Franky Wah has been robbed in Ibiza, the English house music star revealed this week.
Taking to social media, the DJ said his laptop and bags were robbed on the island. Wah called on his fans and music contemporaries in the area to help him locate his belongings and their captor, offering a reward to anyone who can aid in locating the stolen belongings.
"Everything's been taken," he said in his video. "It's got so many irreplaceable items in there. All my music, my laptop, everything."
Many of Wah's fellow artists showed their support online, like techno icon Carl Cox and superstar dance music duo NERVO.

Wah is currently in Ibiza for his SHÈN residency at Club Chinois, with a Madrid stop to follow. In 2023, he released a nine-track album called Road to Ibiza, in which he soundtracked his 16-week residence on the fabled Spanish party island.
He provided an update on the theft less than 24 hours later and said none of the items had been recovered, but his team has been actively tracking them down.
"Of course I have a lot of my music backed up but there’s also lots of projects and ideas that aren’t, hours, weeks, months, years of work," he said, "which I’ll have to work relentlessly now to recover in time for my shows this weekend."

This past weekend, one of the biggest music festivals on all of the East Coast returned to New York City’s Flushing Meadows Corona Park. Governors Ball has established themselves as one of the most anticipated weekends of the year for music lovers from all over who travel to town to experience the magic of the festival. Every year, the iconic festival stacks their lineup with unbelievably talented artists over the course of 3 days defining an experience unlike any other. This year was no different with headliners, Post Malone, SZA, and The Killers taking control of the mainstage on their respective nights. Here’s a breakdown of how the festival went.
Day 1
The first day of any festival is always an exciting one as everyone explores the grounds to see all the various activations, food venders, stage locations, and all else that Governors Ball has to offer as part of the experience. The artists billed for Friday include Post Malone, Rauw Alejandro, Dominic Fike, Labrinth, Farruko, Yung Gravy and more. The great thing about Governors Ball this year is that even though there were 3 stages spread across the festival grounds, none of the headlining artists clashed in times with each other which allowed fans to catch almost all of their favorite artists. Rauw Alejandro brought in many Reggaetón fans to the gopuff stage where he performed many of his biggest hits like ‘Santa’, ‘Desesperados’, and ‘Todo De Ti’. After he concluded his performance, the crowd migrated over to the Gov Ball Mainstage, where Post Malone got ready to perform the closing set of the evening. From beginning to end of his hour and half performance, you felt the passion from him in every single song he performed. You almost forget how many hits Post Malone has until you realize that every single song he sang was iconic in their own ways. He didn’t leave out a single song as he ‘I Fall Apart’, ‘Sunflower’, ‘Circles’ and all of his other major hits that everyone knew the lyrics and sang along to. There was no doubt that he had one of the best performances of the entire weekend.
Day 2
The second day of the festival started a bit earlier but that only meant fans arrived earlier to explore the festival. Day 2 was headlined by The Killers, 21 Savage, Carly Rae Jepson, Sabrina Carpenter, and many more. Pop superstar, Sabrina Carpenter, was definitely a major highlight of the day and with her performing earlier in the afternoon, this meant the festival grounds was packed up earlier than usual. She put on an incredible performance on the Gov Ball mainstage where she sang hit songs ‘Espresso’ and her newest single ‘Please Please Please’. Another headliner that performed on the Gov Ball mainstage was Carly Rae Jepsen who created one of the most singalong moments of the festival when she performed her iconic hit ‘Call Me Maybe’. Sexyy Redd and 21 Savage performed on the gopuff stage where mayn of the hip-hop acts took place over the weekend. There was no doubt that 21 Savage was one of the most anticipated and most crowded stages of the weekend. Closing out Day 2 of the festival was the legendary rock band, The Killers. Their large library of hit tracks including ‘Mr. Brightside’, ‘When You Were Young’ and ‘Somebody Told Me’ brought in a wide variety of fans of all ages showing that their music is truly timeless.
Day 3
The final day of any music festival is always bittersweet. Having spent 2 incredible days at the festival already, there is no doubt that everyone in attendance wishes it can go on for a few more days. However, if it has to end, there is no better closing to Gov Ball than with SZA. The final day of the festival saw performances from Don Toliver, Kevin Abstract, Chappell Roan, and Peso Pluma. There is no doubt that Peso Pluma was one of the biggest highlights of the weekend. Fans of the artist were draped in the Mexican flag and gathered at his stage early to secure the best spots possible to witness him perform. Unfortunately, he fractured his leg early into his set which limited his movements throughout the rest of the performance but he didn’t let that stop him from performing an incredible show to all his loyal fans. The main attraction for the evening definitely belonged to SZA as she closed out the festival on the mainstage. Fans sang along to her all set as she performed all her biggest hits from ‘Kill Bill’, ‘All The Stars’, ‘Snooze’, and ‘Nobody Gets Me’.
Festival Grounds + Food
Governors Ball festival grounds are always widely decorated to create an immersive experience for all in attendance. Trees are covered with pink fur, various statues are placed throughout the festival and many photo opportunities are available every where you look. They also have everything situated in a way where all the food venders are in the same location and bars are collected together so that you don’t need to search too hard to figure out all your options. This year had a large variety of food options with many iconic restaurants including Roberta’s Pizza, Luke’s Lobster, Fuku, Magnolia Bakery, Van Leeuwen Ice Cream and much more. There ere also many activations spread across the festival with even an NBA Finals booth where there were many photo opps and you even the chance at watching the Finals game during the festival. Rakuten was also on site and hosted their own arcade which featured various prizes that you could win. The activations truly added to the experience for fans to enjoy in between performances.
VIP Experience
Like all other music festivals, Gov Ball offered a variety of tiers for tickets. GA, GA+ and VIP were the most accessible but there were also cabana options that gave you an elevated table section that oversaw the mainstage. If VIP is within your budget then it is definitely worth your money. Each stage had their own designated VIP viewing area that was near the front of the stage separated from the rest of the crowd. Within the VIP section, there were unique food options that were unavailable to the rest of the festival along with different games like corn hole, Jenga and other fun activities to enhance your day. There were also tables and chairs to relax at in between sets and even some shade to stay cool from the sun. The VIP section between the gopuff stage and the Gov Ball mainstage was actually connected so fans were able to hop between the stages with ease. The Gov Ball VIP experience was definitely the definition of partying in style and certainly created an elevated experience for all those who had access.
Governors Ball has established itself as one of the most anticipated music festivals across the East Coast every year. With so many talented artists billed on the lineup and the festival experience continues to evolve year after year, there is no doubt that Gov Ball is a must attend event. If you didn’t get the chance to make it out to the festival this year, make sure to stay on the look out for the date announcement for next and year and secure your tickets early because this is one festival you simply do not want to miss.

Following the release of his single, ‘Russian Roulette,’ on June 7th, DJ/producer Porter Robinson has now gifted us with an official lyric video for the track. Featuring screenshots from various social media platforms and websites, the video visually conveys the overall message of the song, touching on the pressure one can feel from modern-day social media culture.
‘Russian Roulette’ is the third single of the producer’s upcoming third album, expected to drop on July 26th. It follows ‘Knock Yourself Out XD’ released in April and ‘Cheerleader,’ released along with the album announcement in March. Clocking in at over six minutes, ‘Russian Roulette’ takes the listener a little deeper into the producer’s soul, with raw, heartfelt lyrics like “Then I close my eyes. Gamble with my life. Trying not to smile. Maybe this time, I won’t be alright.”
Arguably on the of the most influential musical acts of our time, Porter Robinson was catapulted onto the scene back in 2011 with his debut EP Spitfire. Since then he has stayed true to himself, by rejecting genre boundaries and the status quo with success. His critically acclaimed albums, Worlds (2014) and Nurture (2021), have demonstrated why the producer deserves the spotlight, and his upcoming album, SMILE! , sees the producer taking yet another turn into unknown territory with a more poppy, guitar-driven style.

At a Tape B show, it's not uncommon (in fact, it's expected) to hear some of your favorite hip-hop throwbacks along with current hits, mixed and distorted into a wobbly barrage of bass. The breakout DJ and bass music producer has now revealed his biggest tour to-date, giving fans and strangers alike the chance to experience his unique "old school x new school" style.
Along the way of the 16-show tour, which represents its first phase, other rising artists in the trap and dubstep scenes will join Tape B, including Effin, sumthin sumthin EDM.com Class of 2024 trio Levity, among others.
Prior to the announcement, Tape B in May took to social media to announce his upcoming headline show at Denver's Mission Ballroom, which now appears toward the end of the tour in November. The show sold out in a matter of hours, leaving the artist and his fans in disbelief.
But it shouldn't come as a surprise. Tape B's ascent to tour headliner is underpinned by the fact that he has sold out every show he's announced since December 2023, performed at major festivals like Lost Lands, Ultra and EDC, and most recently provided direct support for dubstep superstar Subtronics at the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado. The DJ can also attribute the surge in popularity partly to his and Mersiv's recent single "Trippy Land," which features hip-hop luminary Juicy J.

Those who share Tape B's home state of Florida are in for a treat considering four of its 16 dates are located in various major cities of the state. He promised two more phases to the tour to be announced in the weeks ahead, updates for which fans can register here.
Upcoming shows of Tape B's before the fall tour begins include Tape B & Friends Block Parties in Dallas and Austin, Texas, on the 15th and 16th respectively. He'll then travel north for Ottawa's Escapade Music Festival before performances at Breakaway Festival Minnesota, Shambhala and North Coast, among other stops.

Avicii: The Life and Music of Tim Bergling has been released
Fans of the late EDM superstar Avicii can now experience a visual narrative of his life and career. The official Avicii online shop has released a photobook available for international fans. It captures the essence of Avicii’s journey from his early days to becoming a global icon in electronic dance music. Avicii: The Life and Music of Tim Bergling is now available for purchase.
The book is filled with a collection of photographs that reveal not only Avicii’s public triumphs but also private moments seldom shared with the world. These images chronicle his evolution from a young music enthusiast to a pioneering DJ and producer.
In partnership with the Tim Bergling Foundation, the photobook serves a greater purpose beyond remembrance. Established by Avicii’s family in 2019, the foundation dedicates itself to addressing mental health issues and preventing suicide among youth. Proceeds from the photobook sales will directly support these vital initiatives.
Avicii’s parents, Klas Bergling and Anki Lidén expressed their pride in commemorating their son’s impact through this publication. “Tim’s music and legacy continue to resonate deeply with fans around the world” they stated.
The book’s narrative poses reflective questions about the makings of a star and the moments that define a legacy. It illustrates how Avicii’s signature performances and music redefined the EDM genre, leaving an enduring influence on artists and fans alike.
This follows the earlier release of Tim: The Official Biography of Avicii by Måns Mosesson in 2021. The biography offers a candid look at Avicii’s life, complementing the visual storytelling of the photo book.
Adding to the tributes, the documentary detailing Avicii’s artistic journey made its debut at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival.

This April, Spotify made waves with its controversial decision to reclassify its Premium tiers as ‘bundles’. They did so by combining music and audiobooks. This move allowed Spotify to pay a lower mechanical royalty rate to publishers and songwriters in the US. However, the backlash from songwriters and publishers has been fierce and unrelenting.
NMPA’s Fierce Response
At the National Music Publishers’ Association (NMPA) Annual Meeting in New York on June 12, NMPA boss David Israelite declared, “Spotify has declared war on songwriters. Our response shall be all-encompassing.” Indeed, the music publishing community has mobilized an aggressive campaign against Spotify. This includes a legal threat over unlicensed lyrics and a lawsuit from the Mechanical Licensing Collective (MLC) for underpaying royalties. It also calls for Congress to update copyright laws. This would allow publishers to negotiate in a free market like record labels.
FTC Complaint Filed
Adding to Spotify’s troubles, the NMPA has now filed an official complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). This accuses Spotify of “unlawful conduct” that harms millions of consumers and the music marketplace. The complaint alleges that Spotify deceived consumers by converting their music-only subscriptions into bundled audiobook-and-music subscriptions without consent, increasing prices, and complicating the process of canceling subscriptions. The NMPA claims that this practice negatively impacts music publishers and songwriters by reducing royalties and disadvantages market competitors.
Broadening the Battle
Israelite also revealed that the NMPA has referred the matter to several state attorneys general, inviting them to investigate the alleged consumer protection violations in their states. Additionally, the NMPA has reached out to leading consumer advocacy organizations, expecting them to object to Spotify’s treatment of consumers.
Addressing the audience, Israelite emphasized the NMPA’s commitment to defending songwriters and music publishers, stating, “Spotify knows that what it is doing is risky and problematic… But it is not too late for them to do the right thing.”
In response, a Spotify spokesperson defended the company’s actions as industry standard, noting that users were notified of price increases and offered multiple plans, including easy cancellations. Despite these reassurances, the dispute over Spotify’s bundling strategy and its impact on the music industry remains contentious.
Conclusion
Spotify’s attempt to expand its offerings by bundling audiobooks with its Premium plans has sparked a significant backlash from the music publishing community. Furthermore, as the battle intensifies, the outcome could have lasting implications for the music and audiobook streaming landscape. In conclusion, whether Spotify will reverse its course or continue to face mounting legal challenges remains to be seen. Be sure to check out the original complain, here.

Good news! NYC City Council has just approved new legislation to support its nightlife sector as part of Mayor Eric Adams’ ‘City of Yes’ plan to change the zoning rules of New York which was established in the city many decades ago. The ‘City of Yes for Economic Opportunity’ is made from 18 proposals and is cited for removing “outdated limitations” on businesses including the nightlife sector.
In 1926 the Cabaret Law was introduced which banned dancing comedy, and open mic nights in restaurants and venues in commercial zoning areas as well as to those without one of its hard-to-obtain licenses. And despite the law being repealed in 2017, the ’60s era Zoning laws still prohibited dancing and other actives in over 80% of NYC venues. This new legislation passed on June 6 has overused both the Cabaret Law and the zoning rules of the ’60s therefore allowing the nightlife industry to grow beyond its previous restrictions.
This new legislation finally removes these outdated zoning limitations. This means bars, clubs, and restaurants across the city can now allow dancing without fear of fines, paving the way for a more dynamic nightlife experience.

The National Music Publishers’ Association (NMPA) has lodged a formal complaint with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) against Spotify, alleging that the streaming service’s recent audiobook bundle offering has led to a decrease in royalty payments to songwriters. The NMPA claims that Spotify’s bundling of audiobooks with its subscription service constitutes a reduction in the value of music streams, thereby diminishing the royalties owed to creators.
According to the NMPA, this strategy is not only detrimental to songwriters but also deceptive to consumers, as it may have been implemented without adequate disclosure or consent. The association has estimated that this could cost songwriters and publishers $150 million over the next year. David Israelite of NMPA voiced at NMPA‘s Annual Meeting in New York “Spotify has declared war on songwriters. Our response shall be all-encompassing”
The complaint also highlights concerns regarding Spotify’s compliance with the Restore Online Shoppers’ Confidence Act. It suggests that the company may have automatically transitioned its premium users to the new bundle without offering a clear option to opt out or maintain a music-only subscription.
In response to these allegations, Spotify has defended its practices, stating that its approach to offerings and pricing is standard within the industry and that users are notified well before any changes to their subscriptions.
This dispute comes on the heels of a lawsuit filed by the Mechanical Licensing Collective against Spotify earlier this year, further intensifying the ongoing conflict between the streaming service and music publishers
Spotify has received much criticism recently for both increasing prices of subscription premiums and lack of sufficient payment to content producers on its platform.

Avicii, a name that means so much to people globally. It’s the stage name of Tim Bergling, the Swedish DJ and Producer who took the world by storm when his track Levels gained popularity in 2011. At that time Avicii was in his early twenties and had no inkling of what would soon come following his foray into the electronic dance music scene.
With songs like Wake Me Up, Without You, Hey Brother, The Nights and Waiting for Love playing on radio stations and at major festivals like Tomorrowland and Ultra Miami, Avicii became renowned globally for not only his talent but also an iconic figure that many can relate to. At just a young age, he was already touring the world, playing back to back shows and pushing himself more and more.
When people think of Avicii, they think of his songs and his untimely death. But what many aren’t aware of is that he often struggled with being an influential global figure. Over the years, Avicii often grappled with his demons, especially being unable to cope with the pressures of this world. This was evident over the years as in 2012, Avicii was diagnosed with acute pancreatitis and had his gallbladder and appendix removed.
But this setback didn’t stop Avicii, he kept pushing himself and giving fans more catchy hits and appearances. I was fortunate to have seen the legend at work at Road to Ultra in Bangkok in 2016. At that time, I was so enamored with his music and him that it never occurred to me that it would have been the first and only time I got to see him play.
Fast forward to April 20 2018, a day that shook the global dance scene to its core…when Avicii was found unresponsive in his hotel room in Oman. It wasn’t until later that we’d all come to learn that he often talked about suicidal thoughts, and being unable to deal with the pressure and lack of privacy, took his own life. Now, 6 years after his untimely death, more information has been brought forward at the recent screening of the  Avicii: I’m Tim, documentary directed by Henrik Burman which premiered at the Tribeca Festival on June 9, 2024. By showcasing the influence of his avant-garde music, which crossed genres and broke down barriers, the movie pays tribute to his brilliant and serene personality.
Although it celebrates Avicii’s career, the film also reveals new information about the DJ’s state leading up to that dreaded day of April 20th, 2018. The documentary, titled Avicii: I’m Tim, claims he was so strung out on painkillers towards the end of his life that he looked like a ‘zombie’. The never-before-seen footage features his friends, family, and famous pals such as Nile Rogers and Coldplay’s Chris Martin, who he collaborated with. They reflect on the toll touring took on the world-famous DJ, who shot to fame when he was a teenager and performed more than 800 shows in six years – sometimes playing in two cities in one night.
Avicii‘s family issued a heartfelt statement after his passing that said, “Tim was a seeker, a fragile artistic soul searching for answers to existential questions.” He worked quickly and meticulously, which caused great tension. He had a great deal of difficulty thinking about happiness, life, and purpose. Tim desired to be at peace. He was not cut out for the corporate world; although he loved his fans, he avoided the limelight. Tim, you are loved and missed forever.
The documentary has rekindled conversations around mental health in the music business, highlighting how critical it is to provide artists with greater assistance. In addition to expressing their sorrow and solidarity, fans and fellow musicians have called for reforms to stop tragedies like this from happening again.
Beyond just his music, Avicii has left a lasting legacy that is a strong call to action for society and the music industry to put the welfare of people who inspire us first. Despite being tragic, the documentary pays homage to his remarkable talent and long-lasting influence on the music industry.

The National Music Publisher’s Association (NMPA) held its yearly gathering at Alice Tully Hall in Lincoln Center, New York. The New York event honored songwriters including Lana Del Rey, featured a fireside chat with WMG CEO Robert Kyncl, and the reveal of the U.S. music publishing revenue in the last year — $6.2 billion — but what got the most attention was the raised concerns about Spotify‘s bundling strategy.
NMPA President & CEO, David Israelite, outlined a complaint the organization sent to the FTC regarding Spotify’s bundling scheme, urging government intervention. It’s estimated that Spotify will pay $150 million less in music royalties this year because of its audiobook bundling.
The NMPA alleges that Spotify is misleading its customers by automatically switching its music subscribers to these bundled plans without their consent. They argue that Spotify is not providing an option for subscribers to switch back to a music-only subscription and is making it difficult to cancel through confusing website interfaces and dark patterns. The NMPA hopes the FTC will take action against Spotify’s bundling, pointing out that its Audiobook Access Tier is exclusively available in the United States, which they see as an attempt to exploit U.S. royalty regulations established in the Phonorecords IV settlement.
Israelite criticized Spotify’s move to reclassify its music service as an audiobook bundle as a cynical and potentially illegal action, disrupting the peace agreed upon in 2022. The NMPA is considering all options and has filed a complaint with the FTC. Although an agreement was reached to modernize the treatment of bundled products or services containing music streaming, the NMPA accuses Spotify of violating the spirit of the agreement by offering Premium plans at a rate lower than the established headline rate for 2024.
Stay tuned for more news!

The second annual Regenerate Festival, produced by AEG Presents and 128 Productions, returned with a two day EDM extravaganza at Civic Center Park in downtown Denver. Held June 7-8, the 2024 edition delivered an unparalleled lineup featuring Electronic music’s finest, including everyone’s favorite accountant, John Summit, the legendary Eric Prydz, Purple Disco Machine, Disco Lines, Gorgon City, Ben Böhmer, and many more.
Established as Denver’s premier House and Techno-focused festival, Regenerate has blossomed into the Mile High City’s largest electronic music gathering. Boasting three distinct stages, the atmosphere of the lush park meshed perfectly with the backdrop of the Colorado State Capitol for a celebratory and electrifying experience. In addition to headlining acts, the festival showcased a diverse array of talent, including Agents of Time (my favorite set of the festival), Ayybo, Cassian, Eli & Fur, Kasablanca, Layton Giordani, Marsh, Miane, Nimino, Qrion, TDJ, Adam Stark, and Torren Foot.
At City Hall stage, the headlining acts were backlit with the spectacle of Denver’s Greek Revival City and County Building, which was purposely built to preserve the view of the front range mountains. A gorgeous sunset was the free light show; on stage, the acts were accompanied by pyro, smoke machines, lasers, and the occasional fireworks display. The bass was loud and the attendees at the upscale gala being held at the Art Museum across the street were probably less than thrilled with the rave going on next door, but them’s the breaks when the city decides to allow multipurpose use in the same district. To Denver’s credit, the restoration of Civic Center Park has been priority since COVID essentially turned it into a wasteland, so seeing life breathed back into the grounds does give you hope for the future of downtown.
The Greek Theatre is where I had the privilege of seeing Eric Prydz lay down IMHO one of the best sets of his career, full of deep cuts and IDs. Even when reduced to a secondary stage, the man takes you on a journey that makes you forget the time, place, and location and all that matters is that you’re dancing and it feels right. The crowd was respectful at this stage and the eerie environment of the crescent-shaped amphitheater at dusk-to-night transported you to another world.
The third stage was the Secret Garden, where just one week earlier I spent most of my time at the Outside Festival (shoutout to the Purina Incredible Dog Experience). At Regenerate, the grassy knoll was the intimate setting for Denver’s impressive class of local DJs — AMBA, Bodega Cats, IIVX, Josh Fedz, Lorely Mur, Pandorah, Paradime, RC3, SISS, Sonrizas, Sparkle, and Wessyde — who keep the scene going even when the headliners fly over us on their way to Los Angeles.
Because it’s Colorado, temperatures were hot in the sun, yet cool in the shade, with relief at night and an ever-present threat of unpredictable storms. There was a brief sprinkle of rain on Day 1 and the wind was intense for a period on Day 2, but overall the weather held up and you couldn’t ask for much more. As with all festivals, lines for the bar and food trucks were long but cleared out as the big names took to their individual stages. Alcoholic drinks were up to $17 but my $8 mocktail was more than enough to keep me hydrated through the day. Ending at 10 PM due to the public park’s curfew, the night was young for attendees as they headed off on Lime scooters and ride shares to continue the party.
Regenerate Festival solidified its place as a cornerstone of Denver’s vibrant Electronic music scene, leaving attendees hopeful for its return next year. Stay up-to-date at regeneratedenver.com.

Nathan's loss is Zeds Dead's gain after their record label, Deadbeats, invited competitive eating legend Joey Chestnut to relish a new challenge.
Chestnut won't compete in this year's Nathan's Famous International Hot Dog Eating Contest after its organizers, Major League Eating, banned him for working with a rival brand, Impossible Foods. Chestnut, who is prevalently considered the greatest professional eater in history, has won the famed Fourth of July competition every year since 2016.
Chestnut holds an astounding 56 records, including scarfing down 76 Nathan's Famous Hot Dogs and Buns in just 10 minutes on July 4th, 2021. That record, however, won't soon be broken by "Jaws."
"I love competing in that event, I love celebrating America with my fans all over this great country on the 4th and I have been training to defend my title," Chestnut said in a statement. "To set the record straight, I do not have a contract with MLE or Nathan's and they are looking to change the rules from past years as it relates to other partners I can work with. This is apparently the basis on which I’m being banned, and it doesn’t impact the July 4th contest. Sadly, this is the decision Nathan's and Major League Eating are making and it will deprive the great fans of the holiday’s usual joy and entertainment."

Deadbeats has now extended an invitation to join the label's hot dog-eating contest at the 2024 edition of their "Backyard Jamboree" festival experience, which is scheduled for July 4th in Denver. The beloved dubstep label annually organizes the competition as part of the event's festivities at Civic Center Park.
"You are cordially invited to gobble any and as many glizzies you want at the Deadbeats Backyard Jamboree on July 4th in Denver where we host the biggest hot dog eating competition west of the Mississippi," the label wrote on X.
The chances of Chestnut joining Deadbeats' contest are unfortunately dubious considering his high demand and lofty appearance fee. He was paid $200,000 to appear in the 2023 Nathan's contest and was offered a four-year, $1.2 million contract going forward, the New York Post reported.
Your odds are much better. The team at EDM.com recently joined forces with Deadbeats and Zeds Dead to launch a special giveaway for a spot in their hot dog-eating competition, which you can enter here.

Oh, how we’d missed you, Mr Bluestone!
Fans of Trance, spice, and everything nice (hope you get that reference): regroup once more today for a hot new tune! We’ve heard the news that our favourite Progressive Trance veteran ilan Bluestone is back in Dance Town, and he’s doing so in style — not that we expected anything less anyway.
Like most, ilan’s journey in Electronic music began with a spark of passion at a young age. Unlike most, he got to the top of the Trance world, and he’s been up there for a good chunk of years, showing no signs of coming back down. Over 10 years ago, landing a spot on the esteemed Anjunabeats label became a pivotal moment for him. Once a stone, quickly rose to a gem in the span of just a few years. He directed a few compilations on the label, played alongside Above & Beyond on their ABGT milestone gigs, and released uncountable singles and not one, two artist albums.
Past that era and following his initial focus on Trance, ilan Bluestone has continuously demonstrated artistic evolution. He’s dared incorporate elements of Progressive House and other genres such as Techno into his productions, and has worked with — and remixed — some of the greatest artists out there. A few examples are Paul van Dyk, Giuseppe Ottaviani, Chicane, Ferry Corsten, Above & Beyond, and BT.
ilan Bluestone playing at Tomorrowland Belgium 2022. ‘Echoes of Courage’
After a period of spellbinding remixes, collaborations, and even releases under the Elysian moniker — alongside Maor Levi and Emma Hewitt —, ilan is now lifting the veil on his first solo track in over a year, ‘Echoes of Courage‘. Premiered by Armin van Buuren at A State of Trance 2024 in Rotterdam and included on the ‘A State of Trance 2024’ mix album, this track also serves as Bluestone’s original track debut on the legendary Armind label.
If there’s something one could point out straight away from ilan’s more recent sound is the fact that he’s been using warm, analogue saws in quite the old-fashioned fashion. It’s a nice, sober, elegant touch to an already top-notch sound. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a sucker for his older Anjuna stuff as it is the one repertoire that got me into Trance in the first place, but I love this little piece of ear candy that hints at yesteryear’s Trance trends.
And regarding the rest of the track — since I dove so deep into just one sound —, this one is the true embodiment of a Progressive Trance tune. It’s got Trance written all over it, with arpeggios, leads, the saws previously mentioned, and floaty textures, but it has just as much power and bite during the drops, which carry all the energy that is synonym to the ilan Bluestone sound that has become a trailblazer for many.

The latest from a living legend of the genre is out today for the world to enjoy.
Ferry Corsten is a name synonymous with Trance music. Having established himself over two decades ago, his influence on the genre, as well as the entirety of the Dance spectrum, is undeniable. From the iconic System F hit ‘Out Of The Blue’ to the moving melody of Gouryella’s ‘Anahera’, Corsten’s hand has been there for a lot longer than one could say about the vast majority of artists rocking the charts today.
With nine studio albums under his belt, Ferry has taken his sweet, sweet time slowly lifting the veil on the contents of his tenth long play, Connect. For close to a year now, we’ve been able to enjoy, one track at a time, a very welcome return to the roots of Trance, a genre that Corsten himself helped define. Imagine the uplifting melodies and driving rhythms of the golden era, meticulously crafted with the production techniques of today. This fusion of past and present is the intention of this album.
Ferry a few months ago at the ASOT 2024 weekend. Ferry himself added in our exclusive interview with him a couple of months ago, “The album has the bonus of pleasing older fans who have been longing for that old Ferry sound for a long time“. Check out the rest of our deep, introspective chat with him, right here.
‘Belong To You’
After tracks like ‘Yes Man’ and ‘Fulfillment’ alongside Progressive star Marsh, he’s teaming up with 22Bullets to unveil the seventh piece of the album, ‘Belong To You‘. A very fast-growing talent in the Dance scene, 22Bullets has had releases on labels such as Spinnin’ and Dharma, and even collaborated on a track released on the latter with none other than the owner of the label himself, KSHMR.
Featuring the vocals of Couché, the track seamlessly blends aspects of Trance, Deep House, and Progressive House, for an excellent finish. Gated pads, soft arpeggios, and even a playful spin on the classic ‘Insomnia’ pluck all make an appearance, and once again prove Ferry’s words back in December were 100% based on what he envisioned with this album. Sublime, as is the norm.
