The techno scene is buzzing with excitement over the latest masterpiece, ‘Time’, a collaboration that sees Reinier Zonneveld and Kiki Solvej venturing into uncharted waters. Released under the renowned label Filth on Acid, ‘Time’ marks a significant departure from the duo’s usual pounding techno anthems. This track is a captivating journey into the realms of progressive beats mingled with trance-like melodies, setting a new benchmark for what we might expect from these trailblazing artists in the future.
A Symphony of Serenity and Depth
Firstly, stepping away from the intense energy characteristic of their previous works, Zonneveld and Solvej explore a softer, more introspective side in ‘Time’. What makes this track particularly mesmerizing is Kiki Solvej’s ethereal vocals. They weave seamlessly into the fabric of the music, creating an enchanting layer that elevates the hypnotic atmosphere to new heights. This delicate vocal touch invites listeners to step into a serene soundscape, drifting along with each beat.
Lose Yourself to the Rhythm
The irresistible rhythm of ‘Time’ doesn’t just beckon; it envelops you in its dreamy ambiance, urging you to let go of reality and surrender to the flow of the music. It’s a song that doesn’t just play; it transports, making listeners feel as though they are floating through the very essence of time itself. With its compelling blend of soft yet powerful beats and a dream-like quality, ‘Time’ is not just heard; it’s experienced.
Lastly, this track is a testament to the evolving nature of electronic music and the endless possibilities when artists step out of their comfort zones. ‘Time’ by Reinier Zonneveld and Kiki Solvej isn’t just a song; it’s a portal to another dimension where time slows down and music reigns supreme. Mirage season is back in NYC and the venue has kicked off the season with acts like the legendary Swedish House Mafia and most recently progressive house producer Audien with support from Ship Wrek, Frank Walker, Öwnboss, Third Party and more. What was originally a Sunday daytime show, was rescheduled to a prime time Saturday night show — and the shift in energy that followed it was evident in the music tone shift. There were some surprisingly heavy drops and song choices now that the event took place late night as opposed to during the day. Personally I was all for it as it showed the versatility of the artists there and they were able to read the crowd and play to their needs. It was a great blend of nostalgic progressive house but with a twist, a perfect example of how music is ever evolving, but always referencing the past. In that sense, progressive house truly never died.
The set up of The Mirage for this show was a 360 degree stage which was interesting to see as I have not been to a show like this since GRiZ a few years back. While it was cool to witness, I do think it would have been much more of a vibe for the original Sunday daytime show. At night, I noticed people couldn’t help but turn towards the giant 150 ft LED screen like moths to a flame — and thus making the DJ in the 360 set up much less impactful. It was however, still amazing to be able to see the DJs work in a variety of angles. It was a great show regardless and the cooler weather did nothing to stop the crowd from enjoying an amazing show.

As the saying goes, “it’s not goodbye, it’s see you later”, and it’s no different with Miami’s legendary Club Space. We told you about plans for the historic venue to undergo some renovations over the Summer, but now we have the details on the Space Closing Parties. Did you really think Space would go out (for the Summer) without a bang?! Of course not. The details are here, but the tickets are already flying off the digital shelves, so act fast!
Memorial Day Weekend
MDW is Weekend 1 of the Space Closing Party extravaganza, and it’s a doozy. On Friday night it’s house time with Loco Dice, Dennis Cruz, Silvie Loto, and Ms. Mada (tickets here). Saturday night will be hosted by none other than Vintage Culture along with Doozie, Malone, and Thunderpony (tickets here). Since it’s a holiday weekend things get REALLY crazy on Sunday. Sunday night will kick off with Fisher, Mita Gami, Ky William, and Deyelino, but it doesn’t stop there. At 10am on Memorial Day Monday, the one and only Solomun will take the decks and close out the weekend with one of his marathon sets. Expect the maestro to play until sometime on Tuesday morning (or maybe even afternoon). The tickets for this one are red hot already so don’t sleep on em.
Closing Weekend
The final weekend until ??? will kick off on Friday May 31 with a barnstormer of a lineup. You get Honey Dijon, Floorplan, Bakke, Sinopoli, Thunderpony, Malone, Jonny From Space, Sister System, and True Vine (tickets). On Saturday the terrace will host Victor Calderone, Oscar G, and Ms. Mada b2b Layla Benitez. Because sometimes the best things in life are determined by pure randomness, NITTI and Myles O'Neal have joined forces for a rare event in Los Angeles.
The unlikely duo—one a Grammy-nominated producer and the other a rising star in dance music—will celebrate their birthday tonight at LA's famed Academy club, where they'll each perform special DJ sets on a 360° stage. Tickets are on sale now, but before then O'Neal is celebrating early by dropping a new track, "All I Need."
With hypnotic soundscapes and a chugging bassline, "All I Need" brims with the underground grit of house music. Its pulsing bassline anchors a soulful vocal refrain echoing primal human longings ("you are all I need"), delivering a dancefloor mantra for those fleeting, sweat-soaked moments when burdens dissolve and nothing else seems to matter.
O'Neal is currently gearing up to make his debut at the iconic EDC Las Vegas festival, where he'll perform two sets over the course of this weekend. Released independently, his new single was created for a "popular video game" in partnership with D.AWN and 404, according to a press release. It's the sole featured song on a unique, playable map within the game.
"This collaboration is a full-circle moment for me because so many of us grew up playing video games," said O'Neal. "It's an honor to have my music featured in such a setting, and it's something I can look back on for the rest of my life and feel so proud of."
You can listen to "All I Need" below and find the new single on streaming platforms here.

Our favourite trio will take the wheel on this week’s episode, to celebrate a huge milestone on their brother imprint.
The bond between Above & Beyond and Anjunadeep goes a long way into the past, for those who are not aware. Initially born as a place to showcase the music they thought unfitting for the early days of Anjunabeats, the label has grown to become one of the leading houses of the deeper sounds of Electronic music. The bond is even stronger as we notice one of its heads, James Grant, has been managing the Above & Beyond brand from the very start.
Anjunadeep has famously launched an endless list of artists to the stratosphere ever since its conception. Names such as Boom Jinx, Michael Cassette, Jaytech, Andrew Bayer, PROFF, and 16BL (formerly 16 Bit Lolitas) were all part of the older generation of Anjunadeep cadets, while other names which are currently rocking the Deep and Melodic House scene also came from the later twelve years of it. See how many of these names you know: Lane 8, Yotto, Marsh, Ben Böhmer, Cubicolor, Spencer Brown, Tinlicker. Breathtaking, right?
As you can see, Anjunadeep has blossomed into an incredible amount of legendary artists, and it’s impossible to compile the best of their catalogue into one mix. BUT, our favourite British trio is giving it a go anyway.
Above & Beyond, The Anjunadeep Edition 500
Above & Beyond during their ABGT400 broadcast. Celebrating 500 episodes of the weekly radioshow The Anjunadeep Edition, which welcomes artists all over the world to play an hourlong mix of the best they have, the band, comprised of Tony McGuinness, Jono Grant, and Paavo Siljamäki, will take good care of the decks on this week’s broadcast. This year marks the tenth anniversary of the show being regularly on air. Actually, the episode, as a sort of majestic coincidence, will be streamed exactly 10 years to the day from the first-ever episode. Neat.
This news comes in really handy for all of those looking to be in London this summer for the imprint’s Open Air show return to Finsbury Park, since A&B announced not long ago they’ll be closing the day with a Deep set they’ve been preparing. We’re eagerly awaiting that day to read the tone of the set. Will it premiere any new Fingerprint or P.O.S IDs? There’s a collab lying around between Paavo and Fadi from Aly & Fila, maybe it’s a good place and time to play it…
Read the full announcement below, and stay tuned to our page for the latest news and views from our beloved industry.

Moore Kismet has never shied away from taking risks musically. And in their latest EP, huemor me, they've fearlessly done it again.
Arriving by way of RL Grime's Sable Valley, huemor me showcases the best of Kismet through intrinsic energy and raw production. The EP thrives on its variation as each track flourishes in its own lane while embracing a new era of their sound. It's a stunning body of work, one that aptly follows UNIVERSE.
The EDM.com Class of 2021 inductee kicks off with a bang, letting the high-octane spark of "HOW 2 BUILD A BETTER BOY" grab listeners' attention before the controlled chaos of "SURFACE" takes them by surprise. "NEVER BE LONELY" and "getSLAPPED!" dive further into Kismet's experimental range, increasing the tempo while subverting expectations with imaginative production.
Both WINK and Wavedash make massive contributions to huemor me, showcasing just how bright the future is for trap and Wave music. The former is sensational in "ENERGY," wherein he and Kismet capture a fluidity that beautifully unites their signature sounds. Kismet then calls on Wavedash for "HARNESS," harnessing the trio's rapturous sound to bring the EP home.

After a successful campaign at EDC Las Vegas 2023, End Overdose has instated an ambitious goal to expand their life-saving training and naloxone distribution at this year's festival.
The industry-leading nonprofit is finalizing plans to train 20,000 festival attendees when EDC returns to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway this weekend. From May 17-19, End Overdose will teach them how to recognize and respond to overdose situations as well as distribute 20,000 doses of naloxone, a life-saving resource.
The initiative builds on the remarkable success of End Overdose's 2023 campaign at EDC Las Vegas, where their team managed to train 10,000 attendees and equip them with the tools to effectively handle potential overdose emergencies. The effort marked a significant milestone in the dance music community's fight against the overdose crisis, reflecting a growing recognition of the importance of proactive safety measures at large-scale music events.
The training focuses on the identification of signs of an overdose and the step-by-step process of administering naloxone, commonly known by its brand name Narcan. The medicine can rapidly reverse the effects of an opioid overdose, often serving as the critical difference between life and death in such emergencies.
As EDC Las Vegas 2024 approaches, End Overdose is encouraging attendees to visit their booth to participate in the training. Taking a few minutes to learn life-saving techniques is a small investment with potentially life-altering returns, and through a combination of education, training and community support, they hope to create safer festival environments for all.
"We're able to reach hundreds of thousands of ravers in one weekend at EDC, and with the support of our friends at Insomniac, training 20,000 of them is in reach," Mike Giegerich, the organization's Director of Communications, said in a statement shared with EDM.com. "To anyone attending EDC, come by our booth, take our rapid three-minute training, and learn to save a life."

The popular DJ software rekordbox has officially launched its seventh version. As a matter of fact, AlphaTheta – the parent company of Pioneer DJ – made the announcement on Tuesday (May 14). It’s been four years since the last major update – rekordbox 6 – which changed the landscape of the software dramatically. This time, the changes are more subtle on a visual standpoint, but the effiency of the software has really improved. Let’s take a look at some of them.
rekordbox 7 takes the aesthetic aspect a little bit further than its predecessor, making the overall look more streamlined, spaced out, and easier to navigate. Most of the changes make it much more user-friendly. As for the efficency side, rekordbox 7 includes a complete rebuild from the ground up, now supporting Silicon chips on Apple computers and, according to AlphaTheta, featuring a much-improved performance with a “56% reduction in CPU Processing load and a 38% reduction in power consumption during startup”. There are also improved waveform rendering algorithms and database read/write speeds.
Some new cool features include are Collection Radar and Streaming Radar. To save you time, you can now get Rekordbox to do a whole lot of music prep for you. In fact, it can now find music options that are similar and compatible with what you’re playing, by measuring parameters like the track’s energy, key and BPM, amongst others. Another new feature is Intelligent Cue Creation. rekordbox can either set cue points at consistent intervals, or you can allow the software to analyse your collection for cue points you’ve already set. Rekordbox will then ‘learn’ your cue point style, and apply that style automatically to newly analysed music.
A lot of new features are also included in the new version, so you can check them out here.
Stay tuned for more news!

With his new EP, Effin's Jukebox Vol. 1, Effin is proving that a little alchemy can transform musical relics into pure gold.
The seasoned producer masterfully spins vintage soul and modern synths into a bold symphony in the new project. It beams to life by virtue of its opening track, "Down Town," an effort that starts with a deceptive jazz ease only to explode into a maze of gritty bass. In a clash of epochs, Yung Joc meets Rita Reys to set the stage for an EP that boldly seeks to shatter stylistic boundaries.
Another standout, "Hypnotized," similar plays like a musical experiment gone right. Artfully sampling the laid-back swagger of The Notorious B.I.G.'s "Hypnotize" alongside the melancholic strains of Betty Blake's "Lilac Wine," Effin crafts a haunting backdrop before the track escalates by layering frenetic, laser-like synths to challenge our perception of harmony and chaos.
Effin's mastery shines in how he stitches together disparate samples from drastically different musical backdrops. Like a modern-day Frankenstein, he animates these sonic fragments into a living, breathing beast of an EP. Each track is a showcase of his skill at navigating and repurposing the DNA of classic tracks, re-contextualizing them within the realm of electronic music in a way that not only pays homage to the originals, but also propels them into new, uncharted territories.

Moog Music announces the release of Spectravox, a semi-modular analogue spectral processor designed to broaden the horizons of musical expression and sound design. Spectravox is now available globally, offering a unique blend of classic Moog sound manipulation with cutting-edge features.
Spectravox joins Moog’s esteemed semi-modular family as a groundbreaking tool for auditory exploration. At its core, a visionary 10-band filter bank, paired with a robust analogue Moog oscillator and a dynamic white noise generator, forms the backbone of this versatile spectral processor. Spectravox is not just an instrument; it’s a portal into uncharted sonic realms, offering lively drones and colourful tonal sweeps that breathe life into any sound composition.
In 60HP format, Spectravox excels both as a standalone synthesizer and an integrative component in expansive Eurorack setups, providing unparalleled control over tonal shaping and spectral movement. With its dual-mode functionality, it is able to transform from a powerful synthesizer voice into a fully-featured 10-band vocoder. The integrated secondary filter bank meticulously analyzes the spectral makeup of incoming sounds, allowing users to imprint the timbral characteristics of external sources onto Spectravox’s rich analogue tones.
Whether it’s shaping the warm, resonant oscillations of Spectravox with the cadence of your voice or animating guitar chords with a drum machine to create mesmerizing, broadband percussive effects, the possibilities are as vast as your imagination. The combo XLR/jack program input ensures that whether you’re hooking up a microphone or integrating other sound modules, Spectravox adapts seamlessly, enhancing its surroundings with resonant depth and psychedelic spectral movements.
This highly flexible instrument and signal processor boasts an extensive patch bay, inviting musicians and sound designers to dive deep into a world of innovative sound design and complex audio manipulation. Spectravox is more than a synthesizer — it’s an exploration and expansion of the traditional vocoder and filter bank topology, engineered to inspire and transform the landscape of modern music production.
From Historical Inspiration to Modern Innovation
In 1928, Homer Dudley developed the Vocoder at Bell Labs, fundamentally changing sound transmission. His insights into speech synthesis paved the way for the Voder, introduced at the 1939 New York World’s Fair, captivating audiences and inspiring future innovations in sound processing. Building on this legacy, Spectravox uses a similar 10-band filter architecture, allowing users to sculpt sounds with historical depth and modern precision.
The collaboration between Wendy Carlos and Bob Moog, which began at the 1964 New York World’s Fair, also significantly influenced the Spectravox design. Their exploration of vocoders led to new ways of merging electronic tones with human expressiveness, epitomized in the iconic soundtrack of Stanley Kubrick’s A Clockwork Orange.
Designed to inspire through its analog engine and flexible modulation options, Spectravox is a powerful tool for live performance and studio recording alike. It transforms simple sounds into complex sonic landscapes, making it an instrument for anyone looking to explore new musical dimensions.
Key Features of Spectravox:
Semi-Modular Design: No patching is required to start, allowing immediate musical exploration. Dynamic 10-Band Filter Bank: Shift and shape frequencies to create everything from rich basses to ethereal pads. Extensive Connectivity: Integrate seamlessly with other Moog semi-modular instruments, Eurorack modules, and external sound sources. Innovative Modulation: Internal triangle wave LFO and external CV options for real-time control over filter movement and sonic texture. “Spectravox enhances Moog’s modular synthesis legacy by integrating a sophisticated vocoder alongside powerful analogue synthesis capabilities,” says Product Strategist, Max Ravitz at Moog Music. “This instrument is designed to give musicians comprehensive control over their sound, enabling detailed texture shaping and a broad spectrum of sonic experimentation.”
In a new video from Moog Music, Jamie Lidell invites you into the studio for a glimpse into his innovative use of the Spectravox synthesizer. Witness the artist’s creative process as he constructs an original piece, integrating the Spectravox with percussion, pedal steel guitar, and modular synthesizers to craft a unique sonic experience.
Throughout the making of “Awake and Alive,” Jamie demonstrates the versatility and sound-shaping capabilities of the Spectravox. From the outset, you can see a tape loop of Jamie’s vocals being intricately filtered through the Spectravox, setting the tone for the track. As the composition progresses, the Spectravox processes every element of the track — vocals, drums, pedal steel, and all synthesizers, infusing each with a distinct sonic character. Watch as Jamie manipulates its powerful 10-band vocoder to transform vocal harmonies and layers complex textures with its dynamic filter bank, showcasing the unit’s ability to bridge classic sound design with modern musical expressions.
Watch the debut of “Awake and Alive” by Jamie Lidell on Moog’s YouTube channel here.
Spectravox: Now Available for Order Worldwide
Spectravox is now shipping to authorized dealers globally at a price of $599 USD. Find a local Moog dealer to experience Spectravox first-hand and explore the vast sonic landscapes it offers.
