Two years after Gordo and Drake's collaborations became instant summertime staples in 2022, they're ready to showcase much more on the former's debut album, Diamante.
Executive-produced by Drake, the project is a culmination of over five years of work and a reflection of GORDO's evolution as an artist. He famously retired his Carnage alias back in May 2022.
"[Diamante is] the most emotional project I’ve worked on in my life," GORDO said. "It features work from artists I’ve looked up to and artists who inspire me, some I’ve known for years and others I’ve met more recently."
GORDO and Drake's partnership has been instrumental in shaping the landscape where hip-hop meets dance music. Their collaborative force was first showcased on Drake's house-influenced album Honestly, Nevermind, in which Gordo contributed production to six tracks. The synergy is set to continue on Diamante, which will also feature high-profile contributions from T-Pain, Maluma and more.

Since adopting the GORDO alias, the "Taraka" producer has earned several significant accolades in a short period of time, including a Grammy nomination and topping Billboard's "Hot 100 Producers" chart. Fans can look forward to the producer's next milestone with the release of his debut album on July 26th.
"This album embodies all my different tastes and personalities, from what I listen to, to what I play live, who I am as an artist, but most importantly, who Diamante is," he added. "It’s my most personal work to date and comes from a place of love and authenticity. Most of the album’s production was done at home in Hawaii. I would produce until 6 PM, then I’d take a break, sit on my terrace, and watch the sunset while listening to the album and taking it all in. It’s an album you can listen to at home and at a 5am rave; it can be the pinnacle of your night or the perfect come-down after a long day. I can’t wait to show you what I’ve been working on."

Prepare for a deep dive back into the underworld of TESTPILOT, the enigmatic, techno-centric alias of deadmau5.
Despite the passage of time, when deadmau5 dons the mantle of TESTPILOT one thing is for certain: he's going to envelop listeners on an explorative journey into the darkest, most visceral realms of techno. His first release under the alias since 2014, "Wet" is an eight-minute expedition into that world.
Dripping with acid-fueled bass and minimalist synths, "Wet" is a dark, slippery exploration of underground techno sound resonating within a maze of eerie echoes and throbbing production. The track begins with a steady, droning kick that sets a hypnotic pace, immediately pulling us into its grasp before peeling back layers of atmospheric effects.
The release paves the way for TESTPILOT's next chapter, featuring on deadmau5's upcoming project, some ep, alongside his recent single "Quezacotl." Fans can look forward to the full release on July 19th and pre-save it here.

In the electronic dance music scene, it’s common for artists to branch out and experiment with new styles and genres as they evolve. This often leads to artists finding their perfect fit while bringing fresh sounds to the table. Such is the case for Wolverave.
Wolverave, a French DJ and producer from Bordeaux, began his music production journey at the young age of 14, over a decade ago. Throughout his career, he has explored various electronic genres, including house, dubstep, drum and bass, lofi, trap, and more. Recently, he has fallen in love with the rave and underground scenes, particularly drawn to their vibrant energy.
This newfound passion has inspired Wolverave to create some epic bangers, such as ‘Vielleicht Vielleicht’ and ‘Eurodancer’, a collaboration with Poylow & R3SPAWN. His live performances are equally electrifying, with an upcoming event in his hometown called Rave Cave.
Keep an eye on Wolverave as he embarks on this exciting new chapter in his career. This is just the beginning.

In the twenty-tens, if you found yourself listening to artists like Rae Sremmurd, Wiz Khalifa and Lil Wayne, you were in good company. So did Tape B, the barnstorming dubstep and bass music producer who is channeling the nostalgia of their timeless hip-hop to cultivate his beloved "Old School x New School" style.
Tape B's real name is Kemal Berk Alkanat, though he'll introduce himself as Berk since his first and middle names got switched in the midst of his move from Turkey at just three years old. Now 26, the DJ has found himself on a snowballing trajectory to superstardom.
Tape B.Ricky Guidini
Though his steps into electronic music's limelight are fairly recent, Alkanat has been producing music for 10 years. That means his Tape B project was well underway at the young age of 16. But it wasn’t until recently—through a pandemic-spurred move home to Boca Raton, Florida—that Alkanat had a lightbulb moment leading to his now-signature sound.
"I was in this rut where I can make good music but I just don’t know who I am or what kind of music Tape B is," he recalls in an interview backstage at the dazzling Breakaway Festival in Minnesota.
Through listening to dubstep from the iconic UKF channel along with loads of SoundCloud rap, Alkanat says he experienced an epiphany of sorts, deciding to remix the music he used to listen to in high school since he was home and "everything felt nostalgic" at the time. As it turned out, adding newfangled sounds to long-since popularized tracks seemed to fit what he wanted: a vibe of his own.
"It clicked immediately after I made the first three," he recalls. "I was like, 'Yo, I’m actually pretty good at making these remixes.'"
Though the songs he reworks are fairly recognizable among fans, Alkanat adds, he chooses their subject matter based off of his own perception of nostalgia.
"I always try to keep it something niche to me where no one else is remixing it," he says.
As his music grows increasingly popular music, Alkanat highlights another element that has become a signature: vowel bass, the deep and growling sound he endearingly refers to as "the yoys." This slithering sound is in the underbelly of his fan-favorite remix of PEEKABOO and LYNY's trap hit "Like That."
Alkanat recognizes that fans are starting to associate his name with vowel bass, but he wants fans to know that he adopted the sound out of respect to its progenitors.
"I feel like I did play a part in bringing that sound back, but it’s just been such an iconic sound for decades," he explains, crediting dubstep icons Zeds Dead and Doctor P with its popularization.
Though the seismic sound is in much of his wobbly hybrid music, Alkanat strives to keep "the yoys" on a tight leash, emphasizing that he spaces them out in music releases and DJ sets alike.
He identifies inspirations behind other Tape B sounds as Claybrook, SVDDEN DEATH, Space Laces, Getter and REZZ, among others. Though he mentions that his sound doesn’t much mirror that of his inspirations, it's the curation of an atmosphere surrounding their music that inspires him. "I just think they’re extremely unique; they do them very well," he says.
Another major inspiration lies behind his adored tagline, "Yo Tape B, show 'em how it’s done." He credits influential trap producer TroyBoi with the idea to split up the line and strategically place its fragments throughout his tracks.
View the original article to see embedded media.
Now, after filtering through inspiration to find his own clarity in his direction, it's undeniable that he's achieved the perfect concoction of sentimentality, novelty and in-your-face bass. And his career has progressed exponentially, recently dropping high-flying sets at Coachella and Ultra Music Festival, just two of a plethora of major appearances. He's now gearing up for his own headlining tour in the fall—the largest of his career to-date.
Pulling the yarn of his "Old School x New School" direction switch, Alkanat recalls a surreal moment at last year's Electric Forest that served as a crucial validator.
"When I looked out, I couldn’t believe how big the crowd was," he reminisces with a smile. "I had prepared so well for it. I played my first song and I was immediately so happy—I was like, 'I know exactly what I'm doing, I'm so well prepared.' And I was so in the moment for that, and that was the day it turned around for me."
For many fans of EDM and hip-hop alike, Tape B's recent track "Trippy Land," a collaboration with Mersiv and Juicy J, was an instant playlist staple upon release. Working with the iconic rapper, Alkanat says, helped to legitimize his work in hip-hop.
The track's release also catalyzed the outreach of more artists he hadn't even dreamt of working with yet. Despite his excitement and gratitude, he emphasizes that when it comes to collaborations, he doesn’t want to rush it.
"I want to make sure I have stuff that I’m really proud of before I send a lot of my favorite rappers and influences something to work on," he says.
Other rappers he dreams of working alongside include Meechy from Flatbush Zombies, Schoolboy Q, Waka Flocka Flame and A$AP Rocky, the lattermost of whom tops the list.
For Alkanat, the key to navigating his rapid ascent was getting over the fear of freestyling rather than having his sets planned out. "When I freestyle it’s just so much easier," he says. "I know exactly what I want to play... it was really just getting over that fear of freestyling in front of thousands of people."
Knowing that freestyling led to his best work but fearing the potential mistakes that come with an unplanned set, it took some rationalizing to overcome his doubts. "Back then all I did was show up with a laptop and my controller and just read the room for four hours, and I thought I was way better back then at DJing," he explains. "So now I’m like, ‘I was good then, why don’t I just do this in a bigger setting?'"
"It was kind of a mental battle, but now I’m very comfortable freestyling up there,” he continues, highlighting the connection it cultivates with his fans. "I think it’s more fun for the fans to just be in the moment and play what feels right."
His approach extends even further, like in his fan-favorite "Cartunes" and "Driptapes" volumes released via SoundCloud. According to Alkanat, these mixes pay homage to his top live tracks of the year.
You may be surprised to discover that he sits down and assembles these mixes all in one go. Alkanat says he finds himself consumed by a "random manic state" as he sits down to work on longer mixes and EPs, and the spontaneity with which he changes elements.
"The 'Dopamine' VIP, with the Rae Sremmurd vocals over it—I made that the day before the mix came out and I’m like, 'I think this would actually fit!' And now it’s a lot of people’s favorite part from the mix," he reveals with a laugh.
In the same vein of feeling and fun within his own studio, Alkanat wants to encourage a sense of community with his nostalgia-fueled music. So take it from the producer himself that his music and sets are there for your entertainment and escape—along with the occasional headbang".
“At the end of the day, as long as everyone’s respectful, and they’re kind to each other and having fun, that’s what it's all about," he says. "We’re all here to get away from real-life shit and just have fun and listen to music."

Listen to the most flavour-packed tracks we discovered this week.
Music makes the world go round. And in that regard, we’re constantly on the lookout for new, exciting tunes to share with our audience. We’ve found some that cause goosebumps, and make you open your eyes and get up from your chair to dance. So put on your best pair of headphones, or turn up your speakers, and enjoy this week’s New Music Friday.
Here are our top picks for the best music we came across this week, in no particular order. And remember, if you would like to contact us for a chance to feature your track on our page, head over to this link right here.
Wassu – Bell Lap
Genre: Organic House
Kicking off this week’s New Music Friday, a personal favourite. The sauce guy, the finance lad, the one who is able to create such sexy and sensitive pieces of music all at the same time, Wassu. Out today is his Bell Lap EP on Nick Warren’s The Soundgarden, a three-tracker which had remained an ID for the better part of three whole years.
While all the tracks are A-class, we’re marrying the title track, ‘Bell Lap‘. Organic, melodic, and so groovy, this one is a match if you’re looking to keep your sunset set on the higher energy levels. It’s got an unbelievable amount of tension which never lets you go, and keeps you awake at all times, ready to dance your heart out when the beat lands.
Beije – Ecdysis (Discognition Remix)
Genre: Melodic House, Breakbeat
We’re in the zone today, so let us allow another very melodic, borderline-tear-inducing tune on today’s roundup. Toronto-based duo Beije crafted an absolutely beautiful track titled ‘Ecdysis‘, and today, Discognition, a Beatport chart topper, gave it a personal spin, which leaves us with quite the gem.
It’s got the spirit of Melodic House, wearing a Breakbeat suit, and with an Organic House tie. This one truly is a hybrid worth checking out, since it blends the best of three different vibes into a single product that flows so nicely. The strings, against the arpeggios, against the percussion, against the broken kick patterns… “Mmmmmmm“.
John Summit feat. KOATES – Undo
Genre: Tech House, House
We couldn’t leave Mr Summit out of the equation of this New Music Friday. After conquering all the possible stages with killer singles consistently released over the span of a couple of years, John Summit presented his debut album, Comfort In Chaos, today. A collection of his best latest music plus banging new tunes, and this one is among our favourites.
‘Undo‘ counts with the vocals of KOATES, and maybe the perfect way to describe its essence is “a nod to the past with the emotion of the present”. Because we were so happy to hear Summit’s oldish Tech House groove from the Lockdown era, but executed in a different way: warm, nostalgic, album-worthy if you will. Goes to show why he is as on top of the world as he currently is.

Ben Böhmer feat. Lykke Li – Hiding
Genre: Electronica, Garage
This week we received a belter from a legend in the works. Ben Böhmer‘s newest single, ‘Hiding’ is a collaboration with award-winning artist Lykke Li, and it marks the second single on Böhmer’s upcoming studio album, Bloom, to come out on September 27 via Ninja Tune. And it’s tasty. Quite tasty.
An effortless combination of Indie, Pop, and Electronica, ‘Hiding’ is flooded with Ben’s lush pads and triumphant melodies, while Lykke Li’s iconic vocals wash over crisp breakbeats. The single continues to forge Ben’s path beyond the pre-fabricated boxes that he’s been put into as an artist, earning the trust of Indie royalty such as Lykke Li. A rare feature, ‘Hiding’ is her first original collaboration since 2019.
Paul Thomas feat. Christian Burns – Enjoy the Silence
Genre: Progressive House
When a classic track of the history of Mankind is reworked, the world takes a break and listens closely. If the rose artwork sounds familiar, you’re on the right path. ‘Enjoy the Silence‘, arguably Depeche Mode’s greatest track ever — and which, fun fact, almost didn’t come to be —, is reimagined by FSOE UV owner, Paul Thomas.
Steemed vocalist Christian Burns takes the starring place of Dave Gahan as the vocalist of this take, one that sees the timeless track turn into a hyper-hypnotic Progressive House piece. Taking away the 80s snares from the track and giving other percussion place and time to shine, the outcome of the vibe is entirely different, and refreshing. We dig this one, for sure.
Final Words

Few people have burst onto the electronic music scene quite as fast or quite as emphatically as the wild Australian DJ Fisher with his insane tech house banger ‘Losing It.’ At a time where tech house was a genre that largely stuck to the underground scene, Fisher managed to bring it to the mainstream and ‘Losing It’ contributed massively to the shift from mainstage EDM going into the charts to house and tech house being the more dominant force.
Following leaving the DJ duo Cut Snake, Fisher would release his first single ‘Ya Kidding’ which gained him early success. His funky basslines and crazy onstage energy gained the Aussie a lot of fans and he would gain even more attention with his follow up tracks ‘Stop It’ and ‘Crowd Control’ that were a further display of his unique style. With this incredible run of hits, he would manage to get a gig at Coachella where his career would suddenly skyrocket.
In the lead up to Coachella he had finished the now infamous track ‘Losing It’ which he planned on debuting at the historic festival. Fisher was very confident in this new track as one of his colleagues James Mack recalls him simply saying “Watch this” before playing the track live. The reaction from the crowd said it all as the irresistible bass line got everybody moving and wanting to hear more.
The commercial success of ‘Losing It’ was beyond what anyone imagined with it going to number 1 on the Beatport charts for 21 weeks straight, going to number 1 on Billboard’s Dance Club Songs chart, and even receiving a Grammy nomination for Best Dance Recording. Since its release ‘Losing It’ has gone on the rack up over half a billion streams on Spotify and is widely regarded as one of the best tech house songs ever released. This track is nothing short of iconic and rightfully earned Fisher the success he deserved, and he hasn’t slowed down since in either his music or in his ever-entertaining stage antics.

Summer can’t be all silly and jolly. Emotions power through in the bliss of the heat and sometimes, we need a dark and twisted track to keep us in check. deadmau5 returns under his prestiged Techno Alias TESTPILOT to deliver a twisted, soaking track. ‘Wet’ is the perfect track for all of us Techno fiends. Thanks to mau5trap A rhytm that sways between Techno and dark tech-house, inspiring complex emotions in all of us.
Soakin’ ‘Wet’
When you think Summer 2024 can’t get any better, TESTPILOT makes a victoruious return with this delicious release. The song has all the gritty textures that the alias is known for. Moreover, it has similar element’s to Kx5’s ‘Unobsidian’, which will make you act extremely feral. The spooky sounds embellishes you in tribal rhythms that will keep you dancing until your friends try to take you out of the afters, but you won’t let go of the groove.
The track that is over 8 minutes long comes as a surprise, giving that the TESTPILOT project started in 2013 and he hadn’t released a track as such since 2014. Could this be the start of a new era for Joel Zimmerman? His techno sets are rowdy, dark and fun, so we are really hoping that is the case. The song will appear on deadmau5 newest EP some ep coming up next Friday july 19.
TESTPILOT
While Celebrating 25 years of the amazing project that is deadmau5, with a tour and even an exhibit in Las Vegas’ AREA15, The Canadian Grammy-nominated DJ and producer Joel Zimmerman aka deadmau5 is one of EDM’s biggest names. With a snarky personality and music that resonates with a massive audience, it’s expected for the artists to adapt to the times and evolve within his sound.
With his alias, the artist is able to dabble into different sounds. TESTPILOT’s take on techno has fused the tradition and soul of techno with a razor edge, sharpened by years of comprehensive knowledge and exploration of the music and its tools. His sets are haunting, cosmic, and move at prime velocity, ready for the darkest of warehouses. Now with the arrival of “Wet,” expect the unexpected from TESTPILOT. With ten years under his belt, TESTPILOT will make a triumphat return and perhaps take a bigger role in producing smashing tracks.
It’s so humid in here, i feel… so… ‘Wet’!

Anjunabeats has become the first dance music label to sponsor a tennis player during the grass court season. This unique partnership saw British tennis star Alicia Barnett proudly sporting Anjunabeats’ iconic ‘A’ logo during her matches at Wimbledon.
Barnett, an avid Anjuna fan, fought hard over the past two weeks, participating in both the women’s doubles and mixed doubles events. She reached the quarter-finals in the mixed doubles alongside her partner Marcus Willis. Originally from Painswick, Gloucestershire, Barnett began playing tennis at the age of seven. She achieved a career-high doubles ranking of world No. 59 on October 24, 2022.
Above & Beyond founded Anjunabeats in 2000 and have released nearly 1000 trance and progressive tracks to date. This collaboration with Barnett marks a notable milestone for the label, given Barnett’s enthusiasm for the label and James Grant, the co-owner of Anjunabeats, being a long-time tennis aficionado.
“Having been a keen tennis player and frequent grass court queuer for many years, I was super excited that Anjuna was able to support Lissey at this year’s tournament. The fact she’s a genuine fan of the label makes it even sweeter,” shared James Grant.
Historically, other dance music labels have not sponsored athletes, making Anjunabeats’ sponsorship of Barnett a unique and pioneering move in the industry. While dance music labels like Spinnin’ Records, Armada Music, and OWSLA are known for their innovative approaches in the music scene and have ventured into multimedia and other entertainment sectors, they have not ventured into athlete sponsorships.
Congratulations to Alicia and Marcus for their outstanding performance and making it to the mixed doubles quarterfinals!

John Summit has freshly unveiled what might be the most-anticipated electronic album of the year. Now streaming via Experts Only in partnership with Darkroom Records, Comfort In Chaos comprises 12 original mixes, each a distinct reflection of Summit’s deep-rooted appreciation for house, techno, and their neighboring sub-genres. The album takes listeners on a sonically diverse yet cohesively sound journey, showcasing Summit’s mastery over melodic house, dissonant techno, liquid drum & bass, UK garage, electro-pop, and tech-house during the LP’s 43-minute runtime.
Opening with the album’s progressive-leaning title track, Summit then introduces a new melodic anthem in “Tears,” featuring London-based singer/songwriter Paige Cavell. Subsequently, he pivots to a new UK garage-inspired collaboration, “Stay With Me,” before re-introducing “Shiver” and “EAT THE BASS.” Comfort In Chaos includes seven brand new original tracks. Aside from the aforesaid newbies, “comedown” follows “EAT THE BASS” as one of the album’s slower inclusions, clocking in at 122 beats per minute. After a hypnotic palette cleansing, Summit jumps into peak time Kaskade-assisted techno before, among “Where You Are” and “Go Back,” premiering the album’s remaining newcomers: “Give Me Anything” with Elderbrook, “Undo” with KOATES, and an 84 BPM breakbeat track with venbee, “palm of my hands.”

Hailing from Australia and now based in Las Vegas, THMPSN is a multifaceted Phonk producer, DJ, and violinist. His musical journey began with classical training and international tours, performing at prestigious venues such as Dvorak Hall in Prague and Rheingoldhalle in Mannheim, as well as opening the Australian embassy in Berlin and lecturing at the French Conservatory of Music. After relocating to the United States, THMPSN gained prominence as a viral content creator, building the YouTube channels of fitness icons Bradley Martyn and Calum Von Moger (while using their videos to promote his house bangers) and increasing his own fame with viral violin clips. As a one-of-a-kind individual, THMSPN is now channeling his talents into exploring new genres and ventures.
Last month, THMPSN kicked off this new artistic era with “Nicole Aniston,” an official collaboration with Memphis hip-hop legend Kingpin Skinny Pimp, who has become the heaviest sampled artist in the entire phonk genre. Named after the adult film star (who also recorded vocals on the track), “Nicole Aniston” is a drift phonk banger that combines the genre’s signature aesthetic with elegant string arrangements.
Today, the artist unveils “VIOLINO DA BRUXARIA,” a dynamic collaboration with Brazilian phonk duo Dragon Boys that blends traditional Brazilian rhythms with dark, atmospheric phonk elements for a transportive sonic journey.
It is fitting decision that Dragon Boys – renowned for their electrifying live performances and innovative use of samba and bossa nova influences – have teamed up with THMPSN, whose reputation for producing hauntingly immersive tracks with heavy basslines has earned him a dedicated following in the underground phonk scene.
The seamless sonic fit between the two artist projects is evident on “VIOLINO DA BRUXARIA,” which is backdropped by traditional Brazilian percussion elements that provide a rich, textured atmosphere – a presentation that complements the track’s brooding phonk aesthetics. The song also features deep, propulsive bass lines, an infectious rhythm that drives the track forward as it incorporates distorted vocal samples from Dragon Boys – a combination that provides the track with a gritty edge.
Together, THMPSN and Dragon Boys have crafted a track that seamlessly merges the raw energy of phonk with the vibrant, pulsating spirit of Brazilian music
The collaboration coincides with the release of a vibrant, THMPSN-directed music video – a visual accompaniment that evokes the spirit of the Fast and Furious movies by highlighting the symbiotic relationship between Phonk music and car culture. The video showcases vivid colors and lively scenes of dancers surrounding the iconic 1966 fastback Holley Mustang. With energetic performances and dynamic choreography reminiscent of Brazilian music videos, it creates a visually stunning and exhilarating experience, capturing the essence of both the music and the automotive world.

The man of the moment is back for yet another infectiously catchy track.
Since the launch of his very own WHYNOTUS label a few months ago, Club Space resident and globetrotting artist Malóne hasn’t stopped pumping out anthem after anthem. From Ibiza to Berlin, Miami and beyond, he’s been carving a space for himself all over the world — and all over the scene, too.
The Tech House maestro, Beatport Afro House chart-topper and 1001Tracklists’ Future of Dance artist is back in the spotlight today with the release of his latest single, ‘Talk 2 Em Mate‘, yet another piece of hypnotic Tech House bound to captivate those who are around during his lengthy Club Space sets, or at any of his tours for that matter.
‘Talk 2 Em Mate’
The single serves as the triumphant culmination of Malóne’s whirlwind European tour, which came to a wrap last week. Over there, he shared the stage of Hï Ibiza with The Martinez Brothers, played at Weekend Beach Festival, performed at Alemagou in Mykonos, and much more.
Rhythmicly-rapped vocals, fast-paced percussion, vinyl scratches, groove, groove, and more groove, are only a few of the things awaiting behind that Play button you’re looking at. The track is simple and effective, and is a perfect example of how Malóne is able to craft bangers with ease, and without resorting to an overwhelming amount of elements. That’s class.

A collision of SLANDER and Nikademis' euphoric production and the emotionally intoxicating lyricism of Poo Bear has brought to fans a new anthem with an existential twist.
Out now via SLANDER's own Heaven Sent label, "If Tomorrow Never Happens” explores the finite nature of humanity while maintaining a triumphant sound and feeling. Together with Poo Bear, the melodic bass duo debuted the new single together at Miami's Ultra Music Festival in March before dropping it again at EDC Las Vegas in May.
At the track's outset, we're met with a gentle melody that underlies smooth vocals conveying the title's thought-provoking message. A vigorous beat builds tension underneath speculative lyrics, which pose a series of open-ended "what ifs" should we not see the sun rise tomorrow. A euphoric drop then enters the fray to contrast Poo Bear's sobering hypotheticals, its melody encouraging us to realize what his words mean for their todays.
"I sent SLANDER a DM one evening in hopes of being able to create a song with them that could take over the world," Poo Bear said in a statement. "I wrote this song with intent of creating an anthem for party and festival goers to be able to celebrate like tomorrow isn’t gonna happen! We never know when our time is up in life and for this reason we have to live like tomorrow might not happen."

Prospective attendees of Sweden's Way Out West Festival, in the form of sperm and eggs, will soon be incubated to the sounds of its headliners, including Fred again… and Peggy Gou.
That's according to the festival's organizers, who this week announced the creation of a new stage in collaboration with renowned designer Love Hultén. They are planning to activate the miniature stage, dubbed "Future Fan Stage," at Eliva, an IVF clinic in Stockholm.
Complete with colorful (albeit gentle) visuals, the fully functional stage will be "injecting" live recordings of music by the festival's headliners into unfertilized embryo samples "before they even develop into fetuses," per a blog post shared by Way Out West. The festival cited recent studies showing that "music improves the fertilization rate during an IVF process."
The innovative installation takes the scientific effects of music quite literally. Hultén expressed excitement for the intricate layers of the stage's design, saying he was "all in" after the festival approved him.
"The Future Fan Stage was already an amazing concept in theory and had a lot of interesting design aspects," the Swedish audiovisual artist said. "Combining elements from the lab world with music stage visuals was challenging and fun."
"With this cheeky and wonderful idea, we will get future fans hooked on our festival with great live music, even before they’ve come into being," added Way Out West Project Manager Kimmie Winroth. "And if we’re lucky, even contribute to welcoming them into existence."
For those who have surpassed their cellular form of life, this year's Way Out West Festival returns to Gothenburg's Slottsskogen park from August 8-10. Passes can be purchased here.

An action group challenged the Tomorrowland campsite permit recently.
Just days before tens of thousands of festival-goers arrive at Boom, Belgium, the Dreamville campsite associated with the iconic Tomorrowland music festival is battling a last-minute obstacle. The action group Leefmilieu Rupelstreek has filed an appeal against the permit of the place, accusing potential environmental damage and legal breaches.
The appeal centres around alleged failures by the festival organisers to secure the necessary permits for specific actions undertaken during the campsite’s construction. These actions include altering vegetation and paving sections of the designated area, both of which are restricted within the nature reserve where Dreamville is located. Additionally, the group claims unauthorised drainage activities have negatively impacted the habitat of protected salamander and natterjack toad species.
Leen Schamp, a representative of Leefmilieu Rupelstreek, emphasises the group’s commitment to upholding environmental regulations. “These practices simply aren’t allowed in a nature reserve“, Schamp states. “We believe the organisers neglected to obtain crucial permits and conducted activities during the construction phase that are, in fact, illegal“.

The appeal has drawn criticism from Minister Zuhal Demir, who oversees the permitting process. In a statement, Demir suggests the timing of the appeal may be strategically motivated to disrupt the festival. “The applicants of this appeal waited until the last day with a clear view to the collapse of the festival“, he said. “While the appeal itself cannot be commented on until reviewed, the last-minute filing raises concerns about the intent behind it“.
Schamp defends their take, explaining “Our group consists of volunteers with other commitments, so processing the documents takes time“, hence why the appeal was filed just days before Tomorrowland.
And speaking of Tomorrowland, organisers expressed surprise at the appeal, noting its unprecedented nature and close proximity to the festival’s commencement. “We’ve received permits for Dreamville in past years without such challenges. (…) We remain confident in the ongoing legal process and believe a positive resolution is achievable“.
This is an ongoing story and we’ll keep a close eye on how everything unfolds. If given legal validation, the preparations at the campsite will have to be stopped and the campsite might not be used to its full potential. Stay tuned to our page for more news.

deadmau5 is planning to take fans to church ahead of a hotly anticipated EP—Hackney Church, that is. Standing in East London since 1275, the church recently underwent an ambitious renovation, transforming the historic building into a destination for music and art events alongside regular services.
The venue, cozy and intimate, will present deadmau5 for "his most intimate London show in years," according to the concert's organizer, LWE Events. Scheduled for July 16th with Volaris as support, the show will celebrate the iconic producer's new body of work, Some EP.
The restoration of the Anglican church's interior and surrounding churchyard cost the developers, SAINT, £6 million (just over $7.7 million USD). According to the church's website, it has been a "center of Christian worship in the borough since 1275" and now hosts various cultural events.
Through the upcoming deadmau5 show and others, the venue and its proprietors are operating with the aim of "renewing culture," per SAINT's website. It also serves as a museum of sorts, with an archive of historical documents dating back to the building's construction.
You can purchase tickets to deadmau5's show at Hackney Church here.

Vitalic, the OG French electro wizard, just dropped a straight-up banger with Cercle Records. “You Are Not Alone” is a certified face-melter that’ll have you questioning your existence while your body moves involuntarily to its relentless pulse.
This joint kicks off with some retro-futuristic arps that’ll make you feel like you’re piloting a spaceship through a wormhole. Then BAM! That four-on-the-floor beat hits you like a freight train, anchoring the track with the gravitational pull of a black hole. But hold up, we ain’t done yet – a spectral vocal floats in, adding some serious haunted disco vibes to the mix.
Just when you think you’ve got this track figured out, Vitalic flips the script. A gnarly, bone-rattling bassline crashes the party, setting the stage for one of those spine-tingling drops that only this madman can conjure. From there, it’s a non-stop rollercoaster of pulsating energy, with those celestial arpeggios dancing around your cranium like a constellation of party-starting stars.
Bottom line: Vitalic’s latest offering is a certified heater that’ll have you questioning the nature of reality while simultaneously losing your shit on the dancefloor. It’s a time-bending, genre-defying masterpiece that proves why this cat’s been at the top of the game for so long. Trust me, fam – you need this track in your life yesterday. Now excuse me while I go rewire my brain to this absolute weapon of a tune. Peace!
