Gorgon City Releases New Single ‘One New Change’

Following the release of lead single ‘Biggest Regret’ (with Bbyafricka), the club-ready ‘You Know It,’ and the anthemic ‘All That You Need,‘ ‘One New Change‘ is another sign of things to come from Gorgon City’s upcoming summer LP, full of bouncing toplines and filthy basslines that worm themselves into the brain. 
Reverie is the follow-up to the acclaimed 2023 LP Salvation, which was packed with hit singles including ‘Voodoo‘ and ‘Pose,‘ in a year which involved another dominant global live schedule, with highlights including the first headline artist at London’s now iconic Drumsheds, Red Rocks Amphitheatre, a sold-out Brooklyn Mirage, continued Ibiza residency and festival slots at Tomorrowland, Creamfields, Lollapalooza + more. 
The single continues a busy few months for Gorgon City, with plenty of opportunities to showcase their new material at their recent REALM Showcase in Miami, Las Vegas Residency at LIV after their massive return to world-renowned Coachella Festival, where the duo headlined the Yuma Stage on the Friday night. In addition to their impressive live schedule, the dance giants also recently took the helm of the BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix, celebrating 10 years since their last mix appearance with a special ‘time capsule’ mix.

NGHTMRE Taps Rezz, Liquid Stranger, & More For New ‘UNSOUND 2 EP’

Fresh off his EDC Las Vegas headlining set at the BassPod, trap/dubstep kingpin NGHTMRE has unveiled his latest EP, UNSOUND 2. Launched in 2022 with its inaugural edition, the UNSOUND concept is a vessel for cultivating cross-genre collaborations and championing emerging dubstep acts – a multi-purpose project that showcases NGHTMRE’s world-class production and curatorial talents.

The DJ/producer’s UNSOUND 2 EP combines bass juggernauts with rising stars for six tracks that are brimming with boisterous beats and gripping sound design. The EP’s grandiose, opulent approach is exemplified on tracks such as ‘TORTURE,’ a collaboration with Dutch bass prodigy Franky Nuts and goth-inspired vocalist DeathbyRomy. Kicking off with lush piano chord progressions that underlie DeathbyRomy’s haunting opening verse, the track builds with atmospheric textures and ascending synths before dropping into a section of massive, syncopated bass rhythms.
The rest of UNSOUND 2’s tracklist is filled with similarly forward-thinking, ferocious presentations. ‘In Your Eyes‘ sees NGHTMRE tap into some of the most in-demand up-and-coming acts, such as experimental bass purveyor Jon Casey and producer/vocalist Pauline Herr. The result is a towering sonic arena full of distorted, growling bass wubs and thunderous, trunk-rattling percussion.
On ‘Thrilla,’ a track with trap-infused bass producer Juelz and British rapper ShaSimone, the three artists combine breakbeats, trap rhythms, and blazing industrial sound design with buttery hip-hop vocal flows. Then, on ‘ALL NIGHT,’ NGHTMRE brings on queen Rezz for an alternative version of ‘TORTURE,’ retaining the central principles of the original track but infusing it with Rezz’s spacious, signature mid-tempo bliss.
UNSOUND 2 is then rounded out by ‘Restless,’ a euphoric track with genre-blending dubstep maestro Liquid Stranger and angelic vocalist Mougleta, and ‘Brand New Love,’ a dynamic collaboration with future riddim pioneer Ace Aura and singer Marlhy that combines shiny, laser-infused bass sound design with plucky melodies.
Bold, audacious, and immaculately constructed, UNSOUND 2 is a spellbinding exhibition of NGHTMRE’s collaborative production prowess, and a perfect way to celebrate the 10th anniversary of his artist project.\

NGHTMRE Teams Up With Rezz, Ace Aura and More for Riveting EP, "Unsound 2"

Serving as a vehicle to champion promising bass music artists, NGHTMRE's new EP is as much a music release as it is an incubator.
Unsound 2, out now via his own Gud Vibrations imprint, finds the producer unleashing a torrent of explosive collaborations alongside artists from whom he's drawn inspiration in that time.
"The UNSOUND projects are all about collaboration! I reached out to some of my favorite producers from all over the world for this EP," NGHTMRE said in a press release. "I really tried not to think too much on a specific genre or boundary for this, and just focused on writing what felt cool and inspiring."
It's tough to believe it's been 10 years since the advent of NGHTMRE, whose sound remains as compelling as ever. Through its alchemical fusion of seasoned mastery and unbridled potential, the project challenges the boundaries of bass music while nurturing the nascent talents that will help sculpt the genre's future.

Featuring six vocal-driven bass anthems with bite, the EP is where the unsound becomes the profoundly sublime. Listeners needn't look any further than its opener, "All Night," a midtempo collaboration with Rezz and DeathbyRomy that doubles as a masterclass in tension and release.
The same goes for "In Your Eyes," where Pauline Herr's aching vocals—a captivating cry for help—serenade us through an arrangement with squelching dubstep drops from NGHTMRE and Jon Casey; and "Torture," where DeathbyRomy reappears with her haunting vocal swells before they're swallowed by Franky Nuts' ferocious production.
Elsewhere, NGHTMRE goes fire-and-brimstone alongside Juelz in "Thrilla," a distorted trap banger featuring the slick braggadocio of British-Ghanaian rapper ShaSimone; and "Torture," an anthemic heavy-hitter with Liquid Stranger and Mougleta.
The EP's crown jewel, however, is saved for last. NGHTMRE closes with "Brand New Love," a collaboration with Marlhy and EDM.com Class of 2022 star Ace Aura. A cathartic exploration of toxic relationships and self-destructive coping mechanisms, Marlhy's lyricism resonates with searing emotional honesty as Aura's signature color-bass sound soars.

“This EP defines my sound as an artist. Vibrant has been a staple in my sets for years, I finished it back in 2021 and for 3+ years, labels have denied it over and over again. I finally decided to put it out and stop waiting for a label to see what I see in it. Around this time I was working on Best of Me, a 132bpm track and easily the highest tempo track I’d ever made! It was really exciting. I was sitting there looking at FL Studio and was thinking to myself ‘I’m gonna take a risk and put out Vibrant, here’s this new song at a BPM I’ve never worked on before, this is a risk too, let’s make it an EP.’ Making that decision felt really good, and I’m so glad I did because now these two tracks are out in the world! And, the cherry on top, I think they both sound perfect for the summer season. I just couldn’t be happier!” says Ekonovah

Sam Blacky and Niniola Join Forces for Soulful Single, "Ronaldinho"

Sam Blacky's transition into globally-inspired music has led to some of her best work to-date. This time around, she's outdone herself by joining forces with Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Niniola for a soulful new track, "Ronaldinho."
Out now via Easier Said, the song is a masterful showing from both Blacky and Niniola, who have cooked up a summer hit befit for a club, festival or trip to the beach. The four-on-the-floor beat is peppered with nuance, beautifully incorporating Niniola's stunning voice for an experience that's both spiritual and uplifting. 
However, the track isn't simply just a club-ready showcase. With lyrics inspired by the iconic footballer Ronaldinho, it holds deeper meaning for both Blacky and Niniola, the former's adoration of Afro-house flourishing while the latter's Nigerian roots bloom with visceral storytelling.
"As the years have passed, my passion has become more and more integrated with what we know as Afro house," Blacky said in a press release. "When the opportunity came up to work with one of the original, most iconic singers in that realm, all the way from Nigeria, there was no question. I heard what Niniola had done with the vocals for 'Ronaldinho' and knew I had to make this song with her. ARTBAT Remix Chemical Brothers’ Club Classic ‘Hey Boy Hey Girl’

The next release on the mighty Positiva Records is a collaboration of dance music’s most globally recognized names. Ukrainian duo ARTBAT remix The Chemical Brothers‘ seminal club classic, ‘Hey Boy, Hey Girl.’
The Chemical Brothers laid the foundations for the early dance music sound and have remained at its forefront ever since. As live artists and producers, they have explored many styles, from psychedelic to big beat to techno. They have crafted countless global hits and Number 1 albums, from their groundbreaking debut Exit Planet Dust in 1995 to their recent ninth album, No Geography, which was the pair’s sixth successful chart-topper. They have played every major festival on the planet, and for years ‘Hey Boy Hey Girl’ remains one of their most recognizable tracks. 
ARTBAT are modern dance music tastemakers who have a widescreen sound that is meticulously well crafted, whether operating in deep melodic worlds or more powerful techno spheres. They head up their own influential UPPERGROUND label, and already this year, they have played two scintillating shows at Coachella and will soon open Amnesia Ibiza‘s first-ever melodic techno residency, Horizon. Artur and Batish are huge fans of the whole Chemical Brothers music legacy as they grew up on it and still get a lot of inspiration and influence from them.
The electrifying ‘Hey Boy Hey Girl’ (ARTBAT Remix) retains the original’s buzzy synth texture and tension but with extra synths layered in that spray about the mix over the rolling drums. MEDUZA and James Hype Are Giving Away a Free Trip to Ibiza

MEDUZA and James Hype are offering up the "trip of a lifetime" to one lucky fan after launching a contest to win a free trip to Ibiza. 
Those who enter the duo's new sweepstakes will secure a free trip to the White Isle to experience their "Our House" takeover at Hï Ibiza on May 31st. They'll provide free flights and accommodations for the winner and one friend, they said, as well as all-access passes to the event.
Entry to the competition is as simple as liking and commenting "IBIZA" on their collaborative Instagram post below, as well as tagging a friend. Multiple entries can be submitted.
Hype and MEDUZA introduced their signature "Our House" series of shows last year at ADE. Their goal is for attendees to fully immerse in the experience and its music by staunchly discouraging smartphone usage on the dancefloor.
"We encourage you to let go and enjoy house music through your ears and eyes rather than at the end of a filmed piece of content on a phone," they said at the time.
All entries to the contest must be submitted by 9am PT (12pm ET) on May 26th. A winner will be selected the following day, May 27th, according to Hype and MEDUZA.

Released 7 Years Ago: Axwell & Ingrosso – More Than You Know

Seven years ago, on May 24, 2017, the dynamic Swedish duo Axwell Λ Ingrosso released ‘More Than You Know’, a track that quickly became a defining hit in their illustrious career. We went to Medellín for Tomorrowland presentes CORE

As someone lucky enough to attend both days of the inaugural CORE Medellín festival, I can confidently say this was one of the most unique and ambitious dance music events I’ve ever experienced.
Tomorrowland’s creative wizards absolutely outdid themselves with the spectacular new CORE stage design that debuted here in the beautiful Parque Norte of Colombia’s second-largest city.
The new stage: a massive 17-meter tall and 30-meter wide structure
The 17-meter tall, 30-meter wide inflatable stage was a true feat of engineering – packed with 209 moving lights, water features that shot geysers into the air, dazzling pyrotechnics, thick clouds of smoke and fog, and brilliant LED displays. Yet the entire stage broke down into just a single shipping container for its world tour. The visual production seamlessly melded with thumping techno and house sounds to create an all-encompassing audiovisual journey.
Over the two sold-out days, nearly 40,000 music fans were treated to 22 hours of memorable performances spread across the CORE stage and two other more intimate stages – the woodsy AltVerda and mystical Arbo setups.

The CORE stage hosted headlining performances from the likes of ANNA, BICEP’s high-energy DJ set, Brina Knauss, Mind Against’s hypnotic beats, and a live hardware set from Turkish composer Bora Uzer that was a particular standout.
The AltVerda stage’s unique design with light columns stretching into the forest set the scene for DJ BORING’s quirky sounds, the dark techno of HAAi and fka.m4a, and Dana Montana’s vocal house. Meanwhile, the fabrics and smoky atmosphere of the Arbo stage made for a cozy vibe as Julianna, Mystery Affair, Valesuchi and others performed.
As both sunsets cascaded purples and oranges across the Medellín sky, the CORE stage really came alive with its full lighting wizardry synchronized to every kick drum. Towering inflatable sculptures shifted colors and shapes in time with the music in a truly mesmerizing display. With convenient amenities and plenty of space to dance, the grounds of Parque Norte made for the ideal setting.
From Tulum to Medellín and Tomorrowland Belgium
After its unforgettable debut in Tulum’s jungles earlier this year, the CORE stage has now worked its magic in Medellín before continuing its global tour to Tomorrowland’s 20th anniversary in Belgium this summer and then Tomorrowland Brasil in October. If those shows are anything like this spellbinding experience in Colombia, they are can’t-miss events for dance music fans.
CORE Medellín felt like the start of a new era of immersive and spectacular festival experiences. By investing in a mobile mega-structure stage while still booking a diverse array of forward-thinking artists, the event struck the perfect balance between artistry and innovation.

Machinedrum releases ‘3FOR82’ on Ninja Tune

Machinedrum (aka Travis Stewart) releases his long-awaited, genre-defying new album ‘3FOR82’. Between drum & bass, hip-hop, jazz, R&B and juke, Stewart weaves in an impressive crew of collaborators on ‘3FOR82’ including Jesse Boykins III, the album’s co-executive producer, plus various contributions from KUČKA, AKTHESAVIOR, Duckwrth, Ezri, Tanerélle, DeniroFarrar, TopazJones, deem spencer, ajamonet, ROZET, WillJohnson, IanMaciak and Tinashe. 
Throughout the album they ponder the question: “If you could visit with your younger self, what would you say to them?”. Travis himself re-visited old production methods from his teenage years making beats for the album using ImpulseTracker (a 90s software sequencer) and in that way, having a conversation with his younger self. The result is an album threading the needle between past, present and future; one that is as equally compassionate as it is boisterous, as comforting as it is defiant, and 100% true to Travis’ enduring M.O.
‘3FOR82’ builds on the vocalist-centric, genre-blending songwriting of the last Machinedrum album, 2020’s ‘A View Of U’, and the thematic groundwork laid down on the 2023 EP ‘4#TRAX’. This rich, prismatic approach to collaboration builds on the uptempo vocal manipulations that won Stewart acclaim in electronic communities, notably on 2011’s breakout LP ‘Room(s)’ and 2013 opus ‘Vapor City’. Previous singles on ‘3FOR82’ include “ZOOM (feat. Tinashe)”, “ILIKEU (feat. Duckwrth)”, “RISE (feat. ROZET)” and “WEARY (feat. Mick Jenkins & Jesse Boykins III)” which showcase Stewart’s mastery of club music and impressive range. 
Machinedrum takes his brand new live AV show featuring drummer Ian Maciak and visuals by Strangeloop Studios on tour this Spring/Summer. Headline shows kicked off in Australia and NZ during March, followed by North America in (May-July) and UK/EU planned for October. Tickets are on sale now for his London show at Studio9294 on 16th October. 
2024 summer festivals include Northern Nights, June Jam, SolFest, BassCoast, and Bonnaroo as well as Lightning in a Bottle today, where Machinedrum will be celebrating the album’s release with a special DoLab listening party.
