Tronce! Just kidding, time for some beautiful Trance! Digital Culture, consisting of producers RAM and Richard Durand, are making their debut on Dreamstate Records with their new single, ‘State of Bliss’. This track is the first one they worked on together, that sparked the idea of their joint venture.
‘State of Bliss’
It’s an uplifting anthem introduced by a galloping Techno groove before switching gears into an ethereal breakdown and euphoric, arp-powered conclusion. We are in an era of EDM where DJs continue to blend genres together, making snobs second guess themselves and their puritan culture. It is just then that the full potential of EDM is unlocked.
Digical Culture is establishing high expectations to what this duo will become. Nevertheless, they are pioneers within their own solo careers. And, we are truly excited to be a part of this wave of new Trance, Techno, and other genre-mixing glory.
Digital Culture
On one hand, Amsterdam-based producer RAM has left his stamp on the trance circuit for well beyond a decade. He has been standing on a slew of chart-topping hits and award-winning productions. On the other hand, fellow Amsterdam sensation Richard Durand has held a similar trajectory in terms of duration and recognition. He is another hit-making name from the upper echelons of the genre. They have an upcoming festival play at Dreamstate SoCal, and in the last year, they’ve released music on reputable labels including Black Hole Recordings, FSOE, Nocturnal Knights, Outburst, and In Trance We Trust.
Do you feel the bliss yet? we do. Here it goes: ‘State of Bliss’

Out today is Steve Angello’s latest single, ‘Hooligans‘ ahead of his highly anticipated Brooklyn Mirage show tonight. This single follows Angello’s previous solo release, ‘ME‘ and collaboration with fellow Swedish House Mafia band member, Sebastian Ingrosso, for their release ‘Skip.’
Angello’s previous appearance at the Brooklyn Mirage was earlier this year for a special one-night-only performance with Swedish House Mafia. The performance marked the band’s first show in New York since 2022 and Brooklyn Mirage’s first show of the 2024 season. After the performance, Swedish House Mafia played a historic 6-week Ushuaïa Ibiza Residency in addition to an array of international music festivals including Garorock Festival, Panama Open Air Festival, Lucca Summer Festival, Untold Festival, Findings Festival and the mainstage at Tomorrowland, which marked their return to the festival after 12 years.
Steve Angello – Hooligans
About Steve Angello
Long before earning GRAMMY® Award nominations, performing to millions of fans on multiple continents, crashing charts worldwide, and tallying streams in the billions, Steve Angello realized his purpose as a kid in Sweden. He collaborated with childhood friend Sebastian Ingrosso before launching his own label SIZE during 2003. He also teamed up with Axwell in Supermode, landing a hit with ‘Tell Me
Why.‘ In 2008, he co-founded Swedish House Mafia with Axwell and Ingrosso. They earned consecutive GRAMMY nods for Best Dance Recording with the Platinum ‘Save the World‘ in 2012 and quintuple-Platinum ‘Don’t You Worry Child‘ in 2013. Angello also asserted himself as a solo force of nature. He occupied a spot on DJ Mag’s coveted Top 100 DJs list for 14 consecutive years and received two DJ Awards. Following his full-length debut, Wild Youth, he ascended to another creative peak on his 2018 sophomore offering, Human. 2021 marked the momentous return of Swedish House Mafia with their long-awaited debut LP, Paradise Again – which topped the Billboard Top Dance/Electronic Albums Chart and UK Official Dance Albums Chart – and subsequent world tour.

In Oliver Heldens' and Armin van Buuren's long-awaited single "Freedom," we come to grips with the fact that sometimes the most addictive kind of freedom is choosing your own beautiful disaster.
Out now via Armada, the track is the first official collaboration between van Buuren and Heldens. The Dutch dance music superstars teamed up to release "Now Love Will Begin" in April, but that record is credited to Heldens' techno alias, HI-LO.
"Freedom" flips the script on its own title, exploring the magnetic pull of a relationship you can't—and don't want to—escape. It's the musical equivalent of a 3am text you know you shouldn't send but absolutely will.
Heldens and van Buuren merge their styles seamlessly, crafting a dance-pop anthem with synths that pulse like warning signs on a road you can't help but drive down anyway. Meanwhile, Sam Harper's vocals cut through the mix with confident precision, playing the role of the irresistible ex who knows exactly how this late-night story ends. "Ten girls in your phone, which one do you call" she taunts, already knowing the answer.
The London-based singer-songwriter's assertive vocal delivery hits like a stiletto to the heart, turning toxic dependency into a badge of honor. In true dance music fashion, her lyricism and Heldens' and van Buuren's four-on-floor beats transform emotional warfare into something you can't help but move to.

Disclosure venture into darker, more brooding territory with their new single, "Arachnids."
When we reviewed last summer's Alchemy album, we wrote that Disclosure were producing music with a renewed sense of creative vision after parting ways with Capitol Records. That remains true after today's release of "Arachnids," a compellingly menacing shift for the duo.
The experimental track was written and produced by Disclosure's Guy Lawrence, who says he plunged into "an ever-evolving creative puzzle of sound design and groove exploration" when recording it.
"Arachnids" spins a web of unsettling rhythms that creep up your spine, far removed from their signature house beats. Devoid of the schmaltzy warmth of global dance hits like "Latch," this is Disclosure in a new skin.
The duo's trademark polish remains, but it's been corrupted—beautifully so—by something more sinister. Their familiar four-on-the-floor pulse is gone, replaced by a skittering breakbeat arrangement that feels like it's hunting you in a dark alley.
Their production really shines in the break, where eerie strings and operatic vocal swells crawl through the track like its namesake. Those elements contort into a tense build before another drop, where Lawrence produces distorted drum fills and a textured bassline you can feel in your bones.

Kinesia by Nicola Cruz On his third studio album, the Ecuadorian producer masterfully blends rich studio sessions with deep analog synthesis. Kinesia invites the listener to channel an inner voice — to pick up thoughts, words, and messages as if ancient information traveling through time has been received. This album functions as a form of ‘antenna,’ translating these ideas into compositions and movement.

The album begins with a 5/4 rhythm structure, summoning the voice of machina into a textural atmosphere, led by Perma, Nicola’s vision of an infinite breaks vortex, and sustains the tension with the meditative Telepathine, a substance fictionally associated with telepathy.

Regardless of the tempo, each track is intricately laced with chants, subtle percussion, textures, and spacious details that draw you back for more.

With Kinesia, Nicola Cruz continues to evolve his signature sound and takes you along for the ride. While the album is crafted for a deep, introspective journey, the kinetic influence remains ever-present on dance floors.

The French electronic music team known for their hard-hitting techno compositions, KAS:ST, exhibits a mesmerizing artistic development on their most recent track “Are We Truly Free?” Published on Insomniac’s Interstellar Recordings, this tune represents their first on the melodic techno-oriented label and points to an interesting new path in their sonic adventure.
The song shows their adaptability as producers since it differs significantly from the trademark strong techno sound of KAS:ST. They have created a more subtle approach stressing ethereal melodies and atmospheric textures while keeping their unique energy. This natural development instead of a forced one suggests a deliberate change in their creative perspective.
The track’s deft use of organ sounds—which produces sweeping, airy melodies that seem to float above the rhythmic basis—defines it. These components give the production a spiritual, even cathedral-like character, so contrasting with the pounding techno beats below.
Especially remarkable are the vocals on the song. The title phrase has a terrible connotations that give the work levels of reflection. Extra enigmatic vocal components surface at the second breakdown, so strengthening the emotional resonance and atmosphere of the track.
Although the production keeps KAS:ST’s signature attention to detail in sound design, the work is softer than past projects. With well-crafted breaks that accentuate the intensity of the track’s peak moments, the arrangement shows a nuanced awareness of tension and release.

Liverpool’s Grand Central Dome
The venue has a capacity of 3,576 people and is a key cultural spot in Liverpool’s entertainment scene. Before Third Party, DJs like Jax Jones, D.O.D and Paul Oakenfold will take over The Dome. Following a shutdown in 2022, a group of hospitality professionals restored and reopened the location in 2023, turning it into a cutting-edge multi-event venue with fresh facilities, top class sound system and better lighting.
The building stands out from other music event spaces as it has a magic story behind it. Now, it is known for its unique event space and the stunning Art Nouveau design which makes it a Grade II historic site.
Should You Attend The Event
This is a chance like no other to see one of the most iconic duos in the electronic music world. Putting on a show featuring the finest sounds of tech house and progressive house, Third Party are expected to bring the ultimate heat to Liverpool’s Dome. Marlon Hoffstadt, fans of whom call "DJ Daddy Trance," kicked off ADE with his first-ever solo performance at the world's leading electronic music summit.
His highly anticipated Awakenings event, "Daddycation"—named after his latest EP—took place at Amsterdam's famed Gashouder. The 360° venue provided us with a fully immersive experience, regardless of our viewpoint.
From the moment Hoffstadt hit the stage, the atmosphere was electric. His devoted fans, affectionately known as his "children," came out in full force, dancing to every beat and building the energy to a fever pitch. The vibe was so infectious that even the onsite paramedics were singing along, word-for-word, to tracks from Daddycation.
Hoffstadt's rapid rise has been undeniable, and his sold-out ADE headlining set reinforced his place at the top. The night was an audiovisual spectacle featuring his biggest hits, including the standout track "It's That Time," which was one of the most-played songs at Tomorrowland and remixed by heavyweights like FISHER.
Marlon Hoffstadt Drops "It's That Time" at Awakenings ADE (0:13) Midway through the performance, Hoffstadt amped up the excitement by stripping off his rugby-lined, long-sleeve top to reveal his newly launched line of merchandise. Rocking his bold "Daddy" tank, he kept the energy high and his "children's" spirits lifted. Vibrant Hoffstadt-themed visuals echoing his brand lit up the screens throughout the venue.
Adding to the night’s magic, Hoffstadt welcomed several close friends and fan-favorites to join him onstage, like Malugi, who recently joined him for a scintillating b2b Boiler Room set in London. Their palpable chemistry peaked during their euphoric "Work Bitch" remix, sending the crowd into a frenzy as the they embraced one another.
Hoffstadt has undoubtedly cast a trance over his fans, and if his solo ADE debut is any indication, the "Daddy" era is just getting started. Check out his Daddycation EP below.

The beloved Las Vegas campus is mutating into scAREA15 for a unique event, Strange Circus, which organizers are calling a "post-apocalyptic carnival" where cyborg contortionists and deranged circus performers stalk through the shadows.
It's not all frights, of course. Delights will come in the form of a killer lineup led by headliners Whethan, Baby Gravy (Yung Gravy and bbno$) and Connor Price. Attendees can also join the madness by competing in a costume contest, where the line between performer and participant blurs in true AREA15 fashion.

On the eve of their special stage takeover at Ritvales Festival in Medellin, Colombia this November, EDMTunes spoke with the DJ/producer and stage curator, Jetzen, about his inspiration as an artist and what led to this moment. Footage from past years’ Ritvales Festivals show Jetzen’s Aeonica stage as being accessed after patrons ride a human-sized “toy train” from what appears to be the main festival grounds to a secluded outdoor area under a canopy of sub-tropical trees. This secluded area has drawn a bigger and bigger audience each year, with some years seeing even mainstage performers sneaking over to play an unannounced set. The Aeonica stage is set in a clearing on the grass where music-lovers can vibe-out with their bare feet grounded directly to Mother Earth, if people so wish, and the area is such that the “dancefloor” naturally expands outward from the DJ booth based on how many people gather. The Aeonica stage can be as intimate or as large as the crowd dictates, and the atmosphere according to past festival-goers is one of mystical, naturalistic wonder.
For readers of EDMTunes who may already be attending Ritvales – or who may be considering attending – a pair of super-exclusive VIP “deluxe package” tickets will be available by emailing [email protected]. The deluxe VIP packages include meet-and-greets with select artists, entry to the official pre-party, entry to the festival itself, plus other goodies. (Packages do not include flights, ground transportation or hotels.)
EDMTunes sat down with Jetzen to find out what makes him tick.
EDMTunes: From what we’ve been able to glean, you seem a bit mysterious as an artist. What can you tell us about yourself — and your philosophy — to help readers better understand you?
Jetzen: As an artist, I thrive on the enigmatic nature of creativity and the infinite possibilities it offers. My philosophy revolves around exploring the depths of sound to evoke emotions, provoke thought, and ultimately, to connect with listeners on a profound level. Through my music, whether in the studio crafting new tracks or performing live onstage, I aim to transcend boundaries and create experiences that resonate deeply with audiences worldwide.
EDMTunes: What’s the significance of your DJ alias, Jetzen?
Jetzen: The Jetzen alias embodies my artistic vision and journey. It symbolizes a fusion of high-energy propulsion and Zen-like tranquility, reflecting my approach to music as both a thrilling adventure and a deeply introspective experience. Through Jetzen, I aim to propel listeners into new sonic dimensions while inviting them to find moments of peace and reflection within the music. It’s about striking a balance between dynamism and serenity, of creating a harmonious flow that resonates with the soul.
EDMTunes: There’s a Jetzen Remix on your label’s latest E.P., Lla Lluvia, that’s really groovy. Was there a story behind that release?
Jetzen: The track “Lla Lluvia” delves into the profound symbolism of rain as a manifestation of emotion and spirit. For the remix, I wanted to immerse myself in that concept, capturing the essence of rain’s transformative energy. I incorporated actual rain sounds to enhance the emotional depth, using instruments like the rainmaker—a unique tool that mimics the gentle cascade of raindrops. This approach allowed me to weave the natural rhythm of rain into the remix, creating a sonic experience that resonates with the raw, evocative power of the elements.
EDMTunes: What’s your feeling about the growing chorus of DJs/producers speaking-out about banning cellphones at live shows? What’s your opinion as an artist and performer?
Jetzen: From my perspective, the issue of banning cellphones at live shows is complex and ultimately falls on the venue to navigate. Venues are responsible for balancing the needs of both artists and audiences, including considerations about filming and privacy. If an artist prefers no phones or recordings during their performance, it’s crucial that they discuss and agree on these terms with the venue beforehand. Each venue has its own culture and guidelines, and it’s important for them to understand and address these social nuances to ensure a respectful and enjoyable experience for everyone involved.
EDMTunes: Art doesn’t exist in a vacuum. So, speaking about the arts in broader terms, can you name the “top three” most influential films that have had the biggest, most lasting impact on you?
Jetzen: Three films that have profoundly impacted me are. “The Fifth Element,” “Interstellar “ and “Spaceballs.” “The Fifth Element” stands out for its blend of nostalgia and futurism, combining serious themes with playful elements in a masterful way. “Interstellar” captivates with its exploration of time, space, and human connection. Its stunning portrayal of a post-apocalyptic world leaves a lasting impression. Lastly, “Spaceballs” offers a hilarious and fun perspective, reminding us to enjoy the journey and not take things too seriously. Each of these films uniquely influences my approach to creativity and storytelling.
EDMTunes: Which artists, musicians, performers do you take your musical cues from today? Which artists do you admire, as a consumer of art yourself? What is it about each of these artists that changed your perception of music or art? Did they influence your journey as a music-maker?
Jetzen: As a music-maker, I draw inspiration from artists like Solomun, Boris Brejcha, and Deadmau5, who each bring a unique perspective to electronic music. Their innovative approaches and distinctive sounds have profoundly influenced my own work. Beyond these contemporary influences, I also admire legendary artists from various genres, such as The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Michael Jackson, and Prince, as well as more recent acts like Radiohead and Pearl Jam. The diversity and mastery in their music serve as a rich source of inspiration and have shaped my journey as an artist.
EDMTunes: Where can music-lovers come out to see you DJ? What are the biggest shows you have coming-up for the remainder of 2024?
Jetzen: I’m DJing at a few exciting events this year, including a special show at Sound Nightclub in LA on September 5th. While my schedule is packed with various projects, I’m also set to perform in Medellin, Colombia on November 2nd and 3rd at the Aeonica stage at Ritvales Festival. I’m committed to making each performance memorable and unique for those who attend.
EDMTunes: What can attendees expect from the Aeonica Stage at this year’s Ritvales Festival? What’s the lineup? Can you describe the stage/area? What distinguishes the vibe of the Aeonica Stage from the other stages at Ritvales?
Jetzen: As the curator of the Aeonica stage at Ritvales, we invite artists who embody our core values, serving as ambassadors of our sound—not merely for their ticket-selling power. This year, alongside our team of artists, I’m thrilled to welcome the wonderful Ida Engberg, the dynamic duo Pig and Dan, the ever-evolving DJ Tennis, the iconic GusGus, and, to top it all, the master of musical wisdom, Maceo Plex. In tribute to Colombia’s culture, we’ve also invited several local talent, including the legendary Kamilo Sanclemente and Juan Pablo Torrez closing the event at our after-party—iIt will be the perfect way to welcome the sunrise over the beautiful Medellín skyline.
EDMTunes: We’ve listened to your weekly Aeonica Radio show on LittLive Radio and Radio Eibiza. What’s the process when programming your weekly radio show in terms of track selection, setting the theme of each episode and creating a mood or atmosphere with your mix?
Jetzen: Programming my weekly Aeonica Radio show is an experimental and creative process. I start by categorizing the show’s theme—whether it’s mysterious, uplifting, or chill—and select tracks that fit within these categories. I often draw inspiration from previous shows and different geographic or genre influences, like a Middle Eastern or Afrobeat theme. It’s like curating a menu at a restaurant: each show is a unique blend of styles and sounds, designed to offer a cohesive and engaging listening experience.
EDMTunes: As parting words, can you describe the essence of the art-of-creation that motivates you as a music-maker? What keeps you going?
Jetzen: For me, the art-of-creation lies in the pursuit of sonic innovation and emotional connection. It’s about channeling raw inspiration into melodies that move hearts and rhythms that move bodies. What keeps me going is the thrill of exploring uncharted musical territories, the joy of crafting something unique that resonates with listeners, and the belief that through music, we can transcend barriers and touch souls. It’s a journey of discovery, passion and continuous evolution, where each new track is a testament to the limitless possibilities of artistic expression.

Remember when dancing meant moving your feet instead of your thumbs?
In today's war between FOMO and flow state, excessive smartphone usage is entrenched as one of the most contentious flashpoints in the global electronic dance music scene. As debates around digital intrusion on dancefloors intensify, Heineken has launched a new app, "The Boring Mode," escalating the industry's broader push to balance technological integration with preserved authenticity.
According to research from Heineken, 60% of Gen Z and Millennial smartphone users across the UK, US and the Netherlands reported they believe they'd enjoy concerts more if they could disconnect from their devices. A more grim figure is the 55% of respondents who admitted that they prioritize capturing footage of a performance over being present in the moment, even though 13% said they rarely watch back the videos they record anyway.
"The Boring Mode" aims to restore the authentic dancefloor experience by temporarily disabling a phone's most distracting features, including apps, notifications and camera functions. While some argue that recording and sharing are now integral to modern music culture, Heineken's approach offers a middle ground—voluntary disconnection without completely banning devices.
A proof-of-concept took place during last week's Amsterdam Dance Event, where fans attempting to film Barry Can't Swim's DJ set were instead met with a message—sent using infrared lighting—encouraging them to turn their smartphones "boring." The renowned Scottish DJ and producer, whose real name is Joshua Mainnie, has enthusiastically backed the tool.

"When I heard about the new 'anti-smart' phone concept, it was something that struck a chord with me," Mainnie said. "With live music, of course you are more present and immersed if you are giving it your full attention, rather than taking a video on your phone. And without phones, the energy is definitely different—people are more connected on the dancefloor."
Barry Can't Swim joins a slew of prominent electronic music artists and venues in the crusade against smartphone usage in nightlife. MEDUZA and James Hype launched a campaign to "preserve the authenticity" of club culture by denouncing excessive recording and Wavedash discouraged smartphone use by asking fans to cover their cameras with stickers blazoning the phrase, "Social media? No thanks."
Renowned DJ and festival organizer Damian Lazarus instated a groundbreaking no-phone policy for his summer residency at the famed Hï Ibiza venue, establishing a new precedent on the fabled Spanish party island. Ibiza legend Bob Sinclar also recently lamented the scourge of content culture in nightclubs after a show he called "the worst gig of [his] entire career."
The Boring Mode is available to download for free on iOS and Android.
