This is a guest column written by Gordon Droitcour, a co-founder and executive producer at COUR, a multidisciplinary creative house. He also is the co-founder of Syne Research, a brand that celebrates the visual side of the listening experience through digital album artwork displays.
Late last year, the Excision and Immanent VJ team approached COUR to handle the creative and execution for five songs of Excision's newest tour, "Nexus," along with Ultra Music Festival in Miami.
Elevating the tracks "Bass to the Dome," "1 on 1," "Death Wish," "End of the World" and "Kern Happy Die," COUR sought to create five distinct worlds that would seamlessly merge with the music. Aware of Excision's reputation for creating electrifying performances, the team knew they had to deliver a spectacle that would not only enhance the music, but also leave the audiences wanting more.
The COUR team began work in December 2023, working with Excision and creative/video director Matt Medwid to develop the visuals for five tracks during the performance. Excision and the Immanent team were entirely responsible for the creative concept behind the Ultra Music Festival set and wanted the performance to be visually striking and appear as if the visuals were popping out of the screen towards the audience.
Alongside Matt, COUR drew inspiration from intense twists on nature, the pulsating beat of internet culture and the quirky realms of computer futurism to breathe life into the performance. We came up with unique concepts to accompany each of the five songs.
During "1 on 1," the team wanted to create a Tron- and Tetris-inspired architectural wonderland for Excision that would match the perspective of the stage and extend it. It was a pretty special moment. Lasers were dancing across a wireframe landscape, revealing intricate geometric shapes against the night sky. It was architecturally-led but felt like a fast, rhythm-based cube-crusher game.
Excision's Visuals for "1 on 1" at Ultra Music Festival 2024 (0:30) Matching the futuristic bass beats of "Bass to the Dome," Excision wanted to bring the performance to life with pulsating cubes of lasers rolling and crashing into the earth while unleashing a barrage of pyrotechnics, shockwaves and digital signals. During the track, the sides of the cube begin to fall away, revealing a futuristic bass speaker inside.
Excision's Visuals for "Bass to the Dome" at Ultra Music Festival 2024 (0:30) As the show progressed and the energy of the set increased, the team wanted to create an exciting moment for the audience that would match the energy of "Kern Happy Die." During the track, a laser is emitted from the center of an LED wall, and a reactor core is activated in the centre of the screen.
As the core began to fire up, a bright green backlight slowly began to fill the screen, illuminating a vast array of people standing on a multi-story scaffolding structure. As the song builds, the people on the scaffolding begin to convulse and move frantically.
Excision's Visuals for "Kern Happy Die" at Ultra Music Festival 2024 (0:30) Another concept the team developed was a futuristic computer interface that visualized a cybernetic overlord’s voice through a stunning 3D lattice structure during "End of the World." The computer interface was a thin glass with intricate HUD visuals displaying data.
As the song darkens, the overlord leaves the computer interface, breaking the frame and extruding towards the audience. This moment fully demonstrated Excision’s unparalleled creativity and technical prowess as artists at the top of their game.
Excision's Visuals for "End of the World" at Ultra Music Festival 2024 (0:30) Alongside Matt and Excision, COUR transformed the stage into a rocky, hieroglyphic-filled cave for "Death Wish." An ominous "X" emerged from the darkness, accompanied by bursts of fire, lasers and the chilling proclamation "Time to Grant Your Death Wish" splashed across large screens, which engulfed the audience in an unforgettable sensory experience.
Excision's Visuals for "Death Wish" at Ultra Music Festival 2024 (0:30) Though COUR specializes in video content, they pride themselves in being a multidisciplinary creative house handling things from creative direction to design to content. The Ultra Music Festival performance was a testament to Excision’s raw talent and creativity to deliver one of the most forward-thinking and innovative live music experiences.

You know, after covering the electronic music beat for over a decade at The Groove Cartel, you’d think I’d be numb to surprises by now. But artists like Anyma always find a way to keep things fresh and fascinating.
His debut album “Genesys” was a genuine jaw-dropper when it dropped last year. The way Matteo Milleri seamlessly wove those lush, dreamy soundscapes with cutting-edge visuals and thematic depth – felt like a true evolution for the genre. A new frontier of immersive, almost synaesthetic artistry.
So when whispers started circulating about a “Genesys Part II” in the works, you’d better believe my ears perked up. At first, I’ll admit, part of me worried it might be a hastily thrown-together attempt to milk the momentum from the original’s success. Boy, was I wrong?
Leave it to the mastermind behind Anyma to conceive something sleek and subversive. Rather than slapping together a few bonus tracks, Milleri is going the ambitious remix album route for Part II. An inspired move, if you ask me. Even better is that he will include some brand-new songs. You can expect the long-awaited Now Or Never as well as a collaboration with PARISI.
The Genesys Part II is a hybrid album with new songs, already released ones, and new remixes. The full tracklist of Anyma Genesys Part II album includes:
Sacrifice with PARISI Now Or Never The Light Simulation with Chris Avantgarde Pictures Of You Higher Power with Argy, Magnus F.T.L. Hear Me Now with Rebuke, Karin Park Exodus with Adam Sellouk After Love feat. Delilah Montagu
Eternity (Massano Remix) Pictures Of You (Cassian Remix) The Sign (Kevin de Vries Remix) Welcome to the Opera (Adriatique Remix) Syren (Adam Sellouk Remix) Consciousness (Eric Prydz Remix) Save Me (Kolsch Remix) Syren (Amelie Lens Remix) Welcome to the Opera (Kobosil 44 Symbiont Mix) Explore Your Future (Daniel Avery Remix) Think about it – “Genesys” was such a meticulously crafted audio-visual experience. Allowing fresh production talents to dissect and rebuild those lush atmospheres opens up endless new realms to explore. It’s like witnessing the work strain through a kaleidoscope of aural alchemy.
We’ve already had whiffs of the wizardry in store, with tantalizing remixes like Massano’s techno-big room take on the haunting album opener “Eternity.” Judging by the snippets making the rounds, this isn’t just going to be a run-of-the-mill remix package either.
No, Milleri seems dead-set on curating an entirely new headtrip for fans. An alternative dreamscape where the “Genesys” mythologies get bent, spliced, and recontextualized through a lens of fresh perspectives. I’m ready to plunge into those depths.
The masterminds dropped a key detail too during Anyma’s recent Buenos Aires gig: “Genesys Part II” is locked in for March 29th, hot on the heels of the Afterlife label’s Miami Music Week festivities. Savvy timing to catch that post-festival momentum.
As a veteran spectator of too many remix album cycles to count, let me say – this rollout has me genuinely hyped like it’s year one on the job again. Anyma’s penchant for transcendent, boundary-demolishing art makes this an essential experience for any discerning electronic explorer.
Part two of an already deeply immersive journey? Updates from the live show trail? You know I’ll be downing triple espressos to stay wired for every new Anyma transmission over the next few weeks. This is shaping up to be one for the books.

Reinier Zonneveld Debuts His AI Live Music Project At Brand New R² Festival
The World’s first Live AI back2back set between Human and Computer
R² Festival will take place at the legendary Spaarnwoude site and will feature stage hostings by Kompass, Amnesia Pyramid, De Marktkantine, STOOR, The Beginning, Filth On Acid, and Unreal, and will see the debut of Reinier Zonneveld’s R² AI live music project
In a dimly-lit studio tucked away in the Dutch capital, the familiar thump of a kickdrum reverberates, joined by an atmospheric swell of synthesized textures. But something is different this time. The sounds aren’t being crafted by human hands, but rather an artificial intelligence that has spent years studying the creative mind of one of techno’s premier live artists – Reinier Zonneveld.
As I watch Zonneveld nod his head to the improvised groove laid down by the AI system he has developed, dubbed R² (R-Squared), it’s clear we are glimpsing the future.
Indeed, the potentials of AI integration in live electronic music performance will soon be put to the ultimate test. On August 17th, Zonneveld will make history as the first artist to bring an AI co-performer on stage at his very own Zonneveld R² Festival in the picturesque grounds of Spaarnwoude, just outside Amsterdam.
In front of a global audience of techno fans, Zonneveld will link up and go back-to-back for the first time ever with R² – an AI project he has spent over two years developing alongside technologists and musicians. Trained on a staggering 2000+ hours of Zonneveld’s original tracks, live recordings, studio sessions, and more, R² has effectively learned to mimic and build upon the acclaimed artist’s free-flowing, hypnotic style.
The answer, it seems, lies in R²’s unique design. Instead of merely generating ambient backgrounds or basic rhythmic phrases, the AI is capable of constructing full, evolving song ideas based on the musical patterns, tones, and genres it has studied from Zonneveld’s catalog. Using deep learning networks, it can dynamically adapt these compositions in real-time based on parameters like crowd energy levels or changes instigated by Zonneveld himself on his control rig.
For the festival’s historic centerpiece performance, Zonneveld and his AI counterpart will engage in an improvised musical call-and-response – complementing each other’s outputs and pushing the sound into uncharted territories.
While the R² integration is unquestionably the main draw, the festival setting itself also promises to be a sui generis experience, paying tribute to the diverse influences and scenes that have shaped Zonneveld’s career over the past 15 years. Seven additional stages will each be hosted by a renowned music institution, label, or collective – from illicit rave pioneers to the famed De Marktkantine club and Speedy J’s avant-garde STOOR show.
As anticipation builds in techno circles worldwide, it’s clear this is not just a regular music festival. It’s the potential birth of a new era – one where human and artificial intelligence might finally converge to craft an entirely new artform before our eyes and ears. The possibilities, as Zonneveld said, are endless.
“I don’t think there’s any going back after this,” he tells. A warm smile creeps across his face as a new swell of improvised melodies emanate from the R² AI system. “For better or worse, we’re opening a door that’ll never be closed again.”

After returning to Ultra Music Festival for the first time in over a decade, Calvin Harris has shared his full Sunday closing performance.
Anyone who's seen the hit-maker headline a festival knows that beneath his shimmering synths and catchy hooks lies a deeper emotional resonance. That came out in droves at Ultra, where his crescendoing finale tied a bow on a weekend of carefree abandon in Miami.
In a festival flush with surreal moments, Harris' spectacular Mainstage performance was an undeniable highlight. His first Ultra set in 11 years was a masterclass in crowd-control, turning fans into puddles at times with classics like "Feel So Close" and inspiring techno-fueled purges at others, like when he closed with Hardwell's soaring remix of "Miracle."

A new report, which arose from research by the Musicians' Union and the charitable organization Help Musicians, shines a light on the plight of women working in the music industry in 2024.

Over 2,500 female musicians were surveyed in the "Women Musicians Insight Report," which suggests that work-related abuse and financial disparities significantly impede the career advancement of women in the music industry. The study found that half of women have experienced gender discrimination and a third have been sexually harassed.
Another finding in the study correlated women's age and visibility in the music scene. While 47% of musicians ages 16-55 were women, they comprised only 26% of those over the age of 55. Age discrimination was found to occur much more commonly in female musicians versus males.
"The findings of the latest Census report show there’s still so much work to be done to make sure that working as a musician is equitable for all," said Sarah Woods, the Chief Executive of Help Musicians and Music Minds Matter. "We hope these insights will encourage the industry to continue collaborating to reduce gender-based barriers and ensure gender equity in every part of music."
“It’s alarming to witness the persistence of gender disparities highlighted by the UK Musicians’ Census, where discrimination, harassment and unequal pay remain prevalent issues faced by women musicians, demanding urgent action," added Nadia Khan, founder of the nonprofit Women In CTRL. "This pivotal moment presents a unique opportunity for change ahead of the next musicians’ census. It’s vital that the industry makes genuine commitments and takes decisive actions to prevent the recurrence of the same data."

Vampire Weekend dropped “Mary Boone,” the last pre-release track from Only God Was Above Us, set to launch on April 5th under Columbia Records. Crafted by Ezra Koenig, it includes a snippet of the renowned drum loop from Soul II Soul’s “Back to Life (However Do You Want Me).”
Produced by Ariel Rechtshaid and Koenig, with rich orchestral arrangements by Will Canzoneri, Koenig, and Rechtshaid, the track—titled after a prominent NYC art figure from the ’80s—showcases an expansive operatic choir complementing Koenig’s subtly sweet vocals. The lyrics touch on Tadao Ando churches, Natarajas, hex signs, and whirling Dervishes, crafting a diverse sonic and lyrical landscape as the narrator seeks entry into the realm of New York’s art scene (or maybe something greater):
Freshly painted in white, new to the area, you weren’t hiring, but I was seeking job opportunities.
“Mary Boone” is accompanied by an official visualizer which features a rapper who’s never released an album, Despot, driving from New Jersey to Manhattan via the Lincoln Tunnel. Watch it here.
To date, Ezra Koenig, Chris Tomson and Chris Baio have released four songs from Only God Was Above Us: “Gen-X Cops,” “Capricorn,” “Classical” and now “Mary Boone”—evincing a diverse array of sounds and narratives, yet only revealing less than half of the album’s staggering range and depth. Only God Was Above Us will be available across digital platforms as well as on vinyl and CD. Pre-orders can be placed at https://vampireweekend.store/
In addition to Mary Boone’s news, Vampire Weekend has revealed a nine-date live show series starting at Dublin’s 3Arena on November 29th. The tour will span the U.K., including stops in Scotland, Manchester, and two London performances, before concluding with shows in Paris and Amsterdam.

The 2024 edition of Ultra Music Festival in Miami was truly one to remember. As a matter of fact, this year’s iteration had not only unreal performances – as per usual – but an atmosphere like none other thanks to the cancellation of the end of Day 1 due to severe weather. For those of you who didn’t know, Ultra had to close its gates early on Friday because of the heavy rain and winds that surged the Bayfront Park area. Moreover, Day 2 was delayed by a few hours in order to clean up the mess that mother nature left.
However, when fans regained access to the site, the energy was higher than ever, and Ultra 2024’s comeback story began. The festival’s crew was able to accommodate most of the missed sets on Saturday and Sunday. Hardwell and Amelie Lens, some of the most anticipated sets from Friday, performed on Saturday. The festival extended its curfew, and the artists scheduled for Saturday amended their set times to make everyone happy. Overall, the management handled the situation commendably and fans experienced an unforgettable Ultra Miami 2024.
A few days have pasted since the event, and Ultra has released its traditional ‘Thank You’ video.
To see these amazing images despite the setbacks is truly amazing. Here is what Ultra Music Festival had to say on the events that transpired:
Tickets for Ultra 2025 in Miami are officially on sale now. Please visit the official website for more information.

Reinier Zonneveld will debut his AI live music project at his upcoming R² festival at Spaarnwoude on August 17th. He will be the first to integrate his specially-crafted AI model, R², into a live electronic music set, promising an unforgettable experience.
Zonneveld’s AI Model
Over the past few years, Zonneveld has fine-tuned R², a cutting-edge AI model that transcends conventional boundaries in music production and performance. The groundbreaking R² AI was trained on over 2,000 hours of Reinier Zonneveld’s original music and recordings from more than 1,000 live shows spanning the artist’s illustrious 15-year career. With a specific focus on capturing Zonneveld’s celebrated improvisational style, R² is a unique and innovative partner in live music performance, setting new standards by seamlessly composing real-time tracks based on Zonneveld’s extensive repertoire.
Zonneveld’s R² Festival
The festival will include seven other stages in addition to the R² mainstage. The Beginning will be featured to pay homage to the illegal rave movement that gave birth to Reinier Zonneveld’s career, while De Marktkantine, the extinct nightlife institution from Amsterdam, is set to revive the energy felt during the many infamous Reinier Zonneveld all-nighters. STOOR, the pure improvisation audio-visual experience created by techno icon Speedy J, where image and sound become a symbiosis of unbridled electronics, will see Karl Klomp directing the stage design, lighting, and a team of video artists. The Unreal concept, straight from Bootshaus in Cologne, will bring a darker and heavier rave sound to those who want to enjoy harder techno at R², while the Amnesia’s Pyramid concept, where Zonneveld had his first-ever Ibiza residency in 2023, brings the Ibiza vibe to Dutch grounds. Kompass Klub will make its way from Belgium to showcase its intense, passionate atmosphere, and Reinier’s own Filth On Acid imprint is set to showcase some of the label boss’ personal favorite artists.
About the R² debut, Zonneveld said: ‘I’ve always been excited about pushing boundaries and integrating technology in my performances. Last year, I broke the Guinness World Record for the longest live electronic music set at my own Karren Maar Festival. This year, With R², we’re taking that ethos to new heights.’
Attendees can expect an electrifying showcase of Reinier Zonneveld’s iconic sound, elevated to unparalleled heights by the innovative integration of R². This feat is a continuation of Reinier Zonneveld’s innovative approach to challenging himself to reach new milestones in his live sets. Last August, the artist set an entire new Guinness World Record at his own Karren Maar Festival for the longest live electronic music set with original music only.
Tickets for R² Festival
Tickets for the festival are now on sale, providing attendees with the opportunity to experience the premiere of Reinier Zonneveld’s R², alongside an impressive lineup featuring top acts from the techno scene and beyond. Still buzzing from his viral hit “Bel Mercy,” which was released in late 2022 via Parlophone Records’ FFFR imprint, Jengi is back with his first single of the year, delivering a sublime dance cut with "Da Feeling."
Jengi’s first single in six months, the intoxicating track finds him curating an instant dance classic, fully equipped with groovy basslines and irresistible keys. Expertly calling back to 90s house music aesthetics, “Da Feeling” revives “The Feeling” by Sweet Tee and Tin Tin Out, the original project of founding GFDM member Darren Stokes, which in turn sampled vocals from Sweet Tee’s 1998 single “I Got Da Feelin’.”
The rising star is poised for a big 2024 after his explosive performance at Tomorrowland Winter, and he's gearing up for sets at prestigious venues such as Amsterdam’s Melkweg and London’s Ministry of Sound.
"Even though I was too young to experience the late 80s/90s, I am fascinated by this house era and the groovy and melodic tracks that were created in that period of time," Jengi said. "With 'Da Feeling' I have tried to bring back a little flavor of that time with the vocals of old-school rapper Sweet Tee."

Contrary to local reports, a Tomorrowland festival has not been confirmed to take place in Thailand, Tomorrowland spokesperson Debby Wilmsen tells EDM.com.
Citing Thai government spokesman Chai Wacharonke, numerous media outlets have reported that the organizers of the iconic, Belgium-based EDM festival are developing an event in Bangkok in 2026. However, while Tomorrowland's proprietors are currently exploring an expansion, they are in the due diligence phase and have not yet confirmed a new festival.
"In December the Tomorrowland team had the privilege of engaging in discussions with various parties and exploring potential locations for a Tomorrowland festival in Thailand," Wilmsen tells EDM.com. "Deeply touched by the warm support, we must clarify the recent speculation: nothing has been officially confirmed or signed at this time. The Tomorowland team is diligently conducting thorough research and exploration to assess the feasibility of hosting Tomorrowland in Thailand. There is still much to be investigated."
Wacharonke also said Tomorrowland's inaugural festival in Thailand is the first of 10 consecutive editions, per The Japan Times. That claim is also unfounded at the time of this writing.
"We continue to work towards bringing the magic of Tomorrowland to new destinations, but for now, all focus on the 20th anniversary of Tomorrowland in Belgium," Wilmsen added.
400,000 people are expected at Tomorrowland's flagship festival in Belgium, which will take place in Boom across two weekends: July 19-21 and July 26-28, 2024.

On that fateful day of Ultra Music Festival 2024 we caught up with techno protege, Maddix, on the Ultra Yacht as he was preparing to take the stage for Armin van Buuren’s A State of Trance (ASOT) takeover at the Worldwide Stage. We talked techno, trance, his experiences playing in America, and what fans could expect from his Ultra set. Psst it’s actually down below for your viewing pleasure.
EDMTunes: Scott here with EDMTunes and I’m here with Maddix. We are at Day 1 of Ultra Music Festival 2024. How does it feel to be here playing on the ASOT Stage?
Maddix: Man, I’m so excited to be honest. This is one of the key festivals in the world every year and it’s a good stage to be at too. It’s a big festival so I’m gonna play some new music. What else, what else could you want? You know?
EDMTunes: I remember talking to you years ago, when you were trying to get over to the U.S and then, finally, I think you got a visa to come over with the Hardwell team. How does it feel that you expanded your horizons from the Revealed team to doing techno and a little bit of trance now with ASOT? How has your progression been going from one niche to another?
Maddix: Yeah I’ve been with Revealed, I think seven years almost. They’ve always been so supportive, like, amazing people. At one point, I was working in a studio and I realized that the big room sound, I just wasn’t really enjoying it that much anymore. I would rather go to a techno festival instead of a big room show I would play for example. So, in that moment I realized, like let’s try and do something else. I wasn’t sure what. So I just left behind all expectations from fans. Whenever I went to the studio completely blind started working and yeah, the new sound was kind-of boring at first and it was progressing with every song. At this point, I feel way more freedom. And luckily, the new sound was released during covid. So it was a bit of a tough period. I was making all this new music with a new style. No one was expecting anything like this, or like what is this guy doing? I could never play it live, never ever. And then the first show it went off. I was like, okay, here we go. Um, and then fast forward to three years and here we are at Ultra.
EDMTunes: So as a fan and a listener of dance music, when is it that you started to feel your shift or your interest changing, into more of the techno world?
Maddix: I think the last like one and a half year producing, the big room stuff – I just started slightly changing. And I’ve always enjoyed techno but you’re kinda locked in as an artist and I felt like I won’t even call myself a techno artist because there’s like way more deeper stuff. And it isn’t my goal to be a techno artist. I’m just doing manics like energetic trancy techno, whatever there is coming next. Yeah, it’s just it changed at the moment and we had to make a decision are we gonna keep on going with a big room or are we just like going strong and I think we made the right decision.
EDMTunes: How does it feel getting the attention of names? Like, John Summit, he plays their tracks all the time, opens with ‘Gasoline’ sometimes. How did you get connected with him?
Maddix: He actually sent me a DM about Gasoline. It was like, dude. I love this song! And I was like, “oh shit it’s John Summit, he’s huge!” So yeah. And he told me “like, can you send me some stamps so I can make an intro version?” I was like, “for sure”. It’s been really good for my USA Market, because as I said, I got my Visa, one year ago and finally, I’m starting to tour a little more now and put my club shows. So John Summit is such a big name here in the U.S, that he really helped get the spotlight on some of my music.
EDMTunes: Who are some artists you’d like to collaborate with that you haven’t?
Maddix: Good question. Um well John Summit obviously would be a cool first name I think of now. Also some techno names like, Amelie Lens and Deborah De Luca. I think it would be it will fit quite well with a cool crossover, uh, kind of song, but they are proper techno artists. I’m not sure if they would want to collaborate with a more commercial artist, right?
EDMTunes: Would you see yourself playing at a Resistance or an Awakenings or something like that?
Maddix: I would love to. My sets have extended in time, a lot, since my big room days, I used to play one hour. Now, in New York, I’m gonna play a three hour set. For me it’s really cool because it can finally include more music from other people and play longer tracks and get a more proper techno vibe and I just love to do it.
EDMTunes: So what can we expect from your set today?
Maddix: New music. I’m gonna play four new songs, like one collaboration with HI-LO, Oliver Heldens, and yeah, some new solo stuff. Some stuff I’ve never played before I just finished a few days ago. So I’m gonna try it out. That’s what I’ll try for right?
EDMTunes: What do you have to look forward to for the rest of 2024?
Maddix: Uh, my touring schedule is absolutely crazy. We’re going all around the world. USA, Asia and big festivals. I’m really looking forward to EDC Vegas. It will be my first time in Vegas, so it will be my biggest show and a lot a lot of amazing shows. New York is almost sold out and I always love like if it’s a smaller venue, can you mix like 750 cap? But if it’s like, intimate sold out, they will know all your tracks and you can really create something special like, viewer connection with the crowd. So yeah, it’s gonna be nice.
EDMTunes: To close out, tell me about your favorite venue that you’ve ever played or your favorite show you’ve ever played?
Maddix: I think Bootshaus in Germany. Sorry if I forget about that, I do so many shows now that’s difficult, but Bootshaus is special. I did actually my own event there with my label Extatic. I’m not sure if you guys have ever been to Germany, but yeah, I think the crowd is something special. They arrive, if the doors open at 10, they arrive at 10 and they only leave when the last DJ is done playing at 6am. Yeah. And they won’t grab a drink and stand on the side. No, they go straight in front row. Absolutely crazy. There’s not that many places where you see a night like this.
EDMTunes: Hopefully you’ll see that vibe today at the ASOT Stage. Can’t wait to see your set. Thanks for talking to me today.

Just weeks before his highly-anticipated debut album drops, Iranian-German producer Rosbeh has released a shimmering new single that encapsulates the ups and downs of his musical journey so far.
Titled “Music Taught Me Life,” the nearly 5-minute track is a lush, cosmic dreamscape propelled by a rolling bassline and glistening synth melodies. But the story behind the making of the song cuts deep.
Finding solace at the piano, as he has since his classically-trained childhood, the Ibiza-based artist poured his doubts and uncertainties into the creative process.
The artist: Rosbeh
That sobering yet hopeful realization is the driving message behind the new single and Rosbeh’s approach to his craft. With a sound that seamlessly blends electronic and organic elements, classic and contemporary styles, and influences from his Persian heritage, he has amassed over 30 million streams through independent releases like his 2017 EP “Journey In My Head.”
But this burgeoning success, as well as an award for his expert piano playing, has been hard-earned. Rosbeh is self-taught in music production and until recently handled all his own promotion and marketing, gradually building a dedicated fanbase on the merit of his artistry alone.
The album will debut on the Good Company label
Now signed to the Good Company label, Rosbeh’s debut album is due June 14th, with “Music Taught Me Life” acting as the transcendent third single. Reflecting on the sunkissed sonic landscapes, he hopes it “spreads a message about trusting yourself, following your happiness, and seeing life’s challenges as opportunities for growth.“
It’s delicate words of wisdom from an artist who has endured his own trials to create his life’s work. If “Music Taught Me Life” is any indication, that album will be well worth a listen.

Ah, it’s that time of year again when the sleepy town of Indio transforms into the hottest music destination on the planet. Yes, Coachella season is upon us!
As someone who has been attending the festival since the early days, I’ve got a hell of a lot of experience when it comes to surviving – and thriving – at this world-famous desert party.
If you’re one of the many folks making the pilgrimage to Indio in the coming weeks, listen up. I’m about to share some hard-earned wisdom to ensure you have an epic Coachella experience without any rookie mistakes.
You can thank me later over a cold one when the festival’s done.
The Dos:
DO practice serious sun safety. I can’t stress this enough – the desert sun is no joke, and you don’t want to spend your weekend at Coachella a lobster-red, peeling miserable mess. Slather on the high-SPF sunscreen (at least 30), throw on a wide-brimmed hat to keep that face shaded and don’t forget the lip balm with SPF. Keep reapplying that sunscreen like it’s your job, even when it’s cloudy. Trust me, you’ll regret it if you don’t.
DO hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. Dancing and vibing under the desert sun is a surefire way to get dehydrated fast. Bring an empty, reusable plastic water bottle and make use of the free water refill stations scattered around the grounds. Not drinking enough H2O is a one-way ticket to feeling dizzy, fatigued, and just plain crappy. No one wants that festival FOMO. Bonus tip: Those accordion fans people carry around are a lifesaver for cooling down.
DO gear up sensibly. Looking stylish is part of the Coachella experience, but you’ve got to balance fashion with function. Your footwear choice is critical – leave those flimsy sandals at home and opt for sneakers or shoes with thick, supportive soles. You’ll be racking up miles trekking between stages. A bandana to cover your face can help keep dust at bay, and moisture-wicking fabrics will be your best friend in the desert heat.
DO bring the right accessories. Earplugs are non-negotiable for me – they’ll let you still hear the music while protecting your precious hearing from the blasting speakers. A portable phone charger is also a clutch for keeping your devices juiced up for photo-taking, calling your lost friends, and more. Small bags, fanny packs, or backpacks are ideal for stashing essentials like sunscreen, wet wipes, hand sanitizer and gum or mints. You’re going to want to freshen up after raging all day.
The Chemical Brothers Coachella 2023 BY Gina Joy Chong The Don’ts:
DON’T try to sneak anything prohibited inside. The security team knows all the tricks, and they’ve seen it all before. You’ll just slow down the entry lines and risk not getting in at all if you try to bring in anything on the festival’s banned list. That includes drugs, weapons, aerosol cans, spray sunscreen, large professional cameras, and more. When in doubt, leave it out.
DON’T overpack your bag. Sure, you’ll need some essentials, but lugging around a ton of excessive gear is just going to make you miserable. Things like coolers, umbrellas, blankets, lawn chairs, and other bulky items are banned for good reason. You’ll thank me later when you’re not stuck hauling around a ton of extra weight in the desert heat.
DON’T be unprepared for the conditions. I’ve seen so many Coachella first-timers underestimate just how grueling the desert setting can be. Have a plan for beating traffic getting in and out, designated meetup spots for your crew, storing belongings, dealing with crowds, and taking breaks from the heat as needed. A little preparation goes a long way towards making the weekend stress-free.
At the end of the day, Coachella is what you make of it. But doing your homework, following the rules, and coming prepared will ensure you have an insanely fun time. We locals love hosting the festival, so we want everyone to have a blast. Now get out there, stay hydrated, and get ready to dance your heart out to some amazing music!
Coachella’s tickets and the full lineup are available now.
