Fifteen years deep, it’s been one hell of a ride! With an incredible 1.9 billion streams on the UKF Drum & Bass YouTube channel, it all began with the now-iconic upload of Deadmau5’s ‘I Remember (J Majik & Wickaman Remix)’.
As we gear up for the grand finale of our UKF15 celebrations, a sold-out show at the mighty Drumheads on December 13 – it feels like the perfect moment to reflect on this milestone. We caught up with Sakkurra to talk about what UKF means to her and, of course, her favourite-ever UKF upload.
Your remix of Deadmau5’s – ‘I Remember’ was the first upload on our UK Drum and Bass Channel 15 years ago, what have been some of the highlights of your musical journey since then?
When the ‘I Remember’ remix was uploaded I had no idea who or what UKF was, and neither did I know who Deadmau5 was when asked to do the remix! Little did I know then what an honour it would turn out to be to both remix Deadmau5 and be the first UKF upload with the same track. I have to say that in hindsight for me this was definitely one of the highlights of my career – that upload opened so many doors and introduced me to so many new people, so thanks UKF and thanks Deadmau5.
I can’t quite believe that was 15 years ago though – a lot has happened in that time, I don’t really know where to start, but I do know that everything in that time has led me to where I am now with the Sakkura project. It’s allowed me to surround myself with an amazing group of collaborators who all share my creative vision, and a huge highlight for me now is that we have managed to forge an album project.  This was the landmark to a new era in my career and it is such a pleasure to work alongside such talented people who I am lucky enough to call my friends.
How has the dance music scene changed in the last 15 years?
So much has changed about the music industry since that first upload – the way music is promoted and discovered by fans is definitely a big thing – but perhaps the biggest change for me in dance music has to be the sound design and mix-downs. I remember when a handful of producers seemed to be sonically light years ahead of everyone else, I’m glad everyone has caught up now though, it’s been good for the scene.
What does UKF represent to you?
UKF will always be an important pillar of the drum & bass scene and a tastemaker that has always championed new artists and talent. On a personal level, knowing that UKF is supporting any project or music I put out is always a signal that I’m doing something right, and it’s reassuring to know that the brand is still going strong 15 years on, supporting the next wave of talent.
What’s your favourite upload from the UKF Drum and Bass YouTube channel?
As for my favourite UKF upload, it has to be ‘Solar System’ by Sub Focus, such an incredible track.

From the floor of LA’s iconic Kia Forum, the towering stage looked like a technicolor spaceship. Saturday night marked the final performance of John Summit’s Comfort in Chaos tour, and the Chicago native commanded his audience with the ease of a seasoned pilot. It was a night of unforgettable music, groundbreaking production, and a touch of magic, wrapping up a trio of sold-out shows in Inglewood.
Having attended his intimate album launch earlier this year, seeing the journey from that small venue to an arena filled with thousands was nothing short of surreal. Saturday’s show wasn’t just the finale for LA but a perfect sendoff for a tour that has defined Summit’s meteoric rise.

A Masterclass in Production and Performance
The shows opened with an orchestral rendition of his chart-topping hit ‘Where You Are’, featuring HAYLA’s soulful vocals complemented by live violins and piano. This serene moment quickly gave way to a high-energy remix by Maddix, setting the tone for the night. Summit’s use of a live orchestra brought an emotional depth to his music, perfectly encapsulating the poetic end to the Comfort in Chaos tour. It was a bold move that paid off, further showcasing Summit’s knack for blending the cinematic with the club-ready.
The cutting-edge L-Series speakers by L-Acoustics added to the magic, delivering pristine sound while championing eco-conscious touring. Every beat reverberated through the crowd, drawing us deeper into Summit’s carefully crafted sonic world.
Saturday night featured a carefully curated lineup that amplified the show’s energy from start to finish. Jennssa Acosta opened the night with a set that built the perfect foundation, her impeccable track selection setting an infectious tone. Danny Avila followed with a high-energy performance, raising the crowd’s pulse with his signature beats, while Cassian seamlessly bridged the gap between emotion and rhythm with his melodic mastery.
Photo Courtesy Of @artbygoldie Throughout his two-hour set, Summit wove through a dynamic mix of his catalog, including fan favorites like ‘Human’, ‘Eat The Bass’, and ‘What A Life’. Special guest performances punctuated the night, with Paige Cavell delivering a stunning live version of ‘Tears’, and KOATES joining for ‘Undo’. The live orchestra returned for a hauntingly beautiful performance of ‘Go Back’, featuring Julia Church, while HAYLA closed the night with a soul-stirring rendition of ‘Shiver’.
From the top rows to the packed floor, the energy in the Forum was pure ecstasy, a reminder of music’s ability to unify and transport.
The Warehouse After-Party
As if the Kia Forum wasn’t enough, the night continued with a superb warehouse after-party that felt like the perfect encore to Summit’s arena spectacle. Athena opened the event with a commanding set, her energy igniting the crowd right from the start. Danny Avila followed, bringing the same heat that had defined his Forum set, while Cassian delivered a seamless performance that blended deep emotion with late-night grooves.
When John Summit finally took over, the intimate warehouse setting amplified the connection between artist and audience. It was a fitting way to end the night—and the tour—with the raw, underground energy that has always been central to Summit’s appeal.
A Man Of The People
John Summit’s Comfort in Chaos tour finale wasn’t just a showcase of his own talent—it was also a platform for rising stars. By featuring two local LA DJs, Athena and Jennssa Acosta, at his Kia Forum shows and after-party, Summit demonstrated his commitment to elevating women in the EDM scene.
Both artists are no strangers to the LA underground, where they’ve built reputations for their dynamic sets and authentic connection to the city’s dance culture. Summit’s decision to spotlight them at two of his biggest shows is not only admirable but also a testament to his status as a true man of the people. By championing local talent and helping to bring more women into the EDM spotlight, he continues to push boundaries and inspire a more inclusive dance music community.
Curation Genius
Danny Avila & Cassian, both stars in their own right were the perfect addition to these lineups. If you’ve been around the world of dance music for an amount of time, i’m positive you know of them, or at the very least their music. Their reputations speak for themselves. I couldn’t think of a better lineup to set the stage for a Summit headline set than big room techno, into melodic techno.
Danny Avila and Cassian, both luminaries in their respective genres, were the perfect additions to the Comfort in Chaos lineups. If you’ve spent any time in the dance music world, their names—or at least their music—are undoubtedly familiar. Avila, with his high-octane big-room techno, brought pure energy, while Cassian’s melodic techno mastery offered the perfect counterbalance of depth and emotion. Both are at the pinnacle of their careers, and their reputations as innovators in their genres speak volumes. For John Summit to curate such a seamless progression of sound leading into his headline set highlights his genius for building unforgettable musical journeys. This lineup was a masterclass in curation, setting the stage for an electrifying Summit performance.
A Poetic End to a Groundbreaking Tour
The Comfort in Chaos tour has been a journey like no other. Summit’s debut album landed at #2 on Billboard’s Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart and #39 on the Billboard 200, propelling him to new heights. His ability to evolve as both a DJ and producer was on full display at the Kia Forum, where he paired state-of-the-art production with deeply emotional performances.
Photo Courtesy of @DONSLENS Photo Courtesy of @@KRISTINABAKREVSK From the stunning orchestral collaborations to the after-party’s warehouse vibes, Saturday night was a celebration of Summit’s artistry, vision, and the community he’s built along the way. The final moments of the show, with the audience singing along in unison, were a testament to the transformative power of music—and a perfect end to an unforgettable tour. elrow, the famed party series from Spain, turned Chicago's Radius into an unbridled playground of dance music surrealism over Thanksgiving weekend.
Imagine Cirque du Soleil meets electronic music, and you’re still only halfway to understanding the sensory overload that defines elrow's events. Just a year after debuting their "Dance with the Serpent" theme in late-2023, the brand is presently touring stateside their new "Hallucinarium" theme, a concept that plunges partygoers into a sacred dreamscape of geometry and psychedelia.
The air shimmered with a kaleidoscope of neon hues and confetti, a vibrant explosion of joy that felt plucked from the dreams of an interdimensional traveler.

Radius served as the perfect canvas for the brand’s two-day takeover. The nearly 5,000-capacity, 55,000-square foot venue has rapidly become a cornerstone of the city’s thriving house music scene, and its towering architecture amplified the surrealism of elrow's expansive production.
Known for its theatrics, elrow delivered a jaw-dropping spectacle on opening night that included neon stilt-walkers and costumed performers dressed as mushrooms and butterflies. And of course their beloved chicken mascot, Rowgelia, who hyped up revelers throughout the night with lovable antics like surfing the crowd on a wobbly raft and taking to the DJ booth to proudly let the elrow flag fly.
The night's curated lineup was equally magnetic. Aluna and Coco & Breezy brought smooth grooves to the decks, enhanced by the former's live vocals that added a soulful dimension. The came Toni Varga, an elrow veteran and staple of the brand since its formative years in Barcelona.
Keeping the momentum going, Walker & Royce went b2b with VNSSA to close out the night on a high, performing their infectious collaboration “I Don’t Remember” off the former's latest album, No Big Deal.

Each set was a journey accentuated by elrow's characteristically thunderous confetti cannons erupting nearly every hour, showering the crowd in a colorful downpour. The party was a celebration of the uninhibited, a collective moment of escapist wonder as thousands danced with reckless abandon, their costumes and smiles reflecting the vibrant chaos around them.
elrow's Hallucinarium is not simply the debut of another theme, but a decisive new chapter of expansion as the brand’s image continues to evolve all while continuing to captivate global audiences worldwide. Having hosted over 150 events in 67 cities across 26 countries thus far, elrow's recognition of their ability to deliver consistently memorable experiences remains unmatched.
As the Hallucinarium tour continues its journey stateside, it’s set to take over Factory Town at Art Basel in Miami on December 8th. For fans of surrealism, house music and pure escapism, it’s an experience not to be missed. Tickets are on sale now.

ACRAZE continues to blaze new creative paths with his latest release, "Take Ya B."
Teaming up with Lil Mabu, a rising voice in hip-hop after a breakout 2023, the EDM.com Class of 2022 star's new collaboration is an unapologetic invitation to live life unrestrained. It's a compelling reimagination of Mabu's "MR. TAKE YA B*TCH," his hit track with ChriseanRock.
Since premiering the track in grand fashion over Labor Day Weekend at Chicago's North Coast Music Festival—where ACRAZE brought out Mabu for an ecstatic crowd—"Take Ya B" has lingered in the vault, building anticipation in the back half of the year.
The track unfolds with riveting hand-drum percussion that grounds the production in tribal rhythms and a jet-setting tone. Mabu's lyrical delivery brims with braggadocio, a show of self-assuredness that blends well with ACRAZE's dynamic instrumentation. It’s an interplay of two worlds: Mabu’s hip-hop roots shine through with commanding lyrical delivery while ACRAZE's signature grooves provide a high-octane pulse.
With ACRAZE reimagining his sound and Mabu stepping confidently into the world of dance music, the track is fittingly reflective of two artists unafraid to color outside the lines. Listen to "Take Ya B" below and find the new single on streaming platforms here.

Boogie Lights, the visionary producer/DJ/drummer and frontman of the dynamic 10-piece ensemble The Boogie Bunch, is thrilled to celebrate the release of his debut album, DISCO DANCE THERAPY.
DISCO DANCE THERAPY showcases Boogie Lights‘ genre-blending mastery across 11 tracks, taking listeners on a journey through his artistic identity – a sonic ethos influenced by house, disco, funk, bass, soul, and hip-hop. Featuring contributions from members of The Boogie Bunch—a rotating ensemble of talented musicians on saxophone, guitar, keys, soulful vocals, and more—the album acutely reflects Boogie Lights’ creative philosophy: by combining empowering lyrics and rhythms that inspire listeners to embrace the moment and dance through life’s challenge, Boogie Lights spotlights music’s transformative power to uplift and heal.
“The concept of DISCO DANCE THERAPY relates to the relationship between music and mental health. The theory of dance therapy is referenced in the title track, how sometimes ‘all you need is a beat to get back on your feet.’ The album is an uplifting expedition through indie, funk, disco, and house led by empowering lyrics focused on mental wellness, spreading love to the universe, and living in the moment.” – Boogie Lights
The album highlights a bevy of vocalists from The Boogie Bunch, including Denver’s soul queen DZIRAE GOLD, hip-hop savant Deezy Le Phunk, Shawn Dunbar (Hereami), and special guest Montel Moore. Boogie Lights also lends his voice to select tracks, supported by a lineup of stellar musicians: Rix (Ricky Feria) on guitar, Chando on keys/synth, Ty Piña on saxophone, Ben Suarez from The Hip Snacks on bass, and Daniel Colbert on violin.
This collective effort imbues an authentic, infectious energy into the album, resulting in a singular fusion Boogie Lights has coined Electronic Dance Funk (EDF) – a seamless blend of live funk and electronic dance music.
Earlier this year, Boogie Lights dropped the LP’s lead single “RISE UP” – an empowering anthem that hopes for a brighter future and encourages listeners to harness their collective power for positive change. Created with members of The Boogie Bunch, DZIRAE GOLD, Deezy Le Phunk, and Mocha Music infuses the track with a funk-filled dose of ‘disco dance therapy.’ Next, the versatile artist dropped the LP’s second single “Keep The Funk,” an energetic track that aims to revive a funk spirit within the new wave of tech-house music. A groovy anthem featuring contributions from guitarist Rix (Ricky Feria), “Keep The Funk” masterfully blends live instrumentation with pulsating house catharsis.
The rest of the tracklist for DISCO DANCE THERAPY – a name originating from a fan’s personal description of a Boogie Lights live show – features similarly thought-provoking songs that encapsulate the therapeutic power of dance and draw from Boogie Lights’ personal experiences.
Embodying the album’s core spirit is the title track, which combines euphoric house aesthetics with layers of vibrant instrumentation and a reminder to listeners that “all you need is a beat/ to get back on your feet.”
There’s also “Soul Eclipse,” featuring stirring vocals from DZIRAE GOLD, whichdraws inspiration from the awe-inspiring solar eclipse of April 8, 2024, and serves as a metaphor for navigating life’s uncertainties; meanwhile, “Keep Livin’,Keep Lovin’” honors a friend lost to suicide, using gospel harmonies by Montel Moore to deliver a message of resilience and connection.
“Ask The World” recounts a serendipitous encounter with a music lover who gifted Boogie Lights the bass used to craft the song, and “Sunglass Stomp” showcases saxophonist Ty Piña’s signature swagger, with live stomps, claps, and infectious saxophone solos.
“Natural Electricity,” the album’s ethereal closer, encourages self-love and living in the moment, encapsulating the album’s core themes of inner connection and universal energy.
DISCO DANCE THERAPY is then rounded out by the groovy tone-setter “Music Wellness”;  “I’m Feeling Good Today,” which contains a vibrant blend of funky saxophone riffs and infectious disco energy with soulful vocal melodies from Hereami; as well as the high-energy track “Universal Language,” which includes a punchy rap verse from Deezy Le Phunk and hip-hop elements with funk-inspired rhythms.

The San Diego-native will celebrate the album release with an historic, global ‘Knock2: nolimit TOUR’ (press release), which will see the artist visionary stop through cities like New York, Sydney, Chicago, Toronto, Denver, Austin, Vancouver, and Perth, with additional dates already added after selling 25k+ tickets during the initial pre-sale.
‘Knock2 nolimit TOUR’ tickets are on sale now
“come aliv3” represents the final 2024 release for Knock2, who is wrapping up his biggest year yet. At only 25-years-old, the young producer has spent the past half-decade expanding his international presence with ubiquitous hit records like “dashstar*” and “Rock Ur World” (which have amassed a combined 100 million+ streams across platforms). In 2024, Knock2 has continued his unceasing momentum with solo performances at festivals such as Bonnaroo and Outside Lands, in addition to nurturing his collaborative duo ISOKNOCK (ISOxo + Knock2), who surprise dropped their debut album 4EVR while taking the stages at Coachella, ULTRA Japan, and North Coast Music Festival (performing from a suspended shipping container).
Now, after releasing two anthemic LP singles “feel U luv me” (press release) and “hold my hand” (press release), Knock2 is further establishing nolimit’s sonic ethos with the RL Grime collaboration “come aliv3”: a track that revitalizes vintage, early 2010s electronic music aesthetics within a fully singular, contemporary context.
“come aliv3” – an electric blend of progressive sounds with house and trap elements – represents another exciting chapter in Knock2 and RL Grime‘s long-standing history. The veteran trap legend has been a champion of Knock2 for years, having released some of the young artist’s earliest music on his Sable Valley imprint, and taken Knock2 on Sable Valley tours. Their creative partnership culminated this year with their historic, headlining b2b at Ultra Music Festival 2024 and recent b2b at SILO Dallas last month, as well as their collaboration on the ISOKNOCK track “Smack Talk” – one of the biggest festival trap anthems of the year.
RL Grime first came to prominence in the early 2010s, delivering massive remixes of Chief Keef’s “Love Sosa” and Kanye West’s “Mercy.” In 2014, he released his #1 electronic album VOID and became a staple at the largest festivals across the world – just a few of many accolades that solidified the producer/DJ as one of the defining electronic voices of his generation. Now, following the release of his 2023 LP PLAY, RL Grime is affirming his unparalleled ear for talent through his continued support and collaborations with rising superstar Knock2, further evidenced by the sonic innovation on “come aliv3.”
Featuring singer Abi Flynn, “come aliv3” kicks off with soaring vocals floating over an emotional, heart-raising buildup before introducing blazing, festival-ready synth chord progressions. The track then drops into Knock2’s signature, thumping house sound – a cathartic mix of pounding kick drums and syncopated, distorted bass tones that transforms the song’s euphoric nostalgia into blistering, forward-thinking catharsis. “come aliv3” then culminates with a section of explosive trap madness – a showcase of incendiary production that acts as a grandiose climax to this crowd-pleasing banger.
Fans can hear “come aliv3” and other tracks off of nolimit once the ‘Knock2: nolimit TOUR’ kicks off in Vancouver, British Columbia in February 2025. Featuring a brand new stage production titled “The Stack,” the ‘Knock2: nolimit TOUR’ will see Knock2 headline acclaimed venues such as Terminal 5 in New York City, Mission Ballroom in Denver, Radius in Chicago, and many more – providing fans with a live experience that reflects the bold spirit of the nolimit era. With a sonic and visual palette that evokes the renegade, DIY spaces from which Knock2 cut his teeth, the creative ethos for the upcoming LP and accompanying tour will reflect the boundary-pushing artist’s ability to shatter conventions and empower fans to embrace their true selves.

Just in time for the holiday season, Electric Love Festival presents the perfect gift for music lovers: the first lineup phase for ELF25 is set and already bringing summer vibes despite the chilly winter season.
With an impressive selection of artists spanning a wide range of genres – from chilled-out house to high-energy Hard Dance – ELF25 is set to be an unmissable highlight on the summer festival calendar.
A standout highlight of the first line-up phase is Major Lazer Soundsystem. The trio surrounding superstar DJ Diplo, is known for global hits like ‘Lean On’, ‘Cold Water’, and ‘Light It Up’—songs that have collectively surpassed 5 billion Spotify streams. An impressive number, especially considering that not even Madonna has a song on Spotify with over 1 billion streams. Hardwell, the legendary Dutch DJ and producer, returns to Salzburg in 2025. A longtime fan favorite, he has graced the Electric Love mainstage multiple times, delivering unforgettable sets. Another highlight is Deborah De Luca, a techno icon who brings her distinctive sound and global acclaim back to the stunning Salzburg Lake District. Recently, she made waves as one of the few techno artists to perform on New York’s Times Square. Fans of Tream are in for a treat. After his celebrated performances in the Heineken Starclub (2023) and Club Circus (2024), the German schlager rapper is taking his ELF performance to a whole new level in 2025. He will present Tream Frühschoppen, a brand-new, exclusive concept that promises to pack the mainstage from the very start with his live performance.
The first line-up phase also features standout acts like Hugel, who dominates the charts with his Afro House beats, and BUNT., the German sensation set to perform on the ELF 360 Stage in the middle of the crowd. Drum and bass legend Sub Focus and the “crazy Aussie” Will Sparks are also ready to bring their signature sounds to Salzburg. For fans of harder beats, I Hate Models and Azyr will deliver dark hard techno vibes that guarantee rave energy. Hip-hop enthusiasts can look forward to performances by Money Boy and Filow, while local heroes, the Glueboys, will once again bring their energy to the Club Circus. The hard dance community is also well-represented: genre legend Brennan Heart and AR Gang head Sickmode, known for his goofy beats, are just two of the many acts set to demolish the two hard dance stages.
And the best part? This is just the beginning. Over the coming months, even more national and international top acts will be announced, ensuring Electric Love Festival 2025 will be an unforgettable experience.
Anyone wanting to join ELF25 should secure their tickets before the end of December while the Super Early Bird Phase is still ongoing here. Many categories are already sold out.

While streaming platforms encapsulate our listening habits for the year, a new study takes it one step further by analyzing music's effect on body image. And it's music to our ears to hear that EDM is one of the top genres fostering body positivity.
The study was conducted by Levity, a company specializing in weight loss support through a combination of prescription medications and personalized clinical guidance. They analyzed 360,997 songs across 1,849 body-positive playlists, and asked 1,000 Americans how music "shapes" their relationship with their bodies.
1 in 10 Americans suggested that EDM makes them feel most confident, according to the study, and 61% of listeners have high body positivity. Reggae fans led the charge at 70%, followed by hip-hop, jazz, classical and country music, respectively.
Levity
Common threads found among playlists related to positive body image were Calvin Harris, Tiësto and David Guetta, among other superstar DJs. The study cites the upbeat and energizing nature of their music as the reason why EDM ranks so high on the list of confidence-boosting genres.
Other top artists on body-positive playlists include Deftones, Drake, Luke Combs, Taylor Swift and Arctic Monkeys.

Paying tribute to her late friend and collaborator Avicii, MØ has released a beautiful cover of his hit track "Wake Me Up."
MØ, who collaborated with the late EDM icon to release 2013's "Dear Boy," breathes new life into Aloe Blacc's timeless vocals. Infusing them with her raw and powerful voice, she stays true to the original "Wake Me Up" while adding a fresh twist, belting over a propulsive synthpop beat.
Avicii's music, she says, has had a profound impact and played an instrumental role in her decision to pursue music.
"Avicii's music and life story has touched me deeply over the years," she explained in a press release shared with EDM.com. "In 2012 in New York City at a weird rooftop party and to the tones of 'Levels,' something about the unapologetic, almost aggressive energy mixed with a haunting emotional depth made me make up my mind to follow my dreams of becoming an artist, whatever the cost."
Out now via RCA/Sony, the cover comes paired with another new single, "Who Said," which finds MØ reconnecting with her electronic music roots and Nordic origins.
You can listen to MØ's version of "Wake Me Up" below and find it on streaming platforms here.

Unforgettable music through unpredictable production—that's what you get with RL Grime and Knock2.
After headlining Ultra Miami and releasing one of 2024's biggest collaborations, "SMACK TALK," they've reunited for another signature banger, "come aliv3." It's the third single to release ahead of Knock2's upcoming tour and debut album, nolimit, which is expected to drop in early-2025 via 88rising.
"come aliv3" invites you to move, but compels you to listen—and in that balance lies the collaborative magic of these influential producers. It's a compelling collision of their distinct styles: Knock2's club-ready precision meets Grime's apocalyptic grandeur.
The first drop lunges forward with a relentless four-on-the-floor rhythm, a bright, euphoric sprint that could light up any mainstage. But just when you think you're safe in the glow, the second drop detonates with a filthy, snarling trap sequence that pulls the rug out from under you.
It's a one-two punch designed to keep you guessing and gasping. All the while, Abi Flynn's airy vocals tie it all together, offering moments of intimacy. Her lyrics, brimming with warmth and longing, become a surreal contrast to the track's explosive production: "You take away the pressure baby / Get a warm and tender feeling inside."
Listen to "come aliv3" below and find the new single on streaming platforms here.

As Art Basel transforms Miami into a mosaic of creativity, Keinemusik's &ME is following suit, stepping into the spotlight for an exclusive DJ set in the Wynwood Arts District.
The influential producer is set to take over the Toejam Backlot on December 7th and infuse the venue with his signature blend of sultry Afro-house rhythms and evocative melodies.
Known for crafting sublime soundscapes that feel both intimate and cinematic, &ME promises a night where shimmering beats merge with Wynwood's gritty, art-soaked energy. Attendees can expect visceral, slow-burning beats and a crowd that feels like family.
His rare solo set stands out as a sanctuary for dancefloor dreamers and audiophiles alike. It also stands as an opportunity to experience musical rarities only the chaos of Basel can offer, like when &ME's Keinemusik counterpart, Adam Port, found himself performing an impromptu set with Travis Scott.

During a busy year of worldwide shows, including Brazil, Canada, the UK, and the US, the GRAMMY-nominated founders of Anjunabeats, Jono, Paavo, and Tony, aKa Above & Beyond, were hard at work in the studio on Tranquility Base Vol. 2 EP.
Above & Beyond press photo – credit Luke Dyson The EP series’ name references A&B’s beloved Tranquility Base alias, which was an influence to the Trance genre, includes iconic records such as ‘Surrender,’ ‘Oceanic,’ and ‘Razorfish.’
Following the enormous success of Volume 1, with EP singles ‘Angry JP8’ and ‘500’, both hitting Beatport Trance #1, Above & Beyond are back with Tranquility Base Vol. 2, the second set of five club-dominating instrumental records.
Tranquility Base Vol. 2
Above & Beyond’s ‘React,’ the bassline-heavy single from Tranquility Base Vol. 2, was available on November 1. The second single, a euphoric classic trance track titled ‘Another Breakdown,’ played to the world on November 20.
The full EP arrives after debuting worldwide at Above & Beyond Group Therapy 600 in Mexico City, Red Rocks Amphitheatre, and the Dreamstate SoCal festival. The excitement for Tranquility Base Vol. 2 was palpable at these events.
ABGT600 – credit Luke Dyson The EP features three additional tracks: ‘Hackney Siren,’ an electric melting pot of Trance, acid, and Breakbeat layered with piano chords reminiscent of 90s piano house; ‘From Grey To Light,’ another experimental production from the trio featuring trippy acid baselines and layers of piano chords, and ‘Chasing Highs,’ a classic trance track that delivers the sound reminiscent of the early 2000s club era.
More of Above & Beyond
Above & Beyond, or Jono, Tony, and Paavo have been at the forefront of electronic dance music for two decades. Founders of the iconic Anjunabeats and Anjunadeep record labels and hosts of a weekly radio show that reaches millions of dance lovers every Friday (Group Therapy), the trio have earned two GRAMMY nominations for anthems ‘Northern Soul’ feat. Richard Bedford and We’re All We Need feat. Zoë Johnston. In 2018, the band’s fourth electronic album, Common Ground, debuted at number three on the Official Billboard Album Chart. Amid this success, they introduced Tranquility Base Vol. 2 to eager fans.
ABGT600 – credit Luke Dyson Described by UK music bible Q Magazine as “the world’s biggest cult band,” Above & Beyond’s enviable list of sold-out shows includes headline performances at historic venues like Madison Square Garden, NYC, The Hollywood Bowl, The Sydney Opera House, Royal Albert Hall London, and Red Rocks Amphitheater, as well as record-breaking turnouts for their own festival events on LA’s Huntington Beach and at The Gorge Amphitheater in Washington State. Their influence only grows with the release of Tranquility Base Vol. 2.
Songwriters first, producers second, Above & Beyond’s unwavering commitment to their craft has fueled a career that many electronic artists today might only dream of: four acclaimed electronic studio albums, 16 compilation albums (Anjunabeats Volume series), two ‘acoustic’ albums, and a stand-alone album for yoga and meditation – not to mention innumerable club cuts and dance remixes. Their latest offering, Tranquility Base Vol. 2, continues this legacy.
This is Trance Bliss, enjoy ‘Tranquility Base Vol. 2’:
