The Gulf Coast’s premiere music festival is back. Hangout festival has just announced the lineup for its 13th edition taking place on Alabama’s southern coast, a prime spring break destination, May 17-19.
This year’s lineup showcases the festival’s commitment to diversity as Zach Bryan, Lana Del Rey and ODESZA will be the headliners. The Chainsmokers will be the main dance headliner; other dance acts featured on the lineup include Alison Wonderland, Dom Dolla, Subtronics, a Chromeo DJ set, Daily Bread and a couple of sick b2bs from Odd Mob x OMNOM and VNSSA b2b Nala.
Again, Hangout features more than dance music. Up and coming young pop artists like Dominic Fike and Reneé Rapp are also among the second line artists. Both old and new vanguards of hip-hop are represented with Nelly and NLE Choppa on the lineup. If you’re more inclined toward guitar-based rock, Cage the Elephant, A Day to Remember and All Time Low also round out the lineup.

The first couple months of the year are like the offseason for sports. There’s no actual events happening, but there’s all sorts of speculation and waiting for lineups to drop. Although they were early in dropping their Stage 1 lineup, we would be remiss to not mention Sziget Festival taking place in Budapest, Hungary from August 7-12.
Featuring Fred Again.., Martin Garrix, Sam Smith and Stormzy as headliners, Sziget is one of the premiere European festivals to visit, not just because of its stellar lineup, which ventures outside the dance music realm, but also because of its magical location on Budapest’s Óbuda Island. Other dance music highlights include Four Tet, Richie Hawtin, Dom Dolla and ARTBAT. For non-EDM fans, two names that stand out on the lineup are former One Direction-er Louis Tomlinson and indie-rock faves Big Thief.
Secure your tickets for Sziget here. If you can afford the plane ticket, Sziget is truly one of the best values for any European festival. Check out the after-movie for last year’s edition of Sziget to see what you’re missing out on. Announced lineup is below as well.

Emerging electronic pop/rock duo Close To Monday have proven they can do it all, from thrilling four on the floor hits to dystopian, Blade-runner esque tracks that seem to melt your mind in the most beautiful way.
Now, they’re back with a new single “First Class” that once again explores a more cinematic approach with tones reminiscent of New Order and Ladytron. The composition explores the theme of a man ensnared in his ambition and thirst for material success, ultimately transforming into a metaphorical monster trapped in the gilded confines of first-class luxury on an airplane.
The music pays a perfect compliment, as swirling melodies intertwined with Ann’s mesmerizing vocals take the listener into the atmosphere of mystery and intrigue. The lyrics unravel the tale of a hero entangled in the snares of his own ambitions, with complex, somewhat eerie synth arrangements amplifying the emotional twists and tragic facets of the character. Each note and melody serves as a poignant moment in the unfolding narrative, intentionally placed there by Close to Monday.
Promising a new single each month, we can count on hearing plenty more from them this year.

Native Instruments today announced iZotope VEA, a new AI-powered Voice Enhancement Assistant for podcasters and content creators.
VEA features AI technology that listens first, then enhances audio so creators can feel more confident with their voice and deliver better-sounding content. VEA increases clarity, sets more consistent levels, and reduces background noise on any voice recording.
“Many people don’t love the sound of their voice when listening back to a recording,” explains Todd Baker, VP Product at Native Instruments. “VEA quickly polishes your vocal sound so you can feel more confident as a host or narrator. VEA is also easy to use even if you haven’t worked with audio tools before, so you can spend more time focusing on what you want to say, not on how you sound.”
For people new to audio production, VEA features three simple controls intelligently set by iZotope’s AI technology. Those more familiar with editing vocal recordings will find a new way to finish productions quickly by consolidating their effects chains and saving on CPU.
Key features:
The Shape control ensures audio sounds professional and audience-ready, without having to worry about an EQ. Shape is tailored to each voice, and matches the sound of top creators or podcasts with the free iZotope Audiolens tool.
The Boost control adds loudness and compression as it’s turned up. Easily boost the presence and power of voice recordings without spending time struggling with settings. Boost delivers a smooth and even sound to speech for a more engaging listening experience.
The Clean control takes background noise out of the spotlight so every voice can shine. VEA learns the noise in the room automatically and preserves speech for light, transparent noise reduction.
VEA works as a plugin within major digital audio workstations (DAWs) and non-linear editors (NLEs). For a list of officially supported hosts, see the System Requirements at www.izotope.com/vea.

The Chemical Brothers have been doing it for almost thirty years, however, their music remains as innovative today as it was in the 90s. Not only did they just release their 10th studio album, they’re still a major draw on the festival circuit as well. Now, one of the legendary electronic duo’s more recent releases gets a fresh remix from a house music veteran.
UK House maestro Chris Lake has just released his blistering new remix of “No Reason.” Taking the funk and rhythm of the original as well as the iconic bassline, Chris Lake takes a retro sounding track onto the modern dancefloor. The Chemical Brothers original rendition is a wonderful track, but the Chris Lake remix really makes it feel like a modern dancefloor heater.

Featuring an iconic piano sample, “Deep in Your Love” actually follows the same formula as Bebe Rexha’s most recent collabs with David Guetta, “Blue (I’m Good)” and “One in a Million.” Rexha’s vocals soar over an instantly recognizable dance music track. ALOK seamlessly manages to connect old and new sounds on this one with modern, pulsating bassline laid over ethereal piano notes.

STMPD RCRDS is starting off 2024 with another brilliant release from Eleganto, “Make Me Feel”. This time the Spanish producer teams up with Myke Tyler for an emotionally affecting and truly beautiful track.
Myke Tyler, a former football player, initially reached out to Eleganto by DM’ing him on IG. The tracks powerful lyrics reflect Tyler’s battle with cancer. Clearly, this was a perfect pairing as Eleganto’s emotional synths at the drop lay the groundwork for what is just a great track that you can listen to over and over. The synths feel modern, but, combined with the vocals and bassline, really take you back to a certain 2013 frame of mind. Boxy, but melodic piano keys building toward a euphoric finish.
“The creative process was very straightforward,” Eleganto says. “We exchanged ideas via WhatsApp and instagram, he sent me the vocals and I worked on the instrumental around it. Working with Myke was very inspiring for me also. He is the nicest person ever, we need more of that great energy in the world.’’
“Make Me Feel” is out now on STMPD. Check out this live stream of his from a few months back too.

Oliver Heldens is starting off 2024 by heading back to his roots. The Dutch superstar producer has just teamed up with young American up-and-comer Ian Asher to re-imagine Sérgio Mendes’ iconic 1966 worldwide hit, “Mas Que Nada.” In fact, it was Asher who first posted an edit of the original track and went viral. However, the final version of the track is very reminiscent of some of Oliver’s early tracks like Koala and Gecko. The bass, synths and tempo are unmistakably Oliver.
“I’ve always loved the vocals of the timeless ‘Mas Que Nada,’ and over the years, I must’ve played it in hundreds of my DJ sets in several mashups/remixes, which always got great reactions from the crowds,” Oliver Heldens says. “Last year I really liked what Ian did in his initial viral sound with the stuttering/gated vocal drop, so when he approached me to collaborate on it and finish it together, I had no doubts at all! I’m glad I could do my thing with it by adding a funky, distinctive melodic bassline while staying true to Ian’s initial idea, keeping the main focus on the stuttered ‘Mas Que Nada’ vocal. It’s been a pleasure working with Ian, and it’s such an honor to get the approval of the legendary Sergio Mendes!”
“It was fascinating to see the incredible reaction to Ian’s initial sampling of the song.” Sérgio Mendes says. “It’s always flattering when young artists want to reinterpret one of my songs, and I’m eager to see what happens with this release,” said the three-time Grammy Award® winner and Oscar®-nominated songwriter.
Ian Asher adds, “I’m so excited to be working with one of my favorite artists Oliver Heldens, and the Brazilian legend Sérgio Mendes to rework his classic ‘Mas Que Nada’! I first posted a snippet of the edit last summer, and when I did, I had no idea that it would become such a viral moment that would be shared around the world… even being heard by Sérgio, the man himself who made the song famous so many years ago. After getting his blessing and working on it with Oliver, I think we made something that’ll be a weapon on the dance floors for many years to come.”

We’re a couple of weeks into 2024 and we’ve got a full slate of new music to start the year off right. One of the first of many massive releases to come out this year, Dutch veteran Nicky Romero teams up with Deniz Koyu for “Tomorrow Comes.” Featuring inspiring vocals from Jaimes, “Tomorrow Comes” is the perfect melodic tune to lift your spirits and get you thinking about festivals heading into the new year.
“Tomorrow Comes” is the ultimate blend of soaring, anthemic synths and powerful, emotional vocals that is sure to make this one a hit in any DJ set this year. The song starts out highlighting Jaimes’ impressive vocals, and like I said, they hit. The chorus is incredible. “You’re going to wake up to better days, yeah, tomorrow comes, tomorrow comes your way. Don’t be afraid if your heart’s still aching, tomorrow comes, yeah, tomorrow comes your way.” The drop is a soaring synth melody that will have you bouncing for joy.
Jaimes recently joined Nicky Romero to perform “Tomorrow Comes” live at Nicky’s recent Nightvision solo show in Amsterdam last month. Check out this clip of their performance below. “Tomorrow Comes” is out now on Protocol.

Dyro makes his Dim Mak Debut with an alluring Electro House track, “To The Beat,” combining a thumping low end under a memorable synth lead and sexy vocal.
With an alluring whispering vocal from RayRay and Dyro’s signature electro sounds, “To The Beat” proves to be the perfect dance floor heater and a brilliant meeting of the minds between the two artists.
“I’ve created ‘To The Beat’ with the dancefloor in mind. Initially, I was working around a vocal sample, but teaming up with RayRay, we lifted the track to a new level. Tested during ADE – the track went off!! I can’t wait to play this out more and see the crowd respond. Having Steve and Dim Mak’s confidence in pushing this as the first of a new collaboration between myself and Dim Mak makes for an exciting start to 2024!” – Dyro
RayRay adds, “It was fun to work with Dyro. He reached out to me with the floor-hitting production a few months ago, and we puzzled the ideas together and came up with the banger! I can’t wait to kick off my 2024 with ‘To The Beat’ collaboration with Dim Mak! Much appreciated for the support from Steve and the label!”
RayRay Dyro’s journey to the upper ranks of the global electronic music scene has been fast and swift, marking him out amongst his peers as one of the most talented DJ/producers to emerge from what was an explosive new generation of artists.

Fast forward just a few short years & Dyro exploded as an entity in his own right, marking his steps in history by becoming the youngest ever highest entry in the acclaimed DJ Mag Top 100 poll, remaining in the top 30 echelons of this prestigious list for three consecutive years. Starting Out on an upward trajectory ever since his inaugural releases on Revealed Recordings, as a producer, Dyro continuously crafted and developed his sound and personal tastes via darker and more experimental strains of electronic music. The launch of his solo imprint WOLV saw Dyro further hone his original take on driving bass lines and grittier sounds.
