Drumcode Celebrates 300th Release With Mha Iri’s ‘Bombay’

Today we celebrate 300 Drumcode releases, whilst looking to the future with ascendent Scottish producer Mha Iri sharing her excellent Bombay EP. She’s been one of the breakthrough artists on the label over the last 12 months, so it’s fitting her latest offering marks this special milestone. A hypnotiser of the highest order, the title track is a fully loaded barrage of Tribal Techno, crushing drums and vocals that unite for arguably Mha Iri’s strongest track on the imprint to date. Since debuting on Drumcode just a year ago with ‘Never Go Back To Sleep‘, her contribution to the debut Elevate compilation series and one of the best-selling Techno tracks of 2023, the Scottish producer has rapidly established herself as one of Drumcode’s most exciting new artists. A stellar debut EP followed in September with ‘The Unexpected‘, before ‘Bell‘, her cut on A-Sides Vol.12, charted #1 in Beatport’s Techno Top 100. Due to its success, Drumcode chose it for the ‘Change The Beat‘ remix competition, and the remix from YOZÉ is a highlight of the latest ‘Elevate Vol.II’.

Amidst an impressive touring schedule which will include Awakenings main stage, Junction 2, Tomorrowland and Drumcode’s Mysteryland main stage takeover this summer, Mha Iri has been active at Drumcode showcases, playing Watergate in Berlin and more recently the massive Drumsheds show in London. It was there where her spit-fire new EP Bombay shined, in the huge halls of Techno.

Wynn Nightlife Announces Return of XS Night Swim Season

Get ready to dive into summer! Wynn Nightlife, the crown jewel of nightlife experiences at Wynn Las Vegas, announces the return of its iconic pool party series, XS Night Swim, at XS Nightclub.
XS Night Swim holds the title of Las Vegas’ first and longest-running nighttime pool party, and it’s set to make a splash once again. The season explodes onto the scene with a bang on Sunday, April 28th, featuring the world-famous DJ and producer, David Guetta.

800% Peak: Daytime Clubbing Interest Is At An All-Time High

Daytime clubbing is not only becoming a thing, but also a trend.
Here’s one for those who love going out and partying every now and then, but don’t want to sacrifice an entire day coming back down to Earth. A recent note posted by Startle suggests the usual clubbing-by-night schedule could be making a shift, a change in era if you will. The brand claims the term “Daytime Clubbing“, and daytime parties in general, have seen an increase of 800% regarding online searches.
As straightforward as it sounds, daytime clubbing involves taking your sweet moments of relief and unwinding from the late hours of midnight and beyond, to a much more friendly time when the sun is still shining. The site states there are a handful of factors that could be the cause of this phenomenon, at least in the UK, a country where events like Day Fever live in a permanently sold-out state.
Appeals To A Wider Age Range
Partying during the day hours is much easier to handle. You don’t have to go out of your way and break your usual routines to stay an entire night out until the sun rises and you go to sleep for half a day. This is not only easier to do for newcomers to the scene, but it also has a direct benefit towards people aged 30 and up, who don’t really fancy chugging an entire bottle of hard liquor at 6 in the morning and breaking schedules as often as the teenagers do. There are jobs to fulfil, there are families to take care of, and there are other Saturday plans than just recovering from a hangover.
Nighttime Clubs Are Closing Down
A report by the Nighttime Industries Association shows that one out of every five nightclubs in the UK has closed its doors in the last few years. That’s unfortunate, but it also opens a possibility to shift these lost instances of leisure elsewhere. In true EDM spirit, the logical thing to do would be to accommodate those in need of a good musical time with new ways of clubbing, and this opens the possibility to innovate. Enter daytime partying. Roll credits.
Double Objectives And Creative Charities
It’s no secret that times have turned south financially speaking. Inflation is eating up the value of our hard-earned bucks, at the same time that organisms are getting more and more creative at taxing citizens. So it’s natural to see a decline in activities that involve giving away money, such as charities. As an extra dimension of originality, some daytime events have started tying themselves to different charities and other means of raising money — and creating experiences — for a variety of causes. Objectives like raising funds for those in need, or providing a safe space for the elderly to have a chat and a ball thus fighting loneliness, are some of those offered via these parties. And so, you’re basically helping others while helping yourself.
Final Thoughts
So, what do you think? Are you a hardcore fan of the night and night shows only, or would you be open to trying these daytime parties? I personally think the bridge has already been built, with open-air events such as the Anjunadeep series often taking advantage of scenic landscapes all over the world. In the end, what could come out of this is a more united community. Is anyone against it?

Watch Steve Angello LIVE Stream at Coachella 2024

The Swedish House Mafia may have reunited and taken their Paradise Again Tour around the world, but tonight Steve Angello returns to his solo roots with a headlining set at Coachella‘s Outdoor Theatre.
It’s been a momentous few years for the Stockholm-born DJ/producer. After Swedish House Mafia’s dramatic split in 2013, Angello launched into crafting his debut solo album HUMAN, which he brought to Coachella in 2017 with a headlining performance. That set was a high-concept spectacle, with Angello appearing ascending like a God to bring the album’s themes to life.
But HUMAN feels like a lifetime ago now for the SIZE Records boss. He’s rejoined Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso as SHM, releasing their long-awaited reunion album Paradise Again and touring it globally over the last year. The trio’s high-energy anthems like “Moth To A Flame” and “Redlight” have reestablished them as dance music royalty.
Tonight, however, gets back to Angello’s personal roots. Performing from midnight to 1 am, we can expect a more introspective journey through his influential label SIZE and its roster of underground house and techno talents.
Steve Angello LIVE Stream at Coachella 2024 Angello has been outspoken about wanting to refocus on SIZE and nurturing emerging artists. With the Paradise Again victory lap now complete, this is his chance to reimmerse in the gritty, four-to-the-floor sounds that first made him a sensation.
So don’t expect a rehash of Swedish House Mafia’s grandiose productions. This DJ set should highlight Angello’s talents as a tastemaker and connector of scenes. He’ll have the freedom to go as deep, progressive, or experimental as he wants in outlining SIZE’s forward path.

Barkin Drops 2nd Track of The Year ‘Come With Me’

Barkin continues his awesome 2024 with his 2nd release of the year. Teaming up with Honey-B-Sweet, ‘Come With Me’ continues Barkin’s Techno-focused sound. The New York artist dropped it on Liftoff Records. 
Honey-B-Sweet’s sultry vocals take center stage in the beginning before tension begins to rise. Before we know it, we are engulfed in a groovy bass-infused drop. Clever and gritty ear candy gives us all we need to keep dancing. Aggressive synths and sounds are expertly mixed into the record providing us with hints of Barkin’s original Bass House sound. 
A deep-moving break switches things up before the pace begins to speed up again. An even bigger second build introduces a fake-out drop. A melody of breath vocals takes us into the second drop. It feels just as good but with more percs and grooves throughout.

During a live presentation at their Toolroom Academy Live event in London.“From Mix to Mainstage – The Blueprint for Emerging Electronic Artists”, has today released the full findings of their newly commissioned report Toolroom Records, the education platform of leading electronic label Toolroom Academy

The report is produced for Toolroom Academy by Rufy Ghazi and David Boyle – head of Audience Strategies – who has previously built global analytics and data insight capabilities for major companies including The BBC and EMI Music, and has used data to help elect a prime minister and a president.

“We have sensed a frustration among our student community that despite doing the hard yards of production and contributing great music to the scene, this effort was not mirrored with opportunity in return. Our feeling was that the gap between our student’s ambitions, and the opportunities to build sustainable careers in electronic music, seemed far too wide.” – Miles Shackleton

Working closely with hundreds of students who have graduated through the various courses and mentorship schemes offered by their Academy, Toolroom has a unique insight into the perspective of talented artists struggling to carve a sustainable career for themselves in what is a multi-billion-dollar industry. The report is a direct response to this, providing a deeper comprehension of the industry dynamics, identifying barriers that emerging artists face, as well as offering valuable insights, directions, and a targeted approach to strategy development for emerging artists.

“The report is an important step towards fixing a key problem we have identified at Toolroom Academy. New artists who contribute the music – the lifeblood of the scene – face considerable challenges when attempting to turn their passion into sustainable careers. The report outlines a number of strategies for success, and suggests what role the wider industry should play in supporting emerging talent.” – Miles Shackleton

Based on data collected from over 250 new artists, alongside 1:1 interviews with a variety of established artists, educators, and industry professionals, the report provides a clear understanding of the challenges, experiences, and strategies used by electronic music artists. Whilst the responses largely paint a picture of resilience, versatility, and the blending of passion with pragmatism, strikingly, the report found that 76% of new artists feel that their career is not financially sustainable, whilst 62% say they struggle to grow an online audience. 
With 88% of the artists surveyed expressing difficulty in understanding algorithms and developing promotional strategies, the barriers emerging artists face are much broader than the ability to produce great music. Issues faced range from practical concerns around networking, collaborations and marketing/promotion, to the emotional and physical effects of burnout and the impact of rejection on mental health.

The findings are presented alongside direct strategies for growth and a call for solutions that can be adopted across areas of the industry responsible for education, mentorship, and networking. From demystifying entry points and industry roles to providing targeted educational initiatives that bridge the gap between academic knowledge and real-world experience, the report offers a clear pathway towards real, meaningful change that can be implemented across the music industry.

We aim to evolve and adapt in order to meet our student’s needs in an ever-changing industry. The report concludes with strategies to shape music education for the future; focusing on networking, brand-building, industry acumen and resilience, alongside providing hands-on experiences and industry-relevant content. DJ Snake Unleashes “Big Bang” with Crankdat

French DJ and multi-platinum producer DJ Snake has linked up with bass music maverick Crankdat for the pulsating new single “Big Bang.” The track is a prime example of Snake’s ability to seamlessly blend genres, boasting colossal builds, whiplash-inducing synths, and dramatic drops.

Last summer, the Belgian producer became the first drum & bass artist in five years to perform on Tomorrowland's fabled Mainstage, following in the footsteps of Netsky. Jake Shore and Henry Fong's New House Track Will Make You Sweat Through Your Clothes: Listen

Channeling the unbridled energy of '90s club culture, Jake Shore and Henry Fong have joined forces for a new collaboration, "Take Control."
Landing on Tchami's Confession imprint, the track samples C+C Music Factory's 1990 hip-house classic "Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)." And in many ways, it's the modern-day equivalent of that timeless party anthem.
Just ask FISHER, who has been rinsing the song in his DJ sets for weeks and sending crowds into full-blown hysteria.

However, the track has now been supercharged, its vintage sugar rush transforming into something much more potent. But Shore and Fong don't just raid the candy drawer of the past—they've ingeniously interpolated it into a visceral sound all their own.
With its manic saxophone loop, "Take Control" hits like a surge protector plugged straight into the MTV generation. It's impossible not to move to that unmistakable C+C synth sample, but instead of parachute pants, it's wrapped in a quaking tech house beat that taps into our most primal dancefloor instincts. The new song especially hits home for Shore, a longtime fan of both Fong and Confession, with whom he said releasing music "has been an absolute dream." Tech house bangers with a nostalgic twist have become the secret sauce of his bulletproof formula as he furiously rises through dance music's ranks.
"Personally this record is a reflection of where I'm at in my career and what I've devoted the past five years of my life to… letting the music take control," Shore tells EDM.com. "The energy and culture of the '90s is in my blood, it's my childhood, it's how I was raised. I just feel like myself whenever I take inspiration from this era of dance music and it's so much fun for me to bring it back to life. My hope is that when someone hears this record they let everything in the world go for a little while and just let the music simply take control."
The same goes for Fong, who says he grew up listening to "Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)" on repeat.
"I was born in the '80s so I was old enough to remember everything going on in the '90s and it was the most fun," Fong recalls. "My mom always put on the Jock Jams CD to work out to I remember growing up, so 'Everybody Dance Now' was always blaring through my house. That whole CD feels like my childhood."
