[EDMTunes] Insomniac Announces First Phase Of EDC Week Shows In Las Vegas

Insomniac announces the return of EDC Week in Las Vegas, taking place May 14 – 20, 2025, with the unveiling of the first phase of artists to be performing during the weeklong schedule of night and day parties in anticipation of the 29th edition of North America’s largest dance music festival, Electric Daisy Carnival. In the week leading up to the festival at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, over 40 of dance music’s biggest names and innovators will inundate 16 of the Strip’s premier indoor and outdoor venues, delivering an unforgettable week of nonstop partying.


Beginning on Wednesday, May 14 and continuing on until Monday evening, the week will be packed with best-in-class production and relentless energy. Some key highlights of the week-long roster of performances include house music superstars John Summit and Dom Dolla and Knock2 at LIV Nightclub, legendary electronic music duo ODESZA at XS at Wynn Las Vegas, and Chris Lake, Tiësto, Kygo, and Alesso at Las Vegas’ newest dayclub, Palm Tree Beach Club at MGM Grand Hotel and Casino.

Additionally, fans can expect a plethora of Insomniac-branded events. Underground house and techno brand, Factory 93, is slated to host a show at the Downtown Las Vegas Event Center with a special B2B set from hard techno powerhouses Sara Landry and Nico Moreno. Bassrush Massive, will be held at The Theater at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, with SVDDEN DEATH, Ray Volpe, YDG, and more. After finding a home in Los Angeles, Cloonee is ready to deliver what he's calling the biggest show of his career in honor of the city that helped him grow.
The house music star in June is joining forces with Insomniac's Factory 93 brand to showcase the sounds of his label, Hellbent Records, label in downtown Los Angeles. Fans of the British DJ will also be treated to the sounds of a handful of special guests, who have not been announced at the time of this writing.
Cloonee also got in front of the camera and opened up about the impact of his new home, explaining that LA's melting pot of cultures has influenced his artistic endeavors. He recently used his platform to raise money for those affected by the devastating LA wildfires, which scorched over 57,000 acres and killed at least 29 people.
"The people of LA have welcomed me with nothing but open arms," Cloonee said. "I'm very aware that I’m a guest in their many cultures, but they’ve never made me feel like that, and for that, I feel very lucky. Being in the melting pot of LA has unlocked parts of my artistic nature that I didn’t know I had."
"The last show here was in December 2023. We did back-to-back nights; both sold out, it was crazy, and it’s something I didn’t think I could do. But now we’re coming back to do it even bigger. This show will be the biggest of my career, in the city that I love, for the people who have helped me get here."

[EDM.com] Amazon's Alexa Can Now Create Songs Using Nothing But AI and Your Voice—But at What Cost?

Amazon's Alexa+ just got a musical upgrade, but major record labels are not singing along.
The tech giant has partnered with AI music company Suno for a new integration that allows users to generate complete songs, including lyrics, vocals and instrumentals, simply by asking Alexa. The feature is part of Amazon's broader rollout of Alexa+, an upgraded version of its voice assistant infused with AI-powered capabilities, according to Billboard.
"Using Alexa's integration with Suno, you can turn simple, creative requests into complete songs," Amazon wrote in a blog post announcing the update this week. "Looking to delight your partner with a personalized song for their birthday based on their love of cats, or surprise your kid by creating a rap using their favorite cartoon characters? Alexa+ has you covered."
Amazon's embrace of Suno is raising eyebrows across the music industry, considering the owner of a major streaming service would align itself with an AI company currently being sued for its data practices. It's worth noting that Amazon has also invested $8 billion in the AI juggernaut Anthropic, which is currently entangled in its own copyright lawsuit with music publishers.
Major labels "are not happy" about Alexa's Suno integration, according to music tech executive Drew Thurlow, Sony's former Head of A&R, who said Amazon's music partners were not notified prior. Even more perplexing is the fact that Amazon Music deepened its relationship with Universal Music Group just two months ago, pledging in late-December to collaborate on efforts to combat "unlawful AI-generated content."
The Alexa+ announcement comes at a precarious time for Suno, which is currently embroiled in a contentious legal battle with Universal, Sony and Warner, who have accused it of copyright infringement "on an almost unimaginable scale." Spearheaded by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), the lawsuit alleges that Suno used copyrighted recordings without permission to train its AI models. The trade body is seeking damages of up to $150,000 for each copyrighted work.
In a court filing, Suno conceded that its AI model "presumably" trained itself on "tens of millions" of copyrighted recordings, though the company maintained that its practices fall within legal bounds. Co-founder and CEO Mikey Shulman has dismissed the explosive lawsuit as "fundamentally flawed," arguing that "learning is not infringing."
Shulman poured gasoline on the controversy in January, when he faced ubiquitous backlash after claiming on a podcast that most people find the music creation process "not really enjoyable."
Whether this gamble pays off remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: Alexa isn't just playing your favorite songs anymore. Now, it's making them.

Two Drumcode mainstays, Layton Giordani & Bart Skils, join forces on rapturous but dark-edged Techno thriller ‘Deadly Valentine’, out now on Adam Beyer’s imprint. Skils is globally renowned for his chart-invading take-no-prisoners Techno. The Dutch producer’s last release on Beyer’s imprint was the 2024 Sakura EP comprising collaborations with SUDO and Drunken Kong. Giordani, also a chart topper, at the forefront of an exciting new genre-bending sound, combines influences of Melodic House, Progressive, and Indie Dance with Techno. His last DC outing was a recent rework of the seminal ‘Let’s Go Dancing’ from Tiga and Audion, and the otherworldly but peak time ‘Freaks At Night’ single last June.
‘Deadly Valentine’
The duo have a history of playing B2B at massive events like Drumcode, Loveland and Awakenings. This is their first collaborative standalone single (their ‘Midnight Magic’ was on Layton’s 2020 Drumcode LP).
Bart stated that Layton sent him the vocal idea. Then, Skils turned it into an arrangement with a rolling groove. Finally, the track was updated several times and mixed with a new vocalist for release. ‘Deadly Valentine’: complex, steady percussion with insistent Techno beat gives a dark questioning edge to the high, sweet vocal, fast, echoing, often layered or harmonising with itself, singing the apparently romantic wedding ceremony lyrics in French & English. The track is both ethereal and edgy, with tons of groove and Trance-esque elements. Play it as a proposal, or an ironic reason not to make one – or just dance to it.
Bart Skils
Bart Skils, a Drumcode mainstay, has enjoyed a monumental year of his own. His ‘Bart Skils Remixed’ package dropped earlier in the year to widespread praise, featuring remixes of ‘Something More’ by Joris Voorn and ‘Shadowprint’ by Dok & Martin. Sibold’s interpretation of ‘Roll The Dice’ now joins this lineage, injecting the track with fresh energy while honoring the melodic essence that made it a fan favorite.
Layton Giordani
The New York native continues to ride the success wave from 2024. With releases like ‘Let’s Go Dancing’ and ‘PATT’, his sounds have exponentially increased his following and influence in the scene. February waves goodbye in true Trancy fashion today.
The Anjunabeats female duo of the moment is back. Amy Wiles and Leena Punks have collaborated again, this time with vocals from flowanastasia, on a new Trance track called ‘Heard It All Before’. After their highly successful debut conjoint work ‘Sweet Feeling’, the bar was high for this release. And I think they’ve crushed it.
Amy Wiles, a regular artist on Anjunabeats, has released several successful tracks on the label, ever since her ‘Biding Time’ solo release in 2021. Once an Anjunabeats Rising star, she’s made her way to the very top and is now a recurrent face representing the A-label. Her sound has shifted towards old-school-tinted Trance, also making her one of my personal heroes for bringing this kind of Trance back to the spotlight.
Leena Punks, on the other hand, has a career many would envy. She got into music after finding her father’s vinyl collection. She started as a radio host and then performed at clubs in various cities. She’s been featured on BBC Radio 1, KISS FM, and SiriusXM, and she just completed a 2024 full of touring, to now be a resident DJ at E1.
‘Heard It All Before’
After topping the Breaks chart on Beatport with ‘Sweet Feeling’, Amy and Leena’s next track aimed for the stars. And they have, in fact, topped their past work with this one. Delicate yet euphoric, the track talks about heartbreak while lifting you up with those unmistakable Trance saws and 909 racks we all love.
Leena recalls the origins of the song: “I wrote a euphoric breaks record last year about a painful breakup with very emotional chords and melodies in the drop and breakdown. I sent it to Amy, and she loved it. It was great to see how our experiences and creativity came on this record and turned it into a big old-school trance banger. Also, it’s always great to work with one of your best mates who’s also a talented producer. Flowanastasia’s incredible delivery and lyrics gave me goosebumps and the record a more crossover feel”.
And to her words, Amy adds, “I just knew when Leena sent over the initial idea for HIAB that I had to work on it. The melodies and chords were very emotional, which is what I love. It’s great to hear how all of our styles have come together on this one, turning it into a commercial old skool trancey-sounding banger, and flowanastia’s lyrics and vocals have added that mainstream/crossover touch that we were after!“.
flowanastasia, a vocalist with a decade-long career, was in charge of adding the memorable toplines to ‘Heard It All Before’. With BBC Radio 1 features and even past involvement with Anjuna by working with Genix, she was the appropiate voice to call for the task. She says, “Feeling the hypnotic vibe in the music reminded me of being ‘on loop’ in past toxic relationships – like the emotions of being stuck in negative cycles – so I wanted to represent that in the lyrics“.

The second single from Rebūke‘s upcoming debut album has arrived. “Choose Life” — in tandem Dancing Astronaut Artist to Watch in 2025, Linska — follows WORLD OF ERA‘s first offering in “Endless” with both deadmau5 and Ed Graves. afterxheaven — the new drum and bass alias from Fransis Derelle — has united with both ROY KNOX and SadBois for “Say What You Mean.” Backed by Noah Cunane’s vocals and released via Monstercat, “Say What You Mean” blends melodic bass and drum and bass, with afterxheaven’s signature sound being showcased in the release’s climactic closing drop. Derelle’s newest venture continues to move at a rapid pace, having already made a main stage debut at Provenance NYE in Atlanta, Bass Canyon, and Das Energi Festival.
Mau P – The Less I Know The Better
Mau P‘s long-awaited rework of Tame Impala’s “The Less I Know The Better” has finally received the official release it deserves. Released via NERVOUS Records, Dancing Astronaut‘s 2023 Breakout Artist of the Year flips Kevin Park’s iconic original into a house undertaking, with its rooting dating all the way back to his live sets from 2023.
Amy Wiles, Leena Punks & flowanastasia – Heard It All Before
Amy Wiles — one of Dancing Astronaut‘s Artists to Watch in 2025 — has delivered her first original of 2025 via Anjunabeats, “Heard It All Before,” alongside Leena Punks and flowanastasia. Wiles explained that it’s “a track that was written about Leena’s heartbreak has truly turned into something so special for all of us,” and it formally puts her Artist to Watch campaign into motion for the new year.

News
Welcome to February’s edition of the UKF Monthly Round-Up! Another month down, and bass music continues to thrive as we head deeper into 2025. Let’s dive into some of the biggest moments from the last few weeks.
First up, we had some big news of our own—UKF was nominated for ‘Best Record Label’ at the Radio 1 Dance Awards! It was an absolute honor to be on the shortlist alongside some of the biggest and best in the game. Massive congratulations to Defected for taking home the win, and even bigger big ups to every single one of you who voted for us. Your support means the world!
Elsewhere in the industry, a major step forward for London’s nightlife has been announced. Mayor Sadiq Khan has unveiled the city’s first-ever Nightlife Taskforce, an 11-person team set to tackle challenges and opportunities in the capital’s nighttime economy. Among those appointed are fabric cofounder Cameron Leslie (chair of the group), Pxssy Palace founder Nadine Noor, Colour Factory founder Nathanael Williams, and NTIA CEO Michael Kill. Over the next six months, they’ll be working on recommendations to ensure London’s nightlife continues to thrive. A huge step in the right direction for club culture!
Festival season is already making moves—Boomtown Festival has been granted permission to increase its capacity by 11,000 attendees, bringing the total to a staggering 80,000. Known for its immersive storytelling and diverse lineup, Boomtown has assured fans that safety, traffic, and environmental concerns have been addressed, paving the way for an even bigger and better experience in 2025. If you weren’t already hyped for this summer, now’s the time!
The bass community was hit with heartbreaking news this month as we said goodbye to grime pioneer Terror Danjah. A true innovator, his intricate production style helped shape grime and UK bass music as we know it today. His influence extended far beyond the genre, leaving an undeniable mark on the electronic music landscape. Peers and fans alike have paid tribute, remembering his legacy and celebrating the groundbreaking work he created. Rest in power, Terror Danjah.
On a more personal note for the scene, beloved drum and bass MC Ben Verse shared an update on his health journey. After being diagnosed with acute monoblastic leukemia in 2024, he was finally discharged from the hospital after 208 days. In an emotional Instagram video on February 17, the former Pendulum member expressed his gratitude to fans, saying, “It means a hell of a lot… I can’t thank you enough.” A true warrior. The bass community continues to stand with him, sending strength and love every step of the way.

This four-track release was a masterclass in high-energy club music, balancing intricate drum programming with cutting-edge sound design solidified his reputation as one of the most exciting names in the game.
This momentum carried him straight into the orbit of Alix Perez’s 1985 Music, where he unleashed the Shooters Hill EP—a release that further solidified his place at the forefront of the jungle and drum & bass. The title track alone encapsulates everything Napes represents: a seamless fusion of old-school jungle vibes with a forward-thinking, futuristic edge.
Teaming up with MC Snowy, one of the UK’s most innovative vocalists, Napes has delivered a tune that effortlessly blurs the lines between old-school jungle foundations and new-school energy, creating a certified dancefloor weapon.
The entire Shooters Hill EP follows this trajectory—futuristic, boundary-pushing, and unapologetically bold. With his ability to deliver music that resonates with both purists and forward-thinkers alike, it feels like this is the year when Napes’ dedication to creativity and consistency will be rewarded with another groundbreaking year in 2025.

This vinyl set by Mantra at The Cause had the makings of a real show stopper and it didn’t disappoint. A thorough deep dive into the depths of jungle curation, giving us an hour of utter bliss. A real education in vinyl mixing.The crowd energy was high, the legendary MC Blackeye was on hand to steer the ship into one of those sets that you talk about long after the event has happened. This set, aswell as the others filmed that night, were brought to you by Killahertz. A brand that have been doing their bit to bring these underground sounds to your screens, working tirelessly to bring to light some of these flawless sets.

[EDM.com] Subtronics, Hedex and IRAH Drop Genre-Blending Bass Anthem, "System Shock"

One of the most highly anticipated IDs in bass music has finally arrived, "System Shock," a seismic collaboration between Subtronics, Hedex and IRAH.
Out now via Helix Records, the track was first unleashed on audiences across the country during Subtronics' 2024 US tour, for which Hedex provided direct support, before becoming a fan-favorite weapon in their DJ sets.
A word to the wise: if you're listening on your own sound system, make sure your speakers can handle the shock because this track delivers it in full force. A filthy fusion of their distinct styles, "System Shock" is an all-out bass onslaught from start to finish.
The energy kicks in immediately as the unmistakable vocals of IRAH—perhaps best known for his work on Chase & Status' global drum & bass hit "Baddadan"—cut through a storm of rising brass notes, building tension from the outset. The first drop then plunges us into a frenzy of drum & bass consistent with the trademark style of Hedex, who was named to the EDM.com Class of 2024 last year. However, Subtronics' influence is undeniable, as his growling sound design weaves through the chaos.
IRAH barely has a moment to catch his breath because as soon as that sequence reaches its conclusion, the tempo shifts dramatically, hurtling us towards the track's second climax. This time, earth-shaking dubstep takes hold in the form of a destructive drop all too familiar for fans of Subtronics. Wobbly, distorted waves of bass crash against IRAH's deep, rhythmic cadence, delivering an explosive contrast.
