It has been 6 years to the day since the world lost one of its biggest characters in Keith Flint of The Prodigy after he took his own life at the age of 49. On this day we look back on his storied career, the legacy he’s left behind, and the importance of raising awareness for mental health issues.
In the late 80s he latched onto the acid house movement which lead him to meeting Liam Howlett who had a similar taste in music and had been working on some music of his own. Flint managed to convince him that he should be playing his tracks on stage, brought in his friend Leeroy Thornbill to dance on stage with him, and soon after got Maxim Reality to join. With Keith and Leeroy as the dancers, Liam on the synths, and Maxim on vocals The Prodigy was born.
Keith remained as a dancer till 1996 when he would also start providing vocals for a couple of tracks, but little did he know that he was about to make history with his vocal contributions. His vocals appeared on ‘Firestarter’ and ‘Breathe’ which both went to number one in the UK charts and have become a couple of The Prodigy’s most iconic songs. He also starred in the music video for ‘Firestarter’ where he debuted his new, and now infamous, punk style. This look featured his hair styled into the horns that lasers now etch the outline of during ‘Firestarter’ at The Prodigy’s live shows as a tribute to him.
His voice has become engraved into history with him appearing on several other huge songs by The Prodigy including ‘Serial Thrilla’, ‘Omen’ and ‘We Live Forever’ to name a few. However, it’s his amazing stage presence that he is possibly best remembered for with his unmatched chaotic energy and unbelievable passion for performing. In contrast to his wild energy on stage, off stage he was known as a gentle sole who was full of kindness and generosity.
Unfortunately, a troubled childhood, drug addiction, and a long battle with depression took its toll on him and on 4th March 2019 he took his own life. His loss was felt across the world as tributes poured out from the likes of Jay Kay of Jamiroquai, Oasis, and Donatella Versace who was a friend of Flint’s. She dedicated her spring/summer 2020 menswear show to him with all the male models outfits reflecting his unique style and all of them sporting Keith’s ‘Firestarter’ hairstyle.
The death of Keith Flint is still felt and remembered today with The Prodigy taking to social media to say, “WE MISS U SO MUCH BROTHER, UR FIRE WILL NEVER FADE, L H & MAXIM X.” Along with this a mural of him at Braintree Town Football Club, local to where he used to live, has been restored for this solemn anniversary. Keith is an example of someone who lived life to the fullest and was unafraid to be himself which is something we can all aspire to. His death is a reminder of how important it is to be aware of the serious issue of suicide and making sure there is support in place to help prevent more losses like this. His memory will live on through the amazing music he made and his unmistakeable silhouette at every show The Prodigy does.

Las Vegas’s Sphere is really taking off and investors now toy with the idea of setting up “smaller” Spheres as an expansion. A Sphere could very well come to your city. Las Vegas’ hub already boasts a U2, Dead & Company, Anyma, and The Backstreet Boys residencies since its inception. They even hosted a plethora of The Eagles and Kenny Chesney shows. Its incredible 16,000 speakers blast your favorite music with unparalleled visuals for a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I am still reeling from Anyma’s The End of Genesys show, what incredible display of talent and vision!
An investors call on Monday with Sphere Entertainment Company CEO, James Dolan, revealed this expansion rumor. One such idea is for a smaller Sphere coming to Abu Dhabi, where lessons learned from the Vegas venue shall apply to the new one. This venue intends to hold a 5,000 seat capacity versus the normal 20,000. Additionally, Dolan also teases that a new experience, a new show may also debut with the new venue. We’re sure to expect different features of the Sphere as it takes place in its second home in the UAE.
Where To Go From Here?
Now, despite their lackluster financial quarter, Dolan insists on shrugging off these growing pains. Sphere Entertainment recorded a second quarter loss of $126 million and revenues down 2% from 2023. This resulted in a loss per share at $3.49. While it seems like a troubling time ahead, Dolan is not breaking a sweat. Surprisingly enough, much of the revenue come from the films that the Sphere plays including U2’s concert film of their residency at the venue and the “Postcards from Earth”. A minor setback came with Delta’s corporate takeover event in January, but the concerts still rake in $54.5 million. No wonder talks of expanding the Sphere venues is stirring. I think the world could use a few more “Orbi”s, the exosphere emoji is finally revealed. Its bright yellow sheen and smiling face looking down at the world beneath it. Walking up to the venue is exciting, eagerly anticipating what will be revealed on the inside. Taking advantage of the business and content already, anything goes with Sphere Entertainment this year.
What are your thoughts on adding smaller Spheres? Any good places for one? We’ll stay tuned for more news on this.

The Croatian coast has always been synonymous with timeless beauty, a place where nature and culture intertwine in perfect harmony. Once a year, this magic transforms into a unique seven-day spectacle July 11-16, where the sounds of world-class electronic music meet the azure Adriatic Sea and breathtaking locations that become stages for unforgettable summer moments. This is Destination ULTRA, a unique concept that redefines the fusion of festivals and tourism for modern travelers and music lovers. Each year, it evolves, and for the summer of 2025, it introduces a new travel itinerary across two islands and three locations. Destination Ultra is basically a week-long version of Ultra Europe combining a series of events together for one epic experience.
A key highlight of this edition is the relocation of the ULTRA Beach party to Olife Beach in Milna. In effect, it offers a more intimate, authentic, and luxurious setting. Consequently, it enhances the island’s natural beauty and brings a new dimension to festival tourism. This year also brings a new program addition, as RESISTANCE arrives at 585 Club on Brač, infusing the venue’s legendary energy with its distinct underground sound.
Destination Ultra Summer 2025 Itinerary
As the sun rises over Split and the last beats fade away at Park Mladeži, true adventurers don’t end their journey. Instead, Destination ULTRA continues. The seven-day concept combines the three-day Split spectacle with three exclusive island party destinations. Moreover, it imbues with the spirit of the Mediterranean. A new morning marks the beginning of the Ultranaut migration to the sea. The landscape is a flotilla of over 200 sailboats and yachts that sets course for the first destination. Moreover, The ULTRA Europe Family yacht leads the way, reserved for those who want to experience this musical odyssey in the most special way.
ULTRA drops anchor first in Bol, where Ultranauts will be welcomed by RESISTANCE Brač. The event is a powerful fusion of top-tier underground sound, electrifying energy, and flawless production at 585 Club. Located near one of the world’s most famous beaches, Zlatni Rat, this exclusive event takes on a whole new dimension. The intensified RESISTANCE sound will transform the nightlife scene on Brač, introducing an unmatched nocturnal euphoria to the island. On July 14th, 585 Club will embrace a night like never before, setting a new standard for party experiences on the Adriatic.
Furthermore, Destination ULTRA continues its journey, and on July 15th, the compass points to the ULTRA Beach party. However, it now sets in a completely new ambiance. Daytime parties are the epitome of summer hedonism, and this one has long held the title of Europe’s best beach party. This year, the rhythms of summer will move to Olife Beach in Milna. The beach is a place designed for the ultimate escape from reality. This refreshing change of scenery will bring new energy and yet another reason why ULTRA Beach remains an essential destination for every true lover of world-class summer entertainment.
Finale And Yacht Opportunity
After a day filled with euphoria, it’s time for the final chapter of this journey. The island of Vis awaits those ready to experience the grand finale of the Destination ULTRA adventure. On Wednesday, July 16th, the festival’s last stop brings more than just music. Moreover, the gates of Fort George open once again, marking the beginning of RESISTANCE Vis. This boutique event takes place at one of the most exclusive locations in the Mediterranean. As underground sounds take over the night, the atmosphere will create a story like no other. Lastly, a story for those who understand that the best moments in life don’t just happen—they must be found.
For those who want to experience the festival from an entirely new perspective, the organizers have prepared the ultimate fusion of music, luxury, and adventure – a seven-day cruise aboard the ULTRA Europe yacht. This exclusive experience redefines festival tourism, offering the perfect balance between world-class entertainmentand relaxation amidst the breathtaking Adriatic landscapes. Wake up in luxurious double cabins with a panoramic view of crystal-clear waters, indulge in gourmet delights on deck, explore hidden coves, and dance the night away front and center at the summer’s biggest electronic spectacle – all part of this premium package.
Ohhhh this is exciting! Do you want to go on a destination of a lifetime?

An official statement from the Mexican tourism board denies that Fyre Festival 2 exists. This goes in direct contradiction to the event’s founder Billy McFarland, who insisted the event is happening May 30th to June 2nd. Supposedly, the event is to take place at Isla Mujeres, a small island off Cancun, Mexico.
Fyre Festival 2
Just last week, tickets for the event went on sale with no lineup confirmed. Per the website, tickets range fron $1,400 to $25,000. However, there are premium packages up to $1.1 Million. McFarland insisted on the legitimacy of his dream on the Today Show. Furthermore, Fyre Festival’s official Instagram announced Mexican events team Lostnights would produce it. The company has produced shows which include artists such as Solomun, Michael Bibi, Vintage Culture, and more. In addition, they have produced for Mayan Warrior, and Day Zero.
Nevertheless, they claim contact was made with local officials and authorities to make sure the even will run smoothly. They also state that they secured partnership with top-notch private venues and hotels. But how accurate is this, really?
Tourism Board Statement
Edgar Gasca, representative for the Isla Mujeres tourism directorate, spoke with The Guardian and stated no such arrangements have been made.
He expressed that he heard the news during a tourism fair in Bogota, Colombia. Moreover, when he spoke with the minister for tourism in Quintana Roo state, as well as the hotels listed on the Fyre Festival site. However, neither had been contacted by the organizers about the event. The Municipal President of Isla Mujeres commented on the issue as well. Atenea Gomez Ricalde claims the only information they had from the festival was online.
Gasca added that this festival screams red flags everywhere. Not only do the coordinates on their website inaccurate, but they have no official municipal authorization to run an event of that magnitude. It seems McFarland thought he could get away with gaining traction from the public without actually requesting the permits until later.
Fyre Festival 1
This comes as a surprise to no one as Fyre Festival was a complete catastrophe back in 2017. Music acts canceled and guests were stranded, with lack of organization and accomodations. Consequently, McFarland was sentenced to six years in prison, and charged with fraud. After his release in less than four years of his sentence, he repaid $3 Million to a former investor. Furthermore, an NY court awarded $7,220 to 277 attendees.

After redefining live entertainment with its groundbreaking venue in Las Vegas, Sphere Entertainment has begun teasing plans to develop scaled-down versions in new markets.
As the original Vegas Sphere continues to dazzle audiences and draw major musical acts for residencies—including Anyma, U2 and Backstreet Boys—its proprietors are looking to extend its reach with smaller, more cost-efficient versions.
Chairman and CEO James Dolan confirmed during Sphere Entertainment's latest earnings call that Sphere is in the architectural design phase for "mini-Spheres" and is evaluating mid-sized cities as potential locations. The new venues would seat around 5,000 people, one-fourth the capacity of the recording-breaking original, which is both the world's largest spherical structure and LED screen.
The concept addresses two key challenges of the Las Vegas venue: its high operating costs and the limited number of artists who can justify the production expenses of performing there. By scaling down the venue while retaining the spirit of its signature technology, Sphere Entertainment can ostensibly offer a similar spectacle at a more sustainable cost for both artists and audiences alike.
c/o Anyma
The Vegas Sphere demands a significant investment from performers, who must create custom visual content tailored to the venue's wraparound LED display. While its been feasible for its high-profile residencies thus far, a smaller venue could attract a broader range of artists who might not have the budget or demand to fill the flagship Sphere location.
Beyond concerts, the Sphere brand has also proven successful with immersive films like V-U2: An Immersive Concert Film and Darren Aronofsky's Postcard from Earth. Similar productions, which cost significantly less than traditional live performances, could be a major draw for such a mini-Sphere ecosystem, offering audiences a cinematic live music experience without requiring an artist's presence.
With the Sphere concept in Las Vegas still in its formative era, Sphere Entertainment sees venue expansion as its next big growth opportunity, starting with plans for a forthcoming full-scale Sphere venue set to land in Abu Dhabi. The company has not announced a timeline for that venue at the time of this writing.

Boundary Brighton Festival returns to Stanmer Park on Saturday 27th September and kicks off a new era. It’s back to bass as Boundary returns to its musical roots – drum & bass, UK rap, garage, jungle, bass, grime, and more. Brighton’s biggest electronic music festival will sound fresh and look it too with a brand new site and stage layout. The Phase One line up announcement is a statement of intent with showstopping headliners, Giggs, Andy C, and Shy FX, alongside massive names like Camo & Krooked B2B Mefjus, Badger, D Double E, High Contrast, Girls Don’t Sync, Clipz, 4AM Kru, Bakey, Fabio & Grooverider and loads more. Tickets are on pre-sale 4th March starting at just £30 + b/f from www.boundarybrighton.com
Over 10 years Boundary Brighton has grown to become a nationally recognised festival where thousands of party people mark the end of festival season with an epic celebration of electronic music. Now, Boundary is evolving, bringing a new vibe while losing none of its sense of community, creativity, and passion for raving. With a new location in Stanmer Park, more stages (and top-tier stage partners), this is a new energy and reimagined Boundary experience.
As Boundary steps up to the next level, the Phase One announcement delivers a line up to match. Giggs steps up to the Boundary stage for a headline slot. The UK rap superstar has done it all; MOBO award winner, platinum record seller, Drake collaborator – few artists have done as much to put a scene on the map. Giggs at Boundary is going to be special. Also headlining is Andy C. When you talk about bass you have to talk about ‘the executioner’, another genre-defining artist 100% proven to tear up any stage whether he’s selling out Wembley Arena or packing out an underground residency at XOYO. This set will be absolutely huge! Shy FX also tops the bill and could be nowhere else. Since breaking through 25 years ago with ragga jungle anthem ‘Original Nuttah’ with UK Apache, Shy FX has been a mainstay of jungle and drum & bass. He’s produced and remixed for Dizzee Rascal, Kano, Chase & Status – the list goes on. Shy FX on the decks will never disappoint.
Everywhere you look on this Phase One announcement there is proven talent. Highly respected duo Camo & Krooked go B2B with longtime collaborator Mefjus which is sure to deliver some D&B fire. Badger is unmissable with his unique, pumped-up, party garage, while D Double E will bring the slickest grime flows. Original junglist Clipz has made a welcome return to the scene and lands at Boundary after conquering all corners of the dance music circuit under his Redlight alias. High Contrast has been at the top table of D&B for over two decades – he’ll get Boundary bouncing with uplifting summer grooves. Girls Don’t Sync bring a box of garage bangers wherever they go and just keep getting bigger, much like 4AM Kru whose high-energy, bass-heavy rave spawned a massive album last year. The shouts will go up for Bakey from the Boundary aficionados when he takes to the decks with his credible take on UKG.
There will be no escaping quality tunes and big performances with artists also announced today including Amplify, Break & GQ, Champion, DJ Jackum, Emily Makis, Fabio & Grooverider & SP:MC, Mandidextrous & Maddy V, P Money & Whiney, and Simula.
More evidence of the new era of bass and vibes at Boundary Brighton Festival this year is found with the announcement of this year’s stage partners – a mix of the biggest names in bass and renowned local heroes. Boundary festivalgoers will be spoilt for choice with stages from UKF, Hospitality, Fingerlickin’ Records, Patterns, Volks, and In The Wild.

The ‘Wolf In My Clothes‘ EP by Wennink for Automatik is another captivating four-track trip that shows us new sides of an artist we thought we knew.
As soon as I dimmed the lights in my listening space and let the opening synth lines of the title track wash over me, I was immediately taken to that rare sonic space where melody and feeling meet technical precision. What comes next is a carefully thought-out story arc that shows an artist moving boldly into his own voice.
A deep dive into Wolf In My Clothes
The opening and title track of the EP, “Wolf In My Clothes,” unfolds like a nighttime discovery. The hypnotic, pulsing synth rhythm that starts the piece gives you a sense of moving forward right away, like you’re on a journey that starts in the dark. Wennink’s vocals come through this electronic fog with a haunting closeness that feels both personal and universal. The percussion comes in with surgical precision, with each piece finding its perfect place in the soundscape. This creates a delicate balance between the speed of the dancing and the depth of thought.
The easy way Wennink moves between places is what stands out here. His unique singing voice has been used by big names in musical techno on labels like Afterlife and Crosstown Rebels. He’s confident in his own production, which shows years of studio work finally being allowed to breathe on its own terms.
“The Last Time” has what could be the EP’s most emotionally powerful moment. The angelic vocals rise above a bed of carefully layered synths, making you feel like you’re flying through memories. Both the lyrics and the way they’re delivered have a palpable vulnerability that works so well with the confident way the song builds up. It’s the kind of piece that would sound good either as the sun rises over an Ibiza deck or as a lonely person drives through the city at night.
When “Sleep For Days” comes out, the EP goes into a darker, more contemplative space. The beat slows down, making room for more minor harmonic explorations. This third original production shows Wennink’s wide range—he can make moments that are perfect for a club or music that is perfect for a quiet evening alone. The track’s slow buildup and variety of textures show that the producer knows that emotional effect often comes from moderation rather than excess.

The Remixes
Rinzen‘s remix of the title track is the perfect way to end the EP. It pays tribute to the original while firmly putting it on peak-time dancefloors. Rinzen adds progressive parts that boost the emotional core of the track while adding a strong rhythmic framework. He does this by drawing on his famous cinematic approach to melodic techno, which was brilliantly shown on his most recent album on Lane 8’s label This Never Happened.
This remix has already been backed by big names in the scene, including Adriatique, Innellea, Rivo, and Wennink’s wife Henri Bergmann. It has that rare quality of sounding both instantly familiar and completely new, which is the mark of a truly exceptional remake.
There is a lot of attention to detail in the whole EP. It feels like every element was put on purpose, and every transition was carefully thought out. But these tracks don’t sound scientific at all—they have a natural warmth that makes you want to listen to them again and again, finding new subtleties each time.
The EP is technically precise and emotionally powerful. Wennink has made a collection of music that speaks to both the mind and the body, going beyond the often rigid limits of different types of electronic music.
“Wolf In My Clothes” isn’t Wennink’s first release on Automatik, but it’s also the arrival of a fully developed artist, whose future contributions to the ever-growing world of electronic music will be very interesting to watch.

International multi-certified French Singer-Songwriter Jain has joined forces with iconic Bosnian–German DJ/Producer Solomun. The two have released a vibrant and glistening dance-pop hit ‘Tout le monde est fou’ (French for “Everyone is crazy”). Out now via Arista Records/Sony Music France.
Jain is best known for her global hit ‘Makeba’ which garnered 722 Million+ streams. At a time when our heads can’t seem to stop spinning because it feels like the whole world has gone insane, Jain and Solomun anthemize this feeling in this instant hit. ‘Tout le monde est fou’ features Jain singing in French for the first time, a twist sure to excite fans. The release comes in a bundle that includes the extended cosmic disco-flavored club version, which Solomun has been teasing during his Latin America and US tour since December 2024.Reflecting on the track’s creation, Solomun shares:
The essence of the track’s official music video, directed by AI Artist Luigi Bastelica, captures humanity at its most chaotic, magnificent, and terrifying. A seamless loop of breathtaking shots, each more incredible than the last, unfolds in a continuous traveling movement – following, completing, and contradicting one another. While some scenes depict dystopian scenarios that do not yet exist, others are, unfortunately, all too real.

Techno titan Marc Romboy makes a triumphant return to his revered Systematic Recordings, this time joining forces with the enigmatic Skatman for a collaboration that promises to captivate the underground.
A true master of his craft, Romboy has spent decades shaping the landscape of electronic music, seamlessly blending leftfield ingenuity with synth-driven techno alchemy. His signature sound has echoed across global dancefloors, leaving an indelible mark on the scene. Skatman, a visionary producer, DJ, and head of Cognitive Prophecy, has carved out his own niche with an esoteric approach to sound design, earning acclaim for his ethereal yet powerful releases on Innervisions. Having previously remixed Romboy, he now steps into the spotlight once again, bringing his refined artistry to this electrifying new track.
‘Summer of 1986’ is a transportive sonic odyssey—a subtle yet evocative homage to the past, where vintage house stabs ignite a groove-laden rhythm atop intricately woven, textural drums. A brooding, shadowy vocal injects an air of intrigue, while feverish acid lines writhe and twist through the mix, adding untamed energy. Meanwhile, melancholic synth swells cast a contemplative spell, lending depth and emotion to this hypnotic composition. Bold, immersive, and brimming with timeless allure, ‘Summer of 1986‘ is a testament to the artistry of two boundary-pushing producers at the height of their powers. Listen here.

Tiësto has teamed up with rising Techno and Tech-House artist Oscar L for their new track ‘Flex.’ This new banger from the industry titan brings a fresh twist to his catalog. ‘Flex’ stands out with its unexpected use of metallic synths and a driving beat that sets the stage for the track’s unique sound. Together, the two artists have crafted a track that stands apart from the mainstream releases.
A Track Like No Other
“Flex” starts with a heavy beat and metallic synths that lead into a male dialogue saying:
After repeating the hook “Get That Money I’m Flex”, ‘Flex’ drops into a rhythm that stands apart from the usual tech house, with a synth that has a sound of its own, adding a surprising edge. The drop then breaks down with the dialogue and builds back up to a new version of the first drop. This time, adding in a melodic synth layered over the male vocal to enhance the emotional impact.
Tiesto & Oscar L: A Powerful Collaboration and What’s Next
This collaboration between TiĂŤsto and Oscar L brings together their skills and creative energies to create something truly unique.
Oscar L, a mainstay in the Techno and Tech-House scenes for over 15 years, has produced music for top-tier labels like Drumcode and Knee Deep in Sound, bringing his dynamic style to this track. ‘Flex’ comes after his massive releases, ‘Yapper‘ and ‘Addiction‘ with Max Styler, another industry leader in the realm of house music. You can catch him in the States over the next few months at the Coba in Dallas, TX, and Exchange LA in Los Angeles, CA.
Tiesto remains a staple in EDM and continues to help artists surface across the world with his collaborations. He already has 50+ shows planned for 2025. The majority of them are in his nest of nightclubs in Las Vegas – Omnia, TAO, and LIV. Also, he will be at an EDMTunes favorited event, Ultra Music Festival. Altogether, you can see many of his international and U.S. dates on his website here.
With the exciting release of ‘Flex’, fans are left wondering what’s next for both artists. Their combined effort of great artists like Tiesto and Oscar L always makes waves of excitement in our beautiful community.

The 2025 A State Of Trance Festival in the Netherlands witnessed a collaborative ‘Face-to-Face’ performance by Armin van Buuren and Maddix, where they pushed the boundaries of their musical and technical skills. Breaking from the standard B2B setup, the Dutch electronic musicians opted for a unique ‘Face-to-Face’ arrangement, placing their DJ equipment opposite each other during their performance. This marked a spectacular Armin Maddix F2F set that enthralled the audience.
Firstly, we must recognize the audacity and display of talent that many DJs and producers have with F2F sets, this being an example. With usual B2B sets, both DJ’s use the same set of decks, and can easily communicate with one another, as well as see what the other is playing. However, with a F2F set, this was not possible.
An ‘F2F’ set is an innovative approach to DJing, where the artists face each other and, crucially, are unable to see each other’s CDJs. This setup promotes a more profound and spontaneous musical connection. So Armin and Maddix had to rely on hand signals, facial expressions and sheer musical instinct.
The whole set is a presentation of the high-energy skills of Maddix and mimicry of Armin van Buuren to harder styles than the most common ones he uses for a presentation. From the beginning to the end of the confrontation, both artists decided to release a series of movements and musical bombs with great energy and speed with remastered versions of ‘In And Out Of Love’, ‘Meet her at the loveparade‘ and future classics as ‘Direct Dizko‘ and ‘Hellfire‘, thus leaving the audience on the edge of the floor where they were standing, with the impossibility of resisting dancing.
Here’s what Armin had to say about the performance:
“I had an amazing time playing face-to-face with Maddix. I’d never done it before, so it took us a little while to find our groove with the hand signals, but once we did, I had an absolute blast. I’d do it again in a heartbeat! Can’t wait to release our collab.”
Maddix had this to share:
“This was a completely new experience for me, and honestly, I was pretty nervous—playing a F2F is quite different from a B2B. And of course it was in front of a huge crowd & with the legend Armin van Buuren himself. I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out though and I loved every second of it! Our hand signals for every transition worked perfectly.”
The ‘face-to-face’ set occurred within the larger A State of Trance festival in Rotterdam, which featured a five-hour opening performance by Armin van Buuren, showcasing both present and future trance music. This special performances included an Armin van Buuren’s massive 5-hour set on Friday, which led into Saturday’s A State of Trance day. Fans were given the chance to explore behind-the-scenes, connect with fellow enthusiasts, and participate in activities focused on wellness and mental well-being.
You can watch the Armin van Buuren F2F Maddix set on A State Of Trance 2025 below!

For those who have not yet experienced Miami Music Week, it's where your sleep schedule goes to die—happily.
Just ask any one of the disheveled rave zombies stumbling through the Miami International Airport on Monday morning. These are the survivors, the ones who danced until their bodies pleaded for mercy, then danced some more.
The annual celebration of electronic dance music culture is arguably the nation's best time for DJs and fans of the genre, who willingly devolve into a blissed-out, sleep-deprived haze in Miami. The city's hotels, bars, restaurants and streets transform into one giant, endless dance party, and the only souvenir you're left with is a questionable friendship with a flamingo pool floatie.
And convictions be damned, it's back. Ahead of Miami Music Week 2025, EDM.com has published its annual guide with an exhaustive list of club nights, pool parties, raves, record label showcases and more so you can keep a pulse on the pandemonium.

Over the years MOGUAI, Dimitri Vegas, and Like Mike have created a huge catalogue of top tier EDM which has earned them their status of being titans of electronic music. Individually they have each made incredible music and when they came together in 2013 to make ‘Mammoth’ that they made their greatest creation of all.
In a time where big room house was king, ‘Mammoth’ lived up to its name developing a mammoth reputation as being one of the best pieces of electronic music ever created. It would hit the charts in Belgium, Germany, France, and the Netherlands but surprisingly it was the less popular vocal version ‘Body Talk’ that would fly the highest. It managed to reach number 2 in Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike’s home country of Belgium despite it not catching on as well as its instrumental counterpart.
‘Mammoth’ has achieved some impressive numbers with it currently having 90 million streams on Spotify, reaching number 44 in Belgium, and being one of MOGUAI and Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike’s biggest songs. Its achievements go far beyond what those numbers say though as it has regularly been in the top 5 of Tomorrowland Radio’s Top 1000 Anthems reaching number 2 in 2024. Its chart success may have been minor, but its adoration from the electronic music community, admiration from fellow artists, and legacy it has created are truly mammoth.

For many, Angel City’s euphoric Dance anthems were a defining part of the early 2000s club scene. Tracks like ‘Love Me Right’ and ‘Do You Know’ dominated the UK and US Dance charts, earning singer-songwriter Lara McAllen widespread recognition as the voice behind the project. But after a whirlwind of success, she stepped away from the industry, taking time to focus on family and personal commitments.
Now, after a decade-long break, Lara is reigniting Angel City with a refined sound that blends her signature melodic vocals with modern Trance and Melodic House influences. Collaborating with some of today’s most respected producers, including Ferry Corsten, Ruben de Ronde, and Amy Wiles, she’s entering a new creative chapter, one shaped by experience, resilience, and a deep love for music.
We caught up with Lara to reflect on her journey, the evolution of Angel City, and what’s next for her in 2025 and beyond.

Hi Lara how’s it going?
I’m feeling very positive at the moment, I feel like I have come out the other side of a difficult year (I had orthopaedic surgery and the recovery took a lot out of me and slowed me down) but, I have felt so much better both physically and mentally over the last couple of months so I am in a really good place to be creative now.  Productivity levels are back on track!
Looking back at your early success with tracks like ‘Love Me Right’ and ‘Do You Know,’ what stands out most about that time in your career?
The music industry was very different in the mid-2000’s.  I remember working really hard to get Angel City out there, touring clubs for months on end with ‘Love Me Right’. It paid off because I was soon performing all over the world as Angel City, I was even doing shows in New York and LA as ‘Love Me Right’ really caught on in the US.   I think the turning point was being picked up by Radio 1 as a record of the week.  It was amazing as an EDM vocalist to have that kind of exposure and it led to some amazing TV opportunities.
After taking a break from music, what inspired you to return and reignite Angel City?
I started to feel some real regret about leaving music.  During the pandemic when we had more time to stop and reflect on things, I knew that I needed to sing again and be doing the thing I am truly passionate about.  I set up my studio at home.  But timing wasn’t on my side and my grandmother got very poorly right in the middle of the pandemic.  It was never in question that I would nurse her myself rather than let her go into care.  But it would have been impossible to create musically at that time, because nursing someone as poorly as my grandmother, as well as having two young children, takes up every moment of the day. So, music waited until after she died in 2023 at which point it became an outlet for me as I adjusted to the big change in our lives when she was no longer with us.  Although my grandmother was in her nineties and had lived a long life, there was that sense of, “wow, life is short so what are you going to do about the thing that’s been niggling you for so long?”
How would you describe your signature sound now?
I love to write over beautiful chords in Melodic and Progressive House. Of course, there are Trance and Pop elements, but the sound is more grown up now, the toplines are more personal and definitely more authentic.  My voice has evolved too, the same tones are there but there’s more light and shade.  There’s better depth to the sound.
In what ways has collaboration influenced your creative process and approach to music?
Collaboration is everything and it helps you to grow creatively and pushes you out of your comfort zone.  It’s always nerve-wracking presenting ideas to another artist, but when they can hear something in your work and develop it to the next level it’s a really exciting process.
Are there any specific themes or messages you hope to convey through your upcoming releases?
The new single ‘STARS’ is about a journey of loss. It was written following the death of my grandmother, but it’s not dark – it’s reflective.  The instrumental is emotive but in an uplifting way.  I think pretty much all of my upcoming collaborations are about personal life experiences, mainly navigating through the highs and lows of significant relationships. I have a lot more to draw from now, I had zero life experience singing Angel City songs at 19 years old.  I have two children now, I’ve dealt with divorce, lost close family members, had children.  Had great times, not so great times… I am a totally different person approaching songwriting now.  It’s also important to me to push the message that it’s never too late to make changes.  Sometimes it seems like there is a mountain to climb to get to reach your goals but it’s the small steps, consistently and purposefully that add up.
How do you approach balancing your signature sound with fresh, modern elements?
Essentially there’s no getting away from the fact that the sound has changed. The vocal remains melodic but in terms of the overall sound, you can’t take a long break like I have, and not come back with a total overhaul. The great thing about returning after an extended break is that the nostalgia element is even more enhanced and everyone loves a bit of nostalgia! It’s about getting the right balance in terms of a nod to the 2000’s with bang up to date production.  It’s been a journey over the last year developing my vocal, to make sure it can sit proudly back in 2025. It’s the small details in the vocal like the way you end your notes, the amount of inflection in your delivery, even these details change with time and trends… sounding familiar but sounding current has definitely been the focus. Even listening to the recording I did at the beginning of last year, I can hear how my voice has found where it wants to be, as working with current producers brings a fresh direction to the way I deliver my vocal.
How do you see your music evolving as you move forward with this new chapter?
I want to focus on being part of the production process from the ground up, as much as I can, work to receive instrumentals from DJs and Producers, I adore the process of starting with some bare chord progressions and developing something from nothing.  So, I hope that will see me evolve in 2025. I think my music will remain somewhat eclectic but I’ll definitely be bringing in more ethereal harmonies wherever I can.
How has the dance music industry changed since your early days, and where do you see it heading next?
Coming back to the music industry has been a shock frankly, as everything is different, from the way labels consider music, the social media influence and of course, how saturated the market is. It’s been a steep learning curve.
With new collaborations and releases on the horizon, what can we expect from Angel City next?
I’ve just collaborated on a really cool House version of ‘Love Me Right’, a little faster than the original with a 2025 House vibe which I am really excited about, this will be out soon, and then some commercial Trance collaborations with the likes of York, Ruben de Ronde and Sonin.  Talking of the nod to previous decades, I really hope that Amy Wiles and I will manage to get our Eurodance inspired track out to the world at long last. ‘Dream Away’ captures the nostalgia of the 90’s and noughties with a really fresh production and it’s had some great feedback on social media. That was actually the first track we wrote when I came back to music so it’s long overdue, but hopefully it will be out there ready for the summer sunshine!
As Lara steps back into the world of Dance music, it’s clear that Angel City’s next chapter isn’t about recreating the past, it’s about building on it. With a new perspective, evolved sound, and a wave of exciting collaborations on the horizon, her return feels both timely and revitalised.
From reimagining ‘Love Me Right’ with a fresh 2025 House twist to working on deeply personal, emotive releases, Angel City is embracing a sound that honours its roots while moving confidently into the future, with plenty for both longtime fans and new listeners to look forward to, and with more music set to drop throughout the year, Angel City’s journey is far from over, it’s just beginning again.
