Released 11 Years Ago: Axwell – Centre Of The Universe

Axwell is mostly known for his work together with Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso, under the legendary name of Swedish House Mafia, but his solo work never disappointed either. In 2013, the Swedish icon released one of his biggest hits and the first song post the Swedish House Mafia breakup, ‘Centre Of The Universe,’ a track which quickly became part of the beautiful image that progressive house holds in electronic music.
The emotional instrumental is a masterpiece created by the Swedish DJ, and the piano leads of this song just give goosebumps to those who appreciate every element of a well produced track. With this production, you can feel the passion and love that Axwell has for the job and that he puts in every piece of work he does. Besides an amazing instrumental, Magnus Carlson’s vocals took the song to a different level. The lyrics and the melody of this track is just something magical and can get stuck in the heads of many listeners.
‘Centre Of The Universe’ was premiered by British DJ, Pete Tong on his BBC Radio 1 show at the time and has received great love from the audience. This resulted in Pete also naming the track his ‘Essential New Tune,’ and Axwell receiving support from names like Zane Lowe and Danny Howard. The classic also got a remode from Axwell and was used as the intro to his iconic performance on Tomorrowland’s mainstage in 2013.
This song truly takes you on a musical journey which speaks about love. It is that kind of track that reminds people of their greatest memories created while listening to it.

Time Warp Special “Two Day | Two Celebrations” Edition October 25 & 26

Following an epic Mannheim showcase back in April, Time Warp is returning with more celebrations for their 30th anniversary later this year with their Two Day | Two Celebrations concept. On Friday (25th October), Sven Vath will celebrate his 60th birthday accompanied by &ME vs Rampa, Cassy, Charlotte de With b2b Enrico Sangiuliano and Nina Kraviz. Väth, who first performed at Time Warp in 1995 and has been an integral part of the family since its inception. Then, on Saturday (26th October) the party continues with the likes of Azyr, Funk Tribu, LOVEFOXY, Reinier Zonnerveld, Vintage Culture and many more.

Time Warp established itself in 1994 as one of the biggest techno spectacles in the world. The German edition of the festival is a hot-spot for thousands of party people every year. Since 2000, Mannheim has been the festival’s home base. For over two decades, Time Warp stands out globally because of its uncompromised production levels. But Mannheim is not only the ideal location for unique floor designs. The roster of techno artists also captures the underground spirit of the event. Titans of the genre return on a regular basis alongside up-and-coming artists. Time Warp has since grown from a local highlight to an international behemoth. De La Swing and George Privatti, residents of Elrow, will join them. De La Swing, whose eclectic style ranges from tech-house to deep techno, is well-known for his ability to keep the crowd in a state of pleasure. Meanwhile, George Privatti adds his knowledge and skill in combining captivating beats and enticing grooves to keep the dancefloor moving.
These creative artists will take the audience on a voyage through the fanciful environment of Delusionville, inspired by Ron English’s innovative POPaganda art movement. The bright and lively elrowcio is without a question one of the most anticipated themes among elrow aficionados.
On this colorful and extravagant occasion, the world’s most famous open-air entertainment experience will welcome the talented Frenchman Dombresky, who is recognized for his flamboyant house sets and ability to blend addictive songs that make the dancefloor erupt.
He will be joined by the flamboyant Spanish selector Wade, whose energy and charisma on stage, paired with his distinct tech-house sound, have swept clubs and festivals throughout the world by storm.
They will be joined by two of elrow’s most well-known artists: Bastian Bux, who is known for his infectious tech-house productions that envelop the audience in a pure party atmosphere, and Toni Varga, a veteran of the Spanish electronic scene known for his versatility and ability to keep the dancefloor in constant motion with dynamic sets. These DJs promise a memorable night of lively music and an energetic, creative atmosphere.
Wednesday, September 4: Dance with the Serpent by Nychos.
Dance with the Serpent, a mesmerizing excursion into the bizarre and metaphorical realms of the artist Nychos, will bring the heat to the Ushuaïa Ibiza dancefloor, as performers Cloonee, Ilario Alicante, N!DO, and Tini Gessler take over the renowned poolside stage.
Cloonee, a British DJ known for his infectious beats and tech-house creations, promises a lively and dynamic performance.
Ilario Alicante, an Italian DJ and producer known for his talent in techno music, will deliver his signature mesmerizing and aggressive style. N!DO, with his creative approach, and Tini Gessler, one of the most well-known musicians on the European tech-house scene, round out this powerful lineup.

CHKLZ blend past and present on ‘White Wine Spritzer’ remix

Emerging from the ashes of the now-defunct “Nedal” band Okilly Dokilly, is DJ/producer duo CHKLZ’s remix of “White Wine Spritzer.” Comprised of former Okilly Dokilly members, DJ iLL Choppo and LeMarshawn Jean, CHKLZ lean into a groovy brand of house on their version.
Okilly Dokilly, known for their unique ‘Nedal’ genre—a heavy metal style inspired by Ned Flanders from The Simpsons—gained a cult following since their inception in 2015. The band’s whimsical concept, which started as a joke among friends, turned into a serious musical endeavor, even catching the attention of The Simpsons ‘producers. Their track “White Wine Spritzer” was featured in the show’s episode “I’m Just a Girl Who Can’t Say D’oh.”
With the “White Wine Spritzer” remix, CHKLZ “captures and connects all the dots of our past, present, and future!,” says DJ iLL Choppo. This track marks CHKLZ’s first release of 2024, following 2023’s “Two Sexy” and “Rock You Like A Hurricane.”

Framework to bring Solomun to Los Angeles’ Exposition Park

One of the most respected names in all of dance music will make his anxiously awaited return to Los Angeles on June 1. Nearly a year after headlining Exposition Park in 2023, Solomun will now return for a six-hour extended DJ set filled with the underground’s most sought-after unreleased IDs.
The headlining show marks a 10-year partnership between Framework and Solomun, which includes notable performances at Sound Nightclub, Pershing Square, and Coachella Music Festival. Speaking on Framework, Solomun explained that “after all these years, they never tire, but are always on the lookout for exceptional venues to put on a world-class production.” Set to be a can’t miss show to kick-off the Summer, Julia Sandstorm and Nala will play support for the night while limited tickets can still be found here.

Subtronics, Nero, Deathpact and More to Perform at Lost Lands 2024: See the Full Lineup

With blatant disregard for necks everywhere, Excision has revealed the 2024 Lost Lands lineup.
The dubstep superstar is set to deliver three unique sets: a two-hour solo performance, a b2b with Wooli and a "Detox Set." He's joined on the lineup by Zeds Dead, Nero, Crankdat, Deathpact, TroyBoi, Jessica Audiffred, Flosstradamus, Rusko, Ganja White Night, ATLiens, Mija, Ray Volpe and many more.
This year's lineup also features a slew of young talents currently leading legions of hungry, contrarian bass music producers into the genre's bright future. That includes Tape B, ALLEYCVT, Hairitage, Infekt, Zingara, Xotix and EDM.com Class of 2024 artists Of The Trees and Levity.
Fanning the flames of the monster lineup are a number of drum & bass artists poised to bring their own energy to Lost Lands, of the nation's most beloved dubstep festivals. Heading to Legend Valley this year are Delta Heavy, Wilkinson, Justin Hawkes, Teddy Killerz and Pendulum's KJ Sawka, among others.

Sam Blacky confirms ‘Hot Steppa’ release and more, on-site at We Belong Here [Q&A]

Afro-house tastemaker Samantha Black, professionally known as Sam Blacky, has engineered a steepening upward trajectory since COVID released its chokehold on the music industry. In February 2021, Blacky officially launched her original artist catalog with “Too Late,” followed by crowd favorite “Body,” both released on her own record label, Stabby Records. Over time, the San Diego native earned notable co-signs from Repopulate Mars, Thrive Music, and Tom & Collins‘ Terms & Conditions, among other coveted dance labels. Arriving on the heels of Tristan Henry-assisted “Amor,” Blacky recently cemented one of her most triumphant works to date, “Ronaldinho.” Featuring Nigerian singer/songwriter Niniola, “Ronaldinho” is now streaming everywhere via Brooklyn-born record label Easier Said.
On May 26th, 2024, on Governors Island in New York City, Blacky played “Ronaldinho” live, for the first time, to an enthused mix of dance music fans during We Belong Here‘s Weekend 1 showcase. As the sun made its descent below the island, Blacky wielded a vibrant two-hour DJ set ahead of SIDEPIECE‘s headline appearance on Sunday evening. In addition to Blacky and SIDEPIECE, We Belong Here enlisted Rinzen, Le Youth, Aluna, and Tita Lau, among others, to tend decks over the course of Memorial Day Weekend.
Shortly after her sunset performance, Dancing Astronaut sat down with Sam Blacky to discuss new music, her artistic journey, and more. Read the exclusive Q&A below.

John Summit Reveals Most Anticipated Debut Album Comfort in Chaos

Our favorite Chicago-based producer, John Summit, has announced the official release date for his debut album. Earlier today, John revealed that Comfort in Chaos will be released on Friday, July 12th via Darkroom/Experts Only. We are excited about the beautiful tie-dye vinyl in his post below!

It seems that this might be the most anticipated album of 2024 for us fans. Summit shares that Comfort in Chaos is his most challenging work yet, created with his whole heart and soul. His social media posts have highlighted his musical and emotional growth. And the new music will explore a part of his identity that fans might not be familiar with. This album will touch on his Chicago house roots and also delve into garage, liquid, and dancefloor drum & bass.
The artwork for the album will feature artist Marcos Alvarado, a name Summit admires. Alvarado’s artwork will eschew traditional pop branding and delve into themes of consciousness, meditation, and spirituality, tying in with Summit’s hope to channel these themes into his songs.
The singles from Comfort in Chaos that you may already know are ‘Go Back’, ‘EAT THE BASS’, and ‘Shiver’. The new collaboration with Julia Church’s vocals and Sub Focus’ drum & bass, ‘Go Back’, has been a favorite since its release. Summit has had a busy year so far, with electrifying performances at Coachella and his Experts Only Weekender.Not to mention the winter pop-up event in Vail! Ibiza Rocks Owners Unveil New Venue, 528 Ibiza

The vibrant pulse of Ibiza’s nightlife is set to beat stronger with the launch of a new 6000-capacity venue, 528 Ibiza. This summer, the Ibiza Rocks Group, renowned for the iconic Pikes and Ibiza Rocks, is expanding its legacy. They are transforming the former site of The Zoo Project in Benimussa, San Antonio. Morphing it into a space to be the island’s new epicenter for Electronic music enthusiasts.

Set against a backdrop of scenic hills, 528 Ibiza offers elevated views of the island’s legendary golden sunsets. The venue boasts a unique layout with multiple indoor and outdoor spaces. All are designed to host a variety of events that capture the true essence of Ibiza.
Next, in the heart of 528 lies its three stages. The Garden and The Park can host a combined festival capacity of slightly over 6,000. The Garden Stage can accommodate 4,000 attendees, while The Park holds 2,500. A more intimate setting can be found at the indoor Teatro, which has a standing capacity of approximately 1,000.
Last but not least, 528 Ibiza’s programming includes a series of shows by Brunch Elektronik. With other performances from Adriatique, Pole Position, and Khenya. Additionally, a BBC Radio 1 takeover on August 2 will bring the likes of Armand Van Helden, CamelPhat, and LF System to the stage.

Eric Prydz Closes BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend With Uncountable IDs

In a truly marvelous display of music, Swedish DJ Eric Prydz delivered a great set for Day 1 of BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend 2024. Also known for his Techno and Trance aliases Cirez D and Pryda, the DJ debuted lots of new music, ahead of his upcoming HOLO show debuts in Argentina and Colombia.

BBC Radio 1 brought out yet a brand new stage for this year’s Big Weekend. Many incredible artists brought their A-game, including Hanna Laing, Diplo, and Sonny Fodera. Of course, the Mouseville Records founder had the honor to close out their new music stage on their annual live show. The set consists of Prydz’s signature sounds, including his unique progressive rhythms and euphoric synths. However, lots of the melodies have been unheard of. We are thrilled to experience new Prydz music, especially building up to his HOLO show premiers in South America later this fall.

Listen to Disclosure's Sun-Kissed House Track, "She's Gone, Dance On"

Following a string of viral moments, Disclosure's summery single 'She's Gone, Dance On" has finally hit streaming platforms.
The sun-kissed house track, which samples a 1978 song by the late Italian composer Ennio Morricone, first broke online when Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce were spotted dancing to it during Dom Dolla's set at Coachella.
"She’s Gone, Dance On" is an irresistible summertime hit. Disclosure expertly interpolate the infectious sample throughout the dancefloor-ready track, spicing up its production with their anthemic ambiances and bright synth chords.
A tune "just made for clubs and DJs" according to Disclosure, "She’s Gone, Dance On" marks the brotherly duo's first single since their fourth studio album Alchemy. That record dropped last year before one of its singles, the breakbeat gem "Higher Than Ever Before," nabbed a nomination for the Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronic Recording.

GorillaT on His Sudden Life Pivot and What it Takes to Create a Brand from Scratch

From being a college athlete to producing his own music, GorillaT made lots of noise—literally—in the dubstep scene in 2023. The 22-year-old artist, whose real name is Tate Warner, started making electronic music just about three years ago and now finds himself performing on headlining tours, festival lineups and popular stages like Excision's "The Thunderdome."
For many in the electronic dance music community—or any community for that matter—there is often a show, moment or song that sparks a deeper passion for it. Warner found this to be true when he went to a Subtronics show around three years ago. GorillaT tells EDM.com that his origin story goes like this: "I went to that Subtronics concert, my friends kind of dragged me there, I remember not really wanting to be there too bad, and then the next day I went home and sold my PS4 and like, half of my belongings so that I could buy Ableton."
After downloading the music production software, the next step was figuring out his sound and means of promotion. Discussing his initial sound, Warner highlights that because Subtronics was his first show, he spent a long time trying to emulate his music.
"When an artist finds an artist that just changes their lives like that, you spend the next year or two trying to make songs exactly like them," he explains. "A lot of my early songs around those times were more me trying to figure out how to make full songs in the style that I wanted."
This imitation game didn't last for long, though. "I understand production now to a level where I give online classes, one-on-ones, I mix down people's songs, I have a Patreon," says Warner, who now describes his sound first and foremost as "wonky," the word appearing in the titles of multiple songs. "Once I figured out what style I liked I could just do it by myself in terms of my own sound design and the way that I like melodies to kind of sit together."
Despite his success, Warner didn’t always want to be a musician. In fact, he has been a student athlete at Loyola University of New Orleans for the past four years and just recently dropped out to pursue his music career. Now, the only thing that lives on from his past swimming dreams are "a few state records," he says.
Growing up in the sublime city of Golden, Colorado, a city near Denver and the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre, the swimmer-turned-musician was given access to a lively EDM scene that would ultimately cultivate a foundation for the dubstep music he wanted to create. "It’s been in the culture of where I’m from," says Warner, whose experiences at shows by SVDDEN DEATH, Wooli, Virtual Riot and Infekt would eventually influence his own future sound.
About halfway into this three-year journey is when Warner found his music garnering more listeners, recognition and fans. His first single "Stoned Ape Theory" was released just about two years ago in 2022, and after releasing 17 other singles on streaming platforms, his first full album came out in late 2023, marrying many of those tracks under one name: Tales Of A Stoned Ape. GorillaT had his first-ever headline show in July in Minneapolis and in 2023 alone has performed at Forbidden Kingdom, Apocalypse and Lost Lands.

So how does someone make this much wonky noise in the span of just a few years? We all have an inkling of the answer to this question: social media. Warner attributes much of his success to the various platforms that fall under the umbrella term.
"I just don’t see a better way to promote myself as an artist," he says. “To do what a record label would’ve done for $10,000 I can just get on my phone and spend a few days posting videos."
With this strategy, Warner finds himself quickly gaining velocity in the industry. "The people that truly understand that are the people that are going to have a way easier time breaking into this," he says.
Warner values social media not only as a marketing tool, but also as a way to show transparency and gratitude to fans, collaborators and the venues who book him.
"These people make a living for me!" says Warner. "I wouldn’t be able to do this without all the fans."
As a result, he finds that he is easily approachable at shows when he ventures into the crowd. He also finds that a perfect concoction of social connection with fans and being a perceptive DJ results in an explosion of positive feedback.
"I feel like half the reason they come out to these shows is because they want to see you onstage—of course they love your music. The baseline of all of this is perfecting your craft, and from there you can use social media to do whatever you want really.”
To supplement people seeing him onstage, Warner tries to read each room thoroughly so the crowd likes what they hear. "It seems like every place I go, they vibe with just slightly different things that I’m dropping and that’s why it’s good to be a good DJ and be able to switch stuff up.”

With the new attention his music and DJing is receiving comes new collaborations and knowledge. Warner says that these collaborations aided in the creation and evolution of GorillaT’s sound and brand. “It’s so awesome to collab with people because I always learn so much about their work flow and what works for them,” he says.
Upcoming collaborations Warner hints at include work with ProbCause, Hostage Situation, Ahee and Steller. New visuals and merchandise are also in the works that feel happy, trippy and welcoming, he says.
With a growing platform, though, comes growing scrutiny and a greater chance for burnout. Warner highlights that a career contingent on a computer and internet can easily blur the line between work and play.
"It always feels like play until there are deadlines,” Warner says with a laugh while stressing the importance of self-care. "I’m able to make the best music when everything surrounding the music is on the right path."
It looks to Warner like this momentum is not going to slow anytime soon—and it also hasn't quite sunk in. "I don’t think I believe it yet," he says in disbelief. "I don’t think it’ll ever change, that aspect of how grateful I feel for all of this."

Live Nation Hit With $5 Billion Consumer Class Action Lawsuit

Live Nation and Ticketmaster now face a $5 billion consumer class action lawsuit following the recent DOJ antitrust case. Filed May 23 in Manhattan Federal Court, the lawsuit seeks damages for millions of ticket buyers. The filing accuses Live Nation and Ticketmaster of monopolizing the live events industry by driving out rivals and pressuring venues that work with Ticketmaster competitors. This mirrors the DOJ’s allegations in its recent filing aimed at breaking up the two companies.
“Over the past three decades, Live Nation and Ticketmaster collectively built empires in several key markets within the live concert and event economy,” the lawsuit claims. It states the merger led the entity to dominate US concert promotion, primary ticketing, and secondary ticketing markets.
On Friday, the court assigned the case to US District Judge Arun Subramanian, who has a background in antitrust lawsuits. Attorneys at Israel David and Robbins Geller Rudman & Dowd represent the plaintiffs in the class action.
Live Nation has dismissed the DOJ’s lawsuit as “baseless,” arguing that the live events market is more competitive than ever. Legal experts note Live Nation’s defense may hinge on the DOJ’s prior approval of its Ticketmaster acquisition. The DOJ’s new case differs from 2010 by focusing on more expansive anti-competitive conduct by Live Nation. The government argues Live Nation’s failure to follow original merger guidelines warrants the current legal actions.
As the legal battles unfold, the pressure on Live Nation and Ticketmaster is likely to intensify, potentially reshaping the live events and ticketing landscape.

The titular track features London-based singer-songwriter Paige Cavell while the single "Nothing Ever Changes" is buttressed by the velvety vocals of MAGNUS. Vintage Culture's production also stuns in "Pleasure Chasers," an indie-tinged anthem featuring NoMBe.

‘Vendetta’ pulsates with lively house rhythms intertwined with mainstream techno beats, drawing inspiration from artists like Odd Mob. Infused with sharp stabs reminiscent of Busterkun’s recent single, ‘Blasé,’ the track maintains its distinct energy and inventive twists.
The track wastes no time getting into the action. A huge bass groove moves our bodies before a female vocalist takes over the track. Before we know it we are thrown into the electric drop filled with ear candy galore.
There are unique stabs and touches throughout keeping the record interesting. I am a huge fan of the bridge/2nd build. It is super tension-filled and makes ‘Vendetta’ stand out from the pack. This part would go off live for sure. I can already imagine the club rocking to it.
This experimental fusion has resulted in an electrifying collaboration carrying a message of resilience and ambition. Busterkun had this to say:

Kayzo and Scarlxrd See the World Through Broken Glass in Searing Single, "Eyes Wide Xpen"

Kayzo and Scarlxrd's new single, "Eyes Wide Xpen," isn't comfortable—it's a furious excavation of the buried truths we choose to ignore.
A punishing blend of metal, hip-hop and trap music, the track rips open like a ruptured artery, Kayzo's bass a barbed-wire riff twisting through Scarlxrd's snarling verses. The latter's lyrics are jagged hooks, each syllable laced with a bitter truth about society's decay.
Simultaneously invigorating and unsettling, Scarlxrd's claustrophobic verses offer a beautifully abrasive exploration of the human condition's darker recesses. To that end, the song is a primal scream that demands to be heard amidst the noise of the modern world, a hellscape of technological alienation and emotional desolation.
Kayzo crafts a melody akin to a rusted razor scraping against bone, a brutal counterpoint to the hollowness exposed by Scarlxrd's tormented vocals. It's clear that the beloved producer, who recently tore up EDC Las Vegas alongside a live band, remains fascinated by nu-metal's potential to push dance music to its most manic levels.

This Techno DJ Refused to Unplug His Equipment for Nicole Moudaber at Movement

It seems like the rain wasn’t the only thing that affected Lebanese/British Techno Queen Nicole Moudaber. Monday Afternoon, Nicole took it out on the social platform X (formerly Twitter) to express her mistreatment while trying to set up for her set as Movement Music Festival announced the gates would reopen. Fans were concerned that the main stage remained silent for an hour before Richie Hawtin started his set, debuting his new DEX EFX X0X project.
Set-Up
In her post, Moudaber explains how after being called back to play her set as the weather cleared out, the DJ meant to close out the night (Richie Hawtin) refused to unplug his equipment so she could play. Thus, the stage stood silent for an hour until Richie Hawtin performed his set and closed out the night. There has been no public response from Movement officials nor Richie Hawtin’s team. We are not sure if it was a miscommunication or flat-out disrespect. Nevertheless, Nicole closed out the weekend celebrating 10 years of her In The Mood radio. With support from Devon James and Techno Titan Chris Liebing, Techno reigned supreme in the city of Detroit.

John Summit Has Words for Fan Calling Him the “Next Avicii”

Recently on TikTok, an account by the name of “@I don’t snort percs” made a comment to John Summit, calling him the “next Avicii“. This person’s comment was:
John Summit then made a TikTok clip of his own (see below) and stated his displeasure towards the comparisons. The house music star, whose hit tracks include, ‘Where You Are’, ‘La Danza’, and ‘Shiver’, said that the comparisons were “extremely disrespectful” and the late, legendary Swedish icon of dance/electronic music was an inspiration for him.
John Summit then added that the only way to honor Avicii’s legacy was to “not make the same mistakes”. At the end of the clip, John Summit then affirmed his love for entertaining the fans and music making. Avicii and John Summit are two incredible electronic music professionals who have their own unique and phenomenal way to connect with their fans through their unforgettable tracks.

Time Warp’s Two Days | Two Celebrations: full lineup revealed for unmissable return to Mannheim

After its grand anniversary celebration, Time Warp is back at Maimarkt Mannheim on October 25 and 26, 2024 for a significant birthday celebration as techno legend Sven Väth turns 60. 
The “compact” edition of Time Warp began in 2021 due to the pandemic and was so well-received that it has become an annual fall tradition. This year, Two Days Two Stages transforms into Two Days Two Celebrations, celebrating 30 years of Time Warp and 60 years of Sven Väth.
On Friday, Sven’s birthday will be celebrated with a stage in the Maimarkthalle, and on Saturday, the second part of the 30-year celebration will take place with the usual two stages in the Maimarkthalle and -club. A diverse lineup of long-time Time Warp heroes and newcomers has been curated to mark the special occasion. 
Sven Väth, who first performed at Time Warp in 1995 and has been an integral part of the family since, will be performing, while Nina Kraviz will join in the celebrations, along with Keinemusik members &ME and Rampa. A back-to-back set from Charlotte de Witte and Enrico Sangiuliano is also expected to be a fan highlight.
On Saturday, techno and house music heavyweights like Adam Beyer, Indira Paganotto, Reinier Zonneveld, and Vintage Culture will perform. New talents such as Alignment, Cera Khin, Miss Monique, and Nico Moreno will make their Time Warp debut.
Fans can look forward to another stellar edition in this jubilee year. The April Time Warp drew 30,000 visitors from around the world to celebrate with over 70 artists for nearly 30 hours. A successful edition followed in Sao Paulo. This fall, alongside Mannheim, Time Warp will debut in Madrid and hold its seventh edition in New York.
