New Artist Spotlight: Trap Artist Nana Bangz Could Be the Next Big Name in Rap [Video]

Hip hop and rap seem to be at a crossroads in recent years. The single-verse mumble rappers of the mid-to-late 2010s seem to be falling off, and the genre has split into two camps: the smooth, stylized verse barons like Jack Harlow who call back to the golden age of rap a’la Snoop Dogg, and the super-fast Mac Miller followers like Megan Thee Stallion who are articulate and precise but with a little less swag. A select few rappers can do both; Nana Bangz is one of them.
With a fully late 90s aesthetic and channeling Lil’ Kim energy on steroids, Nana’s verses are about as tight as they come and her freestyle game matches her huge performance personality. With her first singles out in 2018, it seems Nana came out of the gate swinging, with a well-developed style and an ability to wind her verses around the beat with a proficiency that takes many artists decades. From her intro brag track called “Show Me Love” setting an impressive baseline, things only got better from there as Nana continue to hone her craft. From 2021’s “Free Britney” through the 15 or so tracks she’s released in 2022 and 2023, Nana continued to showcase her diverse style and mastery of the mic.
Nana’s first track of 2024 is “Alive,” another example of her ability to switch styles and create all types of verse, even within one track. Channeling the aggression of Lady of Rage with the party acumen and dusky vocal timbre or Foxy Brown, “Alive” sees Nana switching from smooth verse style to angry and heavy to whip-fast lyrics all in the space of about a minute. On top of that, the production for “Alive” is quite different, with a classical string sample floating over the beat as one of Nana’s most aggressive lyrical assaults to-date bangs out around it. It’s clear the contrast is in purpose, with the juxtaposition of the melodic music serving to highlight the heaviness of the verse.
With her solid vocals, vocabulary and verse, it seems only a matter of time before Nana Bangz is discovered for the talent she is, but that doesn’t seem to matter to the born natural rapper. A musician to the core, one of the most compelling arguments for her love of hip hop and dedication to her craft is in a video from last year of her street performance in New Orleans. With her music videos being so stylized, this performance video with nothing more than a drummer for backing shows not only Nana’s amazing performance skills but her true love for the verse. Anyone with that mush passion and talent is a star wherever they go.

She’s Excited! Excited to be Back With a New Album, ‘Moments of Sonder’ [Video]

Electronic music and art artist Anne Wichmann went one a bit of a hiatus from her multimedia She’s Excited! project in 2023 to focus on her stripped-down rock project with brother Volker. Initially a combination of rock and darkwave electronica, SuperWAV took a new direction to loud, analog brass tacks rock with the second offering from the siblings, aTypical, released in October of 2023. Unable to stay away, Anne’s back to riding that dark wave with her new She’s Excited! offering, Moments of Sonder.
Released just under four months after SuperWAV’s aTypical, Moments of Sonder picks up where the last She’s Excited! album, Shock Therapy, left off. Also a hard-target concept album, the emotions and philosophies contained within Moments of Sonder are softer and more esoteric than those expressed in its predecessor. The music, whilst still darkwave at its core, expresses that softness and connectedness of the human experience as well. Where Shock Therapy lived up to its name with dissonant tones, gravely vocals and experimental workmanship, Moments of Sonder also channels its name with melodic tones that instill a sense of wonder. The concept of this concept is sonder itself, according to Wichmann.
Given the title and the concept of the album, it makes sense that on Moments of Sonder, almost every track is a collab. With the emotive opener, “Celebrity Parade” a concept within a concept as Wichmann introduces the perspectives of all the other artists via her own perspective. All these other complex worlds, in fact, exist within Wichmann’s own “moment of sonder.” It’s almost a visceral experience, standing inside the mirror ball of Wichmann’s own perspective, looking here and there to see each track with each artists telling their own story. They’re vignettes into the complex worlds of others, but still not the full story.
Taking on this concept of “sonder” also allows for an incredible diversity of sound and even style that one might not normally get on another collab album. Each track is as different as the world it represents. Trap artist Komputer‘s track, “All I Need,” for example, is melodic, desolate and emotional, whilst the very next track, “Alone Together” with Joana Brabo is a spooky musique concrète-style spoken word over a loop. The album runs the gamut from the afore-mentioned trap to post punk to house music to trip hop cheeky nods to vintage adult contempo. It’s all meant to offer different views, and that point of sonder is driven home with each passing track.
Moments of Sonder is about as complex of a concept as one can attempt to cram into an album, but with the way Wichmann has put it together, it doesn’t seem so abstract. With the idea of “sonder” being just a flash of awareness, this album urges the listener to stay in that feeling and experience another perspective, and another, and another, until it doesn’t feel so strange. We’re all connected, after all, and feeling that on such a literal level can never be a bad thing. It could even be the next step in human consciousness evolution. One would expect less nothing less than such an intricate offering from an artist like Wichmann.

Matoma Talks New Music, Touring and Evolving as a Producer [Interview]

A lot has changed in the dance music industry, and the world in general, since Norwegian producer/DJ Matoma last released an album. Back then Matoma was riding a wave of pop-adjacent tropical house music. Now, Matoma returns to his club roots with Love for the Beat.
We got the chance to have a friendly chat with Matoma about his new album, staying relevant in the ever changing dance music industry, and his upcoming new book! Check out our interview below.
Thanks for chatting with us Tom. Tell us how you first got into music and how’d you originally break into the dance music industry?
“Getting into music, I started very early. I started playing the piano when I was seven years old and around nine I really wanted to become a classical pianist, but then at the age of 16, I think I had practiced a bit too much. I felt a lot of pressure on myself, so I said to my family, I said to my dad and my mom, I really want to take a break from the piano and maybe do other things.
And my Dad, he really felt sincere, he was eager to let me know I shouldn’t put music on the shelf, maybe I should do something else with music. So, he showed me a documentary about Stargate, two Norwegian dudes that moved to New York to pursue their producing dream.
And they have produced with Beyonce, Rhianna, all the big names. So, he showed me a documentary about these two guys, and I immediately wanted to start producing music, and that was when I was 16 years old. And since then I’ve been making music. But the whole EDM, and more like electronic music scene, maybe when I was 23.”
Congratulations on Love for the Beat. It’s a great album, and also a great album title. Tell us how your music and production style has changed since your last album in 2018. How do you adapt to the constantly changing tastes in dance music while maintaining a signature sound?
“I think as an artist it’s very important to have a sense of grounded-ness to yourself, to your soul, make music that pleases yourself, but also, evolve as an artist; over the years if I make one song, I made it, I need to make something new, fresh. And, for me, after ‘One in a Million’ I really felt eager to make more of the music that I grew up with. The more danceable, more trancey, more progressive sound.
And ‘Sodium Sky’ came from that, ‘Bittersweet’, ‘Break My Own Heart’, all of these records were molded from my cabin, looking at the Northern Lights. Being inspired by nature and being inspired by Norwegian folk music and melodies. I’ve really tried to implement those elements into my dance songs and really show people my culture, the music I grew up with.
Blend it into today’s sound pushed with a new type of mix and I really felt it was the right moment for me to express myself. But, this year, I’m so pumped, I’m so ready to take the dance floor and I actually played a couple of new records here tonight and they really popped off.”
Fresh off the heels of a full album, what new music can fans expect from you in 2024?
“I think regarding the music for 2024, 2023 for me was a very experimental year, I went a bit darker, in myself, I had to get a lot of these feelings out. This year, it’s all about reconnecting with the good vibes. Giving people the Ibiza-summer vibe. And, again a couple of the songs I teased here tonight, was kind of that vibe. So, I’m really excited and pumped about this year. I’m not saying I’m going to make the best dance album of 2024, but I’m sure going to try and do it.”
How’s the tour been so far in support of the album? When was the last time you were here in Los Angeles? Any favorite restaurants you have to visit when you’re here?
“The mini-tour has been amazing, we’ve done New York, we did Chicago, we’ve done San Francicso, it’s actually been eight months since the last time I was here. And the vibe was the same, it was so good, I don’t know what it is with LA crowds, but they are just so amazing, just something about the vibe here.
When I’m here in LA I really like to eat Mexican, I love Japanese, Ramen and Sushi, I really do love Mediterranean, I think LA has some of the best Mediterranean food, like Shish kebab, shawarma, I love the shawarma.“
I always like to ask artists I interview if they have any book, streaming or podcast recommendations?
“So, I’m actually going to release a book. In a month, March 1st, and it’s called ‘Never Good Enough’, so being a touring artist, for 10 years now, I’ve learned from a lot of different experiences on the road. I’ve met so many different people, experienced stories, inspirational stories, but things that make you really, really appreciate life. And, I think the youth right now, they need guidance. They’re so focused on what’s ahead and what’s behind, but they don’t live in the now, and I think it’s so important for them to get focused on being present, listening to their heart, listening to themselves, not listening to all of the noise.
So, I’m actually writing a book which is 10 different stories about my life, in life-changing moments for me, crossroads where I’ve had to make big decisions, based on my spirit, my soul. And, I want to share that, I hope that it can resonate with the younger generation today and give them some inspiration to believe in themselves, to trust their own inner-spirit and to look in the mirror and say, ‘I’m good enough.’“
Who are some artists you’d like to collab with in the future?
“I would never say no to a Chris Martin collaboration, that would be sick. Or, Will Smith, take it back to Miami.”
Tell the fans out there who didn’t make it what they missed tonight?
“You missed out on a party filled with good vibes, all about spreading the love. What you can expect from me coming up it’s all about the good vibes, bringing back those good sing along records where you can sing, have a good moment, just chill and relax. Matoma out.”

FriendShip 2024 Highlights Including Impromptu Dog Blood Set and 2025 On Sale Info

If you’ve been watching any TV at all during the cold months of January and February, you’ve probably seen commercials for cruise liners. It’s that time of year, escape the cold of wherever you might be in the country and enjoy some sunshine and a semi-tropical environment for a few days. The EDM scene is no different as several notable “festivals at sea” set sail at at this time of year. We’re lucky enough to be able to share some highlights from the fifth edition of Gary Richards’ (AKA Destructo) Friendship.
Sailing from Miami to the private Harvest Caye island in Belize aboard the iconic Norwegian Joy, this year’s edition of the Friendship featured a bevy of surprise b2b performances as well as Destructo’s iconic Sunrise Sermon. We’ve got some video and photo highlights below.
FriendShip 2024 surprised attendees by reuniting Dog Blood (Skrillex and Boys Noize) for an impromptu MainStage set, marking the superduo’s first official performance since 2019.

Destructo delivered his signature Sunrise Sermon set for the first time at FriendShip, which also featured Justin Martin, Bob Moses, and more.
The festival’s epic, four-hour ‘Last Man Standing’ b2b2b closing set featured heavy-hitters like Destructo, Ardalan, Desert Hearts’ Mikey Lion, J.Phlip, and more.
FriendShip’s ‘Dial-A-DJ’ hotline saw artists like Bob Moses, VTSS, Mersiv, and Nala play intimate, once-in-a-lifetime pop-up sets in lucky attendees’ private cabin rooms, using custom mobile DJ rigs.
Destructo has also announced the dates for the 2025 edition of the FriendShip. Sailing February 21-26 of next year, the FriendShip will stay on the Norwegian Joy and follow the same route from Miami to Harvest Caye, Belize and back. ‘Daystar Nocturnal’ – Gianfranco Pescetti Releases the Seminal Album that Was Ten Years In the Making

Last year, Your EDM announced the legendary ambient house and trance artist GIanfranco Pescetti would be returning to EDM in what can only be called a re-debut. The first teaser track “The Wake” off his then upcoming album, Daystar Nocturnal, heralded a new era for Pescetti, not only time-wise but in terms of his style. Now with three more tracks teasing the album for nearly a year, Daystar Nocturnal has confirmed his re-emergence into music, with even more of a focus on that all-important ambient production.
When he originally debuted in 2014 with his first album, Love Is Rain, the promise of Pescetti’s production talent was certainly already there and wildly loved by his fans. It wasn’t, however, strictly electronic and certainly not EDM. More of a melding of indie pop, dream pop and ambient electronica, tracks from the album and the subsequent pop punk hit “All Fall Apart” were billed with other modern and vintage fusion acts like Tycho, Washed Out and the Cocteau Twins. Not a bad number to count oneself amongst, Pescetti nonetheless took a decade-long break from releasing solo work, to the chagrin of the substantial fanbase he’d built with Love Is Rain. It seems, however, that he never stopped producing, only honing his craft.
As an apparent teaser to the teasers, Pescetti released a re-work of the jazz classic “Fly Me to the Moon” in early 2023, a chill house bop which instantly showed that he’d been working on his electronic production lo these ten years. From there, “The Wake” and its subsequent album lead-ups, “Stopless,” “Be My Ghost” and “Clownspunk” also showed that Pescetti didn’t plan to stick to just one genre of electronica, even though the indie pop vibes and vocals of Love Is Rain and “All Fall Apart” were largely gone. While “The Wake,” a mostly ambient breakbeat track had Pescetti’s flare for vintage synths and talent on the bass guitar, “Stopless” was a straight up and down house track with an analog bassline and Goa trance vibes. “Stopless,” another house track bordering on psytrance, gives listeners their first bit of vox but it’s a female sample rather than Pescetti’s own voice, and “Clownspunk,” whose single art matches its cheeky name, has a bass house beat and was released just before the album with a music video which, sticking with the clown theme, is excerpts from Charlie Chaplin’s The Circus, edited to fit the music.
The rest of Love Is Rain contains just as much, if not more variance. It opens with the nearly raucous “Clownspunk” but then launches into two largely ambient tracks, “Macchia, I’ll See You…” and “Obsidian,” a breakbeat electro confection that was clearly inspired by both New Order and Enigma. As one sinks into the meat of the album, a journey or a theme starts to form, with Pescetti’s haunting, Peter Hook-esque bass as it’s ground floor. This is ambient for ambient’s sake, and a beautiful homage to when the new wave of the 80s gave way to the emerging rave music of the 90s, which has now evolved all the way into EDM. Listeners are put on notice that it’s not all a homogenous ambient soundbath, however, as the middle of the album and “Nostalgia Aime Le Rouge” hits, with its experimental beginning and heavy, complex drums. If Pescetti was around back then, this gothy track would have gone right onto the The Crow soundtrack.
More twists and turns and push and pull await the listener in the second half of Daystar Nocutrnal, where ambient turns to fast beats and moody turns to excitement. A masterpiece for his new era and a love letter to electronic music production and all of the artist who’ve come before him (including himself), Gianfranco Pescetti is back and ready to change the ambient EDM scene for the better.

[INTERVIEW] Sasha M Opens Up About Her Incredible Career Thus Far & Recent Single “How To Spot A Narcissist”

Sasha M is a dance-pop sensation from Singapore, who’s garnered quite the buzz around her music, especially her latest single, “How To Spot A Narcissist,” seamlessly blending the introspective edge of electronic music with the infectious rhythms of pop. This track epitomizes the essence of contemporary electro-pop, marked by its vocal intensity and a captivating sonic palette that commands attention.
Sasha M’s musical journey unfolds as a tale of self-discovery and artistic authenticity. We had the opportunity to speak with her about the single and her career thus far. Check it out below!
How has your journey from the vocal trio SASS to a solo artist influenced the evolution of your music style, particularly in your latest single “How To Spot A Narcissist”?
Our girl group was all about empowerment – strong female characters who don’t take nonsense from anybody. Much of my current work retains those values. Having lived in several toxic environments, I firmly believe that you should not be mistreated in any aspect of your life – be it by your boss, your bank, or your boyfriend.
Can you share your experience working with industry experts like Eddie Wohl and Seth Munson, and how these collaborations have shaped your music?
It’s been an honor to get to work with, and learn from, industry experts. As someone from Singapore with no prior connections to the music industry in the US, I’m very fortunate for every opportunity. Working with them showed me what professional quality work looks like and sounds like. It gave me the standards I now uphold in my work moving forward.
“Loaded,” in collaboration with Hasso, achieved significant success on Spotify Germany’s Viral 50 chart. To what do you attribute the international appeal of your music?
I write about universal themes – “Loaded” in particular describes a moment in a toxic relationship where the persona has been gaslighted and is taking the blame for the sorry state of their relationship. Gaslighting is a form of psychological manipulation where the abuser attempts to sow self-doubt and confusion in their victim’s mind. It happens when the abuser doesn’t take accountability for their actions, and it’s a big problem for partners who are empathetic. I believe this is unfortunately a very common occurrence that many people, regardless of location, can relate to.
Your music blends electronic and pop elements. How do you balance these genres to create a unique sound, as evident in “How To Spot A Narcissist”?
I pick my collaborators well. When I started writing this song, I already had an idea of how it should sound – a little darker than my usual music, but still upbeat and pop. Riccardo, who produced the track, has worked with me since 2018 and knows me very well musically. I gave him my idea and he knocked the beat out of the park. Fun fact, I actually wrote the bassline on the chorus! My other co-writer on the track, Lauren, is a master at dark, moody songs. She came up with the vocal hook in the chorus, which is the most EDM part of the song. She also has vocals on this track, lending the pre-chorus a slightly sinister vibe.
What is your creative process for writing and producing music?
I write lyrics and melody, so usually when an idea comes, it’s either melodic or lyrical. I record my ideas as voice notes on my phone, and the ones with the most potential, I bring to collaborators whom I have in mind that would match the vision of that particular song. I love being able to tap into other creative talents’ potential because they always bring something to the table that I can’t on my own. I believe you end up with a better product when you collaborate.
Having performed in diverse settings, from Universal Studios Singapore to the Ultra Music Festival, how do you adapt your performance style to different venues and audiences?
I honestly enjoy performing to large crowds with thousands of people. I’ve not been able to do that with my original music yet, but I will someday. As a performer in someone else’s show, you have to deliver what the show needs. I try to fully understand the requirements and objectives of each show I do, so I can perform to the best of my ability. At the end of the day, the audience’s experience is everything.
You’re known for your commitment to social causes. How do you integrate this passion into your music and artistic expression?
Thank you. I hope to always make a social impact with my work. As you can tell, my songs revolve around mental health themes. Many are dark, but “Beneath The Surface” is a more uplifting one. I hope the songs offer comfort and support to others who are also living through toxic environments. Separately, I also have the honor of my song “Friends” being performed by differently-abled talents from the Inclusive Arts Movement; we made a music video, and they still perform that song live at shows.
In an industry often driven by trends, how do you maintain your artistic integrity and personal style in your music?
I do my best to remain authentic and only pick trends that resonate strongly with me. There’s been a Russian sugar baby comedy shtick trending on social media that I find hilarious and oddly empowering. I leaned heavily on that while I was going through a rough time and made a comedy series of Instagram reels called #FindRichHusband. It’s brought joy to my followers, and people sometimes ask me when my next reel is.
What are your future aspirations in the music industry, and are there any new projects or collaborations we can look forward to?
I want to build an audience of people who truly support and believe in me – no “fake friends.” My biggest supporters pledge to me on Patreon, and in return, I give them a front-row seat into my music journey. Each song on MORE contributes uniquely to the overarching narrative. “US,” the inception point, echoes OVERWERK’s early signature sound, visually represented by a meticulously sculpted digital portrayal amid symbolic rubble. “APART” delves into emotional layers, portraying the OVERWERK sculpture in introspective or reckoning moments amid rubble. “OF” explores industrial and experimental sounds, complemented by visual images of a deconstructed, skeletal OVERWERK, creating an unnerving experience. “SOMETHING,” a mainstream sound on the EP, is accompanied by visuals inspired by M.C. Escher’s “Hand with Reflecting Sphere,” hinting at existential awareness. The final/title track, “MORE,” symbolizes a culmination with the sculpture of OVERWERK’s partner and a reflective sphere, suggesting a profound conclusion—a physical or ego death marking the end of this awe-inspiring project.
We had the opportunity to chat with OVERWERK to learn more about his creativity and the EP. Check it out below!
The “MORE” EP and its accompanying videos seem to weave a complex and captivating narrative. Can you share some insights into the inspiration and creative process behind the EP, both musically and visually?
The EP’s narrative evolved naturally, starting with ‘US’, which I initially intended as a single. The track is a collaboration with EgoSon, a new artist discovered through my Discord community. The track had this unique balance of feelings, and I began to imagine how it mirrored emotional events many of us experience throughout our lives. As each track developed, I envisioned a physical sculpture that could encapsulate the essence of the music and add more meaning to the story unfolding.
The titles of the tracks on “MORE” form a cohesive sentence: “Us, A Part Of Something More.” Can you elaborate on how you integrated the vocal samples of each title into the layers of the music, and how this technique contributed to the overarching theme and storytelling of the EP?
We incorporated scattered vocals into the track ‘US’, but no discernable words emerged. The technique felt new, but the resulting feeling was familiar, like when one is engrossed and unable to find the right words to express their emotions. A moment where the feelings are clear, but the thoughts come after, almost catching up…
Following ‘US’, I created the track ‘A_PART’, which implies separation and the accompanying emotions. The mood expressed in this track is more sombre and contemplative. 
Each song uses vocal samples from the previous, slowly stitching together the story. The EP’s arc builds towards a more optimistic conclusion, with each song serving as a chapter of this journey.
In “SOMETHING,” you mention a visual correspondence inspired by M.C. Escher’s “Hand with Reflecting Sphere,” exploring themes of existential awareness. How do visual arts, particularly iconic works like Escher’s, influence and inform your creative vision, both in terms of music and visual storytelling?
I breathe in art like air. Art is my favourite way of processing information, experiencing stories, and understanding the perspectives of the people who create them. 
In particular, M.C. Escher’s work draws attention to “perspective” and our conscious experience. It’s incredible how he contextualizes these grand reflections and themes within flat pictures. When I create or tell stories through music or visuals, I attempt to do the same.
When I create a song, sculpture, or image, I’m expressing very personal experiences. Honesty of expression helps connect us. I love experiencing the art of others as much as I enjoy creating my own.
Your previous projects, such as “ORIGIN” and “VIRTUE,” have showcased a fusion of digital and hand-crafted elements. How do you decide on the artistic mediums for each project?
I spent years crafting a narrative to complement the song, Virtue. Initially created for a Chanel High-Jewelry campaign, I later developed an entire world around Virtue for its second life. This involved designing digital sculptures that represented the cardinal virtues and the ethical values they symbolize.
I developed the 3D sculpture story for  ‘Virtue’ because I have a strong interest in 3D design. 
The ‘ORIGIN’ project started as 3D art, then progressed to 3D printing, handcrafting, and eventually traditional casting and sculpture making. It was not a conscious decision but rather an evolution driven by my curiosity and interests. I enjoy experimenting with various art mediums to explore the diverse ways one idea can come to life.
Your music has found resonance in the fashion and art communities, with collaborations with prestigious brands like Prada, Vogue, and Chanel. How do you see the relationship between your audio and visual art projects and the world of fashion and luxury brands, and how do these collaborations influence your creative direction?
Fashion, although slightly more commercialized, is a form of self-expression, just like music or art. People use it to tell stories and convey their thoughts and emotions. It’s only natural that music, having the same goal, would easily align with these brands.
All of my brand relationships have emerged serendipitously. A designer or creative director will contact me and say, “Hey, this is what we’re doing, and it seems to align perfectly with your music.” I get involved with projects that feel like natural pairings.
I want any collaboration I work on to extend the vision of the work, be it mine or theirs, in service of the art and the story. My ultimate goal is for the listener or audience to gain something from these collaborations.

To coincide with the release of “Close To You,” Volaris announces a special live stream event in February, hosted at Defected Records’ London venue. This live stream serves a dual purpose—showcasing Volaris’ music while fundraising for Addenbrooke’s Hospital, a crucial institution in his personal battle against cancer. Volaris expresses the significance of using his label as a platform to give back to those who provided support during challenging times.

HI-LO (Oliver Heldens) and Space 92 have teamed up for the GENESIS EP. Featuring the title track and the blisteringly quick-paced ORION, this is a showcase for two artists who never fail to push the envelope on production as well as a snapshot of a moment where techno has become ascendant.
“What’s great about working with Space 92, besides that we match so well musically,” HI-LO says, “Is that he also has such a positive energy. He’s also open-minded enough to try out every idea/suggestion that I blurt out during our studio sessions, even if they sound crazy, haha. I can be quite intense when I’m in creative mode, but Mathieu totally matches up to that, and I’m really happy with what came out of our studio sessions!”
“As always, I was enthusiastic to work with Oliver because we always come up with beautifully powerful bangers.” Space 92 adds. “We worked on ‘ORION’ and ‘GENESIS’ for several months, and then we tested and refined them a little bit everywhere around the world. We played both of them, together and solo, in Amsterdam during ADE and each time was a massive hit with the crowd! I am so proud of both songs.”

Lightning in a Bottle Drops Insane Lineup for 2024 Featuring Skrillex, Lane 8, M.I.A., ISOxo, Fatboy Slim and More

2024 has already seen a slew of festival lineup announcements, and following the disappointment by some (most) people at one particularly large Southern California festival’s lineup, the lineup from Lightning in a Bottle, So Cal’s premiere boutique camping festival, is utterly jaw dropping.
Returning to Buena Vista Lake, a couple of hours north of Los Angeles for Memorial Day Weekend, the lineup reads like a dance/indie music fan’s fever dream. Skrillex, Labrinth, Lane 8, James Blake and M.I.A. consist of the topline headliners, any blogger in 2014 would be salivating at this lineup. The next line of headliners is equally exhilarating as ISOxo, Fatboy Slim, CloZee and Nora En Pure round out a stellar group of artists. The festival provides a living and breathing outpost for misfits, creatives, and experience hunters to experience an array of top-tier music curation, art installations, immersive environments, and educational programming.
The 2024 edition is all about returning to why the festival started in the first place – having as much fun as possible. The LIB experience continues to be one of many facets and paths. It’s a festival defined as both a transformational wonderland and a wild party where freak flags fly. A place to learn and create, but also reconnect with one’s mischievous inner child, where surprises hide around every corner.
Lightning in a Bottle is a true off-the-grid experience, providing five full days to explore the music, art, and magic the expansive grounds have to offer. Arriving from day one gives weekend warriors of all kinds the opportunity to pick out the best campsites alongside their crew, attend pre-parties soundtracked by lineup artists, and become fully immersed in the festival before the crowd.
New for this year, Lightning in a Bottle is introducing three day tickets and hotel package options. The three day pass will be available beginning from the general on sale, and makes the LIB experience more accessible to those who’d like to build their own adventure at their own pace. Other new packages available this year include Easy Peasy Pre-Set Camping and Pre-Set RV options, taking away any of the stress of setting up camp upon arrival and instead being met with the convenience of having accommodations taken care of from the outset.
