Hardwell has grown a reputation for his explosive energy and innovative contributions to the EDM genre. He has released a number of tracks that have left a mark on the dance music scene. While some of his singles have achieved widespread acclaim, several standout tracks remain overlooked. Here’s a closer look at five forgotten Hardwell singles that deserve more attention.
1. Three Triangles (2014)
Released in April 2014, “Three Triangles (Losing My Religion)” was a powerful collaboration between Hardwell and fellow DJs, W&W. This track took inspiration from the classic hit “Losing My Religion” by R.E.M., blending its iconic melody with a high-energy, modern EDM twist. Despite its promising concept and strong support during live sets, “Three Triangles” did not achieve the commercial success anticipated. Its unique blend of melodic elements with festival-ready beats should not be overlooked, as it showcases Hardwell’s ability to integrate classic themes into contemporary dance music.
2. Blackout (2015)
In March 2015, Hardwell dropped “Blackout,”a collaboration with the Dutch DJ duo, MAKJ. This track delivered a punch with its high-octane energy and explosive drops. Although “Blackout” was well-received within the DJ community and at festivals, it did not capture the mainstream attention one might expect. Its high-energy synths and heavy bass make it a noteworthy example of Hardwell’s prowess in creating festival anthems, demonstrating a darker, more intense side of his production style.
3. Wake Up Call (2016)
“Wake Up Call“, released in January 2016, featured the vocals of American singer and songwriter, Krewella. This track had all the elements of a potential hit: an infectious chorus and a blend of Hardwell’s signature big-room sound with Krewella’s energetic vocals. Despite this, the track did not make as significant an impact as other Hardwell releases of the time. Its upbeat, catchy nature and strong vocal performance make it a standout track that reflects Hardwell’s ability to craft memorable collaborations.
4. Kicking It Hard (2017)
Released in October 2017, “Kicking It Hard” was a collaboration between Hardwell and Australian DJ/producer, Timmy Trumpet. The track, known for its vibrant trumpet melody and energetic beats, showcased Hardwell’s versatility in experimenting with different sounds and styles. Although the track resonated well with fans of both artists, it didn’t gain the same level of mainstream recognition as some of their other tracks. Its distinct blend of EDM and live instrumental elements makes it a unique entry in Hardwell’s discography.
5. Go To War (2018)
“Go To War,” released in September 2018, was Hardwell’s final single before taking a break from touring. Featuring a powerful, anthemic sound and driving beats, the track was a fitting farewell to his active performing phase. Despite its impactful release and high-energy production, “Go To War” did not achieve the widespread acclaim anticipated. Its raw energy and compelling build-up exemplify Hardwell’s ability to craft dramatic, festival-ready tracks, and it stands as a testament to his influence in the EDM scene before his short-lived hiatus.

When DVBBS & Borgeous unleashed ‘Tsunami’ upon the world in 2013, they weren’t just dropping a track—they were creating a seismic event that would ripple through the dance music scene for years to come. It’s hard to believe that a decade has passed since that iconic drop first hit the airwaves, leaving an indelible mark on the genre and solidifying its place in the annals of EDM history.
The rise of ‘Tsunami’ was nothing short of meteoric. As the title suggests, the track hit listeners like a tidal wave, a force of nature that was impossible to ignore. With its relentless build-up and earth-shaking drop, ‘Tsunami’ became an instant favorite amongst global fans. The song’s raw energy and sheer power were like a tsunami crashing onto the shore, sweeping everything in its path.
At the heart of ‘Tsunami’ lies a powerful metaphor. The track’s relentless progression mirrors the unstoppable force of nature from which it takes its name. Just as a tsunami builds momentum as it approaches the shore, ‘Tsunami’ crescendos with a tension-filled rise that finally erupts into one of the most explosive drops in EDM history. This drop isn’t just a musical moment—it’s a statement, a declaration that DVBBS & Borgeous had arrived and were here to stay.
The impact of ‘Tsunami’ went far beyond the dance floor. It became a cultural phenomenon, capturing the spirit of a generation that craved intensity and release. The track’s success was undeniable, quickly climbing the charts and becoming a staple in DJ sets around the world. From the main stages of Tomorrowland to the underground clubs of Ibiza, ‘Tsunami’ was a unifying force, a track that transcended borders and brought people together in a shared moment of euphoria.
But what made ‘Tsunami’ truly special was its ability to tap into something deeper—a primal need for release, for letting go of the pressures of everyday life and losing oneself in the music. The track’s title and its overwhelming soundscape invite listeners to be swept away, to surrender to the power of the music and ride the wave of pure energy. In this way, ‘Tsunami’ became more than just a song; it became an experience, a cathartic release that resonated with fans on a visceral level.
In the years since its release, ‘Tsunami’ has continued to inspire and influence the EDM landscape. It’s a track that has stood the test of time, still evoking the same adrenaline-fueled rush it did a decade ago. Whether you’re hearing it for the first time or the hundredth, ‘Tsunami’ is a reminder of the power of music to move us, to connect us, and to remind us that sometimes, it’s okay to let the waves take us wherever they may.
As we celebrate the eleventh anniversary of ‘Tsunami’ , we can look back with admiration at how this track reshaped the EDM world. Its legacy is one of unbridled energy, unifying power, and the simple yet profound joy of being swept away by the music. So here’s to‘Tsunami’ , the wave that never stopped crashing—and to the countless moments of euphoria it has given us over the last ten years.

When Daft Punk shattered our dreams by announcing their split back in 2021, the prospect of a Tron sequel without their creative input felt like a cruel glitch in the system. Now, Disney has revealed who will step into the robots' shoes: the influential duo of Nine Inch Nails' Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.
In the world of Tron, music is the pulse of the digital landscape. Fans of the franchise surely remember how Daft Punk's timeless soundtrack and appearance in Tron: Legacy intertwined with the film's visual spectacle and elevated it to cult-classic status. Tracks like "Derezzed" became instant classics, cementing the legendary electronic music duo's legacy as the sonic architects of the Grid.
But when they officially disbanded, the future of Tron's soundscape was thrown into uncertainty. Enter Reznor and Ross, the industrial rock legends whose visceral scores have shaped films like The Social Network and Pixar's Soul, both of which landed them the Academy Award for Best Original Score.
The duo's pedigree positions them as the perfect successors to Daft Punk's Tron legacy. The future of the franchise's soundtrack is now in the hands of a tandem that has redefined film scores, and fans can rest assured that the digital frontier will be as audibly thrilling as ever.
"The Tron series of films has a real high bar when it comes to composers and scoring music," Reznor said in a recent red carpet interview. "So when it was offered, we were excited and we're up for blowing everybody's minds in the process."
The Grid will light up once more when Tron: Ares hits theaters on October 10th, 2025.

A recent interview with Martin Garrix has sparked widespread speculation about a potential collaboration with Coldplay.
After Coldplay unexpectedly featured Garrix's track "Breakaway" in their Glastonbury 2024 set, the prospect of him joining forces with the chart-topping band is no longer just a far-fetched fantasy for fans.
In a recent interview with Jordi Warners of the Dutch station Radio 538, Garrix let slip a tantalizing hint that sent the rumor mill into overdrive. After receiving a text message from Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, the Dutch dance music superstar was left in disbelief.
"I thought to myself, is this real?" Garrix recalled in comments translated from Dutch by EDM.com. "And it turned out that it was really Chris and yes, very surreal."
But the interview didn't stop there. When asked about the potential for a studio collaboration between the two, Garrix's response was anything but vague.
"I think it's only a matter of time before a lot of great things come," he hinted, suggesting that this dream team-up could be on the horizon sooner than we think.

Six years ago today, Marshmello released ‘Happier’, a collaboration with British indie pop band Bastille. This soulful track features a bittersweet chorus that ends with the lines, “I wanna raise your spirits / I want to see you smile, but / Know that means I’ll have to leave,” urging listeners to reflect on past moments.
The music video deepens the song’s emotional impact, portraying a young girl who grows into a woman and eventually becomes a mother. The story begins with her father giving her a puppy for her birthday. As the girl matures, the dog becomes her constant companion, offering comfort during tough times. In a tearful goodbye, she must say goodbye to her beloved pet as it passes away. The video then fast-forwards to her adulthood, where she is now a mother. At her daughter’s birthday party, her father, now a grandfather, gifts his granddaughter a puppy, bringing the mother to tears.
It’s no surprise that ‘Happier’ is Marshmello‘s most-streamed track on Spotify and his first Top 10 hit, peaking at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song’s popularity even led to its use in an Amazon Echo commercial and Google’s Year in Search for 2018—both in the same year.

Listen to the most flavour-packed tracks we discovered this week.
Music makes the world go round. And in that regard, we’re constantly on the lookout for new, exciting tunes to share with our audience. We’ve found some that cause goosebumps, and make you open your eyes and get up from your chair to dance. So put on your best pair of headphones, or turn up your speakers, and enjoy this week’s New Music Friday.
Here are our top picks for the best music we came across this week, in no particular order. And remember, if you would like to contact us for a chance to feature your track on our page, head over to this link right here.
Ben Böhmer – Rust
Genre: Melodic House
This week we were graced by the award-winning artist and producer Ben Böhmer, who unveiled yet another wonderful single, entitled ‘Rust.’ The track continues the lead-up to Böhmer’s third studio album, Bloom, arriving September 27 via Ninja Tune. This one is a treat for all of us who have been following him for years.
While Ben’s previous singles serve as a stark departure from his signature sound, ‘Rust’ is a callback for his fans who adore the sound of his previous projects. Begin Again (2021) and Breathing (2019) earned Ben immense success, and this single is a nod to the dreamy, Melodic House sound we all associate with him.
Tiago Dima & Will Vance – Air And Darkness
Genre: Organic House, Melodic House
We’ve been digging the MMR releases lately. They’re developing a lovely sound that spans all things Melodic, Organic, above and below. And this time we’ve got Will Vance — an old friend — behind the decks. He’s joined Tulum sensation Tiago Dima on a beautiful release, simply titled ‘Air And Darkness‘.
This one is a beautiful piece of Organic. So organic, in fact, the bass is much more analogue and real than it is digital and programmed. Can I just say, for the record, that bell playing through the break, really reminds us of that one DKC track, ‘Aquatic Ambience’. The nostalgia paired with the sheer nature of this record carved a spot for itself in our hearts.

Porter Robinson feat. Amy Millan – Hollowheart
Genre: Ambient / Electronica
One of the defining albums of EDM, one of the core ingredients of what we are today as a genre, that’s Worlds to us, Porter Robinson‘s beloved artist album. This week, his debut LP turned 10. And in true Porter fashion, he finally released the “lost” 13th track that never made it onto Worlds.
Four years ago, out of the blue, Porter tweeted that he uploaded another track that he created in 2012, ‘Shepherdess / She Heals Everything‘, for the 6th anniversary. Along with that, he explained that he would release ‘Hollowheart‘, one of the album’s declined tunes, for its tenth birthday. And here we are, enjoying a lovely Ambient piece — with lossless free download. What more could you ask for?!
Porter Robinson · Hollowheart ft. Amy Millan (From the Worlds 10th Anniversary Edition) Peggy Gou – Find The Way
Genre: Tech House, House
Dropping just ahead of her biggest headline show to date at London’s Gunnersbury Park this weekend, the artist, producer, DJ and cultural trailblazer Peggy Gou returned with her latest ‘Find The Way‘ on Gudu Records. The first new track since the release of her debut album I Hear You, this latest single builds on her recent sonic terrain.
Making a midsummer bid for song of the season, on ‘Find The Way’ Gou addictively blends her featherlight breezy vocals with a balmy, technicolour 90s House beat lush with mellow keys, acid-tinged synths and hypnotic basslines. The year 2024 has been a huge one for Gou already with the release of her hotly anticipated debut album I Hear You on XL Recordings in June.
Final Words

On August 16, 2005, the world was introduced to a track that would become a defining anthem of the dance scene: “Everytime We Touch” by Cascada. The song didn’t just top charts—it became a cultural phenomenon that would forever change electronic dance music.
“Everytime We Touch” wasn’t just another song, it was a game-changer. Cascada, fronted by singer Natalie Horler and producers DJ Manian and Yanou, delivered an anthem that caught on with listeners worldwide. It dominated radio stations, clubs, and parties across the globe.
The single quickly climbed the charts, reaching top positions in several countries, including the UK, US, and throughout Europe. Its success was further amplified by its music video, which featured amazing energy and an upbeat vibe.
While “Everytime We Touch” is often associated with the 2000s dance scene, its influence on EDM cannot be overstated. The song helped bridge the gap between mainstream pop and electronic music, bringing dance music to a wider audience. Before Cascada’s hit, EDM was primarily an underground genre in clubs and festivals, but rarely breaking into the mainstream. “Everytime We Touch” was one of the tracks that changed that narrative.
Cascada’s success paved the way for a new wave of electronic artists to emerge and find commercial success. The song’ became a blueprint for future EDM hits, influencing artists and producers across the genre. In the years that followed, the fusion of pop and EDM would become a dominant force in the music industry, with artists like Calvin Harris, David Guetta, and The Chainsmokers continuing to blur the lines between the two genres.

Burning Man‘s annual ticket scramble has taken an unexpected turn this year, with attendees facing significant financial losses as they desperately try to offload unwanted passes.
Traditionally, Burning Man tickets have been highly sought after, with resale prices often surpassing face value. But this isn’t a typical year: Burning Man still hasn’t sold out online, the organization hawked tickets in-person for the first time since 2011 and Facebook is flooded with people desperately trying to offload extra passes.
Long-time attendees, known as Burners, are reeling from the sudden drop in value. Many have found themselves in the unenviable position of selling their tickets at a substantial loss, with some reporting losses of hundreds of dollars. Theme camps, which often purchase multiple tickets in advance, are particularly hard hit.
The reasons behind the plummeting ticket prices are still unclear. While Burning Man organizers attribute the decline to global economic trends and a shift in last-minute ticket buying, many Burners believe the issue lies with the organization’s handling of ticket sales.
Last year’s Burning Man event was marred by severe weather conditions and logistical challenges, leading to a prolonged evacuation. The traumatic experience may have deterred some long-time attendees from returning this year, contributing to the overall drop in ticket sales. Additionally, the negative press surrounding the event might have discouraged potential first-time attendees, further impacting demand.
As the event approaches, some attendees are exploring creative alternatives to selling their tickets, such as bartering for goods or services. Others are expressing concerns about the influx of last-minute attendees, fearing a potential decline in the event’s unique culture and community spirit.
With the Burning Man experience facing unprecedented challenges, the future of this iconic event remains uncertain. More on this news and details here.

In turn, Hristov finally gets to see his chance at a release on Drumcode.

From the start, it is driven by dreamy synth lines and an arresting vocal, while balancing silky and punchy elements with a deft ease. Then, it moves into a succession of atmosphere-laden bass stabs and effects of varying rhythms and intensity. It’s a dynamic cut that repeatedly piques your interest to the end. This is a solid addition to the Drumcode discography.
What’s more, Bart Skils liked the tracks so much that he even linked Hristov to Beyer immediately!

From spinning records to setting them straight, James Hype has had enough of fans falsely claiming he does not DJ live.
His recent clash with skeptics and rebuttal to such claims highlight a persistent issue in the electronic music community: accusations of "fake DJing" continue to plague even the most talented artists. That troubling trend, Hype says, is "damaging for the culture."
"A few months ago I started to notice a trend: Whenever a video of my DJing went viral, 50% of the comments were from people saying it was fake and that I was a fraud," Hype said in an emailed statement to EDM.com. "There seems to be a narrative that all big DJs on big stages are playing pre-recorded sets and I want to break that. I’m trying to deliver a different show every single time and doing stuff that’s actually LIVE, unique, and RISKY is the only way I know how to perform."
Hype then invoked a 2021 livestream by deadmau5 that resurfaced in the summer of 2023, wherein the influential producer claimed that DJs performing at major festivals play pre-recorded sets "most of the time" to adhere to rigorous time constraints imposed by the organizers of those events.
A few months later in November 2023, a contentious Reddit thread began to pick up steam as ravers questioned en masse which DJs were genuinely performing live at EDC Orlando. Hype, who was mentioned frequently, then took to social media to bemoan deadmau5's commentary by virtue of an Instagram Reel containing a number of clips from his DJ sets.
"I saw a video where deadmau5 told his fans that EDC requires all artists to pre-record and it’s just not true, I’ve played all the biggest festivals on all the biggest stages!" Hype's statement continues. "I think this narrative is damaging for the culture and the new DJs coming up."
It's worth noting that deadmau5 clarified his remarks in a comment on Hype's Reel. "I'm almost positive this wasn't directed at you," he wrote at the time. "Nor was it at anyone really, getting pretty tired of having to explain myself over and over, but the clip was taken and edited from a literal popcorn eating facetious rant... but since everyone's just taking it so damn serious, run with it I guess."

Hype's comments are timely. From a macro standpoint, today's DJs must navigate a landscape where technical prowess and creative pre-planning are both essential and scrutinized. To that end, it's fair to wonder whether the culture's obsession with authenticity in the social media age sadly overlooks the rigorous preparation and skill required to deliver a DJ set of Hype's competence.
A real challenge lies in educating audiences and preserving the integrity of DJing in an increasingly pernicious digital world. Whether or not the stigma persists remains to be seen, but it's a safe bet.
Fans of Hype can catch him DJing at his Hï Ibiza residency every Friday through October 4th, 2024 as well as at Creamfields, III Points and Groove Cruise, among other festivals. Check out his tour here.
