The most highly anticipated set of Coachella 2024 went down yesterday at the Quasar Stage and it was one for the books. Eric Prydz played b2b with Anyma for several hours. Perhaps the coolest nugget in this set was the dual screens which hosted Eric Prydz HOLO visuals on one side with Anyma humanoids on the other. The set featured the two going track for track, and you can peep the tracklist here.
The big moments came after the sun had set and the visuals came out in full force. The duo premiered a fresh collaborative mashup of Anyma’s Eternity with Eric’s Proper Education. Then, after a slightly awkward transition, OPUS came through with the ‘Simulation’ vocal and showed the two signature visual styles as if they were battling each other. Then, to close things out, the pair debuted a collaborative remix of the classic, ‘Somebody’s Watching Me’.
From the beginning of the set with the gorgeous golden skies, to the nightfall visual treat of the two visual packages going at it, this set was one for the ages. We’re sure we will be seeing it again in 2024 or 2025. Since Coachella is relentless with their Facebook copyright takedowns, we can’t post the clips on Facebook. However, we have the replay stream from YouTube below, featuring the final 30 minutes of the set.

One of the world’s top DJs has become embroiled in a bitter war of words with a leading Chinese singer over an alleged snub at a major music festival in Shanghai.
Martin Garrix, the Dutch superstar DJ, was accused by Huang Zitao – known simply as Tao – of refusing to share a stage with him during a planned joint performance at the festival on Saturday night.
Tao, 30, who shot to fame as a member of the South Korean-Chinese boyband EXO, launched an angry tirade against Garrix in a backstage livestream that has gone viral on Chinese social media.
In the expletive-laden video, a visibly furious Tao accused Garrix of failing to show up for rehearsals, only to then take to the stage alone during their supposedly joint segment.
Tao said that in his decade-long career, he had “never encountered someone disrespecting him like this“, adding that organizers told him Garrix would only join on the day of the actual performance.

Huang Zitao at Ports 1961 Opening Ceremonie in Shanghai, October 13th, 2015 When Tao later took to the stage alone, he continued venting his anger, directly addressing and swearing at fans as he recounted his version of events.
However, Garrix was quick to fight back against the accusations in a video of his own, claiming it had been well communicated in advance that the two artists would not actually perform together.
Martin Garrix said organizers had planned for them to only take to the stage individually, with a possibility for Tao to join him briefly at the end for a “photo moment” and “outro” as his vocals played.
But Garrix alleged that when this moment came and Tao’s song started, the singer himself was nowhere to be seen.
The DJ, whose global hits include Animals and In The Name of Love, also denied being absent from rehearsals, saying he was not even in China the previous day.
He apologized to fans but lambasted the “misinformation and lies being spread” – in an apparent rebuke of Tao’s allegations.
The feud has caused a social media storm in China, with Tao’s fans accusing Garrix’s camp of discriminating against the singer on account of his nationality. Others theorized there had been a breakdown in communication between the festival organizers and two performers.
Neither artist has publicly commented further since posting their contrasting video statements in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The controversy has brought renewed scrutiny on the lucrative practice of booking Western music stars to perform at high-profile events in China and other Asian markets.

A grand welcome is necessary for the electronic group Faithless! They have been hinting at a coming back to the stage for a few weeks now and we finally have more information. To welcome in their new era of Faithless, they are coming to a few cities before jumping into festival season.
They will be returning to the stage with a new live show. It’s been 8 years since their last visit to the stage. Now, Brussels, Luxembourg, Amsterdam, and London will be able to witness these more intimidate shows before Glastonbury, Wildness, and Bestival.
These will also be the first shows after the passing of the passing of bandmate and vocalist Maxi Jazz. Maxi Jazz, made up one-third of the trio and penned the iconic hit 1995 song ‘Insomnia’. Founding member, Sister Bliss, had some extremely kind words about their friend and the future:
“These shows are going to be a celebration of all our years in music – what we love, what we stand for as a band, and a real tribute to Maxi as well. We’ve been working on this for months now so there is a theme, there is a feeling, there is a vibe to the show, and it’s exciting,” she continued. “It will still have the rawness and edge that our shows are known for, and I think that’s because we’ve thought really hard about what we want to say both sonically and visually.”
“Obviously he won’t be there with us, but he’ll be there in spirit, and so the whole thing is a very new and different thing for us,” Sister Bliss shared. “I really hope people are going to get stuck in and dance, and really lose themselves in the music, because that’s what people have always done at a Faithless gig.”

New Avicii Documentary “Avicii – I’m Tim” explores the life of the Electronic Dance Music Legend
The 2024 Tribeca Film Festival will take place June 5-16, in New York City.
Organizers have recently unveiled this year’s lineup, which offers a diverse selection of films. While you can still enjoy foreign films and other niche genres, electronic music fans are in for a treat. Among the featured films is the world premiere of Avicii – I’m Tim, a documentary directed by Henrik Burman.
According to Billboard, the documentary will bring fans never-before-seen interviews with David Guetta and Avicii’s former collaborator, Chris Martin of Coldplay. Accompanied by a collection of photographs capturing a young Avicii, the film delves into the early life of the man who would later become one of EDM’s biggest stars, tragically cut short by suicide.
“Tim was a seeker, a sensitive and a shy person who wanted to know the truth and find ways to an inner peace, he reacted to the injustices of the world and cared deeply about the planet. Yet it was in his music that he expressed himself, honestly and openly, and it gave him the most joy… the creative process and collaborations with the people he loved and respected for their art and talent.” – Tim Bergling Foundation
While we all know and love Tim’s music, you can be sure to enjoy and appreciate it a bit more with this documentary.

On the other hand, eclectic selector and club favorite, Pickle, has a reputation for his unique song choices and for making some bumping house tracks. Now, the two have come together to rework a 90s classic with the help of Basement Jaxx vocalist Vula. With Joel’s signature style having both underground and mainstream appeal, ‘Stay Together (Baby Baby)’ incorporates Pickle’s heavier production influence and Vula’s unmistakable vocals to create a signature D4 D4NCE track that will set clubs worldwide on fire.
Ravers can expect nothing but a banger that will have them dancing all night; ‘Stay Together (Baby Baby)’ is out now across all platforms.

A true staple of the underground sound, French producer Julian Jeweil brings out the big guns in his latest release, Yeah/Basement. The two-track EP showcase Jeweil’s hard-hitting grooves and mastery of percussions. While partnering with Factory 93 for the release, this EP will resonate at festivals and clubs all over. If you need to break down new footwear, these songs will help you warm them up to wear them all night.
Yeah/Basement
Sometimes it is hard to choose a song that will start your night properly. Fear no more, as ‘Yeah’ will become your absolute party starter. From a light groove to impactful kicks, this song ought to attract more and more people to the dancefloor. The use of repetitive “yeah” hovers across the tracks with great buildups and sick drops. Moreover, the tempo has the perfect timing to make your dance moves explode in a seamless flow.
Basement is a dynamic song that fuses the sound of the underground along with some fun and determined vocal. “Ready for the drum” repeats throughout the track as the acid and reverbs take over. The repetitive dynamic of the vocal complements the minimal yet effective percussions. The final result is a multi-dynamic experience that truly represents the underground. Both tracks have a similar structure and carry each other together very nicely. ‘Basement’ is the darker side of ‘Yeah.’ However, both songs hit the mark tremendously.
More About Julian Jeweil
The Berlin based DJ and producer is a force to reckon with. With multiple Beatport chart-toppers since the early 2000s, Julian Jeweil has impacted the Techno scene with his unique approach to Techno. Whether he uses melodies or darker synths to produce, the results are usually showstopping. Jeweil has garnered the support from legends, including Joseph Capriati, Pan-Pot, and Deadmau5. Most recently, he has appeared in multiple Drumcode events and released multiple tracks under the major label.
You can find Julian on his socials and places like Loveland Fest this August. But if you do not want to wait that long you can always bring it down to the basement… oh yeah.

After the resounding success of the instrumental version of ‘Black Ice,’ Subtronics and REZZ tap ‘Black Out Days’ creators Phantogram to elevate the track with powerful, yet deeply haunting vocals. The follow up to Subtronics’ remix of ‘Black Out Days,’ Phantogram continues to show their crossover-ability translating in the dance world. ‘Black Ice’ was premiered for the first time live, in front of 30,000 fans at Beyond Wonderland music festival in Southern California on March 23, 2024. Listen here.
Drawing inspiration from the “tesseract,” a geometric marvel known in fourth-dimensional geometry as a 16-cell cube, Subtronics’ passion for quantum physics and high-dimensional theory is explored through the boundaries of sound design and genre fluidity, much like traversing the cosmos.  This is evident throughout the album’s audio-visual experience, while continuing to channel his fascination into an innovative stage design, accompanied by breathtaking visual elements for the TESSERACT tour.
ABOUT PHANTOGRAM
Lauded as an experimental and alternative band and one that’s never been married to a particular genre, Phantogram – comprised of lifelong friends Josh Carter and Sarah Barthel – have continued to change the zeitgeist for almost a decade by consistently challenging it with their signature blend of hard-hitting beats, guitar driven dark psychedelia and electronic pop.
ABOUT REZZ
29-year-old Canadian DJ/producer Isabelle Rezazadeh AKA Rezz has racked up tens of millions of streams, sold out legendary venues and headlined top festivals around the world. She oozes originality and produces genre-bending electronic works, striking a sharp balance between bass-heavy and minimal tech compositions.

One of the lead labels for artists specializing in live performances, ASW released an exceptional album showcasing some of its most notorious releases. Mixed by none other than the great Carl Cox, the new LP released by the label created by the English DJ Christopher Coe is an exhibition of unique, underground talent. Titled ‘ASW Is Live Mixed By Carl Cox’, this one is certain to become an industry favorite.
Nowadays, compilation albums are one of the most popular ways labels promote their work and identity. Taking several songs from your catalog and grouping them for one strong release is most definitely the way to go. It helps both in marketing terms and when it comes to the impact the release can have inside the scene.
ASW Highlights The Uniqueness Of Live Performance
The Awesome Soundwave catalog is certainly one of the unique proposals we’ve heard of recently. Artists included in this compilation belong to a wide range. From afrohouse act Digital Afrika to experimental electronic house artist Stimming. These are some of the examples of the stuff you can find on this unique release. Artists known not only for their underground style and persona but for their mastery of live performing.
On this new album, you can find different sounds, genres, and the same quality in every single one of them. Listening to Carl’s mix of 25 tracks from 25 artists highlights the range of talent and diversity of output from the Awesome Soundwave family. Certainly, a strong, well-thought-out, and quality-crafted release.
