Imagine diving into the world of melodic house and techno, where deep emotions and euphoric beats blend together, filling you with hope, nostalgia, and uplifting energy. Does this sound like something you’d love to experience? Then look no further, because Ben Böhmer, the rising star from Germany, has just released his latest album, “Bloom”—an exquisite collection of tracks that will undoubtedly take you on an emotional journey.
Ben Böhmer, the composer and producer who constantly seeks to give life to new ideas through his music, began his musical journey as a teenager when he studied piano without using sheet music under Christoph Busse. This triggered his love for improvisation and experimentation, and his pursuit of creative freedom and experimentation drew him from rural Germany to Berlin, where he fell in love with the club scene.
At the age of 18, he started playing at clubs, where he sharpened his performance skills and explored what electronic music could offer. This shaped Ben Böhmer into a DJ who today has a distinct ability to infuse his music with deep emotions and blend atmospheric melodies with rolling basslines, creating a transcendent and immersive experience for his listeners that is both introspective and uplifting.
Ben Böhmer’s music and live performances have earned him widespread acclaim from fans and tastemakers alike. In 2023, he completed the biggest-ever North American live touring run while reaching 4 million monthly Spotify listeners and has now surpassed 1 billion streams. Additionally, his Cercle set, where Ben Böhmer performed live from a hot air balloon flying over Cappadocia in Turkey, has become one of the most-viewed live electronic sets on YouTube, with over 34 million views.
His newest album, “Bloom,” an 11-track LP released in September earlier this year, is a confident reassertion of his improvisational skills and has brought his passion for songwriting and composing to the foreground. With each track blooming into something unique, featuring ethereal melodies, intricate synths, and driving rhythms, “Bloom” effortlessly captures the essence of personal growth, overcoming hardship, and emerging into power and enlightenment.
The collaborations on “Bloom” also bring a unique richness and variety to the album. Tracks such as ‘Hiding’ , featuring Lykke Li, and ‘Beautiful’, featuring Malou, highlight Ben Böhmer’s ability to blend poignant vocals with his lush production style. ‘Evermore’ ,with Enfant Sauvage and ‘The Sun’ featuring Oh Wonder further diversify the album and add distinct textures and atmospheres that enhance the emotional narrative.
In our modern world that demands immediacy, music creation, consumption, and value have been heavily influenced. The pursuit of short-lived trends has led many producers to prioritize quick outputs, often resulting in music that lacks depth, nuance, and emotional resonance. Ben Böhmer’s “Bloom” stands in stark contrast to this trend—crafted with care, each track is rich with intricate melodies, emotional depth, and a genuine sense of storytelling, offering a timeless experience that transcends the fleeting nature of today’s music landscape.
Whether you’re a longtime fan or a newcomer to Ben Böhmer’s music, “Bloom” promises to be the soundtrack that resonates with your emotions and leaves you inspired. Dive in, and let the music take you somewhere beautiful. And when you’re ready to experience the magic of Ben Böhmer live, you’ll find his tour dates by clicking here.

Evan de Novellis has once more done it! Following mesmerizing us with “Mirage,” he returns on Sinners with his newest song, “Save Me.” Having been a long-time melodic techno enthusiast, I find this release excites me the most.
De Novellis brings his A-game to this passionate melodic voyage. He has been generating waves with recent compositions on Einmusika and Akumandra. ‘Save Me‘ strikes that careful mix that keeps you both introspective and active, perfectly blending melancholy with enthusiasm.
The dynamic tension in the tune definitely grabs my attention. While the mesmerizing melodies soar above to evoke urgency and need, the powerful rhythms give a strong basis. Mirroring the title of the single, the music itself seems to be screaming to be heard.
Listening to ‘Save Me,’ I’m reminded of the first reason I became drawn to electronic music. It’s the capacity to express difficult feelings without words and to let sound alone help you feel understood. De Novellis has hit upon something quite unique here.
I especially advise listening to “Save Me” if you enjoy melodic techno or want something uplifting on the dance floor. Definitely an artist worth seeing, Evan de Novellis excites me about what he creates next.

A decade ago, on October 5, 2014, Swedish duo Galantis released what would become one of the most iconic tracks in EDM history—“Runaway (U & I)”.
It quickly became a global hit. Now, 10 years later, the track continues to dominate streaming platforms, boasting over 1 billion streams to date.
Galantis have always been celebrated for their ability to merge the emotionality of pop with the adrenaline of dance music. Their collaboration started in Stockholm’s Robotberget Studio, and what began as a meeting of creative minds evolved into a partnership that would produce hit after hit.
The song’s incredible combination of lyrics and sound embodies the vision of bridging the gap between EDM and pop. It remains a staple in DJ sets around the world, proving that it’s a timeless piece of art that fans will always love.
As we celebrate 10 years of “Runaway (U & I),” Galantis’ legacy in EDM is undeniable. Their creativity and innovation continue to inspire the next generation of artists, ensuring that this anthem will keep running on the airwaves for years to come.
Happy 10th anniversary, “Runaway (U & I)”—here’s to a track that will never stop making us dance!

CRSSD Fest returned to San Diego’s Waterfront Park for its Fall 2024 edition, once again proving why it’s a staple for house and techno fans. Despite being packed, as most CRSSD events are, the festival’s attention to detail and flawless production helped elevate the experience for everyone in attendance. From incredible performances to thoughtful amenities, CRSSD Fest showed us why it continues to be one of the top electronic music festivals on the West Coast.

Courtesy of CRSSD Festival // Miguel Flores — @miguelmonad The music, of course, was the centerpiece of CRSSD Fall 2024. Gesaffelstein was a master of mystery and intensity, delivering one of the most captivating sets of the weekend. Additionally, his dark techno, paired with moody visuals, transformed the Oceanview stage into an enigmatic sonic journey that had the entire crowd hypnotized. Klangkuenstler also brought relentless techno energy to the City Steps stage, proving why he’s a fan favorite with his high-octane beats and flawless transitions. Hi-Lo, and Boris Brechja also brought their signature sounds to their respective stages, proving once more why they are forces to be reckoned with.
Courtesy of CRSSD Festival // Nicole Busch — @nicolebusch Nora En Pure stepped up to fill in for TOKiMONSTA and delivered a longer, unforgettable set. Her melodic deep house perfectly matched the festival’s vibe, guiding the crowd through sunset with a groove-filled performance that left everyone glowing.

Meanwhile, Idris Elba put on one of the weekend’s best sets, showcasing his impeccable crowd control at The Palms stage. Furthermore, his ability to seamlessly move between commercial house bangers and deeper, underground sounds kept the crowd engaged from start to finish. Having caught a more intimate, underground set of his at Oxford House in San Diego, it was clear he has mastered multiple styles, playing to both massive festival crowds and smaller, more discerning audiences. Both of these sets were two of my favorites from the weekend. His festival set took the crown if only for the added energy he brought. To say the man is talented is an understatement.
BLOND:ISH took a different approach. Her festival set leaned heavily into Afrohouse rhythms, creating an infectious, dance-heavy atmosphere. However, her after-party set at The Rail was an entirely different journey. Afrohouse was still the core, but she mixed in underground beats that took listeners on a deeper, more explorative ride, blending diverse sounds and creating moments of surprise.
Courtesy of CRSSD Festival // Miguel Flores — @miguelmonad Production & Vibes On Point
While CRSSD can get crowded, the festival organizers made sure the logistics were on point. The abundance of restrooms—particularly the standing urinal area—meant shorter lines, allowing fans to get back to the music faster. Additionally, though it would be nice to see upgraded restrooms like other festivals, CRSSD’s decision to forgo VIP areas and keep all attendees on an equal footing is one of its most appealing aspects. Everyone is there for the same reason: to dance and enjoy the music.
Courtesy of CRSSD Festival // Keiki Lani-Knudsen — @imkeiki Courtesy of CRSSD Festival // Keiki Lani-Knudsen — @imkeiki Courtesy of CRSSD Festival // Keiki Lani-Knudsen — @imkeiki The stage production was also a highlight this year. Soulwax, Tinlicker, and Disclosure all took full advantage of the dazzling visuals on the Oceanview stage. In the process creating a sensory experience that matched the vibe of their performances. BICEP delivered their stunning Chroma AV set, combining their unique sound with captivating visuals to create an immersive audiovisual journey. Gorgon City, meanwhile, brought the heat to The Palms stage with their infectious house beats. They kept the energy high as they showcased the sounds of their latest albums ‘Reverie’, and ‘Salvation’.
Afrohouse & The After-Party Magic
No festival weekend is complete without a proper after-party. BLOND:ISH’s set at The Rail with Desiree was a spiritual experience. The tight, packed venue turned into a sweaty, jungle-themed dance haven where Afrohouse sounds flowed seamlessly. Despite the close quarters, the energy was so positive that I left the party feeling uplifted, happy, and fully satisfied. This is a stark contrast compared to the frustration that usually accompanies such a crowded space.
Courtesy of CRSSD Festival // Miguel Flores — @miguelmonad Looking Ahead to Proper NYE
Adam Beyer didn’t close out the festival but delivered a prime-time set at City Steps around 6:15. In the process, he stayed true to his signature techno sound. His powerful, no-nonsense approach had the crowd fully immersed in the moment. As the final beats of the weekend echoed through the park, it became clear that CRSSD Fest continues to deliver unforgettable experiences. The anticipation for Proper NYE at Petco Park is already building. Lastly, if this weekend was any indicator, we’re in for another round of unmissable performances to ring in the new year. In conclusion, see you in December!

Your McNuggets can now be served with a side of electronic music at a McDonald's restaurant in Budapest.
The fast food location recently received an intense remodel with a feature you never could've guessed: DJ sets from 10pm to 4am every Friday and Saturday night. Even better, the chain's location in Nyugati Railway Station provides a cavernous, colonial ceiling on which artists can display trippy visuals.
After an eight-month renovation, the franchisee of the McDonald's location decided to call the revamped venue "Nyugati Lounge." The dance music series will run through the end of the year and has so far invited Lauer, Bela Galik and Nigel Sorter to perform, among other local DJs.
This location in particular has been lauded by Lonely Planet as the world's "most elegant" McDonald's. Many have even compared it to a five-star hotel, according to the New York Post.

One of the most iconic tracks in the vast discography of trance legend, Tiësto is the remix of “Silence,” originally produced by the electronic duo Delerium and featuring the ethereal vocals of Sarah McLachlan. Released on October 4, 2000, the song quickly became a staple in the electronic music scene, thanks to its haunting melodies and emotional depth.
Tiësto discovered “Silence” while exploring various tracks for his sets, immediately recognizing its potential to be transformed into a dancefloor anthem. In 2001, he released his ‘In Search of Sunrise Edit’, which took the original’s serene vibe and infused it with driving beats and euphoric synths, making it a perfect fit for clubs and festivals.

Vincent is leading us on a journey through time, back to the golden age of progressive house, and "Surrounded" is the track lighting the way.
Out now on Dim Mak, "Surrounded" sees Vincent tapping into the heart of arguably dance music's most euphoric chapter: the 2010s. With a sound that blends modern production with a nostalgic soul, the track is a satisfying throwback.
After a three-year mental health break, Vincent's return signals a resurgence in both his personal journey and his artistic output.
"'Surrounded' is a love letter to my golden era of dance music," Vincent said in a press release shared with EDM.com. "It is an ode to incredible vocals, a melody you can belt out, and over-the-top energy. Dance music that gives you the euphoric feeling that it’s made to do. After much sonic theory crafting and figuring out where my sound would go next, this is the first step forward."
Building upon an emotional core, "Surrounded" captures the feeling of wanting to push someone away but finding no reason to. Its shimmering synth leads and angelic vocals float together in a way that feels both weightless and heavy, delivering a sonic catharsis that Vincent's fans know all too well.
In terms of its production, "Surrounded" brings a powerful sense of familiarity. The track aligns itself with the uplifting sound that fans have come to expect from Vincent’s releases, such as "All Night" and the dancefloor stomper "Make a Move." But the new single is more than a nostalgic nod—it infuses the timeless essence of progressive house with a refined, contemporary twist to give listeners the best of both worlds.

As Hurricane Helene continues its pernicious path through the Southeastern United States, scores of beleaguered music venues and professionals are seeking a lifeline.
Helene has mutated into one of the largest and most harmful storms to develop in the Gulf of Mexico in the last century after making landfall as a Category 4 hurricane September 26th in Florida, according to NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
The death toll today climbed over 215, making the storm the deadliest since 2005's Hurricane Katrina, according to Axios. Emergency shelters are now opening en masse in the aftermath of the historic flooding, which left hundreds of thousands of people without water, power and cell service.

Helene hit North Carolina especially hard last weekend, causing widespread devastation across coastal and inland communities. Emergency services were reportedly overwhelmed by calls for help as heavy rains triggered flash floods across the region, sweeping away entire homes and venues.
North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper has called the storm "catastrophic" and recently received approval from the federal government to declare a Major Disaster, per a press release issued by his office. The edict allowed the state to secure access to a "significant funding commitment."
"The people in western North Carolina are hurting from this devastating storm and we are all working to get resources to people as fast as we can," Cooper said. "We have deployed rescue teams, transportation crews, water, mobile kitchens and more. This is going to be a long-term recovery and this federal declaration will help us respond."
Read on to find out how to support independent music venues and people during the ongoing crisis caused by Helene.
How to support the music community impacted by Hurricane Helene
The National Independent Venue Foundation Emergency Relief Fund is providing essential financial aid to help keep venues and festivals afloat. The organization is accepting donations here. MusiCares, a nonprofit providing health, financial and rehabilitation resources to music industry professionals in times of need, offers an Emergency Financial Assistance Program providing financial grants. Salvage Station, a beloved music venue located in Asheville's historic River Arts District, was completely destroyed. The venue's owners have launched a campaign to raise funds, which will be "strictly given to our employees to survive during this devastating time." You can donate here. Another popular independent venue in the River Arts District, The Grey Eagle, has cancelled or postponed all of its concerts until the city of Asheville gets running water back. Its owners are accepting in-kind donations to support staff members. Heist Brewery and Barrel Arts, an independent venue in Charlotte, is now moonlighting as a drop-off location for essential supplies like batteries, flashlights, water purification tablets, blankets and baby formula. Its owners have ensured they will deliver items to a slew of impacted venues. Heist Brewery and Barrel Arts is also hosting a benefit concert on October 11th to help fund the efforts of Beloved Asheville, a local nonprofit providing aid to those in need across western North Carolina. A portion of the night's sales as well as all donations received at the door will be directed to the organization. You can purchase tickets here. Over in Tennessee, Nashville's The Basement club has organized a benefit concert on October 7th to help raise funds for victims in the eastern part of the state as well as western North Carolina. You can purchase tickets here. A group of venues launched the "NC Indie Music Venues United for Western NC" initiative to direct a portion of ticket sales throughout the month of October to relief efforts. They will be splitting the proceeds between the NIVA's Emergency Relief Fund and NC Arts Disaster Relief Fund, among other organizations. In a raw moment of exasperation, Bob Sinclar took to social media to lament how smartphone usage has eroded the personal connection cultivated by live shows.
The French electronic music icon recorded a video message in the wake of a recent performance at a club in Mykonos, which he highlighted as a "beautiful place." The energy and atmosphere of the show, he assumed, would be lively.
Sinclar said his expectations were dashed, however, when he found the majority of attendees on the dancefloor remaining frozen in place, "completely dead" as they recorded on their smartphones.
"I'm so depressed," Sinclar said, noting that the crowd remained still behind their phones even as he played his many generational dance hits, like the timeless "Love Generation." "It was the worst gig of my entire career," he added.

All hope wasn't lost, however, as Sinclar returned to Instagram days later to thank his fans in Cannes for joining him during a particularly exuberant outing at the Bâoli club. Sometimes, a wakeup call is all we need.
Sinclar is one of many influential DJs to bemoan the recent surge in smartphone usage and its impact on the authenticity of club culture. Anyma, Damian Lazarus, Wavedash and the collaborative duo of James Hype and MEDUZA have advocated for digital detox efforts in nightlife, among others. Miami's iconic Club Space also implemented its first-ever no-phone policy for a 24-hour party in June.

We’ve been waiting on this one piece of blissful Trance for months. It’s finally ours.
Ben Hemsley. This man took the Trance scene by storm — and for all the good reasons. Undoubtedly, his big break in the scene came with the release of ‘Erase Me’, a celestial Balearic Trance tune that once you listen to it, you cannot stop hitting the ‘Repeat’ button. Fast-forward a few years and Hemsley has become one of the younger figures in who we trust to restore Trance to its former glory.
Initially a House aficionado, sometime in the past three years he went all-in on Trance. And not any kind of Trance: Classic Trance. Author of the aforementioned anthem, and other belters such as ‘IBIZA’ and ‘Closer’, label head of Bebé Recordings, and Armin’s chosen one to co-create the A State Of Trance 2025 anthem, Ben is reaching astronomical heights. And we couldn’t be more excited.
‘Tidal’
Inspired by the golden era of Trance, Ben Hemsley’s ‘Tidal’ featuring the vocals of Rose Gray is one of the year’s most anticipated releases, by a mile. The 10.5-minute-long track blends Classic Trance hallmarks with innovative soundscapes, all while Rose Gray’s ethereal voice adds an emotional layer to the narrative of a turbulent on-and-off relationship.
If you told me this was a lost piece from 2001 and it’s been restored and released, I would 100% believe you. The vibe is so old-school in all the best ways possible. It’s glorious, and it has a soul. At last, a song that has a soul, and a true soul. Close your eyes, take a sixth of an hour off your duties, and let this beautiful composition fly you away.

Progressive Trance at its finest, ladies and gentlemen.
The Digital Drift boys have done it again. What once started as an innocent collaboration between longtime pals Nitrous Oxide and Simon Gregory, worked so well that they ended up making a new alias for their conjoint releases. A common ground for both, the Digital Drift project has represented the solidification of a core and iconic sound in the Progressive Trance scene, finally addressed.
What I mean to say is, being this the nth track I come across produced by them as a duo, I’ve finally been able to find that Progressive Trance sound everyone loved some years ago, and that the industry suddenly left behind to replace it with a sort of Peak-Time Techno, and then Melodic Techno hybrid. Even Classic Trance came back before anyone dared mop the dust off ye ole reliable Prog Trance.
And I’m so glad Simon and Chris have not only revived this iconic sound but have also perfected it beyond limits. And how wouldn’t they? While Chris has been a veteran and pillar of Trance for close to 20 years, Simon has been at the very front of the genre for years, working closely with the guys at Mondo records, and landing Anjunabeats deals, among others.
‘Alone’
Digital Drift’s latest just came out today. ‘Alone’ just saw the light of day via FSOE Argento, and it’s carrying sizable momentum from the last weeks. Dan Stone, Argento label head, spun it a few weeks ago on his show, and after that came double support from Above & Beyond on their Group Therapy radioshow, back-to-back.
Dark and powerful, ‘Alone’ is a track that pairs the best of the energy Progressive is known for, with the melody and heartfelt emotion of Trance.

SNAILS has teamed up with the legendary metal band Stained With Silver and the talented NITTI for an explosive new collaboration, ‘BASS FACE‘. This bass banger comes after Fred’s last metal bass track ‘BODIES.’
This mayhem inducing track seamlessly blends the aggressive guitar riffs and powerful vocals of metal with the heavy basslines and intricate rhythms of dubstep, and is immediately felt from the first 30 seconds. The male vocalist’s belting vocals bolster the track with a heavy dose of adrenaline, combined with the thunderous drumline and explosive bass, making this a certified banger on the dancefloor or festival circuit.
SNAILS had a massive 2024, with him touring all across North America and is gearing up for an even bigger 2025. ‘BASS FACE’ is just his first collab of many to come.
