down. They hold us in their hearts as a special bend, and we love the people there.”
“Many thought, including the band itself, that The Prodigy would stop performing after the tragedy, but we knew this wouldn’t be the case. The comeback concerts in London showed that the fire in them burns stronger than ever, and the iconic band’s reunion with its favorite, EXIT audience, will surely be the most emotional yet. In July, we will witness a moment of true music history, which will reach its highest point with a special laser projection of Keith Flint,” said the founder and CEO of the EXIT festival, Dušan Kovačević.
In addition, Skrillex also adds the festival to his growing list of headlining performances in 2023, including Hangout and Primavera.
See the first batch of artists announced below. Early-bird tickets are on sale from 87 EUR +b/f.  Tickets can be purchased here. The sunniest Holiday Offer begins on Thursday, December 15 — with each purchased ticket for EXIT 2023, fans will get a ticket for one of EXIT’s seaside festivals as a gift.

Leave it to the legendary brotherly duo, Orbital, to flip an old nursery rhyme into a hypnotic club ready track. They recently announced their 10th album ‘Optical Delusion’, due mid February, and paired the announcement with their sizzling techno-punk single, “Dirty Rat” with Sleaford Mods.
Now, the boys are back, this time linking up with noteworthy UK musical ensemble The Mediaeval Baebes for “Ringa Ringa (The Old Pandemic Folk Song)“. It’s a chugging, cyclical Orbital groove that locks you in wonderfully, as The Mediaeval Baebes sing ‘Ring O’Roses’, the innocent nursery rhyme whose roots are in the Black Death.
Orbital’s Paul Hartnoll says “it was a track made in the pandemic and I felt a real pull to use the vocal from Ring O’Roses, the original pandemic song from the Middle Ages. It made me feel a connection with all those who suffered before without the help of our modern technology. The music reflects the modern world while The Mediaeval Baebes vocals take us back to the times it has happened before, an old song becomes relevant again.“
It’s perfectly unique, another gem in Orbital’s timeless catalogue.

Mallrat released “Wish on an Eyelash” as the lead track from her album Butterfly Blue earlier this year. It was a mere 58 seconds long. But now, she’s teamed up with The Chainsmokers for Pt. 2, a sequel and an extension of the original.
The first 58 seconds of the sequel are pretty much identical to the original, then, as you might guess, Drew’s voice comes in and the song becomes a soft duet. Sonically, the collaboration mirrors The Chainsmokers’ latest album foray into a LoFi sound, but it also meshes brilliantly with Mallrat’s own voice.
The collaboration arose after The Chainsmokers shared their love for ‘Wish On An Eyelash’ online; “Made a lil remix of @lilmallrat wish on an eyelash. The song is too good to only be 40 seconds long.” Mallrat replied and sent them the stems.
Three weeks later, The Chainsmokers shared a cut of the version on a recent social post, stating “I’ve listened to this song by @lilmallrat everyday and I love it so much but it’s only :58 long so we did a little thing and made it longer. enjoy love you @lilmallrat“.
Of the release, Mallrat — aka Grace Shaw — shares “the original ‘Wish On An Eyelash’ is a short, one minute introduction to my album and was never promoted as a single – but there must be something a bit magic about it, because in the last few months it has stood out as something that really resonates with people and now has a life of its own.”
Grace adds, “a few weeks ago I was completely taken by surprise when I logged on to Twitter to see The Chainsmokers had remixed the song out of pure love for it – we had never met or talked! For something so big to happen organically like this is really special and really rare. I am so excited for this interpretation of my track to be an introduction to a whole new audience. Thank you to The Chainsmokers.”
When you see this one performed live, expect Drew to walk out on the catwalk in the crowd with a single spotlight on the microphone as he asks the crowd to put their lighters up. Listen below and add to any of your “late night lofi chill” playlists immediately.

GRL GANG, a label and community dedicated to supporting women and non-binary people in dance music, is back again with the biggest installment of their annual Wreck The Halls compilation yet.
The compilation, out today, features eight tracks from some of dance music’s most promising up-and-comers with Dino Shadix, TINYKVT, Kendoll, and more offering fresh tracks to feast on. For this Your EDM premiere, we’ve chosen to focus on onumi’s track “FALLCATCHER,” a blistering four-and-a-half minute bass-filled journey.
“FALLCATCHER” has plenty of winter-themed motifs to lick your lips at, if, maybe, it was a hellish winter. Beginning with almost TRON-like synths and samples of gears turning in machinery, the melody slowly kicks in ahead of the gut-wrenching drop. Not one to be satisfied with a simple A/B progression, the second drop following another beautiful bridge delves into drum & bass.

The amount of songs Kayzo released in 2020 in the midst of the pandemic is mind boggling, putting out somewhere along the lines of 14 tracks including his The Year The World Stood Still EP. Toward the beginning of the year, he clearly had rock and metal on his mind, though, teaming up with Atreyu and Bad Omens.
Now, almost three years later, Atreyu and Kayzo have teamed up again for “Depression Season,” a fitting reference to seasonal affective disorder many of us experience during the winter months when the sun sets extra early.
While their previous collaboration, “Battle Drums,” leaned a little heavier on the EDM side, “Depression Season” swings in the other direction. Former lead vocalist Alex Varkatzas is out of the band and Brandon Saller’s new vocals shine throughout the track, there’s less of a concrete “drop,” and the arrangement of the songs is much closer to that of a rock song than an EDM track.
For Kayzo fans, this is the perfect combination. Check out “Depression Season” below.

Nirvana’s classic track “Something In The Way” experienced a massive resurgence of interest following the release of the latest Batman film with Robert Pattinson, and now Australian darlings RÜFÜS DU SOL have headed to the triplej offices for their own interpretation in the latest Like A Version.
Lifted from Nirvana’s iconic 1991 record Nevermind, the cover marks RÜFÜS DU SOL’s first Like A Version in eight years, having last covered Foals’ “My Number” and Booka Shade’s “Charlotte” in 2014. For reference, the group didn’t even release their mega-hit “Innerbloom” until 2016.

REZZ launched her new label HypnoVizion back in October with the release of her own Nightmare on Rezz Street 2. Now, a just about a couple months later comes the first external-artist release and what an incredible opportunity to revive the amazing project that is isqa.
Jordan Orcaz, from Southern California, first adopted the name isqa in 2013 with the release of a 10-track debut album titled Tetraform. A handful of EPs on DUSTLA, remixes, and independent releases followed before Orcaz decided to shift gears and focus on a new project. No Mana, the second project from Orcaz, showed a transition from the left-field sound of isqa to productions revolving around melodies, vocals and dance-centric rhythms.
“REZZ and I became friends in 2014 when she shot me a message on SoundCloud – which is a trip to go back and read considering how far she’s gone (she was 10 months into producing when we started talking). At the time I was transitioning into mainly making music as No Mana, but I owe it to her for supporting my weird side in her sets and inspiring me to restart the project again.” – isqa
Now curating the sound of her label HypnoVizion, which launched in October 2022, REZZ has enlisted isqa for the first release aside from her own.
REZZ first started to lure Orcaz back to his roots in dark, experimental electronic music when she played an old isqa track, “Ghosts,” at Electric Daisy Carnival 2022, catching the attention of her fans. Orcaz spent the following 5 months producing a 30-minute audio-visual project, “i should’ve been dead,” to premiere new music under the isqa title, and continued to build up a catalog of unreleased tracks before joining HypnoVizion for the release of i 4ove you.
True to form and as if the project never left, i 4ove you is replete with glittering synths, intricate sound design, beautiful melodies, and arrangements that feel just familiar enough to feign familiarity. If this is the direction that HypnoVizion is headed in overall, we’re due for some very exciting releases as the label grows and evolves.

Video games love tapping EDM artists for themes, collaborations, and activations. Obviously you can look at Riot Games who work with plenty on Valorant and League of Legends, but Fortnite, GTA, even Devil May Cry have historically worked with electronic artists to give their franchises some extra hype.
Now, it seems that Marvel’s latest venture into the mobile game world, MARVEL SNAP, has called upon Martin Garrix and JVKE for their new song “Hero.” Sonically, it sounds a lot like a song you would get from the Riot Games library, which makes it really interesting to consider what vibe the mobile card battling game gives for those who haven’t played.
Regardless, the song sounds new and fresh from someone like Martin Garrix and it’s quite easy to keep on repeat. Check it out below!

The music industry is an entertainment scene that has drawn significant attention and competition since time immemorial. Almost everyone likes music, although people’s favourite genres and classifications will always vary. Similarly, the music industry is highly competitive, and there’s no magic to succeeding; you need to put in consistent effort to remain on track. You will only be considered a successful musician or artist when you hit the industry headlines, amass millions of streams and followers, and earn an adequate income to sustain your lifestyle. Consistency, hard work, focus, and resilience are essential factors that can help to propel a musician into the limelight and disrupt the music airwaves.
Facading is a celebrated and successful artist and producer based in Oslo, Norway, who has worked his way up to attain millions of streams on Spotify. Born as Nikolai Håland, the 23-year-old quickly found his feet in mid-tempo electronic music. He is celebrated for blending traditional electronic vibes with modern influences. Facading promptly made a name for himself on the much-admired Trap Nation. With stable
releases like “Walk Away,” “Crossed the Line,” and “Freefalling,” he rapidly became a fan favorite representing the utmost legitimacy within electronic music. While EDM is a minor genre in Norway, Facading is one of Norway’s biggest EDM producers today. After signing to one of the UK's most prominent labels, NCS, he has several hits and over 320,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. Moreover, Facading has numerous releases on the most prominent EDM curator on YouTube with over 30 million subscribers, Trap Nation.
Facading is undoubtedly riding on the glory of a successful music career. To date, the enthusiastic artist has overwhelmingly garnered over 20 million streams on Spotify alone and over 50 million streams on all music platforms. He is pleased to be one of Norway’s biggest EDM producers on Spotify. However, Facading revealed that his path to success was no walk in the park, especially when he entered the music industry. But through sheer hard work, he managed to overcome the challenges as a new artist in the industry by networking with the right people, which eventually paid off.

When asked about the secret behind his successful career, Facading had this to say, “To become a successful musician, you should work hard, don’t be too obsessed with trends, have fun in general, and surround yourself with like-minded people.” “Music is a game of fame, and fame can be infectious. It is, therefore, necessary to have a connection and good relationship with fellow industry colleagues to become and remain a successful musician. Many prosperous musicians have established their celebrity through their relationships with other musicians. Meeting others in the industry is a tool for budding musicians,”
Facading asserted. Facading also emphasises that the music industry favours hardworking and talented people. A good number of musicians did not rise by themselves but were instead elevated through the inspiration of top artists. Failure to interact with these like-minded people may lead to a slow success rate. When asked about his dreams and aspirations, Facading responded:
“I see myself continuing to produce music, generating the millions of streams that I am at the
moment, but to a larger degree. I also see myself getting booked bigger shows.”

The dance floor is a place where the pulse of good music can take away any worries and anxieties as we get lost in the rhythm. It’s an outlet for us to be free and lose ourselves, a way to escape from our everyday lives. Much has changed in the music space recently, and many may even argue it's too long since we had quality music.
Forget the auto-tuned songs with a catchy beat that can only be listened to for 30 seconds without getting bored. The best kind of music is meaningful music created by artists who put their heart and soul into it because they have something to say. For over 25 years, DJ Ghost of Cherry Moon Trax has been producing old-school dance music that takes us back with a nostalgic feel and unique sounds drawing on classic
disco, funk, and soul sounds from the 80s and 90s. With his signature sound and style, he takes the dance floor back to an era where the variety was abundant, authenticity thrived, and good music prevailed. Created in a time before CDs and USB sticks became popular for DJs who wanted to play at events and clubs, DJ Ghost’s tracks are produced authentically from synthesizers, drum machines, analog gear, and turntables.
With their superb quality and energetic sound, his productions take you on an exhilarating ride to any era of your choice, eliciting feelings many people have felt before.
“The sound of old-school dance music is as familiar to many people now as the taste of homemade apple pie, DJ Ghost says:
“The disco era left its mark on our culture, with songs we still hear blasting out at every nightclub. It’s a rich history, full of stories and great memories. In the past, DJs had to rely on their own creativity and talent to produce music that would get people on the dance floor. The process of producing music was more time-consuming but with an artist’s touch lacking today. Today, it seems like everything is filtered through autotune or vocoders, and in a sense, it takes away from our individuality as human beings”
Even though music is more available in this era, finding something that catches and maintains your attention long enough in what appears like a sea of mediocrity is challenging. The type of music you find on streaming platforms blends into one long and boring composition you can’t find the motivation to dance to. A seasoned expert in dance music, DJ Ghost’s compositions bring that feeling back with a unique sound
that’s different from most contemporary DJs in today’s modern world.
“This is my life, this is what I do” says DJ Ghost when asked about the longevity of his career as an artist. He speaks passionately about how he loves to make people happy through his production and his future plans. The multitalented producer has played worldwide, from New York, Miami, and Chicago, to all capitals in Europe. He performed at global festivals like I Love Techno, Rave Rebels, Qlimax, Sensation, Reverze, Decibel, and Parookaville, to name a few. He aims to produce more music through his label and playing on big world stages.

Josh Teed is a versatile, classically trained, and technical musician who picked up the violin at the tender age of 3 years old, going on to win the Florida Fiddle Championship at 9. Now, his productions pay tribute to some of his electronic influences such as Charlesthefirst, CloZee and Govinda while still remaining unique and properly showcasing his vast expertise in instrumentalism. His live sets incorporate violin, didgeridoo, and live analog synthesis overlaid on top of every element of a great DJ set, keeping listeners engaged and entranced for every second he has the stage.
This talented rising star recently returned to CloZee’s Gravitas Recordings with his highly anticipated album ‘Recurring Dreams‘. From start to finish, Josh blurs the line between electronic and live music, using his strong musical talent in unique ways to create his signature sound.  With live instrumentation blended with his heavy bass production, Josh has been making waves in the scene and offering something truly special.
It’s hard to pick favorites on this album, but “Nightmare Sonata” opens up experience wonderfully, featuring another break through artist, Daggz. Together, they fuse beautiful violin melodies with driving hip hop beat, building into an electrifying bass drop .
“Memories Of A Past Life” opens up into a dreamy atmosphere exploring into the diverse sound he is capable of, very tastefully throwing in heavier bass elements but clearly showing a shift in energy to tease the rest of the album.  “Elysian Forest” truly shows the diverse range of Josh Teed, and brings all the energy together for an unreal blend of downtempo and heavy dubstep with a massive final drop.  “Zones Of Reality” ends the album with beautiful instruments and rides the line between his chill and heavier sides of this release, a perfect final showcase of his sound.
“Recurring Dreams was a labor of love, taking just over 2 years to finish. The vision behind it was to push the envelope in regards to the marriage of instrumentalism and melody, with experimental sound design and heavy bass. There is an immense range throughout the project, from dark and heavy tunes, to the beautiful and ethereal side, I wanted it to encompass the full range of emotion.” – Josh Teed
Altogether, ‘Recurring Dreams’ is an album that feels instantly timeless. Listen below!
