After being asked about it since, I am happy we can finally share it with everyone. Control Freak said I have been opening my sets with this record for the last year and a half and it gets a sick reaction almost every time. I always have a lot of fun writing tracks with NVADRZ because I feel our individual styles compliment each other so well! Aside from him being one of my close friends, he’s easily one of my favorite upcoming artists. So many people have been patiently waiting and asking for this track, and we are both so stoked to finally put this one out!”

Daft Punk release “The Writing of Fragments of Time” from ‘RAM’ 10th Anniversary album

On this day last month, Daft Punk announced a 10th anniversary edition of their final studio album, Random Access Memories, with an additional 35 minutes of unreleased music. Today, the first track has been released — we hesitate to call it a “song,” as, more than new music, it features additional commentary from collaborator Todd Edwards during the creation of the track.
Todd Edwards first worked with the band on “Face To Face” from their Discovery album in 2001. As they were working on “Fragments of Time” at the legendary Henson Recording Studios in Los Angeles on February 29, 2012, a tape ran for the full session, capturing the entire creative journey behind the making of the track and we hear some of these intimate moments of creation between Thomas Bangalter and Todd Edwards in the new track released today.
Edited for this anniversary edition by Daft Punk sound engineer Florian Lagatta, “The Writing of Fragments of Time” is a documentary track that nods back to the RAM album track Giorgio by Moroder, in which the iconic Giorgio Moroder discusses his own creative process and come up. This newest behind the scenes track glimpses the actual humans at work with all their doubts, excitement and first draft imperfections.
Random Access Memories 10th Anniversary Edition will be officially released May 12.

Jai Wolf shares first new single in 3 years as he prepares for new album

Today, Jai Wolf marks a return with his first official single in three years, “Want It All” featuring rising pop sensation Evalyn. The song arrives as the first taste of Jai Wolf’s new installment of artistry, and the first single from his upcoming album. The captivating music video, directed by director Andrew Donoho (The Strokes, Joji, Janelle Monae), features an intricately choreographed dance performance. It was created with AI and ranges in visual aesthetics from oil paintings to futuristic art.
“This era feels like a true rebirth by pushing my sound into new territories while still feeling grounded in my usual sonic palette,” says Jai Wolf. “While a lot of electronic music is defined by the production, I really wanted to focus on lyrics and songwriting for the new music. It’s been cathartic putting my feelings to paper and then extrapolating them even further through interpretative dance for the music video. I’m grateful for Evalyn, Andrew, Monica, Rishi and Manfred for being a part of this record and bringing the music video to life!”
“Want It All” is rife with rich instrumentation, from crisp drums to warm brass notes and an underlying melody that feels like sitting next to a fire on a cold, lonely night.

Denver-based producer Manic Focus is an artist of many talents. As a magician, he uses sleight of hand to pull objects out of thin air. It may be his best work yet, keeping your ears and mind engaged the whole way through with mesmerizing melodies, seamless vocal sampling, and drum grooves that seem to vibrate through your whole body. Despite all of his talent, it’s great to see artists willing to go the extra mile in being truly vulnerable through their craft and in doing so, it seemingly resonates even deeper to the listener.

Live-electronic trip-hop duo Since JulEYE Reveals debut LP ‘The Dawn of Since’

The Denver music scene is a tight-knit community, and the hotly-tipped trip-hop duo Since JulEYE reflect that camaraderie. Shattering genre confines with their uniquely-blended sonic stylings, Since JulEYE was born out of shared musical tastes and Denver’s warm, inclusive artistic identity.
After initially starting as a solo project by DJ/producer Lev Averbakh, Since JulEYE recently added long-time collaborator and veteran keyboardist Todd Stoops (RAQ, Kung-Fu) as a permanent member. This new creative partnership has resulted in a vibrant mix of Averbakh’s bouncy hip-hop production with Stoops’ jam band sensibilities – a dynamic combination that has led to performances at Summer Camp Music Festival, Gem & Jam, Color Field, and Wavespell, where they’ve displayed their electric live sets.
Now, Since JulEYE releases their debut album, The Dawn Of Since, a full-length project that showcases its artists’ singularly aligned musical intuition. It’s a genre-hopping masterpiece, featuring Eric “Benny” Bloom (Lettuce), Colby Buckler (Emancipator, Manic Focus), Michal Menert, ProbCause, and more.
You can’t go wrong with any of the tracks, but our favorite is “Off White Flowers”,  a lo-fi jam turned thrilling drum & bass ride that is absolutely unforgettable.

Bellorum Lands On Dancing Dead With Heavy-Hitting Color Bass Gem, “VICE”

While Bellorum kicked off his music career back in 2016 with “Oxymore,” he has been DJing for more than a decade and has now positioned himself as one of the hottest names to watch within electronic dance music. GORDO opens third Central American Learning Center in Guatemala

Say what you will about GORDO, pka Carnage, but his philanthropic ventures in Central America are well-documented. After previously opening his first learning centre in Guatemala, GORDO heads back to the country he grew up in as he partners up with Seeds of Learning for the second time to open Edificio Taraka in Nuevo Eden, Guatemala, making this the third learning center he’s funded in the region since the first opened in Nicaragua in 2014.
Again working alongside established partner organization Seeds of Learning, a non-profit dedicated to improving prospects for young people living in rural areas of Central America, Edificio Taraka is the latest learning center GORDO has been involved in. Situated in Nuevo Eden, a locality in Guatemala’s San Marcos region, the facility’s impact on students will be profound once construction completes.
“My childhood in Guatemala shaped who I am today and I am honored to give back to the generation of tomorrow in my home country,” says GORDO. “I dedicate this school to my aunt, my uncle and my late cousin Catherine who I grew up with in Guatemala.”
This brand new learning center will support hundreds of adolescent kids in Guatemala looking to get on a better educational path providing them with all new books, maps, tables, chairs and more.

SIPPY & Dani King team up for minimal, dark, and melodic new collab, “Feel Anything”

So often we find our favorite new music from shows or events, through mixes and podcasts, radio play, etc. A lot of music, however, doesn’t so easily fit into those types of settings and are made to feel something… feel anything.
Such is the case with the new single from SIPPY and Dani King, released last week on Alison Wonderland’s FMU Records, “Feel Anything.” If you had to put it in a box, you would probably call it dubstep — however, it’s not like the synth/bass-heavy, loud, screeching sounds that have been made popular the past couple years. The bass is deep and emotional, the production is minimal, and incredibly vocal-heavy. It’s the sort of dubstep that you won’t likely headbang to (I mean, you could try), but it still sends shivers down your spine.
If anything, just listening to the drums, you might even call it trip hop, bearing some similarities to Massive Attack’s early work.
On the production process and working with SIPPY, King says, “I wrote this topline around the prompt “I can’t feel anything” and I wanted to create a descriptive, almost visual experience with the lyrics. Sippy heard the topline and fell in love with it, so much so that we ended up using the demo vocals in the final track. It was a dream to collaborate with Sippy because she’s so talented, and I am grateful the opportunity came on such a unique vocal.”
For the fourth release on the recently minted label, Alison said, “I’ve been a fan of fellow Australian artist Sippy for a while now, I got sent some demos from her and really liked this one with Dani King. Excited to get some other girls on the label too.”

So Sus & theajsound team up for melodic trap, “Reunion”

It’s been an incredible year so far, with so many OG artists announcing and releasing new projects, as well as many of the artists we highlighted on our latest Artists To Watch list this past December throwing out some absolutely stellar new tracks. On that list was So Sus, who just released their first track of the year, a collaboration with Indian/New Zealand artist theajsound, “Reunion.”
As So Sus themself is from Zimbabwe and now lives in Canada, this is truly a global release.
According to the press release:
“Reunion” is a song celebrating So Sus’ reunion with their partner. The first verse talks about the loss of the partner while the second celebrates their return. The drops are melodic and filled with emotion. With this track So Sus tapped New Zealand based singer theajsound to help provide vocals to fulfill their vision for the song. With this song being so personal to So Sus, they even made the artwork for the track which features them and their partner.

SIPPY & Dani King team up for minimal, dark, and melodic new collab, “Feel Anything”

So often we find our favorite new music from shows or events, through mixes and podcasts, radio play, etc. A lot of music, however, doesn’t so easily fit into the live show model and is simply meant to make you feel something… feel anything.
The new collaboration from SIPPY and Dani King is a breath of fresh air in the dubstep scene, with the minimal, dark production and King finally settling into her lower register to make this new single supremely haunting.
King says, “I wrote this topline around the prompt “I can’t feel anything” and I wanted to create a descriptive, almost visual experience with the lyrics. Sippy heard the topline and fell in love with it, so much so that we ended up using the demo vocals in the final track. NYC Artist Goes VOGUE: An Intimate Look Behind ChRZA’s “Walk Away” Music Video and Her Experience Navigating the Underground Kiki Ballroom Scene

There is little media coverage available on the Kiki Scene from a musical perspective, nearly nonexistent coverage from within the EDM community. Upon listening to the opening of “Walk Away”, (a Pop single turned Vogue Remix submitted to us last week) and reading what one rising local Pop artist has to say about the matter, it is quite the story. YourEDM has gotten the pleasure to view what could be New York City’s most fascinating underground subculture, through the lens of one of the most heartfelt submissions we’ve ever received. ChRZA, once a novice to Ball Culture just 5 years ago, has put on display how much the culture has influenced her personally, and the rest of the entertainment world. The answer? More than you know.
Upon first listen, one would say the Ballroom remix for “Walk Away”, is intrinsically, House music. Technically, according to Google and a PBS news report, Ballroom tracks are more precisely considered to be “a blend of disco, funk, hip-hop, house, rhythm and blues, and electronic music.”
Additionally, the dance form applied to the music is called “Voguing”. Voguing is a “creative, energetic dance that mimics the angular postures and stylized movements of fashion models on a catwalk.”
After a deep dive into Ball Culture it’s clear to see the scene is incredibly competitive, highly visual and entertaining. It combines sport, pageantry and performative art all under one roof with beauty and class, despite many of its earliest and current underground functions having taken place in basements and small rental ballroom facilities. Everything about this New York City renaissance in music from its birth in the 70’s to its effects on Pop Culture now, is a phenomena and something worthy of going down in EDM history.

Trouble with Representation and Appropriation
Over the last few years, aspects of Ball Culture has made its way into Pop Culture from celebrity use of voguing choreography in music performances, public exposure to Ballroom/Drag terminology like “It’s giving”, “Tens”, “that’s a chop”, “Slay”, “Queen”, to the more direct appropriation of voguing by the adopting and renaming of techniques as with the “Helicopter Hands Tutorial trend” on Tiktok.
Trends taking off are proof that the community within Ballroom is talented and highly valuable additions to social culture. The impact made by Ballroom performers, Drag Queens, and Queer icons within the space have leaked into the general population of Pop Culture for years yet, without the proper recognition of the history, audiences often never find out who the originators of these widely enjoyed expressions and cultural art are. In the process, creators in the Ballroom space receive no benefits to aid in their fight against marginalization and acceptance in the public or professional
spaces of society we all operate in.
By not recognizing Ballroom’s rich history, or its past and current influences, we are all missing an opportunity to bridge different populations of society together in appreciation for each other. How can you appreciate a community for beginning a trend you don’t know they started?
On a creative level, there is a professional problem with attribution and credit, leaving LGBTQ+ creatives just as isolated from job opportunities as they were during the previous era of Transphobia. History lessons aside, Ballroom is a force to be reckoned with globally and one that is still alive and kicking harder than ever before today. It’s divided into 2 main stages where a more mainstream “Ballroom” scene hosts large scale competitive events, attracting endless crowds of attendees and highly coveted performers from across the globe. Meanwhile, the “Kiki” scene is more locally driven for scouting the best talents within communities and socializing overall. Ultimately, whether attending any ball for competition or the enjoyment, what you end up getting here is such a unique elevation to the EDM experience that you just won’t find anywhere else.

Currently facing multiple injuries, she still overcomes and surpasses obstacles by willing herself through multiple competitions on the regular. Grace represents the silent majority of Ballroom performers who, without any official accolades, has a wealth of wisdom and years of know-how in the realm of everything Ballroom.

A new addition to House of Old Navy’s NYC chapter, Kamryn “Nunu Old Navy” has been turning heads in battles and has held her own whether up against a legendary performer or not. NuNu’s moves can be seen in the opening dance scenes for “Walk Away”, her smooth and fluid movements compliment Grace and ChRZA while also attracting audience attention to a style that’s all her own. Nunu may be the name ringing bells on a whole ‘nother level come 2024. Watch out for her, and ask about her!

Flux Pavilion joins a “new age of dubstep” and releases newest single, ‘Paradise’

When I first started really digging into dubstep around 2010, one of the first songs that I found was “Lines In Wax” by Flux Pavilion. Even before “I Can’t Stop” or his iconic “Gold Dust” remix with Doctor P, I fell in love with the flow from Foreign Beggars, the gritty synths and bass, all of it. Throughout the years, Flux has remained a pillar of the dubstep community, even as he transitioned into different material with his latest album, .wav.
However, we already saw him returning to his Tesla-era sound with his previous single, last year’s “Technicolour Psychic Vision.” Now, we have further confirmation that Flux is definitely returning to dubstep, and it’s because the scene is so strong right now.
“I think we’re entering into a new age of dubstep,” he said in a recent video. “There’s so much rad stuff that people are writing. I don’t think there’s a point in my career that I’ve been more excited about dubstep than I am now.” That’s huge praise from someone who was around  when it was literally still forming. He continues, “Can’t stop thinking about it, it’s kind of all I want to do. Just to give you guys a heads up, that’s where I’m at. If you want to hear some Flux dubstep, that’s exactly what’s happening.”
“Paradise,” his newest single, showcases a blend of Flux Pavilion’s signature sound with a unique mix of melodic bass and upbeat rhythms. The track progresses with a catchy euphoric vocal before switching into a weighty anthem. Fed by the force of letting yourself be present in the moment and to savor experiences, enjoying paradise means taking the time to appreciate the beauty around you and disconnect from the digital world. Put down your phone and take in the sights, sounds, and smells of a special place.

Last year, Ray Volpe featured on Together, the most recent EP from MitiS released on Ophelia. Yesterday, he made his solo debut on the label with “Meant To Be Lonely” with Donna Tella.
Ray Volpe’s track “Laserbeam” took the entire EDM scene by storm last year as the most-played track at EDC Vegas with support from Skrillex, Excision and more. The track is currently trending on TikTok with millions of views and over 17,000 videos. The dubstep act just finished his debut headline tour with multiple sell out dates.
But life is all about growth and experimentation; for his solo debut on Ophelia, Ray turned the vibes up and the wobbles down for a happier single. Emotive piano chords and scene-stopping verses transition into spectrum filling saw leads and climactic drops in halftime and 4 on the floor rhythms.

Why Rising Talent Bassassin Is An Artist To Keep An Eye On

From irresistible trap bangers to an assortment of heavy dubstep and bass music tracks, Bassassin is carefully crafting an intricate discography that should be on everyone’s radar.
Hailing from San Diego, he graduated from the Musicians Institute with a focus on Music Production and Music Business back in 2013, and has been tirelessly working towards crafting a unique sound and brand ever since. In an oversaturated market, Bassassin knows well that it takes a lot of work for an artist to stand out, and he’s up to the task.
A versatile producer and DJ, Bassassin combines elements from hip-hop, dubstep, trap and rock to create his sounds, with his discography dating back to 2015, when he dropped his self-titled DJ Bassassin EP. He has released a large number of EPs and projects ever since, following up the monumental success of Bassassin EP with Bassassin’s Creed in 2018, In Yo Face in 2019, Coffee EDM in 2020 and Music Is War in 2021. His latest effort marked King of Thugstep, which introduced his new thugstep genre, a combination of hardcore rap and dubstep. Featuring collaborations with Wermzer, Gangsta Boo, Chrome Korleone and drill legend Wacka Flocka Flame, King of Thugstep was a massive moment for Bassassin, further cementing him as an artist to watch within the scene.
Bassassin’s inspirations range from DJ Paul and Lex Luger, to DJ Mustard and Diplo, as he’s aiming to achieve a similar level of fame and acclaim. Channeling his passion into everything he does, while aiming to inspire the next wave of talents, he has been producing professionally for over eight years at this point and isn’t showing any signs of slowing down anytime soon.
Bassassin’s brand new release, which is out now, is arguably one of his heaviest to date, and a stunning display of his production talents. Titled “Slayer,” it follows the heavy-hitting “Cancel Culture” alongside Yukmouth and Ise B, and combines metal with riddim for a mesmerizing result.
A barrage of guitars and bass kicks off the tune, that were provided by Bassassin’s former guitar teacher and nicely introduce listeners to the haunting vibe of the track. Following a screamo vocal that catches listeners off-guard, a sinister riddim drop explodes, filled with forward-thinking sound design and hard-hitting drums.
“Slayer” makes for yet another impressive tune for Bassassin, who is gearing up to drop a lot more music throughout 2023. Make sure to stay tuned with the talented producer, as he’s only rising from here.

Major League Djz & Major Lazer announce joint album ‘Piano Republik’ out next week

It’s been three years since Major Lazer released Music Is The Weapon, what was supposed to be their final album. (But not really.) In fact, Major Lazer has released a few singles in the years since, including “Koo Koo Fun” with Major League Djz, Tiwa Savage, and DJ Maphorisa. Little did we know when it was released in 2022 that it was actually the first single from their next album, a joint venture with Major League Djz, Piano Republik.
The two groups released another single earlier this month, “Designer,” with Joeboy, and another today, “Mamgobhozi,” with Brenda Fassie, ahead of the official announcement that Piano Republik is officially out next week, March 24.
“Brenda Fassie was not only an icon, but she inspired many black South Africans to be their authentic selves,” Major League Djz said, in a collective statement. “Her music catalog brought joy to the many South Africans that filled stadiums to see her perform and is a true reflection of South African history.”
The first new album release from Major Lazer — the U.S. based trio of Diplo, Walshy Fire and Ape Drums — in three years, Piano Republik also features appearances from Ty Dolla $ign, afrobeats stars Tiwa Savage and Joeboy and South African talent including DJ Maphorisa, Tyla, LuuDaDeejay, Msaki, Gaba Cannal and Russell Zuma. The result is a thrilling and unprecedented international showcase for amapiano, the dance music genre that has exploded out of South Africa’s townships and onto the world stage over the last three years.

The Chemical Brothers release new single “No Reason” with mind-bending music video

The Chemical Brothers are back with their newest experiment in blending psych rock and electronica with “No Reason” and another incredibly mind-bending music video.
A highlight of the Grammy Award-winning band’s recent live shows and DJ sets, “No Reason” is unmistakable and irresistible, built from a cascading melody, a heavy acid riff and a snare roll that rattles like a military tattoo. The track comes with a surreal ‘Neon Marching Band’ video directed by longtime collaborators Smith and Lyall and choreographed and performed by Gecko Theatre that will be familiar to anyone who saw one of the band’s incredible 2022 festival appearances.

Carl Cox announces legendary set at Great Pyramids of Giza

Future Sound of Egypt, the label from Aly & Fila, made history in 2017 when they, Armin van Buuren, and Paul Thomas played sets illuminated against the Great Pyramids of Egypt for the first time. Artists have played at worldwide iconic sites many times before, like Paul Oakenfold at Stonehenge or David Guetta at the Eiffel Tower. There’s something about dance music that seems to bring people from all cultures together (it’s also easier to travel with a pair of decks and a mixer than a full band).
