It’s been a while, but we’re finally anticipating Richard Bedford’s next venture with the Trance trio.
Heart. Of. Stone. For some of you, fellow readers, this might have been the most awaited ID Above & Beyond premiered two entire years ago at the ABGT500 milestone show. That night in Los Angeles would mark the last time the three guys would be spotted playing together, as they decided to call ABGT550 off in exchange for more time in the studio, and all gigs but ABGT are performed by two of the three, always. This year, they’re returning. But the ID won’t be an ID anymore.
‘Heart of Stone’ will be released next Thursday, September 5th, on Anjunabeats.
The vocal track, which features the iconic male voice of Trance, Richard Bedford, is the next chapter of uncountable ventures of the four artists coming together. He’s the unmistakable voice behind countless Above & Beyond anthems such as ‘Sun & Moon’, ‘Thing Called Love’, and ‘Alone Tonight’.
In fact, he’s the chosen voice whenever the boys have something to say in a masculine timbre. As Tony mentioned earlier this month in our exclusive interview with him:
Since its debut, ‘Heart of Stone’ has mesmerised audiences at EDC Las Vegas, Group Therapy Weekender at the Gorge Amphitheatre, and Printworks in London. And it will now grace Mexico City, as the band and the entire label heads over to the Hipódromo de las Américas on October 19th and 20th for ABGT600.
So, it’s time to set your calendars for what’s going to be quite an eventful day. Pre-save Above & Beyond and Richard Bedford’s new journey, by clicking here. And make sure to follow our page to stay up to date on the latest news and views regarding our beloved Dance music industry.

A rhythmic heartbeat propels Low Mileage's latest release, a buoyant indietronica track that invites us to dance away our worries in times of need.
Out now via MrSuicideSheep's found/red label, "When You Need Somebody" teeters on the edge of contradiction—it's a song about emotional distance set to music that begs you to move closer. The result is a track that resonates in both body and mind, inviting listeners to lose themselves in its atmospheric embrace while pondering its deeper meanings.
The song's uplifting house drop acts as a counterpoint to the more complex lyrics that follow in the break. "Didn't want to make it up to you / 'Cause nothing that I do ever hurts you," quavers a voice caught between frustration and care. It's a snapshot of a relationship where one person feels invisible—an apology that isn't, a strength that masquerades as weakness.
The chorus, however, offers a lifeline: "I'm here when you need somebody." It's a simple statement that carries weight, especially in the track's stunning coda, where Low Mileage brings it all home by virtue of a drop sequence bursting with emotion and UK garage grooves.

These genre-defying artists have reimagined Sage the Gemini’s 2014 hit, infusing it with a perfect blend of nostalgia and cutting-edge sound design. The track made its electrifying debut at John Summit’s Experts Only event during Miami Music Week, where Subtronics and Tape B joined John on stage. Out now on all platforms today.
‘Gas Pedal’
The original ‘Gas Pedal’ by Sage The Gemini, featuring Iamsu!, released in 2014. It is a captivating and stripped-down track with a strong influence from Bay Area hip-hop. The reworked version ingeniously combines house and dubstep. It has John Summit’s lively house elements and Subtronics’ deep dubstep infusing the song with a heightened, electrifying energy compared to the original. Tape B’s incorporation of trap elements adds a dynamic balance to the heavy bass of Subtronics and the lively house beats of John Summit, resulting in a more multifaceted and refined track.
This summer marked a major milestone for John Summit with the release of his highly anticipated album Comfort In Chaos. If you haven’t experienced his live performance yet, you’re truly missing out! Be sure to check out his tour dates here. Subtronics, renowned for his passion for subwoofers and electronics, delivers electrifying live shows and showcases advanced mixing abilities. Don’t miss the chance to see him live. Check out his tour dates here. Additionally, Tape B is making waves in the electronic music scene by blending the nostalgic vibes of old-school dubstep with contemporary bass music and hip-hop. Catch him on his fall tour dates here for an unforgettable experience.
The collaboration between these three artists results in a track that blends house’s danceability, dubstep’s intensity, and trap’s rhythmic elements. Hope you enjoy this rework as much as we do. Hope you enjoy ‘Gas Pedal’ as much as we do, and stay tuned to EDMTunes for all your dance music updates.

We recently caught up with one of the most sensitive duos in the Organic House industry.
If you’ve been either a fan of Organic House, or you’ve been at Burning Man this year and/or the last one, you might have heard one particular tune. ‘Matter Of Time (Stars Align)‘ is the title of a cheeky little track that made its way to being one of the more hotly-anticipated IDs for close to a year. Legend says it made its way across the playa in 2023, jumping from DJ to DJ via USBs.
The artists behind said (master)piece are no other than ARTEMIDES, a fairly new duo consisting of veteran producers — and life partners — Seth Schwarz and Lydgen. Under their conjoint alias, they’ve released tracks like ‘Create The Universe’, ‘Leap of Faith (Follow your Heart)’, and ‘Who we are’. Below is a link to their ‘Matter Of Time’ emotional record.
We had the chance to have a little chat with them, just before departing to this year’s Burning Man. So we did what should be done: we asked them about that not-anymore-ID that practically soundtracked the festival, apart from diving into their vision as a duo, what it feels like to work together under a same name, plans for the future, Antarctica, collaborations, and so much more.
So sit down, put on your headphones with Seth and Lydgen’s best tunes, and read on, as we embark on a Q&A round with the masterful Organic House duo, ARTEMIDES.
The Interview
(Please note, the bolded text represents a question, while the paragraph(s) following it represent ARTEMIDES’ answers.)
So, you guys are getting ready for Burning Man. What are your thoughts, are you excited, nervous maybe? What are your expectations for this year’s gathering?
We’re beyond excited, Burning Man is such a unique experience! But this year is a bit different for us. Lydgen is in the 9th month of pregnancy with our first baby, so she won’t be able to join Burning Man. Seth is more than excited to play our music solo this year. While ARTEMIDES will miss the desert vibes this time, we’ll be back next year stronger than ever.
You’re two separate acts, and have been forging your own careers over time. When did you decide to give birth to ARTEMIDES as a duo rather than a series of standalone collaborations? When did you see that extra bit of magic to create a separate alias?
The idea for ARTEMIDES was born a few years ago during a magical experience at Cloud9 in South Africa. We’ve always made music together, but it was there that we realized we should fully combine our creativity and musicality, especially during Seth’s shows. That moment sparked the idea to create ARTEMIDES as a distinct project where we could truly explore and express our combined artistic vision, with the violin and the singing. The synergy was undeniable, and we knew this was something special that deserved its own identity.
What’s the story behind ‘Matter of Time’? What, or who, was your musical inspiration for this particular piece, and how did it come about?
‘Matter of Time’ emerged during a pivotal moment when we realized that we wanted to fully commit our lives to music and the artist’s path. This was around spring 2023, a time of transformation for us. The melodies and lyrics for the song came to us effortlessly and with a sense of clarity. It was a reflection of our decision to embrace music as our true purpose, and the creative process felt light and natural, as if the song was just waiting to be discovered.
What do you enjoy most about making music together?
The best part is the constant exchange of ideas and the way we push each other creatively. There’s a sense of trust and freedom that allows us to experiment and explore new sounds. We each bring our own influences and styles to the table, which makes the process unpredictable and exciting. It’s like a conversation through music, where we both learn and grow with every project.
Have you conquered any lifelong dreams you had in the music realm, or had any moments in which you look back and realise how far you’ve made it?
Absolutely. One of the standout moments was our performances at Burning Man 2023, where we played on the big stages at PlayAlchemist and Playground. We played ‘Matter of Time,’ and seeing the crowd go wild was an incredible experience. It was definitely a high point in our journey so far and gave us the affirmation that we’re on the right path with our music. Performing at such iconic events and feeling that connection with the audience is something we’ll never forget.
Are there any acts you would want to collaborate with in the future? Maybe even something outside of the four-on-the-floor canvas?
We’re always open to new collaborations, especially with artists who bring something different to the table. We’d love to explore a blend of organic instruments and electronic elements with artists and true music producers, also outside the traditional electronic scene — Seth has always dreamed of playing his music with a classical orchestra, which would be an incredible fusion of organic and electronic elements. The possibilities are endless, and that’s what excites us.
What are your plans for the future, any gigs on the horizon? Especially, we’d love a bit of an insight into a so-called Antarctica expedition we heard through the grapevine…
There’s definitely a lot on the horizon! In the next few months, Seth will be performing mostly solo. And yes, the Antarctica expedition is real! It’s an ambitious idea to create music in one of the most remote and pristine environments on Earth, and it’s something he is incredibly excited about. And also he has some exciting events lined up, including appearances at ADE in Amsterdam this October, and in November, he is touring in New York and Canada. Until Lydgen is ready to be back on stage, we’ll be busy creating new music in the studio.
Next to his busy artist life, Seth is also highly involved in developing a new music streaming platform called WeR1, which aims to create a more transparent and rewarding ecosystem for artists and their communities. At ADE they have a big launch event with great artists playing. You can download the app and sign up using his invite-code SETH07.
Closing the Q&A on a more philosophical note, given just how fragile Life is, acknowledging we’re all going to leave this place someday, what would you like to be your legacy? What would you like people to remember you for?
We hope to be remembered for creating music that resonates on a deep emotional level, something that people can connect with in a meaningful way. Beyond just the music, we want our legacy to be about pushing boundaries, taking risks, and inspiring others to find their own creative voice. Life is indeed fragile, and we want our work to remind people to live passionately, dream big, and never be afraid to pursue the extraordinary.
Final Words
Thank you so much Lydgen and Seth for providing such sensitive, profound answers. What I get from the experience of chatting with them is that they are a true reflection of their music. If you listen to their tracks, they always have this emotional nature to them, and that kind and warm personality is an exact mirror of who they are in real life. Which is just so wholesome to acknowledge.
You heard it here first! If you’re going to be in Amsterdam, North America, or — for some reason — Antarctica, you can catch their music live on tour! Also, make sure to check the WeR1 App, right here. And be sure to follow our page to stay up to date on the latest news and views regarding our beloved Dance music industry.

KDrew is back with "Say What You Wanna," an explosive yet haunting dance anthem that dares you to speak up in a world that's stopped listening.
It's the third new single in as many months for KDrew after releasing "Where Do We Go?" and "Hysteria," a pair of stunning melodic bass tracks. He's gone the house route this time around, stunning with an electro arrangement that grabs you by the throat and forces you to confront the chaos within its bars.
As distorted synths wail and four-on-the-floor kicks hammer, KDrew's tortured vocals paint a picture of a mind teetering on the edge. His voice, a raw nerve exposed, howls into the void atop his typically cascading production.
A frantic mantra for a generation caught in the crosshairs of instant gratification and existential dread, the lyrics drip with angst and explore a world where salvation comes at the price of submission. "Hurry up, it's never been more obvious," he urges atop a heady bassline. "Deceivers, fall victim to the lobbyist," he then belts.

We’ve got yet another killer track for you to enjoy this weekend.
Toolroom never disappoints. Mark Knight’s imprint has become a leader of the House and Tech House sounds for decades, often trailblazing and shaping the core elements of the funkier and groovier corners of Dance music for years to come. That’s why we’re excited to share the news: Spanish icon Crusy has just landed yet another signing on the label. And it’s quite the monstrous one.
Mikel Crusy, a rising star in the Tech House scene, has had a great skyrocketing couple of years lately. Originating from Madrid, Crusy embarked on his musical journey at just 15, with his music getting to the ears of renowned artists. In recent years, he’s become a prominent face in the scene, rocking a couple of chart toppers, and a good handful of sonic firestarters.
‘Hey Girls, B-Boys’
His latest tune, ‘Hey Girls, B-Boys‘, is a nod to the past, with a clever and refreshing touch. Machine-programmed, dry drums are all it took for Crusy to craft a banger, but he went one step further. Two, actually. Firstly, he made a boomy saw bassline the core of the melodic elements. And secondly, he used a sample known by many.
The Chemical Brothers revolutionised the industry with their ‘Hey Boy Hey Girl‘ track, and that vocal was embedded forever in the collective mind of EDM. Well, guess then why Crusy created not only an incredible masterpiece but also a very memorable one? Sing along to the lyrics wherever you are, and whenever you please. Here we go!
Listen to Crusy‘s ‘Hey Girls, B-Boys’ by hitting the ‘Play‘ button on the Spotify player below. Also, click here to support the release on your platform of choice. Are you a producer and you’d like to see your tracks on our page? Then head over to this link right here, you champ. Be sure to follow our page to stay up to date on the latest news and views regarding our beloved Dance music industry.

Today, beloved Italian Emo-Tech duo Mathame, unveiled their latest single, ‘Angel’, a lyrical masterpiece and testament to their innovative spirit and profound synergy. Arriving as the duo’s most ambitious and commercially groundbreaking record to date, Mathame’s latest track has not only captured the essence of the season but the attention of critics as well, who have lauded it as 2024’s next true Summer anthem.
‘Angel’
Embodying the spirit of the summer, ‘Angel’ is a radiant, sun-drenched track that showcases Mathame’s technical prowess and unique production style, weaving together mesmerizing melodies with vibrant, pulsating rhythms. The track reveals itself with an ethereal lyrical refrain, energized by an infectious, driving beat with sunlit synths. Listeners are filled with effervescence as the song transcends them through the essence of summer. It feels like a paradise of golden rays and pure, blissful euphoria. You will feel like you are in the presence of an angel.
Born from their union of brotherhood and musical genius, the track came together piece by piece during performances throughout 2024 around the world. Then, the creative process culminated in the iconic Electronic music haven of Ibiza. In effect, it cemented its influence on Summer from its very origin, emerging as a definitive seasonal anthem. The song itself sounds heavenly, just like an angel.
“‘Angel’ came to light slowly, with many small steps, but the excitement of listening to it has never changed“, Mathame say. “For us, it represents the freshness of summer – from a run to Venice Beach to spending the day on a boat in Ibiza. The idea for the track first came to us watching a sunset in Bali“.
A NEO 2024
2024 has marked a triumphant return of Mathame’s shared artistic vision. First, it saw the release of their single ‘I Will Find You.’ Its original producers Clannad endorsed the single. Moreover, their groundbreaking residency – NEO – at Ibiza’s fabled electronic temple, Amnesia coalesced music and art. This meant bridging the gap between ancient and modern. Furthermore, they completed their AV Shows with an electrifying performance during Tomorrowland Weekend One. Lastly, they finished their first-ever full-length AI-generated feature film in a public venue, making an angelic mark in the world of innovative art.
This fall, the duo will unveil NEO World, their highly-anticipated world tour. It is set to debut at the iconic Brooklyn Mirage for the first time. As a two-hour, 360-degree immersive sonic experience, coalescing music and art, it centers around the reimagined, nine-meter-tall humanoid – NEO -. The physical manifestation of the duo’s connective ethos and symbol of unity and peace will make you feel as if you have found your guardian ‘Angel.’

Out today is GRAMMY award-winning, multi-platinum artist Zedd‘s third studio album, the first in nearly a decade, entitled Telos. A 10-track masterwork that combines his classically trained roots with the singular Dance-Pop sound that underpins his incredible career. Zedd is joined by a star-studded and diverse cast of collaborators on Telos, including Rock monoliths John Mayer and Muse, Alt-Pop stars Remi Wolf, Dora Jar, and Bea Miller, modern Irish Folk virtuosos the olllam, and the iconic voice of the late, great Jeff Buckley.
Previously released singles, including ‘Lucky‘ with Remi Wolf and ‘Out of Time‘ with Bea Miller both appear on the album, as well as eight additional unreleased tracks. Regarding the album’s creation, including the Greek title, Zedd said: “Telos has multiple meanings, one of them being ‘accomplishment’ or ‘completion of human art’“.
Telos follows Zedd’s second album, True Colors, released almost a decade ago in 2015. True Colors birthed some of the iconic tracks we still cherish today, including ‘I Want You To Know‘ with Selena Gomez and ‘Beautiful Now‘ with Jon Bellion. Of course, we can’t forget about Zedd’s first full-length album, Clarity, in 2011, the title track of which helped catapult the DJ/producer to the stardom he’s achieved today.

We recently talked with a duo that’s been dominating the scene for close to a decade.
Fatum. You might know them, you might remember them. Maybe some of their tracks come to mind if I mention ‘I Ran‘, ‘Coming Home‘, ‘Superfecta‘ or ‘The Tide‘. These guys have been putting out proper bangers year after year, for ten years now. With two Grammy nominations, Billboard Top 20s, over 200 releases and decades of experience, as well as remixing and collaborating for the likes of Hans Zimmer and Armin van Buuren, they are in demand for their signature melodic, Trance-infused, Techno sound.
Their latest incursion happened just a week ago, when they released ‘Make Me Wonder‘, a track composed alongside Bren Lock and Brieanna Grace, which, after years of being in the making, finally saw the light of day via Insomniac’s Interstellar Recordings.
We’ve managed to have a lovely little chat with the boys, just off the heels of their Interstellar debut. We talked about all things producing, collaborating with Bren — an old friend of theirs —, their constant sonic evolution, past members of the group, social media presence, and much more. We even addressed the whole marketing versus production debate artists are all picking sides on. So, without further to do, sit down, grab your favourite mug (fill it with your favourite drink), and read on, as we have a conversation with Daniel Davis and Bruce Karlsson, the men behind Fatum.
The Interview
(Please note, the bolded text represents a question, while the paragraph(s) following it represent Fatum’s answers.)
First off, huge congrats on the release of ‘Make Me Wonder’! In your eyes, what does this single mean for Fatum and your story?
Thank you! To be honest, this release means a lot to everyone involved. It was a real labor of love to bring this one to the finish line and a true testament to proper collaboration. The song took over two years to complete from the original idea, but it was worth the wait. We absolutely love this record!
We’re aware you’ve been friends with Bren Lock for a while now. Had you had any unfinished collaborations before working on ‘Make Me Wonder’, or is this the first time you guys sit down and work on a track together?
We had been friends with Pete (Bren Lock) for nearly 10 years, but this was our first attempt at a collaboration. It felt like we had worked together many times before, given the number of revisions we both undertook for this song. Our projects share a similar sonic realm, and our musical history has always been aligned, with both of us coming from a melodic style background and taste.
We’d love to have you walk us through the story of the song. How was it born? When was that moment in which you realized you had something special in the works?
The song began two years ago when Bruce and I initially wrote the track with a different vocalist. We pitched the first version to several labels, but there wasn’t much traction since our style was shifting from our usual Trance 2.0 sound to something darker and more melodic. We sat on the record for over a year, waiting for the right moment or inspiration to bring it to life. That’s when I decided to ask Bren Lock to listen and incorporate his ideas. Instantly, the song had new life, and its identity felt more mature and developed for the current sound both our projects were aiming for.
We sent it to Interstellar, and they loved it! We finally saw the finish line, but then the unexpected happened…
Because it took us so long to fully form the song, the original vocalist decided to pursue a different creative direction and backed out. We were back to square one.
Fortunately, Interstellar was kind enough to help us find a new vocalist and introduced us to Brieanna Grace, who completely transformed the feel of the record into what it is today. Her talent and fresh approach to the topline were beyond perfect, and we are incredibly grateful it ended up in her hands.
Which are some sources of inspiration you can recall as your “muses” for whenever you’re working on a track? Is it, for example, Nature, or past experiences? And what was the spark that ignited the idea behind ‘Make Me Wonder’?
As Fatum, we love drawing inspiration from other songs. Bruce and I have what feels like an audio Pinterest board filled with tracks and the experiences or emotions they evoke, which we then bring into our work. “Make Me Wonder” was no different. Many people listened to and helped shape this record, and through their feedback and the challenges we faced, we were motivated to refine the production and never give up.
I believe it was the initial spark of excitement that started the project, but it was our determination that kept the flame alive.
Fatum is today a duo, but it used to be different. In fact, a handful of people have been a part of Fatum’s history. Would you say the vision you had for the band back in 2014 — when you had your first releases — still holds up to this day? And, do you still hear the influence of Chad and Bill in your sound?
Not many people know that Fatum started as a group of four. While most are familiar with Bruce and me, fewer know about Chad Newbold and the late Bill Hamel.
We have always been, and still are, best friends, and every member of our group continues to influence every release we make—even to this day. Though we deeply miss Bill, his pioneering sound in early trance, progressive, and breaks continues to inspire us. And while Chad has taken on more of a behind-the-scenes role, we couldn’t create any record without his musical touch. We owe so much to these two and are incredibly grateful for the team we’ve built together.
Speaking about your sound, it has been in constant evolution. It’s always been that way. What would you say are key things an artist should do to embrace change, without losing that so-called “signature sound” they are known for?
Evolution is a fundamental part of humanity, and as creatives, being stuck in one sound and repeating the same thing over and over can be demoralizing and exhausting. We believe that while our signature sound will always evolve, the quality and attention to detail will remain constant.
It’s important to be consistent for your audience, but it’s equally important to stay true to yourself—and sometimes, being true to yourself means stepping outside of the box. We’ve allowed ourselves the freedom to always explore that.
You guys are one of the more vocal acts I’ve seen that openly talk about the role of a musician in today’s times. It’s usually a matter of debate, whether an artist should only make music and rarely acknowledge marketing, versus those acts who are social media icons first of all and then take their fame over to music. Two approaches, two results. Would you say there’s any right way to balance creativity in the studio and optimal social media presence?
Speaking for myself (Daniel), I believe social media and marketing have created opportunities for any musician to achieve their dream—whether that’s becoming famous or building a sustainable career doing what they love and being creative.
There’s a lot of resistance among musicians toward social media and marketing because it’s another skill we need to learn to grow effectively, and, to be honest, not many people know how to do it successfully.
The entire music industry, like many others, is evolving right before our eyes. Some might argue that social media has shifted the focus away from the art itself, and in some cases, that might be true.
However, I would argue that in many cases, it’s more about the art—and the artist—than ever before.
All it takes is a creative person doing what they love, learning to use a platform of their choice, and sharing their work with the world. It has never been easier to have your voice heard, your art seen, and, most importantly, to express the real human behind it all.
We are in a new era for small businesses—and for musicians, this is our chance to showcase our art to the world without waiting for others to dictate the direction of our careers.
A good chunk of our readers are actually DJs and producers in the making. Do you have any thoughts or words for those rising artists who look up to you and are somewhat struggling to stand out in a sea of producers all trying to make it in the industry?
Be encouraged! All musicians are navigating the same challenges, but there is hope, trust me!
The traditional path in the music industry is being dismantled, and a new era for independent artists is on the rise. The only way to stand out is to showcase your uniqueness, and the best way to do that is to find a social platform you enjoy, learn how to use it, and consistently put yourself out there.
This is the quickest way to grow your project, music, business, and career. And if you feel lost or need help, please follow us on Instagram at @fatummusic and reach out. We’re here to help.
Final Words
Those words you just read come from two very wise artists. I’ve been following them ever since I first heard the Sunstars remix of their ‘I Ran’ cover, and then they crossed over to Anjunabeats just at the same time I was shifting my likes to Progressive Trance. So you could say I’ve seen them evolve, apply new techniques and approaches to production and, in more recent times, also take the lead in how to become an all-round artist regarding marketing.
Thank you so much Daniel and Bruce for opening up and being quite deep about your answers. And also, big ups for offering to help the community! They may not remember, but back in 2018 I sent them a song for feedback, and they actually listened to it and gave me some notes! So I can testify this positive approach to making music has always been there. You can find them over on their Instagram. Thanks again guys! Wishing you the very best on this nth new chapter of yours, also, most likely, your nth successful chapter too.

We’re all for these songs that breathe new life into cultural classics.
Today, the Italian DJ and producer Skylin3 makes it back to the spotlight with a new release on Glasgow Underground. And what a comeback tune, to be honest! Following the success of his earlier track ‘The Way I Are’ with label head Kevin McKay, he’s now joined forces with his fellow mate Raffa FL and Colombian duo Cumbiafrica to put a fresh spin on the Gypsy Kings 1987 hit ‘Bamboléo‘.
The original track is basically a part of human history as of today, given the fact that the whole world knows it, maybe not by name, but by its infectious Flamenco rhythm. This iconic characteristic was not looked over by the team behind today’s release, and the revamped track merges Skylin3’s Tech House rhythms with Flamenco guitar riffs.
‘Bamboléo’
You’re a menace if you can resist the urge to dance to this track. It blends the best of two genres that are already quite irresistible by definition, and the clash of these two forces results in a fresh cut for the dancefloor. Imagine the DJ dropping this in the middle of a high-energy set, and you magically know the rhythm, and the chorus, and start singing along. Yup, the track has that very potential.

A comprehensive roundup of all things Drum & Bass just came out today.
Let us captivate your ears with this piece of news today. Brighton’s Drum & Bass star in the making, Sakkura, has lifted the veil on one of her greatest projects to date, a spellbinding artist album titled ASTRAL, via Atherea Records. To celebrate the launch, Sakkura will also embark on a live tour with her newly formed band, performing as Sakkura Live.
ASTRAL is, as mentioned, a comprehensive roundup of the whole of the Drum & Bass spectrum, effortlessly blending euphoric, vocal-led tracks with intense, gritty beats across its eleven delightful tracks. The album not only highlights Sakkura’s production skills, but also reflects her deep connection to a genre that has profoundly influenced her career and personal life.
ASTRAL
For Sakkura, this project represents a significant phase of transformation and healing, with music serving as a vital means of renewal. The approach Sophia took to crafting the LP is quite unique, as out of the entire tracklist, only one is 100% her work. The other nine tracks were thought out and constructed as collaborations, further enhancing her will to contribute to the DnB — and ultimately Dance — community.
Contributions come from an impressive array of talent including Miss Melody, Riva, Ten-K, Dee Freer, Project Takeover, Hoodz, RV, and Mavrik. “ASTRAL really has been a journey for me, both personally and artistically“, says Sophia (Sakkura). “As an album it’s a true representation of where I have been musically, but creatively it has allowed me to collaborate with some of my closest friends in a way that I haven’t been able to before. It’s very freeing to finally have it released and we have already started putting the next project together“.
One thing I truly enjoy about Sakkura’s vision is how she believes collaborations are key to unlocking new sounds, instead of just blending two already existing ones. She describes her collaborators as close friends, almost like family, and explains that working together allows them to be creatively unrestricted.
Writer’s Picks
I love the fact that all songs have their unique flair to them, and they all represent sort of a different corner of DnB. I’m not a connoisseur of the genre by any means, but I do dig it, and in particular, one track that stood out to me from the first listen was ‘So Free‘, the second track of the album. It’s just such a lovely track to me. It sounds old-school, it sounds fast-paced, like it has an urge to imprint its message on one as a listener.
Also, ‘Purity‘ takes a close silver medal on my four listens to the album from start to finish. Actually, I’ll go on to say this one might be my absolute favourite track whenever I’m not hypnotised by the percussion present in ‘So Free’. Its euphoric, singalong-ey nature truly leaves a lasting impression, and those gated vocal beds are just a nod to my ever home: Trance. Plus, the track as a whole reminds me of the Blackbox era of Need For Speed games, which were my childhood. I’m sorry, I can’t be unbiased when nostalgia comes into play.
Sakkura — ASTRAL Tracklist
Bad Girl with Riva & Miss Melody So Free with Riva, Ten-K & Miss Melody Gravitation with Dee Freer & Project Takeover Ethereal with Riva & Miss Melody Double Filthy with Miss Melody, Hoodz & Riva Purity with Riva Ultrasound with Miss Melody & RV Taking Me Higher with Riva & Miss Melody Peep Show Human Storage with Hoods Bristol Beats with Mavrik & Hoodz Final Words
Overall, the whole album is an interesting journey. So interesting, in fact, that only by the third album listen did I actually notice the tracks in which certain artists performed, all had a distinctive vibe to them. That was eye-opening for me, and I can surely state that idea of the ambiguous collective is fully present. And contrary to how it sounds from the get-go to use such a concept, it’s executed in the best way possible in here. Truly a job well done.

"Long-awaited" is a gross understatement for Telos, Zedd's new album. For nine years fans have anxiously waited, and the dance music icon made sure it wasn't in vain.
Unlike his global hit singles "The Middle" and "Stay," which dabbled in tried-and-true dance-pop arrangements, Telos illuminates a more analytical side of Zedd that craves artistic expression through unexpected mediums.
"Telos has multiple meanings, one of them being 'accomplishment' or 'completion of human art,'" Zedd explains. "'The end' is another interpretation of it, and I relate to all of them. I grew up listening to these albums that shaped me as a musician, and I never thought I would be able to create anything as good as those, but as I was completing Telos, I really felt the same emotion I was given by those incredible albums when I grew up.
"I created something I didn't think I was capable of—it just took a long time."
Ivan Meneses/AI Visuals
The Telos tracklist reflects the influence of classical and orchestral compositions on Zedd's artistry, with each song containing the theatrical whimsy that stems from his musical upbringing. It's an intentional yet unabashed mixture of synth and symphony, resulting in an album of timeless proportions.
Funk holds an indomitable sway over many Telos tracks, with slap-bass acting as the glue that ties together their arrangements. That approach gleams throughout "Automatic Yes," a compelling collaboration with John Mayer; and "Out of Time" and "Tangerine Rays," each of which feature a radiant Bea Miller.
The flames of exploration are then starkly stoked with the intense and worldly solo interlude "Shanti," a collaboration with Zedd's "Middle" collaborators, Grey. The understated "No Gravity" (with Bava) follows in similarly penetrating fashion, blasting us from world travels into outer space. Here, an undertow of tenderness eliminates gravity, leaving soothing bass guitar and gentle vocals to serve as our only tether to the ground.
In an unexpected—but completely welcome—pivot, Zedd taps Irish folk group the olllam for "Sona," bringing a retro, cinematic twist to Telos. Elsewhere, "Descensus" soars with fiery electric guitar riffs and dramatic cymbal crashes, leading a futuristic charge alongside pop artist Dora Jar.
An undeniable highlight of Telos arrives with "Dream Brother," which samples the late great musician Jeff Buckley's song of the same name from his celebrated 1994 album Grace. Awash in Zedd's futuristic production, the track churns to a drum beat that resembles the eeriness of a ticking clock counting down to the unknown.
Closing out Telos, legendary rock group Muse joins Zedd for "1685," a track that swells with a fierce and theatrical fervor. Clocking at just over six minutes, the track sounds as a lullaby might, the gentle plunking of notes serving as a reverent reflection on the many masterstrokes of the album.
Opening up about the album, Zedd paints a picture of a deeply personal journey of cognitive dissonance, ultimately emerging victorious with regard to his vision.
"What I've always dreamed of doing is creating an album that I genuinely believe 30 years from today, I will look back and be incredibly proud of, that will be just as amazing then as it is right this moment, because it's not based on trends," Zedd explains. "It's not based on sound design that might fall off after a while. It's based on music, and so are the albums that I still to this day adore that were released 20, 30, 40, and 50 years ago. [With Telos], I accomplished just that. It just took a bit of time to get there."

Leaked UK Government documents have revealed proposed plans to extend the indoor smoking ban to areas outside nightclubs, pubs, restaurants, and football stadiums. If approved, the ban would spell the end of smoking in outdoor nightclub smoking areas, as well as in pub gardens. Ministers are considering this action to curb the uptake of smoking and vaping, especially among young people. However, the hospitality sector argues that a ban could adversely affect their businesses.
The ban is part of a broader set of measures proposed in a bill targeting tobacco and vaping. The goal is to gradually eliminate smoking by banning the sale of tobacco and vapes to anyone born after January 2009. Originally introduced by the previous Conservative Government under Rishi Sunak, Keir Starmer’s Labour Government has now adopted this idea.
The measures would apply only to England. The other UK nations would be allowed to make their own decisions. Starmer did not rule out a ban on smoking in nightclub smoking areas and pub gardens. He had this to say:
Full plans for the outdoor smoking ban are likely to change following consultations, but it’s understood that many figures within Starmer’s Labour cabinet are in favor of such measures.

Marc Romboy and An On Bast, both part of the Awesome Soundwave family, connected during several electrifying label showcases hosted by the legendary Carl Cox. Their shared passion for spontaneous creativity led them to embark on a series of jam sessions, purely for the joy of making music together.
With no specific goals in mind other than having fun, An On Bast and Marc Romboy met twice in his studio, diving into freeform jams with drum machines and modular systems. The result? On August 27th, 2024, stepping into Cinespace for the revival of DIM MAK TUESDAYS felt like entering a time machine. The legendary LA party, once the pulse of the underground music scene, made its triumphant return as a monthly event, transporting attendees back to the late 2000s and early 2010s. For a few glorious hours, it was as if the last decade had melted away, and we were once again the rebels on the fringes, united by our love for electro, fidget, and punk-infused dance music.
A Time Capsule of the Blog House Era
Walking into the Bourbon Room, where Cinespace now resides, was like stepping back into a snapshot of the blog house era. The venue’s atmosphere immediately triggered memories of a time when “EDM” was still an unfamiliar acronym and the scene belonged to the outsiders. The night’s soundtrack, a perfect blend of heavy electro and gritty punk dance, resonated with the same raw energy that first drew so many of us to the dance floor. It was the kind of night that made you feel 18 again, surrounded by kindred spirits who understood that this music was more than just sound—it was a movement.
The Bloody Beetroots and a Breath of Fresh Air
The highlight of the night came courtesy of The Bloody Beetroots, who delivered a set that was nothing short of a revelation. It was a potent reminder of why I—and so many others—fell in love with this scene in the first place. Their performance was an electrifying burst of nostalgia that reawakened a sense of euphoria that had been dormant for far too long. In a world where music festivals have become mainstream and polished, DIM MAK TUESDAYS offered a breath of fresh air, a return to the unfiltered, rebellious spirit that made the early days so exhilarating.
A Night for the True Believers
As I looked around the crowd, I couldn’t help but feel a deep connection to those around me. Even without knowing their names, I knew these were “my people.” The sense of camaraderie was palpable; we were all there for the same reason—to relive the golden days of the scene and to celebrate the music that had shaped our lives. The lineup, featuring Bones b2b Bot (with Bot formerly half of Crookers), Fashen, Dan Oh, and surprise guests, only deepened that sense of unity. It was clear that this night was more than just a party—it was a gathering of a community that had once defined itself as much by its music as by its rejection of the mainstream.
The Future of DIM MAK TUESDAYS
As the night came to a close, I couldn’t help but wonder what the future holds for DIM MAK TUESDAYS. If this first event was any indication, the monthly party is set to reignite the same explosive energy that made it a cornerstone of LA’s nightlife over a decade ago. For those of us who were there back in the day, it’s a chance to relive our formative years. For the new generation, it’s an opportunity to experience a piece of music history that helped shape the dance music landscape as we know it today. One thing’s for sure—I’ll be back, and I can’t wait to see where this revival takes us next.
