German DJ superstar Lilly Palmer is set to headline the Penn State Vs. Washington men’s college football game, this Saturday, November 9 at Beaver Stadium.
Following last week’s release of her smash hit remix of Armin van Buuren’s ‘Blah Blah Blah,‘ which has boosted her monthly listeners by 200k and amassed over 100k daily streams, Palmer has been on a career-high this week with no stopping in sight. The Penn State performance is set to mark a significant milestone in the techno/electronic realm, as Palmer will be one of the first DJs out of Europe to bring electronic music to such an expansive all-American sporting event. After clips of Palmer including the Penn State classic, ‘Kernkraft 400,’ in her live sets went viral this summer, she will now have a full-circle moment as she brings the game chant back to its home stadium.
Seeing Lilly ignite the chants of over 100,000 people at one of the biggest venues in the world is sure to be a moment to remember, and we look forward to reliving the moment online. You can get more info on the Penn State Vs. Washington game here and on Lilly Palmer, including all her upcoming tour dates, here.

Arguably the biggest DJ in the world right now will be hosting a talk at the Billboard Live Music Summit and Awards. John Summit has taken the world by storm over the past few years. His Chicago House has been running dance music and he was the most supported DJ this year as awarded by 1001Tracklists.
John Summit will sit down with his longtime manager Holt Harmon for a conversation moderated by Billboard’s Katie Bain. Inside the Rise of John Summit will explore how he went from playing small bars and clubs to selling out Madison Square Garden. They’ll share insights into his creative process and how he created his chart-topping hits.
This year’s Billboard Live Music Summit and Awards will also feature the Festival of the Future panel where top executives will discuss how sound, video, and immersive media innovations are transforming the festival experience. Billboard Live Music Summit 2024 returns on November 14 in Los Angeles. Click here for more information, the programming schedule, and to buy tickets.
John released a massive album this year called Comfort In Chaos. It featured a mix of Tech House, Melodic House, Drum and Bass, and Downtempo. The album had legendary collaborators including Kaskade, Sub Focus, Julia Church, Hayla, and Of The Trees. It had numerous hits from ‘Shiver’ to ‘Where You Are’ to personal favorite ‘Stay With Me.’

Luck is when preparation meets opportunity. For HAYLA, the window to strike revealed itself at a peculiar moment.
The building blocks of HAYLA's breakout came at a time of great difficulty for most. The UK was ebbing in and out of lockdowns during the COVID-19 pandemic. During one government-sanctioned ease-up in June 2020, HAYLA reunited with writing partners Will Clarke, Eddie Jenkins and EDM.com Class of 2024 star Camden Cox.
The situation wasn’t fortuitous but it emboldened HAYLA to pen something everyone could resonate with: a song about escapism.
"It was quite an emotional time for everybody," HAYLA tells EDM.com while discussing the release of her debut studio album, DUSK. “The message we conveyed, I hope loads of people felt they could connect with. We also felt very strongly about how we were all held up. We didn’t have anywhere else we could go.”
View the original article to see embedded media.
HAYLA etched her name in history by lending her powerful vocals and songwriting skills to Kx5’s debut single, “Escape.” It’s not often someone is on the ground floor of something new. Something big. HAYLA and her co-writers presented the song to deadmau5 and Kaskade as the two pioneering producers prepared for a mysterious joint venture.
“Kx5—the actual project—was not in the world yet. It was a brand-new collaboration between Kaskade and deadmau5,” HAYLA says. “It was absolutely amazing to be part of that project. Considering the time we were going through, it’s incredible how many people it’s resonated with. We all needed to escape a bit during lockdown.”
“The version you hear now, the music they added turned it into a masterpiece,” she adds. “I absolutely love what they did with the vocals. To send the vocal over and receive a track back like that was absolutely incredible.”
“Escape” put HAYLA on a collision course with a song of even broader impact. John Summit had recently put his artistic touch on an official “Escape” remix. The through-line from Kx5 to Summit spurred HAYLA and her co-writers to approach him with a song called “Where You Are."
“When ‘Escape’ happened, John did the remix,” HAYLA explains. “The same team pretty much got together again and wrote the top line for ‘Where You Are.’ We said, ‘It’s quite interesting. John is doing really well with the remix and people seemed to really like what we did there, so maybe he would like it.’ We sent it across.”
“Where You Are” exploded as arguably the biggest song of 2023, even eclipsing the broad reach of “Escape” the year prior.
“It’s genuinely been one of the quickest turnarounds of a track I’ve ever had,” HAYLA says.
HAYLA's climb was a joint effort, an axiom that rings true for anyone who's succeeded. No matter how prominent someone seems, there's always a foundation of support behind them. HAYLA and her co-writers, Kx5 and Summit, each contributed crucial pieces to their acclaimed songs.
But now that HAYLA is here, she's firmly planting her feet and paying it forward.
“I’ve found so much comfort over the years with writing as a form of therapy, as a diary and a license to experiment and go for it," HAYLA says. "I feel like writing this, I hope it inspires people to feel like if I can do it, why not maybe the person listening to it as well?"
Her career is in full bloom after releasing DUSK and new collaborations with MEDUZA and Kygo. But if all ended after the one-two punch of “Escape” and “Where You Are,” HAYLA could hang her hat on leaving a permanent imprint on music fans.
One of music’s great gifts is how it tethers to experiences. Music and memories weave together so profoundly they meld at the seams. Try as you might, sometimes it's impossible to separate song from thought. “Escape” and “Where You Are” were electronic anthems for 2022 and 2023, songs with enduring popularity. Their overwhelming impacts mean that HAYLA’s voice is immortalized for as long as millions of memories endure.
“From being a music lover myself, I have tracks that are integral to my life and pinnacle times in my life. To hear that people my vocals from other tracks and it’s become part of their moments that they’ll remember forever and cherish, it’s really nice to hear,” HAYLA says. “Honestly, I don’t know if I’ve really sat back and thought of that, but it’s been amazing. It means a lot.”
Fortunately, there is no need to ponder what-ifs or cling only to old memories. There are countless new ones to make. HAYLA and her intoxicating vocals take center stage for her debut headlining show at Los Angeles’ Roxy Theatre on Dec. 4th. In the meantime, watch the full video interview below and find her new album on streaming platforms here.

During Art Week, guests of the exhibit can expect to kick back on the Art of Hip Hop’s shared patio space with Museum of Graffiti, where there will be live music, limited edition drops, complimentary F&B, interactive art demonstrations, and more.
The show features more than 60 works across multiple mediums, including photography archives, mixed media collages, paintings, textiles, fashion, street art, and contemporary fine art. These pieces present a visual timeline of Adams’ artistic journey, spanning themes such as pop culture, race, gender relations, and community.
The exhibition also includes a wall installation of more than 50 iconic album covers that Adams created for major Hip Hop artists such as Run DMC, Beastie Boys, LL Cool J, Public Enemy, The Notorious B.I.G., DMX, and Jay-Z.  The entire retrospective however doesn’t just highlight the work from Adams’ role as founding Creative Director of Def Jam Recordings but rather takes you on a journey from when the artist started as a young tagger on the streets of New York City in the 1970s to his current studio practice of masterfully created mixed media collages.
“Graffiti and Hip Hop have the power to unite people from diverse backgrounds,” said Adams. “This retrospective is a celebration of how these art forms have shaped global culture.”
Adams’ ability to blend street art with commercial design is evident in his long-standing collaborations with global brands. The exhibition highlights projects with Levi’s, Mattel Creations, Apple, Google, Pabst Blue Ribbon, and now Spotify. Notable pieces include a custom chain-stitch embroidered denim trucker jacket created with Levi’s® Eureka Innovation Lab, paying homage to Adams’ graffiti days of painting on vintage Levi’s® apparel. Another standout is a 5-foot sculpture of the Hot Wheels logo, created in partnership with Mattel Creations, which draws on brand archives from the 1960s and 1970s.
“We are thrilled to bring Cey Adams’ extraordinary career to life in this retrospective at Art of Hip Hop,” said Alan Ket, cofounder and curator of Art of Hip Hop. “His contribution to Hip Hop’s visual language and his cross-disciplinary work in art and design make this exhibition essential viewing for anyone interested in the evolution of contemporary art and culture.”
Public Opening: December 4, 2024, at 12PM with tickets at $25 exclusively available at www.artofhiphop.com

The Cashmere Cat is out of the bag—and onto Lil Uzi Vert's new album.
Lil Uzi Vert has returned with the follow-up to 2020's Eternal Atake LP, and while electronic music fans may not be interested in the rest of the rapper's work, they may have to give the new album a listen since it was produced predominantly by the multi-genre legend Cashmere Cat.
The deeply influential DJ and electronic artist produced 11 of the album's 16 tracks: "We Good," "Meteor Man," "Paars in the Mars," "The Rush," "She Stank," "Chill Bae," "Goddard Song," "PerkySex," "Conceited" and "Space High." His dreamlike, floating keys and bright production fit seamlessly with Lil Uzi Vert's spaced-out vocals.
In addition to Cat, Lil Uzi Vert's latest album features the vocal talents of the Nickelodeon-spawned boy band Big Time Rush as well as production from Brandon Finessin, BryceUnknwn, Lil 88, and WondaGurl, among others.

Now that deadmau5's influential single "Jaded" is old enough to graduate high school, a gift in the form of a four-track remix EP is in order.
Back in 2007, deadmau5, then a budding superstar in the electronic music scene, released "Jaded," a track that would become a fan-favorite in his endless library of hits. Despite the song's popularity, diehard fans relied on old downloads and rips since it was unavailable on most streaming services.
Now, deadmau5 is celebrating 17 years of "Jaded" with an official re-release and remix package. With nearly two decades of experience under his belt since the release of the original, "Re_Jaded" is a 12-minute tribute to the evolution of deadmau5's timeless sound, showcasing the brilliant songwriting and masterful production skills that inspired a generation.
Beautifully pairing with the soul-stirring melodies of the minimal classic, deadmau5 also produced a dreamlike ambient rework of "Jaded."
The final song on the EP is a remix from mau5trap favorite Volaris. Humbly acknowledging that he had big shoes to fill, the iusing producer said that "Jaded" inspired a lot of his listening habits and he made many versions of his remix to make sure the final product did justice.
"'Jaded' was one of the first tunes that got me fully into progressive house," Volaris said in a press release. "It is such an infectious tune, when I got asked to remix it, I was nervous as what can you do to an already huge and iconic record. I’ve made so many versions of this remix as I really wanted to do it justice. Ultimately this isn’t here to compete with the original as nothing ever will but I hope you like my take on this iconic tune."
deadmau5's Jaded EP is out now on his own label, mau5trap. Listen to the full project below and find it on streaming platforms here.

In a new interview, Klas Bergling, the father of the late EDM icon Avicii, revisited his son's legacy and unraveled the complex journey of an artist who left a void far deeper than fame could fill.
Bergling sat down with Geronimo, SiriusXM's VP of Electronic/Dance Music Programming, on Avicii Radio for the intimate interview. The tribute station in May launched as a partnership with the Tim Bergling Foundation, the philanthropic organization founded by Avicii's family following his tragic death by suicide back in 2018.
For Bergling, it seems keeping Avicii's spirit alive is a labor of love, bridging the ache of loss with the power of legacy.
"That's the difficulty also with him being so, you know, famous, you could say, and still so popular because he will always be there as long as I live, and my wife lives at least," he said.
Klas Bergling and his son, Tim, the late DJ and electronic dance music icon Avicii.c/o Klas Bergling
Bergling also discussed Pophouse Entertainment, the Swedish investment firm who in 2022 purchased a majority stake in Avicii's music catalog. Honoring his son through stories that amplify his light and lasting impact, the company's long-term brand strategy includes an Avicii musical.
Responding to Geronimo's question about whether or not the Pophouse deal will "ensure that [Avicii's] memory is around forever," Bergling affirmed.
"Absolutely. That's what we hope and that was the reason for doing it, and of course, very, very strong reason is also that his music and, you know, the catalogs are a guarantee for the Tim Bergling Foundation," he explained. "We have said that we will guarantee the foundation to be running for 50 years, and 50 years is a chosen number because that's the age that Tim could have reached with the normal living standard we have today."
"So it's a big task to do it, and the foundation is growing. We have a very, very nice, good team in Stockholm, and so for me, I feel today quite relaxed to rely on the team to take it further, you know, when I don't have the capacity to be there, so it's important for me to know that also, of course, and my wife."
In other Avicii news, a rare auction of his personal belongings recently raised over $700,000 in support of his family's efforts to advocate for suicide prevention. 267 of his items hit the auction block and all proceeds benefitted the Tim Bergling Foundation in its efforts to provide support for young people experiencing mental health issues.
Meanwhile, Avicii - I’m Tim, an intimate documentary about the life of Avicii, is coming to Netflix. The film, which is narrated by the artist himself, will launch globally on the streaming service on December 31st, 2024. Netflix is also premiering Avicii - My Last Show, which chronicles his final performance.

Circles Revisited by Adam F is a big deal. The original is an undisputed and timeless classic. It is a pivotal moment in UK dance music that represents both our scene and our culture. The rework Adam has created celebrates the deep history of the track and the heavy influence that it has had on modern-day drum and bass, but really, it’s only the tip of the iceberg with what’s incoming.
With a string of reworks, reboots and revisits dropping over the next few months, Adam builds up to the release of Colours Revisited in 2025. A huge moment for drum and bass, and the first time any of the original Colours album will be available for streaming.
This is a special occasion, another hard stamp into the history books of D&B and a time worth celebrating as we see the tracks roll out one by one for all to hear. Over to Adam for more on the project…
Adam! Busy time for you with lots of exciting things happening. How’s it all going?

Working non-stop being creative, which is beautiful. After spending a long time running Breakbeat Kaos with DJ Fresh, taking some time out, going to LA to do lots of film scores and writing – all whilst working as an artist and producer at the same time – I teamed up with Kirsty Hawkshaw from Opus III, who is now my wife! After COVID, Kirsty and I decided to set up a label together. It was a big decision but we went for it. We re-recorded ‘Fine Day’, Kirsty’s classic track, with Shadowchild, which was the first release on the label. Since then, we’ve had a slew of music we’re so happy putting out to the world.
You’re in the midst of releasing a load of re-works too, from ‘Circles’ to ‘Music in My Mind’. What spurred on the project, and why now in particular?
I thought it was a good time for this project. It was a labour of love to say the least. Everyone does 25 years of projects so I thought it would be really special to not only remaster it, but to remake it… without ruining it. Also, it’s not like the 90’s are back but there is a real fusion of influences from everywhere right now. There have always been sections of the scene and different styles of D&B but it seems a lot more of a melting pot at the minute. You’ve got new producers and old producers playing and performing together, working together. In the last four years ‘Circles’ has re-emerged into the circuit because of artists like Pink Patheress, who is now massive. The track has introduced ‘Circles’ to a younger fanbase and introduced me to a load of new fans too. It’s good for the whole scene. Also, we just thought, none of my music has been available for streaming, ever.
Great for the new generation who can now listen to it on Spotify…
Exactly. They can really dive into it. There will be a lot of tunes they haven’t heard but a lot that they have because there have been tons of bootlegs popping up these last few years. It was a labour of love because, for so long I was sitting in front of my laptop thinking about the project. To recreate Colours again with all these tracks… ‘Music in My Mind’, ‘Metropolis’, ‘F Jam’, I had to get all my vintage equipment out. Everyone was like ‘Just use this plug-in!’. But it’s not the same. I wanted to take the whole original, organic process. Get the soundboard out, and get the proper equipment. I took some of the original instruments to get reconditioned and they were like ‘Where have you been keeping this? In your garden? It’s covered in mould!’ It had been sitting in the garage for 15 years. We then spent the next two and a half years making the album. I thought, ahead of it coming out, it would be great to have some reboots. I started thinking about artists who have love for the album, but who also inspire me too, and that’s how we created the list of people to approach.
Amazing. Which artists did you pick? Any names you can share?
Let’s kick off with ‘Brand New Funk’. I did my own reboot which started as a bootleg. For this version, I wanted to incorporate the essence of the original version by including and re-recording the original epic intro. This version is the ‘Brand New Funk Reboot VIP’ and is exclusive to my Bandcamp page. I reworked a new funk section to the track with brass, fender Rhodes, and my classic vocoder sound. Bladerunner did a bootleg originally. I got in touch with him and we talked and he finished it off and absolutely smashed it! Both versions have been killing the dance floor in the past 12 months! Then we approached DJ Marky and Makoto, who I know both love and were influenced by my Colours album. I am an equally massive fan of them too. We all come from different areas of the scene and DJ Marky has done so much for the genre and salute to how he has represented and created his own scene across the pond, Makoto was first suggested by our beloved late friend and family member MC Conrad and actually, that collaboration happened because of MC Conrad! We did our first ever live performance of ‘F-Jam Revisited’ together at the London club E1 in a performance we did together with MC Darrison. Up until the devastating loss of MC Conrad, we were performing ‘F-Jam Revisited’ live at every show I played since the re-record.
Nookie worked on a remix on the original Colours album and it was only natural to approach him because he is a personal favourite of mine, to ask him if he would like to rework a version of ‘Music in my Mind Revisited’ His version is deep! It means so much to me and he delivered on the same day as Conrad’s passing which is something that I will always hold a special space for in my heart. We’re all highly respectful of artists we are influenced by, which matters when sending out stems, it’s a trust thing and it takes discernment when handing over your music. Paul T and Edward Oberon, who I have known since and used to come to my studio in the late 90’s recently did a reboot of my ‘Aromatherapy Revisited’ version. I included some extra atmospheric vocals from my wife Kirsty Hawkshaw. Tim Reaper also reworked a Jungle reboot of ‘Aromatherapy Revisited’. Tim has given it a modern take with a classic Jungle twist. Crissy Criss and myself have collaborated on a dance floor smasher reboot of ‘Metropolis’. Crissy and I have a bond, both as friends and artists and in the respect we share for various genres including hip hop, jungle and drum & bass.
Last but by no means least, Outrage – also known as Nomine – has a historical understanding of our genre and scene  and has a self discipline that I look up to has done a killer ‘JAXX Revisited’ reboot and has been amazing, not just as a co-producer for some of the tracks on the new album but also as a supportive friend and it has been refreshing to say the least to invite Outrage into our creative inner circle. The second album that we’re working towards is Return To Colours which Kirsty and I have making this year both writing and producing together to follow on from Colours Revisited. All of the above are being released on the new label imprint ‘181 Recordings’ set up by myself and Kirsty.
So much going on. Really exciting times, Adam. You’ve said previously how influenced you are by Jazz, why is implementing Jazz into your records and artistry over the years important to you?
You’re right; I have mentioned on occasion how jazz has influenced my music. In the street music scene, we often hear the phrase ‘I’m cooking up some beats.’ Let’s take that to the kitchen (studio). You can have a name for a dish, for example, ‘jerk chicken’ but there is not one defined way to make it. There are so many variations on how to prepare it, and if you’re not just following the crowd, the exact ingredients and spices you choose to add make it your own interpretation or version, affecting how you want it to taste. This can change every time. I believe that when making music at its best, you should just do your thing and be free-flowing.
In the past recordings and throughout the process of writing and recording our next album Return to Colours, we are recording with Julian Joseph. Julian also recorded on my earlier music as he is one of my favourite musicians and a highly celebrated musician, composer, broadcaster, teacher and thinker the world over. He loves music on so many levels and as friends we share this deep connection and respect for music. In the book ‘Music of Initiative’ written by Julian, he shares his insight into the philosophy and practice of jazz and jazz performance. Bold, provocative, thoughtful and deeply inspiring, Julian told me that in ‘Music of Initiative’ he ‘wanted to be both specific and open in his writings about the kind of journey he’s embarked on where jazz – its music, players and philosophy – has opened his eyes, mind and spirituality on music and life.’ That’s the kind of process I recognise, draws me to jazz and helps inspire the musical world I love to build and thrive in. It’s an important ingredient and I love its presence.
Your career has spanned over 30 years, what are the biggest lessons learnt from over that time?
Even the best have gone off track along their artistic, creative and or musical journey career. ‘The Music Business’. It’s both the ‘Music’ and the ‘Business’ – The Music Business. In my personal opinion, the most successful and well-received art has been made from a place of authenticity. We are all influenced; no one can deny that, but we don’t have to follow suit or be the same. The best always have a unique style, of their art form, be it, expression, on sound, playing, composing, arranging, or writing, is instantly recognisable and ultimately influences others. Think about the music that has touched you deeply and who has influenced you as a music listener. If you want a genuine feeling of self-worth with your creations, I believe that’s the only approach to a feeling of reward to yourself that truly leaves a legacy, despite your expectations beyond the moment of creation.
And then there’s the business, right?

Yeah – then there is the ‘business’. With an ever-evolving world of how music is made, shared, and heard, and how any money is earned directly by artists and composers, many feel a complexity and confusion regarding this. How many times have we said and heard others say things like ‘Such and such is amazing; I don’t know why they are known by everyone, and it seems unfair,’ etc? Marketing costs money, and money talks… right? That, in itself, makes the perfect scenario for one to sell all your rights away for the most part, in perpetuity, in return for a chance at having some kind of career that goes beyond making the music that needs exposure. Historically, record companies have taken advantage of this, and for those who know and are in the midst of a creative career or have managed to make it through a career in music, both financially and in payback, will have learned that signing a contract, for the most part, involves a deal far from pretty.
The offering of what seems a large amount of money must be a huge temptation for a lot of artists… I’m not surprised people skip the small print.
It is a huge temptation, but always think twice and seek advice before making a deal. I personally didn’t come from a privileged background; I worked at a market stall and rented a one-bedroom flat from the age of 15 after leaving school early, a decision I made on my own. I busked on the street, hustled to buy my equipment, and made music. I can tell you now that feeling like a slave to a contract, and what others tell you is actually what they want and think is best, over what you think you agreed to sign a contract for, to help give you some financial support and a chance at exposure for your music, is futile for 99% of artists, composers, and musicians. Independence, especially at this current time, is a great place to be. You are not subject to bias or influence; you are only self-directing and in a place of some creative control, decision-making, and output. Be yourself, be honest, be true to your art. Trust your instincts and don’t be scared of what others think. Art and creativity should not be made for an audience; instead, the art form, creativity, and music will find their audience. That is gratitude at its best.

Electronic music master Steve Angello gave a remarkable insight into the present situation of dance music, his creative process, and the future of Swedish House Mafia in a long and open interview with Billboard. Renowned for helping to define the electronic music scene over the past two decades, the Grammy-winning producer offered observations that show an artist always changing yet always anchored in his roots.
The birth of “Hooligans” and the Coachella effect
Inspired to catch a particular vibe, Angello’s most recent tune “Hooligans” came out of the exciting atmosphere of Coachella 2022. “I needed that energy and that old ravy kind of Hoover sound,” he said in the interview, referencing the iconic synthesizer effect that helped define early rave music. Originally designed especially for his festival performance and light production, the tune finally developed into a release bridging the vintage rave aspects with modern production methods.

One of the most interesting parts of the interview covered Size Records, Angello’s company that since 2003 has been pillar of electronic music. Having more than 250 albums under its belt, the label’s genesis tale captures the difficult terrain budding producers once had to deal with. “I used to send out demos as a kid and nobody would sign our music,” Angello said, pointing out how the large financial outlay needed to make records usually resulted in rejection for unknown musicians.
This encounter informed Size Records’ basic philosophy: developing emerging talent and keeping a real approach to music curating. Angello characterizes the label as a forum for artistic expression, where decisions are made based on artistic quality rather than monetary viability, therefore transcending simple business venture operation. His present method of finding fresh talent is still remarkably democratic; he often searches his Instagram DMs for demos, therefore preserving the grassroots link between new musicians and the company.
The Swedish House Mafia Revelation
The most important revelation in the interview was on the present situation of Swedish House Mafia. Unbelievably, Angello confirmed that the group had finished an entire record that was eventually shelved. “We had an album we scrapped,” he said matter-of-factly, underlining the group’s dedication to quality above mass.
Notwithstanding this setback, Angello presented a picture of ongoing collective creativity and teamwork. Their present process combines remote collaboration with in-person studio sessions whereby members share ideas via Dropbox and keep constant communication. “I see them Monday to Friday every week,” Angello said, therefore allaying any worries about the group’s cohesiveness.
Considering the evolving terrain of electronic music production, Angello provided insightful analysis of how technology has inverted the learning curve for upcoming musicians. Although he praised the “old school” method of discovery by trial and error, he also acknowledged the advantages of easily accessible online materials for would-be producers “I do like the old school of seating there and grinding and trying to figure things out,” he said, noting how new tools offer artists more time to concentrate on creativity.
Steve Angello Coachella 2024 billboard Wellness and Touring: The Untold Story
The talk veered personally as Angello spoke on the difficulties preserving health when traveling widely. Celebrating 13 years of sobriety, he spoke on the need of mental health in the hectic environment of electronic music. His method of touring wellness emphasizes on controlling the psychological pressures of continuous performance and surrounding oneself with encouraging people.
Surprisingly, Angello admitted he hates holidays; his longest break is just five to six days. “I hate vacations… I love working,” he said, giving an insight into the commitment that has maintained his decades-long profession.
The Future of Dancing Music according to Steve Angello
Angello’s view of electronic dance music is still quite favorable looking ahead. He notes the breakdown of boundaries between sub-genres and the spread of dance music events outside of conventional club environments, therefore predicting unheard-of proliferation in the next two years. Pointing to a changing scene in how dance music is consumed, he said, “there’s more events now, less clubs but more big events.”
The interview also revealed Angello’s attitude on working with others, especially in the hip-hop field. Having collaborated with musicians such as 070 Shake and A$AP Rocky, he underlined the natural character of these relationships. “The magic happens in the studio,” he said, outlining how many relationships start as informal chats then develop into artistic alliances.
Examining Success in the interview
Talking on the billion-stream mark reached by “Don’t You Worry Child,” Angello exposed the erratic nature of hit music. Originally greeted with mistrust by labels, the song proved how audience response—rather than industry expectations—often determines a song’s popularity.
Steve Angello is clearly still a major player in electronic music as the conversation neared to finish, juggling solo projects with group projects, commercial success with creative integrity, mainstream appeal with underground legitimacy, and From someone who has helped shape its development over more than two decades, his observations provide a useful viewpoint on the past, present, and future of electronic dance music.
Though some projects remain in the vault, the future seems bright for Angello’s solo work as well as Swedish House Mafia. His relentless dedication to quality and authenticity suggests that the best may yet be to come from this electronic music pioneer as he keeps stretching limits and investigating new sound worlds.

It looks like the much-anticipated Android 16 OS upgrade will arrive much sooner than expected. According to an article from Phandroid, the date that the Android 16 might come out on will be June 3, 2025. With that date, it looks like it will come out earlier than the Pixel 10. The probable date of June 3 for this very exciting OS upgrade unveil contrasts the usual Fall release dates of past Androids and Pixels over the several years. Android Headlines said that the Android 16 will “head to AOSP on the same day that the OTA will start to roll out to Pixel devices”. The very recent releases of the Android 15 and Pixel 9 show that Google is changing up the way (and the time periods) the company is unveiling their products. Google itself even stated how the upcoming year’s releases will get to implement new developer APIs.

Universal Music Group (UMG), alongside ABKCO Music & Records and Concord Music Group, has filed a lawsuit against Believe Music and its subsidiary, TuneCore, claiming large-scale copyright infringement. The lawsuit seeks $500 million in damages and accuses Believe and TuneCore of distributing unauthorized versions of popular songs on streaming platforms, allegedly bypassing copyright protections. Some artists impacted are Kendrick Lamar, Ariana Grande and Lady Gaga. All though, there many other popular artist signed to Universal Music that may be falling pray to this potential piracy.

The lawsuit was filed in the Southern District of New York. It claims the offender, Believe and TuneCore have supported alleged practices involving minor alterations to copyrighted songs to avoid detection. The complaint states that by adjusting tempos and altering artist names enabled distribution of copyrighted tracks behind new versions. Some name changing examples include “Kendrik Laamar” and “Arriana Gramde”.
UMG’s Stance and Industry Implications
UMG contends that Believe’s business practices rely on piracy, alleging they’ve overlooked copyright enforcement to support their distribution model. The plaintiffs further argue that even after acknowledging the absence of rights for certain content, Believe continued distributing tracks on major platforms like Spotify and Apple Music.

This case emphasizes the ongoing fight against digital piracy in the music industry. For example, In 2000, Metallica sued Napster for facilitating unauthorized music sharing, leading to Napster’s shutdown. In 2019, major record labels secured a $1 billion verdict against Cox Communications for not acting against repeat infringers on its network. Similarly, in 2022, Charter Communications settled lawsuits with record labels over claims of failing to disconnect subscribers engaged in piracy. These cases underscore the industry’s ongoing efforts to combat digital piracy and protect intellectual property rights. The outcome may influence future practices in digital music distribution and hopefully strengthen the enforcement of copyright laws in streaming services.
