[EDM.com] Instagram Now Lets You Instantly Share EDM Tracks in DMs

Instagram has rolled out a new feature allowing users to share 30-second music previews directly in private chats, making it easier than ever to send EDM tracks to friends.
Users can access the feature through a new music sticker in the chat window. After tapping the Messages icon, opening a conversation and selecting the sticker button, you can now choose "Music" and browse Instagram’s audio library for tracks.
Once a song is selected, a preview featuring a spinning vinyl animation populates in the chat. After sending, the recipient can play or pause the audio clip.

With social media continuing to play a key role in music discovery, this update offers a new way for electronic dance music fans to share tracks instantly without leaving the app or their DMs therein. It's now live globally on iOS and Android.
The feature expands upon Instagram’s growing list of music-sharing tools and arrives in the wake of the social media giant's October partnership with Spotify, which allowed users to save songs directly to their Spotify library. Instagram also introduced multi-track audio for Reels back in July.

SoundCloud has rolled out a new feature, "Fan Recognition," designed to help artists identify and highlight their most dedicated supporters.
The feature allows musicians to publicly recognize their top fans directly on their SoundCloud track pages, celebrating the diehards who have supported them from day one and keep coming back for more.
With "Fan Recognition," artists can showcase two key groups of supporters: First Fans and Top Fans. First Fans are those who listened to and liked a track early on—before anyone else—and they will be displayed in order of plays accumulated during the first week of the song's release. Top Fans are the listeners who continue to engage with the music time and again, consistently playing it the most.

On the flip side, for fans, the new feature ensures that their support is recognized and memorialized on the track pages of their top artists. It has the feel of a badge of honor for those who have helped fuel the careers of their favorite emerging talent.
By prominently spotlighting fans, SoundCloud is emphasizing the role of superfans in an artist's growth. The streaming service highlighted data from Luminate's 2024 Year-End Music Report, which claims that 90% of superfans engage with artists through live performances while 81% amplify their favorite artists "by spreading the word."

David Guetta and Sia, the artists behind the generational dance anthem "Titanium," are teaming up once again for a new track, "Beautiful People."
The iconic DJ and producer took to social media on Monday to share the news, expressing his deep creative connection with Sia and confirming more collaborations with the Australian pop superstar in the future.
"This is so crazy, Sia and myself back to working together," Guetta said. "There’s always been a special connection since 'Titanium' between us, and I’m so happy we’re working again... We made a few songs already and I’m about to put out the first one, it's called 'Beautiful People.'"
The track, which had previously leaked online years ago, has been highly anticipated by fans. Guetta said he and Sia have now finally "nailed it."
"I know a lot of you have heard of it, and heard it on YouTube, some leaks, and asking me to release it, the French DJ said. "And it’s finally happening."

The elevator doors slide open to reveal an office bathed in synthetic pastels, where time itself seems to glitch. Welcome to Revelation Technologies, the fictional corporate twilight zone where The Knocks and Dragonette have set the stage for their latest single, "The Hero."
The Knocks' history with Dragonette runs deep—their 2019 single "Slow Song" became a slow-burning anthem, and now, "The Hero" emerges as its introspective successor. An immediate follow-up to last month's "Revelation," the track is a transmission from a parallel dimension where neon-lit synths and aching nostalgia swirl into a dancefloor daydream.
The Knocks and Dragonette have mastered the art of turning heartache into something cinematic, and the new single is their latest masterstroke.
"This song is about the banality of how a relationship can turn cold," Dragonette explains. "When it’s not a dramatic explosion of betrayal or strong emotions that crash together. [EDMTunes] The Official 2025 Burning Man Temple Is Revealed

Spanish architect Miguel Arraiz revealed his “Temple of the Deep” design. It will be the official temple for Burning Man 2025, making its return to Black Rock City for this year’s art festival. Moreover, the structure draws inspiration from Nevada desert’s rock formations. It showcases similarities with a giant black rock, taking its shape from erosion over time. Arraiz used the Japanese art of kintsugi to inspire the design. Kintsugi involves mending broken objects with gold, showcasing the beauty in flaws. The temple features a darkened and fractured outside that appears to be molded together by lightbeams that shine through the cracks. Lastly, it has an ethereal glow on the design.
The architect’s vision encompasses a cave-like interior that historically represents a place for gathering and meditation for humanity. Underneath the rough and natural facade, the design showcases Baroque geometries when it comes to movement. In effect, it includes sightlines, and spatial dynamics. Carefully, the crafted environment embodies a sanctuary for some of Burning Man’s pilars, such as reflection, art, and healing
The Temple of the Deep
The temple resembles a cave, since this was always an ancient setting where people have gathered to communicate and document life’s mysteries. Furthermore, the structure possesses an autobiographical quality to the author. The structure symbolizes a fragmented, broken heart, with its visible scars remaining intact. The cracks engulfed in light serve as symbols of overcoming adversity. Lastly, it tells a visual story of loss and renewal. The design repeats the festival’s tradition of radical acceptance, as it provides a space for emotional release and change.
The Temple of the Deep has seven entrances, each symbolizing a stage of grief. This will lead visitors along pathways that all connect at a central area. The layout facilitates personal reflection, while also mimicking the arrangement of Black Rock City itself. This fosters a sense of community between attendees, inspiring them to connect with one another about shared experiences and loss.
Purpose
Similar to past Burning Man Temples, the Temple of the Deep will act as a communal haven, gifting attendees with a sacred space to reflect on their emotions, highlighting their journeys. The temple acknowledges the importance of finding meaning in shared experiences without pressure. According to Arraiz, this serene environment boosts emotional healing, offering festival-goers a space to pause and delve deeper into their consciousness.
The Spanish architect extended an invitation to participants to help out the Temple’s narrative by writing letters filled with messages of grief, love, or gratitude. These personal messages will be tastefully incorporated into the very fabric of the Temple. Even during the Temple’s ceremonial burning, these letters will remain a secret, as they are ceremonially burnt. Nevertheless, the ceremony represents transformation, while honoring the release and transformation of private stories and sentiments into spiritual catharsis.

[UKF] We Need To Talk About Douvelle19

Douvelle19 has become quite the wizard at whipping up a lovesick dance-floor banger or two. That’s the current theme for the Welsh producer. That’s his flavour, his vibe. And although no two tracks of his are ever the same, they almost always include lyrics of yearning, steamy bass-lines and melting melodies that will make you want to fall in love over and over and over again.

From flipping grime accepellas to futuristic fan favourites like ‘Skin to Skin’ and ‘Swimming’, Douvelle19 radiates authenticity, dabbling in whatever sound, vibe or genre that takes his fancy. Music has been a huge part of both his life and his career, and with his latest release ‘Find a Way’ flooding dancefloors across the globe, it was time to dig deeper to find out more about his incredible story.
Let’s talk about your new single ‘Find a Way’ – it’s a lovely concoction of vibes! Talk to me about its inception.
It was created during one of the sessions I had after lockdown. I had just started collaborating properly with people. Before this, I was mainly using the same model as the grime freestyles that I made. I would find acapellas and then work with them. It seemed like a strong muscle that I had – and it made for really interesting creations – but my songwriting muscle wasn’t getting flexed. So, I was like, let me get in a room and do it in person. There is something special about doing it that way. ‘Find a Way’ came about in one of those initial sessions. I was in the studio with the vocalist on the track called Leilah and my friend Harry who’s also an amazing writer. I had the hook idea and showed the guys and then we had like a writing trifecta, I was producing, making arrangements, Harry and Leilah were writing. It was the first time when I thought ‘This is an incredible writing experience, I’m so happy to be in this room!’. I’ve had a lot of writing experiences but I’m quite solitary really, I collaborate a lot more now but back then, getting into a room with another artist was quite nerve wracking. I was in a band for 6 years and the writing always looked the same, the room always looked the same, so breaking that formula and getting into a session post-lockdown felt quite new to me. This one was different. It was such an inspiring session.
How does it affect your creativity when a session doesn’t have such an inspiring feel to it?
I haven’t had many of those sessions, because usually the due diligence is done beforehand going into that room, but I have had sessions where maybe you’re not on the same level creatively. Maybe you want to talk about different things on a song or you have different visions for what you want the track to be. When that happens, I just can’t do it. I can’t do what I need to do in that environment. I think some people, to my knowledge, go into a session and it’s very transactional. Like, ok, you’re the singer, you sing this, here is the reference track. Then they write some stuff. The producer doesn’t know what they want so they trust the vocalist entirely to give the track what it needs, and that’s it. That’s so far away from what I do. I sit down with people and talk with them for hours. I want to see if I even like them. I don’t want to work on a song with someone who isn’t very nice or doesn’t have the same sort of morals as me, someone who has warped views. It’s part of my creative process. I want to feel really behind what we’re doing and really care about the track and the people I’m working with. If we have to have another session because we spent too long talking, then great. I’d rather we didn’t do anything than to leave the room feeling like I still don’t know the person I’m working with. There’s a process in which I like to make it an experience.
And then I guess the hope is that that chemistry will then translate into the music, right?
That’s the secret behind the curtains. We’re either going to benefit as people, learning about each other, or our music is going to benefit from it because we’re both doing something we really like. It doesn’t just audibly sound better, it doesn’t just mean that you write a more cohesive song, it really helps with communicating with each other. You’re able to then give direction, be more honest with them, talk to them like a friend, ask them to try different things. Extrapolate and communicate in a safe environment because you’ve built a rapport together, that makes for way better music. I want ten takes. I want breathy, emotional, belting it out. If I can weave in and out of those emotions, that’s what gives the track texture and emotion, as opposed to using the only take you’ve got because you couldn’t ask them to redo it. The rapport just wasn’t there. Being able to talk like that and be honest is one of the main reasons I like building rapport beforehand.

It’s a crazy intimate environment, and that needs to be respected. For myself, and for whoever else is in the room. It’s a special sovereign thing – to me anyway – I want to have those special experiences as opposed to cookie cutter sessions. 
You talk about the track being a ‘marker of your journey between club music and love songs’. It’s definitely a mix of the two. Why do you think dance music is the perfect vehicle for a love song?
Anyone who has been knee-deep in the dance knows it’s a pretty alluring, vulnerable and exciting environment. I think that love song crossover with those environments makes sense to me. It works on both sides, if you’re relaxing, you’re in the car, the dance music can put you in that space and the lyrics can accentuate those feelings, and then it works the other way around too. If you’re in a club, the lyrics can connect you to something outside of the club in your normal life. It’s a space building. Putting things together. It can be cheesy but I really like songs that are about other people. I like the kind of pushing and pulling of wanting something you can’t have or having something but it’s not enough. Those simple songwriting tropes, I like playing with those. I’m not talking about the ‘You’re everything to me’ sort of approach but more ‘If you want it take it now, cause it’s not going to be on the table again’, feelings we all have with all sorts of different relationships. Whether it’s momentary or commentary, it can be weaved into all sorts of environments. My songs are all quite moody. They’re soulful, the harmonies are quite interesting. I try hard to make the music match the lyrics.
Dance music is very emotive and elicits a physical vulnerability and excitement and I think love songs talk about that, in a different way. Harmonising those two things together makes perfect sense to me.
Let’s take it back a little bit… You started your music career in a band called Astroid Boys. What spurred on the transition from being in the band, to becoming an electronic producer and DJ?
Before the band, I was a drum & bass DJ. I started buying records when I was like 12/13 after getting into a youth-centre close to me doing photography. I met some guys who listened to underground dance music, drum & bass was the most prevalent. Annie Mac and Fabio and Grooverider on Radio 1, D&BTV was a big thing, it was popping and it was probably the most exciting time for me, discovering the innovation of drum & bass and the dubplate culture. It was the best. I had a radio show with my mate josh. We were buying vinyl every week and playing them on the radio. I would hear about DJs having dubplates cut for them, and I was like, how can I, as a 13 year old, get my hands on these? How can I get DJ Hazard to send me a white label? How do I do that? Obviously that’s impossible as a child. I was 13 years old. No wax was coming my way. So instead, I messaged people on Myspace and said ‘How do you make music?’. There was a drum & bass producer from Birmingham that I got in touch with and he sent me screenshots of Reason 3, annotated on Paint, showing me what he did and how to make music. He taught me loads. I started teaching myself how to make music so I could have my own dubplates. I then started the band at 15 after a vocalist came into the drum & bass radio show. He was spitting bars, which were sick. I showed him some of my tunes, he loved them so we made a track, then a video, and became a band called Astroid Boys. 6 years went on, that’s all I was doing. Touring, one of our vocalists went to prison so I was on mic duties for a year and a half. Stage diving, producing. When that ceased to exist, the natural progression was to go back to what I was doing in the first place and carry on producing records that I liked. That’s when I started doing the grime edits.
Your core message is ‘“there’s always a route in – no matter where you come from” – talk to me about this statement. Why is this important for you to share with others?
Newport, where I come from, is very working class. Everyone is very proud of their working class identity. Everyone does the best that they can, regardless of their situation. By situation I mean, there’s a lot of crime and poverty. There’s a lot of struggle. I wasn’t brought into music through nepotism, my parents weren’t in music, my dad just liked music, so I had some kind of ear for music. But there was no showing of the industry, no showing of the different roles, you’re not taught that because there’s a survival element to school and the wider community. You should get a job that pays you well, 30k a year. Get a partner, get a mortgage, pay that off for 25 years. Have a holiday every year, then, once it’s paid off, go on holiday twice a year… and that’s amazing and it works, but that’s what I thought you had to do growing up in a working class city, you’re not shown another way. Basically, you don’t have to fall within the confines of your society or wealth bracket or microcosm. You can get into anywhere if you really care about it, if you’re intrigued or interested. I’ve seen so many people who are incredibly creative and they have no resources. They don’t know how it all works, and they all deserve as much, if not more, a shot at being successful. They deserve opportunities more than someone getting them just because their parents know someone. You can find your way in through reaching out, being curious. You can do it. Mine was messaging someone on Myspace.
What do you think is the key to standing out in this modern age of music creation? 
I think passion is the main thing. If you want to give something back rather than just always being a consumerist – whether that’s creatively, sonically or vocally – then you have to be passionate enough about it to not feel too knocked down when something doesn’t do what you thought it would. You have to be driven by the want to do it and not by the metrics that define success. Why did you create the project in the first place? What are you trying to say? What do you care about? Being passionate about the organic ethos of you and what you care about. Maintaining that is of the utmost importance, in my opinion. And then staying curious. Stay open. Be open-minded and well informed. Be honest about when you don’t feel informed or know the answers, have the honesty to say you don’t know that artist or you don’t know that thing. It’s a very difficult thing to get there, to get that level of comfortability as a person. You have to work on that first and foremost, being honest and becoming that sort of person so that when you do put something out there, you’re not doing it for a gain of ego, you’re doing it from a heartfelt place. Usually that connects with people a bit more too, ‘cause people see themselves in you. They like how vulnerable you’re being, and sometimes that speaks more than the art itself.

There aren’t many artists who’ve soundtracked the birth of dance music and are still leading its development more than three decades later. There are even less who have gifted both the club and pop scenes with unforgettable musical moments that get talked about in hushed tones years after their creation. Dave Seaman is one of a select few.
Whether it’s one of his spine-tingling Global Underground or Renaissance CDs that’s still burning a hole in your stereo years after its purchase, or the perfect pop of Kylie’s ‘Confide In Me’ that he co-wrote, produced and remixed, there’s very few with their heart in electronic music who haven’t been touched by his oeuvre in one form or another.

Tell us about your first performance opportunity and how it fueled your passion..
I was 13 years old. It was for a 12 year old’s birthday party at St. Mary’s Church Hall in Garforth, Leeds in 1981 using one dansette turntable and a tape deck to go from one track to the next. I seem to remember Men At Work’s ‘Down Under’ was the biggest track of the night. I was forever hooked from that moment onwards.
How would you encourage emerging artists wanting to break through?
Be patient but persistent, focussed and humble, and surround yourself with the best team of like-minded, talented people you’re able to recruit. Most of all, enjoy the ride. The destination is sometimes not as memorable as the adventures along the way.

Share your favourite clubbing memory.
Jeez. Too many to remember. I’ve been fortunate enough to experience some amazing parties. One that does instantly spring to mind though is Renaissance’s 2nd birthday at The Que Club in Birmingham. I vividly remember being up in the rafters at the very back of the club, high above everything that was going on and having a moment of clarity that this scene that we’d all been living and breathing for the previous few years was really only just beginning. It wasn’t just another passing fad. This cultural revolution was here to stay. And true enough, here we still all are.
Provide an outlandish rider (be creative).
Bubble Wrap Room: A whole room lined with bubble wrap that must be popped only by the DJ during their performance for optimal energy release.
Miniature Theme Park: A small-scale, fully functional theme park with a roller coaster, carousel, and funhouse mirror maze, set up backstage for the DJ’s relaxation and inspiration before the show.
Floating DJ Booth: A DJ booth that levitates three feet off the ground, supported by a system of invisible wires or magnetic fields, giving the illusion of floating while performing.
Custom Mascots: A set of personalized mascots that resemble mythical creatures of the DJ’s own design, complete with elaborate costumes and choreographed dance routines to perform during the set breaks.

And I’m going to be very busy touring for pretty much most of the year. We’ve got lots of events planned with Selador in Glasgow, Amsterdam, Birmingham and our Ibiza residency at Akasha, plus I have shows in North and South America including incredible venues like Stereo in Montreal, Bar Americas in Guadalajara and Flash in Washington DC, and amazing festivals like Noisily, Bestival and Balance Croatia. Another huge factor fueling this revival is how streaming platforms are reshaping music discovery. While festival trends once dictated what genres flourished, algorithm-driven discovery on platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube are exposing millions of listeners to progressive house tracks—new and old alike.
Older anthems from progressive house’s peak era (2012-2015) are getting rediscovered by younger fans who weren’t part of the original movement. Playlists like “Progressive House 2025” are seeing a surge in engagement, introducing both legacy and emerging artists to a new audience. Algorithm-based recommendations are pushing progressive house tracks into rotation, leading to increased streams and renewed interest in the genre. A New Wave of Producers Pushing the Sound Forward
While veteran names like Axwell, Alesso, and Third Party remain central to the genre’s return, a new generation of producers is redefining what progressive house sounds like in 2025. [EDM.com] Carl Cox Postpones Return to Detroit's Movement Festival Until 2026

Carl Cox's return to Detroit's Movement Festival has been delayed by one year, he announced this week.
The British techno legend was slated to return for the first time in eight years with a special "Hybrid Live" performance. To the dismay of fans, he revealed that scheduling conflicts preclude him from delivering his hotly anticipated performance, which has now been postponed to 2026.
"I'm sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, but I promise to make it worth the wait," Cox said in a statement. "When I return, I'll bring my full live show experience, and it's going to be epic! Thank you for your understanding and continued support. See you all in 2026 for an unforgettable show!"
While the postponement of Cox's return to Hart Plaza is disappointing, Movement's organizers have recruited a hometown legend to headline in his place. Detroit techno pioneer Jeff Mills will instead close out Movement's main stage on the first night of the festival.

[EDM House Network] Fyre Festival 2.0: A Controversial Comeback

In a shocking display of either blind optimism or sheer audacity, Billy McFarland, the mastermind behind the legendary disaster that was Fyre Festival in 2017, has announced its return. That’s right—Fyre Festival 2.0 is officially happening from May 30 to June 2, 2025, on Isla Mujeres, a beautiful island off the coast of Cancun, Mexico. Because if there’s one thing the world needed, it was another luxury festival led by a guy famous for not actually delivering a festival.
The first Fyre Festival was nothing short of an absolute trainwreck. Marketed as an ultra-exclusive music experience with gourmet meals and lavish accommodations, the reality was more like an abandoned summer camp featuring FEMA tents, cold cheese sandwiches, and an artist lineup that consisted of a random guy with an acoustic guitar near a bonfire.
McFarland ended up with a six year prison sentence for defrauding investors out of $26 million, while the event’s celebrity endorsers—like Ja Rule, Bella Hadid, and Kendall Jenner—walked away with nothing more than mild social media backlash. The failure of Fyre Festival 1.0 was so epic that it even earned its own Netflix documentary, The Greatest Festival That Never Happened.
However, Fyre Festival 2.0 is supposed to be different, McFarland claims;
“We’re going to have artists across electronic, hip hop, pop and rock. However, it’s not just music. We might have a professional skateboarder do a demonstration. We might have an MMA champion teach you techniques in the morning.” via TODAY.
It’s almost as if he’s scrambling to fill a festival itinerary with whatever ideas popped into his head… because nothing says ‘luxury music festival’ like getting punched in the face by Conor McGregor.
Despite the internet’s collective disbelief, McFarland claims the first batch of tickets—ranging from a budget-friendly $1,400 to an extremely reasonable $1.1 million—have already sold out. Naturally, no official artist lineup has been revealed yet, but based on the first Fyre Festival’s track record, expectations are somewhere between “a Bluetooth speaker on a folding table” and “a performer who forgot to show up.” The event also promises “luxury accommodations,” which could mean anything from five-star villas to a new round of disaster relief tents.
Will Fyre Festival 2.0 be a redemption arc or just another flaming mess? Only time will tell. I’m personally excited to see how it all plays out- and if all goes well, maybe you’ll even see me there next year. [EDMTunes] Fyre Festival 2 Tickets Go On Sale – Including $1 Million Package

Billy McFarland is officially back (for now). After multiple lawsuits, a prison sentence, and two documentaries, the disgraced founder is ready for Fyre Festival round 2. Surely he couldn’t screw it up twice, right? The revived festival is set to take place from May 30 to June 2 on Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo, Mexico. Billy had this to say:
Citing new management of the company, McFarland insists that this time will be different. While no artists have been confirmed, he claims he expects to book A-list performers in the coming months. We have heard this story before. He plans to have artists across “electronic, hip-hop, pop, and rock.”
However, it will not all be about music. He plans “to have a professional skateboarder do a demonstration. We might have an MMA champion teach you techniques in the morning.” This year’s festival will be capped at 2,000 attendees. McFarland is stepping away from operational responsibilities this time, handing them over to “a major festival operator.”
Ticket Tiers
Tickets for Fyre 2 are now on sale, ranging from $1,400 to $1.1 million, depending on the package. Here’s what each tier includes:
“Ignite” ($1,400 per ticket): General admission includes access to the festival grounds and Water Stage, and transportation to and from designated hotels and other gathering points. Hotel accommodations are not included. “Fuego” VIP ($5,000 per ticket): VIP access to festival grounds, front-row viewing of the Water Stage, and close-up access to the Fight Pit. Hotel accommodations are not included. “Phoenix” ($25,000 per ticket): Includes luxury accommodations for two for three nights, backstage access to the Water Stage and Fight Pit, a curated itinerary of “Fyre Experiences,” weekend transportation, Fyre concierge access and private ground transport to and from Cancún airport. “Prometheus” ($1.1 million package): A luxury package that includes complete onstage access, a curated itinerary, a 24/7 private chauffeur and the option of a private four-stateroom yacht or a four-bedroom villa near the festival grounds for three nights. [EDM.com] The DJs Who Helped Shape the 2025 Skyline Festival in Los Angeles

Surrounded by towering skyscrapers on all sides, Los Angeles' Skyline Festival lived up to its name by engulfing the streets of downtown with the hard-hitting beats of techno and house music.
The Insomniac Events production absorbed three city blocks for two days of dance music utopia. Using the elegant city hall tower as its anchor, the festival went with a more minimalistic approach in design in 2025, utilizing all of the amenities Grand Park offered.

The three stages within the festival grounds all followed through with that modest method, each revealing monolithic industrial aesthetics paired with dark lighting packages. This allowed for a more underground feel to the event, immersing attendees in the true gritty nature of electronica.

[EDM House Network] This was: A State of Trance 2025

A State of Trance (ASOT) returned to Rotterdam Ahoy on February 21-22, 2025, for another unforgettable weekend celebrating the best in trance and electronic music. The two-day festival brought together over 40,000 passionate fans worldwide, showcasing an impressive variety of trance subgenres across five uniquely designed stages. As my third ASOT experience and second time at Rotterdam Ahoy, I was eager to see how this year’s edition would unfold. Friday kicked off with two areas open until 1 AM, while Saturday expanded to the full five-stage experience, keeping the energy flowing until 6 AM.
Venue
Rotterdam Ahoy proved once again why it’s the perfect home for ASOT. The venue’s layout was thoughtfully organized, making navigation between stages effortless even during peak hours. Clear signage directed attendees to each area, eliminating confusion that often plagues large-scale events. The sound quality was exceptional throughout, with each stage featuring finely tuned audio systems that delivered crystal-clear highs and powerful bass without distortion.
One particularly welcome feature was the abundance of seating areas strategically placed around the venue, offering welcome respite between dance sessions. The spacious corridors prevented bottlenecks (an upgrade from last year!), while the overall flow of the venue created a seamless experience from entrance to exit. Compared to other large electronic music festivals, ASOT at Rotterdam Ahoy sets the gold standard for logistical excellence and attendee comfort.
Food & Drinks
ASOT 2025 stepped up its culinary game with a diverse range of options catering to all tastes and dietary preferences. The food court offered substantial meals including original Philly cheesesteaks (€11) with special versions ranging from €11-14, and importantly, vegan alternatives were available. Other options included loaded nachos (€9.50), fries (€5.95), smoothies (€6.95), bananas (€2.50), and döner kebab (€12) with vegan options as well.
The beverage selection was equally impressive, with medium beers priced at €4 and large beers at €7.50. Other options included Desperados and hard seltzers (€6.50 each), water (€5), Pepsi/Pepsi Max and 7-Up (€3.85), iced tea and energy drinks (€5.50), wine (€5.50), and cocktails ranging from €10.50 to €11.50. The cashless payment system was efficient and convenient – card payments were accepted directly, eliminating the need for tokens. For those with cash, special cards could be loaded with funds at designated stations, streamlining the purchasing process.
Stages
ASOT showcased five distinctly designed stages, each with its own personality and atmosphere. Area One, the mainstage, was truly larger than life, featuring balconies on each side and a VIP section at the back offering exclusive views behind the DJ booth. The room’s grandeur was enhanced by towering LED screens and spectacular pyrotechnics that perfectly complemented the high-energy performances.
Area Two made a bold statement with its massive LED tower resembling a skyscraper at the center, surrounded by crossing laser beams that created geometric patterns throughout the space. The industrial lighting and raw energy of this area perfectly suited the deeper, more intense sets performed there.
Area Three occupied the space where Area Four was positioned last year, centrally located near the food court. Its multi-level built structure created interesting perspectives from which to experience the music.
Area Four offered a more intimate setting featuring an impressive LED light installation spanning the entire ceiling, creating an immersive canopy of light.
Perhaps the most talked-about was Area Five, designed as an illuminated tunnel with strings of lights creating an otherworldly atmosphere. As visitors entered this space, they were surrounded by LED panels that pulsed in sync with the music, creating what felt like a portal to another dimension. This area quickly became a fan favorite, with many returning throughout Saturday night just to experience its unique ambiance.
What made ASOT 2025 truly special was how each stage offered a completely different vibe while maintaining perfect sound quality and expertly executed lighting designs. Adding to the global nature of the event, Areas One and Two were live-streamed on ASOT.tv, allowing fans worldwide to join the experience virtually.
Music
Now let’s dive in to the line up. The music at ASOT 2025 perfectly demonstrated the evolving nature of trance music while honoring its roots. A notable highlight was the collaboration between ARTBAT and Armin van Buuren, delivering a high-energy set that blended danceable house vibes with trance elements. Their performance included crowd-pleasers like Bigfett’s “Takatum,” Charlotte de Witte’s remix of “Age of Love,” Meduza’s “Friends” (Artbat Remix), and singalong favorites like Temper Trap’s “Sweet Disposition” and Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used to Know.”
Ferry Corsten once again proved his versatility and consistency, surprising fans with an eclectic set that included his track “Yes Man,” alongside Flowjob’s “Fall from Space,” Brainchild’s “Symmetry C,” and Neutron’s “Poly.”
One of the weekend’s most anticipated performances was Armin van Buuren’s face-to-face set with Maddix. In my 17+ years of attending electronic music events, this unique format created an unforgettable experience as the two artists traded tracks and energy back and forth. Highlights included “Computers Take Over the World” (Maddix remix), T-78 & Roberto Molinaro’s “Bombacid,” and even Showtek’s hardstyle classic “FTS.” The crowd went wild when they premiered their new collaboration “Mouth Go La La,” and sang along passionately to “Lose This Feeling.”
Another boundary-pushing performance came from Armin van Buuren and Adam Beyer’s back-to-back set, which seamlessly blended trance and techno, demonstrating Armin’s versatility as not just the king of trance but a global leader in the dance music scene. Their set featured tracks like “Mr Navigator” and “Come with Me,” captivating the audience with their genre-defying selections.
My personal favorite set of the weekend came from Rocketman, whose fusion of psytrance and hard techno delivered incredible energy. His performance included “4am in the Rave,” “Piano Concerto No. #1,” his track “Una Hora Mas,” “Da Hard House Shit,” and my current favorite, “90s Bitch.”
Atmosphere & Overall Impressions
The atmosphere at ASOT was electric from start to finish. The passionate crowd, comprised of trance lovers from across the globe, created a sense of unity that elevated the entire experience.
The production values were exceptional, with state-of-the-art sound systems and lighting rigs that transformed each area into its own universe. While the event was impressively organized, there were moments when certain areas became somewhat crowded, particularly during headline performances. However, the thoughtful layout of the venue made it easy to navigate even during these peak times. My only minor disappointment was the reduced representation of psytrance compared to last year’s edition.
Overall, A State of Trance 2025 successfully built upon its legacy while pushing boundaries with innovative stage designs and bold line up choices. The event solidified its reputation as the premier trance gathering worldwide, bringing together diverse subgenres and creating memorable moments that will sustain fans until next year’s edition. For trance enthusiasts, ASOT remains an essential pilgrimage that continues to elevate the genre while honoring its rich history.

Coachella 2025 is already shaping up to be a haven for electronic music lovers, and the Do Lab’s recently announced lineup has just amplified the excitement. Known for its eclectic and forward-thinking bookings, the Do Lab is bringing a diverse roster of artists to the desert, further solidifying Coachella’s as one of the best music festivals in the country.
The Do Lab’s presence at Coachella dates back to 2005, and over the years, it has become a festival within a festival, showcasing both established and emerging talent. Past performances have included heavy hitters like Billie Eilish, DJ Snake, and Rüfüs Du Sol, setting the bar high for this year’s edition. This year’s Coachella lineup, announced last November, already boasted a strong contingent of dance and electronic artists, including Above & Beyond, The Prodigy, Sara Landry, Keinemusic, Alok, Darkside, Zedd, and Kraftwerk. With the addition of the Do Lab’s programming, the dance music offerings have become even more impressive.
The Do Lab’s weekend lineups feature a rotating cast of artists, ensuring a unique experience each day. Highlights include Tokimonsta, Anderson .Paak performing as DJ Pee .Wee, a DJ set from Confidence Man, a DJ set by Tycho, Nimino, Kaleena Zanders, Villager, Ladies of Leisure, Rudimental b2b Skepsis, Snakehips b2b What So Not, J. Phlip, and Aqutie, among many others.
This blend of established names and rising stars promises to keep the energy high throughout the weekend.

15 years strong and only getting bigger, Chicago's beloved North Coast Music Festival has revealed a powerhouse Phase 1 lineup that reads like an electronic music lover's dream journal.
North Coast is scheduled to return over Labor Day Weekend from August 29-31, 2025. The first wave of artists features a formidable list of headliners, including Zedd, Excision, REZZ, Chris Lake, RL Grime, Zeds Dead, Seven Lions, SVDDEN DEATH's VOYD and EDM.com Class of 2024 star Of The Trees.
In a significant homecoming moment, Chicago natives Kaskade and Louis The Child will return to their roots for special headline performances, celebrating the festival's 15-year legacy in the Windy City. Adding to the anniversary excitement, electronic music pioneer deadmau5 will return to North Coast for the first time since 2017 to perform a rare drum & bass set.

2024 was a banner year for the electric festival, which broke its own attendance record after roughly 90,000 raved their nights away at SeatGeek Stadium. Organizers have confirmed the return of several signature experiential elements that have become fan-favorites over the years.
The Chill Dome will once again transform a full soccer field into an air-conditioned sanctuary featuring lasers, comfortable cushions and DJs spinning downtempo, lo-fi and deep house music. Other returning attractions include Incendia's mesmerizing Fire Pit Stage, the popular NCMF Yacht Club overlooking the Shipyard Stage, the speakeasy-style Club Coast and the festival's ferris wheel.
North Coast is also introducing a new GA PLUS ticket tier this year, offering general admission access enhanced with premium amenities such as express entry and air-conditioned restrooms.
