The future is blindingly bright for Chicago's North Coast Music Festival, which took over the Windy City for a Labor Day Weekend that ravers soon forget.
As the last vestiges of Chi-town's summer began to fade, we were on the ground at this year's event, which brought the highest attendance numbers in the history of the festival. 90,000 attendees dance the days and nights away across three days at SeatGeek Stadium as well as North Coast's full-field practice dome and various fields in-between.
The grounds turned into a sprawling oasis of electronic beats and trippy visuals, an adult playground for the adventurous spirit. And there wasn't a blind spot—practically anywhere you went, bass boomed like the roar of Lake Michigan during a storm.
Seven stages with lasers for days featured performances from Subtronics, Above & Beyond, ILLENIUM, Seven Lions and many more, not to mention b2b sets from the likes of ISOKNOCK (ISOxo and Knock2), LSZEE (LSDDREAM and CloZee), Tchami and Malaa (No Redemption) and Dabin and Said The Sky (Dab The Sky).
Organizers are already planning to level up in 2025 and fans can sign up for the pre-sale waitlist here. In the meantime, check out a list of five things you missed this year below.

The world of Dragon Ball is no stranger to epic collaborations, but this one hits on a whole new level. Grammy Award-winning DJ and producer Zedd has composed the opening theme for the highly anticipated TV anime Dragon Ball Daima, bringing his signature sound to the beloved franchise. Fans got a sneak peek at his work through the anime’s recently released main trailer, which features the electrifying track ‘Jaka Jaan’ by Zedd feat. C&K.
A Dream Realized for Zedd
For Zedd, working on Dragon Ball Daima is more than just a project—it’s a lifelong dream come true. The producer expressed his excitement on Instagram, saying, “It’s a dream come true to share that I had the privilege to compose the opening theme song ‘Jaka Jaan’ for Dragon Ball DAIMA!!! It’s really a full circle moment for me and an absolute honor being able to write for a show that had such a massive influence on me since a young age!”
Having been a fan of Dragon Ball since childhood, this collaboration was deeply personal for Zedd. He wrapped up his message by thanking the anime team. In the process, showing immense gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to a series that shaped his youth.
A Powerhouse Team
The track ‘Jaka Jaan’ is not just a one-man effort. The song also features the talents of singer-songwriter unit C&K, who contributed both to the composition and the performance. C&K’s involvement came at Zedd’s request, adding an extra layer of dynamism to the piece. Furthermore, the song’s lyrics were penned by Yukinojo Mori. He is the legendary lyricist behind iconic Dragon Ball songs like ‘CHA-LA HEAD-CHA-LA’ from Dragon Ball Z. He also wrote ‘Genkai Toopa X Survivor’ from Dragon Ball Super.
This marks a blend of new and nostalgic elements, with Zedd bringing a fresh electronic twist to Mori’s signature anime lyricism. The collaboration is a perfect fusion of past and present, bridging decades of Dragon Ball history.
Zedd’s Return to Music
What makes this announcement even more exciting is the fact that Zedd’s contribution to Dragon Ball Daima coincides with the release of his first album in nine years. The album named, ‘Telos‘, dropped on August 30th. Fans have eagerly awaited his return, and now, with his influence extending to the anime world, it seems Zedd is making up for lost time in the best way possible.
With ‘Jaka Jaan’, Zedd reintroduces himself as a musical powerhouse. Moreover, he also taps into the hearts of millions of anime fans worldwide. Dragon Ball Daima is sure to be a major highlight. Not just for its plot but for this captivating new theme song.

Kode PinK, comprised of pediatrician Kenan Nadar and IT specialist Calvin Htet, brings fresh energy to dance music by blending pop’s playfulness with electronic music’s drive. Hailing from Central Florida and Northern California, this DJ/Producer duo embodies their motto “no dream too big,” inspiring fans to pursue their passions regardless of unconventional backgrounds. The unlikely duo’s latest single “How The Great Have Fallen,” featuring singer/songwriter bnji, offers a witty take on post-breakup emotions. This satirical anthem explores the disillusionment that follows when someone once admired falls from their pedestal. The opening line, “I shoulda knew Cupid had to go and give ya someone new. Just thought that he’d have better aim,” sets a tone of sardonic disappointment, highlighting the complex coping mechanisms often employed after heartbreak. “How The Great Have Fallen” examines projection and defense mechanisms common in post-breakup trauma cycles. While Kode PinK doesn’t endorse wishing misfortune on others, they recognize it as a relatable human experience worth exploring and their distinctive pop approach serves as an engaging backdrop for this narrative.

Australian multi-platinum artist CYRIL continues his musical journey with the release of “To The World” EP, a follow-up to his August EP “From Down Under.” Born and raised in rural Australia and now based in Darwin, CYRIL is more than just a producer and DJ. He’s a multi-instrumentalist skilled in guitar, piano, and drums, whose journey from teenager to adult was marked by challenges. His background infuses his music with authenticity and emotional depth, contributing to the widespread appeal of tracks like “Stumblin’ In” and his remix of Grammy-nominated Disturbed’s “The Sound of Silence.” His latest EP features six tracks that further establish his distinctive style, blending bluegrass and country sounds with organic electronic production and emotive vocals. A woman is recovering from a fractured spine and rib after falling off a structure at the 2024 edition of Burning Man.
Rachael Gingery on Saturday fell roughly 20 feet from an art installation resembling a sinking ship, which was, along with a 100-foot serpent, part of a display called "Naga & The Captainess."
In a post shared to Facebook, she says she climbed a ladder into the structure's crow's nest before attempting to slide across a tilted pole, around which attendees could wrap their legs. However, the weight of her backpack and coat inverted her body to the underside of the pole, forcing her to flip and ultimately lose her grip.
The next thing Gingery remembers, she said, was "waking up on the ground surrounded by medics and unable to move."
View the original article to see embedded media.
"I was told that I was convulsing immediately after impact and looping my thoughts before returning to consciousness after a few minutes," Gingery wrote, adding that she doesn't blame the structure's developers. "I remember laying on the ground feeling shocks of pain course through my body and being unable to move as I was loaded into an ambulance."
From there, Gingery says she spent over 16 hours in triage in a medical tent on the playa before an ambulance transported her to the trauma unit of a Reno-area hospital. Doctors there treated her for contusions of her lung and spleen as well as the fractured spine and rib.
Gingery called the ordeal "one of the scariest experiences" of her life but remains in good spirits, referring to her outing in Black Rock City as her "best burn yet." She says she's expected to heal within the next six to eight weeks.
This year's Burning Man took place from August 25th to September 2nd.

A woman unfortunately fell from a tall climbable Burning Man art. Rachael Gingery fell from an art piece resembling a sinking ship. Just before 6 a.m. on Saturday, Gingery climbed the wooden planks suspended on steel cables to the installation’s tilting crow’s nest, which sat atop a slanting pole that festival attendees could slide down. She fell about 20 feet. Luckily, she seems to be doing fine and will make a full recovery.
After losing her grip on the pole and falling, Gingery was transported by ambulance to Burning Man’s clinic, Rampart. There, staff performed x-rays and ultrasounds. After the clinic visit, advanced imaging was deemed necessary, so Gingery was then transported by ambulance to Reno. There, CT scans determined that she fractured her spine and a rib, and sustained bruises to a few internal organs. Rachael had this to say:
The art piece, called Naga & the Captainess, is one of the prized sculptures at this year’s event. Located in deep playa, it features not only the sinking parts of a ship but also a sea serpent and interactive treasure chests, cargo crates, and wine barrels. It is estimated that between 30 and 40 Burners require medical transports every year.
This year’s exodus was damped by a major dust storm.

Duo unveils their third single, exploring the human journey and universal connection with insane videos made for the stage.
The duo BIGGER THAN US has released their latest single, titled “We’re Not Alone.” This track adds to a project that has developed organically, driven by a creative force that the artists themselves describe as something bigger than them.
“We’re Not Alone” marks the third release by BIGGER THAN US a collaboration between Marieme and Stephan Jacobs AKA BOSA that explores themes of human vulnerability and personal evolution. The song, originally composed by Marieme, came to life with BOSA’s contribution, bringing new layers of sound and experimentation to the composition.

The single “We’re Not Alone” is described by the artists as a sonic and emotional journey. The track blends intense soundscapes with an energy that aims for both introspection and empowerment. The central message of the song is that, despite the uncertainties and fears everyone faces, no one is alone in their experiences and feelings.
The origin of the BIGGER THAN US project, as reported by the members, was unintentional. BOSA and Marieme began working together without a defined plan, allowing the creative process to guide them. This intuitive approach is reflected in “We’re Not Alone,” where Marieme, who wrote and recorded the track some time ago, finally found the right sound through collaboration with BOSA.

From a technical perspective, BOSAs production incorporates a blend of digital and analog tools. The song features harmonies synthesized with the vocals, resampling with RMX-1000 and Kaoss Pad KP3, as well as bass sampling with Sub37, creating an atmosphere that evokes influences from Radiohead, Pink Floyd, Daft Punk, and Eskmo. The combination of these elements results in a sound that is both familiar and innovative.
“We’re Not Alone” is not just a song but a reflection on the human condition. Marieme shares that the composition emerged during a period of questioning the meaning of life and the fear of the unknown. The lyrics address fear and the need for evolution, offering a message of connection and solidarity.
BIGGER THAN US continues to explore new musical directions, with plans to release more music in the near future, including an upcoming single and the much-anticipated debut EP. “We’re Not Alone” is now available on major streaming platforms, and the duo invites everyone to connect with the song’s message and feel the power of unity through art.

Closing this summer with a bang, Faithless just released their latest single ‘I’m Not Alone (Rest Well Maxwell)’. The timing couldn’t be more perfect as they gear up to celebrate the 26th anniversary of their iconic track ‘God Is A DJ’ and prepare for a full-live UK tour later this year. With reviews pouring in from their recent headline show at Glastonbury and a stunning new live set-up wowing audiences on their sold-out UK/EU tour, Faithless is proving that they are still at the top of their game after eight years.
The new single, ‘I’m Not Alone (Rest Well Maxwell)’, is a heartfelt tribute to the greats who have passed, including their longtime collaborator LSK. Known for their ability to blend melancholic and euphoric elements seamlessly, Faithless delivers a track that is both beautiful and bumping, evoking a range of emotions from listeners. With dance floor mixes on the horizon, this track is sure to have fans dancing the night away.
‘I’m Not Alone (Rest Well Maxwell)’ is built around the words of long-time collaborator LSK: a peon to some of the greats who have passed (including, of course, Maxi Jazz himself). Faithless are OG’s when it comes to delivering a melancholic/euphoric sweet spot in the rave, so it’ll be a surprise to no one they have conjured an absolute masterclass in beautiful, bumping, emotive House. To be followed by dance floor mixes the track will have you dancing, crying and holding your best friends near.
‘I’m Not Alone’ arrives ahead of their upcoming UK tour in Autumn which includes an unmissable Brixton homecoming date on the 14th of November. Tickets for their dates earlier in the year evaporated in minutes, so sleep on these ones at your peril.
It’s been almost three decades since Faithless made their debut, and in that span time the iconic UK act has made an unparalleled impact on the Dance music landscape. One of the most influential electronic acts of the 21st century,  they’ve sold over 20 million albums including seventeen Top 40 singles, six Top 10 albums (three at #1), and amassed over a billion combined streams to date.

Today, music’s most explosive it-girl Sara Landry (with a fanbase of over 1 million followers on Instagram alone) unveils news about her highly-anticipated debut album Spiritual Driveby. Hot on the heels of her history-making Tomorrowland performance and a massive LA takeover, which included TWO sold-out Factory 93 nights and a pop-up tarot / merch experience. The latter took place at LA’s beloved metaphysical destination House of Intuition. The dynamite prepares to shatter boundaries once again. She will be revealing a genre-bending anthology that blurs the lines between the underground and the avant-garde.
‘Spiritual Driveby’
Her debut is set to drop on October 4 (via her imprint HEKATE). Spiritual Driveby is a collaborative offering that demonstrates Landry’s artistic duality, versatility and intuitive depth. The 12-track opus is a thunderous testament to the power of collective energy. One, which unfolds as a visceral odyssey meant to feel both intensely personal and universally shared. The album represents a ceremonial space where the sacred interplay of collaboration is as integral to the music as the sounds themselves. Each track was produced alongside Landry’s friends and industry counterparts.
“This sonic offering was motivated and inspired by the notion that none of us are alone because we are all energetically linked“, says Landry. “Everything we do is interwoven and collaborative, whether we realize it or not“.
Artists joining Landry for her debut include Legendary producer Mike Dean, Electronic titans Nico Moreno, Shlømo, Aaron Hibell and more. And even her personal hypnotist – Restorative Hypnosis – whose mesmerizing vocals can be heard on the album’s prelude.
The Sensation
A sonic alchemist transforming Hard Techno sounds into transcendent experiences, Landry is an irrefutable force. In effect, she captivates global obsession and overhauls the scene through her dark, deliberate and divinely feminine lens. Catapulted from the underground to phenomenon status in 2023 following her viral Boiler Room set – the 3rd highest streamed segment to date with  6.3 million views, followed by Charli XCX at 5.8 Mil – Landry has earned critical acclaim. She is a provocateur at the helm of a global movement, pushing what has long been subversive into popular culture.
Harnessing a brazenly unapologetic brand of artistry, Sara Landry is one of THE most in-demand names in music today. Her cult-like following sells out stages around the world with unprecedented fervor.
In recent years, Hard Techno has seen a notable surge, attracting a young, highly engaged audience. Why? Well, they are driven by a post-pandemic thirst for cathartic release and the digital age of discovery. Landry, who boasts over 6.9 Mil likes on the platform, is the undeniable catalyst leading this revolution. The producer has popularized and established the cultural relevance for high BPMs with unbridled authenticity.
She strips away preconceived notions of the genre through experiences that are equal parts immersive and spiritual. Moreover, Landry possesses the playful ability to connect with audiences, opening a captivating portal for sonic exploration. Thus, it ushers in a new generation of fans and elevates the category in an approachable way.
Now that summer is over we can start getting spooky for the fall. And what a perfect way to enter October, with Spiritual Driveby around the corner. Thus, We will be definitely turning into our divine feminine then.
