Supernova returns with club banger ‘AlonE’ on DFTD

Italian electronic duo Supernova is back. Their new single ‘AlonE‘ hits DFTD, London’s top club label. The track features SLM on vocals.
Supernova’s known for crowd-pleasing DJ sets. They mix it up for newcomers and old hands alike. They’ve played in the world’s best venues. Elrow in Barcelona and Ibiza. Ministry of Sound in London. Space in Miami and Ibiza. Tenax in Italy.
In the studio, they’re just as impressive. They’ve put out loads of tracks on Defected.
Remember that Kerri Chandler remix? ‘Hallelujah‘? That was them. They worked with Ben Westbeech and KON on it.
Now they’re back on DFTD. Their last EP, ‘You Have House‘, dropped in 2021.
‘AlonE‘ is pure modern club music. It’s Supernova at their best. Marco Carola’s already playing it. He’s the boss at Music On. If he likes it, you know it’s good.
The production is top-notch. It’s minimal, but there’s a lot going on. Every bar brings something new. SLM’s vocals add grit. It’s got a wicked, hedonistic vibe.
This track could be huge. It’s got all the ingredients. The beat is relentless. It’ll keep you moving all night.
I can already imagine it in a packed club. The bass thumping. The crowd going wild.
Supernova knows how to build tension. They drop little hints of what’s coming. Then boom – it all kicks off. It’s clever stuff.
The vocal samples are used sparingly. Just enough to hook you in. It’s the kind of track that DJs will love. Easy to mix, but with plenty of impact.
I reckon this will be in a lot of sets this summer from underground clubs to big festivals.
It’s not easy to stay relevant in electronic music. Trends come and go so fast. But Supernova’s managed it. They’ve evolved without losing their essence.
This track feels fresh, but it’s still unmistakably them. It’s a balancing act. Give the fans what they want, but surprise them too.
If you’re into house music, you need to hear this. If you’re not, it might just convert you.

PAIN Unveils Massive Remix Pack For Album ‘I Am’

Released back in May, PAIN‘s 10th studio album ‘I Am’ has been incredibly well received by both fans a critics alike. Containing 11 singles, each just as good as the other, the album was yet another fantastic addition to the ever-growing catalog of PAIN. Now, taking it to the next level, the Swedish artist is thrilled to announce the release of the highly anticipated remix pack via the Wool Music imprint.

This album is a comprehensive concept album spanning a number of alternative electronic genres, from drum and bass to industrial. It features six innovative remixes along with a special remake of PAIN’s hit ‘Shut Your Mouth’ by festival headliner Vion Konger as a bonus track. This release marks the culmination of a successful 10-month release cycle for the new PAIN album.
First remix to be highlighted, we’ve got Harddope putting their touches on ‘Go With The Flow’. This duo turns the single into a vibrant, fast-tempo, G House/Slap House remix, infusing a dark atmosphere with heavy synths and dancing grooves. Next up we have Zardonic & Levia showcasing their signature sound with a bright, fierce, and super-fast Drum & Bass remix. This is followed by the Infraction remix of the title track ‘I Am’. Infraction combines elements of the original with a stylish, rhythmic dubstep arrangement. The ‘I Am (Remixes)’ album stands out for its diversity and creative unity. Ashley Paul And Luv Foundation (UK) Team With BootlegBoys Unveil Brand New Single ‘Dance (U Gotta)’

With their current smash ‘Hearts Up’ still in heavy rotation and championed by EARMILK, EDMHouseNetwork and We Rave You, and the Robbie Rivera and Lizzie Curious remixes being played by StoneBridge on Sirius XM BPM and DJ S.K.T on Kiss FM, Ashley Paul and Luv Foundation (UK) are showing no signs of slowing down with the release of their new summer dance smash ‘Dance (U Gotta)’ with the BootlegBoys. The single is a rework of BootlegBoys‘, aka Keith Mac and Matt Clayden, single titled ‘Euro Friendly’ released on the Labello Dance record label in October 1994.

You may have heard elements of this single before, Mark from Luv Foundation (UK) goes on to say “I remember going to TRADE back in 1995, I was only 16 years old and heard this track played by the legendary late Tony De Vit in his set, I remember going into the record exchange shop in Soho, London and grabbing a compilation album called FLYING HIGH where the track was featured, it has been a huge part of my life and DJ sets and I regularly use the Original for GYM sets and cardio sets to this day”.
It’s no surprise that Mark would reach out to Keith Mac and ask if they could rework this underground 1994 classic, and with permission to add a new vocal around the hook line of the original. Ashley teaming up once more with Lucas Marx have added a new verse and re-tweaked the original hook line and we have to say they capture something pretty amazing around the hook line, which will captivate you instantly.
Mark from Luv Foundation (UK) came up with the concept of the artwork, social and lyric video, bringing a nostalgic feel using stickmen dancing with Sean Keepin bringing Mark‘s vision to life.

Hunter/Game Release ‘Last Hour’ EP

Italian electronic duo Hunter/Game have unveiled their latest EP. It’s called ‘Last Hour‘. The three-track release is out now on Just This. This is the duo’s own record label.
The EP features two new original tracks. Both are collaborations with the German duo Ramverk.
It also includes a remix. This comes from respected producer Recondite.
This release follows Hunter/Game‘s ‘Stars‘ EP. It came out in late May to international acclaim.
‘Last Hour‘ is the title track. It opens the EP. This five-minute piece showcases Hunter/Game’s signature style. They blend raw emotion with dancefloor-ready rhythms. Ramverk provides vocals. These sit atop layers of sound. The result is atmospheric. It sets the tone for the entire EP.
Track two is called ‘Let Love’. It takes listeners on an introspective journey. Again, Ramverk contributes lyrics with a melancholic feel.
Hunter/Game pair these words with deep basslines. Eerie samples add to the mood. Pulsating beats drive the track forward. It’s a dark, understated piece.
The final track is a remix. German producer Recondite takes on ‘Let Love’. This marks Recondite’s first appearance on Just This. It’s a highly anticipated single.
Recondite is known for his haunting sound design. He brings this skill to his version of ‘Let Love’. His remix is dynamic and spirited. It’s purely instrumental. It provides a fitting end to the EP. Recondite’s style complements Hunter/Game’s original work.
The ‘Last Hour’ EP showcases Hunter/Game’s evolving sound. It builds on their previous success. Collaborations are key to this release. Ramverk’s input adds a new dimension to Hunter/Game’s production. Recondite’s remix brings a fresh perspective. It reinterprets Hunter/Game’s work through a different lens.
Just This continues to champion innovative electronic music. This EP is another strong addition to their catalog.
Hunter/Game’s productivity is noteworthy. This is their second EP in two months.
The duo’s ability to craft emotive, dancefloor-friendly tracks is clear. Each piece on ‘Last Hour’ demonstrates this skill.

Introducing MathMan

Adam Fogarty, also known as MathMan, has been at the forefront of pushing UK Rave sounds in Dublin for years. A versatile producer known for his work in breakbeat, UK garage, and jungle, MathMan recently released his album SK83 (The Prequel) on vinyl via his own imprint Weapon Of Choice. 
The album itself is stacked with a wide variety of genres and features including Ayah Marar and Blak Diamon. SK83 (The Prequel) is not just an album of club singles, but a concept piece that takes a nostalgic journey through the sounds of Dublin in the year 1998 – delivered with contemporary finesse. With his sights set on nurturing the Irish bass music scene and releasing more compelling music, MathMan is a unique producer due to his Dublin upbringing and his continued commitment to producing art.
We had the pleasure of sitting down with him to discuss the intricacies of his new album, the challenges of releasing music independently, and the state of bass music in Ireland.
Before we delve into it. What does SK83 (The Prequel) mean? And how do I say it? Is it Skate Three?
I never thought of pronouncing it like that. It’s Pronounced S.K.83. How it’s spelt out. In terms of what it means, as much as I’d love to tell you, I won’t give it away exactly. It’s very personal, but I like the fact that it can be kept as a mystery. 
Will we ever find out what it means in the future?
Possibly. I’m not against it.  If people really want to know I can let them know, but for now there’s no need. The meaning does unfold throughout the wider meaning of the entire album. This is only the prequel so it’s meaning hasn’t been revealed yet. People can attach their own meaning to it over time. 
Sounds good. So, in a time of algorithms, singles coming out every week from artists and almost 100 thousand tracks uploaded to Spotify a day, why did you decide to go for an album?
For two reasons. I’m from a generation where albums mattered. I care about a body of work from an artist. Taking a journey through an album; or four or five albums from an artist, allows you to paint a wider and larger picture of where you’re at, rather than you can with a bunch of singles. Music these days is incredibly transient and it’s a terrible thing. Without sounding too egotistical, I like that people can sit with a body of work and let it sink in. 
The second reason is that, what’s expected of artists these days isn’t right. Because of this Tik Tok generation and the transient nature of music, we’re not valuing the depth that artists go to. Music and art are not singularly a commodity; they are meant to move cultural movements forward. I don’t like popular playlists that change every week. If my music fails because of it, then I don’t care. I’d rather deliver my art on my own terms rather than to platforms that aren’t going to support me anyway.
Ironically, this album was meant to be released on two different labels, but both deals fell through because they wanted me to split it up. The first label wanted to split it up into two Eps and the second wanted to split it up into singles, which commercially makes a lot of sense, but I just didn’t want the overall project to be delivered that way. 
That sounds like a tough decision to make. 
I think it’s probably something that a lot of artists deal with. What it comes down to is what you are prepared to accept and what works for you. Just for me, it wasn’t right.
Did the idea of releasing it over a long period of time put you off as you would have to be constantly promoting and pushing out more content?
The main thing was that the album wouldn’t have translated as well as singles. I don’t enjoy the social media side of things, but not enough that it would deter me from making art. The social media promotion is just a biproduct of where we’re at in music. I know I have to engage with it to a certain degree, and I don’t enjoy it, but that will never stop me from putting out music.
What was it like releasing independently for a physical and digital release? 
I suppose it’s similar to any independent release. There’s a long run-in to bring it to life. It was stressful. Unfortunately, the pressing plant I initially went with, Dublin Vinyl, who I’d worked with previously went into liquidation three months before the release date. So that knocked out timelines, events, pop-ups, launch parties, and the digital release. All of it got messed up. I’m a one-man team – both as the artist and head of the label, so all the spinning plates came crashing down. With the help of a couple of people behind the scenes, we were able to get it back on track, but we missed every single deadline, and it ended up costing so much more money. It went arseways, but we got there in the end.
I absolutely love the artwork. Who did it and what’s the story behind it?
An Irish photographer named Jacobi Hoff. I’ve admired his work for some time. This particular piece is set in suburban Dublin during a particular era. Working with Jacobi really brought the SK83 universe to life with the visuals. I put together some short narrative-based videos to help promote the album. It’s really important that all the artists who help you get your work out there are acknowledged and compensated.
Let’s get into the music. Is it a concept album?
It certainly is. It is a concept album that tells a story from beginning to end. It’s intentionally nostalgic in it’s sound. The sonic palette harkens back to that era, but is delivered in a contemporary style. It’s meant to evoke the late jungle era. I was trying to capture Dublin in 1998 where the story takes place. Although it’s rooted in club music, the underlying theme of this album a love story, which is a universal theme – and frankly, we’ve all been there. 
What’s your favourite track?
I have two. First is ‘Young Hearts’ and then ‘Friends Are First’. Both of those songs are the emotional manifestation of what I was trying to capture. The mood and the feeling of what it felt like to be in those moments. ‘Young Hearts’ is a story about being young and in love – exciting and scary. ‘Friends Are First’ is on the back end of the album, where the love story really starts to reveal itself. With those two tracks, I feel like I got the emotions to where I wanted them to be.
The way you talk about your music is very much like how a songwriter talks about music rather than a producer.
I think for these projects certainly. For these albums or bodies of work, they are designed and written as songs. They’re interconnected and tell a story about falling in and out of love. When I’m making club tunes, I side-step the artist side of things.
What was that process like? How long have you been working on this album?
I began around 2020, just over COVID. I was able to connect with some brilliant artists over that time. I feel like this is a story that has lived with me for years. It took about 12-18 months at most to finish.
You did a collaboration with Ayah Marar called Home, how did that come to be?
I’ve been a huge fan of hers in every capacity. As a singer-songwriter, DJ, live MC, everything. She has a really good voice in the bass music scene, at all levels and across genres. She represents all that’s good with it. I always thought it would be cool to work with her and during COVID, I had this song that I thought she would be incredible on. Initially I reached out to her just on a conversational basis then when I had this song I just asked if she’d have a listen and she loved it. We took it from there. 
What’s Home about?
‘Home’ is about the idea of home and what that means to people. It’s not just a place, but a feeling. Home can be a group of people or a community. We discussed this idea, and I couldn’t be happier with it. Ayah’s got the huge vocal but also the authenticity in the lyrics and the songwriting side, which is really important.
Tell us about Weapon of Choice.
Weapon of Choice has been around since 2016. It lived in various guises. The first release was a collaboration with Hypnotic Brass Ensemble. It was all hip-hop then. Up until this point, the label was just a home for my artist output. It’s meant to be a conduit for bass music in its entirety, whether it’s jungle, drum & bass, breakbeat, grime. All of that lives in a family tree that’s rooted in many things. I think it’s important that there’s a label that supports that so it’s not just house and techno. There was a label that would put on nights in Dublin called Bassbin who were a big inspiration. They did incredible work pushing drum & bass in Ireland. There has to be an evolution that supports bass music coming out of Ireland.
Will Weapon of Choice be putting out other artists?
I think as the label grows, that would be the ambition. I have people sending me music every week, but it’s just that I don’t have the time or resources. I want to be someone who nurtures the bass music scene in Ireland. In time.
UKG and Breakbeat are having their moment in Ireland. Let’s talk a bit about that.
Playing bass music in Ireland for as long as I have, you’re always playing for half the room. Bass music, whether it was breaks, garage, or drum & bass, has always been  niche. However, where we’re at right now, I think that the Irish club-goer is so enthusiastic about everything these days. The palette for electronic music is so much wider. We have so many artists and producers making music that were once fringe genres. The whole thing is growing and becoming more and more healthy. The Irish music fan is definitely more open-minded now.
What’s next for MathMan?
I’m trying to push this album. SK83 (The Prequel) is basically the beginning. In total, this project will be a 3 album series. The second album is written, ready, mixed, and mastered. Part II should come by year end. I’m really happy and excited to get that out there.

[WATCH] Tiësto Walks You Down Memory Lane At Kappa FuturFestival

This one is bound to get you moving.
Have a look at this! All the way from Turin, Italy, this may become the perfect soundtrack to kick off the week. Dance icon Tiësto played an hour-and-a-half set over there, for the annual festival that has turned into one of the boot-shaped country’s most awaited gatherings, Kappa FuturFestival.
On the hours that succeeded the upload of the set — which can be replayed in its entirety and in up to 4K resolution — people all over the internet expressed their awe and openly shared how much they liked the journey Tiësto drew this time. In particular, because he’s seen having a longer slot to express himself, and going down a memory lane kind of route.
Some Of The Gems Played
Among the long tracklist, we spotted some true gems, such as Tijs’ very own ‘Lethal Industry‘, Departmento’s Progressive Trance revamp of ‘Rhythm Is A Dancer‘, Rui Da Silva’s timeless ‘Touch Me‘, Wippenberg’s ‘Pong‘, and even Hardwell’s hit ‘Spaceman‘ and a defining track of the pre-2010s era of Dance music, ‘Strobe‘ by deadmau5.
Without a doubt, this is one set you cannot miss, and even if you used to be a diehard fan of Tiësto and fell out of love when he changed genres, this one has some gifts for you. Give it a try. It makes us wonder what this man can achieve when in the right mindset, which, in this case, was borderline marvellous.

Avicii’s “Fade into Darkness” Anniversary: A Light That Never Dims

As we commemorate the 13th anniversary of Avicii‘s infamous song ‘Fade into Darkness’,  it seems fitting to reflect on the lasting influence this song has had on both music lovers and the industry as a whole. With its upbeat tune and hauntingly beautiful lyrics, this 2011 release remains a testament to Avicii‘s unique ability to combine enticing melodies and profound emotions.
From the opening lines, ‘Looking up there’s always sky, Rest your head, I’ll take you high’,  Avicii sets a tone of comfort and reassurance. These lyrics serve as a beacon of hope, a promise that even in the darkest times, there is always a glimmer of light to guide us. The repeated refrain, ‘We won’t fade into darkness’,  reinforces this message of resilience and perseverance​.
The song’s metaphorical use of darkness alludes to the prevalent issues and challenges that we face in life. The song showcases Avicii’s ability to incorporate a variety of musical influences into his work and is based on a sample from Penguin Cafe Orchestra‘s ‘Perpetuum Mobile’. This song demonstrates both his musical brilliance and his capacity to resonate with audiences all over the world.​
‘Fade into Darkness’ gains poignancy from Avicii‘s untimely passing in 2018, turning it into a permanent tribute to his spirit and the solace he offered via his music. The song’s themes of resilience and optimism speak to us much more now, serving as a constant reminder of the light he brought into the world and the comfort his music still provides. It’s a heartbreaking experience to listen to ‘Fade into Darkness’ now since it captures the essence of Avicii‘s message of tenacity and artistic talent.

ISOxo, Zedd, Shaq and More Light Up Escapade Music Festival 2024

The organizers of Escapade have wrapped up yet another dazzling music festival in Ottawa.
Scheduled from June 21-23, the massive fest once again captured the hearts of Canada’s loyal dance music crowd throughout its first two days and nights. Unfortunately, unsafe site conditions due to heavy rain forced organizers to cancel Escapade’s third and final day, prioritizing the safety of attendees, artists and staff.
A special "No Redemption" set from Tchami and Malaa was one of the first day’s highlights, alongside DJ Diesel’s traveling festival brand, "Shaq's Bass All-Stars," which hosted a special stage takeover. The first day’s lineup also included sets from emerging superstars such as ISOxo, Knock2, Mau P and EDM.com Class of 2024 trailblazers Levity as well as performances by dance music icons Zedd and Steve Angello.

Headlined by FISHER, ILLENIUM and Steve Aoki, Escapade’s second day was equally as impressive. Exciting dubstep and bass music acts like Ganja White Night, OddKidOut and Tape B took the decks alongside a wide array of stars including Chase & Status, ACRAZE, Maddix, Vini Vici, Lucas & Steve and more.
Following the unfortunate cancellation of Escapade’s final day, organizers swiftly issued an official announcement to provide clarity and information regarding refunds.
"We definitely understand the disappointment and emotions and share in your frustration," the statement reads, "however, the unpredictable nature of the weather left us with no choice but to prioritize safety above all else."
As a result of the cancellation, billed artists who didn’t end up performing included Armin van Buuren, The Chainsmokers, Claptone, GG Magree, James Hype, Kayzo, MORTEN, SLANDER and Subtronics, among others.
It remains to be seen what organizers have in store to make up for the lost day in 2025, but considering their pedigree, fans of the fest can expect a huge rebound. You can keep a pulse via Escapade's website.

In an intimate interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, Summit opened up about the new album while reflecting on the duality of his life as a musician.
"The whole theme of this is duality," Summit explained. "I've lived two lifestyles—being at home in the studio my myself as comfortable as possible. And then being on stage, which is the chaos."
Financial security was another key topic Summit addressed, reflecting on his humble beginnings and unlikely journey from CPA to world-touring DJ.
"The only thing I ever want in life is financial independence because I come from normal middle class background and I worked the accounting job," he explained. "And the reason why I took that job is just for financial security, so that's everyone. Because then when I went and did this fulltime, I was very broke living in my parents' basement. That's how I produced literally 300 records during 2020."
The conversation also touched on the addiction to success and finding a balance. Summit emphasized the importance of having a clear vision and not getting lost in the pursuit of more.
"You can get addicted to success," Summit said. "And I know a lot of people, and I don't want to name names, but they just keep adding business after business or do a venture and they just keep expanding and kind of losing a vision... I could just do everything and I have offers to do everything, but I did have to sit back and figure out where I actually want to go in life, what I want to be able to look back on. Because I do want to slow down one day. I do want to have family and stuff. I want to be a normal person and there's a lot of DJs that... sacrifice that."

Chris Ramos Opens Up About Return and Mesmerizing Debut Album, "Evolution"

Chris Ramos has created a dance music opus in his debut album, Evolution.
Ramos’ early career was driven by a number of singles signed to then-emerging powerhouse label Monstercat, as well as a prestigious collaboration with the influential duo Tritonal, among other notable releases. Evolution marks his first release in eight years following a lengthy hiatus of healing and self-discovery.
Spanning 13 tracks, Evolution is an expansive project, effortlessly traversing between various dance music genres, from progressive house and dance-pop to drum & bass and techno. Featuring a sizable list of featured artists and producers, the album showcases his collaborative spirit while spotlighting his unique experience as a dance music veteran.
"Underwater" kicks off the project with its uplifting melodic techno production and anthemic vocals before tracks like the organic “Pushin” and the gritty “Mike Tyson” continue the sonic journey. An uplifting drum & bass anthem, “Bad For Ya” is an undisputed highlight while “Liars Say” wraps the album on a melancholic note with its downtempo production and mesmerizing synths.
We caught up with Ramos to chat about the album as well as his extended break from releasing music and future plans.
EDM.com: Evolution marks your first release in eight years. What led you to the decision to take this extended break?
Chris Ramos: It has been a minute! There are multiple reasons connected to the long break, but the root cause was mental health and the need to better myself. Looking back, I grew up with anxiety and ADHD but didn’t fully understand it. As I got older, and things started picking up, the anxiety didn’t get any better… it only escalated. I put a lot of pressure on myself, and without the right mindset and control, it can unfortunately become a little toxic.
I slowly went from loving the process and journey of an artist/DJ, from the exciting pre-show jitters, to losing a hold of my anxious thoughts. Once it started ruining the fun and dimming the passion, I knew I needed to make the tough call and take a break. Club residencies, records playing at festivals, being played on the radio… I had to put it all on pause. I also had still a lot to learn musically/technically, and just needed to grow as a person.
EDM.com: What kept you busy throughout all these years?
Chris Ramos: The long break turned into a blessing in disguise! From the life experiences and lessons learned, to the production and sound engineering skills that I’ve further developed… It has really been great. I also started a record label during the pandemic, which catapulted both passion and purpose, and opened my eyes to a whole other side of the music industry.
Developing artists and releasing their music is a whole other ballgame. Helping and inspiring others has become one of my most favorite things, and the energy exchange between artists is like nothing else. Traveling to Europe, Los Angeles and Costa Rica brought in inspiration, new perspectives and some really cool vibes. And I also worked on music for some of the biggest brands and video games out there, which really pushed me out of my comfort zone and gave me new ways to approach my own music.
EDM.com: Walk us through the creation of this album–how did the process of making it look like?
Chris Ramos: Where do I start? Its funny because in my head I feel like I began making this album maybe a year ago, but in reality its been in development since 2020. I just didn’t know it yet. I’ve written songs about my life experience, and let them guide me into their final form. Everything has felt natural and smooth, pouring myself into every aspect.
“Underwater” is essentially about me seeing myself drowning underwater, at rock bottom, and pulling myself out. “Bad For Ya” is about a traumatic breakup, with the writing inspired by her perspective… I wrote and sang it not too long after the experience, so there is quite a lot of raw emotion behind that recording. “Out Of My Head” hits the post-breakup experience pretty well, and even “Hypnotherapy” plays on giving so much of yourself that you lose sight of who you really are.
I’m grateful for the amazing team that has collaborated with me on these records too! Dani Doucette really hit the money and emotion on her records, and her energy is always amazing to be around. MXJ brought their fun Afro vibes and really pushed my drum work to another level. S_Zero and I really merged our styles and showed what a seamless collaboration looks like, while Joe McCann pushed the experimental envelope, inspiring me to push things further with a “Spanglish” vocal. Together they have all inspired and pushed me to be better, and made the journey of this album even more enjoyable.
EDM.com: You have a very hands-on approach to creating art, from singing and producing to mastering and creating visual art for your records. What does the process of learning to do things yourself mean to you?
Chris Ramos: There’s two sides to every coin. In this case, I would say that learning to do so much myself has manifested for a couple of reasons: first, this is what happens when you love to learn new things, have ADHD, and strive to perfect whatever you’re doing. Secondly, a lot of it has come out of necessity.
Making music, real high-quality music, doesn’t come cheap, nor does it always come quick. And unless you have a massive budget and team to back you, its not easy to truly thrive. Studio costs, engineers, singers/writers, musicians, producers, graphic designers, etc… I love being creative, and have the capacity to do all of these things, so why not work my rear end off and become good at it! And the singing part… I’ve always been shy about singing, but as a recording engineer, I’ve heard from so many singers that I need to start recording myself more and sing on more music. So I decided f*ck it, this is my time to be me, and do what feels right. I love to sing, jam out, and make music. Rather than hold back, its time to showcase my real self to the world.
EDM.com: What are some of your favorite tracks from Evolution and how do they fit within the whole narrative of the record?
Chris Ramos: Can I answer another question? Haha. This is tough, I love all 13 records here. My top record would have to be Underwater. Being that it is about pulling myself from the depths, and this album is about my personal evolution coming from the shadows, it really sets the tone for the whole record.
"Out Of My Head" was a fun one to make. I envision Hans Zimmer collaborating with MEDUZA, with Eric Prydz adding some sizzle on top. I got to bring out my score experience in this one, and merging that world with electronic dance music was a fun challenge I set out for myself.
"Hypnotherapy" was one of the quickest and most natural projects here. It’s definitely a little linked to my ADHD with the flips and changeups, but thats really what I love about that record. And Dani’s dreamy vocals of course. Such a bop all around.
"Breakdown" and "Mike Tyson" are the more aggressive records, releasing built up aggression after an epic crescendo, and playing off of my martial arts background respectively.
And all of the collabs were so much fun to make. They really inspired me to continue to push myself.
EDM.com: Your debut single dates back to 2010. When did you start making music and what has that evolution looked like for you?
Chris Ramos: Let’s start at the beginning. My parents saw that I loved playing piano as a baby, so they quickly put me into piano lessons at age 3. At 13 I was graciously gifted my first real keyboard, which had a built-in sequencer. Little did my family know that I’d soon start recording ideas, experimenting with loops, and begin making tracks [laughs]. I grew up with all types of music around me, but my mom would play dance, trance and Euro when working out and I loved the energy and emotion behind it. Tiesto, Robert Miles, Global Deejays, Ace Of Base, Basshunter…I was hooked. By age 16, I became really passionate about making this a career, and that same year I signed my first record deal with a small label out of Miami. My passion to be in this industry was solidified.
From there, I went on to learn to DJ and started playing all-ages events throughout Toronto. At age 20 I had my first record on the radio, was playing clubs, and started to hold residencies at some of the best venues in the city. Music seems to have always come naturally to me, and it will forever flow through my veins.
EDM.com: What have been some of your favorite career moments so far, and what can fans expect from you throughout the rest of 2024 and beyond?
Chris Ramos: There have been so many fun moments, it’s truly an exciting career and industry to be a part of. Opening for Porter Robinson and Madeon have to be some of my favorite shows to ever play. The vibes were on point and the crowds amazing.
Hearing my name for the first time on my favorite radio station was surreal. I was driving at the time, and almost crashed my mother’s car haha!
Collaborating with Tritonal was an absolute dream. Being a fan of theirs, and hearing they wanted to collaborate on my record “This Is Love” was such an honor. They are such fun guys, and I could have never expected such an epic response. We charted on Billboard’s Hot Dance charts, broke Beatport’s top 100 overall, hit my first ever million streams, and we were played in every major dance music festival in the world. To make things even more surreal, Darude came to the fold and remixed the record! Such a legend. What an experience.
Looking ahead, fans can expect a whole lot more from me. This album is not just about my personal evolution, but about me coming back from the shadows, with full force catapulting myself forward. Expect more music, epic content, and soon live shows. No more holding myself back. It’s time to bring all the feels to the world.

Anyma NYE Performance Confirmed as Vegas Sphere's First-Ever Electronic Music Show

Back in September, we published a list of electronic music artists who simply must perform at the Vegas Sphere. One of them, Anyma, will soon become the first.
The superstar Italian DJ, who also co-founded the barnstorming Afterlife label and touring brand, yesterday shared a cryptic teaser of a performance at the $2.3 billion venue. In it, he stares down a humanoid robot as he stands in a barren desert with a structure in the distance resembling the colossal Sphere.
The rare concert has now been confirmed by Sphere Entertainment, the venue's proprietors. It will be the first electronic music show at the record-breaking Sphere, the world's largest spherical structure, which will host Anyma for a performance on December 31st. That means he's set to become the first EDM artist to perform in the Sphere's arena after residencies featuring a quartet of legendary rock bands: U2, Phish, Dead & Company and The Eagles.

The Sphere's inner sanctum projects mind-boggling graphics on the world's largest- and highest-resolution wraparound LED screen, which wraps over and behind the crowd. To that end, the venue presents a mouthwatering experience for fans of Anyma, whose live shows have become a touchstone for immersive visual production within the electronic dance music community.
Anyma's esteemed Visual Director, Alessio De Vecchi, was named EDM.com's best visual artist of 2023 for his haunting, transhumanist approach to design.
Those visuals will be the focal point of the show inside the Sphere, which has enough cutting-edge tech specs to make James Cameron's Avatar look like a flip-book animation. Its LED media plane spans 160,000 square feet—equivalent to four football fields—and uses puzzling scientific theorems to "direct sound like laser beams" across the audience bowl. The multi-sensory venue also has an immersive infrasound seating system rigged with haptics that transmit 4D wind effects and bass to your chair and feet.
The NYE concert is billed as "The End of Genesys," a reference to Anyma's audiovisual brand and tour of the same name. His stunning debut album, which released in March, also shares the "Genesys" title.
"The inclusion of special guests will highlight the concluding performance of 'Genesys,' according to Sphere Entertainment.
Presale registration for tickets to the show is available now. The pre-sale will begin on Monday, July 22nd at 9am PT before the general on-sale the following day at the same time.
