Galo Unveils New Series of Unreleased Edits Dubbed – “Edit Sessions”

Rising artist Galo is back with a punch, unveiling the “Edit Sessions” EP, which is the first installment in a series of unreleased edits, features five remixes of popular tracks.
The EP features remixes of hit tracks such as “This Is What You Came For” by Calvin Harris and Rihanna, “Orange Soda” by Baby Keem, “Area Codes” by Ludacris and Nate Dogg, “Asereje” by Las Ketchup, and Ellie Goulding’s “Let It Die.” Each track has been reimagined with Galo’s unique style and production techniques.
Galo’s had an impressive career thus far, with notable releases on Night Service Only, Hood Politics, Space Yacht, Uprise, and Do Not Duplicate that have earned him support from top DJs such as John Summit, Lee Foss, CID, Dr. Fresch, Gordo, David Guetta, Franky Rizardo, Liquid Todd, and many others. With his recent performance at Okeechobee Music Festival and a successful run of shows during Miami Music Week, Galo continues to prove he’s an artist to keep an eye on for 2023.

G Jones announces debut solo headlining Red Rocks show with Amon Tobin, Digital Mystikz, & more

Following the release of his double single “Daydreams / Which Way” last week which served as the first look at his highly-anticipated sophomore Paths LP, G Jones has announced the biggest show of his career as he headlines Red Rocks solo for the first time on October 15. Supporting acts will be Amon Tobin performing as his Two Fingers moniker, Digital Mystikz (Mala + Coki), Luke Vibert, and Curra.
“I’ve been working on the Paths Live show all year, remixing and reformatting songs from Paths as well as the rest of my catalog for live performance, and also doing multi-day IRL work sessions with my team of visual collaborators, building this new show from scratch. I can hardly contain my excitement about it all. I’ve been discovering so many new ways to perform my songs in a live context, and really believe that the audiovisual aspect of the show will be far beyond anything we’ve done before,” said G Jones.
He continued, “I’m feeling extremely grateful for my core visuals team: Shinichiro Fujita, Alec Donkin, Jayson Esguerra and Lauren Marrone, who are all working so hard to help me hone and execute these ideas. Getting to debut Paths Live at Red Rocks is an actual dream come true for me, and I want to say a deeply heartfelt thank you to everyone who has supported my music and attended my shows over the years for making this dream a reality.”

Berghain Bouncer Sven Marquardt brings photo exhibit to NY Art Week

Berlin nightlife icon Sven Marquardt has announced his DISTURBING BEAUTY New York Art Week photo exhibition at ArtsDistrict Brooklyn May 18-21. In collaboration with New York nightlife impresarios Teksupport, DISTURBING BEAUTY will see the Berlin based photographer exhibit a selection of his first photo works captured in 1980s East Berlin, which will be presented by Galerie Deschler. The opening event on May 18 will see performances from a selection of noteworthy house and techno artists, including Joris Voorn. In cooperation with visual artist Tavy Hornbrook, Marquardt shows on this special evening over 100 visuals as video art and creates a digital experience by letting images and sound flow together.
In Sven’s own words, “For more than thirty years, club culture has determined both my life—as a curator of countless nights—and, of course, my life as a photographer. In a city in transition after the wild eighties and the fall of the Berlin Wall, I had for the first time put my camera aside. It was at the end of the 1990s that my camera again became a stylistic device for expressing our attitude towards life. Berlin has always been the setting as well as the inspiration for my pictures and projects.
“Since 2010, my exhibition projects have been traveling, and they have occasionally been created in collaboration with musicians. Starting in 2018, residencies followed in Belgrade, Sydney and then, in 2022, in New York City. For me, New York is rough and photogenic = ‘sexy’ 24/7. Club culture is always to some extent ‘RIOT,’ unadjusted and, above all, free.”
The DISTURBING BEAUTY exhibition will be on view from May 18-21 at the Gallery at ArtsDistrict Brooklyn, with hours of 3pm-9pm. The opening event on May 18th will run from 10pm-5am.

Manila Killa and Hotel Garuda reunite to launch new project Chromebodies with Nelly Furtado remix

For those who don’t remember, Hotel Garuda used to be a project comprised of Chris Gavino, Manila Killa, and Aseem Mangaokar, or Candle Weather. The two parted ways in 2018 with Chris continuing his Manila Killa project while Aseem assumed full control over Hotel Garuda, leaving Candle Weather behind.
Now, the two have reunited on an exciting new project as CHROMEBODIES with their first remix out now, taking on the classic “Say It Right” by Nelly Furtado.
The remix takes on a late ’90s/early ’00s energy with a super bouncy rhythm and upbeat synths and melodies. It feels nostalgic while also incredibly sincere as a look back at the sounds of classic dance music.
“For the last seven months, we’ve been working on a lot of music together again,” the two say. “This time it’s different. We’re so, so excited to share all of this with you. We know you’ve wanted it as much as we have. CHROMEBODIES is here to stay.”

Boys Noize, Pussy Riot, and Alice Glass team up for dark acid collaboration, “Chastity”

With “Chastity,” Pussy Riot and Alice Glass wield Boys Noize’s racing techno-NRG as a weapon of mass domination. The femme-fatale vocalists take turns drenching the Berlin producer’s dark adrenaline with syrupy acid – and while it’s an undeniable peak-time rush, a closer listen to the lyrics reveal disturbing new details.
One can never know for sure if the ladies are just singing along or issuing commands. Did Boys Noize know his production was being used by Pussy Riot and Alice Glass to create the first sissy-hypno-core banger? But the question that “Chastity” has everyone really asking is, “Who has the key?”
Pussy Riot’s Nadya Tolokonnikova says: “This song will put the patriarchy in a tiny cage and throw the key out.”

Watch Four Tet x Fred again.. x Skrillex full headlining set from Coachella

It’s been impossible to evade or avoid Skrillex this year. On top of two albums (and two more to come), his work with Four Tet and Fred again.. has made the three of them a force of nature, something to be reckoned with and impossible to predict. They sold out Madison Square Garden with only days’ notice, so of course it would only make sense to call upon them again when Frank Ocean pulled out of his duties as Coachella headliner on weekend 2.
Call them tba, Pangbourne House Mafia, whatever you want, the energy on the polo grounds that night were electrifying. From the moment they walked out to their stage in the middle of the crowd, as Four Tet said they should be like Ariana Grande, to the multiple times they dropped “Country Riddim” and “Ratata” throughout the night, everyone there was vulnerable to their whims.

Heatwave Music Festival Returns for it’s Second year with Kx5, Tiësto, Slander, and More!

Summer in Chicago just got a whole lot hotter! Heatwave Music Festival returns for its sophomore year with another lineup of stellar musical and artistic talent. This year’s event will be headlined by some absolute powerhouses in the dance music scene. Attendees will enjoy the return of a hometown favorite, Kasakde, as he plays alongside deadmau5 in their collaborative project, Kx5, in their Chicago debut. Accompanying them in the headlining slots is versatile producer, DJ, and multi-instrumentalist GRiZ, pioneering dance megastar Tiësto, and acclaimed electronic duo and Gud Vibrations label heads Slander.
Rounding out the rest of the lineup, we see Gryffin, Loud Luxury, Nitti Gritti & Party Favor’s house project SIDEPIECE, A-Trak, VNSSA, Cheat Codes, LSDREAM, Derro, Malaa, Whethen, Elephante, EDX, Luude, Noziu, and Alec Monopoly. Quite a few of the scene’s rising stars are also slated to make an appearance, such as melodic tech house duo KREAM and fashionable twin sister duo Coco & Breezy. Alongside them will be Kaivon, Kai Wachi, Apashe, The Sponges, TWINSICK, Zingara, NOTD, and Automhate.
Prepare to be transported to a world of unparalleled artistic wonder at Heatwave Music Festival. As the festival unfolds, a diverse range of exceptional visual artists and creatives will take center stage, offering their unique talents and immersive installations to take your breath away. ARC Music Festival adds Dax J, Sara Landry, Mike Dunn, and More in Massive Phase 2 Announcement

On the heels of their initial lineup announcement only two months ago, ARC Music Festival is back to add even more talent to an already overflowing lineup. Phase two additions include Monnom Black label head and UK selector Dax J, vocal-driven minimal techno veteran Cassy, emergent UK act Schak, and global afro house talent Shimza, plus industrial techno powerhouse Sara Landry, pioneering house producer Kevin Knapp, groove-heavy UK tech house producer Iglesias, and a live set by David Castellani. 
The festival also boasts an impressive number of local Chicago mainstays, with house music veterans Terry Hunter and Mike Dunn added along with Phuture (DJ Pierre, Spanky, and Herb J).

Jakk’d, HAWD HITTA & NoBueno Drop Spanish Infused House Track, “Check This Out” (ft. $on-$hine)

If you’re on the lookout for the song to kick off your weekend, look no further! Los Angeles based electronic DJ/Producer duo Jakk’d team up with HAWD HITTA, NoBueno and $on-$hine on their latest house track “CHECK THIS OUT”.
It’s a captivating track, infusing a Latina elements with the trumpet melodies paired perfectly with a irresistible four on the floor groove. Whether you’re at the club or at the festival, this track carries enough energy to light up either setting!
Although “CHECK THIS OUT” is the first release for HAWD HITTA since September, it’s noted that he’s coming off a US cross country tour, and is back for more. This time we expect to have Jakk’d, NoBueno, and $on-$hine alongside these upcoming performances. NoBueno has also been working to release tracks consistently and should be noted that apart from upcoming collaborations with Jakk’d, they’ve had some even back several years. There’s a friendship there from their DJ/Producer beginnings in Boston/New England, and crushing it over there before moving to LA as well. $on-$hine comes into the mix in 2022 with great energy. Not only does the squad start since to embrace him as a friend but they also include $on-$hine in on the sessions due to his background in music as well. It all came together in those early February and March sessions as the group pushes this out on new Los Angeles, CA based label, SEARCHPRTY RECORDS, founded by Andrew Wunder (NoBueno) and Austin Diduch (HAWD HITTA).

DOMO Releases Mesmerizing EP ‘Juca’ Via Where The Heart Is Records + Interview

Spanish music producer, DJ, and remixer DOMO is an artist who continues to remain on our radar. He’s crafted a especially unique sound, floating somewhere between melodic and deep house, with his own fresh twist.
He recently released his latest EP ‘Juca’ on David Hohme’s Where The Heart Is Records and the result is spectacular. The EP’s title track is a driving club record that draws listeners in with its tasteful and energetic groove. The sampling is flawless, seamlessly weaving a male spanish vocal with a high female lead that locks into the mesmerizing rhythm. “Erhu” is the second and final tune, capping off the EP wonderfully with its rich tapestry of ambient melodies and driving four on the floor groove.
Choosing to release the ‘Juca’ EP on David Hohme’s Where The Heart Is Records was a natural decision for DOMO, who had previously worked with the label on his 2021 track “Wrongs.”As DOMO continues to make his mark on the electronic music scene with the entrancing sound of “Juca” and the collaborative spirit of Where The Heart Is Records, we are thrilled to bring you an exclusive interview with the artist. How do you maintain originality in your music production when there are so many existing influences and styles out there?
In an industry where an average of 50.000 tracks are released on digital platforms per day, you have to be original to be noticed. As you go through my discography, you will find influences from melodic, deep, minimal or tech house. Only through hard work and countless hours of listening to music, I always find a way of being original without copying an existing idea. Originality is the ability to think independent and creative.
How do you think the electronic music industry is evolving, and what role do you hope to play in that evolution?
Music industry is mainly based on trends, although we see a rise of many variations of electronic music. My goal is to keep on making unique house music and stay loyal to myself.
From an artists’ perspective, what do you think sets Where The Heart Is Records apart from other labels in the industry?
I believe that “Where the heart is” actually cares about their artists. David stays close to their musical careers and keeps in touch with them. I feel that both David and Will (Vance) have a natural approach, building a very professional working atmosphere.
How do you stay inspired and keep your music fresh in an ever-evolving industry?
You can find inspiration everyday and everywhere. It’s only a matter of perspective. I have been recently spending some time in Madrid and got inspired by the sound of its streets, so I pulled out my phone and recorded this unique texture.

What advice do you have for aspiring music producers and DJs looking to break into the electronic music scene?
Stay true to yourself, do it for the right reasons and don’t give up!

Just announced this past Wednesday, G Jones is releasing his second album, PATHS, this year and the first two singles are out now.
“Daydreams” and “Which Way” delve more into the psychedelic and whimsical side of G’s productions, rather than some of the more synth-heavy material he’s released in the past. We can likely expect a more introspective and cerebral album experience with this new era than his heavier material. That being said, “Which Way” definitely still scratches that itch.

Fred again.. & Brian Eno release somber, ambient album, “Secret Life”

We’re still somewhat reeling from the insanity that was Pangbourne House Mafia’s Coachella main stage closing set two weekends ago. As soon as Skrillex, Four Tet, and Fred again.. walked so nonchalantly across the massive stage, as they approached their 360-degree pedestal in the middle of the packed crowd, we knew we were about to witness something momentous and unpredictable.
As a trio, that’s the sort of energy the group exudes. Individually, each is more idiosyncratic. Four Tet, for example, just played three nights solo in Los Angeles at the Hollywood Palladium, his performance a far cry from the chaos of country riddim that was on display in the desert. As for Fred again.., he’s just released a new album called Secret Life with his longtime mentor, Brian Eno.
Secret Life wasn’t born of the same sort of energy that Actual Life was; rather, the more somber and ambient sounds come from a place of greater sadness and melancholy than its more club-oriented half-siblings.

Nostalgix Drops Hot New Bass House Single “Step Back”

Nostalgix makes her triumphant return to Tchami’s Confession label with her latest single, “Step Back.” “Step Back” sees the versatile producer and performer experiment with some G-house. The beat and bass allow for Nostalgix’s sassy raps to come to the forefront of the track.
“’Step Back’ is one of the sassiest records I’ve made yet. I wanted to really embody badass energy; that you can do what you want and get what you want.” Nostalgix says. “When I was writing the song, I was going through a period in my life where I had a bunch of people giving me their opinions and telling me what to do with my life and my career. And I was super over it. I just wanted to do me and be true to myself. So for me, this record is really the embodiment of ‘yo, there really ain’t no rules. I’ma do me, and that’s all I will do.’”
