As the year draws to a close, music fans are eagerly anticipating the announcement of the Coachella 2025 lineup. While industry insiders are speculating about potential headliners, the exact lineup remains a mystery. That said, rumors have arisen that Fred again.. will be not only a lock, but a headliner of the festival.
According to the outlet HITS Daily Double, the young sensation would be among the first on Coachella’s flyer next year. However, the rest of the top-tier acts are still up in the air. There are speculations that a country music star with pop appeal, such as Jelly Roll, Morgan Wallen, or Post Malone, might be included in the lineup.
Another question mark is who will fill the sub-headliner special guest spot that was occupied by No Doubt last year and Calvin Harris the year before. While Fred again.. is a strong contender, it’s possible he could even be a headliner this year.
Two notable artists who will not be headlining Coachella in 2025 are Rihanna and Kendrick Lamar. Both artists have declined the opportunity, citing other commitments — Lamar gearing up for the Super Bowl, and Rihanna not needing the slot at the festival due to how big of an artist and entrepreneur she has become.

Sofi Tukker is a New York-based musical duo known for their infectious rhythms, vibrant aesthetics, and unforgettable performances. Comprising Sophie Hawley-Weld and Tucker Halpern, they burst onto the scene with “Drinkee,” which earned a Grammy nomination in 2017. Since then, the duo has become synonymous with dance hits like “Best Friend” and “Purple Hat.” Their eclectic mix of house, pop, and Brazilian-influenced beats has made them a fixture in the dance music world.
On October 5th, Sofi Tukker brought their high-energy show to Washington, D.C., performing to a sold-out crowd at The Anthem. As soon as the lights dimmed, it was clear that the night would be one to remember.
Venue
The Anthem, located in the thriving Wharf district of Washington, D.C., is a premier venue for live music. Since its opening in 2017, The Anthem has hosted a variety of acts ranging from rock legends to EDM icons. The venue boasts a versatile capacity of 2,500 to 6,000 attendees, thanks to its movable stage and backdrop. With stunning views of the waterfront and an array of bars and restaurants nearby, it’s the perfect spot to enjoy a night out before heading to a show.
Inside, The Anthem’s balconies are designed to bring fans closer to the stage, enhancing the overall concert experience. The 57,000-square-foot venue felt intimate despite its size, making it an ideal place to witness Sofi Tukker’s electrifying set.
Food & Drinks
The Anthem offers a diverse selection of food and beverages that cater to all tastes. The drink menu includes various beers starting at $10 and wines at $14. On the food side, the options ranged from international cuisines such as Margherita Pizza Empanadas and Argentine Beef Empanadas to local favorites like Chicken Masala Wraps and Vegan Falafel Wraps, priced between $13 and $15. There were also shareable plates like Pretzel Bites ($11) and classic Popcorn ($5), though the prices are on par with typical D.C. stadium pricing.
Stage
The stage setup for Sofi Tukker’s show was nothing short of spectacular. With a towering central arc flanked by pillars and multiple platforms, it set the tone for a visually dynamic performance. An expansive LED screen served as the backdrop, coming to life with every beat and burst of light. The stage was illuminated by colorful lasers and visual effects, creating an immersive atmosphere that complemented the music perfectly.
Music & Production
Sofi Tukker opened the show in their signature playful style, holding up bread to the delight of the crowd as they launched into their hit track “Bread.” Throughout the night, the duo’s chemistry was on full display, and their excitement about performing at The Anthem was palpable—they shared that this show was a dream come true after previously opening for Odesza at the same venue in 2017.
The setlist was a blend of fan favorites and newer tracks, including “Throw Some Ass,” “Hey Homie,” “Drinkee,” and “Original Sin.” Each song was elevated by dazzling choreography, a troupe of energetic dancers, and a stunning array of lasers and lights that filled the venue. Every beat seemed to pulse through the crowd, keeping the energy at a high level from start to finish.
Final Impressions
Sofi Tukker’s performance at The Anthem was a vivid reminder of why they have become a beloved name in electronic music. Their ability to connect with the audience and turn a concert into a communal experience is second to none. It’s no surprise the show was sold out, with fans eager to see them perform live again after years of anticipation.
For anyone who hasn’t yet experienced Sofi Tukker live, this concert was a testament to their showmanship and the pure joy they bring to the stage. It’s safe to say that their performance at The Anthem will be remembered as one of the highlights of Washington, D.C.’s fall concert season.

Co-written by Avicii, Ash Pournouri, Salem Al Fakir, Vincent Pontare, and Veronica Maggio, the track soared to the top of the charts in numerous countries, including Austria, Belgium, Brazil, France, Germany, Sweden, and the UK.
What set ‘Hey Brother’ apart was its unique combination of genres, pairing an emotional, country-inspired melody with Avicii‘s signature electronic beats. The song’s powerful vocals, delivered by bluegrass singer Dan Tyminski, and its heartfelt lyrics touched millions of fans globally, further solidifying Avicii‘s reputation as a musical innovator. As the music industry continues to evolve, the road to success for independent artists seems to be getting even steeper.
A new report published by Right Chord Music and Musosoup, "The Musician's Census 2024," highlights a series of hurdles that make navigating the path of an independent musician more difficult than ever.
The Musician's Census is one of the most in-depth surveys of grassroots musicians. The global study gathered responses from 300 independent artists across 64 countries, and the trends that emerge paint a stark picture of an industry where getting paid, being heard and building a fanbase are becoming monumental tasks for musicians trying to stay financially afloat.
One of the most alarming revelations of the data centers on payment. Nearly two-thirds of respondents admitted they aren't fully aware if they are receiving the full extent of what they are owed, nor are they certain they aren't. It’s a baffling reality that leaves musicians questioning how they can sustain their careers when financial transparency is often elusive.
Another overwhelming challenge, the report suggests, is the sheer difficulty of gaining exposure. A staggering 54% of musicians said getting their music heard is their biggest hurdle. Market over-saturation was cited as a one major factor, with the constant flood of new releases making it nearly impossible to stand out along with the proliferation of AI-generated music.
Ultimately, 68% of respondents agreed that the path of an independent musician is "tougher than ever," underscoring the mounting obstacles in the bedrock of today’s music industry. You can read and download the full report here.

When it comes to DJing, having the right gear is essential for delivering a top-notch performance. Danish audio company AIAIAI has recently unveiled a groundbreaking innovation in the world of DJ headphones – the TMA-2 DJ headphones, specifically designed for wireless DJing. With ultra-low latency below ten milliseconds, these headphones are set to revolutionize the way DJs perform.
Design and Features
The TMA-2 DJ headphones boast a sleek and modern design that is both functional and stylish. The 40mm bio-cellulose diaphragm is a standout feature, as it is specifically engineered to deliver crisp and powerful bass, as well as clear treble, ensuring that DJs can hear every nuance of their music. The memory foam ear cushions provide a comfortable fit and excellent sound isolation, allowing DJs to focus on their mix without any distractions.
One of the most impressive features of the TMA-2 DJ headphones is their battery life of 25 hours, which ensures that DJs can keep the party going all night long without worrying about running out of power. The place of all places for Dance music sourcing is finally introducing a very handy lossless format.
Great news comes today from Beatport, the go-to website for sourcing Electronic music. They’ve expanded their offerings with the introduction of high-quality FLAC audio. Now, both Beatport Streaming Professional and Beatsource Streaming Pro+ subscribers can enjoy a wider range of music with crystal-clear sound quality, and with considerably less size and, in turn, buffering time.
FLAC audio files are smaller in size, yet still a lossless way which doesn’t compress the audio information in the way other extensions encode data, for example the various instances of mp3 which, although very handy, sacrifice clarity and a wide range of frequencies to save up on size.
Adding FLAC format to Beatport will ensure DJs experience faster loading times than with WAV or AIFF, while delivering uncompromised, professional sound quality. Professional plan subscribers can easily switch between streaming audio quality in their chosen DJ platform.
“At Beatport, our mission has always been to provide DJs with the highest quality music and the best tools to elevate their performances”, said Helen Sartory, Chief Revenue Officer of The Beatport Group. “The introduction of lossless FLAC audio to Beatport Streaming is a game-changer, ensuring that our subscribers can deliver the ultimate sound experience to their audiences. This upgrade reaffirms our commitment to innovation and excellence in the world of DJ music“.

Subsonic Music Festival, one of Australia’s most celebrated underground music and lifestyle festivals, has announced its 15th-anniversary edition, set to take place just north of Sydney from November 29 to December 1, 2024. Known for its dynamic lineup of music, stunning natural setting, and vibrant community spirit, Subsonic has become a haven for music lovers, creatives, and those seeking an escape from the mainstream.
This year marks a significant milestone for Subsonic as it celebrates 15 years of bringing together diverse communities through music, art, and immersive experiences. Made even more significant given the current events and festival climate in NSW and Australia, against the odds Subsonic is determined to show us why we still need music festivals in our lives.
“We’ve come a long way since our first festival, and it’s been incredible to see the community grow and evolve with us,” says Festival Director Scott Commens. “This year’s lineup is a reflection of our journey – a blend of the sounds that have defined us over the years and fresh, innovative artists who are shaping the future of music.”
This year’s musical lineup features a huge array of international, interstate and local talent spread across an wide variety of DJs and bands from a diverse range of genres and backgrounds.

International headliners from the US and Europe include DJ heavyweights Radio Slave, Toman, Gene on Earth, .Vril, Polygonia and Viken Arman stacked alongside legendary veterans and cult like selectors DJ Zip and Sammy Dee to name only a few. They are joined by an impressive whose who of local and interstate DJs, live acts and bands. Sydney’s “it” artist of the moment Becca Hatch makes her much anticipated Subsonic debut, alongside other live acts like Byron Bay boy wonder Moontide, Melbourne’s The Oddness and others.

Adding to the already impressive musical offering are some of Australia’s favourite DJs like Anthony Pappa, Simon Caldwell and Barney Kato (doing very special b2b by the river) as well as Cassette, Robbie Lowe, Morgan, Deepa and others. Melbourne favourites flying in include festival circuit regulars Soju Gang, DJ PGZ, Kelly Tee, Dylan Griffin, April Kerry, Danni B and the one and only Monday (yes Monday!) party starters The Breakfast Club DJs and more.

Being a beloved member of the wider Sydney music community the festival has also invited some of the cities most respected club brands and musical outfits too. This includes Return to Rio (whose festival was cancelled this year), SASH, GiRLTHING, Club 77 and after an immensely popular and talked about VIVID performance, the unstoppable party starters Bare Necessities Collective among others.
The notorious Sydney-based, but now global, Sunday institution SASH is bringing an all-star lineup to the Sunday on the festival’s Paradiso Stage, with resident DJs and very special Dutch house music man of the moment, Toman joining them. Legendary and long-standing Club 77 has had a huge revival in recent years and has become a hot spot for Sydney dance music heads, and they are bringing a diverse range of musical talent to this year’s festival including Deepa, DJ PGZ, Barney in the Tunnel (veteran DJ, Barney Kato’s side project) and more.

A new addition of invited clubbing institutions to the festival’s music program includes two UK/Sydney-based brands, Doozie Records with some signature UK Garage for the Pizza Lab Stage. As well as GiRLTHING taking to The River Stage, which is the brainchild of the much celebrated DJ, Jacqui Cunningham, whose events in Sydney and the UK are a crowd favourite not just in the LGBTQi community but the dance music scene as a whole.
The festival’s live music element is spearheaded by festival regulars the Bare Necessities Collective, a group of likeminded musical aficionados that year on year gathers more and more fans, culminating this year in a crowd-stopping VIVID Sydney performance and the Subsonic Music Launch at the Factory theatre this past winter. They join an already stacked lineup of hybrid bands and singers such as Kaiman Jimenez & Kobra 3000 feat. Queen Nedd, Chris Munky & P.Smurf and the award-winning Becca Hatch whose music this year has been widely played all over Sydney radio.
It is no mistake that while some of these names may be well known, some of them may be flying under the radar (for now). Subsonic Music Festival has a history of introducing some amazing DJs and bands to Australia long before they became household names – artists like Jamie Jones, Honey Dijon, and Boris Brejcha to name some now very notable superstar DJs. This has been by design as the team works tirelessly to discover and bring you the next generation of talent. Years before they were headlining festivals, Subsonic had the foresight and were lucky enough to share their music with you in what has become one of Australia’s favourite music festivals for underground music and culture.
“We have some artists this year that we believe are on that similar trajectory along with some veteran underground, cult-like-status music selectors” said Dylan McDade, Communications Director & Assistant Programmer of the annual NSW festival.
The musical lineup is just one element that makes Subsonic special—the other is the greater festival community. The workshop and lifestyle area of the festival aptly named, The Village is a space for festival goers to play, interact, connect, learn, discover, relax and express themselves through interactive workshops, art, classes, talks and much more. This year, Subsonic has reimagined this beloved space into an expansive new mini precinct, featuring two stages, a shaded massage oasis, captivating art installations, and an array of elixir stalls and shops.
This year’s festival boasts another wide array of workshops, within The Village space, from invigorating ice baths by the river and serene morning yoga sessions to sound immersions, speed dating, breathwork, and thought-provoking talks on crypto, embodiment and much more – The Village invites festival attendees on a journey of discovery and connection, designed for the mildly curious to the adventurous.
“We’ve always believed that Subsonic is more than just a festival – it’s a place where people come together to express themselves, connect with others, discover, and celebrate life,” adds Event Manager, Vanessa Fields. “This year, we’re taking that to the next level with new experiences and surprises that will make this anniversary edition truly unforgettable.”
While the festival industry has seen its share of obstacles, Subsonic Music Festival is moving forward with a renewed sense of purpose and celebration. As many festivals have been impacted by rising costs, as seen repeatedly in the news cycle, Subsonic has doubled down on its commitment to bringing people together.
15 years is a long time for anything, it is particularly long for a music festival and particularly in the current festival and events climate. Continuing more broadly on the current state of the music industry and festivals in particular, Vanessa said, “At a time when the music industry and events space are struggling and with many festival cancellations making the news, we (more than ever) still emphatically believe in providing a platform that brings together a broad like-minded community in a way that’s unique and offers a much-needed space for expression, discovery and connection in these testing times”.
And at its core, Subsonic is about that community. For over a decade, the festival has cultivated a loyal and diverse following of festival-goers who return year after year to reconnect with old friends and make new ones while welcoming in newcomers to discover it all for the first time.
“Our community is what makes Subsonic special,” says Festival Director, Scott Commens. “Whether it’s through a shared love of music, art, or simply the joy of being together in such a beautiful setting, Subsonic is a place where everyone is welcome, and everyone is part of the experience.”
With the first release tickets selling out in record time, 2nd release tickets are now available, but they’re moving fast. Festival goers are encouraged to secure their spot by the river early to avoid missing out. Tickets can be purchased through the festival’s official website with included flexible payment options.

An immersive music and performance based experience, inspired by, and based upon the psychedelic, spiritual art of Alex & Allyson Grey; the event takes participants on a cosmic journey through the peaks and valleys of human consciousness. Close your eyes and picture a stage where transcendental beings move against hypnotic backdrops, and where the sacred geometry of the Grey’s world renowned art is brought to life.

The performers, dressed in costumes designed by Alex and Allyson, will inhabit characters based on elements of the divine imagination. Angel-headed dancers, with flaming third eyes, and stilt-walking seraphim with iridescent wings, move through the space with supernatural grace, guiding you through landscapes of surreal beauty. Less a party and more a kaleidoscopic initiation ceremony, entering the Hallucinarium means entering a space where ‘Hallucinangels’ and ‘Moongoats’ frolic with abandon, while colossal multifaceted gods invade a DJ booth flanked by monumental sculptures inspired by interdimensional beings and the secret language of the psychedelic experience.
The to be announced sonic selectors will lead the crowd in an ecstatic celebration with waves of the finest house, techno, tech-house and everything in-between. A spectacular fusion of art, music and spirituality; Hallucinarium is for those looking to transcend the mundane, and experience a different reality.

Chicago’s Radius and Miami’s Factory Town each offer unique atmospheres that perfectly complement the immersive experience of Hallucinarium. Radius is a sprawling warehouse space boasting state-of-the-art production capabilities, making it a prime destination for large-scale electronic music events. Factory Town offers an open-air, industrial playground with a raw, urban aesthetic. Renowned for hosting some of the most forward-thinking events during Art Basel, its gritty charm and creative energy set the stage for a truly transformative experience under the Miami sky.
Get ready for a multisensory journey that will change the way you perceive the world. Hallucinarium promises to take you beyond the limits of reality, and into the realms of pure Imagination.
