The city’s iconic Ultra Music Festival just wrapped up its 24th edition after three massive days of electronic dance music performances at Bayfront Park in Downtown Miami. Despite facing some dicey weather early on, the sold-out festival went off without a hitch, welcoming 165,000 attendees from over 100 countries around the world.
The stacked lineup did not disappoint, delivering memorable moments across multiple stages. Calvin Harris made his first Ultra appearance since 2013, while Armin van Buuren shockingly brought out rock legend Jon Bon Jovi during his main stage set on Sunday. Veteran DJ Hardwell rescheduled his original Friday slot to put on a jaw-dropping show on Saturday evening.
Making her Ultra debut, Korean DJ Peggy Gou performed a highly anticipated set at the RESISTANCE Megastructure. Dubstep star Excision made festival history as the first artist to play that classic bass sound on Ultra’s main stage, bringing out Illenium as a surprise guest.
Ultra Music Festival drone show 2024 Several special back-to-back performances and collaborations were unveiled, including RL Grime and Knock2 joining ISOxo to premiere new music, Madeon b2b San Holo for the first time, and the debut of Kill the Noise and Bro Safari‘s new “Kill Safari” project.
Not to be outdone, the RESISTANCE underground concept took over Downtown Miami club M2 all weekend long with extended sets from techno heavyweights like Eric Prydz, Amelie Lens, Reinier Zonneveld’s Filth on Acid takeover and more.
As has become tradition, Ultra broadcasts much of the festival globally via its #ULTRALIVE stream, reaching over 34 million viewers. The stream featured performances from across the grounds as well as exclusive interviews and other curated content.
While the music took center stage, Ultra also highlighted its environmental sustainability initiatives through the Mission: Home program. This award-winning eco-friendly effort included over 50 practices focused on areas like pollution prevention, nature preservation and waste reduction.
As the 24th edition comes to a close, fans can already look ahead as Ultra announced dates for its 25th anniversary in 2025 from March 28-30, with tickets currently on sale. If this year was any indication, next year’s silver celebration will surely be one for the books.

In this exclusive interview, DJ Dris dives into the behind-the-scenes of his latest release, ‘Work,’ featuring Natalie Graham. The track, a soulful fusion of House and Afro music, showcases DJ Dris‘s signature sound while highlighting Graham‘s enchanting vocals and creative lyricism. During our talk, DJ Dris shares insights into his collaboration with Natalie Graham, discussing the friendship and mutual respect that led to their partnership, while giving a glimpse into his creative process, detailing how the track’s instrumental came together through experimentation and a bit of serendipity.
Let’s find out more about DJ Dris’ latest release ‘Work,’ and its story and production process.
Hi, DJ Dris! Congrats on the release of ‘Work’ with Natalie Graham! How have you been?
Thank you! And as usual, I’m doing great.
We would love to hear your concept and inspiration behind this track and title, ‘Work.’
To be honest my inspiration for the track was really just a soulful fusion of House and Afro music. The lyrics I left to Natalie Graham to be as creative as she wanted. She worked with her co-writer Adrian Roye on the lyrics and the quirky concept. Then the rest is history.
You’ve worked together with Natalie Graham before, how did the collaboration with her came to be this time around?
This collab was a right moment/right time thing and the friendship we have crafted since the last release we did together “Kiss and Tell.” I have always sent her songs here and there and she has honestly been an avid supporter and friend, so when she heard the instrumental to “Work” she was on board straight away.
How would you describe ‘Work’ to a first time listener?
It’s a soulful Afro House song with enchanting lyrics that will leave you feeling sexy and in a good mood.
What about ‘Work’ would you say defines your signature Afro House sound?
Definitely the tom pattern, hi-hats and congas. That’s a running theme through my music.
What musical influences would you say may have played a part in shaping the sound of this release?
I will always say my favourite artist growing up was Nas due to his lyrical art. Donaeo on ‘Devil In A Blue Dress’ has also always been an inspiration to me. The genre of Funky House ultimately shapes my music as you hear it today and I think the lyricism side of it also shows in ‘Work’.
Could you share with us your creative process in structuring this track?
To be honest it was a beautiful accident. I literally create music most days, so this was one of those days. Trademark metronome kick then I played in a conga pattern. From there, I literally looked for a stab sound that complimented the 2. Once I had that, I looked to fill the void using other percussive sounds, i.e the rim shot and the toms. Followed this with the shakers then just needed pads that worked and that was the instrumental pretty much sorted with the use of a pluck here and there. I left the rest to Natalie and thought she did a great job when she sent through her stems.
What about this track is different from your previous releases?
This track is very soulful compared to my usual productions. I would say due to the lyrics the bounce and the feel, it ultimately comes across soulful.
Do you have plans to perform this track live with Natalie in the near future?
Definitely. It’s in the pipeline, I’ll be posting more about this on my socials soon so make sure you give me a follow : www.instagram.com/deejaydris
What more can we anticipate from DJ Dris? Got anymore collaborations in the works with Natalie or other vocalists?
Definitely, I have a lot of music coming out this year. I release a song every 2 weeks on all streaming platforms. I also have some collabs coming with emerging vocalists Roxa Damas, Olivia London and also Zack Goffe. So I’m super excited and honestly can’t wait to share our creations with everyone.
We wrap up this interview thanking DJ Dris for his time and for sharing more details about the process behind-the-scenes, his collaboration with Natalie Graham and some insight into his own production methods. While he teases some more music on the way, make sure to follow him on social media to remain updated on his new releases, projects and live shows.

In this exclusive interview, we sit down with Angel Parilli, a talented DJ, music Producer, and sound engineer, to get a glimpse into his life and passions beyond the studio. From his love for guitar and batting cages, to his unique approach to social situations, Angel shares candidly more details about his downtime activities and personal favorites. Join us as we explore the man behind the music, uncovering fun facts and insights that reveal the person beyond the artist persona.
Hi Angel, how are you doing?
I think I’m doing okay, haha. I was taking some time off from mixing at the studio. Resting my ears a bit.
What do you enjoy doing to relax?
It varies, but usually you’ll catch me playing guitar or hitting the batting cages. I also love watching movies and, of course, SLEEPING!
Got any fun facts about yourself you’d like to share?
Oh man! Here it goes:
Sometimes when I’m surrounded by people who don’t know me, I like to behave like I don’t speak english at all, only Spanish. Trust me, it’s very interesting what they talk about when they think they aren’t being listened to.
I learned English by translating a couple of albums of Guns N’ Roses + other ones from Snoop Dogg, hahaha. Yep, my accent and vocabulary were very interesting during that process.
When I moved to LA, I realized that “Happy Hour” was part of the culture here. I didn’t have enough cash to even afford a happy hour, really, but I wanted to meet new people and socialize. So, basically, I would ask for a glass of water, and just squeeze a couple of fruits from the options they had on the counter top, and add some of them without squeezing in my drink to make it look like a random cocktail haha. I got away with that many many times and I made many friends.
How would you describe your perfect weekend?
Having 2 gigs. I prefer Friday shows to be more chill. Then prior to the show, I’ll get a great dinner at a restaurant, Asian or Mediterranean, or see a movie.
Saturdays, I love a beach day, or play some outdoor sport with friends, maybe some Mimosas or Mezcal Margaritas after, take a nap, then off to a Saturday night gig.
Sunday, gym, then be lazy all day watching movies.
Do you have any fun pastimes?
I love watching paranormal TV shows or exploration TV shows. I also love watching interviews of people who have succeeded in life. I love reading or watching about their stories and biographies.
Are you into sports? If so, which kind and do you follow any teams?
Oh man, I used to really love to watch sports. I played baseball a lot when I was younger, but life kind of got too busy at some point that I just gave up most of it. I only get extremely fanatic about the soccer or baseball world cups, when they happen.
Do you have any pets?
Not currently, but I used to. Back in Venezuela, we had a big house. My dad used to have a couple of big fields and warehouses where he would recycle aluminum, melt it, and make aluminum bars to sell internationally. A lot of people tried to get into these fields and steal the metal to then come back the next day and sell it back to you haha, our planet . In order to protect these fields/warehouses full of aluminum, my dad had to guard them not only with security but also with dogs, Dobermans and Rottweilers. When one of these dogs had puppies, my dad would bring them home because the adult dogs were trained to be so aggressive that they sometimes would hurt the puppies. So, there was a time in my childhood where there were 6 Dobermans and 7 Rottweilers between the front and backyard of the house . So, yeah, I’m a little hesitant to have pets now, since I had to clean up their poop and wash them all in order to get money to go to the movies with my friends .
What’s your favorite movie? What do you like about it?
I have a couple of favorite movies: War Dogs, John Wick, The Shawshank Redemption, Dark Knight. But there is one movie, specifically, that I watched years after it was released that changed my point of view about movies, life, and musically. I liked it so much that I did an original cover of its soundtrack, INTERSTELLAR. It might sound very weird, but Interstellar is a movie that matched my way of thinking about the universe and many other things. It also raised more questions I never thought of about me, us, and the universe, and that’s very exciting to me. When I made my own cover of the Interstellar soundtrack, I had to add a lot of trippy, dreamy, creepy sounds to the song. I was trying to express and match all these thoughts I had prior and after watching that movie. I remember I showed it to my dad who never watched the movie, and I asked him “what does it make you think of or feel?”, he said, “makes me feel like I’m either out exploring space, the universe, with no time and space barriers, or I’m out exploring the ocean with no dangers.” Pow!!! Nailed it! Hahaha. I hope you guys like my track; it’s available now on Beatport and all the platforms.
What are some of your top destinations to go for vacation?
Aruba & Croatia. I like many other places, but those 2 are the ones that as of today mean a lot to me.
If you had 1 million dollars, what would you spend it on and why?
I would find something exciting to invest in. I’m a bit of a nerd when it comes to numbers and I love business. So, I would find a way to make that money work for me, without really having to ever take it out of the bank, but use it as leverage.
If you had to pick 3 people to bring to a deserted island, who would that be and why?
I would say my mom, but she will complain about the lack of amenities, hahaha. Well, if we are talking about survival while we get rescued, I would prefer to have my brother there with me. He’s very resourceful and finds solutions, like I do, which is helpful in a place like a deserted island. My friend Carlos, we call him Carlitos, always goes on explorations and does a bit of camping and living off the land and fishing, he’ll be a good candidate. I don’t think I would bring a 3rd person because then we will have to share whatever food we can fish with an extra person.
As our interview with Angel Parilli comes to a close, we thank him for his time and for sharing more details about his life aside from music, that helped us gained a deeper understanding of the man behind the music. His passion for creativity and exploration extends far beyond the studio, shaping his unique perspective on life and art, and as he continues to inspire with his music and adventures, we look forward to seeing where his journey takes him next.

We are tremendously grateful for our supporters who helped fund both the original Blipblox and Blipblox After Dark, and we look forward to introducing more friends to the Blipblox community with the launch of myTRACKS,” says Kate.

The pain of missing a rare set is a lot easier to manage thanks to Boiler Room.
Earlier in the year, the legendary Skream and Flowdan took the stage at the brand's massive Liverpool outing for a show to remember. Now, their complete set has been shared for all to enjoy.
In the recording you can hear Skream and Flowdan, who have been friends since they were teenagers, throw down iconic tracks from their storied careers as well as new releases from some of the most exciting young artists in bass music.
As one would expect from this duo, the selections were on-point, so much so that only minutes in, Flowdan had to politely ask Skream to reload only once per four songs. Skream, of course, hilariously responded with a reload just seconds later before taking to X to acknowledge his antics.
Skream has been on a tear with many recent high-profile show announcements. Later this year he'll go open-to-close for four nights in Denver with his longtime friends and fellow electronic music trailblazers Benga and SGT Pokes. He'll also join Benga on stage at Coachella and Lollapalooza this festival season.
Flowdan, on the other hand, closed out an industry-shaking 2023 with a Grammy win for "Rumble," his global hit collaboration with Fred again.. and Skrillex. He was also named on EDM.com's list of the year's best electronic music artists.
You can watch Skream and Flowdan's complete set from Boiler Room: Liverpool below.

Leave it to the madcap minds behind Dirtybird to think of yet another event to redefine the rave.
Last month, the beloved dance label curated a "farmer's market for ravers." Hidden deep in a secret location in downtown Los Angeles' Arts District, the event helped usher in 2024 after Dirtybird soared to new heights last year.
Dirtybird implemented a number of unique experiences at the rare "farmer's market," including a Michelada stand, vinyl shop and even a pop-up tattoo parlor, Label Manager Deron Delgado told EDM.com. It was truly a one-of-a-kind night, considering vendor hubs in the music scene are more often than not relegated to the backdrop of festivals.
While attendees made their rounds through the event, house music filled the area. Channeling the intimate feel of a DIY bloghouse rave, Ardalan, Mary Droppinz, Shiba San and more played DJ sets throughout the night.
Check out photos from Dirtybird's "farmer's market for ravers" below.

After taking a stand against streaming inequities for artists in today's streaming landscape, James Blake is taking his passion a step further after announcing the launch of Vault, a new platform to share unreleased music with fans via a subscription service.
Vault, Blake says, is a platform for artists to "make money directly from the music they make" by enabling them to cut out intermediaries and avoid contracts that often prevent them from releasing their music. It's also a workaround to record labels who take the lion's share of royalties of songs and social media platforms like TikTok, which he said "doesn't pay properly."
"About a week ago I went viral with a post about the effects of streaming and TikTok on artists' ability to support themselves," Blake said in a video he shared prior to the platform's launch. "I wanted to give you some figures. This is how much artists make out of streaming: Between $0.0003 and $0.0005 per stream depending on that platform. Which is one million plays equals $3,000. If you're signed to a label, then imagine that number's cut at least 50%. And after management cut, which is between 15 to 20%, and taxes and recording overheads, it's just not sustainable for an artist to focus just on their art."
Blake also hopes Vault will remove some of the red tape around releasing music and eliminate the need to develop TikTok campaigns to earn recognition. The goal is to redirect musicians' focus back onto their art rather than forcing them to relinquish their time and creativity in favor of exhaustive—and oftentimes fruitless—marketing.
"Most musicians are not extroverts who are social media and branding geniuses, least of all me. And I wanted to find a way for musicians to make money directly from the music they make, not least to be able to reinvest in the very expensive process of renting studios, hiring musicians, etc.," he continued. "I've spoken to a lot of artists who feel frustrated that so much great music goes unreleased because it doesn’t meet certain requirements or trends."
Check out Blake's announcement below and find out more about Vault here.
