TATE SEDAR ensures to cite his progressive house origins in ‘Coming Home (I. M.U)‘ (standing for ‘I Miss You’) – a euphoric, festival-style single melding homesick female vocals with his newer ‘post-EDM’ sound (EDM of the past and present mixed with electroacoustic sounds). This track echoes his beginnings in electro and progressive house as well as a journey for identity and sounds and sights of his home San Francisco, clearly evident in the artwork.
Rewind to 2023 – and TATE was between a rock and a hard place. With the largest number of commercial shows in his career that year and little to no time in the studio, he faced lingering questions: when would he get back in the DAW and what constituted as his ‘sound?’ Artists mature as people do, and TATE was no longer a näive Bay Area kid commercialized by ‘golden age EDM.’ Moving to Los Angeles five years ago allowed him to work in nightlife, traverse the commercial & underground worlds of music and educated himself in the infectious genre markets of electronic and pop within LA’s musical DNA.
Along the way, unbeknownst sounds and pipe dreams were what finally led TATE to his homemade signature [sound]. Although already infatuated with bass and future house, he became engrossed with the eclectic sounds of garage music and modern dancepop. And while learning the lay of the land in LA’s house and techno landscape, he eventually was graced with major shows from Insomniac Events and acquaintances with some of his muses: Wolfgang Gartner, Deniz Koyu and Dubvision. A rare session in that summer of ‘23 led TATE to the chord progression that eventually became “Coming Home.” However – even with the start of catchy vocal chops and an endearing guitar hook, there was nothing quite there to anchor it.
In what ultimately became a turning point for TATE after that year, he saw value in inspiration both old and new. He found nuance in both analog instrumentation and emulation in dance music – citing the album Illusion of Depth (2020) by Mat Zo as a source – and realized that both the non-electronic music (R&B, rock and hip-hop) as well as progressive sounds of his personal development could be a collective beacon for his creativity. In searching for a press shots, Angelino Heights – one of the first neighborhoods in LA with Victorian and Edwardian homes like those in SF – instantly came to his mind. He felt that it was the perfect analogy of how he finds his home both in music and his surroundings. To add to this notion, he comments:
It was finally with a third vocal take and incorporation of post-EDM elements – bells, piano, strings and mandolins – that the chord progression of ‘Coming Home’ came alive and began to germinate in production. The progression always reminded him of the running hills and drives with houses of old and new architecture within San Francisco as well as some nostalgia – leading to that large 80s-like chord stab before the second build. ‘Emotions (ft. PSCYHEDELIC)’ was his first experiment in post-EDM, but ‘Coming Home’ and its vocal tied a new sense of authorship to his post-EDM sound: one that could incorporate the progressive styles of his mentors into its definition and part of himself & his home in its results.
Once again, TATE cements identity in more than just vivid production with another jubilant and radio-welcoming soundscape throughout ‘Coming Home (I.M.U).’ San Francisco has always been his north star, and although he began his journey into post-EDM this year with another track of his birthplace’s namesake, his new single elaborates on his passion of The City by The Bay and an ongoing voyage of his sound.

Matt Sassari is a globally renowned DJ and producer hailing from Marseille, France, known for his distinctive blend of techno, tech house, and minimal sounds. With releases on industry-leading labels like Drumcode, Terminal M, and Truesoul, Sassari has earned widespread acclaim for his intricate production style and infectious grooves. Tracks like ‘Give It to Me‘ have solidified his status as a dancefloor favorite, gaining support from top-tier artists like Carl Cox, Adam Beyer, and Richie Hawtin. Constantly pushing boundaries, Sassari continues to captivate audiences worldwide with his electrifying performances and cutting-edge productions.
Can you tell us the story behind your Submerge collaboration? How did you guys prepare for this track?
BLR and Truetone started the idea for this track using some of my samples that we had already used in our previous collaboration. I suggested they work together on this one, and that’s how ‘Submerge’ was born.
How did your relationship with Drumcode begin, and what has it been like collaborating with such an iconic label?
I’ve been talking with Adam for about 10 years, always trying to release on DC, but I never had the right sound. I was always more aligned with Truesoul. But this time, we finally found the perfect track. Never give up!
Drumcode has a distinct reputation for pushing boundaries in techno. How has working with them influenced your style or approach to music?
Indeed, I needed to incorporate elements into my sound that I don’t usually use in my productions. In fact, BLR was the perfect choice to help evolve the track. He comes from a trance music background, and I believe peak-time techno has been heavily influenced by classic trance sounds.
How do you balance experimenting with new sounds while maintaining your signature style?
I’m always trying to do my best to maintain my signature sound by incorporating my samples that define me, especially when collaborating with someone.
How do you stay inspired and push through creative blocks during the production process?
Honestly, it’s getting harder and harder. I’m always trying to find the perfect sample that nobody has used before, but with so much music being released every week, you have to be both creative and quick to release your track—because someone else might release something similar before you.
What do you have planned for 2025?
I have a lot of tracks ready, but we haven’t found the right home for them yet. I do have one track coming out on Expert Only, which will set the direction for my future releases—something faster that combines tech house, techno, and urban vibes 🙂
You can stream Submerge on all streaming platforms!

Decca Live is a brand-new venue in Jacksonville, FL. that will have its grand opening on Jan. 31, 2025. According to an article from VenuesNow, it is a 1,000-capacity venue that is located in a former hardware store that specializes in ship chandlery. Then, that store later became the headquarters for the Florida State Theater Company. This was a historic music venue that later got a little refreshing touch through the innovative ideas coming from a group of four local partners, including BLNK CNVS promoter Eric Fuller. That same promoter is also launching the Decca Live and according to another post – this one from Billboard – the American dance/electronic music legend Kaskade will become its first artist to perform at the venue’s grand opening.
What will the Decca Live venue look like?
The 1,000-capacity Decca Live venue will have three floors spread out, including a second-floor mezzanine level and a rooftop level with its own bar, entrances, and exits. Fuller then stated that the venue could have a rooftop bar accessible through the venue. Fuller also added another option, where the ground floor and mezzanine can be primarily used for concerts, while the rooftop can maintain a “cocktail lounge vibe” where attendees can relax while listening to chill music and talking, amongst others.
Additionally, Fuller also emphasizes that Decca Live will include events that play a wide variety of genres; EDM, rock, country, and so on. A main goal for the promoter in regard to the accessibility of music options at Decca Live is to ensure that “the room is available for all promoters” to host events at the venue regardless of who will perform. The opening of this new, exciting venue is one of the various achievements for Eric Fuller, who is already the largest independent promoter of Miami Music Week through BLNK CNVS. Last year, BLNK CNVS hosted more than 35 events and sold over 40,000 tickets. When Kaskade opens up Decca Live, as well as future acts who will illuminate the venue going forward, there is a very strong chance that the venue will see similar rates of success.

The track will be included on We Are The People (Reimagined) along with ARTBAT’s remix of “We Are The People,” which can be streamed HERE. As Rolling Stone once observed, “Everything about Empire of the Sun is larger than life.” Ask That God continues that tradition, taking fans on a holistic musical adventure where the surreal reigns supreme. SPIN noted, “Ask That God’s production is tight and its message optimistic, with the aim of universal connectivity.” Billboard said, “Empire of the Sun shines with Ask That God.” GRAMMY.com declared, “Ask That God offers a chance to reflect on the blend of reality and imagination, while also evoking the radiant energy of their past songs.”
Praising the album as “colorful and maximalist music,” AP suggested, “Start with the shimmery ‘Cherry Blossom.’” Consequence of Sound noted, “The disco-tinged ‘Music on the Radio’… is a thumping, bass-heavy psychedelic jam, with Steele utilizing his cherubic falsetto and the duo offering a hypnotic groove.” Stereogum said, “[‘Changes’] taps directly back into that sleek synth-powered festival-pop vibe the duo made its name on.”

Brazilian techno talent Acid Asian, also known as Fábio Seiki, returns to collaborate with Charlotte de Witte, this time showcasing his much-anticipated Deep Soul EP on her renowned KNTXT label. This dynamic collection of tracks showcases his unique fusion of hard techno, acid, rap/trap, and psytrance, reflecting his diverse musical background and innovative approach. “The title track is one of my favourites because it represents me 100%. Focusing on the acid line with this mantra vocal, I wanted to express something more deep to this track. ‘Space Colors’ is a track with which I wanted to express this new hard techno era using the hardstyle’s kick but keeping my style. ‘Ain’t Nobody Like Us’ is my background from rap/trap and ‘Humans’ is my psytrance background, it’s an off-beat track.”

Charlotte de Witte, who has supported Acid Asian since 2021, praised the release: “Acid Asian is back! From his first release with us in 2022, it’s been such a pleasure to see him grow and gain respect in the techno scene. We’ve played many shows together and he’s one of the most talented, most instinctive producers out there. Playing Space Colors as the closing track at the main stage of Tomorrowland Brazil where Fábio was dancing in the crowd, was a very wholesome moment. These four tracks are absolute bombs and also show the variety he has to offer as a producer. I’m very excited about this release and I hope you are too!”
Since starting the Acid Asian project during the pandemic in 2020, Fábio has rapidly risen in the techno world, becoming the first Brazilian artist to release on Charlotte’s sub-label RPM. With standout performances at Tomorrowland Brasil, DGTL São Paulo, and international gigs across Japan, India, and Europe, Acid Asian continues to leave an indelible mark on the global electronic scene.
The Deep Soul EP is another testament to his talent and relentless creativity, offering a rich and electrifying experience that is sure to captivate techno fans worldwide.

Simon Shackleton pushes the boundaries with his new multimedia live show, ‘The Shadowmaker’. The first show of its kind from an electronic music producer, this ‘living documentary’ blends live performance of his new album with film and personal storytelling into an exploration of human resilience, vulnerability, and liberation. A raw and unflinching portrayal of self-discovery, ‘The Shadowmaker’ traces Shackleton’s turbulent journey to finding his emotional voice through music. Premiering at Denver’s historic Holiday Theatre on February 8, 2025, this brave and deeply personal show illuminates the inner turmoil that often shadows our lives.
“Tracing my own complex, and often troubled, journey to bring this music into the light, ‘The Shadowmaker’ is by far my most personal work to date and also the most empowering,” said Shackleton. “It’s about shining a light on the darker moments, embracing vulnerability, and finding strength through creativity. My hope is that it resonates with anyone who has ever struggled to find their own voice.”
Created by the award-winning British producer and his filmmaker wife Chele Gutek, this unique show weaves storytelling, cinematic visuals, soundscapes and documentary footage through the live performance of songs from Shackleton’s upcoming ‘The Shadowmaker’ album. Renowned for igniting dancefloors and festivals worldwide with his epic DJ sets as Elite Force or under his own name, this time out Shackleton showcases his talents as a vocalist and keyboardist, accompanied by world-class drummer and former Lunatic Calm bandmate Jez Noble. Their live musicianship amplifies the show’s cinematic intensity, as Shackleton brings echoes of Pink Floyd, Massive Attack, David Bowie and Thom Yorke to his stunning new compositions of introspective electronica. The evening concludes with a post-show reception soundtracked by an exclusive ‘Shadowmaker Reconstructed Mix’ – a bold reimagining of the album tracks in a more club-friendly vein.
While Shackleton’s emotive music is the heartbeat of the show, slivers of Gutek’s filmmaking add depth and soul. Using archival footage and intimate interviews, she chronicles Shackleton’s struggle to balance artistic ambition with life challenges, expectation and self-doubt. “Simon and I have been wanting to collaborate for some time, and The Shadowmaker is the perfect medium to merge our storytelling methods,” said Gutek. “Each of Simon’s tracks is rich with emotional depth and pairing them with his personal story magnifies the impact even further. While anchored to Simon’s experiences, this is a universal story of learning to navigate the emotional and psychological terrain that we’re often too afraid to share. Through this journey, we hope to inspire others to confront and embrace their own.”
Delivering its powerful narrative to a global audience, Gutek’s full-length documentary will be submitted to film festivals after The Shadowmaker premiere in Denver, Colorado. Shackleton chose to debut the show in Denver after relocating to the area last year. He credits the wide-open spaces of Colorado for giving him the clarity to realign his creative vision.
With a robust singles release schedule well underway, ‘The Shadowmaker’ album is set to drop on February 7. “With this album and show, I wanted to create something that not only pushes me creatively but also invites the audience into a deeply personal and immersive experience,” said Shackleton. “At a time when human connection is being severed by smartphones, The Shadowmaker invites us to connect through shared emotions, find beauty in our struggles, and ultimately celebrate the power of transformation.”
Tickets for the world premiere of The Shadowmaker at Denver’s Holiday Theater are on sale now, starting at just $50 plus booking fee. A historical landmark originally built in 1914, the beautifully renovated 400-seat theatre, run by the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver, is the perfect setting for this unique experience.

With his stunning new Transcendence EP including two very distinct but equally strong sounds—one track is to dance to, the other one to listen to— techno tastemaker Enrico Sangiuliano returns to his prominent NINETOZERO label. Tickets for a unique SOLO event in Milan on Saturday 21st December will help to promote the release.
For the Italian underground hero, this new book ends an amazing year. Just a few months following his Interconnection EP and a packed run of headline events, it signals yet another subtle change in his always difficult-to-categorize sound. The EP is a joint effort with psychedelic trance master GMS, which has been making waves since the 1990s. The pair that won awards has dropped several essential albums and EPs and had their music featured in a trilogy of Tony Scott films.
A sleek and futuristic soundscape with strong drumming that transports you up among the stars, superb opener “Transcendence” is Smart spoken lines give this most escapist music a theatrical feel; the smeared pads create a cosmic atmosphere; the luscious arps layer in lots of trance-tinged emotional impact. “The Inner World” then is a tense two-minute synthscape with sensible spoken phrases inspired on inner power. This is a stirring work of emotive electronic majesty.
Another powerful declaration from Enrico Sangiuliano’s forward-looking creative imagination is the Transcendence EP.

Someone collected all the Dragon Balls and wished to Shenron for more Zedd in their anime.
Back in September, the superstar DJ was revealed to be a part of the final Dragon Ball anime on which creator Akira Toriyama worked before his death. Fans have been able to replay the opening theme of Dragon Ball DAIMA since the show's October release, but Zedd has now officially dropped "NAKAMA," its ending theme.
Not to be confused with the leading game server technology, "NAKAMA" features the talents of the Japanese-American artist, AI. Together they created a bubbly song that celebrates the journeys of Son Goku, Bulma, Krillin, Vegeta and their friends. Short and sweet like the story of the iconic heroes as children, the dance-pop production is to the show as dessert is to dinner.

The Electronic Dance Music Awards (EDMAs) are returning to Miami with a twist, joining forces with the resurgent International Dance Music Awards (IDMAs) to host an "elite experience for music industry professionals and fans" in 2025.
Touted as the longest-running awards ceremony dedicated to the electronic music industry, the IDMAs have long been a focal point of Miami's Winter Music Conference. They're now returning alongside the beloved summit for the first time in five years after an indefinite hiatus precipitated by the impact of COVID-19.
The EDMAs and IDMAs are set to join forces March 28, 2025 at the Eden Roc Hotel in Miami Beach, according to a press release shared with EDM.com. What exactly the collaboration entails remains to be seen, but electronic music enthusiasts can expect a lavish, star-studded event in celebration of WMC's 35th anniversary.
"The EDMAs have always been about celebrating the fans' choice, and the energy of the electronic music community," said iHeartRadio's Sean "Hollywood" Hamilton, Executive Producer of the EDMAs. "By collaborating with the IDMAs, we are bringing a new dimension to the awards, one that now honors the behind-the-scenes talent that shapes the industry."
Driven by a fan-based voting system, the MTV-style EDMA ceremony dishes out unique trophies as mementos, which resemble DJ decks and feature a functional jog-wheel. Last year's winners included Martin Garrix, David Guetta, HAYLA, Kx5 (deadmau5 and Kaskade), Armin van Buuren and FISHER, among other dance music luminaries. Mark Knight, the influential founder of Toolroom Records, won the EDMA Icon Award.
The return of the Winter Music Conference is scheduled for March 26-28, 2025. You can find out more about the EDMAs here.
