Swedish House Mafia release new single “See The Light”

It’s been a little over a year since Swedish House Mafia last released music, their sophomore album, Paradise Again. The Swedish trio played Ultra Music Festival a couple months ago but have otherwise been outside of fans’ immediate field of view since the end of their album campaign in 2022. Now, they return with new music from the forthcoming EA Sports’ Formula 1 soundtrack album, “See The Light.”
With its propulsive synths, effusive energy, and otherworldly vocal transmissions, it finds Swedish House Mafia shining as brightly as ever, showcasing the hallmarks of their striking and stunning signature sound. 
To celebrate the single’s drop, the guys just revealed the details for an intimate exclusive fan show at E1 London tomorrow, Saturday May 27. Concluding this UK takeover, they cap off the weekend by gracing the mainstage of Creamfields South on Sunday, May 28.
The members shared, ”We missed our UK family and can’t wait to be back to celebrate the release and the new chapter of what’s to come.”

Breakout star Hamdi releases newest single “Counting” on Deadbeats

Hamdi’s meteoric rise to prominence has garnered acclaim from renowned music critics and tastemakers worldwide, with support pouring in from electronic music heavyweights such as Zeds Dead, Skrillex, Knife Party, Fred Again.., and Porter Robinson. Last year, we included Hamdi on our annual 40 Artists To Watch list and the attention he’s been getting this year proves others are paying attention, as well.
His latest release, “Counting,” comes via the Zeds Dead label Deadbeats and it’s a prime example of why Hamdi has been garnering so much praise. It’s a brilliant mix of old 140 dubstep and more intense riddim that bridges the gap for old heads like myself and the new wave of bass fans entering the scene the past few years.
In addition to the highly anticipated release of “Counting,” Hamdi has an exciting collaboration with Zeds Dead in the pipeline and will make his debut at the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre for Dead Rocks 9 in July, further cementing his presence on the global electronic music stage.

1788-L finally reveals his face & new logo ahead of “new era” of music

When he debuted in 2018, 1788-L was everything. He was on every lineup, had collaborations with Rezz, Illenium, and more, and was hyped to become a leader in the midtempo scene. Then, the pandemic happened. While some soldiered through and found success with live streams and other forms of engagement, others retreated and focused on mental health, production, brand, design, or just themselves.
Whatever the case, 1788-L’s output in COVID era decreased compared to the previous few years, but that all changes soon. With a new logo reveal, as well as the first time he’s publicly shown his face, a new era of 1788-L is upon us.
Will there be new music? Almost certainly. New shows announced? Most likely. The form and style of which is to be determined. But if you’ve been hibernating as a fan, you’re going to want to follow him now as he has something up his sleeve.

Skrillex teases new collabs with Boys Noize, G-Rex, Peekaboo & Flowdan, & Hamdi in the coming weeks

Some of Skrillex’s biggest IDs are still yet to come as he’s teased a few new tracks on social media featuring some of dance music’s favorite newcomers and heaviest hitters.
“Fine Day” with Boys Noize, “BADDAS” with G-Rex, Peekaboo, and Flowdan, and “Push” with Hamdi and TAICHU are all slated for release in the next few weeks, as singles for either his third or fourth albums this year. Following the release of Quest For Fire and Don’t Get Too Close, Skrillex has promised two more albums in 2023. Clearly he’s here to make up for lost time and we’re all here for it.

Hong Kong’s Producer & DJ Yaat Is Poised For Global Success

Hong Kong-based producer Yaat is methodically taking over the dance music scene with his fresh take on beloved genres like tech house, psy-slap, and pop. Formerly known as Yaman, Yaat has already seen success with his debut release “Jenny from the Block,” which is gearing up to reach the 1.5 million streams mark on Spotify. 
Yaat’s follow-up to the Jennifer Lopez cover was a collaboration with UK producer DC13, “Crave Your Love,” which has also garnered massive attention. Yaat’s success was partly fuelled by NFT platform monkmafia.io, which has helped raise over $13,500 for 20% royalties from “Jenny from the Block.” With confirmed performances at the S2O Festival in Hong Kong and the Road to Unseen Festival, Yaat is a producer who’s here to stay. In the midst of a busy season, Hong Kong’s mega-club Boomerang is gearing up for a number of massive announcements. 
Back in 2021, Boomerang was able to land on DJ Mag’s colossal Top 100 Clubs list in 2021 while being open for just 4 months. Fast forward to 2022, and the club jumped to #72 on the prestigious list while having further cemented itself as a true clubbing gem in the region. 
Now, Boomerang is proud to announce its inclusion on DJ Mag’s Top 100 Clubs list for the third year in a row, climbing up 20 positions to #52. DJ Mag’s Top 100 Clubs ranking includes iconic dance music venues such as Ushuaïa Ibiza, Bootshaus, Exchange LA and DC-10, and this inclusion for yet another year only further proves Boomerang’s prowess as a dance music hotspot in the blossoming region of Asia.

N2N & Modern Lover Team Up For Thrilling Underground Single “Under Control” via Where The Heart Is Imprint

Over the last eight years, N2N has built quite an impressive career. In 2018, he was mentioned by Billboard in its list of the nine best sets from Burning Man, and the year prior he had the opportunity to perform for a global audience in New York’s Mixmag Lab. In the studio, his versatility shines through, as his groovy feel-good style has ‘landed him major label signings, including Deadmau5’s imprint hau5trap, as well as support from Fatboy Slim, Chris Lake, David Guetta, Idris Elba and more. Beyond the decks, Nick has become an outspoken advocate for mental health and suicide awareness. A survivor himself, he hopes to use his platform to break down the stigma associated with depression and encourage others in similar situations to speak freely in a time heavily dictated by external appearance.
Now, he’s back with a thrilling new single, teaming up with vocalist Modern Lover for “Under Control” via David Hohme’s Where The Heart Is imprint. It’s an infectious underground tune featuring a glimmering vocal from Modern Lover. The melodies blend effortlessly, culminating in a pulsating four-on-the-floor beat and an irresistibly bouncy bassline.
It’s yet another beautifully done track from N2N. We had the pleaseure to speak to him about this single along with other aspects of his career. Enjoy!
How did your experience at Burning Man influence your music and career?
The biggest thing Burning Man has done for me as a performer is to appreciate the floor in front of me. I used to feel disappointment if I weren’t playing to a packed club, or if I were opening and nobody had arrived yet. I’ve played incredible parties at Burning Man where 15 people were on the dance floor having the time of their lives. My responsibility as a DJ is to whomever is on the dance floor at that current moment. Obviously it’s done tremendous things for my career, for which I’m eternally grateful.
What inspired you to develop your unique take on house music?
I started DJing in NYC when I was 18, playing open format clubs for years. It was a class in reading the crowd, but beyond that, gave me an appreciation for incorporating multiple genres in the same set. Now that I’m strictly four on the floor oriented, I still like to incorporate different genres into my set, but under the umbrella of house. It’s more fun as a listener if you’re not getting the same vibe at the same frequencies for 90 minutes.
How did you start working with David Hohme and the record label “Where The Heart Is”?
I met David nearly 10 years ago through the BangOn community in New York. I’ve always had a lot of respect for him as a performer, and over the years we developed a friendship that grew as we started to connect over things outside of music. I rarely make music that’s a sonic fit for WTHI, but when I was showing him some demos I made last year, he highlighted this one and asked if it had been signed yet. The rest is history, and here we are!
What’s the story behind your song with Modern Lover and what’s the meaning of the title of the song?
Makayla and I met over the internet, when I was digging on Beatport for vocalists. We ended up spending Thanksgiving 2021 together in Los Angeles, eating Chinese food and working on random sketches (including Hit & Run on Country Club Disco). Makayla had the idea for the vocal, based on the concept of an unhealthy & controlling relationship (hence the title). We spent some time thinking about the vibe of the song, and eventually the first draft of what you hear today was there within the hour.
As a passionate vegan, how do you incorporate veganism into your life and career?
I like to wear clothes when I travel or perform that encourage conversations. If I play a show and wear a shirt from Don’t Eat the Homies, maybe someone will see it and be curious about the message or something like that.
Which qualities do you prioritize in a record label and what drew you to WTHI?
A lot of things come to mind here. You can approach it from the ‘who’s got the best connections with playlisters at Spotify or other DSPs’ or the ‘who’s got the biggest DJ promo pool.’ At the same time, personal relationships are important. A label can have the best connections in the world, but if they’re a bag of dicks then I have no interest in working with them.
What can fans look forward to from N2N in the upcoming year, both in terms of music and advocacy efforts?
More cats, more mental health, more touring, more music. I’ve set a goal of a release a month for 2023, which we’re on track to achieve. Trying to hit as many new markets as possible so I can start to build a wider audience and keep growing :). I love what I do, and I can’t wait to just do more of it.

 &friends and Phina Asa reimagine Armin Van Buuren’s iconic anthem “This Is What It Feels Like”

This year is the 10th anniversary of the original release of Armin Van Buuren’s pivotal “This Is What It Feels Like”. Lyrically, the song sings of resilience and strength, and the sense of triumph earned from overcoming adversity.  Brimming with passion and emotion, Phina Asa brings her unique energy to the cut, conveying the depth of her conviction and the power of determination.

Someone gave birth during Zedd’s set at EDC

We’ve heard a lot of wild things people have done at music festivals. From outright sex on the dance floor to spraying breast milk on an unsuspecting crowd, some people take the freedom at music festivals a bit too seriously. We would also never suggest attending a festival so pregnant you’re about to burst (though Alison Wonderland had an ambulance on standby), but apparently someone actually gave birth during Zedd’s set at kineticFIELD at EDC this past weekend.
Cristina Celis and her husband welcomed their child at the main stage of Electric Daisy Carnival this past weekend. According to GDE, the baby was born 6 weeks early and “named Izzabela with an extra Z as the mother Marie Garcia gave her another “Z” in honor of Zedd.” However, as the name of the Twitter user who claims to be the mother and the name that GDE gives don’t match, we’re hesitant to fully lean into that bit of information.
Regardless, the circle of life continues and stranger things will always happen. Congratulations to the new parents and we’re sure this young child will grow up with a raver mindset.

ILLENIUM releases animated movie ‘STARFALL’ paired with his latest album

With only about 90 minutes of advance notice, ILLENIUM announced to fans that he had created an animated short-film centered around music from his latest album, ILLENIUM. ‘Starfall’ is an animated sci-fi adventure, boasting cinematic imagery inspired by gaming and anime, adding a whole new dimension to the star-studded album. It’s said to “prime fans to experience ILLENIUM in person when his tour kicks off at the end of the month.”
“We worked incredibly hard to create this piece,” said ILLENIUM. “I’m so proud of my team especially my VJ, Sandy, for leading the project and bringing this world to life. So excited to finally be sharing this with you all and I hope you enjoy.”

Planet Zuzy releases debut single, “Higher”

Kill The Noise drops first single of new album “Ultraviolent” with Shadow Cliq

It took Kill The Noise six years from his first album to drop his second, last year’s EMBRACE. But he’s quick on his own heels to drop his third studio album this year, HOLLOW WORLD. The first single from the album is already out, as well, “Ultraviolent” featuring future metal duo Shadow Cliq.
While EMBRACE featured many of the old Kill The Noise bangers we first fell in love with him for, it was definitely a more diverse albums with many different tempos and energies. For its own part, “Ultraviolent” takes after the banger side — that doesn’t mean all of HOLLOW WORLD will follow this theme, but it’s a hell of a start.

SLANDER drops new single “Wish I Could Forget” ft. blackbear And Bring Me The Horizon

What could be considered SLANDER’s biggest collaboration yet is out now as “Wish I Could Forget” releases today with blackbear and Bring Me The Horizon.
The new single marks SLANDER’s first time collaborating with the multi-platinum-selling artists. We have been fans of both of them for years, so to hear bear and Oli together on one track is truly incredible.”

Skrillex, LUDMILLA, Duki & King Doudou team up for “Vai Sentando” off FAST X Soundtrack

In the midst of Skrillex producing his third and fourth albums this year, following up Quest For Fire and Don’t Get Too Close released in February, he’s also had time to team up with LUDMILLA, Duki, and King Doudou for a track on the official FAST X soundtrack out today.
If you’ve seen any of the Fast films, you know how well this track fits into the universe they’ve established. It has a ton of Latin flair with a noticeably high-octane production that would fit in any race meetup, or even a simple character intro. Within the Fast universe, it’s extremely versatile but even separating it from the franchise, it’s just a super fun track on its own.

Rezz & Grabbitz release new single ‘Signal’ off Rezz’s upcoming ‘IT’S NOT A PHASE’ EP

“Signal” serves as the second single off Rezz’s forthcoming IT’S NOT A PHASE EP, due out this summer, and the anticipated sequel to her and Grabbitz‘ previous release, “Someone Else” released in 2020. The single notably serves a more alt-rock vibe than their previous collaboration, adding some more live instrumentation and plenty of the Grabbitz vocals we know and love, as well.
Embracing the distinct elements of rock and electronic music, “Signal” fortifies the nostalgic references and cross-genre impulses present throughout Rezz’s upcoming IT’S NOT A PHASE EP. “Signal” continues Rezz’s mission to bridge the gap between rock and bass music, a sound that draws inspiration from the punk bands of her teen years and the modern electronic influences that have sonically defined her.
Regarding the track, Rezz said, “This second collaboration with Grabbitz confirmed that we need to make WAY more music together. It’s the perfect blend between punk and mid-tempo and I couldn’t be more stoked. I think day 1 fans will enjoy this, as well as new punk fans!”
Grabbitz added, “It’s hard to top the feeling that ‘Someone Else’ gives, but I speak for both of us in saying I think we did.”
