Building a reputation as a tastemaker with every fiery release, borne's latest track, "as i do," flexes a fearless pursuit to blaze new trails in dubstep.
The Canadian producer, who opened up about his creative direction in a sweeping EDM.com interview last month, recently released his UKF debut, "Control." He's now returned to the iconic imprint, which he said played a pivotal role in his affinity for electronic music while growing up.
"as i do" showcases borne's masterful sound design through an arrangement where haunting vocals build tension and melt into textured soundscapes, enveloping us in his unique. The track's wobbly, hair-raising drops propel us into the cosmos, tethered only by the thread of unwavering bass.
In other borne news, the DJ recently announced a performance with the red-hot DEF collective, who in 2022 was named in EDM.com's list of the year's best industry leaders. The show is scheduled for December 6th at Atlanta's Terminal West.

Like a ghost in the machine learning to haunt again, ROSSY and Pauline Herr captivate in their new collaboration, "HOLY."
Out now via Thrive, "HOLY" finds the pair reuniting to produce an aching bass anthem. There’s a disarming tension here, a push and pull between longing and isolation that makes the song as relentless as it is tender.
Layered over ethereal yet bruising production, Herr's gnawing question, "Do you think of me?" hangs in the void like an unanswered text at 3am. After the track's soaring drop, both producers flex their skills in the break, where arpeggios flicker like notification lights in the dark.
The genius of “HOLY” lies in how ROSSY and Herr capture that uniquely modern emptiness—the paradox of feeling completely alone while surrounded by endless ways to connect.
ROSSY (L) and Pauline Herr (R).Brandon Densley/DNZ Media
These two best friends, however, have leaned on each other throughout their respective careers in electronic music.
"Making music with your best friend and being able to chase your dreams together is a pretty indescribable feeling," ROSSY tells EDM.com. "Pauline and I wrote this song to encompass a lot of emotions. We wanted this song to be healing with a chant of, 'Do you think of me.' It’s not meant in a sad, somber way, but rather in a powerful way."
The new track, she adds, comes with visuals steeped in symbolism and various motifs to convey its emotional core.
"The clown makeup stands for sometimes feeling foolish," ROSSY explains. "The water represents what it feels like to be so consumed with emotion and anger and sadness you feel like you’re drowning, and the horse symbolizes freedom and running so far away and healing."

Featuring brand new stage production titled “The Stack,” ‘Knock2: nolimit TOUR’ will see Knock2 take center stage at acclaimed venues such as Terminal 5 in New York City, Mission Ballroom in Denver, Radius in Chicago, and many more – providing fans with a live experience that reflects the bold spirit of the nolimit era. Knock2’s upcoming nolimit LP represents the latest music evolution for the groundbreaking producer, who spent most of 2024 teaming up with long-time friend and fellow San Diego-native ISOxo for their collaborative project ISOKNOCK. These multi-day ISOKNOCK runs include Bay Area 4EVR, with a lineup featuring Hudson Mohawke, Baauer, Dylan Brady, and more from Wednesday, November 20 – Friday, November 22, 2024 at Bill Graham Auditorium. There will also be the homecoming San Diego 4EVR, which will feature support from Madeon, RL Grime, Peekaboo, Snow Strippers, glaive, Brutalismus 3000, and more, from Saturday December 7 – Sunday, December 8, 2024 at Snapdragon Stadium.

Building on its global success, DGTL made an exciting comeback to India, delivering two epic festival editions in Mumbai and Bengaluru (our experience in 2022). The Mumbai edition took place on November 8th and 9th, followed by the Bengaluru edition on November 9th and 10th. While there were mixed feelings about the line-up at first, its versatility and diversity ultimately won people over. Big names graced the event, from London’s DnB duo Chase & Status to German stars Stephan Bodzin and Parra for Cuva, Swedish DJ & Producer, SPFDJ and some extremely talented Indian artists like Parallel Voices, Heliosphere, Kollission, Bullzeye & many more.
This year, the festival featured three stages: Modular, Generator, and Gain. Right from the entrance, festival-goers were drawn to the Generator by Budweiser Stage, complete with a giant LED screen and lights flashing in every direction. The open-air layout provided ample room to breathe and dance to top acts.
The Gain stage, a smaller open-air space compared to the Generator stage, was adorned with LED poles, offering a more intimate setting where fans could enjoy close interactions with their favorite acts. With its massive warehouse feel, featuring lasers, flashing lights, and a large screen setup, the Modular stage was the festival’s largest and most popular, attracting crowds for the headlining acts.
DGTL DAY 1: Chase & Status, CRi, Ben Klock, SPFDJ & more
Trailblazing DnB legends Chase & Status had the crowd roaring with their smashing hits like “Disconnect“, “Backbone“, and of course the iconic, “Baddadan“. As a special treat for the audience, they dropped “Rumble” by Skrillex, Fred Again.. and Flowdan; the crowd went wild, all the gun fingers went up. Many fans were truly living their best moments during this high-energy set.
We couldn’t miss CRi, an artist known for his ever-evolving talent in crafting beautiful Deep House productions. On the Gain stage, he dropped “I Can Make It“, the song instantly set a beautiful mood, enchanting all the Anjunadeep fans in the crowd.
Two hours of Ben Klock’s pure, authentic techno was more than worth it. Beginning his set at sunset and finishing as darkness fell, a lovely transition. True to his style and far from the mainstream, the set was hypnotic and dark, with surprisingly fewer phones in the air.
With her distinctive energy, style, and attitude, she’s made a name for herself on the underground techno scenes of London and Berlin, yes we’re talking about SPFDJ! The track selection and smooth transitions were impressive, and in the second half, the set truly evolved into a monster. Her aura was elegant, radiating pure energy.
India’s talented DJ and producer, Parallel Voices, delivered a danceable and soothing set, creating a truly euphoric vibe. With releases on labels like Colorize, Immersed, and a recent EP on Anjunadeep, this artist is undoubtedly one to watch.
DGTL India 2022 DGTL DAY 2: Stephan Bodzin, Jimi Jules, Parra For Cuva, Chippy Nonstop & more
After a heavy dose of DnB and Deep House, a new day had dawned, bringing with it the perfect moment to explore the Groovy, Melodic House and Techno side of DGTL.
Classically trained German producer Stephan Bodzin brought his live mastery to the Modular Stage, showcasing his custom setup of synthesizers, gear, and controllers. From dropping his latest collaboration ‘Healing‘ with Massano & Jem Cooke to playing some unreleased IDs, tweaked live, his set was nothing short of mind-blowing. The progressions, the risers, and the basslines— it was a pleasure to witness this live. Bodzin let the music speak volumes.
Having released the timeless track ‘Pushing On‘ with Oliver Dollar almost a decade ago, Jimi Jules was an artist we couldn’t afford to miss. His set was filled with groovy mixes of House, Tech House, and Disco, that had the crowd moving from start to finish. The energy was unmatched, and it was by far one of the freshest sets of the night. His new track ‘Human Rights“, which is part of his upcoming album, is out now. If you’re not onto him yet, go stream it ASAP!
Parra For Cuva is an artist known for creating tracks that offer the perfect balance of relaxation, peace, and danceable grooves. With past performances at Cercle in Mexico, Burning Man, and Anjunadeep, he showcased his talent with a live set that featured lush, evolving soundscapes created on the spot with pads. It was a truly blissful performance and we can’t wait to see him again soon.

Afro House has been taking the world by storm, and Masšh’s set was the perfect chance for us to experience it firsthand. Having recently collaborated with Adam Port from Keinemusik, his performance was an underrated gem. It was a set filled with uplifting energy and a warmth that enveloped the crowd. Without question, it was one of the standout performances of DGTL.
At the Modular stage, Olympe delivered a lovely Melodic House & Techno set, featuring gnarly synths and emotive vocals. With an Afterlife release under her belt and a recent performance at Tomorrowland, we’re excited to see what she has in store for the rest of the year.
After experiencing such a stellar lineup, we weren’t quite done yet. DGTL hosted official afterparties in both cities, featuring performances from some of the festival’s top acts and some local acts as well. In addition to hosting a major event, DGTL is committed to sustainability, working to minimize its carbon footprint at every location. By attending, you’re contributing to a more eco-friendly experience and helping reduce the impact on the planet. Until next time!
Wait! DGTL has just announced a one-day festival in Goa on December 27th at VAMOS! Pre-register now through Zomato.

There's a moment in every rave when the sweat dries and emotions get the best of you. longstoryshort's new EP, IN MY MIND, lives precisely in that transformative instant.
The electronic music virtuoso, one of the genre's greatest shapeshifters, performs a masterful vanishing act in the project, wherein he provides the fury of the rave before navigating the eerie quiet of its afterglow. He says he hopes listeners "connect with these tracks as a soundtrack to their own highs, lows and everything in between."
Translating raw energy with anarchic grace, the EP is a testament to electronic music's duality: the sweating bodies on the dancefloor and the souls that inhabit them. Its music makes aggression and intimacy seem like two sides of the same coin, spearing through the membrane between primal urge and pure feeling.
longstoryshort.c/o NIGHTMODE
The first half comprises ferocious, brass-knuckled beats that demand movement like a puppet master yanking steel strings. longstoryshort snaps them in "IJUSTWANNA," a surefire standout where frenetic bass stabs slither through UKG and dubstep drops like spiders in the brain.
But just when you think you've got him figured out, the EP pirouettes into something different yet eerily familiar. The back half of IN MY MIND strips away the armor to reveal a beating heart underneath, where the ghost in his machine dances with its own silhouette.
longstoryshort's nuanced, textured production shines in "take the fall (don't let it stop you)," a haunting house anthem for the heartbroken hedonist. Then comes another four-on-the-floor masterstroke, "part of me," which feels more like a psychological striptease with gnawing lyrics that explore a numb emptiness: "Suddenly you're looking for a way inside my head / Don't know how to say it, but there's nothing of me left."

Music has the power to move both body and spirit, and HOT SKIN and Megan Kashat’s "You Are God" fittingly captures this dynamic at the crossroads of rhythm and soul.
Inviting listeners to a realm where music and spirituality entwine, the new collaboration is assembled with dynamic Afro house instrumentation at the forefront. "Music, at its core, is a healing force. 'You Are God' is more than just a melodic house/techno track — it’s a spiritual journey," HOT SKIN shares with EDM.com.
The sense of journey is palpable as Kashat's voice delivers lyrics rich with self actualization, words that echo over warm, enveloping pads. Every so often, we come across a DJ that embodies the passionate spirit that drives rave culture. These people don’t just play music when they’re on stage; they get completely lost in the music. That’s exactly what happens every time Zen Selekta performs. She loses herself and transcends into a space beyond the physical world.
Zen Selekta, AKA Nicole Barton, radiates musical energy. She’s a DJ who refuses to sit still when she performs, leaning into the famed “flow state” that creatives chase at every part of the musical process. This demonstration of passion and musicality has generated tons of hype surrounding Zen Selekta, who’s currently on tour with Mersiv and Inzo and has played massive festivals like Electric Forest, and supported legends like Subtronics.
Zen Selekta is your favourite DJ’s favourite DJ. With only 11 tracks available, she has managed to build her reputation around her distinct ability to curate a set that sets the dancefloor on fire. This is the “Selekta” aspect of the project. She also embodies “Zen” which leans into the more spiritual aspect of bass music.
This weekend in Denver, she’s delivering a two-night experience, divided into “Zen” and “Selekta.” We recently sat down with Barton to discuss the duality of the project, entering another state of consciousness when she’s performing, and how to stay healthy amidst a demanding life of constant touring.
Your music, and the way you approach your live sets, is filled with energy and spiritual elements. What does it feel like to completely give in to the music while you’re on stage, getting lost in your element?
When I’m on stage, I feel like I’m in my most authentic, connected state. It’s this powerful flow where I’m completely immersed in the music and feel deeply aligned with each sound and beat. There’s this incredible exchange of energy where I’m inspired by the crowd, and in return, I can feel them feeding off that passion. It feels like a shared release, a safe space where we’re free to let go and experience the moment fully.
The environment that accompanies music can be just as important as the music itself. You’re playing two nights at Devner’s Meow Wolf this weekend, which is known for its interactive, psychedelic art exhibit and elaborate stage design. Would you say playing in a place like that impacts the way you approach curating your sets?
Absolutely! Immersive environments like Meow Wolf are a dream because they’re designed to elevate the senses, and being surrounded by all this art and interactive design makes me feel like I can push boundaries even further. I want the music to feel like it’s a soundtrack to the visual world around us. Ultimately, the environment becomes part of the performance itself, inspiring a creative energy that takes the experience to another level.
The Meow Wolf shows have a special theme for each night: Night one is “Zen” and Night two is “Selekta.” Can you tell me about these two sides to the Zen Selekta project, and what fans can expect from each experience?
I’m so excited to bring these two themes to life because “Zen” and “Selekta” really represent the duality within my music and performances. Night one, “Zen,” will highlight the deeper, spiritual influences in my sound. The focus here is on grooves and melodies that feel intentional and entrancing, inviting everyone into a journey that’s both powerful and uplifting. It’s still high-energy and made for the dance floor but with a layered, transcendental feel to it.
Night two, “Selekta,” is about turning up the energy and embodying what it truly means to be a Selekta. This night is packed with carefully curated selections, mash-ups, and transitions. It’s a journey through high-energy tracks that showcase the untamed, electric side of my music. Together, these two nights showcase the full spectrum of what I’m trying to express as an artist. I want fans to experience both sides of my vision and leave with a sense of balance from the whole experience.
You’re always repping your home city of Atlanta, Georgia, especially on your recent track, “ATL HOE” which includes the classic chant the city is known to yell at every event. What sets Atlanta apart in terms of the city’s music culture?
Atlanta’s music culture is just unmatched. It has this magnetic vibe that you can’t find anywhere else. The city’s known for its hard beats and bold sound, which all resonate in my music and live sets. There’s this spirit in the crowd, at every show, that feels like family — you know they’re there to support you and celebrate with you. That’s why including the “ATL HOE” chant in my track felt essential; it’s my way of bringing that Atlanta energy with me everywhere I go.
You’re currently touring with Merisv and Inzo for the “Digital Night Drive” tour — how do you approach a set when you’re opening for heavier bass artists like Mersiv and Inzo, as opposed to a headline Zen Selekta show?
I approach my set the same way I would for my own headline shows. My sets are an extension of who I am as an artist, and I stay true to my vision. The only difference is on a support slot, I make sure my set gradually builds up the energy. I’ll still bring the same beats that define Zen Selekta — but I might lean into different elements to create an atmosphere that primes the crowd for what’s coming next.
With so much time spent on the road, what are some things you do to stay grounded while you live such a demanding and exciting life?
I focus on eating balanced meals, sticking to my mindfulness practices, and prioritizing exercise which helps clear my head and keep me physically active despite the long hours spent travelling and sitting at my desk. I also make sure to stay connected with my friends and family. The energy I get from the crowd and the music is always my anchor when life on the road starts to feel overwhelming.
As 2024 starts winding down, I want to know: What’s your favourite memory from the 2024 festival season? Maybe a set that really stood out, or a connection you made with another artist or fan, or even some shenanigans on the tour bus?
Looking back at the 2024 festival season, a major highlight for me was my performance at
Electric Forest. The space itself was so immersive, and it felt like everything came together perfectly — the music, the crowd, and the environment. It was a moment of connection, not just with the audience but also with myself. I realized how far I had come in this journey.
What are some things fans can look forward to in 2025 for the Zen Selekta project?
In 2025, fans can expect some exciting things for the Zen Selekta project, starting with a brand-new EP on the way, locked in with a dream label of mine. This is a huge step forward for me, and the music is going to reflect that evolution. I’m planning to dive even deeper into my sound, continuing to evolve and push myself forward.
I’m also looking forward to taking the live experience to the next level. The energy and connection I’ve felt from fans at shows this year have been incredible, and in 2025, I’m focused on creating even more unforgettable sets — whether that’s with unique stage designs, new visual elements, or collaborations with other artists. There will be more opportunities to connect with me, too. I’ve been wanting to expand on my Zen & Friends gatherings and create spaces for connection, reflection, and growth.
All in all, 2025 is shaping up to be a year of growth, new sounds, and more ways to experience Zen Selekta live. I can’t wait to share it all with everyone.

YouTube is tapping into generative AI and prompt engineering to allow creators to effortlessly remix songs for their Shorts, The Verge reports.
While remixing typically requires a great deal of production finesse, the platform's new AI feature, currently in beta, lets creators easily "restyle" licensed music into punchy 30-second clips. Testers chosen to participate can reportedly take their pick from a library of eligible tracks before forming a prompt, which reworks various elements of the music.
"These restyled soundtracks will have clear attribution to the original song through the Short itself and the Shorts audio pivot page, and will also clearly indicate that the track was restyled with AI," according to YouTube.
The new feature is an expansion of YouTube’s AI-powered "Dream Track" experiment, which empowers creators to legally utilize the AI-generated voices of artists such as Charli XCX, Demi Lovato, John Legend and more. The specific songs available to beta testers have not yet been made clear, nor have the record labels with whom YouTube is partnering.
However, YouTube is engaging in discussions with the three major record labels, Universal Music Group, Sony Music Group and Warner Music Group, to pay "lump sums of cash" in exchange for the rights to train their AI models on the companies' music, according to a report by the Financial Times.

YouTube has not yet revealed plans to publicly roll out the new generative AI feature at the time of this writing.

As part of its expanded offerings, this year's festivities will include the addition of a second stage. Dubbed the Terminal and the Hangar stages, each space will offer distinct vantage points within the air museum, allowing festival-goers to experience both indoor and outdoor soundscapes.
Additionally, event coordinators have partnered with the Palm Springs Surf Club to extend their programming into the daytime before the main festivities. Known as Day Drift, the locale will include resort-style amenities, sounds curated by Midnight Lovers, and a record shop by Chapter One.
The sounds reverberating from each venue that make up the Desert Air experience will be an eclectic mix of avant-garde tastemakers and genre-bending DJs. A quick scan of its diverse lineup reveals legendary performers, up-and-coming divas, heavy house hitters, techno mavens, and international pop stars.

As Trump gears up for another term, new reports suggest he’s poised to reverse his previous ban on TikTok, signaling a pivot that could keep the platform thriving in the U.S.
A Shift in Strategy for TikTok
Reports from the Washington Post, New York Times, and Associated Press indicate that President-elect Donald Trump is expected to reverse his initial stance on TikTok, a position he aggressively held during his first term. Back in 2020, Trump’s executive order aimed at banning the app was blocked by a federal court, which ruled that his use of emergency powers overstepped legal boundaries. Now, insiders familiar with his views hint that Trump is likely to embrace the platform rather than restrict it, especially considering his recent popularity on TikTok, where he’s gained over 14 million followers. During his campaign, he even encouraged voters who support the app to back him, pledging to “save TikTok” from potential restrictions.
Opposition to the New Legislation
In a surprising twist, Trump has publicly opposed the Protecting Americans From Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act, signed by outgoing President Joe Biden. This law, aimed at forcing ByteDance, TikTok’s parent company, to sell its U.S. operations, sets a deadline of January 19—just a day before Trump’s inauguration. Trump has voiced strong opinions against enforcing this law, expressing concerns about the effects of a TikTok sale on both free speech and market competition. In a CNBC interview, he criticized the potential ban, stating, “Without TikTok, you can make Facebook bigger, and I consider Facebook to be an enemy of the people.”
ByteDance’s Hopes and Trump’s Options
For ByteDance, Trump’s return could be a lifeline. According to sources cited by the Washington Post, the company had anticipated that Trump’s victory might lead to a reconsideration of the current restrictions. ByteDance proposed “Project Texas,” a plan to work with the U.S. government on data oversight, which the Biden administration rejected. However, under Trump’s administration, such a compromise may now gain traction. Trump could also avoid enforcing the app store restrictions in the interim or work with Congress to repeal any impending ban. However, as one legal expert told Politico, “Trump is incredibly fickle,” leaving the door open to various outcomes.
Conway’s Take: TikTok and Personal Choice
Longtime Trump ally Kellyanne Conway notes that Trump’s stance aligns with his broader philosophy against government overreach and bans, which she attributes primarily to Democrats. According to Conway, Trump values TikTok’s broad reach and sees it as a tool for engaging millions of Americans, especially younger users. She stated that Trump recognized early on that the “party of bans” had traditionally leaned Democratic, with restrictions on everything from gas-powered cars to menthol cigarettes, adding that Trump’s defense of TikTok reinforces his position on personal choice.
As Trump prepares to take office, TikTok’s future in the U.S. seems brighter, potentially reversing the app’s earlier turmoil and establishing it as a mainstay for American social media users.

With their latest event, Wynn Nightlife is out to prove that even in the velvet-lined corridors of Las Vegas, there's room for a little Southern comfort.
The company, a vanguard of Vegas' storied nightlife sector, has announced Desert Saddle, its first-ever hybrid dance-country event. The two-day takeover of XS Nightclub is scheduled for December 6-7, aligning with the National Finals Rodeo, the premier championship event for professional rodeo in the US.
Country-influenced EDM, colloquially dubbed "YeeDM," has experienced a surge in popularity in 2024. Insomniac Events launched a "rave saloon" experience, YeeDC, on the grounds of EDC Las Vegas, one of the world's largest EDM festivals. Over at SoCal's Stagecoach Festival, Diplo curated a takeover of the "HonkyTonk Dance Hall" stage and featured Marshmello and The Chainsmokers, among other prominent DJs.
In partnership with Paris Texas, Wynn Nightlife is now poised to strategically tap into this emerging market demand.
"Wynn Nightlife is committed to challenging the status quo by constantly embracing innovation and seeking new opportunities that lead the market demand," Ryan Jones, Vice President of Wynn Nightlife, said in a press release. "We’re excited to partner with Paris Texas and build on the growing popularity of the country music genre and success of country music festivals, as we see significant potential and long-term success in this market."
Headliners of the inaugural Desert Saddle event include Kane Brown, Marshmello, Brandi Cyrus, Dustin Lynch and VAVO. Cyrus, the eldest daughter of country music icon Billy Ray Cyrus, has long-championed the dance music community.
"I think my favorite thing about it is just how much of a family it feels like," Cyrus told EDM.com in a May interview. "The dance music community really is so loving and so welcoming and loves to discover new artists and new music. I think that's such a cool thing that you don't see all the time."
You can purchase passes to Desert Saddle and find more information on Wynn Nightlife's website.

In 2007, global electronic music icon deadmau5 released a very limited run of the song ‘Jaded.’ Now, 17 years later, mau5trap is pleased to offer ‘Jaded’ in a four track ep package for the first time ever on digital and streaming. Today’s mau5trap ‘Jaded’ package features the re-release of the original song, an ambient mix, a special ‘Re_Jaded’ mix and a remix from rising producer Volaris. Following the Layton Giordani remix of ‘Strobe,’ Jauz’ ‘Ghosts ‘n’ Stuff,‘ John Summit’s ‘I Remember,‘ and Rebuke’s ‘Not Exactly,‘ another classic from deadmau5’ illustrious repertoire has received the remix treatment from today’s top producer talents with a new twist. Listen here.
Volaris burst onto the electronic music scene in 2022 with the Armada-backed debut, “Through The Night,” immediately earning the nod from industry heavyweight John Summit. The track not only marked Volaris as the inaugural artist on Summit’s Off The Grid Records but also set the stage for a relentless pursuit of sonic innovation. Anonymous no more, Volaris’ presence became undeniable when John Summit featured the then-ID “Slow Motion” during a live set in Ushuaïa Ibiza. The subsequent deluge of demands for its release underscored the magnetic pull of Volaris’ sound.
The name “Volaris,” meaning “you will fly,” encapsulates Nathan’s mission to break free from constraints. Volaris extends beyond the artist; it’s a celebration of life’s highs and lows. His label HORIZN, an embodiment of Nathan’s philosophy, urges individuals to seize each day with a poignant reminder that every day is a gift. His music, an anthem of liberation and an embrace of life’s uncertainties, resonates far beyond sound systems inviting all who listen to defy limits, rise above, and make each day their own.
