Fifteen years ago, on August 24, 2009, David Guetta released ‘One More Love’, an album that would become a defining moment in both his career and the evolution of electronic dance music. This album, a reissue of his fourth studio album ‘One Love’, was packed with chart-topping hits and collaborations that bridged the gap between the underground club scene and mainstream pop, solidifying Guetta‘s status as one of the most influential figures in the music industry.
‘One More Love’ is a testament to Guetta‘s ability to blend infectious dance beats with pop sensibilities, creating tracks that not only dominated dance floors but also conquered radio waves across the globe. The album featured some of the biggest names in music, including Kelly Rowland, Akon, Kid Cudi, and Estelle, showcasing Guetta‘s knack for bringing together diverse talents to create something truly special.
The album’s lead singles, ‘When Love Takes Over’ featuring Kelly Rowland and ‘Sexy Bitch’ featuring Akon, became instant classics, topping charts worldwide and earning platinum certifications in multiple countries. These tracks, with their irresistible hooks and anthemic choruses, helped to popularize the fusion of house music with pop, paving the way for the EDM explosion that would dominate the 2010s.
Another standout track, ‘Memories’ featuring Kid Cudi, further demonstrated Guetta‘s ability to craft songs that resonate with a broad audience, blending introspective lyrics with an upbeat, danceable rhythm. The album also included the massive hit ‘Gettin’ Over You’, featuring Chris Willis, Fergie, and LMFAO, which became another anthem for the summer of 2010.
‘One More Love’ not only showcased Guetta‘s evolution as a producer but also his vision for the future of dance music. The album’s success was a precursor to the wave of EDM that would soon sweep across the globe, influencing countless artists and shaping the sound of popular music for years to come.
As we celebrate the 15th anniversary of ‘One More Love’, it’s clear that David Guetta‘s influence on the music industry is undeniable. This album stands as a landmark in the history of dance music, a collection of tracks that continue to be played, remixed, and celebrated by fans and DJs alike. Fifteen years later, ‘One More Love’ remains a testament to Guetta‘s legacy as a pioneer of the modern dance music movement.

A fragmented mind finds its glue in Shattered Reflections, the new EP from BERNZIKIAL.
Out now on Bear Grillz's Rude Service imprint, the five-track EP is a captivating sonic collage that blends the driving energy of dubstep and riddim with intricate, textured melodies. The Orlando-based producer masterfully weaves together these disparate elements, creating a listening experience that's both visceral and evocative.
He demonstrates a keen ear for sonic detail throughout, crafting intricate yet heavy-hitting tracks that reward close listening. Synths shimmer and glitch, percussion patterns interlock in hypnotic fashion, and the low end hits with a gut-punching force.
The titular track of Shattered Reflections sets the tone with a haunting intro, where a sample of a conversation between partners in a deteriorating relationship mirrors the tempestuous future bass sounds in the drop. Elsewhere in the EP, he produces dark Wave music in "Thinking of You," which feels like a sonic exploration of fragmented identity.
That search for meaning amid the chaos of modern life is key, according to BERNZIKIAL, who says he has struggled with suicidal thoughts.
"Mental health is a deeply personal and sensitive subject for me, as I'm sure it is for many others who have faced similar struggles," he tells EDM.com. "I've been in dark places and have tried to end it all multiple times, but I came to realize that I'm still here for a reason. That reason, for me, is to share my story through my art and to create meaningful, transformative experiences with my music and performances."
Shattered Reflections is out now to align with BERNZIKIAL's upcoming performance at Orlando's Tavern East, where he will headline a charity fundraiser for the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). All proceeds will benefit the organization's efforts to raise awareness of mental health issues.
"Although mental health is gaining more attention each year, I’ve noticed that in the music industry, it still doesn't get the consistent focus it deserves," he adds. "I believe it's not enough to just acknowledge it for a month—we need to keep these conversations going, especially in spaces where it's often overlooked. My goal is to contribute to that dialogue and encourage others to do the same."
BERNZIKIAL is set for a special 360° performance at the show, which is scheduled for Saturday, August 24th. You can purchase tickets here.

The International superstar James Hype has set the record straight on the growing trend of pre-recorded DJ sets at major festivals. Following his one-of-a-kind performance at EDC Orlando, James Hype responded to a Reddit thread here that questioned which DJs were genuinely performing live. Despite industry rumors and statements from fellow artists such as deadmau5 suggesting that pre-recorded sets are common at such events, James Hype made it clear that he has never—and will never—play a pre-recorded set.
James Hype’s commitment to live performance is a testament to his dedication to the craft. Known for his intricate transitions, eclectic mashups, and on-the-fly remixes, James Hype consistently pushes the boundaries of what it means to be a live DJ. His refusal to conform to the industry norm of pre-recorded sets is a bold statement in an era where authenticity in live performances is increasingly questioned. This commitment has earned him respect and admiration from fans and peers alike. As one Reddit user put it, “James Hype is a real one. He’s taking all the risks, doing difficult transitions live, showing you his mistakes, and testing out remixes he made traveling at live gigs. Much appreciation for this man’s hustle.”
In a past YouTube video posted by James Hype, he not only addresses the misinformation but also highlights his dedication to live DJing. He explains that he embraces the risk of performing live, including making real-time transitions and testing out new remixes in front of audiences.
This commitment is central to his identity as an artist and allows transparency in the industry not only for fans but aspiring artists as well. The video has resonated with his global audience, reinforcing James Hype’s reputation as a true performer who values the integrity of live mixing.
James Hype has played at some of the world’s biggest festivals, including Tomorrowland, Creamfields, and EDC, always delivering an experience for the masses like no other. His approach to DJing challenges the status quo and sets a high standard for other artists in the industry as James Hype shares: “A few months ago I started to notice a trend: Whenever a video of my DJing went viral, 50% of the comments were from people saying it was fake and that I was a fraud. There seems to be a narrative that all big DJs on big stages are playing pre-recorded sets and I want to break that. I’m trying to deliver a different show every single time and doing stuff that’s actually LIVE, unique, and RISKY is the only way I know how to perform. I saw a video where deadmau5 told his fans that EDC requires all artists to pre-record and it’s just not true, I’ve played all the biggest festivals on all the biggest stages! I think this narrative is damaging for the culture and the new DJs coming up.”
As the debate over pre-recorded sets continues, James Hype remains committed to delivering authentic, live performances that resonate with audiences and preserve the true essence of DJing which always leaves fans with the question of “Who Does This?”

Fans of dubstep and Transformers are finding an unlikely alliance after Excision's shocking reveal of his work for the franchise's newest film.
The dubstep superstar last weekend returned to the scenic Gorge Amphitheatre for another iteration of his beloved Bass Canyon festival. As you'd expect, the event featured performances from some of the biggest names in dubstep and bass music alongside a bevy of the world's most promising DJs and electronic producers.
Like usual, eye-popping clips have been circulating through social media following the fest, but none raised more eyebrows than Excision's teaser, which revealed his involvement with the sci-fi action film Transformers One.
During his headlining performance, Excision shared footage and audio of the upcoming movie set to his music. Naturally, rumors quickly ran rampant with regard to whether or not it was an official collaboration since the film's lead, Chris Hemsworth, shared the footage on his own socials.
"See you at Lost Lands brobot!" Excision said in a reply to the Thor star.
The rumors, however, were confirmed in short order by Excision, who today revealed his official involvement with the film, which also stars Scarlett Johansson, Jon Hamm and Laurence Fishburne. Excision has not yet disclosed the scope of his work at the time of this writing, but shared high-quality audio of the track featured in his performance.
"I've been a huge fan of Transformers since I was a kid, so I’m excited to be working with Transformers One and Paramount Pictures on this project," he writes. "More to come soon!"
Transformers One hits theaters on September 20th, 2024.

Kasablanca have struck a chord once again, this time fueling a '90s classic with new life as their explosive cover of The Prodigy’s "Breathe" hits streaming services.
What started as a spontaneous, fan-favorite live performance has now been immortalized, thanks in part to the blessing of The Prodigy themselves. First unveiled during their performance at 2023's Above & Beyond Group Therapy Weekender, Kasablanca's stunning reinvention of the band's generational anthem redefines it for a new era of dance music fans.
The original's grungy guitar riff, a frequently interpolated staple of The Prodigy’s sound, is transformed by Kasablanca into a searing, acid-infused bassline, tailor-made for today’s techno enthusiasts. The late Keith Flint’s timeless vocals still echo with their original ferocity, now interwoven with Kasablanca’s characteristically cinematic synth work.
Released on Anjunabeats, where the duo has become a fixture with their synthwave-infused sounds, "Breathe" follows a string of successful singles like "Terminal Feeling." Kasablanca’s cover stays true to the incendiary spirit of the original, amplifying its danceability while paying homage to its roots. The release is the fourth single from their eagerly anticipated debut album, Higher Resolution, which is set to drop in two parts. The first is arriving on October 4th.

Kaskade stuns in his new single, "Tears Don’t Fall," a collaboration with Enisa where the warm glow of nostalgia meets the thrill of the present.
Characterized by shimmering, melodically dense layers, the "Disarm You" hitmaker's latest production grounds ethereal melodies with a festival-ready groove that’s impossible to resist. Early on, Kaskade knew he had another hit on his hands, he said in a clip shared on his Instagram.

Fluttering, tremolo-style vocal chops spiral skyward, lifting the track to a place where time seems to pause and all that exists is the pure, exhilarating release of emotion. Underpinning those emotions is a powerful vocal performance from Enisa, who carries the tune with a sustained energy that’s both powerful and fragile.
She sings with a strength that feels unbreakable, yet her delivery of the hook, "Tears don't fall for anyone," reveals a vulnerability that lingers in the air like a half-forgotten dream. Together, their fusion of artistic visions results in a song that’s as emotionally charged as it is technically sound.

Subtronics and Seven Lions craft a haunting dubstep odyssey in their new single, "I'll Wait For You," a must-listen collaboration with Skylar Grey.
Subtronics debuted the track's instrumental in Las Vegas back on January 13th, 2023, the first date of his "ANTIFRACTAL" tour. Prior to today's release on Seven Lions' Ophelia Records, it quickly became one of the most coveted songs in both artists' arsenals of unreleased music.
Part lullaby, part personal apocalypse, "I'll Wait For You" finds Grey weaving a patchwork of human fragility. A powerful exploration of identity and absence, the renowned singer-songwriter's lyricism paints a vivid picture of someone adrift, navigating the raging waters of a mind drowning in disillusionment.
But beneath the layers of alienation and confusion, a stubborn flame of hope flickers. The refrain "I'll wait for you to come back" echoes through the track before Subtronics and Seven Lions go haywire with its buccaneering dubstep drop. Here, they beautifully mirror the agitation of Grey's vocals through anthemic, quaking production that should shake teeth fillings loose at festivals for years to come.

With his debut single, "Do You Hear Me Now," Ward Andrews proves that whispers can be louder than shouts on the dancefloor.
Emerging from the underground, the track pulses with an insistent energy that's tough to ignore. With a breathy, hushed vocal that burrows itself into your memory, the new progressive house track weaves a latticework of sound that's both fresh and evocative.
The titular phrase of "Do You Hear Me Now" isn't just a lyric—it's a mantra, repeating with a gossamer touch that belies its impact. As the track's spellbinding synths build and swirl, its feather-light vocals become a rhythmic anchor, tickling the senses like a phantom itch you can't scratch.
There's a haunting quality to Andrews' production, like hearing music drift from a neighbor's party on a warm summer night. It invites you closer, promising connection in a world of noise while mirroring the gradual realization that someone is truly being heard.
"'Do you hear me now' could also be stated as 'do you feel this energy we are creating now,'" Andrews explains. "Experiencing dance music takes the artist and the audience sharing the experience together and then sharing it with others. This track is about inviting people to experience this music together."

The European summer of 2024 has been a vibrant celebration of electronic music, with women dominating the dance floors and solidifying their place in the scene. As always, Ibiza stands as the epicenter of this excitement, and this year is no exception. The White Isle, known for its pulsating energy and iconic parties, has become the stage for some of the most promising and influential female DJs of the moment.
Carly Wilford is a name that deserves special recognition. The British DJ and producer has been making waves with her sets that blend house, techno, and bass music, creating a rich and immersive sonic experience. Beyond her technical skills, Carly is an active advocate for diversity in electronic music, using her platform to promote inclusion and support emerging artists. In Ibiza, her performances have been marked by an authentic connection with the audience, delivering sets that capture the vibrant and eclectic essence of the island. Carly’s ability to combine intense grooves with a unique sensitivity has secured her a place as one of the most promising DJs of 2024.
Another rising star is Mariah, formerly known as DJ Access Code. Mariah has made her mark in Ibiza with a style that blends deep house and tech-house, crafting sets that are both captivating and hypnotic. Known for her performances at iconic venues such as Ibiza Rocks and Ministry of Sound, Mariah has become a recognized name in the electronic music scene. Recently, EDMHouseNetwork had the opportunity to speak with Mariah, who, in addition to being a DJ, has been an influential voice in the electronic scene, particularly since her active participation on Clubhouse during the pandemic. On this platform, she built a community of over 500,000 followers, sharing musical knowledge and discussing the role of women in electronic music alongside figures like Paris Hilton, FINNEAS, and Marshmello.
In her interview with EDMHouseNetwork, Mariah was asked about her views on the rise of women in electronic music and which DJs we should be paying attention to in the coming months. Mariah highlighted several promising names, including:
Bruna Strait: A Brazilian DJ who performed at Rock in Rio, one of the world’s biggest festivals. Mariah praised her technical skill and the energy she brings to the stage. Naya: Another Brazilian talent, Naya recently made a name for herself in Ibiza with powerful sets filled with iconic vocals. Mariah shared the stage with her at Ministry of Sound and noted that Naya is “one of the most talented DJs” she has encountered, even stating that Naya is the first DJ who “mixes better” than she does. Juliet Thurbz: Resident DJ at Ibiza Rocks, Juliet surprised Mariah with her set, which she described as full of magic and energy, standing out in the local scene with her vibrant approach. Mariah also mentioned three DJs from her own crew in Ibiza who are poised to rise even further:
Lucy Jane: A well-known name in Ibiza, whom Mariah believes will ascend even higher in 2025. Zara Carr: A resident DJ at Itaca Ibiza, Zara impresses with live performances that are intense and engaging. Brooke Coldwell: A new rising star who has already performed at Ministry of Sound and is attracting attention with her impactful sets. Mariah added that she could name many more DJs who are making a difference, but for now, these are her main picks for the future of the scene.
In addition to these rising talents, it’s impossible to overlook established powerhouses like Deborah De Luca and Peggy Gou. Deborah De Luca continues to be a force of nature on the global stage, blending hard-hitting techno with melodic elements that captivate audiences worldwide. Her performances in Ibiza this summer have been nothing short of electrifying, solidifying her status as one of the most sought-after DJs in the industry.
Meanwhile, Peggy Gou, known for her distinctive sound that blends house, techno, and disco, has also been a standout figure this season. Her ability to seamlessly transition between genres while maintaining an infectious groove has made her sets some of the most anticipated events of the summer. Peggy’s influence extends beyond the DJ booth, as she continues to inspire and empower a new generation of female DJs around the world.
Beyond Carly Wilford, Mariah, Deborah De Luca, and Peggy Gou, the rise of female DJs in the Ibiza scene extends to other up-and-coming talents. Charlotte Plank, for instance, is steadily gaining recognition by combining organic sounds with electronic beats, creating a unique experience. Jazzy also stands out with her all-female party at Ibiza Rocks, blending pop and electronic music in a way that promises to be the anthem of the summer.
Among the rising duos, Jenn Getz & Alfie have been a breath of fresh air. With an impressive musical chemistry, they bring a contagious energy to the dance floors, blending house, techno, and grooves that keep the crowd engaged from start to finish. Their performances capture the essence of Ibiza—a fusion of celebration and introspection—and have been praised by both the audience and critics.
What truly stands out this summer is the emergence of lesser-known, yet equally talented, female DJs who are bringing new life to the scene. These fresh talents are essential in keeping the island’s energy alive and constantly evolving, offering new perspectives and sounds that are shaping the future of electronic music.
These DJs, among others, are breaking barriers and redefining the electronic scene in Ibiza, showing that the future of electronic music is undoubtedly female and diverse. While the big stars continue to captivate, it is the emergence of these new talents that truly makes 2024 a special season on the White Isle.
