Earlier this year, OMNOM and Odd Mob unveiled their collaborative project, HYPERBEAM. Now, following a series of successful collaborations, they've returned to Insomniac Records with their debut EP, The Unexplained.
Drawing from house and minimal tech influences, the record delivers a powerful blend of club-ready beats and forward-thinking sound design. It features previously released singles "Mind Awake, Body Asleep" and "All Day, All Night," and introduces two new songs, "Okay Fine" and "Reading My Mind (feat. Sarah de Warren)."
Each otherworldly track not only rolls with infectious grooves, but also possesses a hypnotic quality that invites us to lose ourselves in the moment on the dancefloor. With its dark and ominous undercurrents, The Unexplained is a captivating listen from front to back.
"When we get together, we just bounce ideas off each other really fast," Odd Mob told EDM.com in a joint interview earlier in 2024. "I think just working really fast together is what has glued it all together, I suppose. Just the speed."

Levity's latest single embodies the grit and guts of Chicago's bass music scene, and  once more the trio is turning heads and twisting dancefloors.
From the outset, "Front to Back" lays down a gauntlet with its hook, "Front to the back, know what it is when I jump on a track," delivering a clear and compelling message of the trio's dancefloor dominance. The track is a thrilling ride of sonic dynamics, characterized by its expert manipulation of tension and release. Its standout wobble bass ebbs and flows with a life of its own, bringing an element of surprise and spontaneity while intertwining seamlessly with its sharp, punchy vocal hooks.
The presence of a deep, resonant sub bass adds a foundational rumble that ensures the track’s impact is felt as much as it is heard, vibrating through the listener's core.  Together, the trio's creative elements come together in a way that's sure to excite the head-banging audience.
Lately, the recent EDM.com Class of 2024 inductees have been making it look easy, dropping a string of surefire thrillers including "Flip It" and a big remix of Billy Gillies' "DNA." Thus far, "Front To Back" marks their first original offering of 2024. Take a listen below and find it on streaming platforms here.

As the echoes of Noisia's monumental two-decade career continue to resonate through the world of electronic music, The Resonance VII emerges as a thrilling ode to their indelible influence.
The new remix album not only revisits the iconic group's groundbreaking sound, but also entrusts it to the innovative hands of contemporary bass music innovators, ensuring the spirit of Noisia lives on with ferocity and finesse.
The remix album opens with Eptic's reinterpretation of "Stigma," a track that instantly sets a high bar with its furious, bass-laden risers and spitfiring synths that shoot through the mix with precision-engineered chaos. Eptic, known for his meticulous craftsmanship, wraps Noisia’s original in a whirlwind of heightened tension to deliver a respectful tribute to the trio.
Elsewhere on the album, NGHTMRE takes the reins with a remix of "Voodoo," opening with vibrant, sweeping synths that build into a crescendo of stomping dubstep drums and rumbling basslines. As if weaving a spell, the track conjures the raw, untamed energy of a live Noisia performance, encapsulating the essence of the original while propelling it to new, exhilarating heights.
Of course, for the diehard drum & bass enthusiasts, The Resonance VII offers layers of complexity and innovation that merit a closer inspection. Among the standout tracks, Xtrah's remix of "Omissions" and LeStR's "Hideous" serve up dexterous drums that intricately weave through high-energy, warping transitions complemented by powerful one-shots that punctuate the mix while paying homage to the technical prowess for which Noisia is best known.
In 2022, the legendary drum & bass ensemble laid down their headphones for the final time, leaving behind a legacy of fearless sonic exploration and revolutionary tracks. Fans have known that despite their last moments, amid the emotional swells of their final performance, that their work would live on—and The Resonance VII is no better proof. Listen to the most flavour-packed tracks we discovered this week.
We’re back this week! Did you miss your new choo-choons last Friday? We know you did.
Music makes the world go round. And in that regard, we’re constantly on the lookout for new, exciting tunes to share with our audience. We’ve found some that cause goosebumps, and make you open your eyes and get up from your chair to dance. So put on your best pair of headphones, or turn up your speakers, and enjoy this week’s New Music Friday.
Here are our top picks for the best music we came across this week, in no particular order.
Ørjan Nilsen & Mark Sixma pres. nilsix – Gone
Genre: Trance
Kicking off the week with a curator’s favourite. In case you didn’t know, two of the absolute finest Trance acts out there have been rocking a conjoint alias for a while. I’m talking about nilsix, the duo comprised of Ørjan Nilsen and Mark Sixma. Tracks like ‘Old’s Cool’ and ‘Anhedonia’ impacted the industry for all the good reasons, and this time, they’re back for more.
‘Gone‘ is nilsix’s latest offering. Releasing on Dreamstate Records, the track showcases a fresh take on the Progressive Trance / Trance sound we all know and love from these two. Enjoy the call of opening and closing saw plucks, gated vocals, oomphy low ends, and endless amounts of fun for the dancefloor.
CASSIMM feat. Mahalia Fontaine – Say Yeah
Genre: House, Tech House
House producer CASSIMM returns to the iconic T-shaped label Toolroom with ‘Say Yeah‘, featuring the raspy, uplifting voice of Mahalia Fontaine. The Italian artist continues his streak after ‘Love Desire’, one of his 2023 singles, skyrocketed to the top spot on the Beatport Top 10 chart.
A funky tune from all angles, CASSIMM’s expertise in bass guitar can be heard and felt. Pair that with the optimal choice of Disco-infused House percussion and Mahalia’s incredible vocals, and it all seems to be tailored to fit like a glove. This one must be quite the experience at a club.
Quivver – That Place You Know
Genre: Progressive House
As someone who regularly listens to Quivver‘s remix of ‘Sacred Cycles’ — a Progressive gem, mind you, from the year 2000 — it’s truly a pleasure to have him make an appearance on our NMF series. Once a recurrent DJ Mag Top 100 act, he hasn’t ceased to create banger after banger, always adapting to the new sounds while retaining that melodic essence of his.
Out on your favourite platform, Quivver’s latest EP came out on Franky Wah’s SHÈN Recordings. Progressive House at its finest, may I say. The EP’s A-side is titled ‘That Place You Know‘, and has the potential to wreck dancefloors, but also to send you in a journey of introspection. This is quality music right here. You know it when you feel it!
Extra Terra – Feel the AGI
Genre: Melodic Techno
Extra Terra is quite the artist. I remember finding out about him in the year 2016, while coming across his single ‘Paradox’ by accident. That little Dubstep track took a couple of months to finally leave my head. It was so good! Over the years, he’s positioned himself as one of the most cutting-edge Cyberpunk-styled producers out there.
Following the steps of his past albums CONVERGENCE 2045 and PROJEKT 2077, Extra Terra’s latest release is titled ‘Feel the AGI‘, and it comes to grace your ears with a refined Melodic Techno vibe, and a dark, AI-inspired theme. Tense sounds meet seemingly generated vocals, and to complete the picture, a world-class game of tension and release.
Nikademis, 9 Worlds & Donna Tella – Waking Up In A Dream
Genre: Future Bass
This one is a collaboration of proportions. We’ve got a track here that blew us away, and it comes to you courtesy of producers Nikademis, 9 Worlds and one of the most iconic voices of Dubstep and Future Bass, Donna Tella. It’s called ‘Waking Up In A Dream‘.
Donna Tella’s soft voice pairs perfectly with the high energy provided by each and every piece of the beat, while complementing the melodic aspect of the arrangement too. If you’re looking for one of those special songs to listen to and feel something inside you, this one will do you much good.
No Logo – You Are One
Genre: House
When I found this track, it got me hooked in an instant. It sounds so beautiful, so groovy, with such an old-school sound, I thought it was too good to be true. But it isn’t, and instead, it is a song so real that it came out today. This is ‘You Are One‘, by No Logo.
Doing my fair share of research, I found out why I dug the track straight away. No Logo is a duo, one commanded by the likes of Steve Miller, the super producer behind Downtempo sensation Afterlife — not the label — and Cafe Mambo Ibiza resident Pete Gooding. They’ve been making a return since a six-year hiatus, and, honestly, I’m all for it.

Courtesy of Spectrum label boss Joris Voorn and AVIRA comes a cover of Cygnus X’s classic ‘The Orange Theme’. Building on the ‘90s Trance sound with evolving synth melodies and a compelling bassline, this debut linkup is sure to resonate with fans old and new! Very interesting choice indeed! To slow down an upbeat trance classic and remaster it into a delicious Melodic House groove. Let’s deconstruct this Armada’s track shall we?
Refreshing ‘The Orange Theme’
The real ones will recognize ‘The Orange Theme’ as a staple of tech trance. With a very upbeat bassline and fun acid elements, the track is as uplifting as it is a dancefloor fire-starter. Now grab the melodic mastery of Canada’s Avira and the dexterity of Techno aficionado Joris Voorn to twist the track into an orange delight. In effect, the track is now a dreamy simulation of what it once was. The powerful synths took over and instead of a filthy acid we have deep echoes and stutters. Even though the track is significantly slower, the drop is just as impactful and dirty. The combination of Joris and AVIRA’s styles results in an incredible showcase of production. We hope that this duo continues to work together and craft more spiritually awakening tracks, such as this one.
More of Joris Voorn
Joris Voorn, a Dutch DJ and producer, has become a prominent figure in the global electronic music landscape. Hailing from the Netherlands, a country with a surprisingly vast influence on the genre, Voorn embodies the spirit of Amsterdam’s underground techno scene, a melting pot of musical styles. Voorn’s artistic background extends beyond music. He’s a modern-day touring DJ with a deep appreciation for contemporary art, photography, and architecture, evident in his social media presence and album covers.
His musical journey began in Tilburg, Netherlands, where he was born to musically inclined parents. His breakout came with the ‘Muted Trax EP’ on Keynote, followed by the critically acclaimed'”Lost Memories EP’ on Sino. Tracks like ‘Incident’ from the 2004 ‘Lost Memories Part 2’ became staples in the sets of renowned DJs like Carl Cox, Derrick May, and Laurent Garnier. Voorn’s success extends beyond singles. He has released three well-received artist albums: ‘Future History’ (2004), ‘From A Deep Place’ (2007), and ‘Nobody Knows’ (2014), which Billboard Magazine voted the electronic album of the year. Additionally, his mix compilations for labels like Fuse, Balance, and Fabric have garnered praise.
Ibiza has been a mainstay in Voorn’s touring schedule. From early gigs to recent residencies at ANTS and Elrow, he has carved a space for himself on the island. Beyond Ibiza, Voorn is a regular at prominent clubs and festivals worldwide, performing across Europe, Asia, North and South America, and Australia. In addition, you can’t forget his heavy involvement with Drumcode. Joris Voorn’s dedication to his craft and influence on the global electronic music scene is undeniable. He continues to push boundaries, both geographically and musically, leaving a lasting impact on the industry. (source)
More of AVIRA
AVIRA is the newest project of Canadian Producer Assaf. Although it only started in early 2020. He has received major support from Armada Music and Trance entity Armin Van Buuren. With his dark synths and unique take on Melodic Techno, AVIRA has graced the progressive/melodic scene. Now with collaborations with Odd One Out’s YOTTO, and Joris Voorn, we can’t wait for more and more of him.
Are you feeling the citrus? Have a tall glass of ‘The Orange Theme’.

The organizers of Stagecoach, the massive country music festival, have invited some unexpected guests to the honky-tonk.
The Chainsmokers and Marshmello, two acts more accustomed to bass drops than steel guitars, will be saddling up in the Coachella Valley this weekend. The EDM superstars will throw down at Diplo's HonkyTonk, a stage blurring the lines of country and dance music.
Other notable DJs performing at Diplo's curated stage over the weekend include Cheat Codes, Cloonee, Dillon Francis and VAVO, the lattermost of whom have surged in popularity due to their viral remixes of country hits like Morgan Wallen's "Last Night."
While the nexus of country and dance music is a frail one, it has led to some big hits. Back in 2018, The Chainsmokers joined forces with country-pop artist Kelsea Ballerini for "This Feeling." A year later, Marshmello collaborated with superstar country singer Kane Brown to release "One Thing Right."
Stagecoach returns from April 26-28 at the Empire Polo Club in Indio. This year’s headliners are Eric Church, Miranda Lambert and Morgan Wallen, who are joined on the undercard by Jelly Roll, Elle King, Post Malone, The Beach Boys and Willie Nelson & Family, among others.
Stagecoach attendees can find the festival's performance schedule and set times here.

LEVEL UP is making waves with her biggest collaborations yet in 2024. After releasing her decimating track with DIESEL last month, she's returned with a high-powered new single alongside Underaoth's Aaron Gillespie, "Hallow Heart."
"Hallow Heart" is everything you could want out of a collaboration with Gillespie. The pair have taken the fiery sound of Underoath and infused it with LEVEL UP's heavyweight dubstep, pushing a genre crossover to its limits. Gillespie's lyrics sift through the pain of heartbreak and the frustrations that come along with it.
Playing perfectly into his lyrics, LEVEL UP's angsty production provides the perfect accompaniment. It amplifies Gillespie's rage with whirling synths and stomping basses to convey emotions gone haywire. It's one of her hardest-hitting songs to-date and a surefire crowd favorite heading into her upcoming summer festival run.

TikTok has fired back at the U.S. ban law. Bytedance, the parent company that owns TikTok, announced they would rather shut down U.S. TikTok operations than sell. President Biden signed a law earlier in the week that gave nine months to Bytedance to find a buyer. If it does not, it will face a ban from the U.S. market.
The nine-month deadline can be extended to three months if Bytedance can prove a sale is underway. They will have until January 19, 2025, to sell the app. TikTok’s CEO, Shou Zi Chew, vowed to fight the “unconstitutional” law in the courts:
Reuters reported that the short-form video app’s U.S. business “accounts for a small share of ByteDance’s total revenues and daily active users.” They added that closing it down in the United States “would have limited impact” on the company’s global business. Furthermore it “would not have to give up its core algorithm” to a U.S. company.
TikTok’s algorithm is its most powerful feature. They have expertly crafted an algorithm that fits each user almost perfectly on their For You Page. It has certainly gotten many people “addicted” to the app, scrolling for hours into the night.
Some have expressed concerns that China’s Government could use the app to manipulate public opinion, including during elections. Lawmakers are also concerned that Beijing can access the app’s U.S. users’ data.

As we write this article, the last remaining whispers of Coachella 2024 are fading away, crashing into the high peaks of the imposing mountains that surround the desert valley from which they originate. Like every year, those murmurs span the entirety of the multi-genre festival, from Kid Cudi's fall (which resulted in a broken foot) to the electrifying reunion of Orange County's very own No Doubt.
However, as we scroll through 'chella's trendiest online moments, one thing stands out: dance music dominance.
Setting aside Grimes-gate, one has to look no further than the impressive overhaul of the Empire Polo Club this year. The fan-favorite Do LaB was redesigned, the fabled Sahara was moved and expanded and, not to be outdone, the brand-new Quasar stage emerged from the ground like a desert mirage.

In addition to the Yuma tent, this means Coachella's vast Indio real estate comprises four spaces dedicated solely to electronic dance music. In other words, one-half of the entirety of the festival's footprint.
The landscape of this legendary locale is extending its arms, embracing the diverse soundscapes of dance music more than ever. For DJs and producers, the adoption of this once-niche genre is increasing their chances to perform at the storied Coachella.
Out of the wide-ranging roster of talented electronic artists that graced each of those four stages, we caught up with three who embodied the spirit of the festival's evolving scenery. From newcomers to seasoned pros, this trio of tastemakers is here to share their Coachella stories.
REBŪKE
Right off the heels of his impressive remix of deadmau5's iconic "Not Exactly", Rebūke launched himself headfirst into the Yuma tent for his first-ever Coachella performance.
Calling it a "celebration of five years of Rebūke," the Irish DJ and producer has spent years preparing for this moment. Speaking about the monumental occasion, he said "this particular show is a milestone of every artist, be it American or international."

After gaining notoriety with hits like "Along Came Polly" and his massive collaboration with Anyma, "Syren," the melodic techno star has more than earned his slot inside the Yuma.
Having never attended the event, Rebūke has relied on videos and photos of past festival moments to guide him on what to expect from this California staple.
"For me, Coachella is the American version of Glastonbury; that's what every European artist wants to do. This is such an important festival, not just for the fans but for the music industry and music culture," Rebūke told us. "From Daft Punk doing the pyramid back in the day and Justice doing their thing now, this is all massive stuff and I'm excited to be involved in it."
Azzecca
Another surging DJ making her first appearance inside the Empire Polo Club was Chicago's very own Azzecca. Having attended the illustrious festival multiple times as a fan, she compares her Do LaB debut to being on cloud nine.
"Sometimes when you DJ it feels like a little bit of a push and pull," Azzecca said. "But sometimes you're locked in with the crowd, it's fun for everyone involved and you can just feel it. Today, both of my sets genuinely felt like we were locked in and we partied together and it was really fun."

As much fun as Azzecca's inaugural performance was, the gravity of the moment is not lost on her.
"I never would have imagined I would be playing at Coachella right now, or playing to the crowds I'm playing to right now," she adds. "Everything for me these days feels like a peak."
Azzecca's consistency in her projects has landed her multiple slots on upcoming high-profile events including EDC Las Vegas, Elements, and ARC Music Festivals. However, she still speaks highly about the Indio venue.
"If you love music, not just dance music, but all different types of music, this is the pinnacle in America. Coachella is the best festival and if you could go you should go."
Will Clarke
For Will Clarke, who's taken to the decks at Coachella in previous years, his 2024 Yuma takeover was approached with less nerves and a bit more preparation. Adding to that ease and prep work was his familiarity with the performance space.
"The Yuma is territory that we're used to," Clarke said. "It's a dark room with a lot of people in it and I'm fortunate enough to play a lot of those rooms. "I think if I was playing Sahara or one of the other big stages it would be a different situation."
The task at hand would be overwhelming to some, but the U.K. house music vet carried on with gravitas.
"What's the worst that could happen? You could push the wrong button, the music could turn off and then you literally push another button and then it goes on again," he adds. "I'm not out here doing a Grimes, like I know how to DJ."

Although the grandeur of Coachella is not lost on Clarke, the Bristol native's disassociation with the event comes primarily from his British upbringing.
"Growing up in the U.K., you don't hear much about Coachella. And so, I came here with everyone hyping it up. "It's an unbelievable festival but it has not been part of my childhood. It's not something I've always looked up to."
So what's Clarke's Coachella equivalent? Glastonbury.
"If I was playing Glastonbury, I'd be shitting my pants right now."
Aside from controlling the dancefloor with his single, Clarke has also been leading the way in long-form conversations with his peers. His podcast, which began in April 2020, has allowed him to candidly speak with venerated artists the likes of Kaskade, Moby and A-Trak.
"The podcast comes from a place of speaking to creatives, obviously mostly electronic artists and some in-betweens," he explains. "I think it's important to be able to have normal conversations in life, not just artist on artist, but in general."
Emphasizing the need for more human connection, Clarke elaborates on his yearning to have dialogue in spaces outside of his normal work environment.
"This may sound weird, but I'm not a huge fan of going to a nightclub. I'd rather go for dinner and have a good conversation with people. For me, the conversation stops at the nightclub or the bar."
While a nightclub may not be an ideal place for a heart-to-heart, it's a great place to be introduced to new music. For Clarke, his latest track is due out next week and will feature House Gospel Choir. Time to take us to church.

Four years on from Layton Giordani’s critically acclaimed ‘New Generation’ album, Space 92 – one of techno’s most impressive new artists – steps up for a fitting remix.
A masterclass of techno futurism, the 2020 album was a defining release of that year and was an impressive marker of Giordani’s ever-evolving talents in the studio. The title track was a memorable highlight, mixing ambient textures with head scrambling synth effects make it an enduring dancefloor classic.

One of techno’s future stars Space 92 has added his touch to ‘New Generation’. With very special results. The Frenchman has super-charged the original, adding in plenty of laser-kissed energy as a barrage of powerful chords and silky pads take the cut into steamrolling territory.

“As soon as I listened to ‘New Generation’, my first thought was that this track was a perfect match to my own identity and energy. I was therefore very happy to get to remix it. Layton is a very talented producer!” – Space 92
