Hear ye, hear ye! The boys are back!
After quietly slipping off into a 4-year hiatus, deeply adored scene favourites – Brookes Brothers – return with new track ‘Enemies’: a signature sounding track for the pair with a lick of 2024 energy.
From their first release back in 2006 to ‘Make No Sound’ in 2020, the brothers have been churning out feel-good D&B bangers for the entire duration of their career. Welcoming them back with open arms, their return to the scene is a familiarity that feels like home for many, and a total breath of fresh air for a new generation of ravers.
The brothers are back, and they’re doing what they do best. Entering the chat after 4 years: Dan and Phil AKA, Brookes Brothers!
Guys – welcome back to the party. How’s your week been so far?
Dan: Good, thank you! This week we’ve been doing promo for our new track ‘Enemies’, getting everything ticked off and ready for the release. Looking at acoustic mixes, stuff like that. It’s been a while since we’ve released anything so just getting back into the swing of things.
Phil: It’s really exciting to be coming back!
Exciting times, indeed. Why now for the re-emergence?
Dan: We just missed making music together, we missed drum & bass. It’s been a little while, it was just calling us. So, we made our own way back into making drum & bass again.
Phil: We’ve both been making music since our last release, working on different projects. We took a bit of a break from making D&B so it’s exciting to come back and explore D&B again! So much has happened since we’ve been away, drum & bass is in a really interesting and amazing place right now, so it’s fun to get back to the drawing board again. Experiment with different sounds, different styles, see what we can come up with when we put our heads together.
What’s it like coming back into a scene that has changed so drastically in that time you’ve been away?
Dan: D&B right now is kind of where we were hoping it would get to for such a long time. The whole thing has massively opened up now. A few years ago, it was very club-oriented, which meant for a producer, you needed your tunes to pop in the club. That’s less of a thing now. You can write whatever you want because so much fits under the D&B umbrella now. It gives a lot more opportunity to explore stuff as a producer and make different types of tunes.
Phil: It’s funny because I don’t think the sound of D&B has changed since we started making tunes. It’s changed a bit – of course – there are different subgenres now, but at its core, it’s quite similar to what it was when we first got into D&B. It’s about energy. It’s great to see people doing different styles, different things, but I wouldn’t say anyone has reinvented the wheel. Either way, it’s great to see it in such a good position.
Let’s talk about ‘Enemies’! Tell us the whole story.
There was an original vocal by a band called Shade, who are based in Canada. We wrote the original song with them, but it turned out they left their label and there were some complications with clearing the vocal. So, the track was sat around on demo for quite a while. UKF hit us up and said they were really keen to release it so we brushed it up and started to get things rolling again with some new music.
Amazing. Any other releases or an album incoming that we can look forward to?
Phil: No album but we do have a few other releases incoming. We’re just trying to figure out what comes next! We’re still writing too, getting some ideas together, vibing in the studio, even though I’m not in the country at the moment. We work remotely.
Ah, you’re working remotely! After years of working side by side, how are you finding a remote setup?
Dan: It’s different to how we used to work, but it’s all good. We used to live together for a long time. When we first started writing, we both lived at our parents house. We were making tunes in the attic for years. Our mum just thought we were up there smoking but we were making music! Eventually she realised we were doing something productive. That’s where we wrote all of our early songs. We then moved into a flat where we lived together for about 6 years, which is where we finished the first album and wrote the second album. Back then, at the start, we always worked together. I think we had a system where we’d do 15 minutes each…
Phil: Yeah, if someone was a bit puffed out, the other person would jump in. We both had our own setups in our own bedrooms too so when we weren’t writing together, we’d be writing separately in the studio. That’s how the first album came together, both of us writing ideas and then bringing them together.
How does that process compare to the process you have now? Does it help or hinder your creativity working separately?
Phil: I wouldn’t say it’s changed that much to be honest. We’re just a couple of guys vibing on some tunes, really… and then banging our heads together to try and finish them!
Dan: We start ideas independently, then we jointly decide which ones to run with and which ones we want to choose.
How do you manage to stay aligned creatively as a duo, as well as maintaining a relationship as brothers? Have the two things sort of merged into one at this point?
Phil: They have sort of merged into one now! There have been some breaks over the years, arguing over little details, but generally, we do agree on most things. It’s a pretty peaceful process.
Dan: Musically, we have very similar tastes, so that has always helped. If one of us is into an idea, normally the other one is really into it too. We don’t tend to clash too much on the music side of things. Did you ever consider it risky business, venturing into music as a duo, but also as brothers?
Phil: There was no thought around if it could be an issue or not. Music has always connected us as kids. We’ve always been so close, and best friends as well as brothers. Music was such a unifying thing for us, it was natural to start making it together and I wouldn’t want to do it with anyone else
Dan: We never thought twice about it. We were young and just having fun. That’s what music was to us, it was really an enjoyment and getting stuck into something that was really rewarding. We got so much out of it at the start. We didn’t know what we were doing. We didn’t do any courses or anything!
Phil: No YouTube tutorials. We didn’t know anyone else that made music either. Literally nobody. Nowadays, every kid sort of knows someone that is playing around on Fruity Loops or GarageBand. We didn’t know the first thing about making music.
Dan: We didn’t know what any of our plugins did! The guy that built our computer for us, he built in some different bits and bobs and we really didn’t understand how any of it works. We were just using our ears to make it sound good. We didn’t know what a compressor did for at least 2 years.
You can take more risks with someone by your side, and how amazing that you’re not venturing back down this path together once again, in a new age of D&B, with new technology. Your new chapter…
Dan: We actually know what we’re doing now so yeah, it’s amazing!
Phil: I’d just like to say from both of us a massive shout-out to our fans from over the years. Anyone who has supported us or encouraged us to make music, sorry for the long hiatus, but sending love to everyone and looking forward to seeing everyone soon and releasing music again.
Dan: We have so much love and so many good experiences in this scene. We’re so excited to step back in and do it all over again.
Atlanta, the city renowned for its musical innovation and cultural vibrancy, has seen its share of celebrated festivals over the years. Yet, among its historic lineup, some of those have come and gone, leaving a lasting impression before disappearing from the scene. Here’s a look at five defunct Atlanta music festivals, examining their rise and fall and revealing the stories behind their brief but memorable impact on the city’s festival landscape.
1. Tomorrowworld Tomorrowworld was a spinoff of the famed Tomorrowland festival in Belgium which first graced the Atlanta area in 2013. The festival drew enormous crowds and featured international EDM giants such as David Guetta, Armin van Buuren, and Tiësto. However, despite its initial success, Tomorrowworld faced a dramatic downfall. In 2015, the festival was canceled on its final day due to severe weather conditions. Heavy rainfall led to flooding and unsafe conditions, forcing organizers to call off the event. Additionally, the logistical and financial strains of managing such a large-scale event in an area prone to unpredictable weather contributed to the festival’s eventual discontinuation.
2. Imagine Music Festival
Launched in 2011, Imagine Music Festival quickly became a staple in Atlanta’s EDM scene, attracting artists like Skrillex, Illenium, and Kaskade. Despite its growing popularity, Imagine faced numerous challenges. In 2020, the festival was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a setback faced by many events worldwide. Moreover, recurring issues with venue permits and local regulations added to its difficulties. The city’s stringent regulations for large-scale events, coupled with zoning and permit complexities, created a turbulent environment for festival organizers. Despite these setbacks, Imagine Music Festival plans to return in 2025, promising a renewed effort to overcome past obstacles.
3. Shaky Beats
Shaky Beats, known for its eclectic mix of EDM and other genres, debuted in 2016. The festival featured a variety of artists including Excision, Martin Garrix, and Kygo. While Shaky Beats managed to hold several successful editions, it faced challenges with permit issues and venue changes. In 2021, the festival was called off, partly due to logistical complications and a lack of clear guidelines regarding COVID-19 restrictions. The ongoing regulatory hurdles and shifting venue requirements played a significant role in its struggles.
4. Counterpoint
Counterpoint emerged in 2012 with a lineup boasting big names like Steve Angello, Avicii, and Alesso. Despite its promising start, the festival struggled with weather-related cancellations and operational issues. In 2013, the event was canceled due to severe storms and flooding, similar to the challenges faced by Tomorrowworld. Persistent issues with local authorities and logistical planning contributed to the festival’s eventual demise.
5. Music Midtown
Though not exclusively an EDM festival, ‘Music Midtown’ did feature EDM acts such as Deadmau5, Louis The Child, and Flume. Initially a multi-genre event, Music Midtown’s EDM segment faced challenges related to city permits and local regulations. The festival’s cancellation in 2022 was attributed to a combination of factors, including shifting city regulations on large public gatherings and logistical concerns.
Atlanta’s history with EDM festivals represents a series of challenges that have made it difficult for such events to thrive on the US east coast. From weather-related cancellations to regulatory hurdles, the city’s unique conditions present significant obstacles. By understanding these challenges, organizers can better navigate the complexities of hosting successful EDM festivals in Atlanta or consider other cities with more favorable conditions for such events. As the city continues to evolve, it remains to be seen how future festivals will adapt and overcome these persistent issues.

Turning back the clock to 2009, deadmau5 is reminding us that true classics don't gather dust—they mutate, evolve and refuse to be forgotten. 15 orbits around the sun, and "Strobe" still is still filling both hearts and dancefloors all over the world. Now, deadmau5's generational dance anthem has been revived and reworked into an official remix by Layton Giordani. A paradoxical beast of nostalgia and futurism, Giordani's remix is far more than just a nod to electronic music history. The red-hot producer has coaxed "Strobe" into the raw, unforgiving light of 2039's techno bunkers, harnessing its ageless melody and channeling it through an unrelenting rhythm. Listen below along with the original track, which has been re-released today in celebration of its 15-year anniversary. Out now via mau5trap, the new remix demonstrates how timeless compositions can be reinterpreted to resonate with today's dancefloors. It artfully pays homage to the enduring impact of "Strobe" while showcasing the evolution of dance music since its release, particularly with a focus on today's boom cycle of melodic techno. The release is also a big moment for Giordani, who said deadmau5 was the first DJ to ever play his music on the mainstage of a major music festival, Ultra 2014. "Fast forward now and I got to remix my favorite record by him that helped shape me as an artist," he gushed in a recent Instagram post. "Full circle moment and proof that dreams come true." MORTEN and ARTBAT have teamed up with Bonn for "Hollow," a melodic techno anthem for anyone who's ever felt a relationship slip through their fingers. Electronic dance music fans should know Bonn by now—he's the stentorian voice behind Martin Garrix's "High On Life" and Axwell Λ Ingrosso's "More Than You Know," not mention his songwriting work with Avicii, Harry Styles, Selena Gomez and countless others. In "Hollow," out now via Insomniac Records, Bonn's aching lyrics explore the pitfalls of fractured connections and love lost in the static of misunderstanding. The Swedish singer-songwriter's powerful vocals cut through the heart of the pumping track, which pulses with a relentless energy that belies its melancholic core. "Our love lost in translation" speaks to the universal struggle of trying to be understood, while "can't see a road that leads out of here" captures the claustrophobia of feeling trapped in a dying relationship. But even as MORTEN and ARTBAT's synths slice through the emotional chaos, Bonn's refusal to "follow through these shadows" hints at a thirst for self-preservation—a recognition that sometimes the bravest act is to stop seeking rescue and instead face the hollow head-on. "Hollow" arrives in the midst of a touring hiatus for MORTEN, who recently suffered a post-performance medical emergency in which he was transported by helicopter to a hospital in Athens. The Danish DJ was hospitalized for five days and is now recovering from a shutdown of his immune system caused by Astrovirus, a common form of stomach flu, and an E. coli bacteria infection. DRINKURWATER knows that his untamed music leaves fans gasping for air, in need of reminders to replenish their water supplies. Good thing his debut album RIPPLE is filled to the brim with them—though it will still leave you breathless. The 10-track album rides the tides of various genres under the bass umbrella, from the raging waves of riddim to the choppy currents of bass house. Those threads are all connected by the producer's signature vocoded vox relaying messages of all things H2O. "This album brings back memories of the earlier days when I started the DRINKURWATER project, working on music until the early hours of the morning," the producer said. "RIPPLE reflects the sound that I envisioned having in the future. I hope you guys enjoy it as much as I believe in it."
DRINKURWATER.c/o Press
RIPPLE kicks off with its titular track, where sensual vocals slink through a flowing trap beat, escalating atop the undercurrent of a suspenseful melody. The dam then breaks all at once, bursting and sending us through a spin cycle of ferocious riddim. From there, the waters get choppier. Soaked in experimental production, "SENSATION," "MOUTHFUL" and "DAS FROG" stand out through skillful syncopation and distorted vowel bass. Soundtracking our tumble through the tumultuous waters, "TOTHEOCEAN" enters with dark, otherworldly bass in an arrangement where solace is only found in the smooth tenor of its vocals. Amidst the chaos is "BODIES," which released as a single ahead of the album. The track fluidly alternates between gritty bass house and wobbling dubstep, proving itself both a surefire DJ weapon. RIPPLE arrives in the midst of an eponymous headlining tour for DRINKURWATER. You can listen to his new album below and find it on streaming platforms here. As Eric Prydz’s iconic single “Call On Me” celebrates its 20th anniversary on September 13, 2024, it’s impossible not to reflect on its impact and the journey of its release. Originally dropped in 2004, the track quickly ascended to the heights of dance music stardom, becoming a staple in clubs and radio playlists worldwide. “Call On Me” is renowned not only for its infectious melody and pulsating beats but also for its unforgettable music video. Featuring a group of aerobics instructors engaged in a hyper-stylized, 1980s-inspired workout session, the video became a cultural phenomenon. Its blend of nostalgic visuals and catchy hooks played a crucial role in the track’s success, propelling it to the top of charts across Europe and the US. However, the release of “Call On Me” was not without its hurdles. Prydz faced significant challenges with the track’s production and distribution. Initial setbacks included delays in licensing issues and difficulties securing radio play. These obstacles were compounded by the competitive landscape of the mid-2000s dance music scene, making Prydz’ ascent all the more remarkable. Despite its success, Prydz has largely moved away from performing “Call On Me” in recent years. His decision stems from a desire to evolve as an artist and explore new creative directions. He has has expressed that while he holds fond memories of the track, he prefers to focus on his more recent work and projects that reflect his growth and artistic development. As “Call On Me” reaches this milestone anniversary, it remains a testament to Eric Prydz’s talent and a memorable part of dance music history. The track’s infectious energy and the provocative video continue to capture the imagination of fans, securing its place as a quintessential anthem of the early 2000s dance era.
Opening up about their long-awaited fifth album, Inhale / Exhale, RÜFÜS DU SOL paint a picture of an intimate process of reconnection—both with each other and their music. Appearing on Apple Music 1's The Zane Lowe Show, the band said they recorded the long-awaited album in various locations, creating their own makeshift studios along the way. Its members no longer live in Los Angeles and had to refute breakup rumors back in 2022, when lead vocalist Tyrone Lindqvist mentioned "the end of a chapter for us as a unit" during a concert at the Hollywood Bowl. Lindqvist moved to the city of Encinitas, about 25 miles north of San Diego, while bandmates Jon George and James Hunt headed to Miami. "The real magic started to happen once we were doing these little two weeks stints in those places that you were just talking about in Austin and LA and Ibiza, and I guess we really made the most of those two week stints," George told Lowe. "We were in a really good creative flow. We were reconnecting and particularly reconnecting in the studio more than ever. I think just making every minute count, getting a lot of work done and less distractions and all music time."
RÜFÜS DU SOL.Boaz Kroon
Discussing the dichotomy between the stillness of the studio and the unfiltered rapture of RÜFÜS DU SOL's live performances, Hunt says the band is able to draw a line in the sand. "We're very good at putting ourselves in other people's shoes when we're making the music, but at the same time, we're also very good at entering a little bubble because it's just the three of us," he explains. "We can create a little ecosystem where we're just having so much fun and the studio spaces that we're setting up are playgrounds with our favorite synths. And all of us are just rotating, trying different things, trying ideas." Hunt hints at a more dynamic sound, promising to push the boundaries of the band's musical expression after emerging from a period of intense creative flow. Fans can anticipate a fresh evolution of RÜFÜS DU SOL's signature atmospheric electronica, shaped by uninterrupted studio sessions and a renewed sense of creative freedom. By making every minute count, they've crafted an album that they believe truly reflects their growth as artists, Hunt says. "And I would say on this record, it's been really fun and liberating," he adds. "We've been pushing the boundaries of what the expressions of our music looks like, trying different tempos, trying different beat expressions, things that are beatless. In recent years, sustainability has become more than just a trend – it’s a necessity. With the increasing awareness of environmental issues, festival-goers are seeking ways to enjoy the festival season while minimizing their impact on the planet. One of the key areas where sustainability has taken center stage is fashion, and eco-friendly festival fashion is now at the forefront of the conversation.
Festivals are notorious for fast fashion, single-use outfits, and waste, but this is changing. More and more people are embracing sustainable clothing options, opting for brands that prioritize ethical production, recycled materials, and eco-conscious designs. The good news is, you don’t have to sacrifice style to dress sustainably – in fact, eco-friendly festival fashion in 2024 is all about vibrant colors, creative designs, and long-lasting pieces that are both chic and kind to the planet.
In this article, we will explore how to incorporate eco-friendly fashion into your festival wardrobe, the best sustainable brands to shop from, and tips for making greener choices when dressing for your next big event.
Why Eco-Friendly Festival Fashion Matters
The fashion industry is one of the largest contributors to environmental pollution, accounting for approximately 10% of global carbon emissions. Festivals, with their high consumption of single-use items and throwaway fashion, only add to this problem. Many festival-goers purchase cheap, fast fashion pieces designed to be worn once and discarded, which exacerbates issues like textile waste and microplastic pollution.
Eco-friendly festival fashion aims to combat these problems by promoting clothing that is ethically produced, made from sustainable materials, and designed to last. This shift not only helps to reduce your carbon footprint but also supports brands that are committed to ethical labor practices and environmental stewardship.
By choosing eco-friendly outfits, you’re contributing to a more sustainable future while still looking fabulous. Let’s explore how to do just that in 2024.
Sustainable Fabrics to Look for in Festival Fashion
Eco-Friendly Festival Fashion
One of the first steps to making your festival fashion more eco-friendly is understanding the fabrics you’re wearing. Sustainable fabrics are often made from natural, organic, or recycled materials that have a lower impact on the environment compared to traditional textiles.
Here are some of the top sustainable fabrics to look for when shopping for festival outfits:
1. Organic Cotton
Organic cotton is grown without the use of harmful pesticides or synthetic fertilizers, making it much kinder to the environment than conventional cotton. It also uses significantly less water. Organic cotton is breathable and lightweight, making it perfect for hot festival days.
Why It’s Great for Festivals: Soft, comfortable, and ideal for casual festival wear like t-shirts, shorts, and dresses.
2. Hemp
Hemp is one of the most eco-friendly fabrics available. It grows quickly, requires minimal water, and doesn’t need pesticides. Hemp fibers are incredibly strong and durable, meaning hemp clothing will last longer than many other materials.
Why It’s Great for Festivals: Hemp has a naturally cool feel, making it perfect for hot weather, and its durability ensures it can withstand the wear and tear of festival life.
3. Recycled Polyester
Recycled polyester is made from plastic waste, such as used water bottles, that are transformed into fabric. This helps reduce plastic pollution and gives new life to materials that would otherwise end up in a landfill or the ocean.
Why It’s Great for Festivals: Recycled polyester is lightweight, quick-drying, and perfect for festival gear like jackets, shorts, and accessories.
4. Bamboo
Bamboo is a fast-growing plant that doesn’t require pesticides or much water to thrive. Bamboo fabric is soft, breathable, and naturally antibacterial, making it an excellent choice for festival clothing.
Why It’s Great for Festivals: Bamboo is ideal for clothing that you’ll be wearing all day, as it helps regulate temperature and keeps you feeling fresh.
5. Linen
Linen is made from the flax plant, which requires very little water to grow. The fabric is known for its lightweight, breathable qualities and is a staple in sustainable fashion.
Why It’s Great for Festivals: Linen is perfect for warm weather, and its relaxed, boho style fits seamlessly with festival vibes.
Ethical and Sustainable Fashion Brands to Shop for Festivals
Shopping for eco-friendly festival fashion doesn’t have to be difficult. Many ethical fashion brands are now offering sustainable options that are stylish, functional, and perfect for festivals. Here are some top sustainable brands to consider for your festival wardrobe in 2024.
1. Patagonia
Patagonia is a pioneer in sustainable fashion, known for its commitment to using recycled materials, fair labor practices, and environmentally conscious production methods. Their outdoor gear is durable, stylish, and ideal for festival-goers looking for functional yet eco-friendly outfits.
Perfect for Festivals: Patagonia’s lightweight jackets, shorts, and recycled polyester items are great for unpredictable festival weather.
2. People Tree
People Tree is a leader in fair trade and sustainable fashion, offering a range of festival-ready clothing made from organic cotton, Tencel, and other eco-friendly fabrics. Their designs are feminine, stylish, and perfect for boho-inspired festival looks.
Perfect for Festivals: Dresses, jumpsuits, and tops made from organic cotton and Tencel – lightweight and breathable for all-day wear.
3. TALA
TALA is a sustainable activewear brand that’s perfect for festivals. Their eco-friendly collections are made from recycled materials and are designed with both style and performance in mind. Plus, they’re size-inclusive, offering a wide range of fits for all body types.
Perfect for Festivals: Sports bras, leggings, and tank tops that are comfortable, durable, and stylish.
4. Reformation

Perfect for Festivals: Flowy dresses, jumpsuits, and tops with a bohemian flair, perfect for warm festival days and cool evenings.
5. Veja
If you’re looking for sustainable footwear for your festival outfit, Veja is the perfect brand. Veja sneakers are made from organic cotton, wild rubber from the Amazon, and recycled materials, making them one of the most eco-friendly sneaker options on the market.
Perfect for Festivals: Comfortable, stylish sneakers that can handle long days of dancing and walking around festival grounds.
DIY: Upcycling and Thrift Shopping for Festival Fashion
Another great way to embrace eco-friendly festival fashion is by upcycling old clothes or shopping second-hand. Not only does this reduce your environmental impact, but it also allows you to create one-of-a-kind festival looks that no one else will have.
1. Thrift Shopping
Thrift stores are treasure troves for unique, affordable festival outfits. You can find everything from vintage denim jackets to funky accessories and statement pieces that align perfectly with festival vibes. The best part? Thrifting gives clothing a second life, reducing the demand for new production.
Tip: Look for vintage boho pieces like kimonos, band tees, or fringe vests that can be styled into a creative festival outfit.
2. Upcycling Clothes
If you have old clothes that no longer fit or are out of style, consider upcycling them into new festival-ready pieces. You can cut old jeans into shorts, tie-dye plain t-shirts, or add embellishments like patches or beads to jackets. Upcycling not only helps reduce waste but also lets you express your creativity.
Tip: Use natural dyes, like turmeric or beetroot, to give your clothes a new look without harmful chemicals.
Festival Accessories: Sustainable and Stylish
No festival outfit is complete without accessories, but it’s important to ensure that your accessories are as eco-friendly as your clothing. Here are some ways to accessorize sustainably for your next festival.
1. Sustainable Sunglasses
Sunglasses are a festival essential, and luckily, many brands are now offering eco-friendly options. Look for sunglasses made from recycled plastic, bamboo, or biodegradable materials. Brands like Pala Eyewear and Proof Eyewear offer stylish, sustainable options that protect your eyes and the planet.
2. Reusable Water Bottles
Staying hydrated is key at any festival, and instead of buying single-use plastic bottles, bring a reusable water bottle made from stainless steel or glass. Brands like Hydro Flask and S’well offer stylish, durable bottles that will keep your water cool throughout the day.
3. Eco-Friendly Jewelry
When it comes to festival jewelry, opt for pieces made from recycled materials or ethically sourced metals. Brands like Soko and Fair Trade Winds offer beautiful jewelry that is handcrafted by artisans and made using sustainable practices.
4. Recycled Backpacks and Fanny Packs
Carry your festival essentials in style with a recycled or upcycled backpack or fanny pack. Brands like Timbuk2 and Fjällräven offer eco-friendly bags made from recycled materials, perfect for carrying your water bottle, sunscreen, and snacks throughout the festival.
5. Biodegradable Glitter
Glitter is a festival staple, but traditional glitter is made from microplastics that harm the environment. Instead, opt for biodegradable glitter made from plant-based materials. Brands like EcoStardust and BioGlitz offer eco-friendly glitter options that will keep you sparkling without harming the planet.
How to Care for Your Eco-Friendly Festival Clothes
One of the best ways to ensure your sustainable festival clothes last is by taking proper care of them. Here are some tips for maintaining your eco-friendly clothing:
Wash in Cold Water: Washing your clothes in cold water helps reduce energy consumption and is gentler on fabrics like organic cotton and bamboo.
Air Dry: Avoid using a dryer when possible, as it can wear out fabrics more quickly. Instead, air dry your clothes to preserve their longevity.
Avoid Fast Fashion Temptation: Festivals often encourage quick, one-time use outfits, but resist the urge to buy trendy fast fashion pieces. Instead, invest in timeless, high-quality garments that can be worn multiple times.
Sustainable Festival Fashion Tips for 2024
Here are some quick tips for embracing eco-friendly festival fashion in 2024:
Plan Ahead: Start planning your festival outfits in advance so you can make thoughtful, sustainable choices instead of buying last-minute fast fashion.
Rent Festival Clothing: If you don’t want to invest in new outfits, consider renting festival clothes from platforms like HURR or By Rotation, which offer a wide range of sustainable fashion options.
Buy Versatile Pieces: Look for items that can be styled in multiple ways and worn for different occasions, not just festivals. This will reduce the need for buying new clothes for every event.
Support Ethical Brands: Choose to support brands that prioritize ethical production, fair wages, and eco-friendly materials. You can find many small, independent brands that offer unique, sustainable festival fashion.
Pack Light: Only bring what you need to the festival. Overpacking can lead to more waste, and it’s always better to be mindful of what you truly need.

We’re gearing up for the main song of the leading Trance movement in the world.
A State Of Trance, the gift that keeps on giving. The brand, founded and led by genre pioneer and trailblazer Armin van Buuren, has a strong tendency to crush it year after year, showcasing the past, the present and the future of that sound some hearts beat for. 2025, as we’re now aware, will be no exception.
As it is a tradition by now, each year Armin invites other pillars of the Trance world to craft the corresponding year’s ASOT anthem together. Last year we saw an incredible collaboration which left us impressed from the absolute get-go: ‘Destination‘, a piece 100% engineered by our favourite veterans Armin, Ferry Corsten, Rank 1 and Ruben de Ronde.
One particular aspect that was super interactive and delightful to internauts all over was that the track was crafted live. How, I hear you ask? These guys mounted a livestream setup on the Armada studio while they worked on the song, and attendees could see, quite literally, history in the making. This modality has carried on to this year too.
Armin van Buuren & Ben Hemsley
I cannot believe my words as I’m typing this, but it’s true. Ben Hemsley is the special collaborator of this year’s ASOT anthem. For those of you who haven’t heard of him yet, Ben is an absolute monster. Initially a House aficionado, sometime in the past three years he went all-in on Trance. And not any kind of Trance: Classic Trance.
With incredible anthems such as the by-now iconic ‘Erase Me’ (see above), ‘IBIZA’ and ‘Closer’, he’s cemented himself as the next star of the Trance side of the Dance spectrum, and with good reason. He’s recently played the twelfth — and last — show of his Ibiza Residency of this season, and he’s stepping outside his Bebé Recordings imprint for a collab with the hero of many.
Earlier today, both minds sat together in the studio to craft the beautiful anthem that’s going to soundtrack next year’s ASOT. You can watch the entire 4-hour stream by clicking the player above. We can’t wait for the final version of this beast of a track, which, like last year, spells “Classic” with all its letters.
Born too late to explore the world, born too early to explore the universe. Born just in time to witness Classic Trance return to the masses.

Deep, Dark & Dangerous has added another legend to their roster, Caspa, who is back with a new EP. Inner Space is the dubstep icon's debut on the TRUTH-curated label, featuring four tracks that explore the deeper end of his sound. The opening track "Overlords" features gargantuan bass that warps and melts like a spaceship engine powering down after jumping to lightspeed, while the eerie "Gummo" opts for subtle wobbles beneath haunting keys. "Interdimensional" also delivers Caspa's signature low end, with powerful, grinding bass reminiscent of a warning signal before approaching a hostile planet. On the other hand, the EP's unrelenting closer "What Happened To Him" sounds like the crash-landing on that planet with its aggressive bassline, which twists and contorts like a Xenomorph ready to attack. Caspa is now gearing up for a number of high-profile performances in the months ahead. In less than two weeks, he'll go b2b with fellow dubstep legend Rusko at Lost Lands Festival before taking the stage at Wakaan Music Festival. He'll then join Nero, Knife Party, Flux Pavilion and more at UKF's epic Drumsheds takeover in December. Listen to Inner Space below and find the new single on streaming platforms here.
