BICEP’s Matt McBriar Undergoes Surgery for Brain Tumor

Sending best recovery wishes to Matt McBriar of BICEP! In late 2023, Matt began experiencing intense localized headaches and unusual fatigue. Blood test taken from this Spring revealed a “large, and pretty rare Craniopharyngioma tumour on my pituitary gland”.
Fortunately, it’s not cancerous and was detected early, preventing potential damage to his eyesight and other problems. He underwent successful surgery on August 9th and is now recovering in the hospital! Recovery will take about 6-8 weeks with some monitoring after that timeframe has passed. In the meantime, Andy Ferguson, the other member of BICEP, will continue performing while Matt recovers.

Here’s Everything Google Announced at Its Pixel Event

While Google remains a monopoly in terms of search engine, it has battled both Apple and Samsung in technology since the beginning of smartphones. Will the tide turn around after Google’s latest announcement? The macro company revealed a new series of Pixel devices on Made by Google’s Hardware event. The category is choices! The new Pixel 9 smartphones come in 4 different sizes, besides two different Pixel 3 Watches and Pixel Buds Pro 2.
Not Just Hardware
Multiple announcements took place on this event. This includes new softwares powered by Google’s Gemini large language models. It seems like the company wanted to get a head start from the holiday rush and enjoy the spotlight before Apple announces the new iPhone 16 during their yearly September event.
Pixel 9 Series
The new models offer a wide array of options, from the Pixel 9, to a smaller Pixel 9 Pro or the larger Pixel 9 Pro XL. The phones also include stylistic changes including a pill-shaped elongated bar for the back camera. How demure! The front camera includes smaller bezels around it as well. In terms of durability, Google claims this phones are twice as durable as the Pixel 8 series, wrapped in shatter-resistant Gorilla Glass Victus 2. These devices make an ecological statement using a 100% recyclable aluminum fram, versus the titanium used on the iPhone 15 Pro or the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. The charging seems to be boosted as well with 20% more durability to the Pixel 8 counterparts. However, they do not support the fast wireless charging Qi2, so the slower Qi wireless charging will do.
The Pixel 9 enjoys the power from the Tensor G4 processor with 12GB of RAM. However, the Pro model has 16GB. Google explains that the processor is 20% faster and app launching improved by 17%. On another note, the phones are designed to store large language models on device, a first. Specifically, they are made to run the Gemini Nano with multimodality. AI is taking over! As this will not only support text, but speech, images, audio, and live chat with the Gemini bot for real-time voice conversations.
Pixel 9 Vs Pixel 9 Pro
According to Google, the biggest difference between the regular model and the pro model is the camera quality and the optical quality zoom that the Pro devices offer, up to 10x the zoom in power. The claims dig further into the autofocus sensor improvement on the Pro models and 30% better light sensitivity. Do you think it’s worth it? The public will need to test out the claims for sure.
Both phones will receive updates every 7 years. Moreover, Google claims buyers from the Pixel 9 Pro or Pro XL will get a full year of the Google One AI Premium Plan for free. This, includes 2 terabytes of cloud storage and access to Gemini Advanced. Pixel 9 costs $799 while the Pro costs $999 and the XL version is $100 more. Interestingly enough, the devices run with Android 14 instead of 15.
Pixel 9 Pro Fold
The 8 inch foldable phone is optimized to run apps smoothly, with all the perks its pro sibling has. The internal screen is also brighter than past series of the Fold phones. Furthermore, Google made it a point that the Pixel 9 Pro fold is super thin, and weights less than the original Pixel Fold, skinny legend! However, the camera lacks the prowess of the Pixel 9 Pro single screen siblings. The Fold costs an astonishing $1799, which includes a $300 store credit and a free year with Google One AI Premium Plan.
New Apps and Services
The new Pixel 9 series enjoys the power of running with AI, this includes how you interact with the apps, and how the AI reads the information so you don’t have to scroll endlessly to find what you need. New apps include the weather app, screenshots app, studio apps for creating AI images, and “Call notes”. The Pixel 9 models will be the first Androids with the Satellite SOS, which finds your emergency contacts through Satellite when you’re away from wi-fi or a cell tower. Regardless, the service requires separate purchase and will only work in the US for now.
Pixel Watch 3
Now you can get a 41mm or 45mm Pixel Watch! These watches enjoy some of the brightest screens in the industry, but can go as low as 1 nit. The watches continue the 24-hour battery life trend with permament display, and 20% faster charging from past models. The watch connects to live camera feeds from other google devices in your home and improve camera usage with your Pixel Phone. The watch also has several fitness usages for tracking your progress. The watch can also assess your form while sensing your movement and learning from the machines and exercises you do. The larger watch is $399 with wi-fi or $499 with LTE, while the smaller watch is $50 less.
The Pixel Buds Pro 2
The new buds seem to the an expansion of the 1st ones. More silencing power, lighter, and AI powered voluem change that detects when you’re speaking. The Pixel Buds Pro 2 are definitely the way to go for Android devices. The buds will go on sale for $229.

Kylie Minogue and The Blessed Madonna Drop Liberating Weekend Anthem, "Edge of Saturday Night"

Coaxing even the most reluctant souls to embrace the highs of the weekend, The Blessed Madonna has joined forces with dance-pop icon Kylie Minogue for a new single, "Edge Of Saturday Night."

Due out on October 11th, the album comprises 24 tracks and includes collaborations with A-Trak, Joy Anonymous and house music icon Jamie Principle, among others.
"Godspeed: the word marks the beginning of a journey and sometimes the end of one," The Blessed Madonna said in a statement. "After nearly a year in lockdown, when I signed the paperwork and knew that I was going to be allowed to make this album, I called my dad in Kentucky to tell him the good news. He could not contain his pride and in a way his relief. I was going to be ok. He says it better than I do at the beginning of the record. I lost him suddenly just weeks before the first session, but his voice will live in Godspeed forever and make a million more journeys to everyone who hears it."

The North Face Climbs New Heights with Brooklyn Bridge Park Festival

The North Face is set to redefine the climbing experience with its inaugural Climb Festival, taking place on August 23-24, 2024, at Brooklyn Bridge Park Pier 5. This two-day event will be a thrilling blend of athleticism, music, and community.
At the heart of the festival is a 55-foot climbing wall, challenging participants to test their limits in a unique, deep-water setting. Professional climbers like Alex Honnold and Chris Sharma will be on hand to inspire and entertain the crowd.
Beyond the climbing wall, attendees can enjoy a variety of activities, including panel discussions on climbing culture, bouldering walls courtesy of Movement Gyms, and a curated selection of food trucks. To top it off, live performances by culture-driven experiential producers Renegade, a lineup of DJs, including Las Flaquitas, Eden, Toribio, and Cosmo, will provide the perfect soundtrack for the event.

Quite the stellar combination this one. The Italian project, which consists of Andrea Di Ceglie and Luigi Tutolo, released a new remix today. This remix is exactly what you need to get over the mid-week hump. ‘Nothing Ever Changes – Agents Of Time Remix‘ is out today.
A staple name inside the melodic techno scene, Agents of Time appear to have made a great choice on this remix. The sound that has defined Vintage Culture’s latest years could very well be called a combination of melodic and tech house. Led by rolling basses, big synths, and ethereal vocals, it’s all a big recipe for an ideal melodic techno remix.
Nothing Ever Changes: Melodic Techno Edition
An outstanding remix. Led by a beautiful synth, perfectly paired up with the vocals provided by MAGNUS. Yet another great job by what’s becoming one of our favorite Italian duos. Agents of Time are one of the few artists who’ve managed to maintain a groove while not letting go of the grandiose feeling melodic techno tracks have. This makes their releases some of the most enjoyable out there.
With their new take on Vintage Culture’s latest track, the duo behind some of the biggest hits in Afterlife and other huge melodic techno labels brings a mainstage version that could easily do as the closing track for any festival set. An unreal, goosebumps-giving track, and one of our favorite releases of the month.
A great remix, and one that will most definitely take over the last stretch of the festival season. A season filled with exciting releases and unreal remixes.

Elements Becomes Best Festival In Northeast After 2024 Edition

Elements Music Festival has my heart after this year’s edition. I cannot say enough good things about this festival and it is amazing to see a great festival in the Northeast once again. If you are from this region, you know we do not have much. And what we do have gets taken away from us. We usually have to go to great lengths and travel on a plane for an amazing experience. After my first Elements, I can confidently say I will be back year after year.
Now Elements has been around for many years but I never could make the trip to Pennsylvania. It has expanded year after year in both its lineup and size. It sits roughly 2 hours away from both NYC and Philadelphia. The festival is situated next to the Poconos Raceway in the middle of the forest allowing them to go late into the night. And the afters go late into the morning (prepare yourself for sunrise sets)!
This weekend was special in many ways. I met some of the most lovely people and feel we will be friends for years to come. Hurricane Debby tried to bring us down the first 2 days but the ravers united for an incredible last 2 days filled with sunshine and love. As for the festival grounds, there were 4 beautiful stages of music. They represented all the elements of life Fire, Earth, Water, and Air.
Elements Music Festival features dance music and its culture at its finest. You will have a new family at the end and be ready to do it all again.

Tucked away in the Pennsylvania forest, Elements sits right next to Poconos Raceway in Long Pond. The location could not be more perfect. Elements has a very unique twist on camping called Vibe Villages. They do have Glamping and GA Camping as well. But what makes Vibe Villages stand out is the after-parties. If you can get a group of 10+ people the festival will establish a zone for you to set up your camp. I was fortunate to be in a 40-person (shoutout to Chaos Council) camp which allowed us to have ample room for activities, hanging, and sleeping.
But back to the afters. The festival will sanction some of the camps to build stages for afters and play from right after the festival ends to sunrise. These stages are impressive! Walking around the campsite you will be in awe that they are built by the community just looking to keep the party going. In addition, there are art cars that roam around allowing people to hop on and off and enjoy music on the move. This unique feature maybe Elements stand out from any other fest I have been to so far.

I thoroughly enjoyed all 4 official stages within the fest plus all the mini ones. The Fire stage was the main stage so to speak holding the most amount of people. It had fire exploding out of it at all times and an impressive fireworks show every night. It also had this really cool fire tent to warm people up when it got a tad chilly at night.
Fire Stage featured primarily House with Chris Lake B2B Cloonee, Dr.Fresch, Fly With Us (AC Slater and Chris Lorenzo), Walker & Royce, and so many others rocking the stage. My favorite sets of the weekend happened here with Chris Lake and Cloonee having me move for 2+ hours.
The next biggest stage was Earth which featured all the Bass music you needed + live bands. Excision, Subtronics, LSDream, The Floozies, and others had the festival thrusting and bending their minds. The Earth had the best visuals out of any stage with its trippy outlines and multitude of lasers.
The water stage was the most impressive design in the shape of an octopus. At night it came to life with lasers shooting out of its eyes. It featured a diverse lineup across Bass, DnB, and Techno. Subtronics (sunset), Sub Focus, Dimension, and Sara Landry graced this stage and had the people moving. Dimension was my 2nd favorite set of the weekend and could not recommend him more.
Finally, the Air stage was by far the coolest one. It is built right into the forest as a Pagoda. It has tree houses surrounding the area allowing lucky enough attendees to get a bird’s eye view. Bob Moses, It’s Murph, Township Rebellion, and Slander (Before Dawn) had the forest dancing all night long.

I don’t usually comment on the food at a festival because it tends to be subpar, but man Elements had the best festival food I have ever had. It wasn’t terribly pricey and they had an incredible amount of options for both meat eaters like myself and vegetarians. There were unique options from Birria Quesadillas to chicken and waffles to huge flavorful wraps. I rarely ever waited in line to long either.
Also, there were a ton of water stations!! You can never have enough water stations and I was so happy to see this.

As stated before, I met some of the loveliest people of my life at Elements. Everyone was beyond nice and I didn’t see a hint of negativity or fights throughout the festival. This is also coming right after Hurricane Debby straight-up ruined the first 2 days of the fest (along with my tent and canopy lol). That did not keep anyone down, people still went hard and shared love it all. Hugs were everywhere and random compliments were of plenty. The afterglow from Elements was as real as it gets.
There is no question I will be back at Long Pond next year and hopefully up there playing as well. While Elements is not officially the best festival in the northeast (for now) I have declared the honor in my view. I know it will keep getting bigger and bigger and attracting talent and ravers from around the world.

Inglewood Mayor Cracks Down on Loud Events After HARD Summer Complaints

HARD Summer 2024, held at the Hollywood Park Complex in SoFi Stadium, attracted thousands of electronic music fans with performances from top acts like Disclosure, Major Lazer, and Sofi Tukker. However, the event also sparked a wave of noise complaints from residents, including those as far as El Segundo, prompting swift action from Inglewood city officials.
Mayor James T. Butts Jr. responded quickly to the complaints, noting that the noise issues began during soundchecks on August 2. Unlike previous concerts at the venue, this event caused significant disturbances due to specific bass frequencies. After investigating, city officials identified these frequencies as the primary cause of the excessive noise and vibrations that affected the community.
As a result, Mayor Butts decided to ban future events from setting up stages in the American Airlines Plaza, which was the main source of the problem. He stressed the need for stricter sound management and engineering to avoid similar issues in the future.
To address the situation during the festival, the city implemented several adjustments, including deploying additional sound engineers to manage noise levels in real time. These efforts led to a significant reduction in complaints by the second day of the event. Moving forward, Inglewood plans to enforce stricter monitoring and sound-level controls to protect the surrounding community during future events.

iPhone 17 Air Coming for Those Who Prefer Looks Over Performance

Apple’s high-end version of the iPhone – the iPhone 17 Air is in the works. Now, this version has sparked confusing thoughts as it is marketed as a device for those that prefer looks over performance. We know that the device sits between the standard and Pro models. Additionally, rumors say it might be priced higher than both variants. Said to be thinner, the iPhone 17 Air will “not boast amazing specifications” as its predecessors. But perhaps those wishing for an aesthetically pleasing handheld should keep an eye on this model though.
What’s more, the iPhone 16 lineup is shaping up to be a great successor to the iPhone 15 lineup. All thanks to its new Capture Button and camera hardware improvements. However, the company also has a lot more in store for users on the software front as well. That includes Apple Intelligence and the new chips enabling AI utilities.
What We Know About the 17 Lineup
All four 17 models come with an LTPO display so ProMotion can make its way to the standard version of the iPhone. They’ll also boast 120Hz refresh rate, 12GB of RAM and a triple-lens camera setup. Upgraded sensors and internals like the A19 Pro provide enhanced computational and graphical performance.

Unfortunately, rumors make this version comparable to the specifications of the iPhone SE 4. Again, this version is not meant to replace the 17 Plus version but merely offers a standalone device with the selling point of design. No further details on this model have been released so we shall have to wait.

Defected Records Founder Simon Dunmore: "Festival Lineups Have Been Stagnating"

Simon Dunmore, the influential founder of Defected Records, has opened up about the cookie-cutter nature of today's electronic music festival lineups.
Many would argue that dance music's cutting edge has gone dull, blunted by years of recycled festival rosters. Dunmore, who in July 2022 sold his label to its former CEO Wez Saunders, took to Threads to discuss this phenomenon and the urgency for new artists to "challenge the monopoly of the established hierarchy."
"Festival line ups have been stagnating 4 yrs, w the same 50 acts on rinse & repeat," Dunmore wrote. "New talent needs 2 break through 2 challenge the monopoly of the established hierarchy?"
He then lauded Keinemusik and ANOTR, a pair of red-hot house music acts, as trailblazers uprooting the trend.

Whether or not the festival scene is in need of a shake-up is subjective, but the conversation has only continued to swell in recent years. Booking the same artists ad nauseam ensures a reliable draw and satisfies longtime fans who look forward to seeing their favorites, but the approach often leads to a homogenized experience that strips away the essence of what made electronic music festivals special in the first place: discovery and innovation.
This shortsighted approach has sparked debate within the dance music industry concerning its vitality—and the ripple effects are far-reaching. Promising artists are starved of crucial exposure while dyed-in-the-wool headliners grow complacent, perpetuating a vicious cycle and stifling progress within the genre.
While relying on proven headliners may seem financially safe in the short-term, questions arise about long-term sustainability and the cultivation of future headline-caliber acts. By failing to elevate new talent and niche subgenres, it's fair to wonder if festival organizers are alienating the next generation of ravers and producers—and inadvertently laying the groundwork for their own irrelevance.
The economic implications of this booking trend are, of course, complex. As lineups continue to evolve, finding a balance between established crowd-pleasers and fresh talent remains a key challenge for festival organizers.
Defected Records, EDM.com's best label of 2022, is revered for its mastery of that balancing act. The brand organizes its own festivals in Malta, Croatia and Ibiza, among others, and recently announced an unprecedented New Year's celebration spanning all six inhabited continents.
Reflecting on his sale of the business this week, Dunmore praised Saunders for continuing to spotlight promising artists and break new ground.
"Defected 2.0 is now very much Wez's vision," Dunmore said in an Instagram post. "For any business to succeed the direction has to be consistent and come from the top down and, as with me, it has has taken a moment for him to adjust. In Conversation With Saka

His Instagram handle reads ‘sounds like Saka’, and even though he may not have realised it yet, Saka is well and truly on his way to creating a sonic universe that’s true to his artistic vision. The distinctive characteristic of this vision is Saka’s ability to combine the myriad of influences that he learned his craft with, and infusing them into the powerful and thought-provoking soundscapes that he’s been assembling for half a decade.
The result is an eclectic sound palette that spans across the functional, and experimental strands of dubstep, drum & bass, and UK Garage to name a few. These sounds have been consistently presented in the most futuristic and experiential manner ever since his debut in 2019.
Saka hails from Hong Kong, a culturally diverse region that is home to both the most cutting-edge modern ideas, and one of the most prominent cultural hubs of Asia. With nearly every release Saka puts out, you’re guaranteed to be struck by the rich and captivating oriental undertones that shine through his creations.
Over the years, Saka has released his futuristic music on labels like Deadbeats, Inspected Records, and Gud Vibrations, but we’d like to draw your attention to his most recent release on Memory Palace. This release perfectly encapsulates his creative genius and his unwavering vision of musical storytelling by impeccably combining diverse cultural influences.  
Currently, in the middle of his tour in the United States, we caught up with Saka while he was in the middle of sorting some tunes for his upcoming shows. Naturally, the chat began with a deep dive into his ‘Monomyth’ EP. Typically, an album is where you establish a connection with the artist and their musical journey, but in this case, Saka delivers a masterclass of soaking bass vibrations, stark atmospheres and intricate drum work, with an EP.
“The EP was kind of a return to my original writing style. It dates back to my very first EP, where I carefully planned out the sonic journey of the release. I had a clear vision of the chronological order in which I wanted things to progress and how I wanted them to sound.”
Remember the in-depth exploration of different emotional experiences that we mentioned earlier? Here’s the man himself discussing them, “For this EP, the storyboard/timeline existed before the songs were actually written. I knew what I wanted to make for each one except for the opening track ‘Soul Ties.’ This one was pure emotion and a tune that just took its own course. But a lot of the EP is in the Joseph Campbell and Monomyth style of writing and concept.
I wanted to make it a bit full circle and have a dream like narrative to the release. It starts with death and rebirth with ‘Soul Ties’. Then it moves on to the ‘Ghoul’, where I return to my 140 sound. From a mythological viewpoint, there are these two demons, or obstacles – Shenlong & Ifrit. You defeat them, you overcome them, whereupon ‘Ichiban’ is our hero’s revelry in their victory. You move on and then ‘Phantasm’ is more like hero’s realization that the whole journey has been in the hero’s head – just a dream.”
What the “Monomyth” EP does exceptionally well is take you from one state of mind to a completely different one at the conclusion. From the gentle and comforting opening of “Soul Ties” to the gratifying final track, “Phantasm,” the EP takes its protagonist on a journey that is both fascinating and terrifying; and Saka details how he managed to construct it in his head and then translate it into the release. 
“As a person of mixed heritage as well as being from a part of the world where geopolitical tensions can be quite tumultuous; ‘Shenlong’, the god of storms, was written about said conflict. ‘Ifrit’ on the other hand, denotes the conflict in the Middle East. Both in my eyes have to do with modern-day neo-imperialism to varying degrees. The affairs of the world constantly weigh on my mind, and I can’t help but think about it considering where I come from. Fortunately, I have music as an outlet – and while abstract, I’m enthused to be able to synthesize all these emotions and thoughts into something artful.”
In addition to Saka passionately expressing his emotions through the release, the ‘Monomyth’ EP also delves into ancient mythologies and cultures, a theme that Saka has consistently explored since his debut. It’s his appreciation for different cultures blended with contemporary bass music that helps you form a deeper connection with his form of art.
We asked if there was a defining moment that led him to this path,  “I think the moment was when I saw CloZee play live. I wouldn’t say we make the same kind of music, but that was first time where I saw Asian sound ballads used in an electronic format. If someone from a different culture can infuse Chinese soundscapes, then me bring a form of that to the world, I think it only made sense that I embraced my culture and dispensed it in the way I know best. I have always found Shinto mythology super interesting and ancient Chinese mythology as well, and I draw a lot of my inspirations for track names and samples as well.”
Then it was time to take Saka on a little trip down memory lane and talk about when his musical excursions began. Before making his debut in 2019, there was an immersive experience Saka went on where he explored electronic music of many forms before landing on his formative style that speaks multiple sonic languages.
“Specifically, with the kind of music I make, it took me a little longer. But ever since I was a teenager, I was going to underground raves in Hong Kong where they would play a lot of jungle, drum & bass, breaks and everything around it. Then in my college years, I started going to more house music events which eventually led me to Dirtybird Records shows. That was before I dug deep into acts like Ivy Lab, Eprom, Sam Gellaitry, Shades, and G Jones. 
They’re all different in terms of styles, but they introduced me to a totally different world of music that I hadn’t really paid attention to. SoundCloud helped a bit of course because I started listening to acts even though they weren’t exactly future beats, I started making stuff that leaned more towards Soda Island kind of music, but then it got darker and darker.”
Thanks to the progressive culture and incredibly receptive audiences, Hong Kong has been a major touring destination for bass music artists. Celebrated names like Flowdan, Ivy Lab, and Bryan Gee have recently performed there, while local legends like Magnetic Soul have been passionately driving the scene forward with their unique and creative approaches. 
Having spoken about Hong Kong from a political perspective,  and how it influenced the making of his ‘Monomyth’ EP, it was time to explore the club landscape of Hong Kong. 
“The scene in Hong Kong is definitely underground. I think my favourite thing about Hong Kong in general is the local affinity with electronic music, and not EDM or Big Room, if you’d like to call it such. Most events aren’t large-scale, so naturally, it leans towards the underground. You have your drum & bass, you have your dubstep, your techno. All the flavours you’re looking for are there, but in an underground capacity, and I think it’s a factor that becomes conducive for artists to come, interact with the culture, and play what THEY want.”
The discussion then shifted to Saka’s ongoing tour in the United States, a destination he is quite familiar with. Saka has been witness to the rapidly expanding bass music scene in the country, which has seen the art form transition from clubs to festival main stages, with the potential for even greater growth in the future. He gave us a peek into the tour and his thoughts on how bass music is received in America.
“So I did my first headline tour this year, and the response was solid. All the major markets that I wanted to play my music and do well in were all sold out. I can’t ask for more, especially in this economy and considering the kind of music I make, I am definitely very grateful for that.
Coming to how I feel bass music has progressed in the United States – First and foremost, I think bass music is really young and I think it’s America’s first foray into the less noisy type of EDM. Tech House for example, because I remember the flavour of that year was still Complextro. Then the first time Chris Lake’s track played, I think history was made at EDC. It grew massively, then there was this massive over-correction that followed, which I think will be the case with bass music as well.”
Right after the tour will be his debut UK show which he recently announced and this will be followed by his European debut as well. It’s needless to say the anticipation is off the scale, “First time in London, first international headline, first time in Europe. I’m definitely a bit nervous, but also excited. I think a lot of music I have made has been in consideration for how the UK and Europe might perceive it, and I feel quite inspired by the sounds from that side of the pond. I’m really excited to see how the shows pan out.”
Saka’s music traverses through such a wide range of styles that immerse you into his rich tapestry of emotions. For him to achieve this, he relies on a steady stream of motivation and inspiration. Equally important is his ability to reset and transition smoothly from one project to the next. 
“I think hitting the reset button is exactly why I stay motivated. I like moving chapter to chapter and project to project, and I don’t stay in one area for too long to avoid the possibility of burnt-out. Last time I was close to burning out was when I was making ‘Halftime’. In my head, I was like “Oh shit” this is the thing I do that people like and respect me for, and this the thing that does well,  I should just keep making this.
When I had that mindset, I was literally running on fumes. I was like fuck, being able to expand and just be a little more eclectic has made me a lot more patient because, for me, it has to do with how much of your emotions you’re able to put in the tune. If you’re feeling super sad, and you go and write a happy liquid song, and you’ll think to yourself, this doesn’t make any sense. So, I try to be as honest as I can be with my emotions when I am writing music.”
This has also helped Saka manage his expectations and his growth at the pace at which he wants it “It feels consistent and easier to manage, because there are moments where you feel you’ve grown too fast and not many things are in your hands, and there’s an external power that’s holding the reigns of your music and your creativity.”
Coming to the end of our conversation, Saka gave a glimpse into his upcoming music and his progress towards what could be an album in the making. It might be heading our way sooner than we think. There are also a few creative trenches Saka intends to explore with his upcoming music and 
There’s an EP I am working on with Fly so that’s the next thing from a music standpoint, between that I have a series of festival shows, then after that is the tour with Off The Trees. Me and Fly are going to be doing a bunch of shows together. After that, we will have our EP out, and we’ll do some shows together. But at some point in 2025, I will look at working on an album and start channelling my thoughts in that headspace.
When you are writing an album, it is lot more serious, that’s why I am leaving my autumn season open so I get more space to write music. I have a couple of the tracks that I know will be on the album, but besides that, it’s just an idea right now. I want to combine the style of the ‘Monomyth’ EP and the ‘Silk’ EP. writing this EP felt very cathartic, and I am keen to see how my emotions and my love for cultures and mythologies converge into an LP.
I also think my album is going to be the proper vehicle to put out some of the drum & bass I have been working on. The two tunes I mentioned I have ready for the album are drum & bass and it’s definitely some of my favourite work so far
Finally, a tour in the region Saka honed his craft in? That’d be a proper full-circle moment, wouldn’t it? “I really hope to play and tour in Asia very soon. I played my first show in China this year and it was awesome. I really want to tour China, India, and Japan and play some shows in Korea as well. 
The realistic time to look at an Asia tour will be once the album is out; it will just be a better setting for me to bring the tour to fruition; and yes, that would definitely be a full circle moment.”

UNDERMOON injects melodic techno into ‘Walking on a Dream’

What about some solid melodic techno on one of Empire of the Sun‘s classics? That’s what UNDERMOON have done with Walking on a Dream.
Hailing from Ukraine, Skober and R.A.N. form UNDERMOON. They have been waves recently released on international techno labels such as Drumcode, Terminal M, Tronic, and many more. They both use digital and analog gears but in the latest period have been experienced with analog synthesizers and drum machines.
Their take on Walking on a Dream is made most by it. If you listen closely you can hear organic and warm sounds.
Designed for big dance floors and festivals, this track features epic melodies and a driving rhythm. A standout moment includes a vocoder effect in the middle, adding a unique digital twist to the overall composition.
It introduces dark and mysterious harmonies with hypnotic and kind of unclear harmonies.
The tune is chill but at the same time obscure, creating a mix of emotions into the listener.
